graphics by sweetpinkpixie The official home of the Lions, the Gryffindor common room, is found on the seventh floor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The entrance to the common room is the portrait of the delightful Fat Lady, and in order to gain entrance to their home away from home, Lions must know the password and speak it to her.
This terms password is ‘Hic Abundant Leones’.
Be sure to remember those words...and keep it a close secret, for it's the current password you'll need to speak in order for the Fat Lady to swing away from the hole and allow you to enter Gryffindor Tower. Once you're lucky enough to scramble through, you'll find that the common room is a circular area full of squashy armchairs and tables. To the side of the common room you will find the study tables and bookshelves equipped with all that you could need in order to complete your homework assignments, as well as the noticeboard for classes and other school announcements.
A window looks out onto the grounds of the school, and a large fireplace takes up one side of the wall. It's the perfect place to relax and hang out after a long day of classes. You are likely to find the latest edition of the Gryffindor Gazette on the central tables just waiting to be read. It’s always good to stay informed with your house and school news.
If however you are in need of a nap a good night's rest then there are two doors leading off from the common room that open to spiral staircases. Boys dormitories are upstairs and to the right, while girls dormitories are upstairs and to the left. Be sure you don’t go breaking any of the rules by attempting to go up the wrong staircases. Boys don’t stand a chance of beating the enchanted staircase, and frankly girls should know better.
For whatever reason you're here, make sure you take good care of your home away from home. There's bound to be a perfect or your Head of House lurking in the shadows.

It happened so suddenly, and quietly, but it happened all the same: everyone in the Common Room, whether they had been lounging there for hours or had just walked in the door, was suddenly evicted.
An unseen force repelled all Gryffindor students from their Common Room and attached areas. The same force locked all entrances and exits to the rooms with one resounding, echoing, ominous CLICK.
The Common Room was officially locked and sealed to all.

Melanie flopped onto one of the armchairs so grateful to be back there. It was like the perfect place to be after being in the Great Hall... sleeping in the Great Hall. Given, it had been a while... but Melanie was still reuniting with the Common Room and the dormitories. She had actually been avoiding her room as much as possible. For the time being while she decided what to do with her numerous teddy bears sitting by her bed. What was she supposed to do with them when they were all dead. The girl let out a long sigh and just sat there, unsure of what to do.
The chair was really comfortable though so she was pretty sure she could sit here for a while.

If the common room was quiet, one might've been able to hear a faint scream from the boy's dormitory. Seconds later, the sound of hurried footsteps came from the stairs. After another moment, Jake ran into the common room. A look of horror was on his face and his hands were clasped in front of him, holding something.
He looked around frantically, but when he didn't see who he was looking for... he completely deflated. His horror was gone, to be replaced with pure sadness. Dropping his gaze to his hands, he made his way to a couch and sat down without bothering to see if anyone was next to him. Very slowly, he opened his hands to see the broken eggshell in them - the shattered remains of Eggbert.

Oh it felt good to be back in the comforts of the Gryffindor Common Room. Camping out in the Great Hall was just too crazy and not to mention more work for the various prefects who had to keep an eye on their housemates amongst the other three houses. But no more...the spell, or whatever had been placed by Isfret had been removed by the headmistress and the professors assisting her and they were allowed back in their respective homes away from home.
Not that it would be his for much longer.
Sigh. So much for keeping a good mood for long. Gideon was trying his best to be more happy for his upcoming graduation then not and it worked for the most part. However there was indeed stuff that he would certainly miss and the camaraderie of his house and the comforts of Gryffindor Tower was one of them. Giving the password to the Fat Lady's portrait, the seventh year stepped inside once he was allowed passage, walking down the short walkway that opened up to the circular room.
A smile graced his face as he looked around. Home sweet home...for now. | |

Ronnie made her way back into the common room carrying Oliver, a glum look on her face. Sure, it was nice to be back but still...that had been super exciting earlier with the scary stories and all. But now everything was all better. *sigh* That had been quite an exciting night...she hoped something like that would happen again. It was like some awesome adventure!
Ronnie plopped onto one of the chairs by the fire and watched as Oliver curled up in her lap and began to purr. He seemed pretty happy to be back. She sighed and began to stroke him.

And it was even nicer being able to see her cat, Spot, again. Penelope had missed her a lot, and the cat had clearly missed her just as much. Every time she came into the common room now, the little cat came bounding towards her for Penelope to pick her up, and then she'd climb up onto her shoulder and perch there for as long as she possibly could, always resisting slightly when Penelope would pick her up again and set her on the ground whenever she had to leave the common room again or lay down in her dorm bed.
Now it was the same. Penelope gave the password to the Fat Lady and headed into the common room, and Spot appeared in front of her almost immediately. She scooped the little cat up and set her on her shoulder as she looked around the common room, wondering if there was anyone to talk to. She quickly spotted Jake and decided he would be good to talk to for a bit, so she made her way over and took the seat next to him, focusing more on sitting down carefully so that she didn't jostle Spot too much and have her claws dig into her.
"Hey, Jake."

He hadn't thought much about Eggbert's future after grieving. Of course, they couldn't just keep him around. And they couldn't just throw him away, either. That was like... disrespecting the dead. So that left one real solution.
"...We bury him?" That's what you did in these situations. They could put the shells in his box and bury the box... have a proper funeral for the poor thing. | |
