Staff Dais banner by Alec Summers (hermionesclone) The school staff take their meals at a long table on a raised dais at the back of the Great Hall. The usual Hogwarts crest hanging behind them has returned, fully restored and looking brand new. The staff are also happily using the school's real silver silverware and heavy plates and goblets as they dine. |
Ali ^_^ Javy had been sleeping particularly well lately, as he headed on early for a nice breakfast. Some muffins and toast with jam on the side of the pancakes. Pouring himself some hot tea to drink with. He then opened up the Daily Prophet once the owls arrived before checking up on the news. He had hoped for something exciting that didn't mix with danger in it today. |
Hi Joel hiiiiiiiiiii "Good morning, Javier," Anastasia greeted her earliest-rising coworker as she stepped upon the dais. She didn't say much else because she hadn't had her tea yet, but she did take her traditional seat in the middle of the table. Annnnd time for some tea. And fruit. Fruit and yogurt, yes, that would make a good breakfast. Annie hid a yawn as she started making her own bowl. |

"Morning Annie! Javy!" The brunette greeted brightly. "I have a surprise for you!" You know, besides her return ... |
Hola, chicos! Just wonderful. She had managed to come along just in time for a cold snap. "Remember that freakish cold in winter of 2070? That was about the worst winter I remember." Giant icicles in May were unheard of. As they rounded the corner into the cafeteria space, Lolita was mildly impressed. The ceiling was muy interesante, if a bit grey. Did it reflect the outdoors, or did a maintenance team pick the decor for the day? Ah, she must be a surprise, then? Her friend had neglected to owl ahead, apparently. "Hola" she said simply. |
Annie had bareeeely had time for a few sips of tea before something required her ruling hand. Hem hem. What was it this morning? She slowly lowered her cuppa from her mouth and stared across the rim at them. Them, yes, because Fina had thought it suitable to bring back a "A surprise?" the redhead drawled, her eyes casually flicking toward the visitor and back again. "Pray, do tell." She would pretend to not recognize the woman for now. |
Everyone Her time at this school had been wonderful for the most part even though her animal friends were making her a bit anxious lately, the blonde was still very cheerful. Getting up she decided instead of fixing her usual tea and toast it might be fun to head to the Great hall. Slipping Gemini and Aries into their kittiy purse she made her way down from the tower. Such a lovely little walk in the castle to get to food. Her already happy smile grew as she saw some of the staff at the table. Oh some she didn't know, well this was a great time to meet someone, but first. "Javy Wavy.. hello" She beamed and took a seat next to the man. It didn't matter where they sat now that it wasn't feast time, did it? Looking towards the other three she gave them both waves, "Good morning Headmistress, how are you this morning? Giving the other two women smiles, [b] "Hello, Cassiopeia having a nice morning?" Pulling some toast onto her plate she sighed, "Always meat things." Putting some fruit on her plate she turned back to Javy. "So glad I caught you. I was in the stables and you might be having some trouble soon." |

Oops. Perhaps she should have owled, but she'd just gotten so caught up. Between the baby and the husband and preparations for being at school away from the baby for two months and then catching up with Lolita too. But surely Annie would trust her instincts, even if this was unconventional. Quote:

"Anyway," the brunette turned her attention back to the redhead. "You know before coming to Hogwarts in 2072, I taught at the Wizarding Academy in South Africa." She paused but not too long, after all, Annie did have record all her professors previous work experiences. "So it just so happens that on my maternity leave, I got in touch with Ms Domingo. A former colleague from that Wizarding Academy. Also, a skilled numerologist." Surely, despite the early breakfast hour the redhead knew where she was going with this? |
everyone too It only took a moment before he was no longer the lone one at the dais. "Morning Annie," Javy greeted her before taking in some toast to eat. Soon after he could seen not just another lady, but two more of his colleagues arrive along side. "Morning Cassie and welcome back Josephina." And for the inquisitive latina, "Buenos dias, Ms. Domingo." Huh. Just listening to her introduction, perhaps they just secured an another Professor. Well, if she got the Headmistress' approval, that is.. Partially listening to their conversation, Javy did catch a few urgent words from Cassie. In particular with something going on at the Stables that she visited. "Oh? What sort of trouble?" That newspaper of his was less intriguing now. |
Yes, that winter. "Sí sí, that winter. But maybe one before you left, chica." But after that she didn't care much for the weather conversation, since she focused on the long table that appeared to be set aside for staff members. She had only briefly interacted with the Hogwarts Headmistress when the children were romping around the Vipertooth reservation, but she had gotten a very strong impression that the redhead was the type that needed to feel in charge of a situation. So this ought to be good. For now, she seemed to be ignoring the newcomer. Learned self-restraint, have we? But some other man that had not been on the trip seemed to feel he was important enough to inject himself into the proceedings. "Hola" she responded. Was he worth more words? Probably not. |

"Anyway," Annie forced a stiff smile onto her face and set her breakfast aside. She knew exactly where Josephina was going with this, but since the other former Hufflepuff hadn't gotten in touch with her boss before bringing along a potential hire, Anastasia was going to make this difficult. "Why exactly did you get in touch with this 'skilled' numerologist?" She again looked at the other woman for a brief moment. "Was she eager to jump on board Hogwarts' staff?" Hmmmmmmmm? As in, PARTICULARLY and SUSPICIOUSLY eager? The readhead's question was obviously for both Josephina AND the other one, but she only looked at Fina as she asked it. |
Giving a brief nod of appreciation towards Javy when he returned her greeting, she didn't dwell too long as there was more important business to attend to. Like getting the redhead's seal of approval on her Latina friend. She knew Lolita was good, but did Annie know? Ah yes, that winter might have been the one before she left, now that she considered it. It was so long ago, but no matter. More important things. Quote:

SPOILER!!: The two that actually noticed her Oh she was the professor that just had a baby wasn't it? "You were on maternity leave, right?" That was exciting and the blonde did a few happy snaps to her. "Muggle studies that was one of my favorite classes. They are so interesting to learn about. I actually was working with them before coming here." Her grandmothers business was always fun. "Did you say Hufflepuff Head of House? Oh that's fabtastic! I was a Hufflepuff back in the day." Beaming about this, she loved her house of course. "Though if it wasn't for my robes people probably thought I was a Ravenclaw or Gryffindor for as much time as I spent on the seventh floor." Always in the Divination tower at least. Her green eyes turned to Javy taking a bite out of her toast as he spoke to the ones that didn't seem to notice her come in. Not thinking much of it she fully turned to him and placed a hand on his arm. "Yes, I've been feeling a disturbance in the animals around the castle, but it's so off that I can't read them well. So I decided to visit a few and see if I could figure it out." She frowned, not something she did very often. "I still haven't really figured out what's making them so anxious, but I did see the Thestral are going to try to escape from the stables in a few weeks. So I'd be on high alert for this possibility." Her animal visions were never usually wrong, so she made sure to tell them when it would help keep the animals safe. |

LOL we see you Cassie, we're just too *ruffled feathers* right now to talk Quote:

There was a pause during which Anastasia mostly just stared at the two women with pursed lips, but then she stood up and walked down the back of the dais a few steps. "Fina, could we speak privately for a moment, please?" |

But before Annie made a decision. Before she said anything else, she was directing her attention on Fina and at that moment the brunette just KNEW she should have owled. "As you wish," she said, following the redhead towards the corner. |
Quote:
But onto her discussion with Fina. "Right, Josephina--- let's just cut to it." She peeked over the other woman's shoulder, since Fina's back was to the table, just to make sure no one was listening. Good. "Why didn't you owl before you basically hired this woman? I'm not even sure we have it in the budget to allow her to teach at Hogwarts." Actually, it was, but she wasn't going to say that now. "Who is she really? How do we know she can be trusted? It's pretty convenient that she pops up at the field trip and then suddenly appears here at the school as well...." It was a bit stalkery, honestly. "Does she have references?" And why hadn't she just applied on a normal timeline like the rest of the people who tried to work here???!? |

"Yes I should have owled ahead of time and I apologize for not doing so." Fina explained rationally, keeping her cool. "But in case you forgotten, the last two months have been slightly hectic and it was within that time that Lolita had messaged me, inquiring about a position. I should have immediately forwarded it onto you, but I didn't. Nor was I aware that you met her on the field trip. But thing is, Ms Domingo and I worked together for TWO years in South Africa; she knows what's she doing." She inhaled and exhaled a moment. "I guess I just figured it would be better for me to introduce her in person, and I figured my return was the best time to do so." She let out a long sigh, a hopeless look of defeat towards her colleague. "I figured wrong. But since it's not in the budget, I'll go let her down gently ...." And a hopeless look towards the redhead now. |
Is she wasn't so bouncy she'd be given sassy snaps Bunz instead of happy snaps..lol Quote:
Cassie happy snapped towards the woman, "A baby boy, awww how sweet. Do you have pictures I'd love to see." Of course every mother had pictures, but how sad, wasn't she sad leaving her baby to be here at the castle. What dedication to her students. The blonde was giving more snaps at the thought. "I bet he is just so presh" All babies were though. "Oh a Ravenclaw, my older brother was one." He had been the only one in the family. The rest all Hufflepuff, but even as a Ravenclaw Cassie swore he should have been a puff. He fit better with the badgers. Though she wasn't really with him at school so maybe he had been different. "2062 Oh that was the same year I started at Hogwarts. I bet you graduated in the Spring I came in the fall." How funny was that! "You might have known my brother though. He graduated in 2064, the Ravenclaw I said about, Leo Morgan." Taking a bite of her toast she kept her green eyes towards the woman. Quote:
Sitting back sipping her tea Cassie's eyes moved around the great hall. "Is it always this quiet in the mornings?" She wasn't a horrible morning person so the blonde was pretty awake, but the students didn't seem to be. Maybe they needed a bit more sugar in their cereal. Her focus back to the man near her she let go of his arm. "It's never any problem, you know how clear I can see them usually." His question though brought a frown to the blonde. "That's been the issue. There just seems like something is wrong with some of them lately. It's making it very hard to read just one creature." She rubbed her temples. "It seems like all the animals around the castle just want to be very chatty lately. It's been making me very anxious." She tried to think though, "I went in to check on the stable animals oh maybe a three days ago. Two very nice boys in keeping up with your animals. One was asking me all about the Thestral. I told him some, but said for him to go speak with your about them. I thought it would be a great professor opportunity that I didn't want to take from you. You are the expert and all." She grinned towards her old friend. |
Quote:
No no, the line about the budget had been just that... a line. Just a line. Fina's sad faces were somewhat getting to her, ugh. "Tell you what," the Headmistress crossed and uncrossed her arms. "We MIGHT have enough space JUST to try her out. Just to see how it works. It has been a while since we've had a qualified," not crazy, "professor teaching Arithmancy." And she couldn't be worse than French, right? "So I'll go tell her." They could work out the details of the woman's limited teaching contract later. |
#this is awkward talking to Cassie whilst away from the table w Bunz XD Quote:
"Yea, my younger AND older sisters were both Ravenclaws, along with my mother." Oh and her husband too. Funny how her husband had Hufflepuff sisters though. And yup, she knew it; she was older than the blond. By about seven or eight years. "Just missed you getting sorted, but hmm, name sounds familiar. He would've graduated the year after my little sister, Alexandria Hadley, who no doubts knew him better than me. Hufflepuff had a Leo Moretti who was prefect actually in 2062 and 2063." Not the same name, but similar! Quote:
After consideration though, Annie seemed to let her guard down and decided they would try her out. So it seemed it did work. And she knew - just knew - Lolita was more than qualified and not crazy, at least. A bit strong-willed, but that wasn't a bad trait. "Really? She won't let you down ... on the Arithmancy front," Fina nodded appreciatively. So they were good then? "I'm sorry again for not owling in advance." |
Tap, tap, tap went Lolita Domingo's foot. She was not a patient person. Their little private discussion was a tad bit irritating, as it was her future they were discussing. At least it looked as if they were finishing up. About time, too. Now. How much would they be paying her? |
Quote:
She nodded, accepting Josephina's apology, and marched back over to the dais where Domingo was waiting. Quote:
"Miss Domgino," she approached stiffly, hoping she got the lady's name right, "after some careful consideration, it appears that we do have room for you on staff in a temporary teaching position." The Headmistress paused. "However, this position is contingent upon a review of your background and references. We will discuss a contract once you have settled in." She HAD brought some belongings with her, no? But until then... Bunz held out her hand for a shake. |
Quote:
It definitely was serious though, since it did concern his area. Listening to how long she had been sensing this. He placed a hand on her shoulder before nodding with her. "I see your point." Then she mentioned about a little story between other students coming by. Well, that wasn't much of a surprise to Javy given last term with the visitors. One of his eyebrows quirked at her compliment. "Well, well Cassie. You still remember how to stroke one's ego." Chuckling a little. "I appreciate that though, thanks." Taking the time to stir his tea before sipping it again. "So, I see you've been having fun around the castle again. Just like old times?" Reminiscing was nice occasionally, and he didn't get to do that much outside of classes and planning. They had time after all. Javy's eyes momentarily glanced in the direction of the other ladies, just for curiosity. To see how their decision making was going. Well, well, he saw the Headmistress' hand out to shake Lolita's and her being offered the position. New Arithmancy Professor, cool. "Congratulations, Miss Domingo." |
