Remember that all rules found within this thread apply not only in the Common Room, but also throughout the school. Any Ravenclaw found disobeying any rules can be punished with detention, suspension and even expulsion from Hogwarts. These are the rules and regulations for the Ravenclaw House and apply not only to the Common Room and Ravenclaw areas, but to the rest of the school, as well. Failure to abide by these rules could cause the offender to be punished and possibly expelled from Hogwarts. Not that I expect any of our Ravenclaw students to have any problems.
These rules will be enforced by your Head of House, House Mod, House Prefects, Quidditch Captain, Head Boy and Head Girl, and other staff members at Hogwarts. You are expected to show proper respect to all members of the SS School RP Staff, this includes Head Boy and Girl, Prefects, and Captains.
1. SS Board Rules
All SS Board Rules apply. If you haven't done so already, please go read them now. "I didn't know that was a rule" will not be accepted as an excuse for rule breaking.
2. Dormitories
Students are to stay in their respective dormitory. No girls are allowed in the boys' dormitories, and no boys are allowed in the girls' dormitories! Trust me, both dorms look exactly the same, so you are not missing out on anything.
3. PDA
No PDA (Public Displays of Affection)...it is not allowed at all. The occasional hug or holding hands is acceptable, but anything more than that and you will face detention, suspension, or expulsion. I understand that you want to be affectionate, but remember you are here to learn about magic, not to break the most kisses record. So please, keep the PDA to a minimum.
4. Drugs and Alcohol
Drugs and alcohol are forbidden. If you are found with any such item, you will be expelled.
5. Illegal Activities and Conversations
There will be no illegal activities sin this House or in the school. This includes the discussion of illegal Muggle activities, such as illegal downloading of music and software, as well as discussing inappropriate topics and lewd behavior.
6. OOC Comments
OOC comments should be kept to a bare minimum. We don't need to know that you are leaving OOC. Sometimes it is unavoidable, but if you can, just send a PM or a VM to the member(s) you are RPing with at that time.
7. ALWAYS HAVE FUN AND THEN SOME!
Most importantly, HAVE FUN!!!! Despite the presence of rules, you can still have an amazingly wonderful and fun time here at Hogwarts! So go out there, have fun, and try to get some points for Ravenclaw and help us to win the House Cup this term!
Just a few things to help you be successful in your classes and to earn points for Ravenclaw!!!
1. Respect your professors and classmates. Just be nice. Sometimes it can be hard to bite your tongue, but it's much easier to avoid a fight then to get detention, lose house points, and have a lot of people upset with you. Just a little common courtesy can go a long way.
2. If you come online while the class is already going on, please do not announce that you charrie has arrived late. Simply act like your charrie has been there the whole time, otherwise professors may deduct points from you and your house. Some professors allow you to make Catching Up posts so pay attention to their class rules.
3. Likewise, if you have to leave the rp before the class ends, do not announce it, or points will be lost. Most professors will leave the class thread open for a day or so, so you can get caught up if you had to leave or if you arrived late.
4. Keep OOC comments to a minimum. Most professors do not allow them in their class. If you must OOC comment someone in the class, use a VM or a PM instead.
5. Remember that general chatting is not generally allowed in the classes. Pay attention to the Professor's comments to see if chatting is allowed at a particular time in class
6. When a professor asks a question, feel free to raise your hand and share your answer. Many of the professors require that you raise your hand so make sure you check their rules or listen to their directions. The quickest answers, as well as the most creative answers, are the ones that usually receive the points.
7. Please be patient if the professor doesn't answer you straight away. We all live in different time zones and have other responsibilities in our real lives, so it is possible the professor had to leave for a little while.
8. Also, if a professor doesn't respond to your comment or question, remember that there are tons of other answers and they may have overlooked it or missed it. If it is an important question, don't hesitate to PM them to bring attention to it...but only occasionally.
9. Be realistic! Don't RP in two different places that don't make sense. For instance, if you fell off your broom in Flying and had to be rushed to the Hospital Ward, then you wouldn't be able to attend class at the same time.
10. Try to use proper spelling, grammar, etc. It makes what you've typed look much more attractive and also easier for others to read and comprehend. Try to avoid posting one-line role plays. It looks a bit tacky, and it's a lot better to go into detail about what you're charrie is doing or thinking. Despite keeping things realistic, it also gives you more to talk about, as well as more for others to respond to!
11. Make new friends! If anything, having lots of friends in the RPG spices things up. It makes things a lot more fun.
WARNING: As a general rule, when sending in your homework, always include your Username, Character Name, House and Member Number, or you risk it being ignored by the professor. Late homework is usually not accepted, though you can speak to the Professors individually about your individual extenuating circumstances.

2. How do I subscribe to a thread?
Subscribing to a thread allows you to see anytime someone posts within that thread. Once you have subscribed to a thread, it will show up in your UserCP Subscriptions list whenever someone has posted something new within it.

2. On the next page, choose your options for Subscribing. You can choose if you want email notifications and where you want the subscription saved. Then click Add Subscription.
3. The next page indicates that it is saving your Subscription.
4. To see your Subscription, click on UserCP at the top of your page. This will list all of your Subscriptions and the ones at the top of the list are the newest postings.
3. What year is Term 34 in?
It is currently the year of 2080-2081 IC.
4. Do I have to do the homework and attend classes?
No, it is not mandatory. However, if you want to earn house points for Ravenclaw, completing homework and participating in the classes is one of the best ways to help us win the House Cup!
5. What does OOC and IC mean?
OOC means "Out of Character" and IC means "In Character."
6. How can I get involved in the school story? I feel so out of everything.
There are so many ways to get your charrie involved in the RPG! The best ways are having them join the Quidditch team, participate in the Gobstone games, take part in class lessons, and meet other students just around the castle! Also, if you're confused about what's going on in the school's plot line, take a look at the What in Merlin's Beard thread; it should help answer a lot of questions and give you a heads up about what's going on around Hogwarts and in the story line.
7. How can I help earn points for Ravenclaw?
House points are given to charries that attend classes, complete their homework, and/or do good deeds around the school. The best way to earn points for Ravenclaw is to attend classes and to complete the homework as instructed. You can check which classes are in session and what homework assignments are due on the The Diadem and The Eagle's Nest.
8. I'm new to the Role Play! How do I get started?
So, you've already got started along the right path...after all, you've already been sorted into the greatest house EVER...RAVENCLAW!!! There's always plenty of other people that are willing to help new members find their way around the site and Hogwarts. If you need someone to RP with, they why not send them a Visitor Message (VM) or a Private Message (PM) and ask them? Or if you're feeling outspoken, just jump right into a conversation in the Common Room or at the House table in the Great Hall! Overall have fun and let your creativity blossom!
9. Is there a Head Boy and Girl? Are there Prefects and Quidditch Captains?
Yes, Yes, Yes there is! You can always tell who holds one of these leadership positions because they have a badge under their name on the left side of all of their posts.

10. How do I chose a model for my character? How can I get graphics made for my character?
To choose a model for your character, just find an actress, actor, or other celebrity whose age and appearance closely resembles what you have in mind for your charrie. You can visit the Charrie/Celebrity Thread to see some of the models used by other charries across the site.
If you'd like to get graphics made for your charrie, visit Madame Malkin's and request a set from one of our talent members that have created shops for this purpose.
11. How quickly does time pass in the role play and how do I know what time of the year it is?
Each school year is what we call a term. So where students would usually go to school from September to June, our terms do not actually last a year IC. Each month the role play is equivalent to two weeks in real life, so you'll find that time flies fairly quickly for your charrie. As each month passes, an announcement will pop up with a yellow speaker icon indicating which month we are in. By clicking on this, it will then inform you on what the weather is like in the role play and you will be able to respond or role play accordingly. After all, you wouldn't wear a swimsuit when it's snowing outside.
