Kendra walked through the grounds speedily, pulling her cloak around her tightly, the slight breeze blowing around her face, chilling her slightly. Her small frame never helped her resistance to the cold. Even in the summer she could usually be found with a hoodie on, however odd people found it. She had heard of this place when she had been looking at the CoMC notice board earlier that morning in the common room, some students muttering about 'The Sanctuary.' As usual, Kendra was intrigued to find out more, especially if it involved creatures of any kind. Her eleven year old mind was packed to the brim with excitement, causing her to half skip, half run to the place. A strange sight to behold if ever there was one.

She spotted the enclosure soon enough, it was breath taking for Kendra, even from this distance there was small flicker of life that was obvious. She reached the gate near the shed and headed towards it, picking her copy of Fantastic Beasts and where to find them out of her bag and laying it on the bench inside. She saw a note taped up with a scrawl of jobs written on it. Kendra had a feeling that she would like to spend a lot of time here, two of the bonus points were that a) it had creatures in it and b) it was outside. She wasn't claustrophobic, far from it. Yet seemed more at home where the elements were, even if it did involved getting cold.

She grabbed a pile of sticks and headed outside, not seeing much in current location, and proceeded to make a tepee shape on a small worn patch of dirt. She carefully got out her wand and tried out a spell that she had read in her book, hoping it would set her alight. She flicked her wand at the pile of sticks and said loudly 'Incendio.' Making sure her pronunciation was correct. A large burst of fire burst out her wand and set the twigs on fire... and her eyebrows, but to her it didn’t matter. She had done a job, even if she wasn't totally sure what salamanders were., they had had three x's next to their name. It was probably best to take caution.

She got back a safe distance and sat under a tree, staring at the fire intently. The tree, much to her surprise, seemed to talk, but she wasn't sure if that was the creatures in it or just magic. She didn't have many explanations for things at the moment, so camera in hand, bought from Diagon Alley a few weeks previously she tried to prevent herself from climbing up the tree and investigating. She felt at home here, she couldn't wait to make observations. That was her dream, to be some sort of wildlife reporter.. well it used to be. She wondered what jobs were available to do with magical creatures. She rested her chin on hand. Now to wait..

Isabelle was excited to go to the Magical Creature Sanctuary. She really was in the mood to see some horses. Izzy had even stuck an apple in her fabric bag. Isabelle was surprised that she had never really been around many of these animals before. She hadn't remembered visiting the COMC place besides for classes in her previous years, but she was excited now.

Isabelle opened the door to the enclosure and saw a note with suggested activities. She read the note and saw that some of the things were crossed off. She could barely make out try to get stung by a billywig and try to ride a fire crab. Interesting, this teacher surely had some humor. Izzy had already decided that she was going to visit the abraxan and feed it the apple she brought. Looking around she spotted it and began to walk towards it.

"Hello," Isabelle said to it, holding out her apple and waiting for it to eat it. "You are such a beautiful horse...er abraxan." She didn't want it to be offended by being called a common horse. It may be like hippogriffs and be offended easily. And Izzy did not want to be hurt this early in the term. She smiled as the horse abraxan ate the apple and began to pet its head. It sure was a pretty animal.

Butterfly walked into the Magical Creature Sanctuary and walked over to the salamanders. She gathered some wood adn begand lighting a fire for some of the salamanders.

Alyssa walked into the sanctuary. She knew that there were many magical creatures living here, but she knew that many of them were hiding underground or in the trees. She would have loved to work with the Hippogriffs today but until she was given permission by the Professor to do so, she would have to steer clear of them for now. But there was still plenty of other creatures to take care off and definitely a lot of cleaning up to do, Alyssa could tell making sure that she didn't step on any of the steamy piles that littered the grounds.

'Okay I guess somebody has to pick these up. It ain't going to disappear anytime soon.'Alyssa thought to herself. She was just glad that she had put on her oldest pair of shoes and clothes because they were definitely going to be thrown away after she was done working here. So putting on her dragon hide gloves, she went over to the shed where the tools were kept and brought out a shovel and a wheelbarrow. 'Thank goodness I've helped picked up poop back at Grandpa's ranch, so this is not going to be as bad as it looks....I hope.'Alyssa thought to herself.

She started shoveling up the steaming piles of poop and placed them in the wheelbarrow, making very sure that she didn't let it drip all over herself. Once she had cleaned up one area, she placed the shovel into the wheelbarrow, picked up it's handles and pushed it to the next area. After an hour of back breaking shoveling and pushing, Alyssa pushed the full wheelbarrow to the corner of the sanctuary where the rest of the compost pile lay, lifted up the handles and tilted the contents onto the pile. 'Whew! I better make sure that the first thing I do when I get back to the castle is take a shower and wash my shoes and clothes.' Alyssa thought to herself, lifting her arm to smell herself and laughing when she took a whiff of what she smelled like. She returned the shovel and wheelbarrow back into the shed but not before cleaning both of them up using the "Scourgify" spell and placed them back in the shed.

"Well since I'm already dirty, I might as well change the water in the water troughs."Alyssa told herself. So she walked over to the water troughs, removed the leaves and dirt from the water, and taking out her wand pointed it in the troughs and said "Tergeo" to empty the troughs of the dirty water and then "Scourgify" to clean them out. Once that was done, she pointed her wand back into the troughs and said. "Aguamenti" filling the troughs back with clean water.

'Well that's it for today. Time for a shower, stinky Lyssie. 'Alyssa told herself looking down at her clothes one more time. Before she left, she called out to the creatures. "I'll see you guys tomorrow." Then Alyssa left the Sanctuary and headed back for the castle.

Elise tripped over her own feet at least three times on the way down to the sanctuary. Sketchpad and pastels residing safely in her bag, she rushed down the stairs and out into the fresh air. It was the perfect weather for drawing and what better to draw than a magical creature!

When she reached, she stopped to read the notices and burst out laughing. Their professor sure had a sense of humor. Nodding, she looked for the fire crab. If the book diagrams were to be trusted, it would be really fun to draw.

Flopping herself onto the grass, she opened her bag and pulled out her pastels and sketchpad. Then, she started looking for the firecrab. Her eyes darted around the sanctuary, and settled on many magical creatures. Except the fire crab.

She was just going to give up and maybe draw an abraxan when a glint of diamond caught her eye. Looking to her left, Elise spotted a crab-like creature with a diamond-studded shell. Turning to face it, she picked a cobalt blue pastel and started on the drawing.

Beezus had never been to the Magical Creatures Sanctuary but before she started answering her History of Magic homework, she decided to take a quick look around. However, it seems like she won't be staying for only a short while because once she saw various creatures lurking around, her curiosity and fondness for cute things was triggered.

She entered the sanctuary with a smile. And much to her delight, a trio of flying creatures came flying towards her direction. "Fairies!" she identified as she jumped with excitement. Why..there must be more interesting creatures around. The fairies flew away and she followed them in a jog.

Blink, blink. Abraxan, Bowtruckle, Niffler, Salamander! There were so many creatures. Her attention was completely averted and she lost track of the fairies. Her shoulders fell when she did not see the fairies anymore so she continued journeying through the depths of the Sanctuary. Then she saw someone. Beezus walked over to where that person was, "Elise!" She surprised her as she shaked the girl's shoulders lightly. "What'cha doing?" She eyed the the sketchpad that her friend was holding. Drawing the animals? What a good idea!

Aya, with a satchel slung over her shoulders fully of goodies and such for the many creatures in the enclosure, was perched on the wooden fence, unsure where she wanted to start today. There were so many creatures!

Though clearly she would be working with the winged horses, but did she want to head into one of the trees first? Play with those creatures? Hm.

With so many options, the prefect was content to sit for a moment and think on it.

Cece had decided to take a walk out on the grounds and ended up finding herself at the Magical Creatures Sanctuary. Okay, so maybe she didn't just find herself there, just maybe she knew all along where she had been heading. Just maybe she was hoping to run into a certain professor.

Walking around looking at all the creatures she tried not to look too disappointed at not finding the one she was looking for. Not that Willy was a creature by any means but he was the one she was looking for. Of course she would never admit to him that she had been out looking for him.

Willy wandered into the Magical Creatures Sanctuary at last, tugging his lobalug along in a bucket with him. He had checked it out to make sure it wasn't harmed after he'd stunned it and now that it was angrily thrashing about in its bucket, he was more than certain that it was okay and wanted to get out.

He was almost to the pond at the back of the Sanctuary when he spotted a creature that sure wasn't one of his usuals.

"Cece!" Willy called out, so surprised to see her out of the castle that he dropped the bucket. He recovered it quickly and peeked his head in to see if the lobalug was okay, though the thing was OBVIOUSLY fine as it squirted a bit of venom his way.

William missed the venom by this much, moving his head just in time as the thing eyed him grumpily. He quickly picked the bucket back up and moved on toward the Healer, greeting her with a big smile.

"What are YOU doing out here?!!"

Cece had stopped to look at the Salamanders' when she heard someone call her name. Not just someone... it was the someone she was hoping to see. Turning around she had a huge smile on her face... that quickly disappeared when she seen that thing spitting at Willy. "I..I was just... I thought I should come check on you. To you know, make sure you haven't been poisoned or anything. You know, by things like... that." She said pointing at that ugly looking thing in the bucket. The one that had just spit at him.

Yep, she was just out doing her job... as the healer... checking to make sure the handsome professor was still fine.

"Ohhhhh pfffft," Willy made a silly dismissal motion with his hand, resisting the urge to giggle for some reason, and tugged the lobalug closer to the pond. He turned it over, then, dumping the whole little creature into the pond without another thought. The thing seemed to adjust to the new environment quickly, swimming off without another squirt of venom.

Good.

He turned back around and flicked a bit of dried venom off his earlobe. "I survived a good swim down in the lake, did I tell you? The merpeople practically GAVE me that little guy." He thumbed toward the lobalug over his shoulder. "I only had to make a hundred promises I probably won't keep first, but no big deal!"

Hehe.

He made promises to the merprople... for that thing... was he crazy? "Why would you want that thing?" Seriously, why would he want half the creatures that he had here?

Ohhh maybe he was secretly hoping he would get hurt, so he would have to come to see her in the hospital wing.

"Well, there's a lot of reasons." William moved back toward the lake and invited Cece closer, squatting down so he could point out the lobalug, which was doing laps around the pond in ecstasy.

"For one thing, the venom of this little guy is a HIGHLY valuable, rare, and expensive potions ingredient," which she, the Healer, should know, "and for another... well it's a weapon!" He grinned at her. "The merpeople use them like those Muggle stun batons or whatever they're called. I thought the students might like to study one up close."

And by 'students' he meant himself and the few other creature nerds that wandered into the Sanctuary on a rare occasion.

Elise added swirls of ultraviolet and was about to pick up the vermilion pastel when she felt herself being shaken by the shoulders. Mildly annoyed, she turned around to see Beezus.

"Beezus!" she grinned, hugging her. "I'm drawing the pretty firecrab," she said, pointing towards the shiny creature. "Wanna try?" she asked, pulling out a pencil and some loose paper.

Picking up an azure pastel, she shaded in the shadows before looking back up at the fire crab. Using a honeydew pastel, she colored in the jewels before going over them again with gold. Perfect.

What to draw next?

Finally finding some time away from prefecting and everything else that was going on, Kurumi made her way to the sanctuary which, really, was sort of her own personal sanctuary. A place were she could go and just sit with magical creatures and take care of them as often as she wanted!? What could be better?!

As she entered, she saw Professor Williamson speaking with the Healer, who she hadn't really had a conversation with yet so she didn't want to interrupt and instead began making her way towards the sanctuary's edge to feed the Augurey some bugs when something caught her attention and she began walking backwards towards the two.

"I'm...I'm sorry to interrupt," Kurumi said with a small bow. "But, would you happen to be talking about the lobalug?" She pointed to the creature. That much seemed obvious. "I, um, actually wanted to ask if I could help care for it after the lesson, but I..." was too upset about how MEAN the professors had been. "...didn't get the chance to ask."

Alyssa entered the sanctuary through the gates and decided that she'd feed some of the creature there. She would have loved to feed the Hippogriffs like she had last term during CoMC class but Professor Williamson had told her to stay away from them for now. So Alyssa decided to go look for the Flobberworms and feed them.

She knew that they lived in damp ditches, carrying the bag containing lettuce and cabbage, she walked the grounds of the sactuary until she spotted a damp ditch. She looked for signs of the presence of the Flobberworms. She looked carefully and saw trails of mucus. They were definitely living here. Alyssa took out some of the leaves of lettuce and cabbage and lay them on the ground and squatted down to wait for them to come out.

After a couple of minutes she saw the ten inch brown worms coming slithering out and feed on the food. Alyssa added more lettuce and cabbage and soon more of the Flobberworms came out and swarmed over the vegetation. As they fed, Alyssa kept a look out for the other creatures making sure that they didn't get close to the Flobberworms as they fed. While they were feeding they exuded mucus. Alyssa was wondering whether she could collect some of the mucus which she knew was useful in some potions.

"I hope you don't mind me taking some of your mucus while you eat, little ones," Alyssa said to the Flobberworms as she took out a flat piece of small wood from her bag and a bottle and started scooping the mucus up as the Flobberworms ate. She hoped that Professor Lafay could possibly use them to restock her supply.

Alyssa poured the rest of the vegetation on the ground for the Flobberworms as she left them to feast on it. As she made her way out of the Sanctuary, Alyssa decided to stop by the trees where the Jobberknolls were known to roost. She didn't bring any food for them this time but she would the next time she was here. Right now she was here to pick up any of the feathers they had shed. Like the Flobberworm mucus, Alyssa had read that Jobberknoll feathers were also used in potions. So as she spotted them on the ground under the trees, Alyssa bent and picked them up and placed them in her bag. Once she had collected a fair amount, she looked up and waved goodbye to them because she knew that they were probably looking down at her.

With her task done for the day, Alyssa made her way out of the Sanctuary, making sure that she closed the gates behind her.

Moving closer to the lake Cece carefully squatted down next to Willy. "Yes, I'm sure Hecate would love to get her hands on that little guy." What potions professor wouldn't?

Weapon... students...

"You sure you want to let the students..." Before Cece could finish her sentence she was rudely cut off by this inconsiderate... student. Looking back at the student she seen it was the one from the feast that was giving everyone cookies. Really, just because she gave cookies to people didn't give her the right to interrupt two adults having a conversation. Didn't her parents teach her how rude that was? "And you think now is a good time to ask?" Cece glared at the child as if daring her to continue interrupting them.

"Oh you're not interrupting!" William beamed at Kurumi, rather pleased to see her actually. He stood up and waved her over to the lobalug, shooting a confused look at Cece before he came to the conclusion that she was just being sarcastic.

HA! Oh. "Yes, good one, Healer Tillstorm." He nudged her playfully with a wink. "Now IS the perfect time to ask, Kurumi! I was just about to go fetch a little bucket of minnows and tadpoles to feed to it. I'll be right back."

And Kurumi had reminded him to post up a notice about visiting the lobalug later. Good girl! He trotted off to find the bucket of lobalug bait.

"Oh.." She peeked at the girl's sketchpad. "It's very pretty.." Beezus commented. Maybe she should also try drawing firecrabs? That would have been wonderful, if only she knew how to draw animals. Sadly, her hands only knew how to draw landscapes. "Hmm..maybe I'll pass. I'll need more practice." she told Elise when she asked if she wanted to try.

For a little while, she observed how her fellow Ravenclaw was adding colors on her drawing. She could use her technique some day. But then..a certain creature passed beside her and..

"A kneazle!" Beezus exclaimed. The not-so-furry creature turned its head in her direction. Gaaaah! So cute! She thought. "Hey kneazle..come here.." she said as she spread her arms and beamed at the cat-like creature. Will she be able to pet it? She sure hopes so!

Yes? Was that an alright answer for the scary looking Healer? Kurumi was pretty sure that she had just found Evelyn's replacement, and in an unlikely place. And...Kurumi HAD just said excuse me. It wasn't as if she had just appeared and shoved her way into the conversation. Remind her never to take a trip to the Hospital Wing, which wouldn't be a problem so much now that she wasn't play Quidditch.

Thankfully, Professor Williamson came to the rescue and CONFIRMED that it was the appropriate time to ask. "Brilliant," she smiled. Not that she really fancied feeding minnows and tadpoles to anything though. Kurumi really liked tadpoles, they were super cute. But, she was going to have to get over this notion if she was really serious about working with dragons. No dragon would settle for a tofu shaped goat for example.

With Professor Williamson gone, it was just her and Healer Grump...which was sort of awkward. Kurumi bowed awkwardly in the woman's direction as a sign of apology. But, the man had said so himself, it was an appropriate time to have asked.

Elise pushed her hair behind her ear and smiled. "You think so?" she asked, a little surprised. Her father'd always told her that her drawings were a waste of time. "I could teach you," she said, shrugging. It wasn't hard.

Just then, a flash of bright orange rushed by her and... scattered her pastels everywhere. Sighing, she picked them up and put them back in the box. Just then, a shrill sound nearly burst her eardrums. Oh, Merlin. It was Beezus.

Shrugging she leaned against the tree and began the early works of drawing Beezus with the Kneazle in her arms. Bright orange, vermilion, cobalt blue, black. It was just rough, but the shapes of Beezus and the fluffy thing Kneazle in her arms were starting to become developed.

Not interrupting? William couldn't be serious here.

Okay, so maybe he was. And he was still as oblivious as he was when they were younger. Seriously... Good one? Cece was totally serious here. Now was NOT a good time for this kid to interrupt them.

William was just going to leave Cece there with this... kid? This kid who thought it was perfectly fine to butt into a conversation two adults were having.

Turning towards Krummy once William was gone Cece glared at her some more. Really, did she think a little bow was going to make things better here? "You may have most of the professors around here fooled with your little goody, goody act but you don't fool me one little bit. You think just because you're a prefect who gives out cookies you should be allowed to do whatever you want." Yeah, Cece seen the way this kid had been sucking up to the professors at the feast with those stupid little boxes of cookies. Her little act may have worked with some of the professors but it was NOT working with her. "Do yourself a favor kid... stay out of my way." As in walk the other way the next time she sees the healer. Do NOT interrupt her again... EVER!

Turning back towards the way William went she crossed her arms over her chest. For the sake of that kid over there he better be getting back real soon.

William jogged back to where the Healer and the Prefect stood, both apparently waiting for something from him. He had no idea what was going on between the two of them, because he too far away to hear anything either said and he was also far too preoccupied with the lobalug to do much else anyway.

"Look! Fishes!" he called out joyfully, setting the white bucket down at the edge of the pond and reaching a hand inside. "Come on now, Kurumi, don't be shy! Toss something in, see what he likes!"

Willy tossed in a handful of skinny little minnows first, then crept closer to the edge of the pond to see how the lobalug would react. "You too, Cece, come on, give it a try!" Don't be shy! Feeding creatures was FUN!
