No yoga?!

YESSSS! No yoga meant that it was more likely that they'd do something as epic as the last class. Now she was happy. No matter what the lesson entailed, she'd be quite happy about it.

Reaching forward, as the Professor instructed she began the stretch. Slinking down, her hands made their way to her ankles leaving her face pressed to her knees. Thank merlin her father insisted she do Gymnastics as a creative outlet for her energy when she was younger. She fidgeted a bit in this new position, but not because it was uncomfortable, simply because she couldn't see what was going on in the room any more.

She shot up at the Professor's question. "Oh I know!" She said, her hand already in the air. "Those are the things with only one leg aren't they?" When Will told her about them she thought he was lying but then she asked her father and he confirmed that something got cheated by nature; only one leg, what a terrible deal!

Hmm. Kendall was intrigued by what Professor Romanos had said once the lesson had started. No yoga, but they were still stretching their legs. Of course, they also were still obviously not climbing the walls, but at least that meant there might not be any weird cracking noises either. Because stretching wasn't quite as scary as yoga was, in that respect. Plus, she was pretty flexible anyway since she was a ninja. Not that anyone other than Patrick knew that. Either way, she straightened her legs out in front of herself, keeping her toes pointed upward as she leaned forward to hook her fingertips around them. Okay, maybe I'm not asflexible as the professor is, she thought, tilting her head so she could watch the woman. And she blinked at the question.

Carefully unhooking one hand, she riased it slightly. Just in case. "Professor? Hinkypunks are dark creatures that like to lead people off into bogs and stuff until they get lost," she offered. It was really awkward trying to answer while staying all folded up like this. Maybe yoga was better.

No yoga?

Kurumi wasn't sure if she was happy or disappointed by this development of not doing yoga. This entire term had just been out of routine and this was just another small reminder of that. No yoga...interesting.

More to create her own routine, Kurumi sat down on her mat and began to stretch her limbs, pushing her legs out straight and leaning forward a bit, as Professor Romanos began the lesson...and her hand went up right away. "They are a dark creature that appears to be made of smoke but will turn solid when Lumos Duo is cast on it," she answered, keeping things brief.

Laura smiled at the Professor as she tried to do what she was told, see Professor Romanos she could do what she was told when she wanted too, it wasn't like she didn't know how. "eh well Professor they do have a funny name." Laura smiled, that was all she knew about them.

"I've been okay. Still curious about everything that's going on, but classes have kept me busy. You?" Eliza whispered back to Ethan. She glanced over at the girl next to him. Did she change her hair? "Yeah, I think we were grouped up for Muggle Studies."

She stretched her legs out and reached as far as she could. She made it to about her ankles, but she thought she might be able to go farther once she was warmed up. She leaned her head forward to she could see the girl next to Ethan and said, "Hi again!" cheerfully.

She pushed a little further, urging her fingers to go further. Hinkypunks?
"Well, I know they only have one leg," she offered to the professor.

Right...to stretch.

Gideon unfolded his long legs as Professor Medea started the class off, stretching them out in front of him on the mat as instructed. Then bending in half, he tried to get his arms as far out towards his toes as he could while thinking on the question and topic at hand. He listened to a few answers given by other students before finally speaking up himself. "They are translucent with big white eyes. Their shape is kinda thick and wormlike with three limbs stemming from its body, a leg and two arms." Altogether not the most appealing creature to see.

Medea nodded as they started talking about the actions of hinkypunks, rather pleased that someone stated they were indeed dark creatures. Was rather an important note for this class. "Correct. They also have a knack for throwing fireballs at their victims from their lamps." she nodded somewhat, considering it was a little hard to do so bent over like this. "Good."



Onto how the hinkypunks looked, Medea nodded a little again, looking to each student as they spoke. She chuckled quietly when Laura commented on their name. "Yes, it is funny, isn't it?" she smiled.


Sitting up, she stretched her muscles a little before standing up. "Up on your feet." Waiting for them to do so, eyeing any of the stragglers who think they could get out of it, she lifted one foot and held onto it behind her, pulling it in. "Going to be stretching our quads."

Another pause before she continued. "So, funny looking dark creatures, like to lure travelers into bogs. Taking in mind on what they have been made to do, which do you think would be the more important limb? If choosing between their arms or one leg, that is."

Hopping up she quickly tried mimicking the next stretch. Lex lifted her right leg and pulled it behind her. This was a bit more tricky because she seemed to be having balancing issues at the moment. At the start she was a bit wobbly but she worked it out eventually and was able to focus on the Professor again.

Hmmmm...which would be more important? Well it'd probably be the leg wouldn't it? They only had one and if they lost that one they wouldn't be able to move around...talk about being ripped off by nature on a major scale. But then again...

"I think the arms would be more important to them since they like holding those lamp things and getting people lost and throwing fireballs at them...without their legs they could just sit on their bums all day and point in the wrong direction but without their arms they'd only be able to hop around on that one leg and be bored all the time." That's how she saw it. As much as she liked legs the arms were more important this time around.

Standing up now, Kurumi reached for one of her legs to stretch it when...woah...wait a second. Looking down at herself - and being reminded of a flamingo for the time being - Kurumi ventured a nervous glance at the professor. Hinkypunks losing a limb...them stretching like they were now...which would be harder, losing an arm or a leg? swimming around in their heads.

....

They were temporarily losing a limb this lesson, weren't they? The finger stuff from last time had just been a warm up.

Shaking her head, Kurumi tried to focus on the question...which was sort of a chicken and the egg sort of analogy in the Gryffindor's mind. Without their arms they couldn't really hold the lantern that was what drew their victim's attention that then allowed them to lure said victim to their bog...but without their leg they couldn't move once they had attracted the attention of the victim.

Hmmm...

Thinking a bit more, holding the lamp seemed to be the more menacing feature of hinkypunks - shooting fireballs included - so that was what Kurumi decided to go with. "I think their arms," Kurumi said after raising her hand. "Without the ability to hold their lanterns, they can't entice travelers nor can they throw fireballs."

Oichi really found thestretching part of the lesson quite odd. As she got up and put her leg up and held it. It felt uncomfortable and her face showed that. She soon heard a question and raised her other hand and lost balance and was hopping for a moment and then decided to just put her leg down and answered, "I think the hinkypunk's arms would be it's most important limb because the could not hold a light to catch the attention to travelers and point them in the wrong direction toward a bog. They may even be able to crawl in a way without their foot. With just the foot they will be hopping and have no way to get travelers attention to get them to go im the wrong direction into a bog. Their whole reason for being would being would be moot without their arms.". Once she finished answering she go back in the postion with her leg held behind her and did her best to stay stable.

No yoga? Well, that was definitely a plus. She wouldn't be truly happy until there were no purple mats, but this was the last DADA lesson of the term so she could just make it work. She listened as the professor said that they had to stretch. Ugh! Stretching was better than being in some weird position so she would take it.

She put her legs out in front of her and reached towards her toes. Wow! She could feel the burning in her legs. Maybe this wasn't much better. What did all that yoga do for her then huh? She tried to focus on the question that the professor asked instead of the burning sensation. "Hinkypunks are devious and tricky little creatures." Well everybody had already said all of the good stuff!


Now she had to decide what limb would be better for them? In a perfect world I am sure that they would prefer to haver all of their limbs. Still logically it would make sense for the arm to be the limb that they couldn't live without considering they threw fireballs and held lamps and stuff. "I agree with those who said the arm." It made sense didn't it?

Vivi streeeeeeeeetched out as she considered the topic (and considered how grateful she was they weren't doing yoga). She was nowhere near the Head Girl this time, but she still hoped to avoid falling on anyone else. Or losing a shoe. Any of that.

"I would think that if we've already identified the creature and recognize the danger, the best thing would be to take out the hinkypunk's leg so it is incapable of following or approaching. The creature is probably easier to handle if stationary." In her opinion, at least.

Anya half heartedly placed her hands on her legs. She'd just pretend that was a stretch. Hinkypunks? Those were the magical name for Will-o'-the-wisp, right?

She then got up when instructed. She casually held one foot up. ...stretching. ...woo?

She lifted her opposite hand up. "I'd say... the leg." she offered. "What good is luring someone to a bog with a bouncy light if you can't bounce... or even get to a bog."

And just because she knew someone would address the fireball thing...

"And it really wouldn't matter that they can still throw fireballs... because... if someone was, for some reason, enticed by a stationary light... they can still easily get away before they get trapped."

That made sense, right?

Uggh, Hinkypucks were such boring little things. They were awfully annoying with those stupid lamps of theirs...which led Alex nicely right in to the professor's question. He raised his hand.

"I'd say the arms, specifically the one holding the lamp," he explained. "Because that's their main weapon of attack, so it would make sense to take that out first."

Ella smiled a little, happy to hear her answer was correct. She got up when instructed to, beginning the next stretch with a small smile. Who was she kidding? Not doing yoga had put her in a wonderful mood.

As for the question being asked, Ella considered it for a little while. "Professor? I agree that the arms are important because of the lamp aspect but without the leg, the Hinkypunk couldn't exactly lead the traveler anywhere either, yeah? I mean...it has to move itself to get to the bog. Doesn't the leg kind of do that job?" And she shrugged, hoping that made sense. Things always sounded so much better in her head...

Minerva put her legs in front of her like the professor had said to do. Stretching out to try and touch her toes and stretch her legs she put her hand up. "Professors Hinkypunks are creatures that are formed from wispy grey and blue smoke." That's about all she knew about hinkypunks so she went back to stretching and listening to the others.

[Spoiler= Question 2] Minerva got to her feet and gained her balance on one leg. She pulled her left leg up behind her and pulled it close to her. She kept her balance the best she could while listening to the next question. Losing her balance she dropped her foot and then tried again regaining her balance.

Thinking about what the professor asked Minerva put her hand up again, "Well professor I think their arms would be more important." Yes get their little arms and then they could be a bit safer, well that's what she thought anyway.

At first, Sierra just blinked at the professor. What had she just said? Er... Sierra was starting to feel like she was getting lost in the discussion when she started picking up on what the others were saying. Oh...OH! She was asking which was more important--the Hinkypunks arms or its legs?

Sierra raised her hand. "I agree that the arms are the most important limb," she said. "A Hinkypunk uses its arms to hold the lamp and to shoot the fireballs, so...why wouldn't it be the most important?" What good was that leg anyway? With only one of them, it probably took them forever to lure people into bogs.

Getting up, Elise tried not to look worried when she saw what Professor Romanos was doing. That leg stretch thing? Elise shuddered at the thought. Maybe there was something worse than the boat position after all. Closing her eyes for a moment, Elise tried to focus.

Grabbing her ankle, Elise turned her leg until it was arched behind her in what seemed to her like a scorpion. Wobbling very dangerously, Elise hopped around in an attempt to keep her leg in the air, but it was futile. Her leg was just a little too heavy for her arm, and she wasn't used to it yet. So she released her grip on her ankle and glared at her fingers. Boo.

Oooh. Question. "I think it'd be their leg, because they have two arms, but only one leg. And they need to transport themselves somehow." Elise said, trying to visualize the creature without its leg.

And then she grabbed her ankle again. Perhaps this time it'd be able to stay in the air longer? Hop. Hop. Hop. She felt like a rabbit with its leg awkwardly stretched behind it.

SNORT. Of course Kat had enough sleep, you little child. "Yes I had enough sleep, thank you very much," Kat said sternly. It was better to speak like that rather than to consider biting Alexa's head off to shut up. In fact, Kat seemed to have considered it but she's in need of house points for her House. Slytherin's falling below Ravenclaw AND Hufflepuff. What the firebolt?!

Eyeing the other students, Kat knew the class was about to start soon. "I suggest we hush now," she said. But if Alexa wanted to keep blabbing and talking then Kat wouldn't mind if it lost Gryffindor a few points. Heh, being mean. "I think class is going to start in a while."



NO YOGA. PRAISE YOU, MERLIN. The last time, when Kat had to DO yoga for this class she hated it ever since. But hated it even more. Kat was so relieved there would be no yoga for today, or the rest of this lesson. She hated it, to be honest. Stretching, though, it would be easy. Kat bent forward and... STREEEEEEEEETCH. Wiiiiw. It was easy as pie for her, since she can stretch as far as her toes. Yep, so much practice paid off.

Now, the lesson proper. A hinkypunk. The name itself made Kat think of someone awesome because of the word 'punk' in it. "I heard that if you cast Lumos Duo on a hinkypunk, it freezes solid." Weak, it sounded weak. Kat hates the weak. But... I guess being emotional doesn't count on being weak...?



Another position? Whatever it was called, Kat just imitated the DADA professor. Well, at least it was STILL stretching. And what was all this stretching important for anyway? Oh wells. Debate on the arms and legs of the hinkypunk... This was something hard for Kat to decide on. "Professor, I think both the arm and leg are both as equally important because they have their own use that cannot be the same with the other," Kat said. It was a valid reason to choose both. She didn't want to choose. Perhaps the arm, she'd say but the arm cannot replace its leg and vice versa.

Stretching. That wasn't so bad now. He stretched his feet out and easily touched his toes. He knew this would be easy for him as he did this before going on morning jogs with his dad.

To the question. "They seem to be made of white or gray smoke, Professor,'' he said.

So there he was stretching and reaching for his feet-- which he manged to do with some effort as he didnt want to bend his knees, just listening to other people talk about Hinkypunks. At the Professor's next prompting he stood and started to stretch his quads. Now what was more important? "I'd go with that one leg Professor.... it is its sole means of mobility, and although holding that lamp is important for its MO, the main purpose of a Hinkypunk is to lure travelers away from their path and into a trap. If for whatever reason it looses its arms and unable to hold a lamp it could very well use its head or mouth as an alternative."

Laura did what the Professor said and then she listen to the question which was a hard one, she was trying to figure out what she would think would be the most important thing. "That's a tough one Professor Romanos." Laura smiled. "But I would have to say that the leg was the most important thing." Laura had come to that conclusion in the end, it had taken her awhile though to get to that point.

Tiffany stretched her legs slowly, trying not to over do it so that they wouldn't get sore the day after. Then she paid attention to what the professor had asked. It was actually a bit hard for her to listen and do the stretching at the same time.

"Of course it would be t-their arms..."she replied and tried to focus. "they still have to carry their lamps with their arms instead of their legs right? To lure travelers..." Enough, she would just stop the stretching right now. It was driving her crazy because she was really not so good at multi-tasking.

Louisa was streeeetching, on the floor with her legs extended before her and then her fingers trying to touch her toes but ending up on her shins. A few more tries before she hopped on her feet, feeling the needles in them already. She wiggled them a few times before taking the position and holding her foot and pulling it gently and slowly like the professor was demonstrating. Her legs were starting to burn already, ugh.

"I go with the leg being the most important too, professor." She managed to speak after a few minutes. "Their main danger lies in them luring the travelers into their bogs, and their sole mean of doing that is that only leg." Puuuull.

It was about fifty-fifty with their answers, just a few deciding that all of their limbs were rather important. "They both certainly do have their uses for them, don't they?" she asked rhetorically. They heard everyone's answers. No need to comment on this question. "In this particular case though, their is no right or wrong answer. However, today we are going to be focusing on just the leg."

Probably not in the way they were thinking either. "We, as witches and wizards, don't rely on our legs as much as hinkypunks do, since we are capable of making up for the loss with our wands, though we're more vulnerable due to the inability to move freely. However, if we take away our wands from the big picture and replace it with say, a rock, then what happens? Going to be feeling that hinkypunk's troubles right about then, aren't you."

Switching feet so she was pulling in her left leg, she chuckled lightly. "I'm not saying you should be sympathetic to hinkypunks, but, what we learn from them...we can put use into duels. Much like that of last lesson." The professor paused momentarily to lower her leg, shaking out each foot before standing in place. "We're going to be practicing two spells today, or three for those who do not know the disarming charm."

"With that being said, can anyone take a guess on what spells we'll be practicing?"
