Where seminars compulsory? Lex had always wondered ever since the first she attended. What was her motivation? Would she get a detention for skipping? So many questions actually. Like. What was the point of them? Not that she protested very much to them as much as she did last year, she was just...curious.

She walked into the Great Hall, not sure what she'd see this time; merlin knew everyone had their own idea of what a seminar looked like, and grinned at the sight of fluffy stuff!!!

There was officially a bright side to this.

If things got boring she'd get more comfy and sleep. Not a bad idea and she thought it up all by herself. Yup! She took a comfy bean bag chair, grab one of those poofy things to elevate her feet and stared over at the man by the table with a wide grin on her face. "Hello there Mister!" She looked around for a bit. What were those papers on his desk for--dear Merlin! They weren't learning actual stuff, were they???

Seminars.

Ella generally liked these because she got a chance to learn something she wouldn't necessarily be exposed to in her other classes. Besides, the ones she'd attended in the past had been pretty hands-on which was always nice. The blonde tended to learn best when she was able to use the information practically.

Entering the room, the fifteen year old grinned at the beanbags. She liked this seminar already! Oh and there was a dude. One she didn't know, but she assumed he was leading this lovely seminar so he got a big old smile and wave from the badger. "Hello, Sir!" Oh...and handouts and paper and pens. "Are we supposed to take these?" She asked softly, eyes on the items. She wanted to check before she went all grabby-hands on the materials.

Finding a green beanbag, the blonde flopped down and waved at Lex. "Hello!"

Minerva walked into the seminar.. This sounded well to be honest really awesome!! She couldn't wait for the seminar to begin. Looking around the room she saw not many were there, frowning she hoped more would come. "Hello Sir.. I'm very excited for today's seminar. I'm Minerva Wheatborn."

Turning she looked around the room, "Hey Lex, Hey Ella" She found an empty beanbag and sat down. Pulling out her parchment, Minerva got ready for the class to begin.

When Peyton heard about this seminar she didn't even hesitate to think if she was going or not. She enjoyed learning new languages, and this would be her fourth one. She had given up on Irish. Why her dad wanted to her to learn that language, was beyond her.

So, like always, she skipped down the halls to get to her destination and then stood at the entryway to peer inside.

Eeep! New language!

The snake walked in, her green-gray eyes landing on the beanbags automatically. What was it with adults at Hogwarts spoiling them with comfy chairs? It was awesome. Choosing a beanbag she deemed comfy enough for her, Peyton dropped her bag next to it, then turned to the man. HEY! Wasn't he a candidate person? Hmm. "Good day, Mister..?" She didn't know his name.

Seminars. Messer didn't really care that much about this particular class but when he heard that today seminar was about How To Speak Mermish, he couldn't resist. He need to attend this seminar. Its not like everyday he could learn that particular language.

The fourth year made his way toward the Great Hall where the seminar was being held and thank Merlin he didn't need to take a lot of stairs to reach his destination.

When he entered the room, Messer was greeted by beanbag chairs. A lot and a lot of beanbag chairs. Cool! And there he's, their Mermish language teacher. "Hello, sir." He gave him a curt nod. Before he went to search for an empty seat, Messer saw papers on his desk. He's not going to give them quiz right away, right? Because the fourth year has no idea about Mermish language. Nada. Zero.

The were going to learn to speak another language? That was cool, even if he didn't have any idea what this language was. Entering the room, he gave the guy a grin. "Hello, Sir" He was familiar looking, was he one of those candidate people? ehh, that wasn't important. Finding a seat near Ella, he asked, "So, Keeper Lady, whats Mermish?" Because that was important.

Mermish learning? How awesome.

Calista Elwood had been interested in Mermaids vaguely thoughout her young life but even more strongly every since Everett Scabior had brought her back the bracelet from Atlantis. She was wearing the blue-green sea glass braclet now as she entered the spare classroom that was hosting the seminar. Since it was not a regular lesson, she assumed it was okay for Professors to attend.

No matter, regardless, she was already there.

She walked through the open door and took a seat in the back of the class. The students could have the front. She sat down on a chair and pulled her feet up to sit cross-legged. She put on a pair of reading glasses, pulled her hair back, and began to scribble a header on a piece of parchment to start her notes.

As more friends entered the room, Ella smiled and waved at them in greeting. And O____O Was that Messy? He was back?! Blink. They'd be having a chat as soon as this seminar was over, that was for sure.

Kaiden. Beam! The blonde turned to her teammate and whispered, "Mermish is the language of the Merpeople." Nod. And they'd probably go into more specifics once the class started, yeah? "So I guess we'll be learning Mermish terms and such. It'll be fun." At least Ella hoped so.

Who wouldn't pass this kind of seminar up. Learn to talk mermish, Oakey was not sure when he'd need this, but seriously mermish come on! He grabbed the worksheets a a notepad as he entered. "Hiya Mister...?" This guy looked familiar to him...one of candidates?...

Ah well by the end of the class he'll be the candidate that could get merpeople to vote for him, if they could vote.

He flopped down onto one of the poofy looking beanbag seats and waited for the class to kick off.

Alyssa had read the notice on the Badger Notice Board. Learn how to speak Mermish. Now that was a most likely a language as confusing as Gobbledygook and something that she most likely wouldn't be using very often, but Alyssa figured that learning another language was not a bad idea. She already knew how to speak and write Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese fluently. A non-muggle language would be a nice touch.

So that was why she was now walking into this classroom. She saw that instead of chairs there were cushions and bean bags before noticing the man sitting in the largest of the bean bags. She dropped her backpack next to one of the yellow bean bags before walking over to him and smiled in greeting. "Hello Sir." Alyssa said to him. Then she saw what on the desk in front of the classroom. A pile of papers and some writing material.

"Are these for us, Sir?" Alyssa asked politely. She didn't need any parchment, pen or pencil, as she had her own. But she definitely didn't have those official looking worksheets with writing on them.

Mo had no clue if he was good at languages. Aside from the whole being bilingual thing at Beauxbatons, but that was like... just languages he already knew how to speak. This might be different. Plus... what if his mouth wasn't even set up for shaping Mermish vowels?

What if Mermish didn't have vowels? Like Welsh!

Mo eyed the poof things doubtfully before taking a seat. He couldn't learn in a reclining position. He would rather sleep like that. "Good day, Prof... sir. Mister sir."

Okay. Anya Phillips was not a fan of class. She barely had the motivation to make it to a normal class. So, it was a little odd that the Gryffindor found herself excited for an optional one.

But here she was. Excited. This was pretty much a once in a lifetime opportunity. On her wrist she sported her bracelet souvenir from Atlantis.

She then nodded a greeting to the guy running the lesson. Then plopped down in a seat. Teach me, random guy! She was ready to learn.

Sky didn't really care about learning Mermish, really. She had all the languages she needed with English, Spanish, and French. Not to mention the bits and pieces of the other languages she knew. But her father was always going on and on about how some Magical Creature languages would help her if she wanted to work in the wizarding world in Britian. While she was pretty sure she was going to return to the U.S. after Hogwarts, it couldn't hurt to be prepared, right?

So she entered the classroom and stopped a moment to take it all in. It didn't look much different from a regular classroom, except the guy up front whom she assumed was leading this seminar. Hey, wait a minute. Wasn't that one of the other BOG candidates? His last name escaped her at the moment, so she decided to call him by his first name. Besides, it should be okay, since if she remembered correctly, he was one of her aunt's fellow department heads. "Hello, Mr. Gavin." Hey, at least she'd said mister.

As she was walking to a bean bag, she noticed the other teacher type in the room, this one a whole lot more familiar. And that didn't like professor's to be called by their first names. Oops. "Hello, Professor Elwood." Then she flopped into a purple bag and stacked two poofs on top of each other and propped her feet on top, ready for the lesson to begin.

A while ago Erik had heard there was going to be a lesson on a language, a language which he already knew and spoke very well. It should have been no surprise, then, that with the Headmistress' offer still standing, the man who spoke thirteen languages chose to sit in on this particular lesson. The fact that the instructor was one of his rival candidates had nothing at all to do with it.

Erik walked into the room off the Great Hall and paused as soon as he saw the room's layout. He really did not wish to sit on or near the floor. This was strike one for the instructor. He did notice another adult (other than Gavin) in the room, and made his way toward her spot in the back.

Giving Gavin a short nod, Erik reluctantly sat down on the floor on a simple and plain cushion. He nodded toward the blonde woman he'd sat beside and realised she was one of the professors...divination, if his memory served him correctly. "Hello," he greeted her, noting that she was...taking notes.

Interesting...

A class on how to speak Mermish. This would be interesting. The only language Penelope really knew was English...and a few phrases in French. She would know more if her boyfriend would stop being lazy and teach her though. Both were probably different from Mermish though, since Mermish was spoken by merpeople. Atticus probably knew it since he was all about creatures and all that, but she'd never really thought to ask him about it.

Maybe she could impress him with her Mermish if all went well in this class.

"Hi there," she greeted the adult guy in the front - wasn't he also running for the Board like Atticus was? She felt like she'd seen him in that stuff before - then plopped down into a beanbag chair. Ohh, this was nice. She felt like she was a little stuck all sunk into the beanbag like she was, but that was okay. They surely wouldn't need to move when they were learning how to speak a language right?

Giving the first girl a smile as she entered the classroom "Hello," he said warmly to her.

"Hello" Nodding he gave her a smile as well, "If you wish, feel free to take the handout, a pen and notepad."

He was pleased to see how many were attending his class! "Hello, pleasure to meet you Minerva."

"Mister Higareda." he said giving the young snake a smile.

"Hello" he said with a smile to the next student who appeared.


"Hello" another lad had entered, and the smile grew on his face at the boys question to another student.

MERLIN! He was nervous already and here one of the professors was to join his class even. Giving her a smile and nod regardless though, he easily hid his nerves that were in his stomach.

"Hello" he said with another smile to the Hufflepuff boy who entered "Higareda."

"Hello miss" he said offering her a smile "Yes, if you wish to take one of each feel free to."

Giving the boy a kind smile he nodded "Good day to you."

Giving her nod and smile as the girl walked in and took a seat he wondered if maybe he should ask if someone or two would like to help hand the papers, notepads and pens out.

"Hello" he said beaming at her. He wondered if one of the students might recognize him. He remembered the girl from the Hogsmeade debate.

Merlin. Erik had decided to come. Gavin was nervous enough but he wasn't about to show that still. Giving him a short nod in return, he turned to those seated and around the room already. "If I could have a few helpers come up and help pass out the handout, pen and notepad. We'll begin shortly here."

Looking back towards the door as another student walked in he gave her a smile as well "Hello."

We'll begin in about 12 hours from now. Giving a chance for anyone else to join us if they wish! The first two people to post that wish to hand out the items can feel free to do so!

Remember keep chatting to a minimum

Oakey had some difficulty getting back up from the soft comfy beanbag, "I'll help pass something out, Mr.Higerdy" That's what he said yeah? Higerdy. At least that's what he thought the man said.

Oakey's eyes eyes went to who Selina called the Bond man. Had she sent him the letter yet? If not, he'd could go and talk with the guy himself and see if he's just creepy, or worth voting for in the end.

Alyssa smiled when the visiting lecturer told her that she could take one of each. "Thank you, Sir. My name is Alyssa by the way." she told him before reaching out to take the documents from the pile.

O_o he needed a volunteer to help hand them out? Alyssa decided that since she already had her hand on the stack, that she would offer to hand out some of them. "I can help, Sir." Alyssa offered taking up a pile. She looked at what she was holding in her hand. From what she could see it was a worksheet with Mermish words on them. 'So this is like our translation sheet. Cool.' Alyssa thought to herself reading it as she walked back to her bean bag.

Then she remembered what she had offered to do. Placing one set on her bean bag, she began handing out the rest to each of the students sitting near her, until they were all gone.

Jory was sure he was late. He hurried into the room. But by the looks of it, the seminar hadn't start as yet; he breathed in relief. "Good day, Sir,'' he said to the man, who was definitely the instructor.

The Puffer headed off to take a seat. A beanbag would work nicely. And that's when he spotted Professor Elwood.He waved to her. "Even the Professor wants to learn Mermish,'' he thought, grinning.

Mermish. Heh. This couldn't be too hard. Being able to speak three languages fairly fluently, Nessie knew she wouldn't struggle that much but then again Mermish was a language unlike any other. It was different and something quite unique and fascinating.

With a curious pout the red head headed towards the room off the great hall and entered the room quite surprised at the amount of people already there. So people were really into Mermish then? Heh it seemed like it.

"Hello. Sir." She gave the familiar looking visitor a nod and then took her seat waiting for the seminar to begin.

"Thank you." he said giving the boy a smile. Passing him the notepads and pens, he corrected gently 'Higareda."

"A pleasure Alyssa." he said offering her another smile "Thank you for your help as well."

"Hello." he said offering a smile to the next boy who entered the room.

"Hello." he said giving the hufflepuff girl a smile as well.

Turning to the class he gave them all a smile "Hello and welcome to 'How to Speak Mermish'. My name is Gavin Higareda, I am the International Magical Cooperation department head at the British Ministry. Mermish is just one of the 12 languages I speak."

"I believe everyone should learn at least one language besides their primary, it opens up the world for each of you. And for you to be students in this school I think it would be very beneficial for each of you to be able to speak and converse with some of the creatures on the grounds or in this case, in the lake." Looking over the students and even glancing towards Erik and the professor, he asked "How many of you already speak another language or two or even more already, and which language or languages do you speak?"

Belle was very keen on learning a new language. She figured she should at least learn a language useful in the wizarding world. Then the professor asked if they know another language. Belle raised her hand, "Professor i know French. I am not really fluent but i can recognize it and speak it.."

She studied french back in elementary school. Her mother wanted her to be more open to cultures. Her dad was not keen on it but it did help her.

Alyssa listened as the visitor introduced himself. Mr. Gavin Higareda. Okay. Nice name. Then he asked a question. She wondered whether she should admit how many languages she spoke. She didn't want to sound like she was bragging....get tested.

Finally after much consideration, she decided to reveal what she could do but to minimize her knowledge. Raising her hand, she gave her answer.

"Sir, I can speak French, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. But I don't speak it often enough." Having a mother who once worked in the Department of International Cooperation and a father who had meetings with foreign law enforcement agencies, allowed her the opportunity to get to learn to speak these languages.

That's what he said, Higerdy. Ah Well. He gave the man an odd look for repeating his name twice to him.

Oakey took the notepads and pens and quickly passed them all out to everyone that was there, including Mr.Vinteren and Professor Elwood in the back. Once he finished passing them out he kept a pen and notepad for himself and sat back down on his beanbag chair.
"I speak a little bit of broken German, and I think it's safe to say we all know some Latin too." Practically all the spells they know are derived from the Latin language.
