Default 1 - Dreamer's Elixer

Hecate had just returned from St Mungo's. She was very pale, and the bags under her eyes were dark and gray. Her lips were dry and she looked as if she'd lost weight.

The healers of the third floor were not happy that she'd released herself. But Hecate Lafay was not going to remain in that horrid hospital room. She'd gotten back a few moments ago and she was going to hold a class.

Even if it killed her.

She opened the door to the classroom and sat behind the desk.

ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Nixy! and AuroraQuinn for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me, and to Anna Banana for making it into a pretty graphic!

Minerva listened as the other students talked about their answers and then the house elf showed up.. Oh this wouldn't be good. Doesn't t he elves know to stay out of this area. Shrugging as Lafay started on the poor thing she wasn't surprised when Lafay started threatening to use it as a potion.

Trying to just ignore the commotion Minerva turned to her cauldron pointing her wand to fill with water. She was about to say the spell when she shook her head. Focus Minerva.. especially in this classroom. Pointing her wand again "Scourgify" to make sure her cauldron was clean. Then she pointed her wand to cast "Aguamenti" filling the cauldron up until she needed no more water "Finite" Trying to think Minerva pointed her wand and set the flames for the cauldron. Then she sat waiting for the next instruction.

Again with the whole dream business? Was Lafay friends with Elwood or something? Ha! She knew that was highly unlikely. She just wondered what that had to do with potions. Oh well. She did not dream last night...that she could remeber anyways so she didn't feel the need to tell the professor that she didn't. Surely that much would be obvious by her not responding.

We weren't playing around today. Then again there never played around in potions but honestly Hannah could respect and appreciate that. Knowing that you always had to clean your cauldron first Hannah casted "Scourgify." She was so not getting involved in the elf business. Let Lafay use her in some kind of potion...no skin off of Hannah's back. She then pointed her wand back at her cauldron. "Aguamenti." She wondered idly that if Lafay did decide to take off the elf's hide if she would let them partake in the whole potion brewing thing. Her cauldron had the perfect amount of water. "Finite." Set fire? Hannah could do that! "Incendio."

This potion was to help them forget or remember dreams? That came in perfect timing for the Ravenclaw. She shifted in her seat, excited and really perked up for this lesson now, then a POP was heard and a house-elf announced their brooch-hunting again. It wasn't hard predicting Lafay's reaction to this, the Potions Mistress never liked her class to be interrupted at all. So she just waited for the house-elf to be chastised and pop away from here.

Louisa took her wand out and scourgify'ed her cauldron and then the water-- CRASH. Her gaze snapped up to the front of the class to see the house-elf stuttering, begging, whimpering and throwing herself on the floor were there was the remnants of something.

Uh oh. And then Vivi hurried over to help the poor creature. MAJOR UH OH. In other circumstances, Louisa would feel bad about the house-elf, admire whoever helping it and just get on with her work. BUT NOW, this was Lafay. Who already chastised the house-elf and a Ravenclaw hurrying over to help it... yeah, not good. So Louisa just gulped, absently filled her cauldron with water and waited for the screamstorm. "Incendio," she lit under her cauldron..

Eh..

He didn't know why Professor Lafay looked a bit.. weird for today. Huh, maybe just his feeling (or because that most of people are weird? *shrugs*) The blonde guy just sat at his seat until the students came and she started the lesson. And now they talked about dreams? Honestly he never remembered about his dream last night. Besides that he wasn't a dreamer. So? he just kept silent and decided not to answer the question.

Interesting. They would brew a potion to forget the dreams, although without it, he made sure that he would forget about his own. As usual, the first step is filling the cauldron with the water. But he made sure that his cauldron was clean enough first. "Scourgify." Then he added some water. "Aguamenti." and set the fire. Incendio."

Cardigan's eyes were wide, much like the House Elf's. Look, she might not be the biggest House Elf fan alive, but she sure wasn't that mean about them! Professor Ellwood was better about it, right? Cause the same "situation" had happened in her class...

Weird.

She proceeded to go on with the instructions for the elixr, First cleaning it out using "Scourgify." It was ALWAYS a good idea to clean cauldrons up first, before proceeding on to brewing potions and such in it. Ya never know what was in it last! Then, she started filling it up with a "water base", using "Aguamenti." There!! That should do the trick!

Now, what's next???

Beezley grew very wide-eyed and got a look of pure horror on her face. "Oh, ohhh, Missus! Beezley is so sorry, she is!" the elf exclaimed. She hid her face and started walking backwards out the door. Beezley is not wanted here. Missus Minister is so, so scary.

Then... CRASH!!!

Beezley had backed into a table and had turned just in time to see an empy vial wobble then topple down toward the floor. "No, no, no, no," Beezley mumbled. She tried to catch the vial, but the vial landed with a crash. "Beezley is so, so sorry, Missus. Beezley doesn't want to be made into a potion. Beezley will clean up her mess."
"Y-y-yea-h Pr-pr-pro-fe-fessor," Cardigan stuttered, keeping her voice down to a low tone, seeing she was already at the front of the class. Wouldn't want to get in trouble anymore than she already would! "B-b-ee-ee-eezley is ju-ju-just a hou-hou-house elf. Ju-ju-just let he-he-her go, and she won't disturb you any more..."

Hopefully Lafay would just let her go, and have her look for the Brooch somewhere else. I mean, that would be the nicest thing to do, and the easiest. It would least take away from her teaching time, and their learning time!!

Even better: why not let her search in silence?!

House elves were taking over Hogwarts! And Elliot did NOT like it! Honestly, she liked the fact that they stayed invisible to the students, down in the kitchens. Because house elves were ANNOYING!

Hmph.

When Lafay yelled at it...Elliot couldn't help but smiiiirk. Yeah. Take that, annoying thing. She whipped out her wand and eyed Beezus...clearly scared that her table partner was going to do something incredibly stupid...not that Beezus was stupid. Elliot just...didn't trust her...

She scourgified it...then, "Aquamenti!" she said softly, filling her cauldron with water...all right. Step one had been easy enough..."Incendio..." she pointed her wand under her cauldron...okay..now to wait. For instructions. Further instructions....

Nigel was still thinking about his dream and what it could mean. Maybe he did have to ask Professor Elwood about it. He was snapped out of his daydreaming by Professor Lafay's first set of instructions. Okay, so he had to fill his cauldron with water and set a fire below it.

Nigel could does this. This was the easy part. Nigel took scourgified his cauldron first. He did not want a dirt cauldron and what if dirt got in the potion. Nope did not want that. He then filled his cauldron with water up to where Lafay did. Once he was sure he cast incendio underneath it and heard a CRASH.

What is it with these house elfs. Is this one looking for that brooch too? Yes it seemed it was. But Lafay was giving it a death look and now threatened it. Nigel just wanted the lesson to continue. But it was not looking good. Now that the stupid elf knocked over a potion all over the floor. Yep, Lafay will definitely make the elf into a potion.

Pao's eyes grew big at the entrance of the house elf. Beezley, apparently? He could never tell what gender these things were. He hadn't known anyone in Italy that had one, so he didn't have any practice. That brooch again? He'd heard the older students saying an elf had shown up in Divination. He couldn't take that class, but he'd heard it was quite the commotion.

Aww, I could help look for--. Then the Professor-- Lafay, she said?-- started yelling. That poor elf is just doing its job! His Hufflepuff side was clearly showing as he sensed an injustice and felt bad for the poor creature. But the Professor is far from feeling 100%, so maybe she just wants to get this done as quick as possible.

Either way, he had instructions to follow. Water base. Right.. so he was supposed to fill his cauldron with water, then? He glanced around at the other students. Most were just pointing their wands at their cauldrons, but it appeared that there were two spells to make water appear. Scourgify... and Aguamenti.

The first one was easier to say, so he pointed his wand at his cauldron and said, "Scourgify!" He peered inside, standing on tiptoe to do so. There was definitely no water. But it looks shinier inside, that's something, right? He tried the second spell, but no discernible difference was made. In desperation, he searched the room, hoping an answer would present itself. That's when he spotted the water spigot.

Relief swept through him. He hauled his cauldron over and let it fill. Er, did I miss how much water she said to put in? He settled for filling it about two thirds full, figuring he could always add more as needed. Then he slowly dragged the cauldron back, struggling under the weight and slopping its contents down the front of his robes.

A potion to help you remember or forget dreams? That doesn't seem very useful... She usually remembered most of her dreams anyway, and the nightmares? She figured nightmares were ok to remember too. Who knows when they might come in handy.

The Ravenclaw shrugged and pulled out her wand, aiming at her cauldron. She'd never made any potions before, or used a cauldron, so she hoped she didn't mess anything up too badly.

CRASH

What was - Oh. Another house elf. The Headmistress must've really liked that brooch! She's got elves everywhere looking for it. This made Eliza stop and think. She lowered her wand for a moment. Why is the Headmistress so bent on getting this back? She glanced around the room wondering if anyone else had asked themselves that same question.

Then Lafay, the woman she'd felt sorry for moments earlier, was scolding the poor house elf. She felt a lot of her sympathy for the woman slip away as the elf cowered before her. It's only trying to do what it's been told, she thought angrily. There's no reason to be mean to it. Seeing the warm welcome the other students who tried to help got, she decided to keep her mouth shut. She would try to help the elves by first trying to understand this brooch. There must be something really special about this brooch for all the fuss it's causing...

She pointed her wand back at the cauldron and started filling it with water.
"Aguamenti" she said lazily. She didn't want a fast spout of water because she wasn't really sure how full to fill it. Had she said how full? When the water was about half way up the cauldron she decided to stop. "Finite."

She hoped that would be an acceptable amount of water. She didn't really want to ask the professor right now, given her new mood. She pointed her wand at the base of the cauldron and cast the fire spell, "Incendio." Also a bit sheepishly, as she wasn't really sure how hot to make the cauldron either. Gosh, this is going to be a difficult class. I hope there's not always so much guessing involved, she thought. Because if there was one thing she loved, it was clear, logical facts - or instructions in this case.

So she did hear her after all. Nothing went past Lafay, apparently. Ariadne was intrigued about today's potion and eager to start just as the poor elf materialised itself in the classroom. Poor, poor thing.

What was the deal with the Headmistress' brooch, anyway? Why was it so important? Ari could find no answers to these questions, so she decided to drop it and begin on her potion. Lafay was in a bad mood already, no need to incur her wrath for not following simple instructions.

'Aguamenti.' the girl said, watching as her cauldron filled with water. She then proceeded to light a fire under it, all the while following the elf out of the corner of her eye, waiting for events to unfold.

Dreams again. Did Professors Lafay and Elwood coordinate their lessons perhaps, or was it just coincidence? Silvia gave the cauldron in front of her a quick “Scourgify.”

There was a sound and a small voice spoke from near the door. Silvia looked up.

A House Elf. Searching for the Headmistress’ brooch, just like in Divination. The Headmistress must be really serious about this brooch. Did she know that the House Elves she sent to find it were interrupting lessons? And if so, then why was a brooch so important that she didn’t care whether or not their lessons were interrupted?

Unsurprisingly, Lafay was not happy about it. Not happy at all. The Ravenclaw felt bad for the house elf, but they really shouldn’t be interrupting class.

Then there was a CRASH. Uh oh, things were not looking too good for this house elf. Or for them, Silvia thought, if Professor Lafay began taking her bad mood out on the class.

Turning her attention back to the cauldron, Silvia cast an “Aguamenti,” to fill it up. Once that was done, she cast an “Incendio” to light it and then waited for the next instructions to come, once Professor Lafay got through with shouting at the elf that is.

Annabelle was wondering what her night terrors could mean. She was about to write down the instructions in her notebook about the first step of the potion when she suddenly heard the crash

"Jeez!" Belle said when she jumped violently. Are there house elves in every lesson? Belle was beginning to wonder. She saw Professor Lafay give the house elf an evil glare. No one should cross her ever if she was teaching a lesson.

Now that the room had tension, Belle wanted to be occupied. She got out her cauldron and wand and started to clean it. "Scourgify!" Belle said. The dust from the cauldron was cleaned off. Then she said "Aquamenti!" the water filled in the cauldron. Then she set the fire underneath the cauldron. This was the easy part.

SPOILER!!: Belle's Notebook

Clean the cauldron and set fire underneath the cauldron.

Yet Lafayt's reaction made her grit her teeth in anger. This lady.... gave all women a bad name, as did Lafay.. mean where meant to be meanies.. women were meant to be the merciful ones. She was still burning with self-righteous indignation when she filled up her cauldron with water using arguamenti and lit a fire beneath it with incendio. She counted to five in her head to calm down. Then she turned to the houseelf with a sympathetic look. Sarah was going to right it... if she could. Forget dreams... or remember them... Ethan wasn't completely sure that either was all that useful a potion as he could care less if he remembered his dreams or not... he never really had anything that horrifying that he just had to forget. He was more interested in finding out what some of the stranger ones might mean though. Still, the fifth year rather enjoyed potions and was eager to begin even if he wouldn't use the elixer.

And yet another class interruption. Ethan glanced over to the little elf. First ghosts, now elves kept popping up. Didn't they usually keep themselves hidden? He wondered how anybody learned anything at this school if such occurrences were the norm. Then his eyes widened as Lafay spoke. Harsh. Not that he cared much for how the professor handled it, but she did have a right to expect to hold class without such an interruption - especially over something as trivial as a piece of jewelry.

The Ravenclaw turned back to his cauldron. Casting Scourgify to clean it, Ethan rolled his eyes at the mini freak-outs some of his classmates were having. Really, people... Lafay might have barked unnecessarily at the little creature, but she wouldn't actually harm it. There were laws against that sort of thing. Besides.. his housemate was helping the elf clean up and then it could be on its way. Then, for the love of Merlin, they could finish their class in piece. Aguamenti. and then Incendio.

Default Milton, Lafay, Vivi... catching up stuff

Yeah, that's right, Captain. DON'T MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH THE ANGRY GING. Hehehe. Addy kind of liked having someone who was afraid of her. It made her feel powerful. In a weird way. Addy DID scoot her chair a little closer to Milton and thought of hissing Yoda style at him...

Raising her hand Addy furrowed her brow. "I can't remember my dream, but I did wake up with a start gasping for air." Weird, no? She had a sense of foreboding wash over when she awoke, as well. Creepy stuff, it was.

And WHAAAAAAA!

Lafay was bad out of line, man... Addy clenched her jaw and rose from her seat as Vivi rushed forward to assist the elf. "Let me help clean up the glass, guys." She cared not that Lafay was apparently breathing fire about the elf. There was NO excuse for treating the creature that way merely for following orders.

Gideon sat quietly as various classmates spoke up and supplied their dreams, some more vivid or imaginative then others. He tried not to smirk as he heard Vivi's one about the bear, the scene rather amusing as it came to mind, however he behaved. As for him, he was clueless of any dream he may or may not have had last night, the prefect guessing it hadn't really stuck in his mind to remember. And surely Lafay didn't need to know ALL of the people who hadn't had or didn't remember dreams.

It did make him interested where the conversation was going as there were a few potions out there that involved controlling dreams. The mystery was solved soon enough as Lafay spoke once more describing the one they would be brewing this class. And then they were visited, or in the case of Lafay, disturbed by a house elf. The broach was certainly something interesting to have seemingly every elf looking for it, the seventh year remembering the one in Divination. Gideon winced slightly as the professor went off on the creature, all around glad when they moved on to preparing to brew. However the sound of glass made him wonder what might happen next.

Elf...leave while yer still unharmed.

Gideon took out his cauldron and set it on the unlit burner before taking out his wand as well. "Scourgify," he cast double checking its cleanliness as they were always supposed to do. "Aquamenti," he then cast beginning to fill the receptacle with water, a wordless wave ending the spirt when he was satisfied with the water level inside the cauldron.

Two steps down, one to go. A finally flick of his wand ignitting the fire beneath to a nice, steady heat.

Dreams...a potion that made you remember and more importantly forget dreams. Now Nessie was paying full attention. She had a certain nightmare she would do almost anything to get rid of. It was one of those repetitive dreams that happened again and again, making you wake up screeching or shaking in the middle of the night. They were no fun and the idea of getting rid of them was great.

For a change potions seemed somewhat exciting, and Ness couldn't help but grin just a little as she watched the very sick Professor for their next set of instructions.

Elf? What? Where?

Renesmee only now saw the little creature, that was talking and now......falling? Boom! Crash! Was all Ness heard as she stared at the creature destroying things by accident in the front of the classroom. Poor little thing. Lafay was going to be mad....and that was not good.

Trying not to let it distract her, the Hufflepuff Captain took her wand out and cleaned her cauldron with a simple 'Scourgify' muttered quietly under her breath. She then continued. "Aguamenti" She said filling up her empty cauldron. "Finite" Mhhmm, that seemed like enough water. Now for the fire. "Incendio" Yep. She was set and ready to go.

Hopefully this potion class would not be so difficult. Forgetting dreams...she needed that BADLY!

She set the fire under her cauldron. "The potion we are brewing today can either make you forget your dreams, or... when adding another ingredient, make you remember them."

"Elf! Get out of my classroom!" She said getting angry. "You will not disrupt my class... now get out, or I'll brew something that required House Elf flesh."

She then turned to the cauldron and filled it with water. "Use a water base. Fill your cauldrons and set the fire below."
A potion that could make you forget your dreams? ...or remember them? Now this potion Sierra needed. She'd had nightmares since she was about thirteen, because that'd been when her birth mother had kidnapped her. Her real mother, the one she loved and claimed, had always given her a potion to keep the nightmares at bay, but Sierra had never learned how to brew it herself.

This at least got her mind somewhat off her mother's condition, and she even found herself cleaning her cauldron to get it ready for the brewing. When it seemed to be as clean as it possibly could, she aimed her wand into it and filled it with water using Aguamenti. Finally, a simple Incendio lit a fire under the cauldron, and she was ready.

...but then a house elf rudely interrupted the lesson, and Sierra found herself smirking in amusement at how her mother shooed it away. The brooch wasn't in the room. If it had been, someone would have come across it already. Not to mention, they were TRYING to hold a lesson. Idiotic elf.

So, it was obvious he was sat next to her. That and he wouldn't sit anywhere else.

Kennedy nudged her shoulder with his a little and sent her a small grin. That might not do much, but it expressed that he was there for her, and if it wasn't for Professor Lafay's keen sight then he'd comfort her.

Merlin, he was starting to sound like a Hufflepuff.
She used the time in between directions to return Kennedy's look. She reached over and brushed her hand across his, very quickly, just to thank him for always being there for her. Merlin, she just wished she could go closer to him now and just let him hug her until the bad feelings went away.

With her mother in the room, though? Nope. She didn't have a death wish, and she knew Kennedy didn't either.

Dream potion, eh? That sounded...quite tricky, actually. It was also pretty interesting. Most of the time Ella was totally fine with having dreams but there were certain ones she didn't care to remember, ones involved her Mom. She'd gladly wipe those away if given the option.

...

BLINK.BLINK. And then there was a house elf. An ickle house elf! D'awww! And it was looking for something! And then Professor Lafay had said something about using elf flesh O___________O EEP! Ella's green eyes grew quite large and she bit her lip, hoping the poor little house elf would disappear a.s.a.p. She definitely didn't want anything bad to happen to it. Unfortunately, the little thing didn't leave as quietly as intended, knocking over vial and smashing it on the floop. YIKES. That wasn't good.

Oh! And they were starting? Alright...time to stop thinking about elf flesh...and start focusing. Use a water base. Fill your cauldrons and set the fire below. Right. She could do that.

Cleaning her cauldron out first, the third year then pointed her wand at it and began to fill it up. "Aguamenti." When she was done with the base, she pointed her wand underneath and a fire instantly ignited. Cool. She was ready to go.

A potion to remember or forget dreams? Well, that would be useful, if one was having nightmares anyway. Which Emmanuelle didn't have many of (that she could remember, anyway), but still, useful. But then, class was interrupted, exactly like in Divination, by a house elf. It seemed that the Headmistress still hadn't found her brooch. Em had to roll her eyes. After all, how could the woman run a school if she couldn't even keep up with a simple piece of jewelry?

Choosing to ignore the elf, even as it was banging into things, she grabbed her cauldron and gave it a couple of good Scourgifys before placing it on the top of her station. "Aguamenti." She briefly wondered what would happen if she aimed the spell at the elf instead, but decided against it. That would probably make the professor angry. So, she just lit a fire under her cauldron and waited for the next instruction.

Dreams and stuff? Seri had been scared to talk before now because Mrs. Head Snake had already told her off this term but whatever. "Dreams? Miss I had a dream once, I was in this magical land, and I was swimming in this pretty lake and then a huge dinosaur came out and ate me. It was reallyscary. Seri said with wide eyes. She didn't care if the Professor had moved on, whatever Seri said was, and always would be, more intresting than any teacher.

Then Mrs. Snakey ranted for a few hours about something else, before finally getting on to making something. She told them all to fill their cauldrons with water. Cauldron; she did have, water she did not. Apparently everyone else had all the charms to do this, but Seri could hardly levitate a matchstick. The most magic her wand had done so far, was..... NONE. Apparently her wand didn't think she was a witch. She looked around the room for a tap, but thought it was hopeless. She put her hand out and rather than wait for the Professor come to her, she just said rather bluntly, "How exactly do I fill my cauldron with water?"

Sierra couldn't help but overhear that one.

Not that she desired to be Little Miss Helpful, but A) this was her mother's class, and B) the girl asking the question was one of the Slytherins. As prefect, the least Sierra could do was help out.

"You cast Aguamenti," she said. "Just point our wand into your cauldron and say the incantation." Did she even know how to light a fire underneath it, as well? They'd get to that next, but first, she needed water. She started to gesture for the girl to go on, when she remembered...

"...oh, but first, you have to clean your cauldron. If you don't, she'll just make you start over," Sierra said, glancing toward Lafay. She looked at the girl, wondering if she got all that. If not, Sierra guessed she could be Little Miss Helpful a little longer.

Harlow nearly stood on top of her table to get a look at the house elf over the heads of the other students. She was only a few inches taller than a house elf so it was difficult to see the poor thing sitting down.

She would have volunteered to help the poor thing, but the look on Professor Lafay's face kept that statement lodged in the back of her throat good and tight. She climbed down from her table and back into her chair.

Harlow took out her wand, "Aguamenti." She mutter pointing her wand into her cauldron. She had to buy a new one for this term. She had properly burned a hole in the last one. She didn't have the aptitude with potions that her cousin Paris did, but she was getting better.

After her cauldron was filled she started a low fire under it. Better to start off low until told otherwise.

Before Mrs. Snakey/Professor could answer her question, another, older Slytherin girl was answering it for her. Hello? Miss know-it-all, Seri was asking the Professor, not you, since when did Hogwarts let students become teaching assistants? But wait- the girl had a shiny badge! A really nice one with a 'P' on it. Seri wanted one- no, she NEEDED one. Seri had new-found respect for the girl, and wondered what 'P' stood for; Perfect student perhaps? Pleasant student? No, neither of them could be right. It didn't matter anyway, Seri just needed the badge. It could mean anything and she'd still wear it.

Anyway, this kid went on like the Professor about some water charm called Agua-something. Seri copied the girl, pointing her wand at the cauldron, ready to say the chant.. or whatever you called it. She needed to learn some proper-sounding magic words soon. Something that'd make her sound real intelligent. All her brothers would think- wait, know that she was smarter than them.

Clean her cauldron? "But I only bought it a few weeks ago in Diagon Alley, the place I bought it from seemed very clean." Seri protested, an eyebrow raised. She'd been assured it was of the finest quality too, but the salesman had seemed a bit off. Perhaps it was counterfeit? Maybe as soon as she tried to make a potion it would melt to the groud or something? That would be real cool! Seri sighed, knowing she would be forced to by the Snakey Lady if Shiny Badge Girl didn't. "And I suppose there's a charm for that? Or are high and mighty wizards actually capable of doing minor tasks magicless?" Was magicless a word? Seri didn't care. She could only assume wizards would find it completely and utterly, insanely impossible to do said task without their dear wands. Seri seemed to have a growing resentment for wands and spells of all kinds.

...but Missus Minister wasn't.

Hecate began to feel her insides bubble, and she began trying to calm herself. "Leave. It. And. Get. Out!" She said getting very angry.

It was probably a useful sort of potion to have in one's repertoire.

The interruption of a house elf distracted Vivi momentarily, and she opened her mouth to offer a suggestion to the poor creature when she was unceremoniously ejected from the room. Had the Potions Mistress really just threatened one of the loyalest creatures in the entire castle? Vivi turned wide eyes on the woman, who... ill or not... was being terribly unkind to someone who had to be there simply because the Headmistress requested it.

But was it worth causing trouble? Vivi mused over that question as she filled her cauldron and lit a fire beneath it. "Professor, how full do you want the cauldron?"

A crash from the front of the room distracted her again, and Vivi stepped around her own bench to help the poor creature clean up the spilled potion. "We'll just banish the mess. Don't worry."
Good. Someone would clean up the mess. "Till the neck, Miss Branxton. But you'll have to start over. I expect my students all clean their cauldrons as an extra precaution before they brew." She said to the seventh year.

She's just following orders from Truebridge," he said, his voice getting quieter and quieter as he spoke. He barely ever spoke to his step-mother, because she honestly still scared the living daylights out of him most of the time.

After a few awkward seconds of staring at her, he fumbled with his desk contents and found his wand, quickly filling up his cauldron with water while avoiding her eye.
She glared at the Hufflepuff boy who shared her husband's name. "Do you really think I'd cut the elf's ears off, or its nose, harvest its organs?" In front of the students? It'd be an automatic firing and she wasn't going to risk that.

Then all of a sudden, a house elf was at the classroom. IT WAS BEEZLEY! The Ravenclaw's dark brown eyes widened. IT WAS BEEZLEY! THE HOUSE ELF SHE'D ALWAYS WANTED TO BEFRIEND! She was looking for the Headmistress' brooch, is it? Beezus was about to speak up, tell the house elf that she'd help when the Potions Mistress snapped at the poor creature.

The Ravenclaw frowned. There was really no need to threaten Beezley. Go now little one.

As the house elf said she was going, Beezus got around to filing her cauldron quickly with water. She was on the act of starting the fire when there was yet another crash.

She broke something.

Hopefully Lafay would just let her go, and have her look for the Brooch somewhere else. I mean, that would be the nicest thing to do, and the easiest. It would least take away from her teaching time, and their learning time!!

Even better: why not let her search in silence?!
"STOP! STUTTERING!" She said and she covered her mouth with her handkerchief. Great... something else is going... "Nothing will happen to the elf."

"Get back to your desk. Miss Branxton is helping. Begin your potion," She said curtly.

"Find an upper classm-" but someone came to her rescue.

Good. She nodded towards Sierra. Good Prefect.

Grabbing her wand, Lafay had given her instructions. "Scourgify," the blonde said. The cauldron looked squeaky clean afterwards. Now, she had to add water. "Aguamenti," she said as soft as a whisper, but water came out of her wand and filled the cauldron.

Quietly, Kat had set the fire below the cauldron before Lafay could get even angrier.

Alright, fist step. She took out her cauldron and set it on the table. Filling her cauldron with water, she set the fire below as instructed. Now wait for Professor to continue. After the house elf had been properly scolded and glared at, of course. Or maybe not, seeing how unwell Lafay was..

All she could remember was Galway and chocolate. And zombies, in one of them, but none of that was enough to actually say aloud. Maybe the potion would actually be useful. Unless she'd forgotten because she didn't want to remember. Either way, the lesson had moved on by the time she'd come to that conclusion, so she'd stayed quiet and started getting her workstation ready as they were instructed to, setting her cauldron up and starting to inspect it carefully to make sure it was clean.

She wasn't stupid, after all, even if she'd thought about exploding a cauldron just to make things interesting. She wasn't about to skip the cleaning step that was never mentioned but always ended up getting somebody yelled at for forgetting. She got distracted by Beezley entering the room, though, pausing in her preparation to cast Aguamenti to watch the exchange with wide hazel eyes. Okay, Professor Lafay really doesn't like house elves, she thought, cringing as the vial was shattered. I don't wanna witness a house elf killing. She gave Beezley credit for not having completely ran off, though. The elf was clearly (and understandably) terrified, but it didn't run off. And she murmured "Aguamenti" to start filling her cauldron with water, then lit the fire underneath carefully. If Beezley could be brave, she was going to be too. And maybe quietly start looking for the headmistress's brooch once class was over.

She waited for her turn to answer. She then raised her hand "I dreamed about finally getting to do archery around school." since she hasn't done any of it ever since she came her. Guess she just miss it.

Taking her cauldron and other basic stuff such as the stirrer, she placed them all into the table. And so she's right about what they will brewing. Forgetting dreams VS remembering them. Tricky, Juliet doesn't know which one should be the good thing. "Scourgify" she started with cleaning. Then while she started to lit fire, she took out her wand and pointed it over to her cauldron "Aguamenti".

Um...they were starting to learn the potion or preparing to brew the elf? Just to know. Anyway, Cassia saw that a couple of students started doing it. So Cassia would do the same and have herself occupied.

"Scourgify," She murmured. Then ,"Aguamenti." Cassia kept filling the cauldron till it was full then she stopped.

We weren't playing around today. Then again there never played around in potions but honestly Hannah could respect and appreciate that. "Incendio."

Incendio."

'Aguamenti.' the girl said, watching as her cauldron filled with water. She then proceeded to light a fire under it, all the while following the elf out of the corner of her eye, waiting for events to unfold.

Hopefully this potion class would not be so difficult. Forgetting dreams...she needed that BADLY!

She used the time in between directions to return Kennedy's look. She reached over and brushed her hand across his, very quickly, just to thank him for always being there for her. Merlin, she just wished she could go closer to him now and just let him hug her until the bad feelings went away.

With her mother in the room, though? Nope. She didn't have a death wish, and she knew Kennedy didn't either.

"Great... now." She said and wiped her mouth again.

Not good.

Sooo not good.

Class...

Right...

"Ingredients for the potion, go get them from storage." She pointed her wand at the board and the words appeared:
  • 1 cup of valerian root
  • half a cup of Kava Kava
  • 1 deadly nightshade berry
  • 8 leaves of devil's weed
  • 1 cup of Poison Hemlock seeds
  • 1 poppy flower
  • 10 leaves of Calea Zacatechichi
