As you proceed inside the room off the Great Hall, you enter an enormous room lined with portraits of some of the greatest dueling champions, and others of bored portraits who just want to spectate. In the center of the room, there is a long royal blue stage with the phases of the moon on it, beginning with a full moon in the middle, and ending with a star on each side. In spite of its size, there is still plenty of room around the stage for students to practice spell casting with each other. The room hasn't been used in a few years so it's not in the best possible condition. There are a few broken bookshelves on both the sides, mostly empty or occupied by the resident spiders and their cobwebs, some empty trophy stands at the end of the room, and long benches similar to the ones in the great hall aligned against the wall. This room will be used for practice sessions, duels, and meetings. The room may be reserved for official duel matches.

IC Standard Dueling Rules

4. No physical contact
5. Duel until the opponent is disarmed. Mild injuries resulted by hexes, jinxes and other spells as a means to weaken and distract the opponent are inevitable and acceptable.

8. Wands are required. Wandless magic is not allowed; this includes apparition, shape shifting, such as animagus forms, etc.
No spells that cause severe physical injuries, such as the Fire Producing Charm, the Severing Charm, the Reductor Curse, etc.

After spotting the Spell Assignment on the notice board, Vashti decided to start practicing as soon as possible. She headed into the room off the Great Hall immediately...and found that no one else was there. Well...at least if she messed up, no one would be around to see. She wasn't going to immediately try casting the spell though. That incantation was rather long - she needed to make sure she could pronounce and say it correctly first.
Vashti took a seat on one of the benches against the wall and took out her wand and the little scrap of paper that she'd written the incantation and wand movement on. "Ver...di...mill...ious? VERdiMILLious? Verdimillious?" That sounded about right...

"That is correct." Gnaeus replied as he entered the room. He knew the girl hadn't been speaking to anyone in particular, or at least she shouldn't have because there was no one else in the room. His intention wasn't to startle her. He had momentarily excused himself from the dueling room to pick up a snack in the kitchens but decided to leave the room unlocked in case anyone wanted to practice. Good thing he did. As he approached the girl he repeated himself and gave her a firm nod. Then, he made his way to the center of the room, where he stood to oversee the students practicing. He also wanted to make himself available in case they had any questions or concerns. He was glad to see that some students had taken the initiative to practice... He was going to need experienced duelists to help him in the future.

Vashti's head jerked up when she suddenly heard a voice. Oh, it was just Mr. Spenser. She hadn't heard him come in...unless he'd been there the whole time and she just hadn't noticed? She wasn't that unobservant though, so he must've entered without her noticing. When he said she was saying the incantation correctly, she smiled, relieved. "Thank you, sir." It was good to know, so she could move on to the wand movement now. She glanced at her piece of paper to remind herself what it was: a forwards slashing motion.
She raised her wand arm and tried it out a couple times, moving her arm forward and in a sort of diagonal line, as if she was trying to slash something in half. "Is this right, sir?" Better make sure before she tried to pair the incantation up with this movement. Who knew what might happen if either of them were incorrect?

He had been pondering on whether to keep practicing on his dueling skills or just...be lazy and do nothing, but after receiving a letter from his godfather, in which the man stated that Kennedy should have learned valuable skills by the end of the school term. Kennedy decided that practicing new spells would be proof of his learning.
So, after reading the notice board and writing down the incantation and wand movement on his pocket size notebook, Kennedy stepped inside. The first thing he noticed were two people standing in the room. "Hello," he said with a small wave. He looked around and wondered with what they were going to practice with. Did they have any dummies they could blast off?
Eino silently made his way to the dusty and old looking room off the great hall. He had some extra time and he could use some additional practice when it came to spell casting, so why not make use of his resources. He had a room, permission to duel there, and an expert to help him, and that didn't come around very often. "Hello." He said to those in the room, giving each of them a nod. He first dropped his bag and books by the benches, then made his way towards the other two students. Now, try with the incantation!" He encouraged her, and moved slightly off to the side, giving her enough space to perform the spell.

Kennedy thought about that for a second. So far, he's known he was a wizard for five months, so that would put him at a great disadvantage with the other guy. Plus, what Professor Gnaeus had said about his wand was still stuck in his head. So..."I'm here to practice the spell," he said, a bit ashamed. He didn't want to look like a coward, but what was the use of dueling when he already knew the outcome; him sprawled on the floor with a twitching leg. Yeah, no thank you.

Duel? No, no. Eino shook his head, then realized that wasn't a real answer, since it wasn't a yes or no question. "I'm here to practice, not to duel." He explained. Or at least not any time soon, but he would like to go on the stage thingie and duel some time. It looked fun when the some of the students did it during the first meeting.

He moved a little further away from everyone else, just to be safe, and resumed his practice. This time, Eino recited the incantation as he made a sharp and powerful diagonal slashing movement with his wand. "Verdimillious." The tip of his wand glowed green before releasing a small set of sparkles. It was more like just the tip of his wand had crackled because it was so unimpressive. That was nothing like Vashti's had been, and probably not what Gnaeus Spenser was looking for.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Daichi walked towards the room off the great hall. He wanted to practise spells since he wasn't the best at it. It always frustrated him that younger people than him were able to perform a spell and he couldn't.
Silently walking through the room he saw a few other students already practising under the guidance of the Professional Duelist, including Kennedy A.K.A his Hero~ Daichi waved his hand towards him with a smile before he
sighed, if only he could be so cool to win duels too. It was his dream to become the best duelist and beat the man right there one day. "H-hello, sir" he said and bowed slightly. Forgetting that bowing was the first step for a duel.

Joanna crept into the room, hesitating if this was a good idea. She wanted to become a member in the dueling club, and she heard that you need to ask some dude to get permission. The problem was, she didn't even know how this dude looked like. Beginning walk closer to the center of the room, the Ravenclaw thought to herself, "Oh... Joanna why didn't you sign-up with everyone else?!" Probably because of her shyness towards strangers, she'll run away,before he or she will notice her.As Joanna neared herself to the group of people, she noticed the dude who's in charge, it was obviously him because he had a long white beard and he was rather... old. Nervously, Joanna neared herself towards him and said, "He... Hello."

She almost jumped when he EMPHASIZED that she was supposed to firmly shout the incantation, and banging his staff on the ground didn't help much - but it got his point across. It definitely got his point across. "Y-Yes, sir." Blink. Blink.
Time to try it though, she supposed. "So...like this?" She moved her wand in the diagonal slashing motion once more and shouted said loudly, "VERDIMILLIOUS!"
Several more green sparks shot out of the end of her wand, all of them making their little explosions and crackling sounds.

Joanna crept into the room, hesitating if this was a good idea. She wanted to become a member in the dueling club, and she heard that you need to ask some dude to get permission. He replied, trying not to sound so intimidating, but it was impossible for him to achieve that. Clearly she wanted something, but she definitely wasn't part of the Dueling Club, so what could her business be.

"Ohoho, very good, Miss Greenwell!" The old man replied with a single clap. "It seems you have mastered the spell. If you have some time to spare you can help the younger students or maybe practice others spells mentioned in our meeting."
Here came Treyen Lockhart to practice, yes? Because he wanted to be better than the one predecessor that ever said to be great at dueling...and it may have been true, he really didn't know, but he was acting on his own account for this one.
So. Improvement.
That's why Treyen was here, with his wand. "Good day, Sir." He nodded once at the dwarf man from the Dueling Lesson. It seemed Vashti had gotten the hang of something. That was good.

Eino looked behind him at Vashti and exchanged a smile. "Thank you." He replied timidly. The old tiny man then walked right by him but his attention was taken away from Eino when a another Ravenclaw student entered the room. Thank Merlin. It was difficult practicing when he was being watched by someone like a professor. This was the main reason why he was nervous to duel, but he really wanted to.
Concentrating on his spell, Eino repeated another sharp and precise diagonal slash with his wand, and said the incantation, louder this time than before. "Verdimillious!" This time more sparks shot from the end of his wand and fluttered around for a short while before they crackled and exploded. He tried one more time, but this time spoke louder and firmly. "Verdimillious!" And slashed his wand, as though he was severing the air. This time several bright green sparks ejected from his wand, so powerfully that he had to tighten his grip. The sparks fluttered around like previously, but this time generated a much more impressive explosion. "Wicked!" The boy exclaimed.
Here came Treyen Lockhart to practice, yes? Because he wanted to be better than the one predecessor that ever said to be great at dueling...and it may have been true, he really didn't know, but he was acting on his own account for this one.

"Verdimillious!" And slashed his wand, as though he was severing the air. This time several bright green sparks ejected from his wand, so powerfully that he had to tighten his grip. The sparks fluttered around like previously, but this time generated a much more impressive explosion. "Wicked!" The boy exclaimed.
"Well done, young wizard. It seems you have mastered the spell." Another Ravenclaw student had mastered the spell without much trouble. Maybe the spell was too easy, maybe Gnaeus would have to assign something a little more challenging next time.
The old man continued to pace the large room, watching the students practice.
Hmm? Another student entered the room, but Gnaeus did not recognize this young Ravenclaw. "Hello, Miss." He greeted the nervous looking girl. "Anything I can help you with?" He replied, trying not to sound so intimidating, but it was impossible for him to achieve that. Clearly she wanted something, but she definitely wasn't part of the Dueling Club, so what could her business be.
He didn't seem very intimidating... phew... Joanna was already beginning to think of an escape plan. Joanna repeated his question in her head, "Anything I could help you with?" still hesitating if this was a wise thing to do, she began saying "I... I was wondering if I could join the dueling club," and this time she tried to show the real confident her. It was actually rather odd, only towards the teachers here she didn't have the guts to talk to, but towards everyone else, she can talk without any shame.

Deciding that it was time to start practicing that new spell, Gwendolyn rushed along the corridor, heading over to the room off the great hall. Not even minding that she bumped into a few students just because she was in a hurry, she kept walking rapidly. What? Like I’m going to apologize for them standing in MY way?, the Ravenclaw thought, trying desperately not to roll her eyes.
The door swung open, and Gwen finally came in. ‘Hello Sir’, she said, realizing after a while that he was there. ‘Hi’, she smirked to the other students. The second year scanned the place and noticed a few familiar faces around. Like Joanna… But it’s best not to interrupt her, Gwen thought and decided to start practicing on her own.

"Hmmm, that can be arranged." The man said, still thinking, after listening to the young Ravenclaw's request. "You must familiarize yourself with all the rules," He pointed towards the board with the Standard Dueling Rules, and you must find a student, a member of the dueling club, who will be willing to help you do so." He looked around the room and gestured to all the students that were currently practicing. They were all dueling club members who could help the young Ravenclaw.

Okay. The first try was failed. Raven was ready to try te spell for the second time..
"Verdimillious!!" A weak green sparks shot from her wand.
Not bad.. Try again. her wands were ready and tried for the third time..
"VERDIMILLIOUS!!!" she said the incantation louder and several light green sparks shot out from her wand.
"Cool!!!"
