While Hogwarts' unsorted firsties are heading for the school in the usual first-year boats, the rest of the students will be heading toward the school via carriage.
These are the same carriages that have been used for years and years. They are round, black, and seat about four students.
The carriages also appear to move along on their own, with an invisible something inside the harnesses...

Again, Sierra was excited about graduation, unlike the others who acted like life without Hogwarts was one big funeral replaying itself over and over again. She slid into a seat, keeping an eye out for one boy in particular.
GARY RUSH should come sit right....HERE. Yes, in the seat just next to her. Sierra mentally made a plan to kick a Puffer out if any of them so dared to take the seat she'd claimed for HEAD HOTNESS with a BADGE.

Minerva walked along until she came to the carriages. Looking into one she saw Sierra and thought about meeting the minister this summer. That was such a great experience, but she wouldn't say that to Sierra. She had really never talked to the girl before and from what she had heard was a bit afraid to her to say the least.
Smiling at the girl she went to the next carriage that was empty and pulled herself up. She knew Ethan was right behind her and figured and empty one would be easier for some other friends to join them. Minerva couldn't help but feel excited to be so close to another term starting.

Alex couldn't believe the train ride was OVER. It had actually been one of the most pleasant rides yet--he'd met a really nice little Gryffindor who didn't think he was a freak for being OLD and TALL and whatnot. As he searched for an empty carriage, his eyes instead fell on his sister, sitting by herself in a carriage. She looked like she was looking for someone, but she wouldn't mind her brother hopping a ride with her as well? Right?? RIGHT.
"Hey there little sis!" Alex said with a grin as he stepped in front of her carriage. "Mind if your older brother tags along?" he asked, and without waiting for an answer, hopped in the carriage next to her. "After all, it IS our last carriage ride to the castle, we should do it together!" he told her.
And if she was waiting for a stupid Slytherin or something, there was plentyyyyy of room for them too. Yeah. This carriages were big enough for four people, so was Alex REALLY taking up THAT much room? Hehe.

Little sis?!
NOOO....WAIT! AHHHHHHH!!!!! Sierra did some mental breathing exercises as she tried to convince herself it was not a good idea to kick her brother out the carriage. Four seats. There were four seats. Two were taken, so that left two.
"ALEX!" she said, and she grabbed him by the shirt and pulled him closer to her. It was a movement she'd actually done many times before the boy she called Puffer Brother. "Tell me that you know GARY RUSH and that you'll call out to him to come sit with you!"
Of course this was all whispered.
She released him then sat back as if nothing out of the ordinary had just happened. "Oh, sure. We should definitely ride together," she said.

Alex barely had time to give himself a mental pat on the back for being a super awesomely annoying brother when Sierra grabbed him by his shirt and pulled him towards her. EWW hot breath on his ear GROSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Still, he listened to her and then wrinkled his eyebrows.
"Gary? He's the Head Boy, right?" he asked. He knew the kid, but didn't KNOW know him...he just knew OF him and he'd recognize him if he saw him. He shrugged. His sister probably wanted to talk prefect stuff with him or flirt with the boy because of his high ranking title. Gross.
"Eh sure, I'll call him out if I see him," he said with another shrug. He wouldn't mind embarrassing himself for Sierra. That was what brothers did right? When they weren't being nuisances?
"Sooooo what's new with you? Have fun in the prefects car?" he asked her with a grin.

As soon as the train stopped, Mordred lazily picked up his things and slung his bag over his shoulder. The sixth year slowly treaded the train corridor as hundreds of kids dashed out of their compartments and out to the platform. And just like a well oiled machine, he made his way towards the carriages. He caught sight of the new groundskeeper wearing a skirt and smirked at the sight. “Well, that’s new.” Mordred thought and continued to walk towards the weird carriage.
The Slytherin placed all of his belongings on the coach and climbed aboard. He looked around him once he was seated and thought that the students were pretty excited this term since they were rushing to get a nice ride and the empty coaches were being occupied quickly. He sat back and closed his eyes as he waited for the others to join him. “I just hope that I don’t get to share a carriage with a Hufflepuff…” he murmured the words and sighed.

Ella figured Sophie and Oakey needed time to talk about things so Ella headed towards the carriages, needing to do some thinking herself. Besides, she needed to get on one of the first ones in case...well there were just certain people she didn't really want to sit with right now. The blonde weaved her way in and out of the crowds of students until she found herself standing in front of what she thought was an empty carriage.
...That's what she got for being preoccupied.
Absently climbing up and placing her bag next to her, the blonde looked around and that was when she noticed she wasn't alone. BLINK. Her green eyes widened considerably and she immediately looked down, biting her lip. Oh Merlin, Modred....WHY?
Deciding she didn't want to speak to him, she pulled out her copy of Quidditch World from her bag and tried to read. She also tried to ignore the annoying pit in her stomach. Meh.
Minerva walked along until she came to the carriages. Looking into one she saw Sierra and thought about meeting the minister this summer. Ethan followed Minerva to the carriages, carrying his things and cat with him. In hindsight, he thought maybe getting a cage for the Siamese might have been a good idea.. but he could only image what she would be like inside one. It didn't matter now anyway as he climbed into the carriage Min had selected and sat the cat on his lap. At least she stayed put for now.
He glanced outside the carriage to see who was apparently the Groundskeeper.. someone new? The boy couldn't help but think who else would be new this term.. especially who would be their new Head of House. He shrugged lightly then turned his attention back inside the carriage. Grinning over at the girl, he couldn't help but notice her good mood. "You look excited.. happy to be going back?" Yes, he supposed he was happy about it too for a variety of reasons.. Sixth year was sure to be a good one.

Smiling as Ethan sat down Minerva moved closer to him. Alone for at least a few seconds, how could she pass that up. Moving her arm she wrapped it around his arm. "Elise looks comfy.." She smiled down at the cat, yes as long as she stayed in the carriage they would be good to go, which there didn't seem to be a reason for her to jump out, so Minerva felt comfortable saying she would.
Looking out at the other students Minerva grinned, "I am excited to be back.. How about you? Hogwarts more of a home now that your not the newbie?" She giggled a bit and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. "I'm really hoping for a great term even though it's going to be rough with all the studying I will need to do."

The Slytherin grunted as soon as the carriage he occupied was starting to wibble. “I’m not riding this carriage with an over-sized troll, right?” he thought to himself as creases form on his forehead totally annoyed by the movement. The sixth year was waiting for a voice, familiar or not to greet him…or rather disturb his peace as soon as the wibbling died down.
“No annoying hellos? This term is getting weirder by the minute. First, the groundskeeper wearing a kilt and now this? Well, at least this person has the decency not to interrupt my short nap.” Mordred shifted on his seat still with his eyes closed and heard the sound of flipping pages. “Am I sharing a carriage with a new professor?” Because some did ride with them…he heard rumors too that they will be getting a new Astronomy professor. The Slytherin took a peek and blinked at what he saw. Blonde hair and a Quidditch magazine? He immediately knew who it was.
“Great.” He said out loud and shook his head. “I should have just walked from here up to the castle.” Mordred continued with a bitter tone. He grabbed his bag and searched for his DADA book, but instead he saw a packet of gummy worms which Ethan secretly stashed inside his bag before departing London. Wanting to offer it to Ella, Mordred made a face and opened the bag and popped some in his mouth. Nope he wasn’t going to share. Chewing happily, he went back to searching his book and read a random chapter as soon as he found it.

Ella continued to flip quietly through the magazine, praying that Mordred would just not speak to her. It was so much easier that way, the not speaking. She'd prefer that over the arguing or mean comments, she was no good at handling those. The silence only seemed to last a couple of minutes though and then Mordred was talking. BLINK. The blonde tried very hard not to look up from her magazine, fighting the urge to reply. She could do this, she could ignore him.
And then the Cannons were called for stooging nearing the end of the match and-
What was that sound? It was familiar to Ella and yet she didn't immediately know what it was. Hmmm. The blonde chanced a quick glance over the top of the magazine and was shocked at what she saw. Gummy worms? He was eating gummy worms? That was just...it was so...GRRR.
The blonde looked back down at the magazine she was reading and bit down on her lip, hard. He was being really mean right now, Mordred was, and if he was trying to hurt her he was succeeding...Not that she was about to let him see that. Ella wasn't going to play this game. She wasn't going to sink that low because while Mordred seemed completely comfortable hurting her feelings, Ella still felt quite bad about hurting his. It was his choice to leave though, walk away from their conversation. She wasn't going to forgive him for that part. He knew how she felt about that.

Harvey got off the train and noticed their new groundskeeper, in a kilt! So they had a Scottish groundskeeper, not that he had a problem with it of course. He gave the new groundskeeper a nod to greet him before moving towards the carriages, he walked to the front ones peeked in one. He saw a cozy looking Mins and Ethan, he shook his head. Not this one, not that he had a problem with their coziness he just wanted to be alone right now. But he was grateful to his best friend for having kept him company on the train ride here, he would thank her later at the feast. Without her that train ride would have been a very long and lonely one, would have felt like it had taken months to get here instead of just hours. She always knew when she needed to be there next to him, but he was sure she'd had enough of his sadness to last a few days so best to see her later.
He walked to the next one and peeked in, he saw her there.. reading a book on her favourite subject. Best to leave her to her reading, he didn't want to disturb her.. he would most probably see her at the feast anyways. He had just walked away when he heard a comment someone made from that very carriage, he was not pleased but didn't have the mental strength to comment on it so he kept on looking for an empty one until he found it and climbed in knowing he wouldn't be alone for long. Hopefully some quiet people would join him, he had a headache and he was not in a chatty mood so he wanted quiet people please. He leaned back and closed his eyes waiting for the carriages to move along towards the school.
This was going to be Belle's last carriage ride ever.....
She was never going back to hogwarts again not until the near future. All she knew that her little brother was going to come here in his first year next year. She was happy for him. Belle was looking down at her prefect badge and was admiring it for once last time. She will make this year count.
As Belle found a carriage to sit in, she was content and happy to be going back to her second home for the whole year. Belle was excited to meet new friends and get in touch with her old friends in classes. She was especially excited to see Damon, her new boyfriend :3.

She giggled a bit and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. "I'm really hoping for a great term even though it's going to be rough with all the studying I will need to do."
Ethan grinned a little as Minerva moved closer to him. This was certainly nice after the commotion of the train.. not that he minded being around the others, but he liked this alone time too. He looked down at his Siamese kitten. "Yes.. I really hope she doesn't jump out." Hopefully he could keep her contained long enough for them to reach the school. He wasn't sure what he would do if she got out on the grounds right now.
The 16 year old chuckled at her words and smiled at her kiss. "Yeah, I'm really glad to be coming back this year," he nodded, thinking it funny that he would not have echoed that sentiment a year ago. "I definitely feel like it's my school now," he grinned. "We're going to have a great term.. even with the studying. There will still be time for fun." And he was expecting this term to be easy sailing for him.. no OWLs or NEWTs, so plenty of time to do what he wanted. Though he was sure he'd do his share of studying, or at least helping Min to study for her exams.

Wade was relieved that he wouldn't have to be around the 'firsties'? Is that what they really call them at Hogwarts? Anyways.. Wade let himself in a carriage hoping to enjoy another relaxing ride to the impressive castle. Nope, he felt better taking in his first sight of it around people his age.
Oh, someone's asleep it looks like. Well, Wade didnt want to disturb him but at the same time not be rude and take a spot that this guy could be saving. "Hey, it's alright if I join you?" Wade asked in a low voice.
Oichi kept walking along side Christmas trying not to get lost in the crowd. Before she knew it the magnificent carriages were before her, "We are here, lets grab free carriage. Oichi searched a bit and finally found a free carriage, "Over here Christmas", Oichi said and the headed into the carriage motioning for Christmas to follow her.

The fact that the train actually hadn't broken down this term was actually quite a surprise, a welcome surprise of course but it caused Patrick to let out a sigh of relief as his feet safely touched the ground of the train platform in Hogsmeade; that just meant that this term was already off to a much better start than last one had been. Of course a lot of things were much better than last term. Like his life for one since it was like everything had gone a completely one hundred eighty upwards which was good, it was much better than being sad all the time although he knew certain people weren't going to let that happen anyway. Before realizing that standing around wasn't about to help anything, he ended up grabbing his owl cage from the ground and had headed off towards the carriages; knowing that the thestrals were leading them yet again caused a moment of fear since it was quite intimidating not being able to see what was leading the students to Hogwarts. You're a superhero, that means you're not scared of things that will not hurt you provided you don't get in their way and obviously you wouldn't do that. That thought was definitely helpful as he slowly approached an empty carriage with Orion, fear wasn't about to control him; especially not when things were far too good right now to let it actually affect him in any way and he had eventually gotten into a carriage. Now it was just a matter of waiting for Kendall to show up since he knew that his girlfriend would have wanted to to keep talking or have some chocolate before arriving at the school, of course the question was how she was going to find him so he had popped his head out to look around like a jack in the box.
As Rowan approached the carriages she noted that most were still empty. Patting Pandora on the head, she encouraged the feline to run on ahead for some much needed exercise. She tossed her bag onto the nearest empty carriage and climbed aboard. As she had been unable to find her friends on the train, she was feeling a bit lonely. She pulled a book out of her bag, secretly hoping that someone would soon join her.
Hilda Elaine Xavier shifted shyly from one foot to the other as she followed the other students to the carriage. They appeared to be pulled by something invisible, or maybe just by magic.
She put her hands in the pockets of her robes and slid into the nearest carriage at the farthest seat away from anyone else.

...He knew.
The Slytherin kept on eating the gummy worms and basked in his early victory over their ‘cold’ war. Mordred smirked as he flipped the book’s page and almost choked when he read the first few lines.
“TRUST your instincts and empty your mind before attempting this spell.” The Slytherin shook his head and turned to his eagle owl. “Who would have thought trust was important?” The owl simply hooted and flapped its wings obviously clueless of what’s going on or what Mordred was talking about. The sixth year closed his book loudly and placed it beside him. “I promised to let you out of your cage when we get to the Owlery, but...” the Slytherin smirked and unlocked Sky’s cage and the owl slowly moved out of his prison.
Sky moved from his perch to Mordred’s arm and stretched out his enormous wings. In a few seconds it was flapping its wings and flew towards Ella’s head. “That’s right. Good job, boy.” The Slytherin bit his lower lip and got his pack of gummy worms and ate a few pieces as he watched his owl. “Who would have thought you’d be so entertaining, Sky?” he thought to himself as he tried his best not to laugh. “You’ll get cookie points from me if you poop on her head.” He popped a couple of gummy worms to keep himself from laughing and continued to stare at his owl.

It had been a long train ride; Niall followed a stream of students off the train and stretched his arms over his head, yawning. He'd never been able to sleep on trains despite the fact that they made him extremely sleepy, and today had been no exception. He'd explored the train for a while before settling in the corner of a compartment for the remainder of the ride; and now he was finally here.
Hogwarts.
He reached into his pocket and palmed out the little furball hiding there.
"Wake up JuJuBee," he whispered, rubbing gently between her ears. "We're here."
The little creature looked around, big eyes taking in their surroundings as Niall did the same. The horseless carriages were interesting... he stepped closer, peering at the empty hitches that looked as if they should contain horses, and held out the hand not cradling JuJuBee. They were moving... but there wasn't anything there to pull them...
"Hm."
Very interesting.
"Does anyone know how exactly these work?" he asked aloud to nobody in particular.

Ella was having a hard time with this and thank goodness for her magazine or Mordred would be able to see exactly how much she was hurting right now. The blonde continued to bite down on her lip as she flipped through the last few pages of the magazine absently, not really paying attention to the text. Not even Quidditch was easing her mind right now.
Ella closed her eyes when she heard the boy speak next, trying to calm herself down. Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry. She honestly thought she knew Mordred well but this, what he was doing, it made Ella really question her judgement. Just think about Sophie. She told herself, trying to stay strong. Her best friend couldn't know about this and if Ella returned to school all upset, there would be no getting out of telling her. She needed to not let him get to her. And so the soon-to-be fifteen year old continued to stare blankly at the magazine.
And then...Mordred's owl landed on her head. Ella blinked several times, wondering what she was meant to do about this. She wasn't afraid of owls so she wouldn't be freaking out or anything, as much as she was sure that's what the boy expected. Instead she very calmly set the magazine down and reached for her bag. "Hello." She cooed, reaching up to stroke the bird. "Would you like a treat?" And she reached in her bag, fishing around until she found one of Jasper's favorites. "Here you go."

The Slytherin leaned back on his seat and calmly crossed his legs and watched his owl on top of Ella’s head. “Ohhh, boy. What if he pooped?” Mordred chewed on the gummy bears with a slight grin on his face and shook his head. “This is too fun.”
“Hoooooooooo.” Sky made a long hoot and flapped his enormous wings while still on top of Ella’s head, and made her hair messy. Sky eyed the girl as she rummaged her bag and brought out treats. “HOOOO.” Sky made a louder sound trying to tell the girl that he wanted rats and not some ordinary owl treats. Of course, Mordred knew what it meant but he kept his mouth shut and continued to watch the two of them. Nope, he wasn’t going to help Ella. “Oh no, Sky. Didn’t I tell you to trust no one?” The Slytherin said right away when Sky was about to eat the treats off Ella’s hand. He shifted his cold stare from his owl to Ella. “See what I did there?” the Slytherin simply smirked and looked outside the window. He didn’t notice that the carriage was already moving.
“Are we there yet, because I can’t stay too long in this carriage. It’s suffocating in here.” Mordred said in a cold, blunt tone. “Hate me all you want, puffer. I don’t and won’t care.”

Ella didn't understand why the owl seemed upset and she definitely didn't understand why Mordred was smiling but she did her best to ignore him, focusing on the bird instead...That was until Mordred spoke up.
Ouch.
As he looked at her she bit her lip, holding his gaze. She didn't dare speak because she knew if she opened her mouth it'd be over, she'd break down. Do you know that feeling, the one just before you start to cry? The one where a lump forms in your throat making it hard to breath? And the way your stomach, it feels as if it's dropped to the floor? That's how Ella felt right now. She wanted out of this carriage and she wanted away from Mordred.
...And then her feelings betrayed her as he spoke to her like she was someone he hated. Like she was trash that he didn't mind just throwing away. They'd been friends before, yeah? Ella had told him things...personal things. And now...well they were nothing anymore, it seemed.
The blonde felt the tears coming and she looked out the window quickly, hoping he wouldn't see. Silly really, he'd probably find this whole thing funny which made Ella feel even more ashamed about losing it in front of him. Wiping at her eyes angrily, the blonde sniffed and closed them tight. They'd be at Hogwarts soon, yeah?
