Hecate had just returned from St Mungo's. She was very pale, and the bags under her eyes were dark and gray. Her lips were dry and she looked as if she'd lost weight.
The healers of the third floor were not happy that she'd released herself. But Hecate Lafay was not going to remain in that horrid hospital room. She'd gotten back a few moments ago and she was going to hold a class.
Even if it killed her.
She opened the door to the classroom and sat behind the desk.
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Nixy! and AuroraQuinn for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me, and to Anna Banana for making it into a pretty graphic!
Louisa, along with her shiny new ginger hair, made her way down to the dungeons with a big smile plastered on her face. The smile wasn't something new, the girl has been smiling and fairly happy for the past month, the new thing was the Potions Mistress' state. As soon as the Head Girl walked into the classroom and took a glance at Lafay, she froze in her spot and slightly frowned. Lafay was looking worse by the minute! She was definitely better looking two months ago when Louisa got the hair tonic potion from her!
"P-professor...? How're you doing?" Her voice was low and respectful. Even if the lady was tough and formal in the outside, Louisa did like her a lot after what she did for her. And for Josh.

Cardigan wasn't usually the most excited for potions. It was actually one of her worst subjects, no matter. Well, that's what she thought. It hadn't taken long at all to get over here, seeing she was back at the common rooms not too long ago for one of her non-existent rests. She felt that all she did in the day was go back and forth between classes!! I mean, that's what it was supposed to be like, but it was way more stressful than muggle school, and it was the same thing.
Mainly, she was excited to see Lafay back. Can't have a house without your Head Of House, right?
Totally. Cardigan skipped into the Potions classroom, overly expecting a more exciting vibe. If Lafay was back, she must be way better than before!!! Not so much. She was NOT looking too well. Maybe she needed some Soup? That probably wouldn't help. "Good day professor. Glad to have you back," She said cheerfully but respectfully, managing a sweet smile. Hopefully she was okay? The young snake went and sat down at one of the seats in the front, just for good measure.
Befelda was excited. It's her first lesson in Potions and she's a little nervous as to how she will handle the potion-making. She hurriedly head to Potions classroom, hoping she's not late yet for the first class.
She slowly opened the door and quietly peeped inside, checking if the class had already started. Alas! The class still not started yet. She entered the classroom and slowly walked inside. She then saw the Professor behind her desk, looking pale. She walked near her and bet a phrase,"Good day, Professor. Are you alright? You don't look that good?", Befelda asked.
Maxwell walked into Potions class. He was not excited. Potions being his worst subject he was actually dreading it.
He nodded to the professor, noting how ill she looked. "Hello, professor." He said and found a seat.
Elliot straightened up a bit when she saw Maxwell. She grinned..."Hey Max," she said...looking extremely impressed....because hey, he was actually here! Whooh!

Upon entering, Beezus smelled in the familiar scent of various potion ingredients from bezoars to shrivel figs. Then she turned to the Potions Mistress and Slythein Head of House, "G-good day Professor Lafay." Not really a good one because you don't look too good. What if she wasn't in the mood? A Beezus intervention just wouldn't be appropriate.

Elliot raised an eyebrow at Beezus..."Beezus," she nodded...Merlin. Her fellow claw BETTER not do ANY funny business today, either. Not that Elliot was amazing at potions or anything..."Don't go setting our table on fire or anything..." she warned, her blue eyes focused in on Beezus hands...
Yeah. Beezus. WE'RE WATCHING THOSE!

Next class was Potions. Seems odd. Wasn't Professor Lafay at St. Mungo's? The thought of Professor sitting there was tremendously worrying in Kat's position. Being a Slytherin and everything.
As she entered the classroom, Kat first looked at Professor. She was pale. Very different from the Lafay she knew back then. "Good day, Professor Lafay," Kat said. She was nervous. For Lafay. She had respect for her. "Ummm... Professor... are you... alright?"
Kat had a nervous face. She was scared as well. But then she took a seat.

Maxwell got up from his seat and sat next to Elliot. "Hey, Ell.." He said settling in his seat. "You might need to help me with this class...i'm awful at potions.." He said knowing that was understatement of the year.
Sophie walked into the dungeons a bit hesitantly. She had no idea what to expect from this lesson and professor Lafay's face didn't help the badger feel any better about all this.
"Hi, professor..."She said in a low tone. The third year gulped and went to sit next to Ella as silently as possible. The quietness that was in the classroom was even more terrifying now. Sophie raised her eyebrows at her best friend and placed her bag on the floor next to her.

Sierra walked in the classroom and spared only a split second to glance up at the professor sitting in front of the room. Her eyes very briefly looked into her mother's eyes, and she swallowed hard. She couldn't bare to look any longer, though, so with a quick blink, she was back to just staring at her feet. Her lip wibbled like she might cry any second, but she never did. She sat down in her seat and took out her Potions text. She could just quietly read before class got underway...
What she was really doing, though, was avoiding looking at her mother. This was the hardest thing she'd ever been through. Even harder than what had happened with her birth mother. Maybe it'd just be best if this class hurried and ended...
There were just way too many people asking if her mother was alright. Even though Sierra knew they meant well, it just made it so much harder to hear them. She just wanted to cover her ears and block it out. Wonder if she could get an excuse for staying out of class today?

Right. Potions. That was... like chemistry, right? Sutton wasn't as good at chemistry as she was at physics, but she wasn't awful at it either. Walking into the classroom, she was taken aback by the somewhat somber mood. The professor didn't look well...
Smiling as though nothing was wrong, she greeted the woman, "Hello, Professor! I'm Sutton Piatek!" It was good to introduce yourself, yes?
Addy didn't like the dirty old dungeons, but she did enjoy Potions class... good with the bad and all that, right? Making her way in she immediately smiled at Lafay, keeping any comments about her appearance to herself, and said, "Good day Professor, glad to see you back." Mhm.
Now as she glanced around her eyes fell first on Vickers, who got a nod in his general direction, and then... MILTON. HMPH. She narrowed her eyes and walked straight toward him, plopping into an empty seat next to him. Friends close, enemies closer. Yep.

Reason: bolding names...
Lewis had been looking forward to the first potions lesson of the term. Especially considering the last potions lesson he'd attended hadn't exactly ended that well. What with half the class - including him and, most importantly, Kurumi - freezing half-way through it. Plus this was his last year here at Hogwarts and he was planning on enjoying every minute of it.
Though, Professor Lafay didn't seem to share that sentiment.
Stopping behind a couple of students, the Hufflepuff Prefect blinked a couple of times as his eyes narrowed slightly in worry. Their Potions Mistress looked seriously sick. Like REALLY sick. Like she hadn't slept in a week. Or had tried a potion to make her look older. But who would do that? Nobody Lewis could think of so he went back to his first theory. Either way though, she didn't look well at all.
Finally passing the professor's desk, Lewis directed a concerned frown at her but had been taught not to point out other people's obvious misery so he decided to keep his mouth shut about that. "Good day, Professor." Yes, that was a lot better. More neutral. And in no way implying that she looked as if somebody had just resurrected her from the dead.
Rumour was that the Potions mistress was back. Was this really all true? Nessie'd have to find out for herself. The red head headed out towards the dungeons and cringed a little as she stepped into the potions classroom. She didn't like this area of Hogwarts at all, partly because of it's inhabitants, such as Dylan and Rich. but also because it was held some sort of creepiness to it. Whatever it was, it was not what she was very focused on at the moment.
O_O
Professor Lafay WAS here! Aaaand as rude as it sounded she looked TERRIBLE! Don't stare! Don't stare! Was all Nessie could keep telling herself as she walked post Lafay's desk. She could barely even utter her greeting. "Mor..morning, Professor." she said quietly and then headed back on her way.
Scanning the room, the captain went right to the end of the classroom and took a seat down there.
Ethan crept silently through the dungeons as he headed to the Potions Classroom. The fifth year lingered in the doorway for just a moment as he fixed his eyes on the Potions Mistress. She looks awful, he thought as he resumed his gait towards the student tables.
"Good Morning, Professor," he greeted the woman solemnly and gave her a respectful nod as he walked past. She must be pretty fierce if she's going to teach a class in that condition and not find a sub. Hopefully it was not contagious. Green eyes scanned the class, looking for an empty seat. Finding one at the far end of the room, Ethan headed that way and sat down.

Silvia made her way down to the dungeon classroom, her bag slung over her shoulder. She did not care for Potions very much, or the cooler dungeon halls. But nevertheless, she wasn't going to miss class. When she reached the classroom, there were many students there already.
"Hello Professor." Lafay didn't look well, even worse than last term. But Silvia chose not to comment on her appearance, figuring that Lafay might prefer not to talk about it. Instead she quietly took her seat and pulled out her book and parchment.

Potions was a lesson that Terry was sure he would enjoy. It sounded fascinating and fun and he knew that it would be completely useful in the future. His mother used potions quite frequently and he couldn't wait to learn how to brew them himself, although it really depended on what they were planning on making.
He didn't have far to go seeing as he was previously relaxing in the Common Room. He had left in quite a hurry however, grabbing his textbook and bag and rushing straight out of the room. He wandered into the classroom, looking towards the front where the Professor was. "Hello--" he paused spotting the expression on her face. His lips fell into a slight frown, he didn't like it when people looked down and ill. He was such a cheerful person most of the time. "--Professor. I hope you're okay" he smiled at her in a hopeful way before taking a seat near the middle of the classroom.

Lana still wasn't completely sure how she felt about it, but here she was once again. She would make the attempt and maybe she was just one of those late bloomers when it came to understanding it. It wasn't like she didn't find it interesting, she just didn't completely understand it like she thought she should.
Quickly walking into the classroom, she headed for a seat near the middle of the room. The middle worked for her. Spotting Lafay in the front, she gave a tiny wave and quickly greeted her professor. "Good day Professor," she voiced as she settled into her seat.
She wasn't one to give much to the whispers around the castle, but a small part of her was a bit concerned at how their professor was looking. She hoped it wasn't something terrible. She would never truly wish anything bad on anyone.

Finally able to remember her timetable without aid, Ariadne realized she was running late for Potions, so she dashed to the dungeons, finishing the scone she had been eating on the way. One last bite and a quick swallow just before entering the classroom.
BLINK.
Lafay looked...horrible. There was no nice way to put it. Trying not to gape, the girl went past the Professor and greeted her normally. 'Good morning, Professor.' But that was it. No inquiries into her health. It was obvious she wasn't feeling all right, and she probably wouldn't appreciate an interrogatory.
Finding a seat at the middle of the classroom, Ariadne dropped her bag on the floor and sat in silence.
Belle was making her way to the potions classroom. Aaaahh potions. She loved potions class and was excited to learn something new. She noticed the professor wasn't looking too good. "Good morning Professor Lafay." Belle said with a sweet smile. She didn't ask her how she was feeling since it was kind of obvious from the look of her.
Belle took her seat in the front of the classroom and took out her notebook from her bag and was ready to take notes.

She entered the class, a bit surprised that she was one of the early birds. And one look at Professor Lafay shocked her. Lafay seemed.. opposite of what she usually was. Pale, and non-glaring. Quite a change! Wonder what had happened?
"Er.. Good day Professor Lafay.." Should she ask if Lafay was well or not? Merlins only knew how she would react! Nope, better to stay quiet. Or not. Unable to resist herself, Ira asked, "A..Are you okay, Professor?"
Did the room just grow more cold? She wrapped her sweater a bit more close.
"Just Fine, Miss Wilson." She said waving it off.

"Good day Professor Lafay," he greeted the woman politely though deep down he wondered if it was in fact good for her. She looked downright horrid, not that he was going to comment or even make known that he noticed a change. No doubt it would only evoke some sort of negative response from the Slytherin head of house. He then simply moved to take one of the stations at the front of the room.
"Good Day Prefect Gert," She said greeting the Gryffindor seventh year.

Harlow walked into the potions classroom and stopped as she started to shiver a bit. It was always cold in the potions classroom when the cauldrons weren't on and it took a minute for the body to adjust.
After her teeth stopped chattering she approached the Professor. "Hi Professor Lafay. I made this for you." She held out a little ceramic pot with a large cork stopper. "When I'm sick my mom makes me hot coco. So I made the dry mix for you. Just add warm milk and stir." It was a comfort thing for Harlow and she gathered the professor could use some comfort as she still looked as if she were having tea with the Grim Reaper.
She looked down at the ceramic pot. "Hot cocoa you say..." She had a half a mind to tell the child something so minimal could not cure her, and how stupid she was for thinking it... but she needed to control her temper if she was going to ride this out. "I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try a homeopathic remedy..." She took the pot and said. "Thank you."

Meh, just said that you're lazy, Gerald!
The blonde guy entered the classroom at saw Professor Lafay was already there. Was she sick or something? Because she looked very pale and unhealthy. But well... even she's the Slytherin Head of House, he didn't care. He just gave a small nod and greeted her. "Good day, Professor." Then he walked to a seat at the corner.
"Good Day Master Rush," she told the handsome boy... maybe she should point Sierra in his direction.

She greeted cheerfully before heading right towards the nearest empty seat. She sat quietly, removing her parchment and quill before looking around. Merlin knew that if Lafay was still under the weather, she probably wasn't in the best mood. That explained why the classroom seemed to be so quiet, yeah?
"Hello Miss Bishop." she said.

"I'm fine Miss Carter." She lied to the girl.

"Miss Johansson. Good day to you." She told her.

She then saw the Professor behind her desk, looking pale. She walked near her and bet a phrase,"Good day, Professor. Are you alright? You don't look that good?", Befelda asked.
"Well thank you for that Miss..." she looked at her roster, "Miss Solster, but I assure you, I'm fine."

Kat had a nervous face. She was scared as well. But then she took a seat.
"Fine Miss Hudson." She said through her teeth.

Sierra...

"Miss Greingoth, no matter what the circumstances, I expect respect from my students and for them to greet me or any other professor, upon entering their classroom." She gave her a sad smile, "Don't make me owl your father."

"Hello Master Piatek, do find a seat." She said unimpressed.

Now as she glanced around her eyes fell first on Vickers, who got a nod in his general direction, and then... MILTON. HMPH. She narrowed her eyes and walked straight toward him, plopping into an empty seat next to him. Friends close, enemies closer. Yep.
"Good Day Miss Kennedy." She said getting up from her desk and walking around to the front.

"Prefect Rasting. Hello." She said with a nod.

"Morning Miss Dixon." She said.

She must be pretty fierce if she's going to teach a class in that condition and not find a sub. Hopefully it was not contagious. Green eyes scanned the class, looking for an empty seat. Finding one at the far end of the room, Ethan headed that way and sat down.
"Good Morning Master McCarthy." She said.

"Hello Professor." Lafay didn't look well, even worse than last term. But Silvia chose not to comment on her appearance, figuring that Lafay might prefer not to talk about it. Instead she quietly took her seat and pulled out her book and parchment.

"Hello Master Radley, I am just fine. I'm here aren't I?" She said to the boy getting a little irate.

"Good day Miss Hyde," she said to the young girl.

"Good Morning to you Miss Marchbanks," and gave her a nod.

Belle took her seat in the front of the classroom and took out her notebook from her bag and was ready to take notes.
"Good Morning Miss Lecium" she said greeting the girl.
"Alright you may or may not have heard, I'm a bit under the weather..." Understatement of the year... "But I will be just fine. Healers are working around the clock, so don't think I'm leaving you anytime soon."
"Let's start class, shall we? Can anyone tell me IF and What they dreamed last night?" She asked the class.
Puff by day, snake by night | Mj's bestie | Always UP to Something...
Minerva frowned.. Under the weather she didn't like hearing that, but Lafay was not going to give in to anything not even an illness. Listening to the question she thought that was an odd one to be asked in potions class, but she shrugged and put her hand up. "Professor last night I had a dream that I had fallen in the lake and couldn't swim. There were students there watching, but no one cared to save me. They just pointed and laughed as I struggled to try and stay above water." she shuddered and glared over towards Maxwell.. yes he was one of the ones laughing watching her die in that lake.
Nigel was lucky he did survive his first year, But it was this year that might kill him. He had already broke an arm in Hurricane Bellaire. He had no idea what else this year would bring. He could not remember what he dreamed about last night. But he could tell her what he just dreamed about in Divination. Nigel raised his right hand. Due to his left arm still hurting.
"My dream was a Eagle and a Badger killing a Sea Creature"
Nigel still wondered if the eagle was him, the badger was Elijah and the Sea creature was Professor Elwood. But Nigel was not sure.

Good. So Professor Lafay was sick but not sick enough to erm...do something scary like pass out in class. Ella was relieved to hear it as she wasn't the best in situations like that. She looked at Sophie, giving her a small smile before turning her attention the the question that had been asked. Dreams? Hmm. What had Ella dreamt about? Oh! Quidditch!
The small third year raised her hand, ready to share. "I dreamt about Quidditch, Professor. I was teaching my little brother how to play." And this wasn't surprising as the sport was on her mind most of the time now that Quidditch season had rolled around.
Maxwell raised his hand. "I had a nightmare...I'd rather not get into it, if that's all right, Professor.." He didn't expect special treatment but he lost his mother and his nightmares were full of that, not something fun to talk about in front of the whole class.
Elliot smirked at Maxwell, but didn't really say anything...because Lafay was starting class...she didn't want to make the ill woman mad or anything. She was probably in a fouler mood than usual because of it, you know. Illness does that to people.
The Ravenclaw raised her hand..."I dreamed that I lost in...a forest. With no one..and apparently I didn't know how to do magic..." she shuddered. No magic...Merlin, that sounded awful. She didn't even think she had a wand in her dream...
What an AWFUL dream.

Belle smiled when she greeted her. Belle was glad the professor was getting better and she won't have to worry about it. Belle was glad the class was starting and she wondered if she dreamed last night.
Actually Belle did have a dream..."Professor i had a dream where i was sailing on a sail boat back with my family...but then i was dragged down to the depths by a sea monster. It was human but it had scales." Belle said while blushing. She usually didn't like sharing her dreams in class but this one was a strange one.
