On the very edge of the forest is a massive tree that houses a wooden fort high up in its branches. A rope ladder hangs down from the lowest level for easy access.
From the Outside it looks to be small. Big enough to fit only four. maybe five at time. but once you come in through the latched door you'll find that the inside has been expanded. Wooden Benches stretch across the perimeter of the the indoors, each with a window you can open up to let the light filter in. Tables are placed at random around the inside, with small stools placed around each of them, just in case you wanted one more place to do all the Homework your Professor's are gonna pile up on you.
Oh is that a Shuffleboard Court painted into the floor, off to the side!!?? Yes it is! Use the Shuffleboard sticks, and pucks ONLY FOR SHUFFLEBOARD!
Just above you is a balcony that will overlook the rest of the inside. Two small couches sit up here for you to lounge, chit-chat, and NOT SNOG your significant other on.
Any damage caught being done to the Tree House will result in serious Consequence. Don't mess with Mr.Kirby.
Cosgrach tried not to be panicked about Sophie's 'We need to talk.' sass, but it was hard. He didn't know what was happening to him, but he worried for the girl, and the reason he picked this place to meet was because he had a relief and fresh air was the best in that.
Examining the house from outside first, he started to climb the rope ladder. If there were any children in there, he'd shoo them out. That was the exact reason he came early.

Sophie was undoubtedly one of the most agile aged students, in her own opinion, and she accredited it to all the walks she took. She could still walk just fine, albeit a little less fluidly than normal, but her walks were her go-to way to exercise and clear her mind and made her still feel fit and youthful.
However, as she neared the tree house, her stomach dropped. She had forgotten about the ladder - how was she supposed to get up there? She wasn't sure that her weakened arms would be able to support her body as well as she would need to make the upward climb. She could see from a distance that Culloden had beat her there and was making that climb, and she wondered... if she could just get up a few of the steps, maybe he could extend a hand down and pull her the rest of the way up. But then he probably would look at her as a helpless weakling rather than his tough little protege. So... that wasn't really an option, was it? She HAD to try. For her pride, and to not let him down.
He was at the top by the time she got there, and she gave him a weak smile. "Oh Great One," she greeted, half-mockingly, half-completely serious. He WAS great, and with the feast only a week away, and no end in sight as far as she could tell for the aging epidemic... whether it was death or a summer vacation she was facing, she was going to miss seeing Culloden every day.
Trying to look less nervous than she felt, she approached the rope ladder and started a slow, shaky climb, forcing herself to not ask for help and focus entirely on each rung of the ladder as the next one grew closer to her. Slow and steady. No big deal. Culloden would just have to be patient with her.
Having wandered around the grounds for a bit, getting some fresh air into his lungs, the Slytherin decided to go find his girlfriend. Knowing that she wasn't in the common room, Terry headed automatically towards the Treehouse where they had first met. He knew she liked this place and it was most likely where she had been hiding. Her revision for her OWL's had got so frequent that he barely got to see her. He couldn't complain though, it was to do with her future and he was sure she'd give him the same freedom when it came to his NEWT's next year.
Climbing up towards the top, he pulled himself up and his eyes automatically fell upon the girl sat on that sofa. "Hello stranger" he smiled, sitting next to her and kissing her cheek softly. "Have you taken a short break?" he asked wrapping one arm around her and tilting his head at a slight angle. "And are you feeling any better?" He was glad to see that she had come out for fresh air, it was good for you after all. He was getting a little worried with all this being cooped up in the dungeons business. As amazing as the Slytherin commoon room was, it wasn't particularly uplifting when you felt a little ill. Hidden underneath the lake and a little dark, it was the complete opposite of the outside. Plus the weather wasn't too bad either.
Ana looked up when she heard Terry's voice, favouring him with a soft smile. "Hi," she said back, voice slightly raspy from lack of use over the past few weeks. She cleared her throat slightly before speaking again. "I've missed you," she revealed, moving closer to him and nuzzling his neck after returning his kiss with one of her own. She'd missed being in his arms and Ana decided that she'd really need to start to straighten out her priorities. While studying was important for her life she needed to remember to actually have a life as well. She tended to go to extremes when it came to studying, something that hadn't really been an issue at her previous schools but something she'd obviously need to learn to correct now if she ever wanted to spend quality time with Terry.
"I am. I figure that I should take your advice more often when you tell me to take breaks instead of running myself into the ground," Ana told him, giving a slightly self-deprecating smile. She was sure that part of the reason for her illness had been because she was working too hard and not getting enough rest to function properly. Getting sick was probably her bodies way of telling her to slow down and take a break. "And I'm feeling a bit better. I've got an annoying cough that I can't seem to shake of a morning or evening but other then that I'm fine," she reassured Terry, touched by his concern over her welfare. It was just another way that he showed how much he cared about her, and Ana appreciated it more than he probably knew. "How have you been?" ...and she finally showed up.
Cosgrach had been too thoughtful to notice her previous dreadful looks, but he saw her a few moments before she called out his name. He grinned, but his worry was still visible.
"Lady Tiny," he replied back and bowed in respect as if she was a noble from the Medieval Ages. He got up then, and took one step towards the ladder (he had been sitting beside it), and looked over her slow advance.
Oh.
He hadn't thought about that.
He watched her climb, but it was a torture for both of them. He felt so dumb. How could he forget?! She probably made asking for help a question of honour or something, though, so he knelt in front of the ladder and held out his hands to hold.
"I'm strong enough." In case she wondered.
Not that he would let her fall, but he hoped the stupid Orsino'd had enough brains to charm the ground in case someone fell.
Leah flinched as Fern got polish on her toe. She understood perfectly that that was an annoying mistake to make, and slightly regretted interrupting the other girl.
The feeling disappeared very quickly.
Before Leah knew it, the girl was yelling at her face. Okay, she had expected this coming, but not like this. "Why not?" She retorted. "I want some fingernail polish, that's all. Not going to kill you or something." She added. What the firstie said sounded fairly mean to herself, but she did not feel sorry for the other girl.
What!? WHAT!? For a moment, the 12-year-old couldn't speak. She just gaped at the uppity little first year. Then, finally Fern let out a shriek, scrambled onto her feet, and wobbling slightly on the couch cushion, waved the bottle of nail polish in the air, "BECAUSE IT'S MY POLISH! IT'S NOT YOUR'S! AND I SAID NO!!! NOW LEAVE ME A! LONE!"

Sophie was totally fine, of course she was, even though it had taken her about half a minute to make it halfway up the ladder, but she tried to keep the most calm and collected expression on her face as she went. No fear. No pain. Just... a normal everyday climb up a rope ladder, yes.
So why were her limbs shaking?
When he spoke to her, though, she looked up at him to see him offering his hands, and a weight lifted from her chest. She grinned up at him and teased, "You'd better be, I'm not even seven stones yet!" But thanks for not making me ask, she said with soft, grateful eyes, lifting one hand from the rung to grab one of his hands, then when she was sure he had a good enough grip on her, she removed the other hand from the rung and latched onto his free hand.

BEAM ME UP, SCOTTY.
Cosgrach deliberately shook his hand as if he was losing his grip on hers. "What do you eat, Soph?" he asked teasingly, but the next moment he was holding her safe and secure. It wasn't a long distance he had to pull her up, too, and in a short while she was up on the house with him.
He decided not to comment on her look or why he had to pull her up in the first place, but she could probably tell he looked at her in worry for a moment before he smiled to lighten the mood.
"So, you said you wanted to talk?" Impatient professor here.

Scowling, Sophie's grip tightened on Culloden's hands and her eyes narrowed. "You're a big dumb dork, didja know? I'm one of the tiniest kids in this whole place! If you can't pull me up," which he already had, and she had straightened up with her feet firmly planted on the floor and was brushing herself off as if she had picked up some dust along the way, "then you need to work out more." Griiiiiin. If he was going to poke fun at her, she was going to do it right back.
Talk. Right. A flash of uncertainty crossed her face, as if she was rethinking this decision to chat with him today, but she moved a few paces away and rested against the railing of the tree house, looking out over the grounds, her gaze distant. "S'nothing too important. I just..." There was a long pause. She was chewing on her lower lip, now, trying to find the right words and not sound too pathetic -
"Well, whether it's summer vacation or death I'm facing in the coming months, I just wanna say that it's been really fun to be your protege this year and I've learned a lot from you and it's been nice to have an adult to talk to and joke with and learn from and I never saw myself liking potions so much 'cause Lafay was scary but I love it now and have you to thank for that and becoming a Potioneer is about as high on my aspirations list as becoming a Wandmaker and I never thought I could see myself doing anything but becoming a Wandmaker." Even though she might not even make it that far to pursue those aspirations, but she didn't say that aloud. "So that's a big deal."
So far, it was only mildly pathetic, and she held up a hand without looking at him to let him know she wasn't done.
"So I want you to know I'm glad you came to teach here. You're a lot like my dad, 'cept I've probably gotten to see more of you this year than I have of him in the past few years." Awkward pause. Definitely pathetic. "So... thanks for being there and stuff. And... sorry if I die, 'cause of this aging thing - since no one seems to have any answers, and it seems like the student body at large is out of hope - and I know should've been smarter and not caught it or something," she knew she was talking nonsense, but pressed on anyway, "and I know you'll be sad 'cause you didn't get to see me grow up to be as great as we both know I would've been, but... don't be sad if it happens, okay?" Her chestnut eyes had turned to meet his darker ones, but hers were slightly more moist than his, and her expression was soft and child-like.
She shrugged, defeated. "S'just part of life, isn't it?"

Cosgrach was dork alright, but dumb???!!!??? He looked INDIGNANT.
"Watch your mouth!" he exclaimed in mock fury. "'Course I can pull you up. But maybe you should watch what you're eating too." Tut tut. Such ruuuuude kids around.
But, serious business now. He fixed his eyes on her face. It didn't even cross his mind that staring might discourage some people while talking, and he patiently waited for her... she had to hurry, though. It hurt him deeply seeing her so hesitant and he might change his mind about talk -

Y'know, his eyes were moist too, and he had to fight the blinking urge to keep the tears water back. He didn't even know how he felt, it was a mixture of pride, guilt, anger and sadness. Anger for this stupid thing and being so HELPLESS about it, guilt for not being old like most of the people, pride for impressing such a bright child and sadness for the possibility of her dying. He wouldn't have guessed in a thousand years that he would love teaching this much, let alone a child. The tip of his eyebrows went higher and closer in deep emotion, and he held his breath for a moment before letting it go.
Words were unnecessary, so he simply reached towards her to hug her.
"I'll be sad nevertheless. But it won't happen. You'll be far greater than any wandmaker or potioneer. I'll tear that Mungo's down if it comes to that."
He didn't feel the need to communicate how much she meant to him, because he had never hugged someone with so much love and he hoped she felt that. Then, because it was too much, he muttered "I wish I had a daughter like you."

Sophie was all sorts of nervous for his response, and she tore her gaze away from his as he sighed, looking back out over the grounds again. She was... embarrassed, a bit, but not just for herself - she realized he was getting emotional, too, and couldn't look at him. It hurt, and she didn't want to draw attention to his misty eyes either. He was a man of pride, she knew, and it would make it all much worse if she treated him any differently than normal just because he was showing some vulnerability.
Then he was hugging her, though, and her throat tightened and her eyes stung and her vision was blurry with tears before she could stop it. His words were just as comforting as his embrace, and she even managed a small smile and a laugh at his reassurance. "Your trip to St. Mungo's might need to be sooner rather than later, then." Had he seen the older students lately? Especially Mo. He looked... gosh. On the verge of death for sure.
She sniffed, and as she did, she almost missed the last phrase that crossed his lips - but, as she processed what he had said, a grin spread across her face and she hugged him tighter with her frail arms. "Look at you," she laughed a bit through freely-flowing tears, pulling back to give him a teasing smile. "You're a real person with feelings. Who woulda thought." She turned back to the railing of the tree house and swiped a hand across her face to dry her cheeks, the smile still on her face even while her puffy red eyes were unable to contain the overflow of tears. Then, before she could stop the words from passing her lips, she swallowed the sensation of bile rising in her throat and replied simply, "I wish you did, too." As in... her. But she couldn't say that. She had enough sense to keep those thoughts to herself.

But why was she such a pessimist? Cosgrach wanted to reprimand her, but he remembered how Annie looked at her office and couldn't. He didn't want to give anyone false hopes -
He was glad they were hugging, because he couldn't hold that tear back and he didn't want her to see him crying. He could chase any other student away, but her... so when she said look at you while she laughed and pulled back, he sniffed once and hoped that tear didn't shine.
But then again, she was one of those rare students who wouldn't see crying as 'vulnerability' but 'a part of human nature', so it didn't matter that much if she noticed it.
Soon enough, he was looking indignant, though.
"But you put the idea in my head!" he exclaimed. He was glad the mood turned lighter, even if it was by a small fraction. "I am still feelingless. I just thought it would be nice." He mock!boasted with his being 'less human'. "Forget it, though. See how emotional you got me only to trick me into admitting you had been right all along. I refuse to be fooled by you, Miss." Because he was oblivious to her deeper meaning, and tried to show to himself he didn't want a kid by horsing around. He didn't. He...

Couldn't.
Sophie could sense his emotion well enough in his general demeanor and voice, but she didn't realize he was crying at all and was still busying herself with drying her cheeks with the back of her hand.
The smile was growing on her face as Culloden protested, though, and she responded with soft, half-forced laughter as he spoke. "Feelingless. Right." She glanced at him for a brief moment, shooting him a smug look, before peering over the railing down at the ground below them in curiosity. "It would be nice... but, y'know," she shrugged, looking at him again, "at least y'get to play the role of a parent to kids here at Hogwarts. You've kinda got it easy - y'don't have more mouths to feed than your own and y'don't really have anyone to take care of or look after. Y'just get to pick favorites and do it selectively. No real obligations."
Sophie shrugged again, stepping away from the railing to dig her hands in her pockets casually, and noted gently, "For someone who can't make up his mind on whether he'd want a kid or not, it seems like you've already got the best of both worlds. You're lucky."

She still sounded a bit sick. Terry couldn't help but feel a little concerned that she had been overworking herself. Still, he'd be a little hypocritical if he told her so and he didn't want to push her. She wanted to do well, he completely respected that. "I've missed you too" he spoke, wrapping his arm around her waist and pulling her closer to his body. She snuggled up to him and he smiled softly, resting his head on top of hers. "Summer is going to be a lot worse you know?" he sighed, recalling how she had told him that she'd be spending a lot of it in Russia. That meant very few opportunities to be with his girlfriend. That sucked, that was undeniable. But he wouldn't want to take her away from her family, they might make her move again and he knew that was inexplicably worse.
"You should always listen to me" he chuckled. "I might not be the most intelligent guy in the school but I do come up with some pretty bright ideas" he looked at her, knowing that she had been too busy studying to think about her health or her social life. "I know you wanna do well Ana but I'd rather you were lively and enjoying yourself with mediocre grades than sick with these amazing top marks. Not that you'd do badly without revision, I know you'll be fine" He believed in her. And he was sure that her family would want her to remain healthy too.
"Promise me you'll see the Healer if that gets any worse?" he asked her, his eyebrows furrowing in concern. Coughs were never good things. "And I'm alright I guess." He'd been a little bored recently and he was thinking about his friends that would soon be leaving. It was a bit somber to be honest.

You're lucky."
...what was that supposed to mean?
Cosgrach had been leaning on the railings too, but he frowned and turned to look at her sideways. Did she mean he wouldn't be able to look after a kid? ...no, no. Sophie wouldn't be mean like that. He knew she meant it innocently, without any deeper meaning. He took them with a deeper meaning, though. Would he really mess up being a father?
"I guess I am..." he said, but she could tell his mind was on something else. Then he fully focused on her and forced a smile.
"I've at least seen how it's like to be a father and stuff without any real responsibility, yes." And the result? He was glad he didn't have a kid. They were far too unstable.
"I'd like to meet your parents to tell 'em how great you are," he said casually and studied her face for her reaction.

Sophie could tell that something was wrong, or perhaps that she had said something wrong, but she couldn't put her finger on what. She was replaying the words that had come from her mouth, and nothing really seemed to be offensive - was he rethinking the whole parenting thing? Had he just changed his mind and decided he didn't really want a daughter like her, let alone a kid at all? But... he didn't seem all that convinced that he was lucky, so she figured he must have been leaning one way or the other... but, before she could put the pieces together and come to a conclusion, he said something that made her eyebrows raise.
Her parents?
"Oh." Her head quirked slightly to the side and she gave him a sort of half-smile, a bit honored that he wanted to rave about her to her parents, but also a bit apprehensive about it. After a pause, she rested her elbows on the railing once more, clasping her hands out in front of her and looked down at them, "Well, if you're serious - m'dad's hardly ever around, so I dunno about him... but my mum works from home most of the time - she's a herbologist - and I've told her about you, when I was home over break. I think she'd like to meet you, too." She paused, and then, "What are your plans for the summer?" What did professors even do during their off time? Hibernate?
Adeline tried to pull herself away from him but what would be the use if she succeeded, she already had his stinky sweat all over herself. Gross. Really Asher, really? This was one of those moments where Adeline really wanted to rest her head against his chest but she couldn't because he was all gross. Adeline looked up at him and shook her head. He really could use a bath or a shower...or...both. Adeline nodded to herself because she knew that he didn't know what she was thinking but then again they really knew each other really well so maybe Asher had a clue as to what she was think.
She rolled her chocolate brown eyes at him. "I was great until you got me all sweaty." The seventh year said with a tiny almost not even noticeable smirk on her pale face.
The seventh year chuckled as she tired to squirm herself out of his arms. That only made him try to cling her tighter. Finally he did let her go. Well not yet. But he would. Soon. He was having just way to much fun annoying her right now.
He laughed harder and louder. FINALLY he let go. "Well maybe I should just jump into the lake and bathe there?" He chuckled. Well maybe not bathe bathe just jump in a wash the sweat off. Now if he could just talk her into coming to the lake with him.

Was he clinging to her? This would be nice if he wasn't so sweaty and stinky but Adeline would take it because she's in love with him. Adeline had a gut feeling that Asher was just doing this to annoy her. Adeline looked up at him with her chocolate brown eyes. Maybe if she batted them enough he would let her go. What had gotten into her? She never batted her eyes. She did have things to tell him. Some important things.
Adeline rolled her eyes at him. "Asher! That's not funny!" Her emotions were everywhere lately. She knew why. It had to do with the rejection letter she had received. Adeline really wanted to tell Asher about it but part of her just wanted to keep the information to herself. The rejection letter made her feel like a complete failure, like everything her parents and step father had told her. Adeline shook her head, she had to stop thinking about them.

Did she bat her eyes at him? He clucked, he never seen her do that before. It was kind of.... Very cute. So cute in fact it made him want to hug her again. Which he wasn't about to do and mess up his plans on going to the lake. The lake sounded fun right now.
Now that Asher really wanted to go to the lake. All he had to do was to convince Adeline to come with him. And judging by her mood, that was going to be a job and a half. He gave her his sweetest grin that he had ever given her. He grinned so much he started laughing. "Let's go down to the lake." He put his hand out for her to take.

Was Asher talking about the lake? Was he talking about the lake before that too? Adeline rubbed her temples. She had been so stressed out from trying to figure out how to tell Asher some bad news that she totally ignored what he was talking about. Adeline really hoped that he wouldn't be angry. She looked up at him. Well he didn't seem all that mad. Adeline sighed, how was she going to tell him?
She had to tell him at some point. It was stressing her out the longer that she dragged it on or tried to figure out how to tell him. "Asher, we have to talk..." Nice big pause there to worry him. He made her smell all of his sweatiness so she would freak him out right now. "I applied to Uni and I thought I was going to get in but I didn't and I wanted it to be a surprise for you but the only surprise is that I go rejected. I'm a failure." Adeline frowned and looked away from him. She was a failure.

What did she mean about his dad? What - here Cosgrach was thinking she had the BEST parents around because she was the BEST kid around, but her playing with her hands, it meant nervousness, right? Was she afraid he would speak ill of her to her parents? Psh, and he thought she'd known him by now -
Oh, never mind. She was going to invite him over.
"I haven't planned anything yet. I'll maybe go to a cheap Mediterranean country and enjoy sun for two weeks. Then the rest depends on who invites me where." He grinned smugly. "When will you people be available to invite me for an afternoon tea?" He didn't even know where she lived...
What!? LONE!"
Leah jumped up from the couch, bewildered. She never thought that this girl would take this matter this seriously. She looked like she could faint any moment now.
"Okay, but if you are mad at me because of that day at the moving staircase, I said sorry, and you accepted my apology." Leah said, walking backwards. "Why don't you just forget about it, and let's be friends." Then Leah hurried down the ladder to the grounds, not listening to the second-year's answer. She was afraid of being hit in the face with a polish.

Even if it was just a promise ring, it still involved making a commitment and that was not something to be rushed into.
He searched her face trying to see whether he could see any hint of what she was thinking. Then she smiled and Sander knew that everything was going to be okay. He quickly got to his feet and when she jumped forwards and wrapped her arms around him, Sander gladly met her, wrapping his arms around her. He swung her around, while at the same, laughing joyously.
Yes. She had said yes. The realization dawned on him and that knowledge almost brought him to his knees again. Sander slowly placed Tessa back on her feet, took her hand and slipped the ring onto her ring finger. Then he bent down to kiss it before looking back up to face Tessa. There were tears brimming in his eyes too. Tears of joy. He reached up and cupped her head with both his hands, bringing her closer to him.
"I love you, Tessa. Thank you for accepting my ring," Sander whispered to his girlfriend before leaning forward and kissing her softly on the lips.
Tessa was still processing what was happening. After all, she had thought he had proposed, and he hadn't, but instead... it was a promise of a future. It was a big promise, and her mind was already zooming forward over the years... but all she felt was excitement.
Oh goodness, was Sander turning blue?
"Breathe!" she told him laughing, loosening her hug on him, but not separating completely. "I'm sorry I didn't say it sooner," she said with a soft laugh, kissing him gently on the lips. "But it was just so exciting, that it took a moment for it to sink in," another kiss. "That this wasn't a dream. That it was REAL!" she giggled again and hugged him tightly. Then, she leaned back slightly to admire the new piece of jewelry. "It's wonderful Sander, thank you."

Sander knew it was a big commitment. Making a promise to be faithful to someone whom he wouldn't get a chance to see much once he left school, but he knew deep in his heart, that he would always love Tessa...and what how did that saying go? Absence makes the heart grow fonder?
He laughed when Tessa began talking really fast while hugging and kissing him at the same time. He returned each of her kiss with one of his own. He would never get tired of kissing her, or having her in his arms.
He loved this girl so much. Sander knew that he had found his soulmate. His one true love.
"No, thank you, Tessa. I'm so happy you said yes. You are wonderful. You are so beautiful. I still can't believe that I found you, here in Hogwarts," Sander told her as he leaned forward to kiss her on the forehead.
Then he sighed as he felt a lump forming in his throat. "I don't want this night to end. I don't want my time in Hogwarts to end. I wish that I could have come here sooner," he confessed his feelings to his girlfriend.
"I don't know how I'm going to make it through next year, knowing that I won't be able to talk to you as often as I can right now. You make me feel special." Sander could feel the tears coming.

Tessa couldn't help but smile at the sound of Sander's laugh. It was the best sound to her ears- beating the roar of the crowd in a Quidditch game and even beating the sound of the wind as she flew through the sky. That was saying something. That was love.
"I can't believe we found one another. To think we could have missed one another in so many ways..." If she had transferred elsewhere. Or if either of that hadn't transferred at all. If she had gone to Durmstrang instead... a number of things could have happened... but they didn't. This was their present, and she was going to be thankful for it every day.
"It won't ever end," she told him hoarsely, feeling a lump form in her throat. She tried to clear it, but was only barely successful. "We have tomorrow, and the next day, and the next..." she repeated it a few times before finally laughing. As Sander began to talk about the next year, Tessa gently put a finger on his lips.
"Don't think about that," she told him with a soft laugh. "Think about here, now, this moment," she whispered, before covering his lips with her own. After all, why worry about the future when they were together now. They would worry about things when they got there. "We will find a way. After all, we found one another. Anything is possible," she assured him with a grin.

She was right. They had the present. The Now. It was such a beautiful moment for him. He tangled his fingers in her hair, holding her head close as he kissed her back. Then he wrapped his arms tighter against her, holding her close as he leaned his forehead against hers.
"Yes we found each other against all odds, we will find a way. No matter where I am, I'll find a way to be close to you, even if it's through a two-way mirror," Sander whispered another promise to her returning her grin. Then he held up her hand and kissed the ring he had just placed on her finger.
Leaning down, he covered her lips with his again. He would never get tired of kissing and holding her.
