Tower Patch At the top of the north tower, in a niche some ways down from the Astronomy classroom the caretaker has cleared an area and set up a small garden patch. The patch consists of three neat rows of growing fruit and vegetable plants. There are a few benches faced looking out over the patch and also a small box of garden tools to aid those willing to yank out some weed or water the tomato plant. Mrs Burbage has acquired an interest in gardening after her retirement which by no means can rival the expert knowledge of Professor Bentley. Headmistress Anastasia Bunbury was kind enough to allow her a little space to yank weeds or watch things grow when she isn’t studying the heavens or planning the next astronomy lesson. |
Annie huffed and puffed and made her way up to the Astronomy tower, waiting for her heart rate to lower before she made her way out to Marion's little garden area. She smoothed out the red skirt of her dress and knocked on the door the led out to the garden patch. Not hearing any response, Annie decided to just go ahead and peek outside. "Marion?" She called out quietly at first, feeling nervous to be up so high without her lucky brooch on. But, well, that was part of why she was here... "Professor Burrrrrbaaaaage?" |
After spending the entire morning planning for her next lesson, Marion found herself sitting on one of the few benches in the garden area. She smiled and leaned back against the bench. Yes, this was relaxing.. and she heard someone calling out her name. She brushed a few strands of stray hair from her face and stood up, a frown settled between her brows. Marion was not expecting anyone.. Was she? She started to move towards the door when she spotted a familiar face poking out the half-open door. The frown on her face gave in to an expression of surprise and delight. “Hello, darling!” |
Oh good, she was here and looked happy to see her to boot. "Hello, Marion dear." Annie stepped around the door fully and carefully clicked over to where the older woman was standing, finding herself holding her arms open for a rare hug. Don't judge. She needed one. "How ARE you?!" |
"I am wooooonderful, thank you dear." Marion beamed, giving Annie a huge hug. It seemed like the Headmistress needed one and Marion liked giving people hugs. Especially people that she liked. She pulled away, holding the Headmistress at arms length. "How are you, daaaaaarling?" Marion continued to smile although she did wonder why Annie suddenly decided to pay her a visit. She hoped everything was okay.. |

She hugged her back and gave a big smile when held at length. "I'm...... hanging in there." Despite the whole MIA brooch thing. The redhead's eyes briefly darted around the tower as if it would have SOMEHOW gotten all the way up here... but no luck. "Are your classes behaving all right? Any students I need to talk to.... or suspend?" Her smile was actually real at mention of suspension. Annie was finding that she quite liked having that power. |

She seemed to be ready to break down and cry any minute and Marion was clueless as to why, Annie had always been so together and full of confidence. If it helped she could babble on about her classes until Annie spilled out what was really bugging her. "All the students are loveeeeeely. They really enjoyed making rocket’s just as much as I did. And some of them even amused me, especially young master Wilde. He knows how to bright up a senior lady’s morning." "But no, no student’s you’d need to suspend or talk to." Marion stated. Why on earth would Annie think of such a rash action, students just needed some guidance not suspensioooooooon. |

Annie smiled kindly nonetheless, resting her hands in her lap. "Well that's good to hear. I know they can sometimes be bratty toward the newer staff members..." Not that Marion didn't have the necessary experience or anything.... "How are your plants doing?" the redhead changed the subject to something she was more fond of discussing. "They appear to be blooming right along!" |

Resting her hands in her lap contentedly Marion gazed out over the rows of blossoming plants with warmth. "The plants are blooming just like the students are thriving and finding their ways in life. Those I've met in classes just want to see that you respect them and thus they test you. It’s nothing new." She took such things with stride in her senior age and besides it wasn’t anything to get worked up over. Giving Annie a long look Marion observed. "My plants are lovely but you Annie dahling look like a plant in desperate need of water. What’s eating you up love, you know you can talk to me about anything." |

She smiled as Marion talked about the plants the way she, too, talked about her plants. "I'm glad you're doing all right, then. I won't have to worry about you and neither will Henry." She patted her hand fondly. As for Annie... well, she wasn't in nearly as content a state as her old friend. "I ah," she bit her lip, "I've had a rough term, Marion! It's just been one thing after the other. First the train, then my brooch goes missing, then all these ghosts pop up..." She shook her head, surprised to feel her own eyes watering up. "It's hard being away from home too." Oh how she missed her boys! |
