| | The Bronze Knocker
If you've reached the seventh floor corridor, then you have almost reached the Ravenclaw Common Room... assuming you know where it is.
At the top of a spiral staircase is a door without a doorknob or keyhole but a bronze knocker in the shape of an eagle. In order to enter the Ravenclaw common room, a person must answer a riddle asked by the eagle knocker; if they answer incorrectly, they must wait for someone else who gets it right. This might lead overconfident non-Ravenclaws to believe that they could break into the common room at any time, but then they would have over-exerted themselves climbing all the way up there only to be made to feel stupid by a simple door knocker.
If you're waiting on a friend, you can have a seat on the staircase leading up to the knob-less door and feel grateful that you don't have to walk all this way every day just to go to bed.

Shoving her hands into her pockets a bit timidly once he took the cake from her, she gave him a calculating look, "Should we leave this with the house elves and come back and eat it after presents? M'sure they'll make sure no one touches it, and we'll have to come back down here to drop off your presents in your common room anyway." Pause. "So, if y'want, I can drop the cake back off in the kitchens while you go drop your... pogo stick off, and we'll meet back here? But on the way up, you'll have to tell me about your..." she already forgot what they had just called it, and she grinned as she continued along, "...bouncing toy thing. Never seen one of those before." How did he even get it here? It was quite the present for an owl to bring for him, even if it came packaged much smaller.
Tobes sure had a cool life. So that's what they did. Tobes had gone with Soph back to the kitchens to drop the cake off, fully intending to come straight back as soon as possible to devour the thing. It was a shame to destroy it but cake was for eating, right? And eat it they would.
And now they were up at the seventh floor, and Toby had been trying to explain all about his pogo stick and how they worked and what was so fun about them. Mainly he'd just been so preoccupied with the fact that he loved to keep moving, and the pogo stick was perfect for a kid like him with boundless energy. Toby explained that you could do tricks, and that this pogo stick was one of the best you could get, and how you could jump super high with it. He even went on, in an weird and overly happy manner, and about all the times he'd fallen down the stairs while bouncing and gotten at least three concussions, because they weren't technically made for use on stairs.
He let Sophie walk ever so slightly in front of him, because Tobias didn't have much of a clue of where they were headed. Had he been down this corridor before? It seemed familiar, but Toby couldn't say before. "-So this morning, when the post came, an owl delivered that pogo stick, but there was no note so I don't know who got it. Whoever got it really did their research though; it's one of the best. I've wanted one for ages."
Toby glanced around him. "Are we near your common room, then?" the Hufflepuff asked. He knew vaguely where the Claws lived, but only that it was in one of the upper levels. Every time he'd run into Soph up here it had always been way closer to the moving staircase. He'd never been down this particular corridor before; it was nice to know a specific place to go if he ever needed his best friend or something. Assuming they were in the right place, of course. "I don't see any barrels."

"I don't see any barrels." The pogo stick thing was really cool, and Sophie had soon decided that he needed to bring it outside some time so she could try it, too. Once they hit the seventh floor, she led the way without thinking, still engrossed in all that was Toby and his pogo stick and his birthday and how cool his life was. "M'glad they got it for you, then. You deserve everything you've ever wanted today." She was being totally dramatic, but she MEANT IT. Hehe.
"Uh huh," she insisted, leading him just a little further to the base of a staircase. Giggling at him, then, she shook her head, "We don't have barrels, that's just you guys. Have you really never explored and spied on the entrances of other common rooms?" She totally had. All she had to do was follow the right member of a house her first term and act totally casual about it. "We have this knocker thing right up this staircase instead of a doorknob or whatever - it gives us a riddle, and we have to solve it to get inside. If we get it wrong, we have to wait for someone else to come along and solve it correctly. S'never the same or anything, always challenges us to have a ready mind and all that." She shrugged once, then started up the stairs, "You can come see, if you want, or y'can have a seat here and wait for me. I'll just be a minute or two."
Whether he wanted to follow or not, Sophie successfully answered the bronze eagle's riddle, raced up to her dormitory, and returned to Toby in about two minutes, a large box in her grasp wrapped in sky blue wrapping paper with a navy blue bow on top. "Got it," she said, sitting on the steps at the bottom of the staircase and offering it to him. "Happy birthday, Tobes." She was grinning big, reviewing the contents in her mind's eye, each object individually wrapped in its own wrapping paper inside the box. Just to tease him a little. Hehe.
SHE WAS SO EXCITED FOR HIM.

SHE WAS SO EXCITED FOR HIM. Toby merely shook his head. He'd always loved to explore the castle, but never really went out of his way to try and find the other common rooms. For reasons. He was intrigued by what Sophie told him, though; of course Ravenclaws had to answer a riddle to get into their common room. It would explain why they all seemed to be on top of their logic game and stuff.
When Sophie made her way up the stairs, Toby paused, unable to decide whether or not to follow. In the end, curiosity won him over, and he figured it wasn't like he was going INSIDE or anything, right? He stayed a few steps down, watching as his best friend spoke to the knocker, answering a riddle that Toby might have taken a long while and at least three guesses to get right. She disappeared into the common room, and Toby went back to the bottom of the stairs.
Soon enough, Soph was back, and Toby turned at her, beaming as she handed over a box. This was exciting; Tobias didn't recall being this excited for a birthday present since he was a little kid. He opened the box and started rifling through.
A lot of the stuff he recognised, like the cracker, which he wanted to pull immediately. Some of his bought a mischievous glint to his eye, which was rarely seen by anyone other than Soph. Toby paused then as he happened upon a mirror... and a tiny vial. He stared at them both for a while before something clicked. "Is that... are these really...?" the Hufflepuff said, staring from the box to Sophie's face again, looking almost stunned at the wonderful presents. Without waiting for an answer, Toby simply enveloped Soph into a great big hug, trying to show his gratitude with that simple action, which was basically impossible. "I love it. All of it. Thanks so much, Soph."
Squeeeeeeeeesh.

Squeeeeeeeeesh. Sophie might have almost even been more excited for Toby to open the present than he was. There was a big ol' grin plastered upon her face the whole time he dug through the box, and she kept looking from the contents in his hands to his face, eager for his reaction. "Really. D'you know what they are? S'not just a mirror, of course - I have a matching one. It's a two-way, so we can... well, y'know, always keep in touch, even from opposite sides of the castle or world or whatever." They were hugging, then, and Sophie gave him a happy embrace, but then untangled herself from him because she had more explaining to do. Hehe.
"Y'know what the vial is, then? Culloden... he gave me a vial of it as a present, which is a secret, by the way, 'cause apparently... I've made him really proud and feel lucky to be teaching us and stuff, and honestly I have no idea what I'll use my half for, but... I knew I didn't need the whole vial for myself, so I knew I wanted to share it with you. Thought some day you might need some luck. Could save your life or something, even." She gave a one-armed shrug, a bit uncharacteristically bashful, then she nodded down at the fireworks in the box. "And if anyone asks, you didn't get those from me." HEHE.

"I can make a pretty good guess," Toby interjected, before Sophie gave her explanation. He'd heard of two-way mirrors from his grandparents. When they were at school, his grandfather was a couple of years older, and they'd procured a set of two-way mirrors to ease the time apart once his grandfather had graduated. They'd become lost when the two were married and no longer had much use for them, but Toby had heard all about them. And unless Soph had been trying to cheekily hint things about his possible vanity by giving him a regular mirror (which was, admittedly, also very likely), Toby has assumed that this was one of those special mirrors.
Once they'd stopped hugging, Toby reached into the box and pulled out the vial to inspect it closer. "Wow," he said in obvious awe, tipping the stoppered vial slightly so he could examine the colour of the liquid and the way it shone in the light. "I've read about this a while ago. Never thought I'd ever be able to try it."
Toby placed it ever-so-gently back into the box and grinned at all the gifts. He then placed the lid carefully back onto the box and turned to face Sophie a little better. "They're wonderful. It's all brilliant," he said with a huge grin, as he reached for her hand and laced his fingers between hers. "This is the best birthday ever, Soph. Thank you." Could they hug again? COULD THEY? 'Cause otherwise she might see him cry from happiness at all the amazing gifts.
And, of course, he'd never spill about the fireworks. Ehehe.

'Course, maybe I could do it some day and get to try it then, too, buuut..." She hesitated. Should she tell him that she and Culloden were brewing it together this term as an educational thing? It was supposed to be a secret - but they were besties - but... no. When she thought of the tone the professor had used to inform her how big of a secret was that they were going to be brewing it on their own, she decided it wasn't worth it. Sharing half the vial with Tobes was enough for now. "...I'm glad we'll get to try it without any of that hassle." Hehe. True.
His happiness was her happiness, then, as he turned to face her. Giving his hand a giddy squeeze after he laced his fingers with hers, she beamed. "I'm glad you like it all. And you haven't even tasted the cake yet." HEHE. "Wanna head down? S'calling your name." She eyed the box in his hand, then nudged him a little, "And you've still gotta do your cracker." In case he forgot with all the other cool things he had.

Right now, nothing struck him as incredibly important, so he'd be putting it to one side for a while, until he really did need it.
That stupid grin was still on his face. The grin that Sophie probably saw more than any other person who knew Toby, and the Hufflepuff gave a nod. Ah yes. Cake. "Cake sounds like the best idea."
But oh yes, the cracker. Toby delved into the box again and pulled it out. He got to his feet, and offered a hand to Soph to help her up, before offering her the other end of the cracked. "Will you do the honours?" he said, in a mock-pompous voice.

"Will you do the honours?" he said, in a mock-pompous voice. Toby's stupid grin was contagious, it seemed, because every time Sophie looked up at Tobes from his gifts, she couldn't help but get a goofy grin on her face, too. He was very puppyish and endearing and she wanted to reach out and ruffle his hair. But she didn't. Not this time. It was his birthday. She wouldn't tease him too much. This was HIS day to do whatever HE wanted. She was just a background character or trusty accomplice. Hehe.
Taking his hand excitedly to stand, Soph obediently took her end of the cracker, still grinning the grandest of grins as she braced herself for what was to come. She did a quick check of their surroundings to make sure no one was about to walk on by and have a heart attack - the coast was clear, it seemed, so she figured they'd better do it fast. "Okay, on three. Ready? One... twooooo....... three!" BOOOOOOM!
Engulfed in a cloud of blue smoke, Sophie coughed through delighted giggles as she waved her free hand in front of her face to clear the smoke away enough for her to see that she had the small part of the cracker, and then she waved away the cloud enough to see Tobes and giggle at him. "You win," she supplied helpfully, though certain he already knew.
She felt something brush against her pant leg, then, and raised a curious eyebrow down at a pure white mouse. "Looks like you've got some new friends, Tobes." There was one near his foot, too, burrowing itself into a top hat. Precious.

So, Tag had everything set up at long last. He found himself a little place for his would be frog to live, and managed to find froggy some food by going to Thompson. Now all he needed to do was pick up his frog, get any pointers from Lily and any advice she had for him, and anything else like that, then he would be bonding with his new pet.
The boy found himself standing right outside the Ravenclaw common room, waiting for Lily to come out whenever they had planned for this to happen today. He held a small matchbox he had transfigured, in his hand, completely empty, of course.

He held a small matchbox he had transfigured, in his hand, completely empty, of course. Any escape from completely feeling trapped was welcome by now. Lily had practically given up on leaving the common room fire aside from classes and the occasional meal with how cold it had been inside the castle. She couldn’t live on chocolate chip cookies and sugar quills forever, and she hadn’t figured out how to transport tea safely up from the kitchens either. Therefore, she’d had to leave for that, and now she was preparing to meet up with Tag to let him pick one of the frogs Marius and Cosette had had a few months ago. She was still looking for homes for most of the others as well, but he was going to get first pick. She’d carefully gotten the duplicated terrarium that held all of the froglets out of her dorm and slipped out into the corridor easily.
“Hey,” she said with a smile as she saw the Gryffindor waiting outside the knocker. She’d almost run right into him, but everything was okay. Froglets were still safe in the charmed terrarium, since she’d definitely not wanted them to get cold. Tropical frogs and freak blizzards didn’t mix very well, but that’s where charms came in. Even when she’d had two terrariums to deal with due to the influx. At least they weren’t large.

Ah, there came Lily, with her collection of frogs at the ready as well. Tag tried to glance a peek at them while she made her way over to her. There were a few and Tag wondered if he could decide which one he wanted, or Lily had them all picked out for people, in case others had gone to her about wanting a frog for their own.
" There you are." Tag said as she stood a few feet from him. It wasn't like Tag had expected her to arrive from anywhere but he'd been waiting nonetheless, not too long though. Just a normal amount of time. " So, do I get to choose which frog I want, or is that for you to decide? Any tips as well?" He asked. Tips would be appreciated, especially with this weather. Tag figured that a mad blizzard wasn't exactly something frogs favored, any types of frogs for that matter.

There was no reason to make Tag think she was laughing at him, especially since she felt like the whole amusement might have just been a result of being cooped up. She’d never really had a problem with having to stay inside, but when it was impossible for her to leave when she wanted to it was kind of annoying. But she had a frog transaction to take c are of, giving up one of the several that she had in the terrarium in her hands. “Yep. He had gone straight to the question without the instigation anyhow, though. “You can pick whichever you like the most. I haven’t found anyone else who wants any, so you get first pick,” she answered. Any ideas as to who else might be open to adopting frogs would be welcome too. She didn’t think her boyfriend needed to take like five frogs off her hands. A couple were good enough. “They’re pretty easy. They eat bugs, moths mostly, and they like climbing on things,” hence the branches and stuff in the terrarium in her hands, although the young tree frogs hadn’t figured that out as much as Marius and Cosette knew from experience back in their own terrarium in her dorm. “I’ve just kept heating charms on the terrarium pretty much all the time lately. They like the warmth since they’re tropical, so the warmer the better. And humidity too.” It was more complicated given the stupid blizzard outside and the freezing temperatures.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Octavius Jude Salander Ravenclaw Second Year | For CB! :3 Slytherindor ♛ The Crazytastic Besties ♛ Shan Watson ♛ Simon was nervous. He didn't know what he HAD been thinking about sending a letter off to CB about hanging out. He hadn't seen her in days and was pretty sure that she perhaps was busy doing other things but he gave it a chance. And lo and behold, he had received a speedy reply. After sending her back one more final letter, Simon scurried through his trunk, trying to find something relatively nice but casual to wear. He pulled on his dark woolen sweater, grabbed his coat, and climbed the many stairs.
How many stairs were there?
He didn't know the exact number but there WERE a ton of them because by the time he reached the seventh floor, he was breathless. Simon took a moment to catch his breath and then proceeded over to the bronze knocker. Now all he had to do was wait.
The more he waited, the more nervous the Snake became.

The more he waited, the more nervous the Snake became. It really shouldn't have taken that long to pick an outfit. But seeing as Coral-Bay been sitting around in four layers of clothing under a bunch of blankets, as her and Sophie had conned bribed pleasantly asked a bunch of elves for some extras and had become quite possibly one of the warmest places in the whole castle. Which meant she wouldn't leave for just anything. Yet here she was, getting all ready and snuggly for walking because a boy wants to spend time with her.
Hehe. A boy.
But down the stairs she went, and through the common room she almost skipped. She went through the entrance way and wasn't really expecting to immediately be greeted by the boy.
Hi Simon. Smiles for you.

Hi Simon. Smiles for you. Simon was waiting with hands stuck in his coat pocket and then CB arrived. And she was smiling. She was gorgeous. He already could tell that he was going to spend most of the night stuttering like a complete buffoon. But it seemed like something he'd enjoy to do in front of her- though he'd never admit it. Her smile made him feel comfortable and he felt incredibly relieved. He felt a sudden feeling of relief wash over him like waves crashing gently onto the beach and washing away mysterious footprints and seashells alike.
Simon couldn't help but smile back. " Hey," he said and then struggled to find the next few words to tell the beautiful Ravenclaw. He couldn't believe that she of all people had agreed to go on an adventure with him. He felt completely out of her league. " Err... Are you ready for an adventure of a lifetime?" Ooh. Maybe that would raise too many expectations. " I mean.. ready for an awesome adventure?" Did ya see the alliteration there? Huh? Huh? he thought. Ugh, you dork, said his inner voice.

Coral tugged on her hat. It had an awful habit of sliding up on her head and creating a rat's nest of a mess or her straight, dark locks. She was even tempted to pet her own head. Merlin, this hat was warm and fuzzy and she liked resting her head on it sometimes.
She moved closer to him, her grin fading a bit as she listened and nodded along to what he was saying. He was so cute. Stutters and all. She wanted to touch his hair like she wanted to touch most hair of the boys she knew. Hehe. She could get away with it when Kyroh was around. She could ruffle it and he wouldn't mind so much. He even let her hold his hand and they clung to each other sometimes. He was kind of like the little brother she didn't have, minus the arguments she assumed would come with that sort of relationship. "What sort of adventure do you have planned for me?" 'Cause y'know. She liked plans. Hallie rubbed off on her in that way. "Where are you going to take me?"

He stared at her with wide blue eyes for a second and then realized that she had asked something. " What sort of adventure?" he repeated and then gave her a wicked grin. " Well, you have two options today, my lady." He paused, wondering why in Merlin's Beard he had gone so formal all of a sudden.
Seriously Simon. Pull it together man. Anyway......
The plan. Well... " We could start by the Astronomy Tower and then work our way down to the Kitchens. Or.. or we could go have a snowball fight in the Great Hall and then go to the Kitchens for a hot chocolate or something," he beamed. Either way they'd end up nice, toasty, and warm by the end of it all. So.. Now he had to find out what she thought of it all. " What do you think? Which adventure shall we take?" he asked with a bright smile. He wasn't even stumbling anymore (or yet).

Tag kept his eyes on them, trying to figure out which one he liked best and could keep.
" No one at all? I mean, besides me." Tag said a little surprised. Maybe he should've seen that coming. People enjoyed pets but, maybe, they enjoyed the more normal pets, you know? Dogs, cats, hamsters, mice, things like that. Frogs needed some loving too. " One of my best friend's dad's, Alec Summers..." The blonde wasn't sure if Lily had ever talked to or had known Alec, " Is a vet. Maybe they want a frog too? Or Alec?" Tag could definitely see Alec merrily taking a frog, but with no way to contact him, Tag wasn't so sure on just getting Alec the frog before asking. But, first pick, awesome. More glancing and studying happened and Tag pointed at the slightly dotted yellow frog. " I think I want that one, I like the patterns on it." Mhm.
Then came the informational part. Tag paid close attention nodding at the types of foods Lily said the frogs were most likely to eat. Here at Hogwarts it shouldn't be too hard to find critters like that around corridors, or Tag could ask Thompson, but back home, that'd be tricky. " Moths and bugs. Got that. And, I don't have anything for them to climb on, not yet at least." Tag said. Was there spells to conjure that type of environment? " But, as long as their little home is kept warm at all times, that should be enough to do it, for the moment, yeah?" He wanted the best for his frog, even in this horrible living condition.

Her own cheeks flushed slightly, but she tried to grin through it. "I like options." Very much so. Maybe it ran in the family. Hence why she had a twin. Things were better in multiples, she'd always thought.
She clicked her heels together and nodded her head as he explained the options to her. As usual though, she had questions. "Would we be doing anything at the Astronomy Tower? Or would we just hangout and talk? Or maybe even walk past it? What did you have planned?" Maybe she was being a bit annoying with all the questions, but she liked being thorough unless she could read people's expressions well enough to stop. After his answer, she could make a well informed decision.
She twirled her hair, waiting for an answer.

She twirled her hair, waiting for an answer. Oh so she had taken the my lady thing well, hey? Simon mentally patted himself on the back for that. Nice one, kiddo. Smart move, he heard his inner voice tell him. He smiled a little more as he became more relaxed. Ah, she liked options? Good, good. Another mental pat for the Slytherin boy. See? Hanging out with a pretty girl wasn't so hard after all.
Ah question time! He loved answer questions for he could show off his knowledge. He loved explaining things to people- it was just so much fun.
Anyway, now for her questions. " I.. I was...was going to opt for walk by it because its probably freezing up there and then we could head down to the kitchens and hang out or maybe cook something if you want," Simon explained. He did have a new cookie recipe that his parents had sent over for him to try making. Besides cooking was fun! " So what do you think?"

"But, as long as their little home is kept warm at all times, that should be enough to do it, for the moment, yeah?" He wanted the best for his frog, even in this horrible living condition. Every once in a while, Lily had glanced down to make sure the froglets were still okay, considering she hadn’t ever taken the terrarium outside of her dorm before now. The movement might have scared them, but they looked okay. They were still climbing the little branches and everything that were inside, replicas of the ones in Marius and Cosette’s terrarium, just kind of slowly. She might need to check on the temperature soon, but hopefully it would last until she’d gotten Tag to choose which one he wanted.
“Well, Austin said he’d take them, but I told him he could have the ones I didn’t find other homes for,” she admitted. She wasn’t going to make her boyfriend look after half a dozen frogs just for her. “I haven’t really asked a lot of people though. There’s been so much else going on lately, you know?” Snow inside the Great Hall and things like that. She couldn’t wait for that to end so they could see the sun again. Feel the sun, even. Anything but the freezing cold that was getting annoying. “Oh, I know Alec!,” she replied brightly as the former Hufflepuff head boy had been mentioned. “Maybe, but we should probably ask first. If it was even possible to ask right now.” Cue frown. Another reason she was tired of the weather.
She’d nodded as Tag had finally pointed out which frog he wanted. “Okay,” she said, shifting her hold to lower a finger inside so the chosen froglet could climb on. They’d need to make the transfer fast, so it didn’t freeze. “I’m sure it’ll be okay. Might climb the walls of the container for awhile, but it shouldn’t be hard to get other stuff for it to climb. Maybe Professor Bentley could give you some branches or something.” She couldn’t remember if he’d been in the bonsai Herbology lesson, but then, he probably wouldn’t want to put his tree in the container anyway. She wasn’t about to let the frogs climb her elm. The elm might think they were fairies and try to eat them. “Yep. At least it’s easier to keep them warm than it is us.” The frogs were a lot smaller, after all.

Let alone have a couple to look after." said Tag. They weren't the typical pet, of course. Took more maintenance, and care to look over. The blonde though, should've seen that type of answer coming, but he didn't. So he nodded, after thinking through what Lily had said. " Of course. I'm pretty sure the corridors are mostly always deserted now. I know I stay cooped up in the common room or my dorm, and only come out of my house when necessary." He said. But, at least Lily had gotten a hopeful Tag in wanting a frog for his own. The way Lily had reacted to hearing Alec's name made Tag smile. He'd missed him, clearly, and he hadn't heard his name for quite some time, from anyone really, so how happy Lily sounded to hear of Alec made Tag happy too. " I think asking would be appreciated. I don't know how I'd take a random pet from a friend, though." Tag said laughing quietly. Though Alec would probably not hesitate to take the frog for his own. " Besides, his flat, and his dad's house is probably a zoo, I think they have more than enough pets."
Almost like Tag. Currently three at home, one in Tag's dorm at the moment and one to be Tag's newest pet in a couple of minutes time.
There came more listening and nodding from Tag. " Yeah, I forgot I could go to Bentley about this." said Tag. " Thank you for reminding me though, of Bentley perhaps being able to help with the actual environment, I hadn't thought about that until this very moment." And now that he remembered, it wouldn't slip his mind so easily. He could also go to Thompson again, though he didn't want to bother his Professor over this more. " True." Tag agreed on the keeping the frogs warm part. " But, they have to be monitored a bit more as well, with this 'weather' their water could freeze up rather quickly." A hot air charm would be needed at all times until this was all over.
He watched Lily retrieve the frog Tag had picked out, and he quickly, but carefully gave the frog a little nudge off from her finger, and helped it get inside the matchbox. There, now froggy was almost safe. Tag got his wand out from his holster and performed a hot air charm, not too much though. He didn't want the frog to be burning up in there.
" Now, for a name." Tag laughed. He'd actually never named any of his pets so this would be a first. And he wouldn't mess it up.

So he nodded, after thinking through what Lily had said. "Of course. "I think asking would be appreciated. I don't know how I'd take a random pet from a friend, though." Tag said laughing quietly. Though Alec would probably not hesitate to take the frog for his own. "Besides, his flat, and his dad's house is probably a zoo, I think they have more than enough pets."
Almost like Tag. Currently three at home, one in Tag's dorm at the moment and one to be Tag's newest pet in a couple of minutes time.
There came more listening and nodding from Tag. "Yeah, I forgot I could go to Bentley about this." said Tag. "Thank you for reminding me though, of Bentley perhaps being able to help with the actual environment, I hadn't thought about that until this very moment." And now that he remembered, it wouldn't slip his mind so easily. He could also go to Thompson again, though he didn't want to bother his Professor over this more. "True." "Now, for a name." Tag laughed. He'd actually never named any of his pets so this would be a first. And he wouldn't mess it up. Tag’s musing had gotten a shrug from the Ravenclaw. Lily had honestly never thought about how strange it might have been to have frogs as pets. Frogs deserved people just as much as any other animal, and they were in the Wizarding world. Unusual pets seemed more like they were the norm than anything else, as she thought about Cleo, Astrid and their sugar glider family. “It is nice of him, but I know he’s doing it for me,” she admitted. “And there could be more people with frogs for pets if they only came out and said they wanted one,” she continued, grinning a little. She had plenty at the moment, even subtracting the one he was taking and a few for Austin and herself. “I haven’t really left my common room much lately either. I think everyone is just trying to stay warm.” Hot air and insulation charms could only work so much. The fire in their common rooms worked so much better.
She’d smiled again at Tag’s reaction to, well, her reaction t his mention of Alec. She’d honestly never even thought about if people who weren’t at Hogwarts anymore might have wanted a frog or two, but then, that could have been because it was easier to try and find homes before the term was over. Especially when it seemed like there was no way of contacting anyone outside of the castle anymore. “Well, it isn’t like the frogs take up that much space. Maybe we could ask him later,” she commented. It wouldn’t hurt to ask, after all, even if Alec said no. Plus, she didn’t see how it was possible to have too many pets, even though she only had Gavroche and her frogs, along with her parents’ cat back at home. Unless she counted the pets at Aunt Elizabeth’s too, since that was where she’d been living lately.
She’d nodded as he’d agreed to her idea of asking Professor Bentley for help. It had made sense to her, and he didn’t seem completely illogical. “Honestly, I’d thought about her because of our bonsais,” she admitted with a laugh. “But I think she’d be good to ask about environment. Either her or Professor Thompson.” Which reminded her that she hadn’t figured out how they’d have any CoMC lessons while they were snowed in. “True. I haven’t had a lot of issues with their water freezing though, not since I keep the charms up in the terrariums pretty much all the time.” It kept more than just the frogs warm, but then, she also had to admit that keeping things tropical in there when it was so cold in the castle was more complicated than it should be.
Luckily, the frog was transferred into Tag’s box rather quickly, before it could feel too much of the frigid air from the corridor, and she’d watched as he’d cast the charm. Hopefully that would be okay and it hadn’t had too much of a shock from the move. “Of course,” she’d replied with a grin. All pets needed names. Although she figured Tag wouldn’t be like her, giving everything names from a book.

Hopefully that would be okay and it hadn’t had too much of a shock from the move. “Of course,” she’d replied with a grin. All pets needed names. Although she figured Tag wouldn’t be like her, giving everything names from a book. Tag already had a kneazle and a turtle, adding a frog into the list of pets he had wouldn't seem too weird for him. And he could already see Saxon's reactions of being super confused to a brand new pet Tag was bringing back home. But frogs, out of the normal pets, needed more love, yes. " Of course. There's probably one or two amphibian lovers out there. You just got get them out of their safe zone." He said with a small smile. And, yes, they were all definitely trying to stay warm. Tag knew he was. Besides, he didn't want to be out in the corridors where it was snowing... Indoors. No. He wasn't for that.
" Yeah, later. When we hopefully have contact with the outside world." said Tag agreeing. Though, he had a strong feeling that the first time for 'contact with the outside world' meant 'after this entire mess is figured out and we're on the Hogwarts express'. Typical Hogwarts. " He already has a ton of pets, so he must have lots of space at his place." laughed Tag. The Summers' place was practically a zoo with all those animals.
Thompson and Bentley. Very good choices in terms of who to go to for this type of animal care. Both could provide their own type of advice for Tag and his newly owned frog. " I'll try and see either, if not, both of them, before the end of term. So, rather quickly." He said with a nod. When it came to pets one could never be lazy about it and take forever to do a simple task. " I'll keep it in mind. Keeping the dorm warm. Not that I already don't." He'd even gone to putting up extra blankets on the windows so that some of the heat got trapped into the material.
Tag glanced at the box and then looked up to Lily. " Err.. do you know if they're all males or females?" He asked nervously. He didn't want to give the frog a wrong name, you know. It wasn't too important he could find the frog a gender neutral name. But, if Lily knew, it would be better than nothing. " Its no problem if you aren't sure either." He added with a slightly reassuring smile.
