Alyssa first picked up her spoon and slowly sipped the soup until it was half finished. Then she left the soup spoon to the side of the soup bowl lying face up on it's serving plate. Next she took her salad fork and delicately picked up the salad and made sure that she delicately poked on the fruit so that it didn't roll around or fly all out of her fruit salad cup. As she did that she listened to the Professor's next question. She thought for awhile before she raised her hand. "Professor when you are temporarily used with your utensil like the butter knife you rest it on the the side of your plate. The used utensil should never touch the table after it has been used ." |
Yum!! This had been tasting good especially for Eva who didn't eat too much but gee she would eat this a lot! Onto the question she again had no idea. Normally she put silverware down it was like a napkin or a plate. Hmm. Maybe she should answer that. Eva raised her hand and said "Do you put it on the right or on a plate?" |
Food... THIS was Selina's type of class. It seemed that whatever bad mood the door had put her in earlier was now long forgotten as the soup had been delivered. She picked up the proper spoon and delved into the delicious rich and hearty soup. If it were just a tad thicker she was certain it would have constituted as stew, but it was delicious none-the-less. So she happily ate her soup without slurping as she had been warned and was surprisingly quiet. Then again Selina was always quiet when food was on the table. It was just a reflex. THEN IT WAS GONE! She was about to raise her hand to ask where the food had gone She rose her hand to answer her Professors question and said, "Do you leave your utensils on the small plate in each of our settings?" |
louise tried the soup it was very nice, she put her hand for the next question, "you would put your fork on your plate if you put it on the table it will be very unkind also the table will get dirty she hoped she was right |

SPOILER!!: Prof When the soup was presented to him he managed to get one or two spoonfuls in before he decided to stop. He found it pretty bland and was wondering if he could add some salt to it. But before he could ask to pass the salt the soup was taken away to be replaced by the palate cleanser -- which was a very refreshing citrus salad. He took the salad fork and pressed it against a watermelon. On the next question he raised his hand again "Professor, after using the butterknife we return it back onto the bread plate. If for example we are done with this salad we replace our forks onto the serving plate that came with the salad." he said, tapping the serving dish beneath the glass container. |

Strawberries and Blueberries and Peaches, Oh my! She took another bite and smiled as she looked around to the people sitting with her. They were a quiet lot weren't they. Maybe they, like herself, were just enjoying the delicious food. |
All this etiquette nonsense was making Alex's head spin. He still had no idea what knife was which and which fork was which--all he'd gotten was the b and d thing. That hadn't been too tough to crack, so why was the rest of it so COMPLICATED to him?? He raised his hand. "You'd put your dirty utensils on the plate, so you don't get food on the nice tablecloths," he responded. Obviously. One didn't want the tablecloths to get dirty with your leftover gravy and butter! |
Nate chuckled slightly and raised his hand to answer. "I honestly have no idea, Professor," he said without hesitation. This was an etiquette class, after all, and honesty was usually considered polite. |

SPOILER!!: Awesome...thanks! "Yes ya'll are correct!" she said shaking her head up and down. "Once used, your utensils, including the handles, must not touch the table again. Always rest forks, knives, and spoons on the side of your plate or in the bowl or cup." she picked up her used fork from her plate and demonstrated for them on the screen. "You should always place it on the outer rim of the plate if you grab a drink or wipe your mouth with your napkin or something similar. You should never let it rest gangplank fashion with half of it on the plate and half of it on the table." She glanced around the room to see if the majority of students were done with the fruit salad course. "If you'll just place your salad fork in the cup, when you are done. This will signal that you are done with this course..." she waited for the students to do that and with a flick the cups where removed on the left side of each student and floated out as the next course flew in. "This is the sorbet course...it looks like ice cream but it's more tart than that..." she paused and then remembered an important warning, "Don't eat it too fast or you'll get a brain freeze...this course is to clean the palate for your main courses..." she had to admit that this was her one of her favorite courses...she loved sorbet. SPOILER!!: Sorbet When it seemed that the majority of the students were done, she flicked her wand and the empty glass bowls disappeared and the next course came in. SPOILER!!: Lasagna Course...you'll just get one of the circles She flicked her wand and the next course landed onto their serving plates. "Alright this is our first main dish. You can use the Fish Knife for this course..." she said picking up her knife, as the other utensils had, this fork raised up from all of the tables slightly. She flicked her wand and baskets of bread flew in an landed in the middle of each table. SPOILER!!: Bread Sticks...Yummy "Now it is important for you to pace yourself as you eat so that you don't finish before others are halfway through. So if you are a slow eater, try to speed up a bit on this occasion so you don't hold everyone up. And if you are a quick eater, slow down." she said eying her lasagna...this was going to be so good and the smell of garlic was just amazing!!! One of her favorites. "In the next course, we are going to have sourdough rolls. Can anyone tell me what the proper way to eat bread is?" she asked motioning for them to start eating their lasagna...then she took her first bite. OOC: Remember to raise your hand before you answer. .And as always remember she is always watching you! But remember she doesn't handle rudeness towards Muggle ways very well, so you might want to keep those prejudices to yourself unless you want face the consequences! Try the lasagna...oooo I love the smell of garlic from the bread...yummy...feel free to have LIGHT conversation at your table....but don't get carried away... |
TAylor tried the dish. She raised her hand after clearing her mouth of food by shallowing, "You break off small pieces and eat the small pieces. |
Amelia had to admit that she was liking all the food they were eating besides the tomato bread things. She had only picked at that one before placing it back on her bread plate. She was also discretely looking beside her to see if Ellie was eating; she had been so worried about her friend's health after the break up with Dallin. She raised her hand now. "I believe you break the bread up into smaller pieces as it's not very polite to eat a big piece of bread all at once." And eat it with butter. Mmmm. She liked bread with butter. She started on her lasagne now. |
Merlin. she never knew she could enjoy Muggle food so much. But then again, Muggle food was her comfort food. It's just that she haven't eaten those kind that they they were eating now. They were a bit new to her taste buds. Although everything was splendid, Beezus didn't liked the soup very much. She was never that fond of soup anyways. Still, she took a small taste of it just for table manners. However, the salad was the exact opposite of the soup. It was very delicious! And full of fruits, and very refreshing too. But the best part was just.....MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!! The main dish! LASAGNA! If she was just allowed to shout in their, she might as well have because lasagna was one of her favorites and the fact that she was having it, well..Muggle Studies, maybe ain't gonna be too bad for her this term. She just kept eating while the questions poured out. |
The lasagna looked really good. Silvia had had lasagna before, but none that looked like this. She hoped that she would have enough room for dessert later. After taking a sip of water, she raised her hand. "I think you should break off a piece of bread and eat one small piece at a time, rather than picking up the entire bread and taking a bite out of it." Silvia picked up her fork and knife and started on the lasagna. |
Eino made note that everyone in the table should try to eat at the same speed. He was usually a fast eater, so that was something he had to be mindful of. The main dish came and it looked like something someone really rich would eat. Eino had had lasagna before, but not like this. He picked up the his fork and the fish knife when the professor instructed them to use it, and took a small sample of the dish to taste. Hot, hot, hot! Eino almost blew on his food but he recalled that it was rude, so he just waited a few minutes for it to cool down. Meanwhile, he raised his hand to share a response. "I suppose bread should be eaten in small pieces, no? It can make you feel full very quickly if you eat too much, so you wouldn't have any more appetite for the rest of the meal." And it would be rude to just sit there and watch everyone eat. |
Finishing her fruit salad, Jezzabelle placed her salad fork in the cup and watched as it floated away. In it's place sat Lasagna. On it smelled and looked AMAZING! Even the bread sticks looked amazing. She decided it was best to let the food cool before taking a bite so she raised her hand and said, "Well, for one you're not supposed to butter the entire piece of bread. Actually you're supposed to take a bit of the butter and scrape it off onto the edge of your bread plate and then proceed to break off little pieces as you go along to eat it." Yeah, it sounded a little complicated but it was the proper way to do things. With that being said, Jezz took the first bite. It was so delicious. Almost tasted better than she had imagined it would. If she ate like this everyday it would make not only everyday a good day but it would make for one very happy and healthy Jezzabelle. She took another bite then a sip of her tea and followed it all up by lightly wiping her mouth. So good. |
catch up SPOILER!!: Professor Angelina sat and ate her soup slowly, untill she was tired of it, it was good, but she was full of soup. Once she heard the salad was full of all her favorite fruit that was it, she was excited! She was in love with strawberries, pineapple, peaches, wwatermelons, etc. Happily she took the a small amount of salad. She was about to pick up her dinner fork, or whatever you call it and use it tell her professor reminded them all to use their salad fork. Angelina than sat and at the amazing salad while listending to the professor talking to them. Raising her hand she said, "Professor wouldn't you set it on your bread plate?" Well thats what she did. SPOILER!!: Professor Angelina looked sadly down at her fruit salad, it was all gone. She loved it so much! Since she was done she placed her fork in the cup and waited for the next course, and listened to the Professor talking, she didn't want to miss anything. Yum, lasanga! She loved that lasanga. She hardly even has it though, this just made her whole day amazing. She doesn't think anything can ruin her day after this Muggle Studies lesson! She looked down at her lasanga and couldn't wait to eat it, but as professor said, don't eat to fast. This would be find though, she can enjoy the amazing lasanga, no matter how good it is. Raising her hand she said, "Professor, I believe you would eat your bread in little pieces, and not in one big bit(s)." |
There was a proper way to eat bread? Well, apparently Alex had been doing it wrong--stuffing as much of the bread into your mouth as you possibly could was apparently NOT right. He rolled his eyes. He was never going to remember this stuff after the homework. He raised his hand. "You eat it in small bites," he explained. "It's improper to stuff the whole thing in your mouth at once," he told her. |
Merlin, there was so much food! Ellie eyed it warily and glanced up at Amelia. Who was looking at her. Probably making sure Ellie ate it. But she didn't want to because she knew it wasn't going to stay there very long... Ugh. Following the Professor, Ellie used the specific eating utensils and cut her lasagna. This was so... precise. Ellie had never seen anyone actually do all this fancy stuff before, but... Oh well. It was for class, so she would do it. Before Ellie took a bite, she raised her hand. She might know the answer to this one. For once. "It's rude to eat anything in big bites, so probably taking small bites at a time would be proper. Or maybe even cutting it in half if it's a larger piece?" Just her two knuts. |
Aurora finished her bruschetta and started on her soup... oh Merlin, this was delicious! Mmm... tasty tasty! As she finished her soup the professor asked another question. Aurora raised her hand, "You place your knife and fork next to eachother on the plate, and the fork prongs should face downwards because some dressings and stuff can tarnish the silver." And with the prongs facing downwards most of the silver was off the plate. Problem solved. Ooooh fruit salad! Aurora took up her salad fork and began to eat slowly and carefully. Wouldn't do to be impolite at |
*pokes timezones* XD Kurumi remained silent through the next section of instructions, doing as she was instructed to do but not saying anything. Truth was, despite being told that the portions were very small, Kurumi was already beginning to get full. She just never ate huge quantities of food, especially ones with such rich flavors. Kurumi had never had lasagna before either, so her knife and fork slipped on the plate, making a soft clanging noise as the two eating utenstils met. She immediately bowed her head to everyone at the tabled and whispered an apology. Good thing none of the sauce had sprayed anywhere at least. Now they were moving onto the bread and, well, Kurumi's dinner didn't usually consist of bread and whenever it did at home it was always a scramble between her three brothers as to who got to eat the most, so they essentially devoured it in one bit while Kurumi's mother made her tear off small bite and actually count how many times she chewed. Her mother insisted that it was how to behave like a proper lady. Timidly, Kurumi raised her hand. "I-I suppose that after you have taken a roll from the basket and set it on your breadplate, if there is a basket, and have passed it to your left," it was the left things were being passed, right? Or was it the right? Merlin Kurumi hoped she never had to go to one of these parties...but dating Jonathan almost guaranteed that she would. SIGH. "That you...um...tear off small bit, about bit sized and chew it very slowly?" Kurumi's mother made her chew around seven or eight times before she was allowed to tear off another piece. This was why Kurumi preferred rice. |
Minerva looked at the Lasagna and bread it looks so good. She put up her hand. "Professor you eat in small pieces by breaking it off as you go." |
He...cannot take another bite of anything. And it was very likely he wasn't going to eat this entire week. Treyen was already full...and more stuff kept coming. Sigh. OH! LASAGNA! That reminded him of Italy! He could...eat it, just for Italy. And Hadley. But, first, about that bread thing..., hand raised, "One should break the piece of bread that you'll be taking...and if you want to butter it, just butter that piece. Never cut the bread with a knife." Not while having a meal, that is. Cut it when you're in the kitchen, like him and Conan used to do. |
SPOILER!!: Prof C Okay, next course-- Lasagna. For some reason Vickers always had white lasagna, perhaps it would be a good time to try something new. He took his portion onto his plate and picked up the fish knife as the Professor instructed. Then he saw the bread sticks before him. Hmm how to eat bread? Hand up again "Professor, take a piece and break it off with your hand, to a size that will easily fit your mouth. If its a loaf of bread, hold onto the bread with the cloth that came with the bread basket and use the bread knife to cut a portion for yourself, then lay it on your breadplate. " |
Glenn ate her lasagne very slowly. She wasn't particularly hungry and she was a slow eater any way. Oh? She's supposed to eat a bit faster uh-okay. She was a little worried about messing up her make-up, namely her lipstick from eating all this food. Glenn guessed she had brought it on herself wearing lipstick at all to this class. Another question, great. She raised her hand, "Um- With a knife and fork?" That seemed a correct answer. She had always eaten bread rolls with her fingers, guess she couldn't do that here. |
