| | |  Gobstones Consolation Match: Ravenclaw vs. Gryffindor
Though this match was more laid back than some of the others, Josephina did find that the Consolation Match was good for learning and brushing up on pointing and shooting. And who knew, perhaps next term, one of these players would help lead their house to victory?
Entering the court area, she noted the bumps and bridges on the court, along with a few rocks scattered about, and removed the two twin bags from her tote. One bag filled with red marbles, the other blue.
Upon seeing a few players from each house, she nodded respectively to both houses, handing them their respective colored stones before placing the large Jack Stone carefully in the middle. "You've read the rules. Horseplay and cheating will not be tolerated. Good luck." ooc: match will start in literally a couple of hours. | |

Just as Fina raised her hand to signify for the players to take their respective coloured stones into their hands, something strange happened.... and she accidentally knocked one bag of marbles that was sitting on the edge, as they scattered onto the court....
Flustered, she gulped apologetically as she hurried to clean up and restore the court to originally setting, putting the marbles back into its bag. Whoops. Now tried that again.

And the students didn't seem to pay any mind to her little moment of clumsiness. No. They patiently waited and once she gave the signal, they rolled. Or rather two females did. Ira Wilson and Ellie Stone. No doubts about it that Ellie was fiercely competitive when it came to gobstones, but alas, her stone overshot the center Jack Stone this time . . .
. . . the red one rolled by Miss Wilson, however, rolled right up to the Jack Stone. And Lions take the first point of the match!!

Hardly containing the excitement of the match, Gideon Gert rolled his stone.... it wasn't bad .... it rolled close to the Jack Stone, but the point could have easily been stolen by the Eagles.... which it almost was .... as Vashti Greenwell takes a shot. Her blue stone rolls over the bumps on the court and right up next to the red stone.... just outside it, just farther from the Jack Stone ...
And Gryffindors take the point and now lead in both points and rounds!

Gryffindors were on a roll tonight, as Gideon rolled another red stone onto the court, it rolled .... and clearly he figured out to point his stone , rather than aim to shoot toward the Jack Stone, as it seemed to be working to his advantage. The red stone sped quickly toward the Jack Stone to a closer stop than that of the blue one rolled by Miss Greenwell.

And from nowhere, it seemed, the quiet second year lion who scored first point of the match, she was back. And Ira Wilson, though she'd been laying low, she knew the rules of the game and was quite the fair pointer.
Her red stone was neck to neck with that of the blue stone rolled by Vashti. But unlike the last roll, the red stone just rolled just that little bit closer to the Jack Stone .... Gryffindors take the point AND the round!

If no one else appreciated the break, the Head Girl certainly did by way of how her rolling her blue stone improved. Carefully measuring out the path she hoped the blue stone would take, she released her stone at the precise moment that Miss Hollingberry did. Both stones rolled equally fair amounts .... the blue stone however, rolled to a stop just that little bit closer to the Jack Stone than the red stone.
