Defense Against the Dark Arts Lesson Two

The winter weather left the arena chillier than usual, but by now you should know you'll warm up soon enough. Having been busy setting up certain things, Professor Romanos didn't quite have time to think of the effects of cold weather. With the morning sun shining brightly through the large windows, she had set up a table near the stands where a good number of cups were placed neatly on top, covering every inch of it. What those cups held would be explained shortly, but there was indeed some type of liquid in it. If you snuck a peak, water would definitely be crossed off your list of ideas.

The professor herself was sitting on the lowest part of one of the stands next to two medium sized boxes, both closed, ready to greet the students who came in. More than likely, they'd be explained shortly along with the cups. If the sight of these new objects make you feel uncomfortable in any way, than perhaps the absence of the purple mats would put your mind at ease.

Do come in and take a seat, whether that be on the cold stone floor or in the stands, or stay standing if you so wish. The lesson will begin soon as usual.

Hair gathered together in a ponytail, Beezus stepped inside the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom with creased eyebrows. Where'd the purple mats go? No yoga today? She even did some stretching exercises before going because she thought she'd be doing the dreadful boat position in today's lesson. But it seems like there'd be no need for that because all she could see was the table in front, almost concealed with the numerous cups on top of it.

The Ravenclaw tilted her head and eyed it, though not walking closer. Then she saw the DADA Professor with two boxes beside her. "Hello Professor Romanos." Beezus greeted with a nod as she strode to sit on a step at the stands just behind the woman.

So what's inside the boxes?

"Good morning, Miss Edwards." Medea smiled, noting the jeans...with the skirt. Well, whatever the girl comfortable...

Standing in the doorway for a moment with a rather perplexed look plastered across her face, the Gryffindor thought for a moment that perhaps she had arrived in the wrong location. It occurred to her that she should ask about the other stuff but really her mind was busily thinking about the liquid she had convinced herself was some refreshing juice. When would they be able to start drinking?

After greeting the Gryffindor previously, her gaze narrowed down to the first year looking at the drinks, juuuuuust making sure she didn't take a sip. "Good morning, Miss Cambridge." she smiled. "That vill all depend on you guys."

See, now there were the expressions she figured would be on the students as they came in. All happy and not at all confused. "Good day, Miss Bishop." Medea gave a small wave back.

No yoga mats, but as she continued looking around, Professor Romanos was still there. Weird, she thought, making her way past the boxes and table of cups to head for the stands. No way she was going to sit on the floor and freeze. "Hi Professor Romanos!," she did call out with a grin, though. She might have been confused, but she wasn 't going to be rude.

So far, the girls seemed to have read her announcement, which was nice. For them at least. "Good moooorning, Miss Quinn." She waved slightly before stuffing her hand back into the sleeve of her sweater.

"Hello, Miss Campbell." Medea smiled to the Hufflepuff as she stretched her legs out in front of her a little. The cold was making them feel cramped.

Hmm now aint this familiar?....

"Hello, Mister Vanderbilt." she greeted the Ravenclaw happily in return.

Well, the Ravenclaw was certainly walking correctly. Whatever made those cracking noises she heard from the first lesson didn't seem to leave any lasting problems. "Good morning, Miss Castell."

Wearing ALL her clothes, Cassia headed to the DADA lesson. Last lesson was nice until they reached the moves that required balance and stuff. Though it had ended without falling or any serious damages, the Ravvies took care of that. Cassia actually hoped for some moving in this class because she was feeling cold and wouldn't mind some warming up.

The first thing that caught her attention when entering was the cups. She paused eyeing them and couldn't help not peering at them. Water? Why would they need water? Knowing that she wasn't likely to guess what they contained, Cassia moved away from them and grinned at Professor Romanos, "Good day Professor!" Then she glanced at the students and spotted Theo.

She plopped down next to him and felt the cold immediately causing her tongue to freeze. Despite the many layers she wore she still felt the freezing floor. She offered Theo a smile while she still wasn't able to formulate words because of the sudden cold she felt. She should recover soon...preferably before the lesson truly started.

The first thing that Hannah noticed when she walked into the arena was that there weren't any yoga mats and she just couldn't explain why that put her in such a good mood. She hated doing all of the stupid positions and how can anybody think about answering questions when they were practically standing on their heads? This was definitely a good thing.

She spotted the professor and gave her a quick greeting. "Hello professor." she decided to take a seat on the stands because she just didn't feel like standing. She wrapped her arms around herself for warmth and waited to see what it was that they would be doing.

Walking into the arena, only one thing was very clear to Sierra--there were NO purple mats. No yoga?! WOOT! This caused the Slytherin prefect to head further into the room with a grin on her face. Sure, there were boxes. Cups of who-knew-what, too. There could very well be purple mats in those boxes, but just the fact that they couldn't be seen now made all the difference in the world. Sierra even made an effort to tell the professor hello. "Hello, Professor Romanos," she said, still grinning.

Yes. Life was good. There were no purple mats.

She's still freezing. Befelda can't take the freezing weather outside. She even had to sip hot water before going out. "Aarrgghh! This bloody cold weather is killing me!, she quipped, her voice shaking.

It's almost time for Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson. She hurriedly headed to the arena. Some students were already there taking their own areas, waiting and chatting with other students. As she passes by to one of the stands, she saw Professor Romanos sitting.

"Hi Professor! Good day to you!", she said, giving the Professor a smile on her face.

She noticed the cups in the table. Hmm...I wonder what these cups are for? Well, at least I do not need to stretch out my body in a Yoga mat. Befelda noticed that there were no purple Yoga mats placed. She was somehow relieved.

She took a seat on one of the stands and waited...

Belle smiled and was glad the professor was alright. Belle replied, "I am fine, just a little groggy this morning. The morning isn't being too rough on me at least i found my way here. I am excited for this lesson though."

Ethan walked towards the DADA classroom in a bit of a grumpy mood. Sleep was a bit hard to come by these days, leaving him somewhat tired, and he hadn't much cared for the last time he was in this class. Those odd poses they had to maintain coupled with the second-guessing nature of answering questions did not leave him with a pleasant experience.

No yoga mats? The boys mood lightened considerably as he noticed that particular feature of the class was absent today. "Good day, Professor," he said as he walked past the ~~exercise instructor~~ DADA professor. His eyes landed briefly on the boxes next to her, then on the cups on the table.. refreshments? Finding an empty spot near the middle of the stands, the boy made his way to his seat and sat down.

Alex entered the arena and was shocked by the bright light, cold temperature and absence of the usual yoga mats. "Awwwww", she said to no one in particular. Alex felt a little disappointed that they would not be doing any yoga today. She had really come to enjoy that part of the lesson.

Looking around, Alex began to take in the items that were in the arena. A table, cups of something and boxes were placed in the room. A puzzled look crossed her face as she wondered what they could possibly be doing today. Alex noticed Professor Romanos sitting near the stands and said, "Good day Professor". She continued on looking for a good place to sit.

Why was there no purple?

Entering the DADA classroom, Renesmee slightly frowned as she noticed that the purple mats were gone. It wasn't that she liked the yoga, because she didn't, it was because she liked having the colour purple around her. She was just plain weird like that. Oh well, not the end of the world.

The red head continued further as she felt the cold breeze, good thing she had chosen to wear her jersey that morning. "Good morning, Professor." she beamed slightly at the professor. She then headed up the stands and took a seat eyeing the cups and boxes with curiosity.

This lesson seemed to be interesting already. Which was a good thing because today she oathed to herself that she would not fall alseep in this class. Last time she was just beyond exhausted, but today she was well and rested so no excuses. She continued to keep her eyes on the cup letting imagination run as to what was inside them.

So they were gonna get to drink the stuff in the cups! Well that was all she needed to hear, even if it wasn't said in so many words. "Okay!" Her tone was suddenly brighter thanks to the prospect of having yummy juice. Man this class just kept getting better and better! First they didn't have to wear skirts this lesson and now they were gonna get to enjoy some sugar filled--"Uh Professor...they ARE heavily concentrated with sugar, right?" She just had to be sure. Everyone knew there wasn't any point in juice unless it had the potential to send you bouncing on a sugar rush.

Well now, this was an odd sight to behold. A DADA Class without any Yoga mats, what was Romanos up too? Oakey looked over the professor and smiled. "Hello Professor, Nice Morning isn't it?"

Daichi was again a bit reluctant to go to the DADA lesson. Because despite Kurumi's private lessons, he was still afraid that his gaze would be met with candle light the moment he entered the room. He stood in front of the door and took a deeeeeeep breath before opening it up .

Looking around first, the Slytherin noticed to his relief that no candle lights were lit and he moved closer feeling better already. The second thing that caught his attention was that there were no purple yoga mats, which was strange.

"Good day Professor Romanos" he smiled when he made eye contact with the Professor and with a quick glance towards the table with cups, he found a place to sit.

...Though as she stood up, the last few students made their way inside. She smiled and nodded to each before her gaze settled on the young Gryffindor asking about the drinks. Now there would have been an idea she would have to save for later when those had Charms with Sophia after her class.

Nothing like giving the charms professor a bunch of students hyped up on sugar.

"Not exactly, Miss Cambridge." Medea chuckled softly, accent gone, as she stood in front of the stands where students from either section, and those standing or sitting on the cold floor, could see her. "Alright, I think now is about a good of time as any to start. If you haven't noticed yet, which I'm sure all of you have, we don't have the purple mats today. This is because..."

There was a moments pause where she stared at the students, and then looked up to the ceiling where every mat was accounted for, quite stuck. "They're a bit out of our reach. I'm sure our lovely polgergeist had something to do with this, but, instead of taking them down...I thought of something better we can do." Looking back down to the class, Medea grinned.

"If you're afraid of heights, you may stay on the ground, though I assure you, every precaution has been taken into mind for this. So, does anyone have any ideas on how we..." She gestured to them all before pointing to the ceiling. "...are able to get up there?"

Daichi looked up from where he was seated to the ceiling. The Professor had been right and the mats were up there. Probably Peeves fault, yup got to be. Looking back down, the Slytherin listened to her words while moving his body to lean back a little on his arms.

How were they supposed to get them down...no , get up there. Daichi thought deeply and tried to think about an answer. "Accio a broom and fly up" he said with a smile. Good thing he wasn't afraid of heights.

No sugar? STARE. She didn't think she wanted any of the juice then. Nah...she'd pass. Without the possibility of a sugar rush it just wasn't as tempting

She settled into a seat in one of the rows and gave her full attention to the Professor when she began speaking. Interesting...no yoga mats because...because? She waited on the professor to finish her explanation but the woman just kept staring up at the ceiling! Merlin, then they said she had a short attention span. Lex followed her gaze.

Ooohhhh...she knew that.

How would they get up there...? An idea suddenly popped into her head and she jumped up in protest. "Professor, I don't think that's such a good idea!" Noooo. "I'm not letting anyone cast a levitating spell on me! No." Just no. She didn't trust any of these underage wizards to point a wand at her. Nope.

But then. "Umm...unless that's not what you meant..." Then she sat down again. Maybe she was over-thinking things...

"Oh, they turned out just fine, thank you!" she answered the professor cheerfully.

From her standing place in the room, her eyes followed Medea's up to the ceiling where all of the purple mats had been stuck. What spell does that? she wondered. More importantly, she wondered how they were going to get up there. She knew Wingardium Leviosa would lift objects, though she hadn't learned it herself yet. She thought there was another she had heard before. Levi....Levi Corpus? Was that right?

She raised her hand with her guess. "Could we use Levi Corpus? Erm, I think that's what it's called anyway." She gulped as she thought of students lifting other students. What if we drop each other? She wasn't sure how she felt about trusting someone like that. "But that is pretty high up... she said with uncertainty as she stared above her.

His head still tilted back and attention focused entirely on how they were going to get up there Oakey thought of one idea. "Are we gonna stick ourselves up there too?" Oakey asked. "Like the mats."

She hoped the answer wasn't something really... improbable, like that they were filling the room with water and swimming to the mats. Not because she didn't want to try it, but because Vivi couldn't possibly be expected to guess something like that.

She grinned very briefly at Vickers as he took a seat beside her before turning her attention back to the mats on the ceiling. "Professor, aren't there several potions available that make you lighter than air? Or maybe I'm thinking of something I saw in an old Muggle movie." Fizzy lifting drink!

There they were, like a disease hanging off the ceiling. THOSE PURPLE MATS. "Maybe we should just leave them up there?" Sierra suggested, her hand raised. She didn't really want to suggest a way to get up there, because it might work. Then she'd be forced to do that awful yoga they'd done EVERY LESSON since Romanos came here. "We should go to combat in the arena and leave those there for now."

That was her idea, she even nodded along as she said it.

"We could try Wingardium Leviosa, but...doesn't that have a limit of up to five feet in the air?" she asked.

Finding a random spot on the ground, Kurumi tucked her legs underneath her as she sat down and then her attention was brought upwards. Ew, those looked sort of creepy up there.

Kurumi internally cringed when it was implied that they were going to have to somehow get themselves up there to get the pillows down. Not that she was afraid of heights - just brooms - but there were still plenty of spells that they could use while still on the ground, no? "You could use a Banishing Charm to return those to their proper place," Kurumi suggested after raising her hand. That was what the spell did anyway. "Or perhaps an Engorgement Charm on a person to make them grow big enough to reach up and grab them." Like a giant. And she had one more random thought. "Or perhaps the Bestiar Charm to transfigure arms into wings so we can fly up there."

The Levitation Spell seemed to weak. Then Kat's hand rose up. "What about Alarte Ascendare, Professor?" the blonde suggested. It was just a guess. It wouldn't hurt, if she tried. "Or Ascendio."

The lack of mats instantly brought a grin to Jake's face as he stepped into the classroom. He'd honestly been not looking forward to this class. He didn't want to get a shoe to the head like he had last time. And no mats meant no shoe-throwing. Hopefully.

Except... There were mats. Jake stared at the Professor as she pointed out the mats on the ceiling. Merlin's beard. She was joking! Did she seriously expect them to -

...Apparently, yes.

Frowning, Jake leaned against the lower railing on the stands and looked up at the ceiling. Then, raising his hand, he addressed the professor. "Couldn't we just... summon them back down here? Or wait until they just fell? Unless they're up there with a permanent sticking charm, it's bound to happen eventually..."
