The school staff is seated on a dias high overlooking the Great Hall. You may approach them for conversation, but they probably deserve a peaceful meal as much as anyone else.
"Are you laughing at me, Oliver Jenkins?" Surely he wouldn't dare? At least he wasn't making any jokes. And he HAD been nice enough to help her up.
She supposed.
Oh.
Well
"I suppose."
Yes, she supposed that too. Althea shrugged one shoulder and then gingerly led the way into the Great Hall.
He decided it was best not to answer that. It's not like he meant to laugh, it had just come out.
Oliver followed behind her and did his best not to look but failed miserably and quickly moved to walk beside her. And here he thought Gemma was going to get him into trouble.
Once at the table, he looked at the selection of food and his stomach rumbled. The great hall was definitely a good idea. "I'm thinking we should take a bit of everything." Especially some of that trifle. He hadn't had trifle in years.

Of course it would. Variety was good. Oliver levitated a portion of each dish into the basket that Thea had so generously provided.
"Not bad." he answered with a grin. "Not a lot has changed since I was here." He levitated a bottle of water into the basket as well. "Everyone seems friendly. Well almost everyone. I might have upset the Healer." That was a bit of an understatement. He had caused her to faint in front of the whole school.
"But it's all good. You're an old hand here now. Got any helpful tips?"

Apparently Thea was a an old fashioned gal and liked the men to do all the heavy work. Bwhaha! Oliver tapped the basket to make it feather light before grabbing the handle with his hand.
"Yes it appears to be one big reunion, doesn't it?" Well it was bound to happen one day.
Oliver was not going to answer that, he just gave Thea a slightly sheepish look. How is it that he thought causing Cece to faint in front of everyone was the funniest thing until Althea brought it up. Now he felt like a moron. "Yeah, she was a year younger than me."
He chuckled a little. "Well this is my first teaching gig and I have to say I am a little nervous about the whole thing." He hadn't even told his friends that. They would have given him a hard time. "I've always been fascinated with Runes. Hopefully I can spice it up a little." Because he knew that not everyone liked them as much as he did.
Walking towards the exit of the great hall, Oliver raised his eyebrows. "The students don't like you?"

If it hadn't have been for the honking daffodils reminding her it was breakfast time, she would have completely missed it. So here she was.

Plus we sort of got followed by grindylows the whole time and Barty the Giant Squid popped up at the oddest of moments.... he was surprisingly helpful though, kind of acting like a guide when we were in the deepest part of the lake."

Taking a few petite bites of her toast, and chewing thoughtfully, she then set it back down on her plate and brushed the crumbs off her fingers.
Dash... of course. Seren rolled her eyes, her lips curling into a small smirk. "Ahh yes, I see your point... but you got yourself into that one." He had nobody to blame but himself. Not that Dash wasn't a good teacher, but he certainly needed a little personality adjustment. The man was far too serious for her liking, nothing at all like William. As for the grindylows and the giant squid.. "Sounds like fun, I'm sure the students were amused."

Seren didn't think Tate would appreciate the chat.. "Though I did have a Hufflepuff take a fireseed swimming." Not a very good idea, but they'd rectified the situation. Seren only hoped the boy wouldn't go and do something foolish again and kill the poor thing. Deaths were ever so sad.

William set his glass down and checked his watch. "I better go check on my animals. You should swing by some time! I don't have a Topiary like Waylon but I do some pretty creatures."

Raising her goblet in a mock toast, Seren couldn't help but smirk at the idea of William reprimanding a student for PDA. "I'm sure that would be a sight to see." And one that she would have to make certain to be around to see.
It was a shame William had to go already, she had rather enjoyed this little get together. Though on a close inspection of her watch, she realised it was probably time for her to get going as well. The greenhouses weren't going to tend to themselves. "I'd love to stop by some time... I haven't been in that part of the grounds since we were students."
In truth she had sort of avoided exploring the grounds too much, so as not to get nostalgic. The greenhouses and gardens were enough to entertain her.

He rose from his chair and then carefully pushed it in. "Feel free to, anytime! You're more than welcome to visit with the hippogriffs and thestrals and whatever else tickles your fancy. I trust you around animals, Seren." She wasn't like Dash who would probably kick an injured cruppy, after all, and she was good with plants. Plants and animals went together like marmalade and toast anyway.
"Good talking to you. Enjoy your breakfast!" Willy gave her a little wave as he stepped down from the dias and then exited the Great Hall. There, giving flowers to a pretty lady hadn't been so bad after all.

Lilly stepped up to the staff table, looking for the Gryffindor Head of House. It looked like she was about to go somewhere. "Professor Bently!" the Lioness said. "I have a...present for you? Because...you're a brilliant Head of House?" she added, without needing to. Now Lilly looked stupid. Ugg. After giving this to the Hebology Professor, she would probably go to bed. After doing homework. Which she had a lot of. Ugg. Lilly held out the frame, which she'd spent hours drawing. And drawing was her weak point. So it had took effort, which, usually, the blonde Gryffindor didn't have.

"Of course, I'll be there with bells on... not literally.." she said with a wink. Granted, he was right to trust her with animals, after all they were both the outdoorsy types, very hands on.. naturally plants and animals were not all that different. Life forms in their own right. "It's been good seeing you too.."
Alas, it was about time for her to head back to the greenhouses, but as she was about the get up to leave a student approached the staff table...

Not for the first time recently, she was confronted with a picture frame. "Oh thank you dear, it's lovely. Your transfiguration skills are certainly coming along nicely." Graciously accepting the gift, Seren admired the lovely silver frame. It would go perfectly in her office with the others, a nice eclectic assortment of frames. After all, one could never have too may. "Classes going well?"

Gideon was happy with the way his frame had turned out for his transfiguration assignment. Now he just hoped Professor Bentley liked it when he gave it to her. He had been trying to find his head of house to give it to her but he had struck out at her office and it was near meal time so he decided to check out the Great Hall for sight of the Herbology professor. Entering the high-ceilinged room and walking towards the front, all it took was a gaze at the staff table to see that she was indeed there and he relaxed.
"Good day Professor Bentley," he greeted with a polite smile as he came up to the table in front of her where another lion student already resided. Gideon spotted another frame and worried a little bit. Would it just seem like he had copied the same idea to give it to a head of house or would she believe he had thought specifically for her?

Ahhh yes, quidditch season. Oh how she loved it, and missed it... she could hardly wait for the first match. "Oh that's good to hear... I'm actually rather excited about it myself. I'm sure Selina's been training you quite hard." The girl was determined, there was no doubt about it, and Seren couldn't help but shake the feeling that her Captain was a bit of a shark when it came to quidditch.
She continued to listen as Gideon revealed he had also made her a picture frame. How delightful! And so nicely personalised too. She examined the frame, the eagle in the top right corner and the lion in the bottom left. This was definitely going on her cabinet.. or possible her bookshelf. Wherever it looked best perhaps. "Oh my... Gideon it's beautiful, and such lovely craftsmanship, kudos!"
If her Lion didn't get full marks for this, then she didn't know what would.
