Slytherin vs Ravenclaw

Stepping into the Gobstones arena, Josephina couldn't help but feel ODD. It was late to be starting the first matches of the term, but she was confident that they would be able to finish. After all, the school term still had a good five months.

Removing the twin Gobstones bags from her tote, one full of blue stones and the other green ones, she set them on the playing table as she waited for the players to arrive.

"Right then. You should have familiarized yourselves with the rules by now," Fina said, as they filed around the table. "I want a clean match. Zero tolerance for cheating. And let the game begin." With that, she placed the Jack Stone carefully in the center of the table and stepped back to watch.

And the players take their first shots, with Ravenclaw being slow and cautious, at least initially. But seventh year, Jasmina Bennett takes control for the Eagles, as she rolls her blue stone onto the table. It rolls for a bit and takes the spot just a few millimeters from the Jack Stone.

Can Slytherins outdo it? Probably. But wait. Where did they disappear to? Josephina was sure she saw at least two around the table....

Ah well, Ravenclaw gains the first point!

Time to reset the court; well not exactly, as both teams still had two more shots as a chance to win the round. Which team would it be, only time would tell, as Evelyn Flores of Slytherin rolls the green stone like a pro.

Snake venom? Glancing toward the viewing area, Fina couldn't help but crack a smile at the sight of the Ravenclaw Head of House. She was sure though that the green stones probably had snake venom in it, which if Ravenclaw didn't step it up, it would be all over them.

There was definitely more noise than usual coming from the viewing area, which sort of added a sense of thrill to the Gobstones game. Sure the sport wasn't as violent as Quidditch, but it was definitely equally as smelly what with the gob spewing marbles.

Eino Uronen stepped up to the court and rolled his blue stone - it rolled and rolled, but didn't stop before seventh year, Marilyn Force took a turn. And Merlin - those seventh years were NOT ones to mess with this game it seemed! Marilyn Force scores the point for Slytherin, as Slytherin wins the first round of the match!

It seemed no amount of loud cheering for the Eagles could deter those seventh year snakes from that one goal: getting their stone near the Jack Stone.

Yes, that's right! Clean court, but those feisty she-snakes know how to play the game, as Marilyn Force rolls with precision and her green stone rolls quite close to the Jack Stone.

Had the cheering died down briefly? Perhaps the initial excitement of Gobstones was lost, as apparently spectators preferred viewing more violent actions of bludgers and quaffles, as supposed to the subdued rolling of stones.

Speaking of Stones, there was the one from Ravenclaw! Ellie Stone, that is, who proves that her blue stone rolling can be a good match up for the seventh years. Oh yes, that's right, the Ravenclaw Captain and Seeker, Ellie Stone, has just scored a point for the Eagles!

Apparently the lack of cheering fans had affected the way the players rolled. Even Ellie, got a bit too enthusiastic and over-rolled the blue stone, as it rolled passed the others resting near the Jack Stone and over to the opposite edge.

And Marilyn? She under-rolled, her stone barely going more than a few inches.

"Remember. Take your time." Precision mattered.

an individual must show proper respect by bowing to them and waiting for them to bow in return before approaching. Eye contact should be maintained at all times without a single blink. The Hippogriff should be allowed to make the first move as it's polite.

The arrival of Destiny - or had she been here but just kept quiet - took Josephina by surprise slightly. Apparently it did the same to her fellow seventh year Snake, who rolled her green stone the same time, but Destiny's stone made it into the circle .... by a smidgen.

Ellie was not having any of it though; with a certain carefulness, she rolled her blue stone which KNOCKED the green one right out of the circle (note: Destiny's answer counts for Slytherin and being that i was looking for it to include something about 'waiting for them to bow back'...)

Ravenclaw gains the point and the advantage for the second round.

Apparently it seemed as Seventh Years had overtaken the Slytherin population. Or at least of those who played Gobstones. Considering Caroline Scott, yet another she-snake seventh year, stepped up to the court and rolled her green stone. In was a good roll, admittedly, as it reached just inside the circle.

The fifth year Eagle, Ellie, wasn't going to give up though for this round. She rolls her blue stone with little effort, but still precision, and it rolls inside the circle and right to the center Jack Stone! Gob ~~Or was it really snake venom?~~ spewed over the Slytherin females!

Ravenclaw takes the point and the round, now tying the match!
