Professor Cassie's style seems to be fully back in motion this term as you can tell by the pinks and reds of the room. There are two chairs to one table and enough tables and chairs for all students. Something that you might find different about the room is the many cats roaming the room.
In the front of the room is the usual blackboard, teacher chair, and desk with tea and tea cups for anyone who would like a cup. To everyone's surprise, or not, the wonderful snap cup has returned and is sitting on a table with a sign. You will find Professor Cassie's own cats hanging out up front with cute little yellow bows near their ears as well as a very sunny looking Professor Cassie sipping her tea.

What did a cat smacking you in the face with its tale predict?
Merlin was still twitching his tale in her face. She couldn't even see the notes she was writing down. Caning her head around to look at her notebook. "Merlin, go bother Grayson." She whispered to her cat. Seriously he was right over there. GO... Any other time that's were he would be.
She scribbled down the notes and finally caught up with it. There finally. Now she could answer some questions. She raised her hand. "Professor, doesn't cats grooming themselves, indicate visitors?" Because not all of the predictions from cats was about the weather, right? They were just making sure they looking good for their company.

This was the class that Echo was most excited about that she barely knew anything about. and she loved to watch the cats, thank goodness for her she didn't bring Klein because they would probably spend their time and chase him. Smiling she sat there in the warm room and she felt like she could take a nap, this class was making her tired but she wanted to stay awake and listen. Might as well take some notes to keep herself occupied.

Ohh, so Kate was right about the two cat's sleeping. But...that meant bad weather was on the way. Ugh. Kate hated when it wasn't good weather out. Things had a tendency to get really boring really fast. She turned her attention to two different cats then, both bathing. She observed the different ways in which the cats bathed. The second one looked hilarious, earning a light laugh from Kate.
She make a quick conclusion then raised her hand. "I think the first one is indicating calmer weather, just like one of the cats sleeping was doing. That second one, though, I think he's warning us that really wild and unpredictable weather is on the way." He still looked hilarious.

So Janelle had given a good guess, but her answer was wrong. Oh well, maybe she'd do better with the next question. Unfortunately when the next question came, she didn't feel any closer to the right answer than she had before. Looking at the cats, Janelle tried to figure out what their positions could mean.
Janelle really had no idea about these two. What could a cat licking itself possibly mean? Any answer she gave would just be a random guess so Janelle decided to be quiet and listen. This whole cat thing was turning out to be harder than she expected.

Dylan beamed as he got snaps. He may have been wrong but hey, he liked the snaps. They made him feel good about trying.
Glancing up at the board, he felt it would be good to write this down. Flipping open his notebook to a blank page, he quickly scribbled down with his quill what the Professor had written on the board. When he finished, he glanced up just as she began talking. Deciding what she said was notebook-worthy too, the fifth year jotted down some more notes.
Looking towards the cats she pointed out, he looked at them quizzically, trying to decide what it meant. Slowly, he raised his hand, deciding to give guessing another go. "Well," he began, still eyeing the cats. "The fluffier one looks really alert, like a dangerous sort of weather is coming, and the other looks quite calm so maybe nothing too dangerous?" He suggested, his eyes moving back to the Professor.

Ruby was watching the cats, partly fascinated, partly confused.
"Does it always have to be weather things?" She asked, hand up. Because like... "They're washing themselves soooo maybe they are hinting we should get all dressed up for important visitors. Or maybe it just means getting ready in general." Ruby defintely felt more ready for things when she was all clean and primped and perfected, so it made sense to her.

Beverly got enthusiastic snaps, "Very good Beverly, very good ideas and you are on the right track!" Someone would be coming their way.

Lux was speaking next and Cassie grinned, "Very interesting that you thought that of the two." She glanced at the cats, "Not quite though, but nice ideas." Snaps for Lux!

Well moving on and trying not to duel on the negative, she gave him extra snaps to encourage and bring back positive energy in the room, "Some do say that reading two cats at once can contradict each other, but these two like the last are actually complementing or helping each other."

Two more kitties. Adi studied the little furballs then raised a hand. "The one licking its paw seems more relaxed so I'm going to say nothing bad is going to happen while the other cat is signalling some shake up is on its way." Again, total guesses here.
She smiled towards Adi as he seemed eager to answer, "Wonderful thoughts Adi, many are looking at the stress level each cat seem to be in, but that's actually not the case at all. I do like your observation and thoughts though." More snaps, because all effort was great!

There observation was so fascinating, Cassie looked back to the second cat. She really didn't even notice it's eyes being big. Very interesting... "Good thoughts and I love your observations, but we don't need to look at it's eyes or position. It's more the paws that we need to focus on this time." She got snaps for being a great observer though.

The first one, though, she had no idea what that one meant. Didn't all cats do that? It was a normal thing, right? So it couldn't mean something completely out of the ordinary. She demonstrated, rubbing the back of her hand against the top of her head like cats did when they licked their paws. "So, um, a tidal wave is coming. She jumped a bit when one said Earthquake a bit loud and looked smiling at Hayden. "Interesting, very interesting. Your thought process and reasoning if very good, but these two actually aren't saying anything about the weather." She got snaps for get work though.

Amur narrowed her eyes and stared, trying to glean something. She tried, hard. Really tried. But when her hand went up the only answer she could fathom was "That the next food we eat is going to taste weird."
Why else would creatures make such faces, if it wasn't because they weren't tasting something gross.
Looking to the next student with an answer she paused for a moment, "That is a very creative and interesting answer. Though I hope it's not true since the next thing you will have is some special treats at the end of class." She would hope her birthday cupcakes weren't tasting weird. They were chocolate, her favorite.

Hand up, he had a stab at the answer. "I have no idea, Professor, but maybe when the cat licks its paws it means that there's good travelling weather? And like with that other one, that maybe there will be strong breezes that blow good luck and things to you?" He really was just stabbing in the dark.
Looking to Zeke she smiled and gave encouraging snaps, "Nice thoughts Zeke, I like how you use their paws to indicate the wind and weather. The paws are exactly what we need to look at, but not for the weather."

Hey if she was wrong, he was wrong but that is what he thought. He looked around and wondered what everyone else was saying.
Hearing Kace she turned her green eyes on him and gave him some encouraging snaps before her eyes grew a little and looked around. "I like your thoughts on the first cat, though we aren't predicting the weather with these two cats, but I'm sorry Kace, I'm not sure what picture you are talking about. We are studying these two cats in the room." She didn't have any pictures up of cats, did she?

"Professor," Toby said, looking around at all the cats. "Are they all predicting different things for the same day? Or like... for different days, maybe?" On account of them doing different things and all. Maybe some of them were mistaken.
Listening to Toby she tilted her head towards the cats and could totes see why he was thinking the way he was. "Very good observation Tobias, but these two cats are actually not saying anything about the weather." She gave him snaps for his effort though it was great thoughts. Turning her attention back to him as he asked his question, "That is a debate on whether or not more then one cat is wise to read at a time, but some say they play off of each other in readings. Meaning that you can get a little more detailed reading using two instead of just one."

"Wonderful job everyone, wonderful job!" She was very excited about how they all were observing the cats. "Now make sure when you are looking at our furry friends that you aren't looking into too many details. Some of you were talking about the stress level, their eyes, and the way they were bathing. First start with the big picture, like this one just cleaning it's paw. It's sitting nicely and just cleaning a paw, not it's entire body, so we focus on just that first. The paw only." She glanced at the cat as it picked up it's other paw washing it once, twice, three times and then casually looked at her. Flicking her wand for the blackboard again.

"A few of you had the question about cats saying different things, well like I mentioned this is a debate around the magazines and studies. Some say they do, but our first two cats both talked about the weather, one said it was calm but it won't be for long and the other said a storm was coming. So even though they were doing two different things they were working together to say the weather is nice today, but don't expect it to stay with the storm coming. These two both are talking about visitors. One told you where the visitor will come from and the other told you who the visitor will be." She snapped with the excitement of it.
"Pull out your books and turn to page 97 and 98. You will find a list of cat behaviors and the meanings. I know, I know it was mean of me to not do this at the beginning, but I wanted to get your brains working and your observation senses perked and by the answers I've gotten today I think I did my job." Fabulous answers she was still on cloud nine with how great they were doing. "Now for the twenty minutes I'd like for you to pick out four different cats to do readings on. On a piece of parchment I want you to write down your observations and then decide if any go together or if you feel they are all telling you different things. My friends that brought their own cats, you can do one of your readings on them and I hope you don't mind if others observe them as well." There were plenty of cats in the room so it shouldn't be hard for everyone to find cats to observe. "You can share cats as well, so don't think you have to have four cats that no one else is using."
She made her way up to the desk and poured herself another cup of tea. "You may begin, any questions just ask."

Weather
Curled in a ball If a cat is curled in a ball everything is still and calm for the moment, but one should keep alert for something coming in the future.
Laying with forehead against the floor If a cat is sleeping with it's forehead to the floor it means stormy weather will be coming.
stretched out If a cat is fully stretched out it means that good days are ahead with lots of sun.
on it's side with paw over face If a cat is fully on it's side sleeping with it's paw over it's face, this means a snow storm is coming.
Washing face and ears only If a cat is washing it's face and ears only, rain is coming.
Points tail to fire If a cat points it's tail to fire or another heat source, that means that heavy rain or frost is coming.
Behaviors Cat following If a cat is following you, it means you will be receiving money.
washing paw three times If a cat washes it paws three times it means you will receive a visitor from the direction they are looking.
grooming with paw at right ear If a cat is grooming with their paw to their right ear, it means a gentlemen will soon visit.
grooming with paw at left ear If a cat is grooming with their paw to their left ear, it means a woman will soon visit.
Washing paw only If a cat is washing it's paw only and less or more then three times , it means that someone is upset with you.
Jumps from standing position if a cat is standing and all the sudden jumps straight up, that means an intruder will be coming.
Turns three times If a cat turns in a circle three time, it means you will gain a new friend.
swats at the air If a cat swats at the air, it means you will get good news soon.
OOC: Activity time!! For this activity just like Cassie said have your charrie find four different cats and do readings on them. Have them write the meanings and if they are related. You need to do this in five posts for full credit on the activity. I found these cat movements/meanings on different sites. You will have until Wednesday at 11 p.m. to finish. Also, you do not have to link pictures of cats. Just have your charrie describe what they are looking at.
Norah took the time to write down alllll the different cat behaviors in her notes, pausing to look up after each one and look at the cats. They were distracting, y'know, and it was kind of necessary that she checked them out so she would know which one to observe first, right? Right. So there. She was still kind of being productive.
The third year stood up, note taking materials in hand, and made her way carefully towards a black cat curled up in a patch of sunlight. Picking a black cat first was VERY important, 'cause what if nobody else picked it and it felt left out? That wouldn't be fair, 'cause black cats weren't really unlucky. Didn't make much sense for fur color to make any cat worth more less than another. But ANYWAYS, Norah got down on all fours and inspected every inch of the cat. Cat #1: I think I'm going to name this one Herbert. So Herbert is a black cat all curled up and sleeping, except his forehead is on the floor. That means that there's going to be stormy weather soon.
BOOM. All done. Norah got up after giving Herbert a few hearty pets and embarked on a search for another cat.

Ohh, so not all cats were predicting the weather. Kate hadn't been clear on that, but it all made sense now. She turned her eyes away from the cats and listened to the directions. This actually sounded like a fun activity! Well, working with the cats seemed like a lot of fun. All that writing didn't. Oh, well. May as well get started.
Kate cracked open her textbook and flipped to the page the professor had mentioned. She spent the next few minutes reading through the pages, so she could get an idea about what she was looking for. When she was done, she left the book open for reference then began to scout out a few cats to work with.
Kate's eyes landed on a calico cat sleeping a few feet away from her. Grabbing her quill and parchment, she began to take notes on what she was observing.
Cat #1
The first cat I observed is an adult-sized calico cat (with a pretty tail, even though that doesn't matter right now). The cat is sleeping but is stretched out across the floor at the same time. It's lying on its belly with its two front feet stretched far out in front of it and its two back feet stretched out far behind it. Even its tail is stretched flat across the floor. That must be some good sleep! I absolutely LOVE this cat, because it's predicting that there will be good days ahead with lots of sun.
There. That was enough details to remember what she saw.

Scribble, scribble, scribble.
Adi's hand went over the page of his book as he made even more notes as Professor Cassie spoke. This was all FASCINATING though he was sure he didn't really believe the actions of cats could accurately predict stuff. Heh. But he wasn't that narrow minded so he would just go along with this.
Right. Activity time. As he flipped his text book to the page indicated by the Professor, he looked towards AJ. He missed her, okay? She was close by to him all the time yet so far away. Feeling that depression and insecurity that she might break up with him creeping up again, he quickly focused back on his book. Great, now he just needed the cats.
Forcing his eyes towards the Felines and not at AJ, the Hufflepuff observed. Which ever feline his eyes paused at, that would be the ones he would use for the activity. Oh look at that medium sized orange and white one! He/She was lucky cat number one.

So he had been almost correct, which Benny was fine with. He didn't expect himself to hit it right on the money in anyway. Listening to Professor Morgan, he had to admit the reasonings were curious yet made sense. The fifth year copied what was written up on the board into his notes for future reference, no doubt they would be involved somewhat in whatever activity was to come as mentioned by the divination professor.
He turned his attention to the next set of cats as they moved on, trying to decipher what the next set of messages was supposed to be. The second one certainly didn't seem to be keen on being watched, at least in his opinion. He hadn't any clue in the end so he remained quiet, awaiting what would be said by the woman when she filled them in. Again, the lion copying it all into his notes.
Washing meant visitors? Interesting.
And they were to do their own readings on the cats. Benny couldn't help but take a deep breath to prep himself. This could be tricky or interesting, good or bad. At least they had the textbook answers to work with now which hopefully would make things a little easier. Flipping to the right page, he looked it over before looking around at the various felines in the room. One couldn't say there were not enough to choose from, you just had to choose and hope the cat was actually going to be helpful.
He finally settled on a red as his first try, the cat seemingly resting first and foremost nearby. So it was likely a weather signal if he was learning the topic correctly. Tentatively Benny moved closer, bringing parchment and quill along with him to take down his observation of the creature in front of him. Close enough, he focused his attention on what was going on and scribbling down his notes.

Adi focused on the orange and white feline. It seemed to know it was being watched for it stared back at Adi with its green eyes. Arching an eyebrow, the boy kept watching. Watching and waiting for the cat to do something interesting. His quill was poised over his parchment, all set to make notes.
Finally bored with watching a bespectacled Hufflepuff, the cat got up and began tending to itself... washing a single paw. Adi consulted his textbook after watching for a full minute. "If a cat is washing it's paw only and less or more then three times , it means that someone is upset with you,'' he read. Oh. Well he didn't need a cat to tell him that.

Well she might as well start with the cat that wasn't hers, right? Hayden didn't even have to move to study it, because it was still laying by her feet. It wasn't laying in a ball, it was more stretched. She wouldn't say it was fully stretched out, but there wasn't an in between option so she decided to call it fully stretched out. She took out her quill and wrote.

That wasn't what the other cats had been saying earlier, but Hayden didn't really care at that point. None of this made sense to her from a realistic standpoint, so she was just going to write down her observations and what the book said they meant.

Onto the next feline, yeah? Adi's scanned the room and his eyes found Margo's Hera. He remembered the cat from King's Cross when he first met the firstie. Back then the cat had been nameless but he did think that Hera is a good name.
So, the boy fixed his gaze on the cat, waiting... aha! Well, that wasn't a long wait. Hera's eyes started moving after a moment as he gazed up at the air around him then he suddenly swatted the air as if hoping to chase away a pesky insect. Adi scanned the page on which the 'behaviours' were printed.
"If a cat swats at the air, it means you will get good news soon." Hmmm... "Will OWLs be cancelled?'' he wondered to himself. Hehe. Adi began to write.

Hayden left her seat and crossed the room to find a different cat. There were so many all over, so how could she choose just one? What if the others felt left out because she didn't pick them? Eventually she just stopped and looked to find the closest cat to her. It was a brown tom cat washing himself. She watched closely and counted. One, two, three. Good. Any more or less and that would have meant someone was upset. She was glad that wasn't the answer. She started to write things down when the cat moved again. He swatted the air and ran off in that direction. What did that mean? Hayden consulted the book and continued writing.

Lifting her attention from Hagan to the board she let out a tiny sigh at allllll the notes. Every time she finished writing something down there was more! Squirming around in her seat she looked around the room at all the cats trying to get an idea of which ones she wanted to observe for this task.
That was a lot of kitties! Not that it mattered just yet cause she needed to finish her notes! Scribble, scribble...
Finally!
Time to get started. Picking Hagan up off her lap she set the Calico down on her desk and got to her feet. Hagan tilted his head watching her closely as she gathered her parchment and quill. Running a hand over her cats head she whispered to him, "Stay here, I'll be back in just a moment." She knew he wouldn't stay but it was worth a try.
Just as she expected the cat leapt from the desk padding behind her as she turned and walked away. Chuckling softly she shook her head before something came to her. Wait! Wasn't a cat following you something??
Scanning her notes she grinned brightly and wrote down on her parchment.

She wasn't sure which one of her answers was correct but if she had to choose she'd say he was jealous.
Woopsss I guess he was busy looking at the textbook pictures of the cats instead of the ones in front of him. He grinned sheepishly and laughed it off. "Sorry Professor but I was just looking in the textbook instead of the actual cats. My badd." Now onto activity time. He heard the directions and flipped his textbook to the assigned pages.

Once he reached the pages he found what the Professor was talking about. Ah so now this made more sense. He copied them down into his book and then he saw the four cats up front they would be observing. He thought they were adorable. He caught Norah looking at a black cat in the corner and he thought why not go check it out. I mean he did raise the superstition idea in front of the Professor might as well go see what they are really made of.
He walked over to the black cat with his notebook and was prepared to do his reading. As he began to observe it, he saw it all stretched out. It seemed comfortable and he grinned and pet his belly. He or she seemed to love it. He looked down at his notes and scribbled....

1.The black cat with dark yellow eyes was laid out in a stretch out position. The stretched out position it means that good days are ahead with lots of sun.
As he looked at his reading, he couldn't argue with that. He did like lots of sun. Now onto finding his next cat.
Those damn snaps, they were making her crack a smile. It wasn't just the snap, but the way Professor Morgan did it that Beverly couldn't help grin. "Thank you." The professor might not of known, but she was sort of making her day better as well as her mood. As Morgan moved along, Beverly bit her lip to hide the smile, though it did feel nice. Maybe she should do it more often?
Meeeh.
Now they were to do their own interpretations with cats. Beverly wasn't complaining. This was better than scrying with crystal balls. It still struck her that she had not been able to see anything and it wasn't because of lack of intent.
Standing up from her seat, notes and textbook in hand, she wandered over to the lounging cats by the window. Well, she was trying to when suddenly something caught between her feet, and afraid she'd accidentally step on the nosy cat, she leaped forward, saving both from embarrassment.
Morgan and her killer cats, that was the new title.
"I could have stepped on you," she chastised gently. That was a close one. She was sure Professor Morgan wouldn't appreciate one of her killer cats stepped on.
.........A killer cat that was currently following Beverly toward the windows. She skimmed the page on the textbook then at the cat. "So I'm getting money, 's that it?" Really? Laaaame.
She jotted that down. Seems like I'm going to receive money. Boo.

For starters Margo was going to look around the room her own little Hera would be there after she saw other kittens. She loved her, and was going to observe her last. So what was her other feline friends doing. There was a tom cat across the way was standing up Looking at her, and then all of sudden he started to bat at something in the air...... looking at her notes, Margo will apparently be getting news soon.
Okay, now Margo needed to find herself another cat, getting up from her desk Margo started to make her way across the room. But then she heard a meow. And saw that Hera her own lovely girl was following her across the room...that had to mean something. Checking her notes again..... that meant that she would be getting money....

Moving on to the next cat. Adi's eyes settled a pure black cat. Well, it was all black except for its tail which was white. This was the next feline he would be observing. Unlike the first one, this one didn't seem to know it was being watched. Not that Adi minded.
The cat just layed there for a while as it watched the students closest to it then a short while later, it stretched itself out. "If a cat is fully stretched out it means that good days are ahead with lots of sun." Heh. "I'd prefer the cold but okay.''

Eden was feeling more confident--so there was a whooooole section in their book about this stuff? Okay. Scribbling some notes, she quickly wanted to find a cat to study. And Eden didn't mind being wrong about this stuff becauuuuse she hadn't ANY experience before now? And everyone else seemed just as puzzled as she did. So. Yeah. She didn't feel TOO dumb.
But flipping open her book, she eyed the little chart. So she just had to memorize this stuff to be a pro at it. Right? It seemed much more.....straight forward than...say...crystal gazing? Which required some sort of concentration and whatnot.
The first cat she wanted to look at was...well...hmm. She stood up and knelt down next to the black and white striped cat. A tabby one. Hmm. She took notice...he was...he seemed still right now..but he was peering at Eden so quizzically. And then, he swatted a little into the air--Eden grinned. He was so CUTE. She didn't try to touch him or anything because she wanted his honest action. Glancing in her book, she saw that--OH.
GOOD NEWS?!
Eden loved good news. But when he stopped that suddenly and swished his tail over her hands, she wondered...hmm.
COULD SHE...TRUST THIS CAT? Huh?

The Gryffindor looked around the room at the various cats and oh Merlin, this was a bit overwhelming. He was all for creatures, but uh... There were so many of them. AND HE'S A CRUP PERSON, OKAY??? But there was one cat sitting right there next to him.... Which meant.... Maybe Cinna wouldn't mind sharing and they could figure out what her Merlin guy wanted in life. And oh, since the little Ravenclaw was here too, might as well get him to join. That is, if he wanted to....
UM anyways. Turning to Cinna, he smiled, "Hey, wanna team up and figure out what your cat is trying to tell us?" Because that would be just great. That way, they wouldn't have to try to pick one out of the billion and three that were just circling around. That'd be way too difficult okay? That could be one of the cats the figure out. And then... Just three more after that, right?
Right. Which meant uh. Just had to pick three more random cats out of the huge pile of them out there. How come they just couldn't figure out three different positions of this one cat? What if Merlin was trying to say a bunch of different things and not just one thing, y'know? Maybe he was a talkative cat! Or not. Eh. Again, cruppy person over here people.

It was time for playtime seeing as the cat that had followed her suddenly pounced on another. Cute. She wanted one. Too bad her dad was allergic to them and none were allowed within a fifty mile radius of their home. Exaggerated dad is exaggerated.
Leaning against the windowsill, she briefly went over the interpretations so that she knew what she was looking for. When that was done she gazed around, multi-colored eyes falling on white, fluffy cat. It was walking at a leisure pace when it's hind legs bent and with all four paws pushed itself off the ground and onto a desk.
Jumping cat.
Did that mean something? She checked the textbook for an answer.......and didn't like it one bit. Uh-uh. That was just creepy, okay. Wrinkling her nose, she wrote it down.
An intruder is coming my way. Will kick and hex bum if needed. Which she would do no matter what. An intruder was an intruder and nobody intruded her life.
This was this assignment? Getting to play and observe cats? Coooooool.
And very dangerous, actually. 15-30% of all people are allergic to cats. Seemed like a risky topic to Hugh, but what did he know? Lol. Jk. Everything.
Not in a conceited way. In a he-was-always-isolating-himself-to-read-and-learn-and-was-kind-of-weird-in-a-swagtastic-way.
As he collected his parchment to jot down some notes, he noticed a cat was following him. Yo, buzz off, feline. Did the cat not SEE that he was busy trying to do the assigment?
He picked up the pace trying to get away from follow-me-kitty. Didn't work. So faster and faster and faster he went. Until he was flailing around the room trying to get the cat to stop following him.
