Muggle Studies Lesson #1: Dinner Etiquette ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ http://i793.photobucket.com/albums/y...noneterm30.jpg ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Welcome to the first Muggle Studies lesson! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ ~* Attire *~ * Cocktail or Semi-Formal Please fill free to post your Characters dress in this forum. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ ~* Entrance *~ As you approach the Muggle Studies classroom, you notice that the door is closed, which is different than usual. When you reach for the door handle, a deep British accent comes from the door, "Please state your full name and your House..." After you share your name and house, the door will swing open to the ornate classroom. As usual, Professor Cerulean has decorated the classroom using charms to match the theme of the lesson. Once you have rped yourself introducing yourself to the door wait for the door to formally announce you before you enter the room. (I will come in throughout the day and act as the announcer) Before entering, please wait for the door to introduce you properly. Then you may walk into the room. ~* Decorations *~ The room is extravagant! The ceiling is sparkling under a tool puff. The room is divided into four sections, one for each of the houses. Each section is easy to spot because it is color coordinated to match each house. Above each section, there are Chinese Lanterns floating above the section in shades of the house's color. So the Slytherin section has shades of green lanterns floating above the round tables. Ravenclaw has shades of blue lanterns floating above the round tables. Gryffindor has shades of red lanterns floating above the round tables. And Hufflepuff has shades of yellow lanterns floating above the round tables. SPOILER!!: The ceiling SPOILER!!: Chinese Lanterns Floating over each section Each section contains a number of round tables that have been decorated using the House Colors as well. The tables have a simple black table cloth. The napkins and plates color coordinate with the lanterns floating above them. The tables have already been set in a formal setting. The centerpieces are very simple and elegant. Each centerpiece has three cylinder vases of varying sizes filled with water that is dyed to match the House color. A simple candle floats in each vase. SPOILER!!: Table Settings ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ ~* Instructions/OOC *~ Please read the notes under the Entrance section. Once you have rped yourself introducing yourself to the door wait for the door to formally announce you before you enter the room. (I will come in throughout the day and act as the announcer) Then find a seat wherever you would like. Professor Cerulean will be here shortly. Please keep talking to a minimum and remember that she is watching at all times... The class will officially start in about six or so hours. Minerva walked to Muggle Studies, but the door was closed. "Hello Minerva Wheatborn and I'm a Hufflepuff." she smiled at the door and waited.. |
Muggle Studies wasn’t one of Gwen’s favorite classes, but the thing it was supposed to be about sounded promising. Fancy, the third year thought as she approached the door. ‘Gwendolyn Greene’ No. No middle name. Not even her best friend knew it, so the girl decided it wasn’t sooo important to mention it now. It is just a door. It will let me in, even if I don’t say it. ‘Ravenclaw’, she finally added and waited to get in. ‘Hello Professor--’, she began saying and just then noticed that there was no one inside. Hmm… Once she stepped in, Gwendolyn remained quite surprised. That place was incredible. Walking towards the place for the Ravenclaw students, the third year waited for class to start. She was, for the first time, curious about the Muggle Studies class. |
Alyssa stepped up to the door when all of a sudden a voice spoke out with a very Britishy accent asking for her name and the House she belonged to. So Alyssa spoke up,"My name is Alyssa Potter and I belong to Hufflepuff House." The door to the room opened and Alyssa peeked in to see that the room had been decorately just like something out of a fairy tale. She waited outside the door until she was granted permission to enter. Alyssa looked around to see whether Oakey was already here. |
Jayden made an attempt to enter the classroom, but the door was closed. "Merlin. I hope I'm not late.." She began grumbling to herself before she was startled by a deep voice asking her name and house. "Jayden Grace Troutwater, and I am a Ravenclaw." She replied to the mysterious voice nervously. This should be interesting. |
Daisy walked into the class carefully treading in her heels. She didn't want to fall over, that would spoil the fun. Sure, she was looking forward to this class, but was a little annoyed at the fact she had to be polite, and couldn't smother her food with ketchup like she usually did, but she probably needed to eat a lot less ketchup anyway. 'Hello,' she smiled, feeling a bit weird talking to the door, but continuing nonetheless. 'Daisy Tucker, Hufflepuff Third Year.' |
Selina approached the door for the Muggle Studies room and moved to open the door. It was locked. She turned her head around to check if anyone was pulling a prank on her. Nope, no one was there. She crossed her arms and waited for someone to come by and help her. After a few minutes of waiting shebknocked on the door, "Hello? Selina Skylar, I'm in Gryffindor. We have Muggle Studies today right?". Where was her Professor? |
Hannah was headed to her muggle studies class when she noticed the door was closed. Hmm...that is weird she thought. She shrugged it off because this was muggle studies and she didn't have much knowledge in that department. Maybe it's some kind of weird ritual before you can come into a room. "Hannah Maire Lockwood. Slytherin." She said quite proudly. |
A bit nervous about her dress, Nora made her way to the Muggle Studies classroom and gasped when she heard the voice asking for her name and house. "Nora Penelope Reed," she said hesitantly, wondering what this was all about. "And I am a Slytherin." And proud of it. Hehe. |
Muggle Studies. She really needed a break from that subject. It was one of those that she doesn't seem to like. There were dancing mainly, that was her reason. And she hated dancing that was why she did not want to attend the lesson. But for the sole sake of her house, she was there. After all, maybe Professor Cerulean would be so ever grateful today and not have the prospect of making them dance? Then again that was impossible, considering their theme for the first lesson and she even made them wear dresses! Beezus sighed as she tried hard on walking with those shoes. It was definitely not her choice but she did not have any option. And that was why she was now in front of the Muggle Studies classroom door, and when she pulled the handle to open it. "Please state your full name and your House..." She heard the door say. Waiiiiiiiit... She couldn't remember that the door talked, well..at least not last term. Oh well..all part of today's lesson. "Err--Beatrice Evangeline Castell. Ravenclaw," she said. |
Sky walked nervously to the muggle studies class, her specially-for-this-class heels softly clicking on the floor. She noticed that the door was closed. Huh, that's odd… maybe the professor wants us to knock first? As Sky was reaching out her hand to do just that, a British sounding person asked for her name and house. "Sky Carter-Hope, Slytherin," she answered, her own American accent standing out more (at least to her ears) with very few people around. |
Jezzabelle peaked around the corner to the Muggle Studies classroom and felt herself take a nervous shaky breath. She walked towards the line outside the door and looked down. She felt a little over dressed for a class but it did say formal attire. She looked up at the door and spoke softly to the door, "Jezzabelle Marie Antoinette of Gryffindor House." Now she just had to wait to be announced to go int. |
charlotte walked up to the door and said charlotte bree gayfer huffelpuff first year |

Taylor went up to the door that was closed.... weird... she heard a british accent saying that she needs to state her full name and house.... she was creeped out a little bit, "TAylor Belle McIntyre......of Ravenclaw." Was that the proper way? |
India was confused to say the least by the locked door. Why have a class and have the door locked? She wondered as she let her hand clasp around the handle a voice rang out. Peculiar of you didn't know this was a school where peculiar was, well common. Doing as the voice asked she answered. "India Johanson, Ravenclaw" she waited for something to happen a click the voice to come again because obviously it was supposed to right? |
He had never been too good at Muggle Studies but somehow they were always one of the most interesting lessons for him. Formal Muggle attire was a must for this lesson, apparently, and - after doing some research - he had found the hopefully appropriate suit for this lesson. Chewing on his lower lip nervously Lewis approached the classroom door. They were supposed to...introduce themselves to a door?! This was almost as weird as talking to the ivy in the greenhouses. Weird school, very weird school. "Lewis Rasting. Hufflepuff." Could he...go in now? Or was he supposed to wait? And if so then wait for what? For the door to answer? Huh. |
Evelyn stood in front of the closed door, feeling a little stupid. Um. So, what was she supposed to say? Hm. Maybe that she was bored and she really didn't like her dress? Er, no. That was..unnecessary. "My name is Evelyn Wellington and I'm a Hufflepuff." That's it. That should do. She started to tap her foot against the floor as she waited for the door to open. |
Vlimia smoothed her long red dress and smiled. She had a childish love for dressing up. Looking around, she spotted the Muggle Studies classroom. Vlim had never been this early to a class before! She had never been late, but never exactly early, either. Cautiously, Vlimia knocked on the door. A deep male voice that sounded both courteous and authoritive asked her name and house. It would seem that the door was talking... oh well. "I'm Vlimia Laurel Maze of Ravenclaw house. It's a pleasure to, uh, make your acquaintance." Vlimia said, trying to be as Muggle and polite as she could. Because this was Muggle Etiquette, so she should be |
Hannah blinked a few times when the door announced her in. She stepped in and had to do a double take. It was so fancy like in here almost too fancy like. She shuddered at the thought of what would take place in this class. She found an empty seat and hoped that soon one of her classmates would be joining her. |
Lilly walked up to the door. It was closed, but there seemed to be people inside. Was she s'pose to introduce herself to a door? "My name is Lilly Deluise. I'm a second-year Gryffindor," she said. "Oh, hello, by the way," Lilly added. That might be polite. To say hello to a door. And, at the same time, competely mad. She bit her fingernail, excited to see what was inside. Muggle studies lessons were always loads of fun. |
Cardigan walked, well, rather hobbled,to muggle studies on her heels. They didn`t hurt or anything,it was just hard to walk!Once she got to the door, she did what other people were doing and said in her most formal and polite voice(as she had been taught by her parents),"Cardigan Johansson,Slytherin."She waited for something to happen. |
SPOILER!!: the door After hearing the door introduce her, Sky gently (well she didn't want to hurt it) pulled the door open and walked inside. What she saw made her gasp. The room was beautiful! She looked around and noticed that the lanterns hanging from the ceiling seemed to indicate where each house was to sit. She made her way over to where the green lanterns hung and chose a seat. She took a closer look at the centerpiece and noticed that even the water the candles were floating in had been dyed green. Wow! |
Nate had only expected the door to close after every student in line to enter Muggle Studies, because he had gotten the memo. He wasn't expecting to be later than usual this time, but sometimes things happened. Things like having to, oh, I don't know, put on a full suit? He wanted to dress up from his usual uniform, and he could think of only one way: vibrance. He was wearing a deep blue suit with a darker shade of blue on the button-down shirt underneath. A red tie adorned his neck, paired with a matching kerchief in his front suit pocket. Carved Ravenclaw cufflinks--courtesy of some Transfiguration know-how--were pinned through, well, his cuffs, and a self-done Ravenclaw crest was stuck firmly, by use of sticking charm, to his breast pocket. His hair and shoes were another story, as the red converse and usual mussy hairstyle remained as they usually were on the everyday Nate. His wand was, naturally, close at hand in his inside coat pocket. He always had it, even for Muggle Studies. One never knew... Approaching the door, Nate was sort of shocked that it didn't ask for his rank and intent. "Nathaniel Zacharias Stone," he said clearly, "Ravenclaw." And he was proud of it! Now just to wait to be announced before entering the class-that-didn't-seem-at-all-like-it-was-going-to-be-a-class room. |

She sort of figured by the way they were supposed to have dressed for the class, that SOMETHING fancy was going on, but when Taryn arrived at the door and reached out to open it, she was not expecting what happened. The voice gave Taryn a fright, but she managed to hold her composure well. Whew. Her full name? Hmmm... "Taryn Rien Hayden, Slytherin." She relayed to the voice with a little bit of a reverent nod, it sounded like a very... important voice. Maybe it was just the accent, but she wasn't taking any chances. Hehe. |
Jezzabelle walked in and looked around. It was so beautiful. Everything seemed so amazing. Lanterns were hanging all over the place in various shades of the house colors. She walked towards the Gryffindor colors, her heels clicking ever so lightly on the floor. She wasn't sure if she should sit or if she should continue standing. Gasping slightly a slow blush began to creep upon her cheek....what if a guy pulled her chair out for her? It's be so sweet. Still unsure though, she remained standing and watching the door waiting for the rest of the people to arrive. |
Quote:
With another glance at the door, he stepped into the room...and gasped. It was amazing. The decorations. The whole room. Just wow. Realizing he should probably move out of the way, Lewis took another few steps into the direction of the yellow part of the room. They were supposed to sit with their house, right? Though, were they supposed to SIT? Once he was standing under the yellow lanterns, Lewis glanced down at one of the tables. It had been set quite nicely. Hey, maybe they would actually get something to eat! Hovering a little awkwardly next to one of the chairs, he waited for somebody else to come his way. He would just do what the other people did. |
SPOILER!!: The Door Taylor heard the door announce her arrival. She thought:How does that have anything to do with muggles? She shrugged and walked in. Taylor was surpised at the decoartiions. She loved how pretty there were. She went over to the Ravenclaw section and chose a seat. Taylor were careful of how she sat in her apporiate dress. |
Evelyn gave a sigh of relief when the door opened. Talking to a door was just..weird. She entered the room and was really impressed. The room was decorated beautifully. WOW. She stood looking around for a second before she made her way to the yellow part of the room. Okay. Now, what? Were they supposed to sit down or stand? Um. Finally, she made her way to one of the chairs and sat down awkwardly. |
Silvia walked up to the door of the Muggle Studies classroom. The door could talk? Wow, interesting, she thought. First a talking giant squid, then broom hijacking flying squirrels, and now a talking door. Hogwarts certainly was stranger and more interesting than she had anticipated. She wondered what else she would encounter before the term was over. "Silvia Talbot, of Ravenclaw," she said, and waited for the door to open. |
Amelia had thought that the set up for the DADA classroom had been strange... up until she tried to get to Muggle Studies, that is. There is a door talking to me. How strange. She blinked but then stated her name and House like the door had asked her to. "Amelia Isabel Reinhart, Hufflepuff." Now she waited to be let inside. |
A -a door asked him who he was?!?!? I-Oh! Oakey Gunter of Hufflepuff It was surprising but what wasn't around here. He looked to see if Alyssa had already made it. Hope she wouldn't mind him coming in after her. |
Dinner Etiquette was not something someone readily thought about when thinking muggle studies. Well it wasn't when one considered it could cover both wizard and muggle alike. So when the notice went out for informtation on the class in question, Gideon couldn't help but look at it with raised eyebrow, especially with the added information of nice dress required. Oh boy...fun. So when the time for class came, he was dressed up in a nice suit complete with tie hoping it met the requirements. Gideon approached the door, a hand absently reaching up to his neck to fiddle with said tie a little nervous. "Gideon Gert...Gryffindor," he spoke, giving the Door the information it supposedly required. Easy enough to supply and once he was done, he patiently awaited whatever response he was to get. |
Ooooookay.. the door had asked for her name and house. Weird. Aurora had dressed up all fancy in her evening attire and made her way to the muggle studies classroom to be talked to by a door... Okay. "Aurora Stewart-Quinn, Slytherin." she said to it, brushing her hair back slightly. |
Darwin had never been good at this kind of thing; he was never rude, and he ALWAYS tried to be well behaved, but they always made him so nervous. He remembered going to his bedroom with Oskar when his mum had friends around, and when Oskar had his own friends around, too, he'd invite Brooke and they'd watch Spiderman. But maybe that was just because everyone there had been adults, and he got nervous when he was talking to them, anyway. Maybe this would teach him something, something his mum would be proud of and understand, because she wasn't going to understand why on earth a spell would come in handy, even if he could think of a million situations. Approaching the door, he tugged on the sleeves of his slightly-too-big blazer (it had been Oskars before his, and Oskar had always been bigger) and sighed, watching as everyone spoke. "Er- Darwin Riley, um, first year Ravenclaw." Yeah, having to say his real name due to teachers was kinda horrible. |
Salima approached the door to the Muggle Study classroom. Even though Salima was a Muggle-Born she didn't really mind learning Muggle Studies it kinda made her feel at home. Salima stopped at the door leading to the classroom and said 'Hello I'm Salima Prince, Third year, Hufflepuff.' Salima found it a bit awkward that she was talking to a door, but just waited patiently to be served. |
There were several things that Selena absolutely despised. Bug-candy, tripping, mean people, but above them all, Selena hated heels. And dresses. And dressing up for anything. she didn't care that the heels added an extra three inches to her four feet, five inch tall frame - they were uncomfortable and they hurt. So she struggled to walk over to where they were apparently going to be. Why would a professor torture them in such a way? When she reached the door, Selena was about to push it open when a thought occurred to her. What professor would leave the door closed and force the students to open it while wearing heels?! Was the professor aware that Selena could very easily trip in these? Being all dressed up put Selena in a foul mood. But apparently, the door had something to say, himself. Right. Apparently she had to speak to a door now. Selena had spoken to doors before, but this one didn't seem as nice as the other ones... then again, all the other doors never spoke. "I'm Selena Vivianne Zabini-Riddle from the wonderful house of Slytherin," Selena said politely. She did have manners after all. She'd cross that bridge when it came. |
Kennedy tugged at the collar of his shirt. He wasn't used to dressing up all fancy, but he had to admit, he looked REALLY nice, and there wasn't anything wrong with complementing himself. As he made his way to Muggle Studies he saw the door closed. Why was it closed? Was class cancelled and he didn't get a notice? He decided to knock on the door...and then it spoke. Kennedy did a 360 and noticed that he was alone. What the...? Okay, might as well listen to the speaking door. "Kennedy Escalante, Slytherin." |
Vashti was, perhaps, a little confused. Since when did Muggles have doors that talked? She'd been around doors in Muggle homes all her life - she was Muggle-born, after all - and none of them had ever spoken. This was Muggle Studies, wasn't it? She might've turned around, but it seemed plenty of other students had gone through, so she figured this was the right place. Still, she felt a bit weird as she answered the door's request for her full name and house. "Vashti Rachelle Greenwell, Ravenclaw." |
Nora couldn't help but giggle when the door announced her presence. You know, she felt like... a princess! And definitely more comfortable in that dress. But when she stepped inside... "Whoa," the girl mumbled under her breath, while her eyes looked about to pop out of her head. Trying to come back to her senses, she quickly moved from the door, because others may want to enter as well. She quickly noticed the house colours, so she headed towards the green part, although she was too fascinated with that FASCINATING ceiling to sit down. |
Taking a deep breath Isaac was a bit nervous about taking this class. The announcement had been interesting in his eyes, but he'd sworn he'd take every class this term, to see what he thought of the classes, and decided next term if he was dropping any of them, not to mention his OWL results would decide a lot on whether he took all classes next term. Approaching the door he noticed it was closed. Merlin was he late? Reaching for the door he heard the words it spoke. Erm...ok "Isaac Muir, Slytherin House." |
The door was talking to her. Stella hardly blinked at the request, though she did raise a hand to touch the ribbons binding her hair back from her face as if she was worried someone would say her hair was too messy for such an event. It had been hard decidign what to do, but at least the gold of the ribbons coordinated with the decoration on her dress. And this was only a lesson, not an actual formal ball. If it had been a real ball, she wouldn't be standing there by herself. Everyone knew that a true lady always had an escort, but then she didn't even know if Matt was coming to this lesson. In fact, she couldn't quite even recall if Muggle Studies had been one of the subjects he'd told her he was still taking. She was here now, though, and just out of the bit of training she'd gotten back at Beauxbatons, she dropped into a slight curtsy toward the door. "Stella Marie Gardiner, sixth year Ravenclaw, à votre demande," she said politely. Adding the last little bit just because it seemed like it was appropriate to the situation. Even if the door was just acting as an announcer, it deserved politeness. Then she stepped back slightly, hand raising to fidget with the diamond pendant of her necklace as she waited for admittance. This was definitely different than usual. |
Zhenya walked to Muggle Studies, adjusting the top of her dress as she walked. This was quite exciting! She stood near the door as it... spoke? Looking around, she noticed it must have been the door. "Zhenya Greddipe Burton, from Slytherin," she said and waited. |
Travis grabbed the door handle firmly and pulled. Locked?! Travis wasn't Late! What is this Madness. He tapped his finger against his leg a few times... He knew for a fact that he was NOT late! If fact, Trav was willing to go to the headmaster about it, if it was completely necessary. Wait, was That a Voice? Trav's head tilted in a confused manner as he stared at the door. His name and house? OOH! Fun. Now was his chance to be good, proper, and socially acceptable. Quick, think! What's the best high class name he could think of... "Sir Eugene Virgil Francis the IV from Ravenclaw." Really? The one time he had to change my name to whatever he wanted, and that's all he could think of? That was Disappointing. |
This was not the clothing he would wear normally. But for this occasion Daichi figured it was pretty decent looking. Dressed in black pants with a white top he walked towards the first muggle studies lesson of the term. Daichi reached his hand at the doorknob and tried to turn it. Instead that the door flew open, he was taken aback by a voice that seemed to come from the door itself. Jumping , Daichi withdrew his hand and scratched his head. Eeeh...it wanted his name? What for? "Uhm... Daichi Max Katharos...i'm a Slytherin" he answered and waited for something to happen. |
Isobel was uncomfortable enough as it was; she did not like wearing dresses. Isobel tended to avoid dresses or anything of the kind, and she had done pretty well her entire life. She supposed that she could have worn a fancy shirt and some pants, but that had seemed a little weird to her. Finally she had found a dress that was not too frilly or anything of the sort. Instead, it was a pale yellow and Isobel thought it was actually okay. But, dresses still made her uncomfortable, and so did talking doors. Normal doors did not talk; not even at Hogwarts. "Isobel VonHue of Hufflepuff," Isobel said with an impressively calm voice, despite the confusion she was feeling at the moment. |
A talking door... That was somewhat unusual. Then again so was the idea of this class. But it had seemed interesting and so here she was ready to learn about Muggle Dinner Etiquette. Amelia just hoped that they had vegan or vegetarian food, because if not she wasn't going to be displaying too much etiquette. That and she'd be going hungry until she could sneak to the kitchens. "Amelia Serenity Pendragon, Slytherin," Amelia replied once the novelty of the door had worn off. |
SPOILER!!: Quotes After hearing the door announce her name,Cardigan carefully opened the door and closing it just as careful. When she saw the room, she gasped in awe.The room was gorgeous! She carefully walked over to one of the tables in the green section and sat down, hoping to spot someone she knew, like Logan or Vlimia. That would be grand! |
LuLu walked in and smiled at the door who seemed to be doing some introductions "Good day," she nodded "LuLu Kieren, third year, Ravenclaw," she scanned the room, all were in their dresses and suits it was so odd it made them all look... extreamly normel.. she liked it normel stuff never seemed to happen to her she smiled her hair to one side curled a bit at he end wearing a pink dress and white heels slightly heels anyways she thought she seemed acceptable |
What was going on? The door wasn't letting her through until she stated her name? Preslsey shrugged. She'd gotten the attire memo, so maybe it was all a part of that. "Presley Lynne Black, Ravenclaw." She said clearly. Now what? |
Angelina started walking up to the door and saw and heard the other studies saying there names and houses. Even if she was ready for her favorite class she was ciriouse. Walking up to the door, she tried to open the door when the voice came. "Angelina Andrews, Slytherin," She said to the air and the door. She didn't know where to say anything to so all there was is the door. |
Holding her arms outfor slight balance, Kurumi made her way to the classroom only to find that the door was shut. Odd, the professor always had an open door policy. Idly playing with her curled hair for a moment, Kurumi tugged on the bottom of her dress and adjusted everything to make sure it was in its proper place and took a deep breath before offering the door a small bow. "I am Kurumi Hollingberry of the House of Gryffindor," she said in a clear and delicate voice. |
Alex had to admit--he was NOT at all thrilled about this lesson. Fancy formal stuff was the kind of thing his family would have been into for sure, but he himself had trouble appreciating all the fancy smancy clothes and food and decorations. He was so much more laid back than all of this. Now he had to attend a whole lesson based on etiquette? GAG. This was the first class since attending school that he'd absolutely dreaded. He walked up to the door and sighed. He had to announced his name. His FULL name. Sigh. "Alexander Salazar Greingoth the Third, Hufflepuff" he said in a flat monotone. |
First the movies and now this formal dinner event! Oh how she loved the muggle studies class! But what to wear? She hadn't found anything suitable enough, at least according to her. She then just tweaked one of dresses and lo! there was her dress as she wanted! When she arrived on the door, slightly stumbling and slowly, for she wasn't used to theses high heels, she was surprised that she had to make her introductions to the door. Others were making theirs, so why not? "I'm Ira Wilson, of Gryffindor." she stated, a little more proudly than intended and a little amused. |
Melanie walked up to the door, feeling awfully out of place in Hogwarts wearing a muggle, formal dress. Not that the muggle dress part was anything new, but it didn't fit with the flagstone floors, ornate tapestries, and suspiciously mobile suits of armor. "Er...Melanie Baudin. Ravenclaw," she said to the door, feeling quite silly announcing herself to an inanimate object. Mind you, at Hogwarts, you had to be careful what you considered 'inanimate'. |
Vickers patted his pocket, making sure his glasses are safely tucked within. His other hand pressed against his bow tie self-consciously. No matter how many of these events he's attended or witness his grandmother hosting back home, he will never seem to feel comfortable with gigs like these. He approached the closed door and heard the... doorman? Except this one was literally a door "Vincenzo Vanderbilt. Ravenclaw House." he uttered discreetly but clearly. |
Harvey came to the door and he went to open it.. but just then he heard a voice.. strange he didnt know that doors could talk.. but then this WAS Hogwarts anything was possible.. so he complied with what the door asked for "Harvey Watson for Ravenclaw |

Cornelius found his way over to the Muggle Studies classroom only to find that the door was closed, and as he reached for the doorknob, a loud voice asked him for his full name and house. Eyebrows raising, he gave a grin at the whole process of getting inside, shaking his head before doing as the door asked. "Cornelius Rune, Ravenclaw House," he answered, resting one of his hands in his suit's pocket. He had dressed up as the lesson required, dressed in a nice suit with tie and all, though his tie was just loose enough to make the whole outfit look casual. |
Pam was eager to start the lesson. As she arrived to the big door, she said, "Pamphylia Barstow, Ravenclaw House." She awaited for the doors to open, hoping they would soon. |
Conrad itched in the slacks and dinner jacket he had chosen to wear for the dinner. He didn't understand why muggles felt the need to dress so uncomfortably just to impress each other. Walking up to the door, he addressed it using his full name: "Conrad Kentigern McCabe," he said loudly and clearly. |

Dinner Etiquette? Raven had no idea about this lesson, but she was not comfortable with her dress robe, since she was very boyish person. She walked to the classroom, and they need to mention her full name? Okay. "Raven Avicenna Charlotte, Slytherin House." |

With a little bounce to her step -and yes, she could indeed 'bounce' in her high heels- Brooklyn was overjoyed at being to wear formal wear. Afterall, it was definitely her favorite type of thing to shop for, as well as shoes of course. And gosh, this dress was so pretty and SPARKLY. So- so eye catching and beautiful. Merlin, she could rave about it all night! But upon arriving at the door, the young girl paused. It was... closed? How strange. With a puzzled expression, she reached for the door- BUT IT SPOKE. OH GOSH, IT SPOKE. She jumped back in pure surprise. But of course, she obliged to it's wishes. What else was there to do anyway? "I'm Brooklyn Dakota Petrov of the Gryffindor House." It's nice to meet you door. |
Elise bounced towards the door, her hair in a french twist with two frangipanis in it. A few blonde strands framing her face, Elise felt beautiful. Reaching for the door, El had barely touched it when a cool British accent asked for her name and house. A little bit surprised, Elise straightened her dress before looking strangely at the door. Normal doors didn't talk... But then, who could describe Hogwarts as normal? "Elise Alienne Fairfield, Ravenclaw," she beamed. "Nice to meet you, door!" she added quietly. Delicately touching the flowers in her hair, she fiddled with the strands hanging by her face. Then, she remembered that Erin'd kill her if her hair was ruined, so she stopped. Erin'd done an awesome job with her hair. |

A smile crawled onto Nate's lips as he took a seat. This was amazing, really, and he couldn't help but wonder if Cerulean had done it all--save the door and flying lanterns--without magic... |

And after doing so, she entered their Muggle Studies Classroom. Whaaaa--? Waiiiit..where did their classroom go? Did Professor Cerulean sent it away? What happened?! Beezus just stood at the entrance, dumbstruck at the sight before her. She knew that their lesson's theme was proper Dinner Etiquette yet that setting was too..ravishing. All the decorations were splendid. And that was saying something in Beezus side. She particularly loved the lanterns and the fact that their hall was divided into the different house colors. She looked around for their Professor. Maybe this term, Muggle Studies won't be that bad for her. But she did not find her, there were just students. So, she decided to take a seat at the nearest Ravenclaw table to her. She needed a rest, her heels were killing her! |
Wow so many replies!! *Huggles you all* (Careful...he can be a grippy one...) ~*OOC: I hope I didn't miss anyone....*~ Quote:

Yeah, that door sure was grippy. Beezus couldn't help but smirk. It literally included the slight stutterings. Of course she heard that, the door was announcing before them remember? There was one poor first year Claw whom the door introduced along with the stutter. Yeah, just like her. And that was why she was feeling bad. Gaaaaaahhh, and it did not even made exceptions. The door did not missed Daichi with his 'uhm' and that Oakey guy with his 'I-oh!'. Sigh. Really, really grippy door. Where was their Professor anyway? |

It was so cool! She wanted Zayden to come here so that she could dance with him. Shame he was in Slytherin though, and probably wouldn't sit with her. Well... if he came. She spotted a table with yellow lanterns and headed straight for it before taking a seat. |
Introduction to Lesson The lights dimmed slowly and slightly and the door cleared its throat to get the students attention, "It is my distinct pleasure to introduce Professor Ms. Gemma Elizabeth Cerulean, Muggle Studies Professor!" the British voice sounded excited to introduce the professor....plus it meant that the door was done being nice to students. Gemma walked into the room excitedly. She was hoping that the students enjoyed the evening..the lesson...and the food...especially the food. She walked to the middle of the room so that all of the four sections were on all four sides of her. She smiled at each of the section and did a small curtsy/bow towards each section. With a flick of her right wrist, her wand shot out of its holster. She flicked her wand and four screens dropped down from the ceiling. Each screen faced a different set of House tables. Then a little cocktail table with a tall bar stool appeared in the middle of the room with a purple napkin and plate and single vase filled with purple water and one candle. Gemma couldn't help but beam at the students. "Welcome to the first Muggle studies lesson of the term! Please please please have a seat if you haven't already! I hope that you already feel special with such a formal greeting...It always makes me feel like a princes..." she said motioning her hands down to signal that they sit down. Then she continued, "I'm hoping that you enjoy this lesson from the attire to the decorations to the theme to the FOOD!" she said this statement with the most emphasis on the food. Then she turned slightly to face another set of Houses...she didn't want one house to think she was only speaking to them. "Etiquette is defined as the rules for socially acceptable behavior. These type of rules are important in both the Muggle and Wizard World; however, many of the rules vary in each world...some are the same but there are many differences. Today we will focus on the Muggle side of these rules." she said with a slight nod up and down. "Etiquette isn't new. It may have begun with a behavior code by Ptahhotep, in Egypt's reign of the Fifth Dynasty King DJedkare Isesi." she paused realizing that her History side was shining through and then she quickly continued. "There are all kinds of opportunities to impress, such as dates, meeting new people, lunch with a peer that you look up to, not to mention the Holidays, plus more and more job interviews being done over a dinner table." she figured she was rambling so she got to the first point. She motioned to the screens and the table setting appeared on the screen. "If you will take a look at your seating area and the way your plates and forks and drinks are set up..." she motioned towards her table and turned a little bit to face a different couple of tables. "I'm sure you're first question as you look at the table is figuring out which items belong to you...the settings are very close together and this can be confusing..." she flicked her wand and the water glasses, bread plates, and napkins levitated over the table. "If everyone will hold up their hands and make a B with their left hand and a D with their right hand...." she demonstrated with her hands, "These two hand signals will help you remember which is yours...Can anyone guess what the b and the d stand for? Please raise your hand before you answer...." she said glancing between the tables. OOC: Remember to raise your hand before you answer. All conversation should end now. Please don't post your charrie coming in late. You can have crazy answers if you would like...Gemma and I love creative answers....And as always remember she is always watching you! But remember she doesn't handle rudeness towards Muggle ways very well, so you might want to keep those prejudices to yourself unless you want face the consequences! |

"Thank You." said her short. She wondered why did she wait until the stranger called her name. Then she sat at a table that full of spoons, plate, glasss, etc. Raven looked the Professor demonstrated how could their hands could form B and D. "Wow." she murmured. Then she tried her hands form B and D too. And what B and D straights from? She confused. Raven thought logically. She raised her hand and answered "Bread and Drink?" |

But what met her eyes was unexpected. It was- It was beautiful! So beautifully decorated and wonderfully done. Merlin, it must have taken forever! Though, she imagined it would have taken a significantly less amount of time than it would for a muggle. Nevertheless, the room was still just beautiful. And she couldn't help but fawn over it. Walking towards the Gryffindor section, the blonde took a seat and waited for the rest of her house, as well as the professor, to arrive. BUT She was here now! The girl grinned, seeing the professor. As she was instructed, she made the signals with her hands, but did not raise her hand to answer the question unfortunately. |
Alex wrinkled his eyebrows and held out his hand. Make a B and a D? What on Earth did that mean? After a bit of struggling he realized she meant LOWERCASE B and D which made things a lot easier, but it took him at least two more minutes to crack this type of etiquette code. Once he had the answer, he raised his hand. "OH! It means bread and drink, right? Cause your bread is here...and drink is here..." he said, motioning to the spots on the table as he spoke. |

Beezus raised her hand, "Professor, the hand where b is formed which is basically your left hand stands for your bread plate and the d hand which is your right hand stands for your drinks. The utensils should be placed accordingly to this rule." Well? Not too bad eh? Muggle Studies. Maybe she'll survive this. |
Eino listened and watched as Professor Cerulean introduced the class to her lesson. It was rather hard to keep his eyes in one place because there was so much going on. Eino was curious to know how muggles ate, or what was their etiquette. He couldn't quite imagine how different it would be from wizard's etiquette. As a pureblood wizard he had always experienced the wizard custom first, but he had eaten at muggle restaurants before and never stood out. They use plates and plates, too? So far, no differences. When prompted Eino attempted to do the B and D with his hands as Professor Cerulean demonstrated, but he was having a little trouble. When she asked what the two letters stood for, Eino raised his hand. "B is for, ummm, bubbles, because sparkling drinks make bubbles and they are on this side... D is for, uh, dishes, because you put your extra dishes here." Sounded reasonable. |
Amelia made the gestures like the Professor had indicated to, then raised her hand. "Because bread is kept on the left side and stands for b. Drinks are kept on the right and stand for d." Or that was the only thing she could suppose right now, because anything else would be totally weird and not relate to food in any way. |
SPOILER!!: quotage Selena looked at her hands, confused. What did the B and D stand for? Selena's hand shot straight up into the air. "Bad Dinner." Because eating dinners in such an environment was always so confusing with all the different spoons and forks and things. It was too complicated. It was like they couldn't just settle down for one simple utensil to use throughout the whole meal. That definitely had to be what the B and D stood for. |
Jonathan took a seat in one corner just like everybody did so. They were going to learn dinner etiquette like muggles. Jonathan has never really experienced it before but he does go to formal parties that his parents attend to. If the ministry party was set during the summer vacation, Alexander would have dragged him along too. Thank Merlin for the fast paced seasons. B and D. The professor raised the question. Jonathan raised his hand B is for bread, which is located on the left side while D is for drink, located on the right side" he explained. So it was somewhat the same as the one he learned from his mother as well. Victoria is very particular with these stuffs. He never thought it would've come handy in school. |
Myka! You be here too! Quote:

Nathan was a bit out of it with this class. Edicate lessons just seemed so girly to him. He half way listened to the professor and heard something about what b and d stood. What the heck, people were saying bread and drinks was the answer, to what, hunger? H His boredom for this insipid class grew and he found himself lazily tracing his finger across the table. As he made a b shape on his left side he noticed it led to his bread dish. He decided to try the d on his right which led him to his drink. He could not believe it, he had figured out what his classmates meant by pure laziness. He raised his hand and responded, "b stands for bread dish because when you make a b on the table it leads to you're bread. The d stands for drinks cause when you do a d on the table it leads you to you're drink. The one closest to you", Nathan responded happily. He was so surprised that he was actually starting to enjoy the etiquette class. |
SPOILER!!: Professor! Muggle Studied never did disappoint. The whole area looked simply amazing: the ceiling, the table set, everyone dressed in their fancy outfits. There was even a talking door. Although, that wasn't very muggle.. *shrug* And Professor Cerulean looked great in her dress! It was very colorful, unlike Desiree's which was grey, but it had some sparkles and a little bit of feathers on the top too. She watched the Professor levitate everything off the table, and held up her hands as asked, staring at them a little confused. B and D? She should know this! Her parents were super strict about etiquette, but maybe muggle and wizard etiquette was different? She heard people say bread and drink.. which made sense, but.. she thought a little longer. She slowly raised her hand, "Professor, B could stand for beverages which are kept on the left side, and D could stand for dinner which is on the right side?" she answered questioning herself, it was the opposite of what everyone else had said, but that didn't make it wrong. But she had a feeling she was pretty off. Better saying something, than nothing at all, right? |
Making sure that there was a seat next to him free for when Amelia took her seat, Isaac sat down but looked around the room in amazement. The decor and ceiling were spectacular! Wait...the professor was speaking. B and D? His eyebrow lifted confusion plastered on his face. Why in Merlin's name would that signify anything? And did she mean in ASL or BSL or the actual shape of the B and D? His confusion just made him shake his head. What would it signify? Raising his hand he decided to give it a shot. "Would it mean if you lie them beside the utensils everything between is yer own?" Or perhaps it meant the specific utensils on either side of the plate? Well it was too late to change his answer now. |
India smiled to the door as she stepped in, "Thank you," she smiled and made her way into the room stepping slowly in order to make sure she didn't trip or cause any harm to other students. Really. It would be awful of her to ruin someone's dress and not do it intentionally. Walking to a little table she sat down making sure to cross her legs at her ankles so as to not let there be any accidental views of anything inappropriate. "Would the B and D indicated bread and drinking glass or where your bread should go and where your drink should go?" She asked after raising her hand. "Or more so the B.M.W technique taught by Emily Post" what? Any girl should know of Emily Post's book of Etiquette. She did. She'd read it. |
Staring blank in confusion at her lightly painted finger nail, Eva had absouloutley no idea what this Professor meant! As her confusion ran through her mind Eva tried to duplicate what this Professor was doing. Eva thought about what B and D meant. Hmmm Brutal Dinner, Bad Duck or Breakfast Dinner? Eva thought to herself. She came up with an alright answer to do with 'B and D' and put her hand up and responded to the question; "Is it Brutal Dinner?" Eva with only this time a little bit of confusion. She knew it wasn't right so she thought deeper and deeper. She came up with something that made a lot more sense this time. Still keeping her hand up she spoke for the second time and said; "Sorry I finally figured it out; B is to remember that your bread is on the left and D is to remember that your drink is on the right. It is a tip to remember which one is your so you don't get confused with the person next to you." Wow! Eva sounded a know-it-all then but she was sure she got it right. |
Kennedy was beyond impressed with the Muggle Studies classroom. It almost felt like if it was Prom with all the fancy stuff. Hmm, now that reminded him that he wouldn't be attending Prom at his old muggle school because he'd be at Hogwarts. Hmm, and he apparently didn't care. Heh. He also felt sort of special when the door announced his name like if he was royalty. He listened to the question Professor Cerulean had asked, and then looked down at the table. He...had no clue. The only time he's been to a fancy dinner was with Aurora's family and even then he only mimicked their movements. |
:P Mention of Dia in here too. Even though the door obviously couldn't see her, no matter how observant it had seemed to be with the introductions, Stella gave it a smile as it had opened for her. She wasn't going to stop being polite, especially as it was an etiquette lesson. And, stepping inside, she'd looked around at the decor mometarily before finding a seat in the blue area. Obviously Matt either wasn't coming, or just wasn't there yet, so she'd sit with the other Ravenclaws. Specifically, it seemed, next to India, which worked for her since at least she knew the other girl. It saved needing to go through many other introductions. Her attention had gone to Professor Cerulean as the woman had entered, after an exuberant introduction from the imaginary doorman, and she'd nodded at the explanations. The history lesson was unexpected, but at least it had given a basic idea as to why they were learning this. She made the hand gestures as requested as well, although she dropped one of them as she'd raised her hand to answer the question. "Insofar as we're focusing on the specific items, the B and D refer to the bread plate and water glass. Indicating that the bread plate should always be on our left, and our glass on the right," she replied, adding a bit to what had been said by others as she glanced over at Dia again. Apparently etiquette classes happened at other places as well, or at least the other Claw had interesting reading habits. |
Nickayla smiled at the door and it opened for her she was so starttled she wasn't really thinking that would happen Nickayla was thinking about the answer and she said it queitly to herself. |
SPOILER!!: Professor Cerulean For the first time in her life, Sky was silently thanking her parents for dragging her to all those boring dinners with her father's business partners. She felt confident that she had this down! She followed the professor's instructions, making a b with her left hand and a d with her right. She so had this! Sky calmly (the lesson was about etiquette, after all) raised her hand before confidently answering, "We're making the b with our left hand because the bread plate will be on the top left of the place setting and the d with our right because our drink will be on the top right." |

SPOILER!!: Professor Cerulean Alyssa took a seat as instructed and then held up her hands trying to make the letter B with her left hand and the letter D with her right hand. She looked at the how the plates and glasses were arranged on the table, and realized what the letters stood for. Even though others had already answered the question, she still raised her hand to give hers. "Professor, the b stands for our bread plate which should always be placed on our left hand side and the d stand for our drink glass that should always be on our right. So if the table arrangement is very close together, we need to remember that we shouldn't reach over to the right to take the bread from that plate because that bread belongs to the person on our right and if we wanted to make sure that we didn't end up drinking someone else water, we should always reach for the glass on our right and not the one on our left." |
Zhenya raised her hand after hearing the question. It had reminded her of a dinner time song she and her grandparents used to sing... it was lame but she used to love it! "Professor it goes," she started tuning the song, "One, two better eat your bread - three four, don't forget to drink," she said, turning slightly red from embarrassment from singing in front of the class. |
Aurora smiled quietly to herself and raised her hands in a B and D shape as instructed, then Professor Cerulean asked what they meant... her hand shot into the air. "Bread and Drink, Professor." she said. Oh yes, her private tutoring had come in handy before but she'd never thought her mother's dinners would be useful until now... |
Angelina raised her hand and said, "The B is for bread and D is for drinks." She wasn't to sure, just taking a guess, she knew nothing about muggle things or stuff like that.. |
Ira was amused when the door repeated the students' names exactly the same as they had said! It was so funny! Ira wondered how grand the inside was going to be? As she stepped inside the door, Ira was mesmerized by the room's interiors! It looked so beautiful.. The ceiling looked amazing, all shiny and bright! And she also loved the table settings. It all looked so elegant! Ira wondered how Professor Cerulean got all these wonderful ideas from. Ira had never been to such grand parties in her whole life! Her parents weren't the type to socialize much, and moreover weren't even in the so-called high class either! So it wasn't a surprise that Ira didn't really know the correct dinner etiquette at such formal dinner party, despite being a muggleborn. So she just kept quiet and instead, focused on admiring the beautiful decorations. |
I was rude? And the door is what- a lovely presence? Psh...,the Ravenclaw thought. Wait- I lost points!? I LOST POINTS???? I lost POINTS from my house!? Noooooo! Gwen was complitely mind blown. Finally taking a seat, the girl waited for the lesson to end. I am probably going to screw up something AGAIN, she dramatized. 'Bread and Drink...', Gwen said simply. Or boring and dull, she thought, but didn't even think to say it out loud. I might lose even more points. |

She did as the professor instructed. She made a B with her left hand and a D with her right hand. Hm. What do the B and D stand for? Hm. Evelyn raised her hand and said lazily, "B stands for Bread and D stands for Drink." She had no idea why though. |
After his introduction into the room Brycen took a seat and waited as more students entered. He imagined his mom with a smug I told you sort of expression on her face when she learned he was having proper dinner etiquette lessons in his muggle studies class. The teacher instructed they make a B and a D with their hands. Brycen looked at his hands and quietly said Bread and Drink as if making sure he didnt forget. He suddenly wished he had lstened to his mum more during dinner. |
