Oichi saw the homework appear on the board in her common room and headed down to the room indicated for the homework. There she saw that it was supposed to be a partners assignment. Great. She looked over the instructions and figured she could do just fine on her own. She grabbed a peppermint toad and placed it just outside her pod. She then grabbed her balloon and it was at that moment she realized what must inside. Noooooooo! It's that noxious potion, I don't wanna smell my worst nightmare. But it's only for a moment, it won't be forever. Just the plunge. Oichi dropped her balloon and smelled the foulest thing she had ever smelled rotten eggs mixed troll dung, mixed with toxic sewage and a number of other unpleasant things she could not recognize cause her head was already spinning as she gagged. With her bit of sanity left in her she grabbed her wand a jabbed it at the glass. Before long the stench was sucked away and the pod opened. She got out and grabbed for her peppermint toad. She quickly unwrapped and plopped it in her mouth. A peppermint toad never tasted so good. She chewed it in earnest and soon felt better and got up and quickly left. Now all that is left to do is write an essay on the experience and try to be nice about it, yeah right! No, I have to be nice, somehow.

Alyssa had read Professor Lafay's homework assignment on the bulletin board and had rushed down to the classroom. She was glad that they had been able to vent out the gaseous fumes from the classroom after that disastrous potion making by the Ravenclaw.

Walking into the classroom she noticed that there were pods where Professor Lafay's desk used to be. "Guess this is where we're supposed to go into with the balloon." Alyssa pointed out to Jory before she walked to where she had sat that day in class and found a balloon filled with something. 'This must contain the Noxious Potion' Alyssa told her friend who had agreed to partner up with her.

Picking up the balloon, she turned to Jory. "Okay I'm going in now. Get ready with one of those peppermint toads when I come out because I have a feeling that Professor Lafay will have a problem seeing puke all over her classroom floor." she told Jory with a laugh.

She then turned around and entered one of the pods and closed the door behind her. Waving to Jory, she took a deep breath and held it, before getting up the nerve to drop the balloon. Once the balloon burst open on the pod floor, Alyssa could see the fumes rising. She reluctantly released her breath and took in another one, breathing in the fumes.

Immediately, she started to smell things that made her start to gag. "ACK!...ACK!!..This is totally horrible." Alyssa said to herself as she started to get nauseous....REALLY NAUSEOUS. She started to feel woozy, and started breaking out in a cold sweat. Alyssa tried to hold her breath to keep from breathing in the horrible stench but it was too late. The smells seemed to have permeated her skin. Her smell sense was working over time. She could smell the stench of the dead deer she had found in the woods last summer. She could smell the horrible stench of a portable toilet she was forced to use when she had to go, the mixture of fecal matter and urine. She could smell the mixture of sulphur plus mountain troll dung!!

Alyssa had to get out of the pod before she threw up inside it. But first she needed to vent the pod and suck out the potion's fumes. Taking out her wand, she touched the wall of the pod. Immediately, she could hear a swooshing sucking sound like one would hear from a vacuum cleaner. Alyssa bent over holding her tummy, trying to keep from vomitting. The moment the swooshing sound stopped, Alyssa quickly opened and exited the pod.

"Hurry, Jory. The toad!!" Alyssa reached out with one hand while covering her mouth with the other.

Jory surveyed the pods that Alyssa had pointed out to him. "Yup, that's it,'' he said. To be honest, he was not looking forward to taking this potion. He disliked anything that made him feel sick but he wasn't about to chicken out. As Alyssa went to her seat, he did the same and retrieved the balloon.

So Lyssa's going first. He waved back as she entered one of the pods. He grabbed a pod and waited nervously for her to emerge.

It seemed like ages to the badger when Alyssa finally emerged covering her mouth with one of her hands. Hurrying over to her, Jory pushed a toad into her other hand. "Here, chew on it quickly.'' He wouldn't tell her, but he thought she looked rather terrible. Very pale. The look didn't suit her at all.

Alyssa quickly took the Peppermint Toad from Jory and bit into it. Her first reflex action was to spit it out, but she kept the bit in her mouth, chewed and then swallowed it. When she managed to keep it down, she popped the entire toad into her mouth and chewed on it faster before swallowing it whole. Gradually the nausea disappeared and she began to feel better. Taking in deep breaths of clean air, she looked over at Jory.

"Thanks Jory. You're a life saver. Okay I guess it's your turn. Good luck. Believe me you're going to need it. I'll be out here ready with your Peppermint Toad when you come out." she smiled assuringly to her "twin".

Jory grinned. "No problem. You feeling better now?'' Alyssa still looked a bit pale but other than that she looked fine.

He took a deep breath. "Okay, here goes,'' he said, one of his hands on the pod door and the other clutching the potion filled balloon. "See you in a few.'' He opened the door and stepped in. The badger hesitated a few seconds before finally dropping the balloon. He wasn't holding his breath, so he started inhaling the potion immediately.

"YUCK!'' he exclaimed, really hating the potion already. Now he was holding his breath, but it didn't take him long to realise that he had to breathe because how else was he to get this done?

Jory released exhaled and then inhaled. Immediately, he recognised the smell of smelly, sweaty socks. The smell he always got when he and the team finished playing cricket or football after they took off their sneakers when he was in Muggle school and at the park. Now, he felt as if he would throw up. He clamped his hands over his mouth. Now he could smell rotting food. The same odor that had emitted from his neighbour's thrash cans when the garbage disposal workers had gone on strike last summer. And also he could smell the disgusting smell of fish at that market in Hawaii from a few years back.

"I'm really gonna throw up now,'' the Puff thought wildly. Quickly, he pulled out his wand and touched the pod's wall with it. There was a humming sound and he knew the pod was being cleaned. After the humming stopped, he pushed open the door and he left the pod, his lips now clamped tightly shut. Alyssa was already handing him the toad which he took gratefully and crammed it into his mouth. Still fighting the urge to vomit, Jory chewed and tried taking deep breaths of the glorious fresh air around him. He began to fell better a minute or two later. "Thanks, Lyssa,'' he said with a weak smile and wiping sweat from his forehead. "That was probably the worst potion I ever brewed.'' It was obviously the worst he had ever used.

Alyssa nodded,"Yeah I'm feeling a litte better now." when Jory asked her how she was doing before he himself entered the pod. She watched and waited as she saw his reaction when he breathed in the fumes from the potion and was ready with the Peppermint Toad, which she handed immediately to him, when he came out of the pod.

She let him chew and swallow it and waited for him to speak before she replied to him."No worries. That's what partners are for. I told you it was really bad. I still have the memory of what I smelled in my head. Once you're feeling better, we should go and complete the rest of the homework, and write down what we experienced while it is still fresh in our memories." Alyssa suggested.

She waited for Jory to fully recover before she made her way out of the classroom.

After grabbing a quick something to eat, Dylan headed down to the Potions lab...He'd agreed to meet Skylar so they could complete their homework together. He also wanted to talk to her about some outside tutoring...They did have a potions lab...The Slytherin WAS determined to make the Gryffindor better at this...

Entering the room, he made his way over to the desk he'd last occupied, spying the balloon. Hmph...and then the bowl of peppermint frogs. Hmph....and THEN the pod...

They were testing this on themselves?! Had he missed that in reading over the assignment?...Blergh...As he settled his bag down on the table, Dylan had the distinct feeling that perhaps eating before coming down here had NOT been the greatest idea. Merlin, the thought of this actually had him cringing...

As it were, all he needed to do was wait for Skylar, now...and then they'd get started.

Selina was honestly just hanging out in the common room munching on some cookies that Kurumi had given her when she came to the match when the seventh year remembered that she had to meet Dylan down in the potions lab and that she was late. That was why she had run upstairs to her dorm, put on her robes, threw her hair up in a high pony tail and booked it down to the dungeons. It was ALSO why when she ran into the dungeons she was very out of breath, "I'm here, I'm here!"

Sort of dragging her feet now, because she was exhausted from all of the running she had just done, she made her way over to Dylan. "Okay, I'm here," she said still sort of breath. Hopefully, he didn't realize that she was late. It was a fool's hope, but she was going to hope anyway.

Leaning her elbows on the table, she looked up at him and asked, "So what exactly are we doing, Professor?" Yeah, she had given in and started calling him that, but it was only because it was MEANT to be condescending.

...shut up.

Potions. Ofim wasn't sure about his feelings for this class. He didn't even know there was homework for this class until he heard some other students talking about it. He'd finished Muggle Studies homework last night. That took forever. He made his way down to the Potions classwork that he JUST had to do this homework in.

As he entered the classroom he saw pods at the front of the room. SIGH, this his going to be fun. He grabbed the balloon that he was supposed to and then he remember hearing that he had to have a friend help him. He didn't have any friends at this school. NOW WHAT?! He just kinda stood there and looked around...

There was not a SINGLE thing that Alex was looking forward to doing in this potions lab assignment. Not even eating the peppermint toad. Nope. Bad smells were one of Alex's biggest pet peeves and he had a sensitive stomach. He hoped Lafay was prepared to clean up any bits of his lunch that just HAPPENED to make their way to the surface again. He shuddered. Getting sick was ANOTHER one of this biggest pet peeves.

He walked straight to the chair he had occupied during class and noticed a blonde haired guy standing next to him. He'd seen the kid around, but had no idea who he was. And everyone else was already partnered up....

"Erm...hi. I'm Alex...wanna partner up?' he asked him.

No better way to get acquainted with someone new than possibly throwing up on them, right?

The Gryffindor wasn't looking forward to this assignment. He didn't know anyone and he didn't really like putting himself out there to talk to others. What if they don't want to talk to him? Then he just looks like a loser. Yeah, confidence was not his strong point. At all. He really just wanted to put the balloon down, slowly slink back out of the classroom and go find some food to munch on..

Ofim was starting to lower the balloon back onto the seat he'd taken it off of until heard a voice.. a male voice. He jumped a little, yeah he was a little jumpy. He was TRYING TO SKIP OUT ON THIS HOMEWORK. OH NO. WAS HE GOING TO GET IN TROUBLE?! Looking up he saw an older kid. The blonde looked around because there was no way this older dude was talking to him, right? Oh, wait, he'd seen this guy around the castle a few times. He was pretty sure this guy WASN'T in his house. Did he pick up on the fact that Ofim was trying to back out of this assignment? Was he going to rat him out? he wandered as he narrowed his eyes a bit.

Ofim grinned at Alex when he realized that yeah, he was talking to him! "Oh, Hi. I'm Ofim" he said extending a hand to shake hands with the older kid. THAT'S WHAT GUYS DO, RIGHT? The first year blushed a tad bit. He wanted to be partners? OKAY. "Yeah, partners. That sounds good to me. Would you like to go first...or me?" he asked this older kid.

Lex was very much unamused. They had to leave the classroom before she could finish her potion so she never got to walk out with some of it in a shiny new vial. How unfair was that? And to think she spent so much time on it too! To make matters worse there was actually homework--but not just homework, homework that made a lion walk ALL THE WAY back down to the dungeons after leaving her Common Room. See if they had only gotten the potion to take with them, she could have gone anywhere but no.

The second year bolted into the classroom, knowing that Alice wouldn't be too far behind. Right now she wanted to see if her potion was still there...bu...but it wasn't...

Sniffle.

All her hard work--LOOKIT, balloons!

Awww. She scowled a bit when she saw the one at her seat. Why did it have to be a pink one. She didn't want it. Turning to the entrance she waited until Alice entered then asked, "What colour is your balloon and can we switch? This one isn't cool." Then she made a face at the thing. YesTheColourMatteredOKAY???

Ethan headed down to the dungeons, intent on completing his Potions homework. Not that he was particularly eager to get it done, especially since he had a decent idea of what it would entail, but he seemed to have a bad habit lately of putting off homework.. or not doing it at all. He thought maybe he should try harder.

As he entered the classroom, the sixth year noticed a few others already there and some weird compartment-type things at the front of the room. He walked over to his normal seat and picked yup the balloon sitting at his chair, visually inspecting it. Great.. he knew what he was in for and not really looking forward to it. Sure, Lafay said it wouldn't make them physically sick.. but did he really trust her word? Maybe she was just saying that so no one would have second thoughts about trying out the potion.. What if he puked anyway?

Best to try to put that thought out of his mind or he most likely would. Ethan took his eyes from the balloon and glanced over at the door. No sign of Minerva yet. Hopefully she wouldn't be long so he could get this over with..

Alex blinked. Handshake? A bit proper but ok. He smiled and shook the dude's hand. Should he tell him that he was the brother of Sierra Greingoth, the infamous Slytherin troublemaker? Nah, he'd wait on that. At least until they were done and he couldn't skip out on being partners with him for the homework. "Nice to meet you Ofim," he said with a grin.

"Umm, I guess I can go first," Alex said. Better get it over with, right? Also, he had just met the kid and wasn't about to just throw him in the pod like that. That wouldn't be very friendly at all!

Okay, so this older student wasn't going to rat Ofim out. RELIEF! "It's nice to meet you too. Thanks for asking to partner up. Otherwise I'd probably have not had anyone to do this with" he said as he looked over to the pods in the room. Those things looked so weird. He didn't want to have to go in there..

OH ALEX VOLUNTEERED TO GO FIRST! WHAT A NICE GUY! Yeeees, Ofim thought to himself. "If you feel like you're gonna barf, warn me. Please. I have a weak stomach!" Ofim said to Alex as they moved near a pod.

Her ickle moved FAST. Not that Alice had trouble keeping up, mind you, because she didn't. She was just taking her leisurely time. "Lex, slow down," she requested as she followed the bouncing second year into the classroom. And, wait, why were there balloons everywhere? Hers wasn't pink, thankfully, it was purple, which wasn't much better, but tolerable.

"Mine's purple. Nah, I don't care for pink." Lex knew that, didn't she? She should have.

But, it didn't really matter, did it? "They'll be popped and we'll be nauseous in no time, mmk?" Not that it was any better, but at least there would be no more pink balloons for Lex to fret over. "You okay? Can we enter a pod now?" Of course she was. Without another word, Alice wrapped her fingers around her wrist, forming a manacle, and dragged her ickle forward. "You wanna go first?"

So she could get rid of that horrid pink balloon, obviously.

Minerva walked into the potions room. She didn't do very well making the potion for some reason. Her head hadn't been in classes and she just couldn't figure out why. So she was very nervous going to use the potion for the homework. It was going to make them sick, now who would be happy about doing that. No one that she knew at least.

Seeing Ethan at their seats she made her way over. "Hello" She gave a weak smile and then looked at the balloon, but didn't pick it up. Glancing around the room Minerva took in all that they needed to do. "Did you want to go first or should I?" She didn't mind either way, but it was time to get this done.

Oh great. Another weak stomach. He chuckled and shook his head. "I'll try super hard not to," he said before grabbing his balloon, taking a deep breath, and entering the pod.

He already felt like he was suffocating in this thing and could hardly imagine how it'd feel once the potion was in here. Taking a deep breath, he dropped the balloon...and it didn't break! For once, he was grateful he had a water balloon that was ultra force resistant. At least that bought him a few more seconds.

He picked it up and dropped it again, and this time...THIS TIME the potion exploded out of the balloon. For a second or two nothing happened, and he thought that maybe this wouldn't be too bad, until the stench overpowered him a second later. OH GOOD MERLIN! Rotten eggs, body odor, smelly animals--it was awful!

Was he supposed to stay here a certain amount of time? Oh Merlin, he hadn't checked the instructions! He couldn't remember! After what felt like an eternity, he grabbed his wand and pushed it against the wall. The suction spell activated and the potion was drained, but he still felt sick and his head was spinning.

He toppled out of the pod, hand reaching forward expectedly for a peppermint toad as he gasped heavily.

Noxious potion. That was Renesmee's first thought as she entered the classroom. She wasn't sure in what form or how, but she was almost convinced it would have something to do with that. The Hufflepuff eyed the balloons placed on each desk. Well this was going to be juuuust the best fun ever.[/sarcasm] Not even daring to touch the balloon, Ness just looked at it with a pout and then looked up at what else was in the classroom her eyes now fixated on the pods. Another interesting thing.

Aaahh the instructions. The thing that would make sense of this all. Keeping her facial expression the same, the red head scanned the instructions and almost wanted to run out the classroom once she was done. She didn't want to do anything to do with that potion let alone smell it. Three words..well really one. Ewww. Ewww. Ewww. She'd have to cope though, this was after all homework.

Enjoying the fresh air whilst she could, Nessie waited for Bee to come along. Ravenclaws were always good partners in homework and Bee was really the closest Ravvie friend Ness had.

The first year really hoped the older kid didn't ralph everywhere. That'd be gross and he'd probably throw up too. DISGUSTING.

He watched as Alex entered the pod and dropped the balloon. IT DIDN'T POP? WHY. Oh, it popped on the second try. GOOD. Ofim watched Alex's face and couldn't help but laugh. Oh, that didn't look fun at all.

He reached to get a peppermint toad so he'd be ready just as the older boy fell out of the pod. "HERE. Take it." he said shoving the toad towards Alex.

GREAT. This meant it was his turn. With his red balloon in hand he entered the pod. He didn't want to do this. What if he just HELD his breath the whole time. He could totally do that, right? HOW WOULD ANYONE KNOW THAT HE HELD HIS BREATH? He was still thinking about this option and not paying attention to much of anything else when the balloon slipped out of his hand. BAM there came the stench of sweating hockey pads, the way OLD PEOPLE SMELLED, that gross sausage his grandfather makes on Saturday mornings...

NO. Ofim wasn't liking this. TOO MUCH GROSS. He fumbled for his wand and jabbed the pod. FINALLY, he was out!. He took a DEEEP BREATH of FRESH air. "Toad. Please!" he said to Alex as his stomach started feeling worse.

Ethan brightened as Minerva approached. Sure, he still wasn't looking forward to this potions experience, but she was a definite bright point. "Ready to do this?" he attempted a grin at her small smile. "Doesn't matter.." he shrugged at her words. "I can go first so you can see what it'll be like?" And then he could get over with as well.

"Get that peppermint toad ready for me, okay?" Ethan said with a tentative smile as he carried his balloon over to the pod and stepped inside. Here goes nothing, he thought as he closed the door and held the balloon out it front of him. Taking a deep breath, the sixth year dropped it to the floor of the compartment and watched as the green smoke began rising.

He became increasingly aware of a foul stench growing more potent by the second. Ethan resisted the urge to cover his nose, trying to identify the scents as quickly as possible so he could get out of there. The boy grimaced as the first smell became clear to him. It was bad, though remotely tolerable.. like all the sweaty, smelly clothes from both teams after an intense game of Quidditch, all piled atop of each other. Gross.

Oh but the smell was getting worse, much worse. Ethan tried holding his breath, but he could still smell something awful. Oh, what was it? Rotting fish, perhaps? Yes, he thought that might be it.. like a bushel full of trout caught on a hot summer day and left to sit out in the sun for a day or four.. rotting so badly with maggots crawling all over them. Great, now that Ethan had thought about what the smell was, he had gotten that mental image.. and he could feel his stomach turning.

The Ravenclaw was sure he was going to be sick and he clapped a hand over his mouth as a precautionary measure. He needed to get away from this smell now.. but he still needed to identify at least one more. Searching his mind, Ethan was sure he smelled vomit in there as well.. though it was quite possible it was more the thought in his mind. Still, it was good enough for him and he couldn't stand to be in there any more or there really would be a reason to smell vomit.

Quickly, he touched his wand to the side and the fumes were sucked away. He opened the door for some fresh air and immediately crouched to the ground, his hand still over his mouth and his head between his knees. Oh, he really felt sick now...

She got set to start whining. Why wouldn't Alice switch with her? Clearly the colour didn't affect her as much so it would have been fine but she was cut off by Alice going on about popping balloons and nauseous feelings. Not particularly anything she was interested in. Why would anyone wanna get nauseous?

Before she could question this she was latched onto and being pulled over to the pod things.

Wait. Huh?

She got to go first? COOOOL! "Sure I will!" GRIN. "But...uh...how does this work exactly...? Do I just step in and pop the balloon--what if pink stuff come out?" And now she was frowning again. "And what will happen exactly?" She peered curiously around her ickle parent at the tables. "Did you notice those before?" She asked curiously taking in the peppermint toads. "I want one to nom on while I'm in here. Can I?" That was the last question, she promised!

Lex talked a LOT, but Alice was prepared for the questions. She knew her ickle well, mhm. "Step in, pop the balloon, and right when you feel like you're about to vomit your guts out, I come in and save the day." Because that's what good ickle parents did, yeah? "Yeah. But don't eat one yet! It's my job to GIVE one to you. Later. Be patient." And then she patted her ickle's head, all mommy-like.

"Now. Go in, mmk?" The fourth year nudged Lex inside a pod. "Just drop the balloon, then tap the inside wall with your wand when you feel sick, okay? It'll open, and then I'll give you a toad and you'll feel all better." And then it was her turn to almost hurl. Heh.

OOOOOOHHHHHH!

Lex nodded with a wide smile when Alice went ahead and answered her questions. It was nice that she got them all too because now she was clear on everything and could get this show on the road but first she took another look at the toads. Couldn't they be chocolate frogs instead? Those would make her feel better no matter what!

She allowed herself to be nudged into the pod and gave one final wave to Alice before the door shut.

Bliiiiink.

There was no chance of this suddenly malfunctioning then her staying in her for the rest of her life with all her chocolate frogs locked on the outside...right? There were other people who did this and they all lived plus Alice was right outside. If things got sticky her ickle parent would find some way of biting her way in and saving her. Duh.

So on to the popping! She fished a quill out of her pocket and gave the balloon a harsh jab. Take that you bloody pink thing!

Merlin. What was that??? It smelt AWFUL in here! Why was she smelling Amanda's favourite perfume? Hadn't she left the woman miles away back near London??? A-And...was that...was that--UGH! Soon a rush of scents swirled around her nose making her head spin just a bit. What WAS this????

Get me out of here!

These smells. UUUUUUGGGGHH. The twelve year old felt quite sick now. What was she meant to do when this happened? From lack of any immediate memory she began banging on the walls. Eeek! It wasn't working! She'd be stuck in her 'til she threw up everything but her brains--unless the brains went too but she didn't wanna be stupid!!!

She banged even harder but had to abandon this as a wave of nausea hit her. This wasn't working. She drew for her wand but it ended up knocking against the lining of the pod as she brought it up.

Suddenly the door slid open and a burst of fresh air replaced the foul odors that had her swirling just seconds ago. "Aliiiiiiiiice..." She grumbled right before scowling. "I feel awwwwwful." Candy now????
