The Stone Gargoyles At the very bottom of the Headmistress' spiraling staircase sits two stone gargoyles. The ugly but enormous stone statues keep out those who do not belong.... or those who are not welcome. |
Her guilt now turning into determination, Sutton strode through the halls quickly, with a purpose. The sooner they got all of this over with, the sooner everyone could just be happy again. As she approached the stone gargoyles outside of the Headmisstress's Office, Sutton slowed. Looking to Laura, she asked, "Err... I don't suppose you know the password...? |
Quote:
Laura suddenly stopped. "I don't know the password either." Laura looked at the Gargoyles. "OPEN SAYS ME!!" Laura smiled, well it was worth a go wasn't it, she had been told to get the Headmistress and she was going to do what she was told. "What are we going to do?" |
hey look, I DO have time now! ;) Quote:

"Hello, girls," she greeted them calmly. Wait, they weren't the same ones who'd caused all that fuss in the Entrance Hall, were they....? "Need something?" |

Except not cameras because those wouldn't work at Hogwarts. She figured it must be some magic thing that she didn't understand. Or maybe it WAS just a coincidence. Either way, they had come here for a reason, and so Sutton spoke up, wanting to get back and make sure Alyssa was okay now. "Yes, Headmistress. Professor Hadley sent us up here to get you. She's in the Hufflepuff Girls' Dorms because there's something wrong with Alyssa... She's really upset... Alyssa, I mean, not Professor Hadley..." Sutton explained awkwardly, her shyness increasing the more she talked. When she finally trailed off, she looked away from the Headmistress, feeling rather silly for being so... inefficient at communicating clearly. |

She took a moment to blink and collect herself once they'd both quieted, then nodded toward both of them. "Right, well, you go get the elves, and I'll go see what's wrong with this Alyssa." She swept off toward the stairs, knowing quite well where the Hufflepuff common room was, and didn't bother to look back to see if the girls had followed directions. They'd all end up in more or less the same place, after all. |
Laura smiled at the Headmistress. "Okay then." Laura said and then she watched as the Headmistress set off towards the Hufflepuff Common Room, turning to the other girl that was there, she smiled. "Right we should head off towards the Kitchen." Laura suggested, she hadn't seen that many house elves before and now hopefully she'd get to speak to one. |
Presley needed to talk to the headmistress as her next step in fixing the whole mess she'd gotten herself into this past year. She had skipped Hogsmeade to come talk to the lady she'd never met. She more more nervous than she had been talking to Tate. Mostly because she'd visited Tate so many times that she was used to it, and she could easily predict his reactions. She didn't know what this Truebridge woman would say. She stepped up to the Gargoyles, and leaned against the wall next to them, waiting to be let inside. |
Walnut said he is too lazy to come *sigh* This was not meant to be a long visit, in fact the Headmistress could probably just answer her question right here in front of the gargoyles instead of up in her office if she was too busy. Checking that her robes were in order, Kurumi approached the gargoyles and wondered if the whole rubbing of the bellies while saying Buddha over and over again was still in effect. Or had that just been professors mildly losing their minds that term? Speaking of which...she should go see if her shoe was still stuck to the floor there. Hmmm. |
post-Flynn-office-stuff-but-pre-kitchen-stuff...yeah Annie emerged from the spiral staircase with a swish of her hair and a swing of her handbag, seeming surprised to see all the students waiting for her. What could they all possibly need?? Quote:
Snazzy outfit, really, for a little girl... Anastasia's eyes naturally flicked over her from head to toe. She was lucky she was here on the weekend, or she'd be losing house points for being out of uniform... even if the outfit WAS a cute one. Quote:
Annie's eyes flicked up and down her person as if in search of cookies. |
*snort* it's stiiiiiiiiiill missing *eyes* Quote:
..... Awkward. "Good day, Headmistress," Kurumi said, trying to ignore the weird looks for now. "I actually just wanted to ask you a question. Professor Newlin said you might know the answer." |
nuh uh!!! *points to the hat* Quote:
"Good day," she replied to the girl, much more cheerful now that she'd been treated like a queen and all. Though, come to think of it, since this House Elf child was a girl, she should really be curtsying. "Oh did she? And what was the question?" Newlin wasn't telling the children it was okay to eat worms and wear denim to the feast, was she? |

This Hogwarts was a lot different than the Hogwarts of Presley's third year. Before she'd gone to Beauxbatons last year. Everything seemed to have changed. Even the Astronomy professor was different, and Presley hated the new one. But that wasn't why she was here. Trying her very best to act the way she was raised, and not let on to the woman how really nervous she was Presley looked her right in the eye, but not in a challenging way, more in an assertive way. Jacob would be proud. "Yes. If you have a minute, may I speak with you?" She did need something. Something more than a look of possible distaste at the outfit Presley had adored when she put it on that morning, but now would be tossing in the garbage as soon as she took it off. |
*squuuuuuuuints* how am I supposed to see something so tiiiiiiiiiiny o____O Quote:
"In class we were studying fire crabs whose shells can contain such precious gems as rubies, sapphires, and emeralds," she began, giving a bit of some back story to her question. "The hour glasses that keep track of the house points contain these gems as well, and I was just wondering if some of them came from fire crabs...or if not where they did come from." Cue a raised eyebrow of concern from the Headmistress now? Possibly? |
it fiiiiiiits the haaaaaaat HMMPH! Quote:
"Sure. I have a minute now. Go ahead." She had to resist looking at her watch. Quote:
"I don't think they do, Kurumi," she answered flatly, "but I can't tell you for certain where they came from or when they were replaced; however, my common sense tells me that it would be far less expensive and damaging to the environment to harvest the gems in the hourglasses from a mine, for example, rather than from a firecrab." She gave the girl a look that said really? "If you'd like a more precise answer, I'd recommend doing some research in the library. Will that be all?" She should have just bidden the girl good day.... |
pfft XD Quote:
Still, Kurumi managed a polite nod and tried not to get flustered and overly uncomfortable by the LOOK the woman was giving her. Don't hex the messenger? "Right, of course," Kurumi nodded. "I'll go ask Mr. Kitridge if he has any suggestions as to where to look." Besides Hogwarts, A History that is. Kurumi had read that cover to cover, no such luck. "I'm sorry for taking up your time, Headmistress." She would have said thank you, but the look...yeah...that was not a good look. |

"I don't know if Tate told you, Headmistress, but he and I had discussed internships. He told me that he would look into a few for me, and I was wondering if maybe he'd left a file?" If Presley was to become the top Healer in the world, she had to start early. She had to start learning now. She'd read every medical book on file in Hogwarts Library and at Flourish and Blotts. She'd even searched the third hand book store in Diagon Alley. It was time to move on and get real instruction from real healers. She crossed her fingers behind her back. Please Tate she silently begged please have been a good enough Headmaster to have left a file for me. |

Quote:
"I might look for your file," she added as an afterthought, "but if I were in your shoes, and if I were the one wanting an internship to kick-start my career, I would be the one doing the legwork that involves looking into places that offer internships. But that's just me." She stared down the girl, all traces of patience gone, and waited for her name. |
Quote:
"I'm so sorry. My name is Presley Black." Second time apologizing in this conversation? This was bad. Maybe she should transfer back to Beauxbatons where nobody would know anything about this incredibly terrible conversation. "Yes, ma'am, I have looked into a few. Professor Tate and I researched some together. The thing is, Ma'am, most require a Head reccomendation before I can apply for them. Mr. Tate had a folder full of some of them?" And now she sounded like she was asking a question. This just kept getting better and better. If she thought it would hellp, Presley would just say nevermind to the whole thing and walk away right this second. But that would just make this whole situation even worse. |
Even the Headmistress' area was not immune to Myrtle's problem-making: Quote:

Suspended. Of all the punishments she could have gone and gotten herself Alexa chose to get suspended. Merlin, he still didn't know what to make of it. What could she have possibly done that was so bad? Everytime he tried asking she just started whining and crying and avoiding the subject. Of course, he never pushed it because he didn't like seeing her upset. Approaching the stone gargoyles that stood just outside the office he peered behind him and saw his princess trailing behind slowly with that kneazle of hers tucked in her arms. "Lex, maybe you should cage him until the end of the meeting." He suggested...but not too harshly; no need to upset her. The poor girl was probably already upset about everything else that was happening. Alexa looked up at her father with crinkled brows. "But Daddy, I don't WANT to put him in his cage. You know he doesn't like it in there." SCOWL. Why was he bothering her when she was upset. "Hmm...well okay...but make sure he behaves." If she didn't want to then he wouldn't push it. "I will." She muttered before shifting her gaze to the door. She hadn't actually used this entrance to the Office before...not that she would mention that to her father. He didn't know exactly what had led to the suspension, she kinda told a very convenient version of the story that left out most things...come to think of it...he didn't know anything that she did--and she didn't plan to tell him! |
omg I already had this ALL TYPED UP and then my browser crashed. <_< Quote:
"Yes, of course you'll be needing a strong recommendation, Presley... of course. Let me look for those files and I'll get back to you later this week, hmm?" She would have added something else were it not for the untimely interruption of.... Quote:
"Myrtle," she breathed, hastily turning away from Presley and stalking off down the corridor. "MYRTLE!" No, wait, she didn't want to be calling the damn ghost; she wanted to call the CARETAKER to come TAKE CARE of her! It! Whatever! "FLYNN! FLYNN! Get this ghost OUT OF THE CLASSROOM!!!!!!" Quote:
"Alexa," she greeted the girl coldly, her eyes flicking to the girl's cat and then up to her dad's face, "and Mr. Cambridge. I was expecting you," she lied, having completely forgotten about their appointment, "but I'm afraid the kneazle is NOT invited to this meeting. All pets are to remain in the common rooms or dormitories at all times, Alexa, you know that." She turned on her heel and led the way back past Presly, and straight to the stone gargoyles, which parted like the Red Sea. "Mr. Cambridge, you may head upstairs. I'll be right behind you. Alexa, however, may return once she has put her cat away, or sent it home." Annie gestured for the father to step onto the revolving staircase. |
She's promised to be GOOD! Quote:
His eyes darted to the kneazle for a moment before resting on the headmistress again. "Right. I tried telling her that." Then he turned to Alexa. "You see darling? Felix has to stay in his cage until it's over...but don't get upset, he'll be fine for a little bit." Yeah he was trying to appease his daughter while getting her to comply. Was that a problem? No? Okay. And with that he stepped on the spiral staircase. Alexa had to fight the pout that was forming on her face. Barely back and the woman was already being mean...SIGH. But she had promised to be good. She had to be good for this to work so with a lot of reluctance she slipped Felix into his cage and bolted the lock. If he died from being locked up too long she would never forgive either of them. Her gaze rested on the woman again. Happy now? |
next post in my office, if you pleeeeeeease :) Quote:
"Right. He stays down here. Now, after you." She would not trust Alexa Cambridge to stand behind her on an escalator-staircase and NOT do something horrible. |
