Default The Office of Professor Elwood

{Graphic by sweetpinkpixie}

One of the first words that most people would think upon entering the office of the Divination Professor would be cluttered. Its new inhabitant had filled the tiny space with everything she could fit in there that she had once had to haul around with her in her wagon. Books lined the entirety of the rounded wall that made up the back of the office, some of which were muggle classics along with journals and guides about various methods of fortune telling from around the world.

In the corner beside the door, the wagon that once served as her home, vehicle and business site stood, looking oddly out of place inside of a closed off room. It was made of dark wood, and had an old-timey circus-like draping hanging from its front and back with the words 'The Magnificent Clairvoyant Harmony Peacekeeper!' scrolled across it in faded gold calligraphy.

In the center of the room there is a small wooden desk with more papers and books stacked on its surface, a deck of Tarot cards were also laying, half-shuffled on one of the stacks, and a large crystal ball sat dormant on the desk’s corner. Two mix-matched chairs sat across from Professor Elwood's desk for the students to relax in and discuss with her anything they so desire.

Lastly there is a four foot tall bird perch that stands beside the desk that is the home of Calista's pet parrot, Galileo. She received him as payment back in her old line of work telling fortunes and she has enjoyed his company ever since.

Come on in!

OOC: Please do not post in here until your character has been invited in. To be invited in first please post your character arriving at, and knocking on the door to Professor Elwood's office. Do this in the 'Seating Area' Outside Professor Elwood's Office thread.

Who Am I? Ern's 2460FUN

For a moment, the redhead thought that she had gotten away. Just after she'd knocked on the door she panicked and turned around to scurry back down the stairs to the safety of the common room. However, she was not going to escape this meeting. Fate was not on her side, for just when she turned to leave Professor Elwood opened the door and greeted her warmly. She froze in shock when she heard the voice of her professor. She contemplated briefly escaping, aborting her mission and ignoring the greeting altogether. But then she realized that she wanted this professor to not think ill of her, she was someone that Selina was going to have to deal with for at least the duration of the year.

Then she remembered how fond she was of Professor Elwood's lesson. The last time she had enjoyed divination was when Professor Bishop was still teaching at Hogwarts, and that was long before the horse to come to town. Now that she had an actual proficient divination teacher, Selina did not want to throw away any chance they would have at getting along by running away. But her fear was gripping on her heart, she could feel it beating rapidly.

Divination was, for obvious reasons, Selinas best subject in school. Usually teachers found that Selina was a good student, but nothing like how good she was in divination. She had a natural ability at the subject, which helped when one was a Seer. Of course, she was not prone to telling many people about this ability. Selina had always felt it made her somewhat of a freak show, someone who didn't exactly fit in. It was not normal for someone to see the future. It was not normal for anyone to see anything besides what was in front of their eyes. But Selina saw more than that, she saw the future on a daily basis.

That was why she was so terrified of meeting this teacher. She was afraid that for one the teacher figure out her ability, and to that the teacher would judge her or her ability. The only teacher who had ever known that Selina had that skill set was Professor Bishop and she was no longer teaching at the school. It was something that Selina dealt with on her out because no one had ever taught her how to be Seer. She did not expect this teach to help her in any way, but when they were in class something kept nudging at Selina's inside. Something kept telling her that it would be wise to visit her Professor.

So she turned around and looked at her professor and said, "Um hello there Professor, my name is Selina and I was the one who won with Kurumi, yeah.". Then per her professor's suggestion, the Quidditch captain stepped inside her office. It was nice and cozy and very typical of what a divination professor's classroom would look like. She was liking her more and more by the minute, but she still felt very uncomfortable. As she waited for her professor to enter she commented, "You have a lovely room."

"Selina, yes of course." Yeah she sort of remembered that name. But hadn't there been two of them? She could have sworn that was that Slytherin Head Girl's name too. Oh well. The Gryffindor one was in her office right now.

Her office was lovely, she really thought so? Well she was liking this girl already. "Thanks dear, I was expecting something bigger but I couldn't pass up an office so close to my classroom and well all my stuff at least fit in here." Even if it was a tad cramped, but really cramped was almost the same as cozy. One had to stay optimistic.

"Go ahead and take a seat," she said gesturing to one of the chairs infront of her cluttered desk and then taking her own across from it. She absent-mindedly rearranged some books and stacks of paper as she waited for the girl to bring up what brought her here today, but before she could do so Calista couldn't help but ask what had been on her mind.

"I was curious, what does your badge represent? Are you a Prefect too?" Even though it didn't have a 'P' on it, perhaps it was like a deputy one?

As Selina settled into her seat inside Professor Elwood's office, the woman sweetly thanked her for the compliment on her room. She could see what Elwood meant by the proximity to the classroom. When Professor Bishop was in school she distinctly remembered how her office was a long ways away from the divination classroom. Every time Selina went to visit it was such a hassle. Then the horse... Well... He was in the stables or something. She really disliked him. She could not even pretend that she missed his company. But Elwood and her small office seemed to fit her. There was nothing about her personality that begged for a huge office. Selina liked that about her.

She agreed with her Professors sentiments by nodding. Then the attention shifted to the badge sitting comfortablely on Selina's robes. When she asked what her badge meant Selina sat up straighter and puffed out her chest. This was a thing that she would gladly explain because she was very proud of her badge. As if ruffling her feathers Selina said proudly, "It's the Quidditch Captain badge. I'm Gryffindor's Quidditch captain.". Which basically meant that she was given a shiny badge to just get to do what she loved- playing Quidditch.

Then she caught sight of the bird in the corner. Selina cocked her head to the side and eyed the bird. She vaguely remembered the bird being present in divination, but she could not be sure. So she asked Professor Elwood, "Excuse me, ma'am? Is that your bird?"

Quidditch...duh. How in Merlin's tea leaves had she not guessed that?

"How wonderful, congradulations Selina!" That really was quite the accomplishment, she got to lead her house in the Quidditch matches they held here against the other houses. "Well I guess that gives me a reason to attend the matches then, huh?" She hadn't really officially met any of the other Quidditch players but now that she thought of it, that 'QC' badge was on the robes of that one Slytherin that had been caught up in the runaway wagon.

"That's a very big honor, who picks the Qudditch captains, the Headmaster?" He must have seen something good in her, or perhaps her skills are beyond ordinary on the pitch? Calista had never flown a day in her life so she wouldn't be able to tell a good Quidditch Player from a bad one.

Her attention suddenly being pulled away from Quidditch, Professor Elwood turned to look at her parrot sitting in the corner. He had been awfully quiet today. "Yep, that's Galileo. He's still adjusting to our new home." She nodded seriously. Who knew birds could be so moody?

Selina chuckled when Professor Elwood congratulated her on her badge. She nodded and gratuitously accepted the praise, "Thank you, Professor. Although, I have been Captain for two terms now.". Two very awesome terms, even though her second of the two terms had just started earlier that month. But she liked being captain. Selina sort of had an obsession with Quidditch, so as captain she got to share her enthusiasm with her team and house. Besides, it was a great way to show school spirit. Some of her best memories in school revolved around Quidditch like the pep rally her third year where she got to paint all of the boys chests. Who knew that they all had such SPIRIT under their shirts? It was a fond memory for sure.

When the conversation switched to the bird Selina watched Galileo as Elwood explained a little about him and his acclimation to Hogwarts. The bird watched Selina just as intently as she kept her eyes on him. It was almost like they were sizing up each other because technically Selina was in his territory, but divination was Selina's territory so he was in her place too. That was all insignificant thought though. Technically the bird won out, but only because Selina broke their staring match to look at Elwood.

"He's a curious little bird, isn't he?". Curious and cool. Yeah the bird was alright in her book even if he won the staring contest. But Selina could not win every match against the opposite species, giving up a few wins proved that humans had the compassion to be losers... Meh.

Then suddenly Selina remembered where she was and grew awkward. It was not a good idea to have come. She chewed on her bottom lip before asking, "Forgive me if I am being forward, but do you have any practice in divination? What I mean is how did you get involved in divination?". What was the history there? She did not want to pry, but could you blame a seer for being curious. She could see the future not the past.

She had been captain for two terms, and she had just congradulated her on the accomplishment as if she was new to it? Wow. Callie felt awkward now. She just smiled for a second and then looked around the room, focussing on crack in the wall with a hazy stare before being pulled back into the conversation by Selina's mention of Galileo again.

"Yes, he's not used to being around so many people all the time. I brought him to my first lesson to try and accilmate him but he wasn't very appreciative later." She held up her arm to show a 3-4 inch scrach down the inside of her forearm. "He was more than cranky later that evening." She eyed him and then stuck out her tongue at the bird. Hopefully he would shape up soon so she could let him out to play with the kids.

She could use the quiet while she napped.

Any practice in Divination? Her, Calista Elwood? Wow that question was a tad bit forward and Callie definately wasn't expecting a student to question her abilities to teach a subject she was hired to teach by the Headmater. Hoping her facial expressions hadn't given away her surpise, Professor Elwood shook her head and then spoke to her.

"Of course dear and the question isn't too forward, since you asked it so politely." She smiled again smally. "I excelled in Divination at Salem Magical Institute in Massachusetts back in the States and upon graduation I came to the UK and attened Wizarding University to begin specializing in the Noble Art." She had had some... experiences with the public that would account for the subject matter of her first lesson and the wagon that was currently in her office that served as her bed but that was a different story.

"Once I left University with degrees in both orthodox and unorthodox methods of Divination, I was hired at the Ministry of Magic as an Unspeakable in the Department of Mysteries." Yes, that always got some excited looks when she told people that. They always then of course bombarded her with questions about her job which was unfortunate because she wasn't allowed to speak about the details. "I worked in the Hall of Prophesies." When she said this she gave the girl a look, an intense look that meant pay attention to what was coming.

"And then I was in between jobs when Headmaster Tate hired me to come here. Oh and I am, as you probably are wondering a Seer." She added that last bit as an aside because people tended to either write you off as a loon at first or tune into just that and not listen to her other credintials.

The redhead chuckled at Professor Elwood as she went on about the bird. She coulf tell, just by the way the bird surveyed the room, that he was not the type to acclimate well with other people. Perhaps, he was comfortable around professor Elwood. He should be since she was his owner, but the rest of the students she could not be sure. In fact, she had not even noticed him in the lesson. It was like he was treating into his shell so no one else did notice his precence, because Selina surely had not.

With a nod of understanding Selina said, "Yeah, I mean I have an owl and they can get pretty moody when it comes to attention." Hermes always hid in the recess of his change when ever he was in the dorms. Girls or any type of attention made him bashful at best. This was not a bird highly different from her own. Although Elwood's bird was a lot better looking than Selina's beaten down old bird.

Then professor Elwood went into her history about her qualification. For a moment she felt very awkward for having have imposed and asked about the past events. It was something that fascinated Selina. Elwood had a fascinating resume, although when she brought up the department of mysteries Selina visibly shrunk. That had always been Selina's fear- that she would be some freak to the ministry. Elwood was one of the people who probably controlled and manipulated the seers.

Until Elwood said one thing... She was a Seer. Selina's face broke into a smile, she was not alone. It was so nice to know that there were other people around doing good work with their ability. For a second Selina felt compelled to exclaim her excitement. She stopped herself and instead asked very swiftly, "Erm.... How old were you when you got control of your ability...?" She wanted to know.

"Oh an Owl must be a handy pet as well as a nice one to have for company, when they aren't moody of course." She nodded as she thought about it. They were able to bring your mail to and for you, they were good hunters if you had a rodent problem--yeah they were good. Galileo wasn't able to deliver mail but at least here there was a whole slew of owls she could use for that, and she didn't even have to pay.

The look on Selina's face when Professor Elwood mentioned herself being a Seer was very nice, not everyone fully appreciated that fact. She was ready to ask the Gryffindor a question of her own, why she was so curious but was asked another one. Besides, the girl was just curious mainly because she was a new Professors. The others were probably being asked the same type of things.

And then a Seer question....?

"Well..." Calista paused for a moment as she looked back at her childhood. "There had been visions early, like when I was 10 or 11 but those were always very short and uncontrollable, sort of like underage magic?" Yeah she would understand that right? "But it wasn't until about my sixth year at Salem Insititute that I was beginning to grasp my abilities fully. I, uh...it happened after my parents passed away." The car crash that she wasn't able to predict, the one she had blamed herself for for so many years.

"After that I had a spout of about six months where I didn't have any visions at all but then one day I could begin to control them." Hopefully that's what she meant, it was usually pretty hard for non-Seers to really understand.

"After that I had a spout of about six months where I didn't have any visions at all but then one day I could begin to control them." Hopefully that's what she meant, it was usually pretty hard for non-Seers to really understand.

Sixth year? That thought made Selina want to curl up in a ball. Why did it take so long? Merlin, she had been struggling with this for years and when Elwood said that she was a Seer as well, Selina thought, just for a moment, that she was going to finally have a clear cut way of dealing with her ability. The way that Elwood was explaining things though it sounded like every Seer's journey was different. Which meant, in liamens terms, that Selina was not even guarenteed to have her ability sorted out by her sixth year. After a while the whole Seer thing became very old and all Selina wanted to do was work it out so she could have a firm grasp on it.

Clearing her head of all of her negative thoughts, Selina piped up, "Your sixth year? Really... it takes that long? I would think you could do it sooner, you know?" More like she hoped it would take sooner than later. The less time she had to worry about things going wrong the better. Alas that did not seem like that would be the case. She would have to wait more.

Then it registered in her head... her parents died. Feeling awkward for not having addressed it sooner she said, "Oh I am so sorry about, well, your parents. That is terrible loosing someone you love." Selina knew that first hand. Of course, she supposed that things were very different with Elwood than Selina.

Disappointment. That was the emotion Callie could see written all over the Gryffindor's face and really didn't understand why.

Apart from Selina just feeling bad for the torture the Divination Professor had gone through only getting visions whenever she least expected them as a young girl, she had no idea why the girl had seemed so concerned with it all

Unless....

But before she was able to ask, the sixth year added her regards on the issue of her late parents. "Oh, it's ok. It's in the past." Callie waved a hand at it. Nothing they could have done, she hadn't had grasp of her visions yet. She had mostly forgiven herself for that.

No more avoiding what she wanted to ask the girl now. The tables were turned. She cocked an eyebrow and looked at the student sitting across from her. "Selina...don't be mistaken, I do enjoy talking about myself but, why is it that you are so interested in this topic of conversation?"

Selina sat on the edge of her chair listening to every word that Elwood was putting out to her. Everything the older woman said was fascinating to Selina and she was intrigued by the other Seer in the room. Growing up without another person to help her through all of her visions or at least tell her what it was like to live with visions had been difficult. Besides, she was not too proud of her ability, so Selina was not too partial telling people about it to even recieve any help. It was just one of those things in her life she was in the dark about and Elwood had insight... no pun intended.

The redheaded girl was genuinely sorry that Elwood had lost her parents. Selina understood what it was like to loose someone she cared about, so she sympathized with her Professor. Beyond that though she did not want to pry into the woman's personal matters. It was not the place of a student to inquire about a Professor's personal life. So when she told Selina it was in the past and alright she simply nodded. There was no need to expand on that.

Then Selina saw something flash in Elwood's eyes. The fifth year was confused as to what revelation she had just offered up to her Professor, but she found out soon enough when her Professor spoke....

Selina...don't be mistaken, I do enjoy talking about myself but, why is it that you are so interested in this topic of conversation?

She froze in her seat as those words sunk in. Did Elwood know that Selina was a Seer? Did older Seers have some kind of radar power to seek out other Seers? DID SHE KNOW??? Trying to act calm and demure, Selina folded her arms in her lap. "Why am I so interested in this topic?" she repeated, "Well... I'm just interested I guess. I mean, I have an affinity for Divination-" THAT was an understatement, "I'm just curious I guess." And a Seer... but that was beside the point... or it was the point... but she did not want to be judged.

The kind sentiments expressed by Selina about the loss of Callie's parents did indeed touch her and make her happy to have been given such thoughtful students but that did not defer her attention nor suspicions as to why the Gryffindor was so curious about Seers.

"Yes...well it is a very interesting subject, no argument there." The Divination Professor spoke, changing her tone of voice back to conversational. "Seers are rather rare and it would make sense for someone who is completely void of the talent or gift to be curious."

Another slight pause in which Callie dug around in her top desk drawer, retrieving a box filled with licorice wands, the ones she had taken from the Library during the first book club meeting. "Here you can take one if you like." She sat the container onto of a few books, close to Selina.

"So, is any of the rest of your family curious about Divination?" Yes, very subtle. The blone smiled sweetly as she bit off a piece of candy.

Carigan entered the office as the proffessor had gestured her to do. She smiled when she entered at the great cluttered mess. It felt just like home, it did. Th crazy clutter and that feeling that someone, or something, knows a little more than you do.

Carigan turned around to look at the professor once more and smiled, she wasn't as nervous anymore. "You know, professor, your offce reminds me of home." she said with a twinkle in her eye.

Selina watched Professor Elwood very carefully as the woman seemed to mull over in her head the words that Selina had presented her with. No doubt it was not what the woman wanted to hear, but Selina was not going to tell her about her ability. She had the good fortune of never being judged about her ability her entire life and that was because Selina had been very careful about who she told about her ability. Her parents did not know about her ability, although after Danny she supposed that they had to have an idea, her family minus Aunt Jennette didn't know; only a small group of her friends and Professor Bishop knew about her ability. It was not a large pool at all, so Selina was always hesitant to reveal to anyone her ability. And she was not going to tell Elwood without knowing the woman better.

She was glad to see that the Professor moved away from that subject so easily. Maybe Elwood was not suspicious, maybe it was all in Selina's head. So she, in a very trusting manner, followed Elwood'd lead as she changed the subject. "Yeah, I've always personally been interested in the subject. I think it is so fascinating because it must be such a burden to live with that responsibility.." Then she realized she was talking about Elwood too, "OH, erm, I'm sorry I didn't mean... what I meant to say is... I'm sorry I didn't realize." Great she had just made a slight at her own ability, but also Elwood's ability as well.

Trying to move away from her awkward comment, Selina took the licorice wand offered to her and took a bite of it, "Thank you, ma'am."

When Elwood moved into her family, Selina was so distracted by the candy that she went off, "Well, my Aunt Jennette loves Divination and all because she is proud of what she does and everything. But my parents like to pretend it doesn't exist and stuff..." Especially since her sister died because of it. Then she realized what she said and her eyes widened. She took a rather large bite of the licorice wand and said, "This is delicious ma'am, where did you get it?"

...awkward.

As the Hufflepuff entered the office, Callie closed the door behind her and turned to offer her a seat.

"Aww, well then take a seat and make yourself comfortable." The Divination Professor grinned and walked around her desk, stepping over a few stacks of books and took a seat herself, the one across from the student who needed to ask her a question.

"Aright dear, what can I do for you?" She asked the question sweetly and placed a strand of her blonde hair behind her ear.

...awkward.
Something was definately up and watching Selina squirm uncomfortably at all things Divination and having to do with Callie's own Seer abilities should have made her uncomfortable too but it didn't, they actually made her want to giggle.

"Selina, it's fine. Don't worry about it. I've accepted my power to see the future and I will live with it. Your comment didn't hurt my feelings or anything." Elwood took another bite of her licorice wand and scrunched up her nose in a little grin.

More awkward silences to try and break the girl's attempts to distance herself from what she really wanted to talk about.

"You Aunt was proud of what she did? What did she do? Was she very familiar with Divination herself?" That would be an interesting story to hear. "Oh and the licorice is from Mr. Kitridge, the Librarian. I will send along your good words."

Carigan smiled and found herself a seat between two piles of books and various other objects and artifacts. "Thank you, professor." she smiled and she looked around the office for a moment before she answered the proffessors question.

"Well... I was just thinking the other day. My mother is a seer, she tells other magic folks futures and such, she also does some for the muggles in the town nearby our house. My mother is a seer, her mother, and her mother... It seems like all the women in my family have been seers. But what I'm wondering is, is it possible to have someone as an odd man out?" she asked before explaining a little further. "You see, I haven't had any of the 'traditional' signs of a seer or anything; however, I am very good with tarot cards, palmistry and tea leaves." she said trailing off. She had lost sight of the other question she had wanted to ask but at least she got this one out. Perhaps the other would come to her.

Callie placed her elbows on her desk as she leaned in closer to listen to the young girl's problem, she pressed the tips of her fingers to her mouth. When the girl was finished she began to speak, her tone full of sympathy.

"Well, dear the ability of Seeing is not as easy to track through a lineage as say, eye or hair color, so just because you haven't experienced anything like your mother or grandmother have doesn't mean you can entirely rule out the possibility that you too may be a Seer." She was remembering back to when she was first discovering her powers, she had been young, probably younger than the girl sitting across from her but that really wasn't saying much.

The girl seemed pretty upset about it, one that was looking forward to being a Seer--that was nice to see. "How old are you, about 11 or 12? You aren't any older than a second year are you? If that's so I personally didn't begin to receive visions until I was about 10 so maybe you are just a late bloomer?" She said trying to give the girl some hope. "This sort of thing is not layed out for a certain age so there really is no telling when or if you will get the power but it can happen."

She just hopefully had been taught by her family that she wouldn't have control of her visions if she just begins to get them soon and won't for many years, Calista herself still had trouble at times controlling them.

Carigan sat silently for a moment and mulled over what the professor had said. She nodded slowly. "I'm 12, yeah, It's just sort of frustrating, you know?" She said, more a rhetorical question than anything. "Now this might sound weird but is it possible for, like say, if you were a twin... if the possibility for you to be a seer to, like, diminish?" She let the question hang in the air for a moment before she hastily added "Sorry if I'm not making any sense..."

The girl certainly had proven to Callie in their short amount of time meeting that she was one of the one's who would react positively to discovering she had Seer abilities. At least she said she had family like that before her that had hopefully taught her about the hardships and responsibilities that came along with the 'gift'.

"It is frustrating Carigan, but anything that makes you different or can weigh this heavily on you and your future is." She spoke softly, twisting her wrist bands in the process.

The twins question sort of haulted Professor Elwood's thinking processes, momentairily. She hadn't expected that one. "Well, I suppose..." She started, thinking hard to recall what little she knew about birthing lingo and whatnot. She was surely no expert, the Healer would be a better person to ask about stuff pertaining to twins but the blonde doubted she would be much help for answering this question. "I would assume it's possible. Twins seperate from one egg during gestation and during that split you could have possibly been compeltely free of whatever it is inside of use that makes us Seers. You're twin, she's not...a Seer is she?" Callie asked of the girl curiously.

Carigan nodded silently as the proffessor spoke. She smiled at the curiosity in the professors tone when she had gotten to the subject of twins. "Not that I know of. She doesn't say much even when we are together." she explained, playing with the ends of her hair with her fingers. "I doubt she would say anything even if she was... she hates being special in anyway. She prides herself on being incredibly average. She also barely says a word to anyone but me." She explained. It was hard to really explain her sister, only people who had met her could truly explain what she was like.

How could you explain someone, your own flesh and blood, who begged your parents to let them go to a school far away from the one you were to attend.

Carigan came out of her state of reminiscing, which had only taken a moment, and looked at the professor. "I was wondering... is there any way to... induce... seeing abilities?

"Of course I stayed, professor--" Louisa slipped into the office as the woman held the door open for her.

Wow. Just... wow.

The Prefect's tugging curiosity faded drastically at all the books in the room. They were literally everywhere, her head moved from this direction to the other trying to fathom all those books and papers and-- WAGON? Her smile stretched into a grin. That explains... a lot. And the parrot! Louisa waved at him before returning her gaze to Elwood. "I like your office, professor." It was genuine. One of Louisa's rare moments with others; admiration.

SO... get down to business?

Seeing no apparent seats to sit on, the girl just continued standing where she thought was... less crowded and asked, "Why did Kurumi freeze professor? Is that her way of finding her... Inner Eye?" Highly unlikely.

Oh, that was kind of sad.

Callie didn't have any siblings and if she had had a twin, she would have wanted for them to be as close as possible, sharing secrets and spending as much time together as possible. "Well I bet you miss her while you are here." She said consolingly, the blonde assumed she wasn't here at the Castle or they would have probably come to visit together.

"Inducing?" The Divination Professor shuddered at the sound of that word. It sounded so...harsh, most likely the process would be too. "Dear, I would highly suggest not doing that. Séances and dark magic is about the only ways I could even phathom it being possibly, both of which I will not condone at Hogwarts." She didn't need the girl getting hurt or getting fired for telling her to do it. "It would be best and safest for you to just try and wait dear, if it were in the cards it will happen."

Wow. Just...

Professor Elwood made her way over to her desk but watched as the Prefect looked around her office, it seemed she liked it because of the smile appearing on her face.

It wasn't going to take too much time and since Lousia hadn't made to sit down, Calista wasn't going to force her too. The question she asked made goosebumps rise on the blonde's arms. "No, Miss Carter. I've never seen it happen like that before. To be honest I'm slightly worried."

Callie sighed and then looked at the dark haired Ravenclaw again. "Do you remember when your Head of House fell from his broom at the Quidditch Match? Well I heard he had this weird freeze up thing that Healer Tillstorm is working on but was it me or did Miss Hollingberry sort of do the same?" Although it wasn't as serious it still freaked her out, especially since the girl hadn't even realized it happened.

Carigan looked at the professor with sad eyes. "I do miss her, professor. She goes to a school all the way in Romania." She explained.

Carigans eyes widened "No, professor, I would never resort of seances or dark magic. Those are two things I would never do. Mother only had a few rules at our house and those two things were strictly forbidden. Especially Ouija boards and the like." She said. Picturing in her mind what her mother would do if she had brought a Ouija board into the house, probably would have involved one of the unforgiveable curses. She shuddered. Her mother wouldn't really do that but it could get to that level of crazy.

SHE KNEW IT. Louisa almost blurted that out the second Elwood said 'no', but her excitement wasn't a positive one. If that wasn't an Inner Eye symptom then...

GASP!

"I w-wasn't there in the game but my friend Lily told me..." she frowned thoughtfully, "She didn't tell me professor Vendictus froze up though. Just fell off." As the fact started to really get into her head, the Ravenclaw swallowed slowly. "Is he... unfrozen now? I haven't seen him lately." Was he still in the hospital wing. "Does Healer Tillstorm have any theories?"

Was it me or did Miss Hollingberry sort of do the same?

Louisa nodded her head vigorously, "She did freeze up. I would've said she blacked out but... the way she went on with her staring down at the stones.. It was like someone hit the 'pause' button on her, y'know." Cue a sigh from the girl as she dropped her gaze and stared thoughtfully for a few seconds.

"Don't you think.." she started again, "..ma'am.." for politeness' sake, coz Louisa needed professor Elwood to be on her good side. "..that they might be cursed? Like.. they could have a bad cursed amulet stuck to their... something? Maybe it's getting passed from one person to another-" GASPagain! "-Maybe one of us is next?!!" Squeak.

... she miiiiiight've gotten carried away with her rationalization.
