Brisk cold air flowed into the arena from the semi-open windows, no fire or blankets in sight for any hopes of it warming up. The pillow styled mats and desks were absent from their places on the floor from previous lessons, however, if your senses were awake during the moment you entered the arena, one could have noticed the ground seemed to be a bit more soft and squishy than usual. Other than the rather bare and chilly feeling of the room, Professor Romanos was standing next to the stands, looking rather cheerful and unfazed by the cold. Come in and take a seat, whether it be on the ground, on the stands, or just plain stand if you so wish. The lesson will, of course, start soon.

It was Defense Against Dark Arts time...
Yawning a bit, as he had failed to get enough sleep the previous night, Richard Turner walked into the slightly chilly classroom his Slytherin uniform a little bit messier on him than it usually was due to his sleepy laziness. He had been really tired lately but failed to sleep well for some unknown reason. It was a mystery actually as he thought he would get better sleep when he would be more tired. It did not turn out to be like that though; he was all sleepy this morning and as if that was not enough he could feel the slight ache on his right shoulder, the shoulder he was carrying his school bag on.
For a moment, he stopped at the door and looked inside the classroom. Empty? That was weird. He supposed he could be late but it looked like lack of sleep brought him rather early to the classroom. Well...it was empty except the professor, of course. He rubbed his tired eyes a bit and walked inside. ''Morning, professor.'' Okay...now he realized that something was...weird with this classroom but he was too sleepy to sit and ponder about what it could be. The problem was...where he was going to sit?
Meh...
He just stood there, hands in pockets, and stared at the professor woman.

It was getting cold due to the nearing of Christmas and Kat hugged her books tight on her chest as she made her way to Defense Against the Dark Arts class. The Slytherin quietly wished she had worn a jacket or maybe her cloak. She'd settle for ANYTHING because Katrina Hudson was no teenager for cold. She knew she'd be experiencing more of it as the Quidditch match against the Puffers is just somewhere at the corner. The cold won't keep her down.
When she entered the room, there weren't a lot of students. The only ones she saw were Richard Turner and some Slytherin student she didn't know. Probably a fresh face... or a firstie. Mmm... she still had to know this one's name and WHY the kid didn't introduce herself during the Start of Term feast. Kat was there and she could tell this one wasn't BLIND to miss her.
Maybe that was enough of the thoughts. "Hello, Professor," Kat greeted Romanos and nodded at the Professor... also accompanied with a small smile. Yeah, she was battling the cold and keeping her cool self. The fifteen year old then took a seat on the stands because she DID NOT like the ground especially when it was cold season. Maybe sitting on the ground wasn't a smart idea for such temperature, no?

Zack was one of the first to enter the room with no table or chairs not that he was expecting them. It was always a good feeling to be one of the first people to enter the class cause he was never one of them. Now he could feel what's that like.
The room was cold giving him a feeling that the class would not be a comfortable one. He walked inside and took a place near one of the stands. He looked at the professor and smiled "Hello Professor. Good Morning" Hoping the professor didn't have any plans on freezing them in the lesson.

Defense Against the Dark Arts. That was one of Bliss' favourite lessons and it was only really beaten by Care of Magical Creatures and Ancient Runes, as they ... interested her more. It quite surprised her that she could that about Ancient Runes, but she could. Something about Runes intrigued her. Buuut, back to DADA, she thought and sped up to reach the door in time for class.
Didn't want to be late, nope.
She reached the door, swinging it open and froze mid-walk. She noticed two things straight away: one, she was one of the first to arrive to the class and that rarely happened and two, there was no where to sit other than the stands. Bliss took a tentative step forward, nothing that the ground wasn't quite ... solid. Huh. She quickly adjusted though and smiled brightly at the Professor. "Good morning, sir." BEAM. Right ... sitting down? The ground looked fine to her, so she sat herself down there and looked up and around, taking in the room and all the new details.
Mmh, this was comfy.

Rachel walked into the arena carrying her backpack, still sleepy. It was time for DADA again. Yay?
The girl looked around and saw a few of her classmates in there. She smiled shyly for them and turned to Professor Romanos.
- Hello Professor! - she said, trying to sound excited. It obviously didn't go as planned. She sounded extremely tired, and that was exactly how she was feeling at the moment. Tiredness.
She noticed a little difference on the floor, but couldn't identify what was it. Shaking her head to wake up, she chose a particular quiet place of the arena and sat on the floor, trying not to fall asleep.
Entering the room, Zoe looked around and headed towards the stands where a few others already were. The floor was kind of soft and squishy and she looked down at her feet. It wasn't like that last time! COOL! Bouncing a little with her steps she continued walking across towards the stands and found herself a seat and just looked around watching the other students enter the room. Quiet as usual...
After having had a satisfying meal, the redheaded Baltazar made her way to her next class: DADA. As she entered the classroom Peyton half expected to see professor Airey flat on the floor like last time, but he wasn't there.
Making her way more into the room she noticed something...different. More like felt. Looking down, Peyton tapped the ground with her foot. Odd. Very odd. Instead of voicing her concern, she made way to the stands, sat down and greeted the professor. "Hello, Professor Romanos," she beamed, then glanced at the ground. "I think there may be something wrong with your classroom ground. It's squishy," she said, actual worry written in her eyes.

Violet yawned a little bit as she had made her way towards today's lesson. Defense Against the Dark Arts. She stretched her arms high above her head for a moment, trying to wake herself up a little bit. Violet began wondering what today's lesson would involve today as she neared the entrance to the arena. She straightened her uniform and made sure that her hair; which was tied into a braid with a white ribbon interwoven into her hair; was alright. Violet then walked into the arena and felt a shiver run up her spine, noticing it was a tad bit chilly today.
Why was it so chilly in here? Her eyes then traveled over towards the slightly open windows and there was Violet's answer right there. She then knew better than to complain or whine, so she simply just wrapped her arms around herself as she made her way from the doorway. She walked up to Professor Romanos and bowed her head politely saying,"Good Morning Professor Romanos.." Violet smiled not long after and then turned on her heel to go and....fine somewhere to....sit?
Her violet eyes glanced around the arena and saw that her options were between, sitting on the stands...sitting on the ground...or simply standing. All of which didn't seem to great come to think of. She had seen that a couple of the few students already there, were doing each of these three things. And one of the students who were standing, with a slightly messy uniform, was someone that Violet recognized. OH! That was the boy who had witnessed Violet's unfortunate tumble in Muggle Studies not too long ago...Violet was still rather embarrassed about that unfortunate moment..although she's gone through worse; That Charms Seminar with....Ellsworth Touissant.. But anyways!
Violet figured that she wouldn't sit on the cold floor..or the stands for right now at least. So she made her way towards this boy who had watched her fumble in Muggle Studies. She stood beside him and said brightly,"Morning, mind if I stand here?"

Richard did not know how early he was to this class so had no idea how long he was going to stare at the professor in the empty classroom yet shortly it turned out that it was not going to be for so long as people started to walk in to the classroom starting with this firstie from his house. He eyed the others a bit as they walked in, observing the way they reacted to the chilly feeling in the classroom until he got bored and lost interest.
Back to staring at the professor.
Perhaps she was feeling hot or something so she opened all the windows. He was wondering what this class was going to be about just when he heard a voice close by. The voice did sound a bit familiar actually yet he was not sure if he was the one being spoken to until he turned and looked at the girl which happened the next instant. A broad smile appeared on his face when he recognized the Hufflepuff girl. ''Good morning!'' he replied as cheerful as his sleepy status let him be. ''Sure. Suit yourself.''

Alyssa happily walked into the DADA classroom and was surprised to see that the usual pillow mats and desks were gone from the room. She wrapped her arms around her. The room felt cold and when she first stepped on the floor, she quickly pulled her foot back. The floor felt squishy and soft. Alyssa tried to see whether the ground had been changed to grass or something wet. Shaking her head, she noticed Professor Romanos standing next to the stand, looking none the worse. She quickly walked up to her ignoring the strange of the ground and greeted her.
"Hello again, Professor Romanos. I guess we're not going to be doing any yoga today." Alyssa faked a disappointed face. "Can't wait to see what you're going to be teaching us today." Alyssa finished with a smile.
She was about to sit on the ground like they usually did, when she remembered that the ground had been changed. So she walked over to the stands and sat behind the Professor. Taking out her textbook she began reading while waiting for the class to start.
Sarah bounced in as usual. She liked defense against the dark arts, expecially now that they were covering dueling. That would be fun.. she wanted to use the bogey hex on someone. The air nipped her and only made her feel more energised. She was not the kind to be worried about cold in cold weather as her theory was mind over matter and just tough it. She just had to think that she was warm.
"Good day professor!" she called out cheerily, happy to be alive as usual. "are we going to duel yet...?" she asked

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
The fifteen year old noticed the cold first and shivered as she stepped through the doorway, frowning slightly. She wasn't a big fan of the cold. Nope. Next thing she noticed was the floor. Hmmm. It seemed a bit more um... spongy than it usually was. This part she didn't mind, not at all.
"Hello Professor Romanos, hope you're well!" The blonde greeted cheerfully as she passed the woman, a little spring in her step. Yeah she was totally past the cold thing now and eager to know what they would be doing, the floor having peaked her interest.
Spotting Bliss seated on the floor, Ella grinned and headed over in that direction. She plopped down next to her housemate and smiled. "Hey Bliss!" BEAM!

After bundling up the snake left the warm common room and the awesome fireplace and headed to class. Usually when the weather starts to become cold the classrooms are tended to be warm. So Cassia didn't put much layers under her robes. She used to but then figured it wasn't so necessary.
Not always...
The second Cassia stepped into the classroom she felt a shiver run through her body. Why was it cold. And where were the comfy pillows and mats. She walked further in inspecting the changes and the stands. This meant that today's lesson was going to be different. Cassia liked different. Walking over to the Professor, Cassia smiled at the woman. "Hi Professor," And now will be the woman's turn to call her Somerland. Unless she figured out the true name!!
Hearing someone saying that the floor was different, Cassia searched for the source of the voice and found that it was Peyton. To be sure the third-year felt the ground with her shoes. Squishy indeed. She walked over and sat down besides Peyton with a grin plastered on her face. "It's squishy indeed. And not just this is different." She pointed out. "Many stuffs are different." She said then remembered something. "Hi, by the way." Yup! Never forget to greet people. So not polite to just crash in! Though it was her dormmate whom she says everyday! So formalities weren't necessary.

She forgot what they did in the first lesson of the term...but only because she wanted to. It didn't have anything to do with her life flashing before her eyes or her trying something potentially dangerous. Despite that she could have still lived with it you know...if only it hadn't gotten all...not practical like. Yeah...that wasn't how Defense Against the Dark Arts was meant to go.
Lex strolled into the arena but stopped after getting just a few steps in. Something was a bit off...hmmm...
She took another two steps then stopped to pause again....
Hmmmm....
What was it...? Meh. Nothing she could think of grabbed her attention. Maybe she was just overthinking things. "Hello Professor!" BEAM. There were no mats. Could they still sit on the floor? She was gonna go ahead and do that and hope she wasn't corrected so she plopped down onto the floor.
....
Seriously...there was something different...
"Did the room get a paint job?" That had to be it.

Asher entered the arena, chilly and a different looking floor. It was soft and squishyish. Interesting, very interesting. The slytherin did like defense against the dark arts, it wasn't one of his best classes but this year he planned on changing that.
The slytherin walked by the professor "Good morning professor." He nodded and smiled as he walked over to two familiar blonde Hufflepuffs sitting on the floor. He grinned and waved at them "Hey Ella, Hey Bliss." He sat down with them if they didn't want him to sit with them they'd let him know right?

Violet smiled when the guy had graciously returned a very polite greeting in response to hers. Then he had added in...a wink? ...That was..random, but alright. She then said brightly,"Thank you very much!" Violet then looked around the classroom just curiously seeing who was there as she waited for the lesson to begin. Would they be dueling today? Who knew?
She then looked back at the familiar looking boy and then kindly offered her hand for a friendly shake. "My name's Violet by the way.." Not long after a polite smile had appeared upon her face. She then asked,"Do you any idea maybe why Professor Romanos has the windows open? Do you think it has something to do with today's lesson?" Violet looked back at Professor Romanos for a brief moment before traveling her eyes back towards the boy, whose name she still hadn't known yet.

Eliza stepped into the classroom expecting the somewhat comfortable atmosphere she had come to know, but upon entering not only did she not see any mats to plop down on - but she always saw that the windows were open.
"Hi Professor," she said with a nod, as she tried to figure out why on earth anyone would want a cold classroom. Doesn't she know it's winter?! A chilly blast of wind whipped through one of the open panes and sent shivers down the twelve year old's spine. She was freezing. Officially. Why doesn't every room have a fireplace and hot chocolate? This cold stuff has got to go. She looked around the room to see if anyone else's teeth were about to chatter. That, or I need to crawl back up the stairs to my bed and hide under the covers until spring comes. She walked over to the patch of students, hoping to soak up some residual body heat there. Nope. Scratch that. Don't wake me till summer.

Elodie was here, after waking up almost-late and finding Bliss already not in their dorm. Because she'd obviously gotten up on time and gone to class thinking Elodie had left already, when actually...she was just sleeping underneath her bed.
She didn't exactly FIND Bliss though, she could see her, but she didn't stay close or anything. Just observed other people and twisted some loose strands of hair back into her hair grip.

"Gooooood morning, Miss Fletcher." Better wake up soon!

Hello, quiet student whom Medea just noticed. A little more lively than some of the others it looked, bringing a smile to her face. Yes, that was the spirit! Today was going to be fuuuuun! Maybe.

Instead of voicing her concern, she made way to the stands, sat down and greeted the professor. "Hello, Professor Romanos," she beamed, then glanced at the ground. "I think there may be something wrong with your classroom ground. It's squishy," she said, actual worry written in her eyes.
Or was it meant to BE squishy? Hmmm...
"Good morning, Miss..." Oh? Eyebrows raising, as if she wasn't aware that their floor was 'squishy' as Peyton had put it, Medea looked down to the floor and hopped a little on it. Testing, testing! Well, what did ya know? Grinning, the professor turned her attention back to the Slytherin. "So it is. Good observation, Miss Baltazar."

With a glance to her watch, Medea tapped the glass cover upon it, before glancing up to see who else was walking in. They had plenty of time for those sleepy heads to arrive. "Hello, Miss Le Veela." The ration of older students to younger was turning out nicely as well.

Oh? Didn't get many of those faces when it came to having no yoga in the lesson, though Medea was pretty sure there was some excitement about it. "No, not today, Miss Potter." The professor smiled, crossing her arms to lock in the rest of the heat that she had. Class...couldn't start fast enough.

"Good day professor!" she called out cheerily, happy to be alive as usual. "are we going to duel yet...?" she asked
They did need a bit more cheer in the arena, thankfully brought by Sarah as she came in. "Good morning, Miss Edvards." And as curious as ever. "You'll see ven the lesson starts." With a wink to the Gryffindor third year, she started to move around near the stands again, hoping her limbs would warm up.

And this floor was totally comfy!
"Good morning, Miss Bishop. I'm doing fine, thank you." She smiled to the Hufflepuff fourth year, taking note of just who was actually here and who wasn't. And taking note of the time. Yup, still time for the sleepy heads and stragglers to arrive.

Nope, it was still Somerland to her.
"Good morning, Miss Somerland." Medea smiled to the girl before glancing to her watch.
Getting closeeeer!

....
Seriously...there was something different...
"Did the room get a paint job?" That had to be it.
The confused expressions, however momentary they were, was helping greatly with keeping up her energy. It was far too amusing to watch. "Hello, Miss Camrbidge." Medea smiled warmly to the girl, glancing around the arena in thought. "Not...that I know of, no. Why? Does it smell like it has?"
The open windows should fix that.

He grinned and waved at them "Hey Ella, Hey Bliss." He sat down with them if they didn't want him to sit with them they'd let him know right?
"Good day, Mister Romalotti." The professor nodded to the slytherin.

Oh dear, that wasn't his usual smile. "Good morning, Mister Greingoth." Smile or no smile, he showed up, and that's what matters!

"Hello Professor...Romanos," he said with a smile, checking his schedule really quickly from his pocket to be sure he had the correct professor. He extended a hand for a shake. "Nolan Reynolds, Board of Governors candidate. Do you mind if I sit in on this lesson?" he asked politely.
Did she even really have a choice or...?
Since they'd had a guest during their last lesson, more than one actually, Medea shouldn't have been so surprised to see another come into the class. Though, granted, this one was different. "Hello, Mister Reynolds." Medea smiled as she unhooked her arms from one another, reaching out to shake the man's hands. Another candidate! "Oh, I don't mind at all. Please do. I'm sorry for the chill in here, though. It's...part of the lesson."

"Good day, Miss Dawnsel." Just a bit longer and they can start the lesson!

Could they start now?
Oh these quiet students, Medea had to search them out to take note that they were there. A quick glance to her watch though and they definitely still had time for others to arrive. Goodness, what cold did to one's sense of time.
