Default Herbology 1

The door of Greenhouse one is wedged open and ready for students to enter for the first Herbology lesson of the term. It's a bit chilly, but comfortable. The large, and relatively empty working table in the center of the room has seats all around it for each student.

Professor Millard is standing nervously at the front of the table, hands behind his back and rocking slightly on his heels. As soon as you enter, however, he straightens up and intensifies his expression. He greets each student with a nod.

ooc: Hello! Class will hopefully begin in around 14-15 hours.
Class has officially STARTED.

~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.

Professor Groundskeeper packed a great deal of energy for such a little man, didn't he? Energy was good though. Yep. So, he had been correct when he said Talking toadstool. Awesomeee! Now, Adi could hardly wait until these things were back to normal so they could be talked to.

Adi began to make notes on the toadstool, pausing only once to raise a hand again. "We could use Mooncalf solution,'' he suggested then went write back to scribbling.

Awww, Professor Millard was getting excited talking about toadstools. That was so cute. Even though she hadn't gotten the answer right, two points were awesome. Yaaay for having a good guess.

Talking Toadstools were something Lux had never heard of, and she was sure to make a note of them since they might come up again later on. They sounded a lot like parrots and it was weird imagining a fungus repeating words right back to her.

How to treat a sick toadstool was beyond her, but it was worth a guess and she was excited to learn. Raising her hand she said, "maybe there is a type of potion that can be used." Potions could do anything.

Okay, good. She was getting somewhere. She wasn't wrong and she wouldn't have really answered it if she were wrong. It was more of her playing the guessing game. She was horrible when she didn't know certain plants. Next question. So they talked about it last term. She heard a few other students say something like potions, spells and such but maybe it was something that was sitting right in their face. Something that none of them were really thinking of and Emmylou knew what she was going to say, she possibly knew the answer.

Emmylou's hand shot up. "Professor? Could be something simple? You know how it doesn't have to be a potion or really any magic involved?" She asked before moving on. "Any sick plant will need some fresh soil and water. Also the most important. Sunlight!" Emmylou beamed and said in a cheery voice. She had to be getting somewhere. "Sir, magical plant or not nearly all plants need soil, water and sunlight." It was true. Plants had to grow somewhere. They couldn't just grow out of the air, could they?

Toadstools.

Well not just any toadstools, but talking toadstools. Plants that acted almost like parrots and mimicing humans in their sounds. Benny wrote it all down in his notes for future and reference purposes. One could only guess what might be needed again at any other time after the class they were currently in.

Now as for helping their new charges, the Gryffindor tried to think of the best options, finally raising his hand. "Dragon dung or mooncalf..." he suggested, noticing the latter was given by Adi as well. "Maybe a spell...um..." Benny added hesitantly, trying to search his mind for the name or incantation of the one he was thinking of.

He snorted when he saw Zahara's name tag and thought it was clever of her to do so. Hopefully she wouldn't get into too much trouble. Why didn't he think of something like that? He laughed at the idea and now the Prof was moving onto what type of toadstool was it. How was he supposed to know? He was here to learn about plants. He only knew Toadstools had fungus and were bad for you some of the times.

Kace remained silent and now they were going to be dealing with Talking Toadstools? He NEVER heard of them before. It was quite bizarre if you asked him but this was the wizarding world, weird stuff was bound to happen. Anywho back on track. As he saw the Professor examine the toadstools and show the class, it didn't look too healthy. In fact it looked kind of disgusting. It was just the puffers opinion. He raised his hand and answered the question.

"Professor I agree with Ben here. I think probably dragon dung could work or possibly any type of fertilizer to give it nutrients." He was backing up the lion he knew and he nodded towards him.

HA. THAT'S RIGHT ZAHRA KETTLEBURN.

The Gyffindor couldn't even attempt to restrain the smile on his face when she was -er- politely (???) reprimanded for her stupid name tag. Though, it would have been a lot more satisfying had the Professor yelled or something. But... You can't really have it all, can you? No. This was an example. Turning to Kevin he-- WAIT WHAT? They were already answering the next question???

The Prefect quickly turned his head back to where the Toadstool in mention was and before he could answer, everyone else was already throwing out suggestions and SIIIIGh. It was all Zahra's fault, naturally. If she hadn't distracted him with her weird name tag... Hmph. All her fault. Always.

ANYWAYS, poor plants were dying again and that horrible previous herbology Professor was all to blame. Beautiful Bentley would have never let this happen. Ugh. Walton was horrible. And he was horrible to the plants too. That's why Zander tried to steal them last term. He wasn't even sure if they were in good hands with this new guy, but so far he seemed... Okay.

Listening to other answers, he began doing some heavy duty nodding at what Emmy had to say. "I've got to agree with EmmyLou, sir... I think it's important to give them the basics... Like some good sun, soil, and plenty of water-- But not too much water, y'know?" Didn't need to drown them.

Okay… So she was now going to work with talking toadstools… And THAT she didn’t had expected! Hmm… Not sure what to think about this she just stared some more at the ugly thing before her. But while hearing the words ’mental fatigue’ she looked up and even moved a little away from the toadstool before her! She absolutely didn’t wanted to get affected by it! But it was handy to know for if she didn’t liked somebody and wanted to prank somebody! It would be a sick prank but still… Hmm…

Sighing because she now really knew that she needed to make her hands dirty during this lesson she shook her head. Why was the teacher asking all those difficult questions?

What was he looking at. AGAIN. In this class. Too.

Zahra made faces at him for a good solid minute.

Then she tried to answer the question.

"Yo Professor Mills. My brother would say you need to try a lil love and tenderness on these bad toadies. Liiiike..... you know, pet the toadstool, tell it about your day, stuff like that. I've seen him nuzzle our plants at home. Swear to Merlin. So maybe that." Not that she'd be doing that. She'd go with that whole water thing.

Talking Toadstools? Well Janelle hadn't seen that one coming. She guessed that she shouldn't be surprised by anything at this school. She took lots of notes and tried to keep up with the conversation. Then it was time for another question. Another question that she didn't have the answer to. Janelle knew that she couldn't keep passing on all of the questions, so she had to come up with something.

The most sensible answers had already been given. Janelle guessed she would have to go outside the box......way, way outside the box. She raised her hand and took a deep breath. "Maybe you could play music for the toadstools. I heard that's good for plants so maybe it could help the toadstools get better.". Then as an afterthought she added, "It would have to be music with no words so they don't get annoyed."

You know it seemed like Professor M was a little scared of Zahra. Or was that how he normally is. Dante did not know. He never felt the need to visit the guy. You know all the way outside the castle and in his cottage thing. Too far of a walk for Dante. You need a really nice cane to go on a walk that long.

He had the hat for it now.

But Dante did smile a bit because he was surprised his answer was not completely wrong. Cool beans.

Talking Toadstools. So kind of like a parrot then. Dante thinks he understands. Probably doesn't. But whatever. Though those side effects sounded awful. Got to be careful around them.

And no Dante did not remember much of Herbology last term. Besides...yeah. So he did not know what Professor M was talking about. Dante stayed quiet, watched, and listened.

It is what he did best.

Okay, it was official. This was the most amusing professor Kate had. No, wait. There was Professor Airey, too. He was a pretty entertaining guy. Talking Toadstools. Kate hadn't gotten a chance to make a guess on it, but that didn't matter now. Talking Toadstools it was. Sick Talking Toadstools, apparently. Kate didn't know how to make a plant better. The most obvious answers were water and sunlight.

Hmm. Another thought came to mind, so Kate raised her hand. "What about Mooncalf Solution? In 'The Ultimate Guide to Herbology', it says that water, sunlight, and Mooncalf Solution can make a Talking Toadstool better if its not in the best of shape," she said. If that wasn't it, she didn't know. It was all she had right now.

Hm. At least Agatha thought this lesson would be alright. She listened to what professor Millard was saying about those toadstools and Morgana, they did look terribly ill.

Talking Toadstools. They were kind of like parrots then, not really able to have a normal, rational conversation, they just repeated the noises and they sounded like normal sentences. At least that's what she understood from what the man was saying.

Sweet Morgana, that plant seemed like it'd be really annoying after a while. Agatha would have loved it if she knew she'd be able to cast a Silencio on it after they were healed.

The Slytherin simply looked from the plant in front of her to her classmates as they answered professor Millard's question. Spells... soil, water, sunlight. She was going to offer Mooncalf solution, but Adi beat her to it, making the girl purse her lips and narrow her eyes at him. Whatever. She had no other ideas so she wasn't going to repeat what everyone else was saying, especially the answers that involved spell work. She hoped that wouldn't be what they were using that day.

Mooncalf solution should always be the answer to this kind of thing. Simple, efficient and she didn't need to draw out her wand. Or so she thought.

Norah's eyes widened as she staaared at the toadstool. It could TALK? WHAAAT. That was CRAZY cool. The third year sat up as straight as she possibly could and scribbled down notes at lightning speed. 'Cause the sooner they were done talking ABOUT the toadstool, the sooner they could talk TO the toadstool. And who had ever done anything as crazy as that? This was even crazier than plants that ate other plants.

Oh. But it was sick? Poor toady. Everyone had said what she meant to say, but she raised her hand anyway just in case some epiphany came to her while she answered and got to keep a toadstool as a prize. 'Cause that'd be totally wicked. "Definitely the water thing, because they like damp places, right?" Okay fine. There was no epiphany in there, but she STILL wanted one as a pet. Who wouldn't?

Hugh wasn't exactly sure how'd they go about fixing the plants. There were a hundred different options and avenues and for him it was troubling to narrow it down to one particular thought and way to fix things.

So he didn't raise his hand. Oh no, he was too busy contemplating the ways they could fix this. And more importantly the moral implications of doing just that.

Philosophy, bro.

Angel looked at the Professor and raised her hand. "You have to take care of the plant, you can talk to them and make them feel better, but the main thing you need to go is stop the decease from spreading so you need to get rid of that part before you continue to make it better, once you have done that you put it in some new fertiliser so that it will regrow and you water it." Angel looked at all the sick toadstools, she felt sorry for them.

Naaawww... not lucky? That was a downright SHAME. Oh wells. As for his textbook... look more closely? Did he SEEEE how many toadstools there were in his book?! As if he was going to bother floundering around with pages right NOW. Nope, he'd wait for other people to find the answer, then he'd learn from it. Yep.

Zeke had nodded and smiled, and ten turned his attention to the other responses going about the greenhouse. Alas, the answer was TALKING TOADSTOOLS. Awesome. Cool beans. But wait... mental fatigue? MENTAL?... Interesting. He had questions.

Of course, he had to consider the Professor's one first.

Hand up, Zeke threw out an idea, "What about like a herbal tea thing full of plant nutrients? Tea's great for making people feel better, and I doubt plants would appreciate hot chocolate." Yeah. Logic at its finest, no?

BUT... his question. Could he ask it?

He wanted to know. Raising his hand again he gave the Professor a hopeful look. "Sir, you said if we talk to the toadstool too much it'll get mental fatigue... does that mean it has a brain?" Seriously, did it? Cause that would be AWESOME.

Valentina remained displeased as Beverly introduced the young boy to her and simply raised a brow and shrugged. He was rude.

"Is this your boyfriend, Beverly?" Valentina pointed at Cutty as she spoke to Beverly. She had been told about a boyfriend, but never had the pleasure of meeting him. What a bad intro, if she may add. But hey Bev liked, what Bev liked, who was she to judge after all?..
Cutty could see the bemusement over Beverly's face and took it as a sign of things going well. He was about to respond when Valentina suggested that he and Bev were a thing. HA! Beverly found a lamp and WISHED!

"I'm not...", he began, speaking at the same time as the prefect. And then Professor Millard started the classes and his attention went to where it was supposed to be.

Toby was better at remembering things in Herbology than he was in perhaps any other subject (except maybe Ancient Runes), but he still didn't remember the various names and characteristics of the many many many toadstools in the world. He didn't want to use his textbook to find the answer, but Toby thought it was a good idea to at least check once he had a vague idea of what the answer might be. But before he could do that, he was raising his hand.

"It could be the Vol... the... Volvo- no, Volvalaria... wait, no. I... hang on..." With his free hand, Toby quickly rifled through his textbook to the where there was a list of names of plants and tried to very quickly locate the one he meant. "... the Volvariella Pusilla." Yeah, no, he'd never had remembered that without checking.

He didn't even know if it was right, but other kids had said other things, so why not mix it up the answers and stuff? The one he'd mentioned was like, suuuuuper pale pink, which was why he'd thought of it for the toadstool he held in his hand.

.....

Cutty HAD to figure out a way to make Toby say that name again. Perhaps, repeatedly.

He was mean.

He gestured to the withered one in front of him, "pink cap, and a white stem." Just to clarify the colours just in case any other students only noticed the brown.

"Wonderful. Take 2 points each for your great observations!!!"

Archie snorted a bit inadvertently before clearing his throat to answer. "Lucky? Not these toadstools, unfortunately." Really wasn't funny. Embarrassing, actually. "Check your book again, take a real close look at the colour left in the cap and stem. Good job for trying, though." Have a point or two! Archie did love a good student that tried to answer rather than not at all. This kid seemed like one of those.

Archie tilted his head to the side and glanced at the toadstool, wondering how on Earth the girl had come to that conclusion. "Nope! Take another look. Remember, it's a magic toadstool..." As opposed to a regular kind. "... pink cap, white stem." Archie nodded to the girl, and eyed her textbook in front of her.

Ah, even more observant! Archie had a feeling he would be dishing out the points in buckets today. "Great pronunciation." He grinned as the kid finally got to the end after checking. "Not the one that is in front of us today, but that was a very good guess. Take two points for that, Toby!"

SPOILER!!: Adi, Beverly! CORRECT ANSWER, WOOT

AHHHHHH YESSSSSSSS... AT LAST!

"CORRECT!!" Archie jumped up and clapped his hands. Just once. "Today we are looking at Talking Toadstools! Well, they aren't doing much talking at the moment. But hopefully they'll all be chattering away by the end of the lesson." He would go into more detail on the subject in a moment...

Heh, Archie liked this one.

He chuckled a bit. "Very, very unique. Once these toadstools are restored you will see why!!" As much as they were super cool, they also got very annoying after a while. He didn't expect the students to appreciate them for long.

Archie understood that it was quite a hard question. A random toadstool in front of them with only a dash of its original colour left. He applauded all of the kids for trying. Even the ones who were quietly observing and not attacking his teaching. Ha. "They are very sick, yes..." He tapped his chin, paused, and then continued. "Which brings me on to the next part of our lesson!!!"

----------------

Now, to end this small identification, Archie raised his arms up to indicate that they were moving on again. He felt like he needed to since he was shorter than half of these kids. "For anyone who didn't hear Miss Wayne and Mr Rehman, today we are looking after Talking Toadstools. YES, they talk... when they are... fully functioning, of course." He scratched the back of his head and paused for a moment before continuing. "When I say 'talk', I actually mean they mimic human sounds or phrases. Whilst a very fun little plant, it shouldn't be spoken to for long periods of time. Apart from being quite annoying, they can also caught slight mental fatigue and mild cases of hysteria... PAUSE. "Not to worry about that, though!" Archie grinned wide.

Moving on, "This is where today's lesson ties in with last terms." Kind of. "I would like us to try and restore these unhealthy toadstools today, ready for us to pot and plant! Before we begin the practical, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how we could restore the toadstools back to their original state? What could we use, for example?" Perhaps students from last term could recall Andrew Walton's lesson on sick plants.

ooc: Class will continue tomorrow. Probably around this time! <3

Common sense? Cutty examined the lacklustre toadstool in his gloved hand. It was very wrinkly. And though some Herbological life took on that appearance naturally, the Talking Toadstool wasn't one of them. He looked over at Bev's book when she gave the answer because it was there and he was in such close proximity to it having MADE room for himself at the table. In addition to being wrinkly, their samples were sort of colourless, or at least faded according to the textbook image. Raising his hand, Cutty offered this answer, "The first thing yew'll wanna do is inspect it closely. Yew'll never want to misdiagnose a plant and give it improper treatment." Like, give a shriveled, drying plant more water when it couldn't get enough moisture due to suffering from water logged and rotted roots from over-watering. "These toadstool appear to be undehnourished so I think everyone's on to it by suggesting mooncalf solution, but also water and maybe keeping them owtof growing lights or direct sun...to prevent drying out."

Did the Fungi family even need sunlight? Most he'd seen grew in rings out in meadows, but then there were some that glowed in the dark that grew toward the bottom of rainforests that would probably have been lucky to get much light at all. Also, they lacked green parts. Which to Cutty meant a lack of chlorophyll, which then meant they didn't need to photosynthesize. How then DID they get their nutrients? Dirt and dirt alone?

Whoa what?! She had just gained two points for her house and she hadn't even gotten the answer correct? That was odd but Hady certainly wouldn't complain because at least she had tried with her answer...you know actually flipping open her textbook and looking through it and all.

Anyhow grabbing up her quill she began to quickly jot down several notes as she listened closely to the Professor. So they would be working with 'Talking Toadstools' today. Hmm. Interesting. Did they really talk? What would they say? How smart were they and all that junk?

The Slytherin was becoming increasingly curious as she listened to everyone talking, asking questions and answering questions. This time she remained silently however her eyes fixed on her sickly toadstool wanting to know how to fix him up so she could talk to him. She knew how to not make him die..as she used that on the flower in her hair and all but what she didn't know was how to make it not be sick.

Could they get to learning that now?...Please?

Beverly's gaze sought out Aditya across the greenhouse, and finding him, she shot him a nod, a twinkle in her eyes. Good job, Rehdude. Heh--oh Merlin. Now SHE was thinking nicknames. It was contagious.

At Professor Millard's words, though, Beverly squinted at the plant in front of her. If that thing tried to cause her any mild hysteria she'd go all dragon-like and burn it down before it even got the chance. It looked so pathetic she didn't worry, but she'd be watching.

Considering the next question, she raised her hand. "I agree with Cutty." She gave the boy a small nudge under the table. "First you'll want to know what caused the plant to deteriorate like that and then take proper steps to help it get better." The professor probably forgot to water and fertilize it. "Also, changing it to a different pot might help." Like a new start of sorts. Whatever.

Ummm. So, she knew that her guess was going to be wrong, but that wrong? Maybe she heard Angel babbling about them at home and in stuck in her brain when she was flipping through her textbook looking for something intelligent to say. Only, that didn't seem to work out to well for her. Did she mention that she really didn't give a flip about the proper name anyways?

Ohhh. They were talking toadstools. That sounded pretty awesome, and AJ couldn't wait to play with them. Of course it looked like they were going to have to be revived first. "Do they bite, professor?" That wouldn't make her not want to mess with them. If anything it would make her want to mess with them even more. What was life without a little danger?

The next question though, she was all over that. Her hand zoomed into the air. "I think we should sing them to sleep kind of like what you would do for a child. Then we you go to sleep your body or erm... toadstool will rest and heal. Then when it wakes up it will be good as new." Ever heard of sleeping off an illness?

They were talking about some weird looking mushroom. That could talk? Ookay. That ought to be interesting.

And it was sick or something. Didn't sound like a bad thing to learn, fixing things up. Well, he certainly didn't know anything about last term but he was going to guess. Wouldn't hurt. "Using some sort of spell maybe?" He suggested half raising his hand. Did they have to before answering ? Eh, details.
Oh, this one had been quiet until now. Archie smiled wide, very pleased that he was interested enough to try an answer. "That's right. There are spells that can aid plant care," Not enough, though. He paused, thinking long and hard. "... It doesn't often have to be as complicated as using spell work, however. Because of course, even a drop of water will do wonders."

Adi began to make notes on the toadstool, pausing only once to raise a hand again. "We could use Mooncalf solution,'' he suggested then went write back to scribbling.
This one was becoming one of Millard's shining pupils already. Spot on answers so far! "Excellent suggestion. This is the solution we will be using today." Archie replied with a nod. He would go into more details about that in a moment.

"Certainly!" Archie grinned at the girl, who was also proving to be a very observant student. "Potions is a big part of Herbology." He nodded, pausing to silently consider having a joint lesson with the potions professor. "Not only are plant properties used as ingredients, potions can also be used to restore them." He nodded.

What a fantastic answer. POINTS FOR YOU! "Absolutely! You've got it right there!" Obviously there was other factors needed for this particular case. Archie looked to the rest of the class for his next part, "To ensure any plant will thrive, it must have a healthy base and environment." That was a pretty good line, he would write that down for future use. "And we will certainly be doing this today. Thank you." He nodded to the girl.

This one was on the right tracks, too. Archie nodded vigorously. "All very valid answers, thank you very much!" He paused. "All will do our toadstools, as well as any sick plant, a lot of good!" There wasn't really a wrong answer here.

"Right, you are! Dragon Dung is a great choice when caring for poorly plants." The students would probably be pleased to know that they weren't using it for today's lesson. Heh.

"Excellent. That is correct." Archie nodded, pleased that the students were aware of the basics of plant care and understood the importance of the simple things. "And yes... definitely not too much water." He chuckled a bit.

"I got you Professor Milly. All good." She pointed at her NEW sticker with BIG LETTERS he couldn't miss.

"Thank you, miss..." He paused to squint at her new name tag. "... Kettleburn." That wasn't so difficult, was it? Could they be friends now? .................. Actually, Archie wasn't sure he wanted to. This girl made him nervous.

But her answer was lovely. Wow. "I think that is a lovely way to show care towards sick plants." He would like her brother. "As long as you remember the extra important stuff, too." A cuddle wasn't going to offer the same as a drop of water.

This was a different answer. Archie couldn't object to it, though. "Lovely idea. I'm not sure how these particular toadstools would react to that, actually." He paused for thought. "We'll just have to try it sometime!" He grinned.

Ahhh, someone had read up on this! Great! "A perfect answer, miss Addison! Water, sunlight and Mooncalf Solution will do wonders for these Talking Toadstools in no time!" And they'd be having a go at that in a moment!

"Yes, yes! Water is a must!" Lots of children were saying this one. It was good, that meant they had the basics down. "Sure, they would grow well in a damp area." Not neccecarily because they preferred them, though. "They must have sunlight as well!" Archie added.

Angel looked at all the sick toadstools, she felt sorry for them.
"In the case of disease, yes, that is a great idea for treating the issues. Completely removing the problem and regrowing them. We are lucky in the wizarding world to have solutions and potions that can be much less time consuming, however." Not that he was suggesting that taking time with plants wasn't super fun. It WAS.

He liked the thoughts swimming around in this boys head. Even more that he was saying them out loud. Herbal tea. For the toadstools. Archie giggled at the hot chocolate thing. "I'm not sure giving the toadstools some tea would have any lasting affects on its health..." Not that he had ever tried dumping tea on top of a toadstool.... "I think we'll stick to tea making people feel better for now!"

...

Either the boy had misheard him or Archie had made an error in explaining... "It would cause you mental fatigue. The human listener. No, no... Talking Toadstools do not have brains." What a world that would be. "But they have feelings, so always treat them well." That could be interpreted in many different ways.

"Very good answer, Mr Mordaunt! It isn't always easy to distinguish exactly what is wrong with a plant if it is a disease. Malnourishment is much easier to notice and thankfully, simple to treat. You've got it spot on with the solution." He paused to think some more. "I agree, keeping out of sunlight for a short while to allow it to rehydrate, sure, but to fully nourish itself, the toadstool must also have a fair share of sunlight." Was he even making sense any more? Archie's mouth was hurting from all this talking.

Onto her next answer, Archie tapped his chin and made a 'hmmmmm' sound. "For these particular toadstools, I'm not sure singing them to sleep would achieve much. As I said, these toadstools mimic human sounds. They would continue to repeat you until they either sent YOU to sleep... or just sent you a bit loopy!" That was the best way to put it.

"Thank you all for your excellent suggestions. The most useful ideas have been added to the blackboard behind me. Feel free to write those down." He moved aside to reveal it. "Today, we are going to simply be using water, sunlight and Mooncalf Solution." Archie scratched his head because he was SURE he was missing something. "You've all been provided with Mooncalf Solution, soil and pots that will hold the toadstools." He gestured to the center of the desk where the things had been placed. "But before we begin, let me show you a very quick demonstration." He already had his gloves on but he pulled them up extra tight. Archie used his hands to fill the base of the pot with soil. Not too much. "There goes my soil." He narrated. He then carefully lifted his poorly toadstool and placed it into the center of the low pot. Archie used his wand to apply water to the soil and toadstool before turning to the Mooncalf Solution.

It only took three drops before the toadstool's colour started to brighten up a bit. "Ah, see that?" Soon enough, the toadstool was making extremely WHINY noises, but it soon spoke a squeaky 'see that?' and repeated it.

"I'm going to put this one in the next greenhouse a moment so it doesn't distract anyone. They can get very annoying and unpleasant after a while." Archie picked up his already-potted toadstool and left to plop it away. He soon returned to class and smiled at everyone.

"Pot, water, mooncalf solution. The greenhouse is already offering as much sunlight as the toadstools need. Once your toadstool is talking, I will give you your next instruction." Though, it just dawned on him that it was about to get kinda loud in here.

Eh, it would be just fine.

"Go ahead, everyone." He clapped his hands together once. "Hands up if you have any questions or problems. And don't forget to wear your gloves." First practical part was quite scary. Archie sat down and took a moment to breath.

ooc: Ideally, I would like this to be completed in two posts. If not, make it a detailed one post. Class will continue this time tomorrow!

Smile Post 1
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.

Adi caught Beverly looking at him. He got a nod but no smile. Hmmm. Not unusual for the girl. He, however, sent a grin her way. One day she'd actually smile back. Yup. Returning his attention to the class to scribble notes. He paused midway though, amused at AJ's answer. Leave it to her to say something funny. Oh... but her answer was still right even though they would not apply to Talking Toadstools.

Right. So he was all set to use the mooncalf solution as Professor Groundskeeper had already pointed out they would be using. He watched the man do the demonstration carefully. Gosh, the toadystool made an annoying sound O__O but it seemed easy enough to do as instructed. No questions here so where were those gloves?

Adi located his pair, pulled them on and got to work.

Since she hadn't given an answer to the earlier question Hady continued to take her notes without so much as a sound. Pausing when the Professor began his demonstration, her head lifting just enough to be able to see what it was he was doing. Her eyes shifting to the things on her table near her as the Professor used each one.

It all seemed simple enough really. Gloves, soil in the pot, toadstool in the soil, some water and then the the mooncalf solution. That didn't sound all that difficult. The only thing she could see a problem was the whiny noise of the toadstool when it was better, though that she got used to quickly.

Ready to get started she fixed her gloves which she already had on from earlier. Taking one of the pots she set it in front of herself and carefully added a bit of the soil into the pot. Making sure not to add to much she then picked up her toadstool and gently set him into place inside the pot fixing the soil around him so he didn't fall over.

Yes she had decided that her toadstool was a 'him'. Not that it mattered but yeah...

Moving on...

The Idea Man Kori-Kins

Angel looked at the Professor and smiled as she listened to the Professor instruction, she hoped that everything was ready because she was totally into getting started because she loved Herbology and she hoped that she got this right because she would hate to get it wrong.

Angel smiled as she put on her gloves and then looked at the pot that was at her desk, she knew that it was important that the pot was the right size and she wasn't saying the Professor had got it wrong but it was worth double checking right.

Angel then put in the soil, making sure she didn't put too much in, she knew it was important that the right amount of soil was added because if too much was put in then she knew the poor toadstool wouldn't get better, she then looked to see what she had to do next.
