| | Arithmancy Two: Chaldean Numerology & Your Bridge Numbers It seemed as if the term seemed to be getting away from Josephina. Between the random student freezings and some rough patches on the pitch for her house, time just seemed to slip away. But before it got any later in the term, it was time for another round of numbers.
After making sure the desks were straight, she resumed her start of lesson position, by taking a seat on the desk at the front and then flicked her wand casually at the door to open it. Quote:
Welcome!
Take your seats, take out your notes from last lesson, and we'll begin shortly!
ooc: the lesson will begin in approximately 9-10 hours from now. Keep chatting to a minimum. Freshen up on the Arithmancy Rules if you need to and see you all in a couple of hours! =) Lesson has begun. I'll try and update this post with a progression of the lesson, but pay attention to my most recent posts in here ;D Lesson Progression
* Starting Lesson. Brief Q&A review session on the Chaldean System
* Moving on. What do Bridge Numbers tell us (generally speaking)?
* How do we calculate those aforementioned numbers?
* Includes quotes to examples for calculations. And point in the lesson where it's safe for YOU to go and calculate your own character's Life Path/Expression Bridge Number, using the Chaldean Method. |

Minerva walked into class and smiled, "Hello Professor. How are you today?" She then found her usual front seat and took out her notes and her book. She always wanted to be extra prepared for this class, because she didn't want to let Professor Hadley down and she always felt it was a weaker class for her. So being prepared had to be in order. She looked around noticing she was the first person in the class. It wasn't the first time Minerva was the first person she liked to be as early as possible and she took the time study her notes before the class started.

Jezzabelle made her way into the Arithmancy classroom and felt her confidence in the subject at hand soar. She wasn't great with numbers, but she was getting loads better as she stayed up later and later to read the text. She gave a cheerful smile and said, "Hello Professor." Taking a front seat she pulled out her supplies and organized them neatly in front of her for the class.

Ira entered the classroom, with a smile on her face. Yep, she was enjoying Arithmancy nowadays, which sometimes surprised even her. Anyways, she was glad to be an early bird.
Entering the classroom, Ira cheerfully greeted the professor, "Hello Professor Hadley" She smiled at Jezz and Minerva who were already there.
Then reading the message on the blackboard, she settled down and removed her notes made in last lesson. And waited for this lesson to start.

Chase Gallacher Environmental Protection | She'd done okay at Arithmancy at the last lesson... hopefully she could still be okay this time around. Glenn yawned as she entered the classroom, "Hello Profesor Haaaaaaaadley."
She sat down, rubbed her eyes and got out her journal. Looking over her notes before the lesson started couldn't hurt. After reading a sentence, she looked up and ecided to stare out the window instead. Working. Yes. |

Arithmancy!
Erin entered the classroom and greeted Professor Hadley with a smile, "Good day, Professor Hadley!" As much as she hated Arithmancy and numbers ever since her first year in Hogwarts, it felt relieving to deal with them and not with any other things. When she's doing something that involved numbers, it makes Erin focused so much and and not think of anything else.
She chose a spot next to Jezz and removed her bag from her shoulders. She smiled at her and said, "Hi!" Erin took out her notes and placed everything on her desk.

He went off to find a seat and hoped he would be be a bit better at today's lesson. Numbers sometimes confused him very much bu he was determined to not let them get the best of him. Perhaps today was the day?

Of all the subjects that Kurumi could be attending after that mess, Arithmancy was one to surely put the Gryffindor at ease. Numbers were constant. Numbers made sense. Numbers were comforting in a world of chaos. At least that is what she kept telling herself as she made her way to the classroom and slowly made her way towards her regular seat right down in front. "Good day, professor," Kurumi said with a small smile as she began to set her things out. Notes about the Chaldean Number System and her calculations from the previous lesson included.
Sighing softly, Kurumi once again looked at the vacant seat beside her. Winter vacation had been good though, seeing Treyen again and talking about a lot of things. She just missed him being next to her in Arithmancy.

Alyssa slowly walked into the Arithmancy class. She hoped that today's class would be an easy one as she was having another one of her splitting headaches. Trying to hide the pain that she was currently experiencing, Alyssa forced a smile on face and walked up to her Head of House and greeted her. " Hello Professor Hadley. It's good to be back for another lesson."
Then Alyssa looked around looking to see whether any of her friends had arrived before her and spotted Minerva. So she walked up to her. Quote:

| Shoe!Girl │ Rebel Ravie │ Confundus Queen │ RP Addict She still wasn't entirely certain that she'd even understand how to actually interpret her calculations accurately when it came to Arithmancy, but at least Stella felt safe. Crazy things rarely happened when all they were doing in the lesson was deal with numbers. No wands involved, or anything else that involved actual physical activity. Plus, as far as she knew, the strange freezings had ceased, so she no longer had to be paranoid there either. The only thing left to worry about was NEWTs, which was another reason she wasn't about to miss any lessons. Therefore, it was with a light step that she walked into the classroom. Dark eyes scanning the board, she mentaly noddded at the instructions. We're still dealing with the Chaldean system, then, she thought. That was perfectly fine, especially as it was different than the normal arithmancy.
Making her way to a seat near the middle of the room, she set he rbag down before giving the professor a smile. "Good day, Professor Hadley," she said, taking a seat before rifling through her bag for her supplies. Setting her notes from the previous lesson on the desk along with her textbook, she took a momnt to fight with Oberon over her quill, but prevailed and set that down on the desk as well. Now all she had to do was wait for the lesson to begin, and as such she slipped another sheaf of notes to go over some more NEWT studying while she had the time. At least that shouldn't bother the professor, as long as she paid attention once the actual lesson started.

Woohoo. Arithmancy again.
Chelle walked into the Arithmancy Classroom for the second time ever. She had had fun in the previous lesson, even though the calculations were a teensy bit confusing. She glanced at the board. Ooh, so we're still doing the Chaldean System, then. She shrugged. It's not like she minded. She took a seat and smiled at Professor Hadley. "'Morning, professor!" she said.

With all these weird things happening around Hogwarts, Nora was actually afraid to get out of the dungeons and attend any lessons. Well, she had no idea why she felt so safe in the dungeons, but she did. Maybe because she was surrounded by her fellow Slytherins.
She couldn't miss classes, though, so there she was, in the Arithmancy class. "Hello, professor," she said with a tiny smile on her face, making her way to her usual seat, and looking around her bag for her notes. There. She was ready for the lesson.

Vickers descended from the Eagle towers and turned towards the second floor, hitching up his book bag up on his shoulder as he entered the classroom. "Good day Professor Hadley" he greeted the Numbers Guru then glanced at the writing on the board. Slightly crestfallen, he turned for his usual seat, then went to bring out his parchment from last class. Yes the one that told him about others who wish him ill. He lay his notes across the desk then brought out some fresh parchment and his textbook...

Yay -maths... Arithmancy again, Sarah thought with joy as she made her way to the classroom. She sat down in the seat and began looking through her notes -what did they learn last lesson. Oh, yeah, that, the thing she had trouble with. She said to the professor "Good Morning, Last lesson after working out my score, I had some difficulty looking up the interpretation. What score it used for what interpretation?" Sarah said.

Numbers. YUUUUCK!
What was more horrid than taking an elective in a magic school? Taking an elective in a magic school that didn't really involve magic. Why had Elijah taken the class then? A) To keep his parents happy and B) The Professor was his Head of House and if he kept her happy then whenever he got into serious trouble she may go easy on him. It was called forward thinking. Would explain why Elijah enjoyed Divination so much.
In attempt to look the part for the class, Elijah walked in holding a large abacus. All of the beads of his abacus were a canary yellow to sport his house pride (and also to bring out the colour in his gorgeously dreamy eyes). He had no clue how to use one of the damn things, but he thought he could just move the beads about and pretend to be counting or something. Did Arithmancy even NEED abaci? Merlin only knew.
"Why hello, Professor," he greeted as he walked in front of her desk, making sure to subtly (or maybe not so subtly) show off his abacus. He pulled a small flower from his robe pockets and presented it to the Professor, "For you, Professor. You are looking extremely well today."
Always the charmer.
He made his way between the desks, noting who was currently present. He spotted Vickers nearby and Kurumi, both of which were ridiculously intelligent and both of which probably knew how to work his abacus if it came to that. Hm. Who to sit next to?
He decided on the 'Claw, figuring that keeping his distance from Kurumi voluntarily may make her want him even more. 'Playing hard to get,' as they say.
"Hellllllooooo Vickers!" he said cheerily, sliding his fine looking self into a chair beside him. Looking over his shoulder he gave Kurumi a small wave and a wink, that way she totally knew he was thinking about her at least. "How are we today, my fine 'Claw?" he asked, turning his attention back to his friend. "Do you like my abacus?"
Elijah briefly spotted the words on the blackboard and groaned somewhat. He didn't have any notes from last lesson... probably because he hadn't taken any last lesson out of sheer laziness. Thankfully Vickers seemed to have his, which made Elijah even more please about his choice of desk buddy. He pulled out some blank pieces of parchment and a quill before seeing how quickly he could shove a bead on his abacus from left to right.

To Ness Arithmancy was rather confusing at times, but she enjoyed the subject more because of the teacher that taught it. Professor Hadley always seemed to know how to make anything, especially numbers interesting. Nessie liked this of course and she liked these lessons too, even if they were challenging. Challenges were good anyways right? Thats what Ness had been told.
Today, Ness was in a good mood. It might have been her trip to the student garden that caused her to feel like she did, she had even managed to grab a few flowers for Hadley. They were white lilies and they looked really beautiful. Hopefully they would brighten up Hadley's day a little.
The red head smiled at her favorite teacher in the school. "Morning, Professor Hadley." she then handed over her bouquet of daises. "I erm..got these for you." she said shly and then smiled a little wider. Hadley hopefully would like these white lilies, they smelled nice too.
Once done talking with Hadley, the fourth year went off to find a seat.

Arithmancy, how numbers told things about you and your future and past. Asher didn't understand it. But Asher did like the fact that it was muggle math, except he wasn't to go at that either *frown* But the professor was nice.... and fun.
Asher walked on into the classroom with little bit of giddiness still, the side effects of the Billywig sting. After he finished the potions assignment it thought it would be fun to go and actually try to get stung by one. "Good morning, Professor Hadley!" He smiled as he spoke and walked by her desk.
He found a seat in the middle of the room. Reading the writing on the board he pulled out his notes from the last lesson out of his book and sat them on top of the book. He waited for the Hufflepuff head of house to begin the lesson.

Yayyyy! Arithmancy. Ella quite liked this class. Mostly cause she understood numbers. It was the one thing that made sense in her life right now. Mhmmm. Entering the classroom with a smile, the second year spotted her head of house and waved. "Hi Professor Hadley, nice to see you!" And she meant it. Now to find a seat, yeah?
The second year waved at Minnie and Alyssa on the way by by chose a nice spot in the middle of the room where she could see the board and Hadley clearly. Plopping down in her chair, Ella reached into her bag and removed her notes from last class, a quill, and some fresh parchment. She was ready to go.

It was certainly a useful counting aid. But before she could comment about him bringing a counting aid - something she never would frown upon if it helped one to understand the subject easier - the individual greeted her and presented her with a flower. And COMPLIMENTED her. In a charming, flirtatious manner. The last student she had do that was a Ravenclaw boy who was like a second year or something. But this boy was no first or second year.
But she knew just how to handle and ward it off. She smiled politely back at him. "Why thank you. Now if you would please, take your seat. This isn't charms class." Save your charms for Bellaire. You'll need them. Quote:

Where were these kids getting flowers in February anyway? Surely not picked. Had a flower store opened up in Hogsmeade that she'd been oblivious to before? "They're lovely, but please Ness, you shouldn't have." Ugh, gifts during a lesson were totally ... ugh.
So in other words, take your seat? Please? Right then. As it seemed many students had arrived, she probably ought to start the lesson. Standing up, she gave the students all another friendly smile. "So if you remember, last lesson, we discussed the Chaldean Method, and I had you work on your Expression Numbers using this number. We'll start with a little rapid-fire question-answer session to review your knowledge of this ancient system." "What number does the letter G correspond to?" ooc note: Lesson has officially begun. I'll be posting a few questions now and a few in a few hours from now to get some other timezones ... for a total of maybe 7-10 questions before we actually start stuff. |

The Chal..what method? This was why Ness had ought to pay more attention in class. The red head looked confused for a few moments, but then bits of the last lesson came back to her and she remembered having a few notes about this in her book. She opened up her bag and then took out her text book paging through till she found the right page.
There it was. The Chaldean Method. After reading for a few seconds, Ness found what she was looking for. She found the G and she looked at what number it corresponded to. She then raised her hand politely and a little eagerly glad she knew an answer for once. "Professor, the G corresponds with the number three..I think." she hoped it was right, otherwise this was just embarrasing.

Ira smirked, seeing the older Puff boy giving a flower to Professor Hadley, followed by Ness. Good idea they had, charming up their professor. But Ira wondered why.. it wasn't as if an exam was nearby, right? Hmm..
Anyways, Ira nodded as the lesson started. Rapid fire sounded good! Ira quickly raised her hand up, and answered, "Professor, it represents number 3." Yes, she had revised a bit.
