Laughing softly at his question she gave him a firm nod and a bright smile accompanied with a very light playful smack to his shoulder. "Of course I do! I wouldn't lie to you and not about this. You're a lion for a reason." Everyone was in the house they were in for a reason including herself even if she was only a snake because she asked the hat to let her be. Not that it mattered to her the reason.

Now it was her turn to be a bit surprised. "Really? I am?" Hady had had to ask mimicking his earlier doubt. She figured they were friends of course but she didn't think she was his best friend. That was cool and she kept her smile when she saw his small one. She'd done what she had to do and all was pretty good now. She'd gladly keep moving forward at his side.

Three things told him that she was telling the truth, and those three things were her laugh, smile and... well.. that smack on his shoulder. It was actually pretty funny that she tried to smack him. TRIED, because, well... it was Hady, and she was all sorts of gentle. "I am a Lion, yes," he agreed, "but that doesn't make me epic, or does it?" See EPIC was the word he was struggling to attach to himself - not that he was complaining, he wasn't. Nope. No complaints here.

How she managed to look surprised was beyond him.

"No not exactly that's only a tiny part of it. You are what makes you epic. Everything about you." This was said with a grin. Hopefully it made sense cause she wasn't sure how else to explain it.

Hady gave him a true smile squeezing his fingers in return. "Awesome." Even just being besties in school was good with her. She already knew how close he was with his sisters back home.

Now that this was getting settled it was time to keep exploring!

Why was she down here? It was a really, really good question. Especially given she wasn't fond of dark, underground places. Particularly man-made ones. Badger dug holes she didn't mind so much. The smell of earth was oddly soothing. Caves she didn't mind either. There was usually a nice, calming 'drip-drip' of water off in the distance. Down here, however, there was no smell of dirt or 'drip-drip' of water. Just...mold? Green mold? And a lot of spiders judging by the colony of webs tethered about.

Amur took a deep, rickety breath as she returned her eyes to the cat she had followed. Her book was nestled on her knees as she half-sat, half-crouched off the clammy floor. The cat, Mr. Mad, was true to his name. While most creatures and humans with good sense would consider not lying about on the filthy stone floor, Mr. Mad was. And not only was he lying, fully stretched out with belly to the roof, but he was rolling, this way and that. Rolling and rubbing his head and his back all over the floor. Why?

The only, possible explanation she could even think of was that it had to relate to Divination. There was no way that the creature would otherwise do what he was doing. It was too dirty. And cats were clean. Very clean. So it had to be something, some reaction to his inner eye and instinct that was making him behave so strangely.

Amur bit the tip of her quill before joting down a few quick points on her paper.

Satisfied with her reading, and really not wanting to spend any more time down in this place, Amur tucked her book and pen away and eyed the cat. It didn't seem fair to leave him down here all alone, so she ambled over and scooped him up. There was some protest, but after ear-scratches Mr. Mad seemed to calm down enough to let her carry him with ease. He certainly didn't smell like a basket of roses, and Amur held him as close as she dared as she started out of the dungeon level.

Elizabeth was wide awake and feeling like her old portrait self. It was nice to be up in the corridor and it was even better to see her Slytherin House coming through. She was going to keep protecting the Dungeons no matter what anyone was saying. Times have changed, pfft, times never change, people never change. So she knew she had to protect her house and this school.

Time after time after time Finn thought up of something he could get himself into. Perhaps form a hobby out of it. It took him a while coming up with something he felt like might grab his interest, sooner or later, so here he was, with his thing.

There was a....weird noise in the dungeons. Caleb wasn't sure WHAT it was, but it was...odd. It sounded like something rolling around on the floor. Like a rolling pin. But that didn't make any sense...

Curious, Caleb had left and gone to investigate. He nearly walked right into the source of the noise - it was a dude. On a skateboard. Blinking, he took a step back and eyed the scene in front of him. SOOOOO there was a guy skateboarding in the dungeons. Ok. He hadn't expected THAT but he'd take it. It was better than a fight or something that required him to do actual prefect work.

"What are you doing?" Caleb asked the boy with a chuckle. It was pretty obvious, yes, but...WHY was he doing it? That was the question, really.

Roll forward, roll back, roll forward, roll back.

Finn suddenly let all the doubt in his mind that this was going to be hard, and let it float to wherever it wanted. He'd gotten the hang of this easily. But first, he wouldn't make a fool of himself, so he just stood to the basics right now. Keeping his balance and not falling off.

He continued with the same motion until he saw the prefect dude show up. Company then. Curious company.

"Yeah, I can see, I was just wondering...why," Caleb chuckled. "Don't worry, I'm not going to try and like...write you up for making noise or anything," he added with a joking grin. He wasn't sure how some of his fellow Slytherins saw him with the badge and all - if they were afraid to talk to him out of fear of losing house points, or something like that.

He bit his lip to prevent himself from laughing when the boy dropped the skateboard. He didn't want to embarrass the kid! Instead, he grinned and eyed the board where it lay in the corner. "Is it hard?" he asked. He'd always been curious - it had to be harder than riding a broom, right?

Finn hadn't even thought about the possibility of getting in trouble. Whoops. But see, Slytherins were cool, he would not be facing any consequences. "I'm trying to... to find a hobby." Everyone he had talked to recently asked him what he liked to do. It had been bothering him so he finally decided to take some initiative. Obviously this hadn't been working out for him, so far at least. He could always find something else. "I-I wasn't worried about that actually." Honest. Though, Finn did avert his eyes over the Prefect's shoulder and not directly at him.

"Oh-yes. V-very. But, that may just be me." True, everyone held different talents. Maybe Mr. Prefect over here would be good with balance and riding the skateboard. Besides, had he seen him? Finn was glued to the wall, he wasn't of good judgement right now.

His companion here could do whatever he wished. Within reason, of course. Finn went over to the board to pick it up and then held it out at the Prefect, not saying a word or anything. He could definitely try.

SOPHIE BROWN: MEGA COOL DETENTION ESCORT.

Once she dropped Zanderpander off at his detention - she gave him a piggyback ride the whole way there, mind you, and made sure to give him a proper pep talk so this scary event wouldn't seem like the end of the world for him - Sophie decided to roam the corridors of the dungeon and bide her time till the Gryffindor would be set free. She tried to stay relatively close to where he would be emerging when his detention time was up, not just to be the first happy face he saw when he left, but to listen for screams and shouts and any indication that Zander was dying in there. She'd go bursting in there if she had to.

But for now, there were no loud, alarming noises, so Soph let herself wander a little away from dungeon five and paced up and down the long stretch of corridor. Zander was going to be okay, wasn't he? He wasn't going to come out a broken soul? The poor kid's spirit wasn't going to be CRUSHED, was it?!

Despite the obdurate demeanor Marigold had taken to lately, she did care for Zander. So when she heard that the sweet, adorable fellow prefect had been a part of the snake kid's death, she fell over. (Literally. It might've had to do with the fact that she was doing yoga at the time, but the news was also extremely shocking. And completely got rid of all the relaxation brought on by aforementioned yoga).

So she had snooped around in a totally prefect-appropriate way, and found out where and when his detention was being held. She had made a plate of brownies - one of the few things she could make by herself - and walked down to the dungeons. Oh look! Sophie Brown was there too! "HI," she said, giving her a quick side hug. "Brownie?"

Er...what’s Sophie doing down in the dungeons? And was she okay? Ethan sighed as he continued to sit on the cold floor, his back against the wall…Stormtrooper helmet on his head. Everything was peace-y until she came. Not that Sophie can’t be there, but the sixteen year old was hoping he could be left alone.

Scratching his helmet, Ethan changed his mind. Sophie’s a good soul, and Ethan hates to see a friend looking worried. Was the reason of her worry connected to the death of Gregoire? The boy sighed, and removed his precious helmet and walked towards the Ravenclaw. “Long time no see, Sophs!” Hey! Hi! He’s dragon pox free now! “What’s going on? Are you waiting for Tobias?” Toby? Tobes? Babyboo?

The smile on his face faded a bit when another person came. Ethan quickly wore his stormtrooper helmet again, and awkwardly gave Marigold a wave. Heh. Nothing to see here really…carry on…

But…brownies! T__T

Sophie was still PACING AWAY and straining her ears to hear screams coming from the detention room, and no proper screams came... however, grown up people DID pass her and go that way, but NO ONE WAS COMING OUT. That DID make her awfully suspicious and unsettled, and her pacing quickened. Zander was too young. Too innocent. He had a heart of gold and had only been trying to help, wouldn't the adults see that? Sure, the kid was a bit zany, but he wasn't a complete idiot, and he deserved good -

...Another person was approaching, but this time, it wasn't someone that was headed for the detention room. Or, at least, Sophie didn't SEE any reason for Marigold to be headed that way. As far as she knew, the Hufflepuff prefect hadn't been at all involved in the tragedy, so... what was the older girl doing down here? And - ohhh, with BROWNIES?

"Hi, friend," Sophie smiled, returning the side-hug and accepting a brownie quite gratefully. "Thanks." She shoved the whole thing into her mouth and chewed pleasantly, savoring the chewy-chocolatey goodness and letting it ease her nerves a bit, just as she noticed they were joined by another friend. A very good-looking, suave, heroic friend.

BOTH OF HER HEROES. IN ONE PLACE.

"E'hannnnnn," Soph chimed through her mouthful of brownie, beckoning the no-longer-dying boy closer for hugs. He was getting a hug whether he wanted one or not - in fact, Sophie pulled them BOTH in for a group hug, chewing quickly and swallowing her mouthful so she could talk to them properly. "My HEROES." Sigh. So sweet. "Nah, Zander Adair's in detention and I walked him down here and told him I'd wait for him so he doesn't have, like, a total meltdown in there and can look forward to my smiling face when he's done," she grinned, her tone a little bit teasing, even though it was the truth. "What're you guys...?" Doing? Why were they there? And in fact, where had Ethan even come from? Merlin.

Marigold's cheeks tinged red as she happily handed over a brownie to radiant goddess Sophie Brown, who just referred to her as friend. FRIEEEEND. She grinned at the beautiful Sophie Brown and helped herself to a brownie. A small one, though, so she would have plenty of sugar left for Zander. She assumed Sophie Brown was here for Zander too, but when they were greeted by a third person (former prefect, to be noted), she was starting to think that dungeons were just a place to convene for partying and brownie reasons.

"H'lo, Ethan!" she said, smiling at the boy (she considered him a friend, too). Oh, he was putting a helmet on. "May the force be with you," she said while waving generally to his head region with her non-brownied hand. "Brownie?" OOF. Hugs. !!!! DID SOPHIE BROWN JUST CALL HER A HERO!??!?!? Marigold SQUEEEEEZED all of her love into the girl, then let go with a "You'reperfectandawesome'ndIloveyou'ndlots'fstuff. " Pause for air. "Oh, yeah. I brought brownies for 'im. He did me a favor a while ago that I never paid back, plus he probably needs some sugary reinforcements."

How can Ethan forget frozen Sophie Brown? He did panic back then because stuff happened to her right under Culloden’s nose. Also, the Ravenclaw never gave back his robe! But that’s okay, she can keep it as a souvenir of some sort…or maybe sell it once he becomes a famous wizard detective. Yes, yes. He’s doing her a favor still.

The grin turned into a beamy smile, and Ethan returned the hug. HUUUUUUUG! He likes hugs! It literally makes everything better…and brownies! But before he could get a piece of treat, Mari made the geekiest greeting ever…which he liked very much. However, “The Jedi is my enemy!!!” he screamed under his helmet, but removed it just in time to say, “Kidding.” Hehehehe! Now can he get a brownie? He picked one up from the plate and stuffed the treat inside his mouth.

Huh? Zander’s in detention? “Who did he cross? What did he do?” Ethan was super curious because, obviously, he didn’t know the deets. Ethan continued to chew, and subconsciously reached out for another brownie.

Chomps, and listens.

“Oh me? Well…” he paused and swallowed…then got another brownie. See guys, he was deprived of sugar bugs while he was sick, so there’s that. “Last time I checked, our quarters are in the dungeons. So…that’s why I’m here.” Was it the answer Sophie was looking for? Curious Ravenclaw is curious…

Sophie did NOT understand the helmet stuff, nor did she try to - instead, she just smiled at the pair of them and SQUEEEEZED them in the hug with all her might before letting go. And then Marigold was talking VERY quickly and saying very nice things, and Sophie couldn't help but grin and very casually replay everything the girl had just said to make SURE she heard everything correctly and absorbed the praise. Contrary to what people might have thought, Sophie Brown did need praise and reassurance, okay? So everything that the Hufflepuff prefect was saying made her smile and raised her spirits significantly.

"Love you, too, silly, 'n that was nice of you." To bring sweets for Zanderpander. Marigold got another brief side-hug before Soph squinted between the two of them. So... Mari was there to support Zander, too, but Ethan was just coincidentally down there? And... Merlin. The poor Slytherin didn't know ANYTHING? Hadn't someone filled the kid in on what had happened?

Maybe everyone was trying to spare his feelings and shelter the poor boy since he had been through enough already all term. But, well... Ethan was ASKING them... so... "Zander..." Sophie sighed. "He was there for the forest tragedy with Gregoire." She didn't want to vocalize what had happened with Gregoire, so she hoped at least Ethan had heard about that much. "Zander'd been outside and saw another Gryffindor headed for the forest, so Zander went to stop him and get him out, and then Gregoire came along too, and... well, since Zander was there and was in the forest - no matter his reasons - he's in detention with everyone else who was there when it happened. The Gryffindor, and then... well, the other Gryffindor prefect came through here, too, and so did a Ravenclaw one. So... seems like they're all in trouble."

Three prefects in detention. Seemed a bit bizarre, really, and she felt bad for poor Professor Flamsteed for having both of his prefects there.

“Zander’s involved??!” Questions. Ethan got LOADS of it. A student died, and no one is going to be expelled for it? Just…detention? For obvious reasons, Zander needed the time out because he was at the crime scene trying to knock some sense into a fellow student. But…what did they do to at least SAVE Gregoire? Ethan breathed out heavily and scratched his head. “Two prefects and Zander? Please tell me there was an adult person in there too?” Because if not, then he will go pack his bags and leave this school.

However Zander just proved himself to be a good guy, by stopping a student who was clearly not using his or her brain from entering the FORBIDDEN Forest. Sweet stars above. The place is called Forbidden for reasons, and it is soooooo ELEMENTARY.

“Wait. Who are the new prefects?” He didn’t know because he didn’t bother to know. He’s aware that Caleb took his place, Beverly remained as their female prefect…Adi and Mari are the Puff ones…and…no idea about the Ravenclaws and Gryffindors. He was hoping that Sophie would inherit the badge after Jasmine graduated, but there was no badge on her chest, so…

Marigold giggled at Ethan's continuing the Star Wars references, so she imitated some lightsaber noises, then replied in a monotone voice: "These are not the droids you are looking for." Hehe, keepin' up with the classics, McAlistor style. Which she guessed just enforced the "silly" part of her Sophie Brown had just said. She had made loads of brownies, so everyone could probably have a couple more.

The whole story of Gregoire made her sad and swallow hard. Poor kid. Hogwarts was a cool place 87% of the time, with all the rad teachers and students and even ghosts, but the rest of the time, between snow and poisoned ice cream and acromantulas, it kinda freaked her out.

With a glance at Sophie Brown, Marigold answered the prefect question. "Caleb's Slytherin, Gabe and CB are Ravenclaw, Zander and Puck are Gryffindor." Pause. She had heard that Zander and Puck got their badges taken away, so she wasn't sure about them anymore. On a slightly lighter note, Marigold took Sophie Brown's hand and squeezed it, saying, "And Sophie's #1 Nerd."

Siiiiigh. Yes, Zander WAS involved, but... it wasn't his fault. "Zander doesn't deserve to be in detention. He was trying to help. To save everyone. But... Gregoire wouldn't listen, neither would that Aegis kid." So, still, Sophie stood by her belief that Zander deserved some sort of positive recognition for what he'd done. Sure, he hadn't prevented Gregoire's death... but his actions had prevented more deaths, hadn't they? So... in the grand scheme of things, Sophie thought Zander was deserving of all the love and support from his peers, not judgment or negativity.

Sophie offered a sad smile and dug her hands into her robe pockets when Marigold went ahead and told Ethan who the prefects were - very politely looking away as she did so and trying not to seem fussed by it - but her eyes flickered to meet the Hufflepuff's at what she said, a smile unable to stay off her face. "Head Nerd number two, actually. Tobes is number one. I made us our own badges since the staff doesn't trust us enough with real ones." Or something of the sort, whatever the case was. It certainly wasn't that the staff didn't LIKE them enough, because Soph knew nearly every professor liked both herself and Tobes, so... there had to be other factors involved. Ones that she still didn't understand.

Still smiling, Soph squeezed Marigold's hand back, her eyes very clearly offering the gratitude she couldn't verbalize.

In response to Ethan's question, Sophie shrugged unhelpfully. "I heard the new Charms guy, Professor Quigley, was there, too. But I... I dunno much else besides that." Sophie only knew what Zander had immediately told her and didn't press the matter further, for good reason. Poor kid was traumatized.

Ethan staaaaaaaared at Mari. She’s good. She must be a fan too? The blond teen narrowed his eyes, as if scrutinizing her really hard and said, “You may pass.” His face did a weird twitch and laughed loudly. LOOOL! That was good! He’d have to hang out more with the Hufflepuff Prefect because she does get his obsession. Brownie points for you, Mari!

The happy feeling didn’t last long however. Ethan mouthed the names of the new prefects, and noted each and every one of them.

Wait. WHAT? Zander’s a PREFECT??! The former Slytherin prefect deadpanned at the information. He did miss out a lot while he was away…and it came as a surprise that Zander’s involved, let alone him being a prefect as well. “What did Flamsteed say? I mean…if it was Healer Murdoch…” He’d probably not see the light of the day anymore.

Ethan was obviously at a loss. Number one Nerd? The Slytherin just looked at both girls, his mind adrift. Zander, the poor fellow. This is his first term as a prefect, and that had to happen. It’s a good thing that he’s a Gryffindor…he’d probably get over it quickly, yeah?

AND HOLD UP YOUR WANDS.

“Whooaaaa…whoaWAIT. WAIT.” Ethan held up a hand and looked at Sophie. “A-Aegis? As in…AEGISJEROMEDANE? Uncle Oakey’s cousin is here in Hogwarts? ARE YOU SURE??!” And what? He’s the cause of this mess? What about Bart? Was Bart also involved? HOPEFULLY, not ALL of his Blond Bros are in trouble.

Merlin’s untrimmed beard. So many information to process!

Walking out of that detention, Zander Adair had so much on his mind. His headspace was bad enough on the walk down--though it was a lot easier to forget the nervous anticipation when you had a Sophie Brown by your side--but now things were even WORSE.

There were a few good things, yes. That much was undeniable. For one, nobody got expelled, he was sure that he'd never see Hogwarts again. Didn't even help that Governors showed up because expulsion definitely seemed like a thing that they'd be called in for. And he did get his badge back, which was a complete shocker by the way. And then-- Wait no that was it for the good stuff.

He was still trying to get over that horrible pain in his gut that he got after having to relive the memory of that night via the stupid Pensieve. Even his own words from the letter he had to write to Gregoire's family stung. Speaking of which, Gregoire's Family brought up another terrible point that he hadn't even considered before.

So clearly, the entire thing was a giant roller-coaster of feelings and if there was one person who'd be able to sort him out it'd be Sophie Brown. So NATURALLY, right when he was released he went to search for her first thing. Of course they had reminded everyone that it'd be curfew soon, but Sophie had promised she'd wait and he needed to see her.

And apparently Marigold and Ethan Mordaunt too.

Was it a party down here or what? Merlin. Just what he needed after walking out of the only most confusing detention of his life. "Soph--Uh.... What's everyone doing down here??" His voice was clearly weak, but he was trying to appear stable. Normally he wouldn't mind being broken in front of Sophie Brown, but only because she was different. He couldn't be broken right now though, there were others here.

Marigold nodded during Sophie Brown's whole defense-of-Zander-spiel, because he was such an innocent bloke that he didn't deserve ANY critique, from anyone.
