Louisa saw him accelerating just a little bit. She gulped and followed suit. The broom underneath her was jerking slightly at times, especially when the girl had gripped the handle too strongly, and that made Louisa's heart flutter with each jerk. Though she didn't lose her balance or scream.. which was something to be proud of.

"N-n-no. It's all right." Her voice came out a bit more confident. He was flying in front of her and that made it remarkable safe to just look away from the broom and to him. She tried to relax her face and put on a smile - which ended up in a grimace - as the broom beneath her continued to fly and give a slight jerk every now and then.

Landing was the aim here, so Ashley circled only for a little while longer, being rather proud of himself for managing to do it without falling or being upside down or anything of the sort. Could he just stay in the air? He could fly to class, and hover at his desk, maybe. And he could sleep above his bed, too, just sort of stretched out on the broom. Of course, there were other things he wasn't too sure of how he was going to do them on a broom, and honestly, he didn't want to think about them too hard. So right, he was going to have to figure landing out.
He had managed to figure out how to go up and down, so all he really had to get was how to go down and slow close enough to the ground to get off, right? Down. And slow. Down was handled alright, but all that really meant was that he was going around a few inches off the ground again. Now for the slow, which he figured would eventually lead to a stop. Pulling back the handle, sitting as upright as he could, trying to pretend he wasn't afraid of tumbling backward this time, he slowed the broom until it stopped.
Wait, really??
Even though he'd been aiming for that result, Ashley really didn't expect it. He was sitting, hovering, and not on the ground, which was right there where he'd wanted it. In disbelief and relief that it had worked, he leaned forward and hugged the broom, which apparently just told it to go forward again, taking him across the pitch like a dart, straight ahead until he gathered himself enough to turn.

Violet's broom pitched backward suddenly, turning nearly vertical in the air while she hung on for dear life. Desparately she leaned forward again, and immediately the broom returned to horizontal and shot forward. Clutching the handle with both hands, Violet sat up again, pulling the handle toward her more gently this time. Thankfully, the broom slowed down without pitching her backward and now moved forward at a slow pace (but one that suited Violet just fine). She gingerly sat upright, still holding the broom, and looked ahead to see a pole looming up ahead in the distance. Oops, how do you turn this thing? Oh, yeah...

Violet carefully nudged the handle over to her right and felt the broom change direction, moving to the right in a graceful curve. How about that, she was flying! She kept her eyes ahead, to the right, to the left, anywhere but down.

Lilly grabbed one of the school brooms, feeling extra confident. She climbed on, said "up" and hovered for a minute, but soon was off. Lilly darted, finding she wasn't too bad. This was fun! She managed to gently stop the broom when she wanted to stop.

João slowed down as Louisa told it was alright, and started flying next to her. He then took a turn to the left as well after a few minutes' slow flying straightly to land on his starting point. That was what the professor had told them to do after all; go up, take a few turns and return.

"Shall we land?" he asked her. She was obviously not that confident up here on that broom. Honestly, he didn't trust his too. It vibrated a little--or was it his own suspicions?--and he wanted to land on the ground as much as she did.

Alright, he had done it once before. He could do it again. Ashley watched the ground go by, just barely resisting the urge to go up higher again. It was landing time now. He had to finish out the instructions set.
And since he had just done it, he was more confident in going through the steps needed to stop the broom, finding a clear spot and aiming for it as he sat back to slow the broom. Of course, he totally overshot the area he was aiming for, but he was getting good at big turns, perhaps he could try a small one? Not a sharp one. He really didn't want to end up upside down at this height, because that would mean his head was going through the ground, and he was pretty sure people didn't live through that kind of thing.
But a careful, small turn couldn't hurt, and he could always jump off if he started to go sideways, and so he turned the broom, heading back for the area he'd missed.
Oh yeah, he was going to allow himself a little smile as he reached the designated patch of grass and stopped the broom. Alright, it wasn't the exact area. He was going to have to practice some more for that kind of control, but he hadn't completely overshot it again. Nope, but it was nearby somewhere to the place he was finally putting his feet down, climbing off the broom and immediately falling over again.
Did he just trip off his broom??
That's so embarrassing!!
But he was on the ground, and it was 99% on purpose this time... that one had to count as a landing. Satisfied that he had completed the task at hand, he got to his feet again and summoned the broom to his hand so it wasn't just hanging out there.

Smiling rather formally at him she kept her steel grip on the broom but her head was lifted now and she could look further than the handle. At turning to the left side like he did, she moved her hands to steer the broom but was too quick, the broom shot to the left forcefully and a gasp escaped Louisa's mouth.

The broom was steady and the girl was still balanced on top of it - though she was technically lying on the stick, wrapped around it like a caterpillar. "Yes, please!" Let them land, quick!

Indy was actually loving this. It was so much fun, she wished she could have flying lessons every day. She was growing in confidence a lot, it was much easier to fly good when she wasn't having to think about catching a quaffle, or getting tackled by someone. It was very good. Indy leaned forward, the broom fastened up a little. It kind of happened a bit quick, and she wasn't really anticipating it. "Eep." She sqeaked a bit, leaning back, so that the broom slowed down a little. She hadn't been expecting that. Opps. Maybe she should stay going to the speed she was now. She didn't want to lose her concentration and end up falling off her broom. That would be not good at all. She really did not want that to happen when she was only little. She really didn't want to hurt herself, that would not be good at all.

João chuckled at her *pleading voice. She was afraid, wasn't she. He was terrified by the height too, but at least he was fine on aircrafts. Guess everyone had their own worries. Tilting the head towards the grounds, he landed swiftly, easily. He got off the broom when his feet touched the ground and turned to watch her descend to make sure all went alright.

Annabeth looked up from the broom to see an older student, "I think so," she said, "Thanks," she said as she helped her up. She then got on her broom and began to fly again, she was a bit wobbly but much better than the last time!!!

Louisa didn't have to push the broomstick toward the ground, it was already heading there. Louisa saw the ground getting nearer and she was sure that wrapping her arms and legs around the broom was not the landing-method the professor considered 'right' but she didn't really care at the moment, she was NOT going to trust this crazy stick.

Floating one ft over the ground Louisa loosened her grip and straightened up. Sweat covered her forehead and she quickly dismounted the broom. "We're alive!" She breathed out with a grin at Joao, and wiped her forehead with her sleeve.

Alyssa hovered over the ground for awhile as she looked at the other students flying around. Some looked like they knew what they were doing while others looked like they were having disagrements with their brooms. She saw someone halt too fast and fall head over heels but before she could go help them, she saw that someone had already come to their aid.

She decided to land for awhile, so she pointed her broom handle downwards and leaned a little forward. As she neared the ground, she pulled back up on the handle and slowly but surely the broom floated slowly downwards until she felt her feet touch the ground.

"Great landing", Alyssa told herself.

Nicki loved flying. She moved closer towards the handle and leaned forward. She immediately zoomed forward.....way too fast!!. She pulled back on the broom handle as fast as she could. The broom immediately stopped!!....and Nicki flew over the broom stick and landed on the grass. She rubbed her head. Thank goodness she hadn't been flying high over the grounds. She may have needed to see the nurse.

Matthew took one of the brooms, and firmly said "up" when he was on properly. He flew slowly at first, but soon got the hang of it and was speeding round the pitch. He passed Lilly Deluise and called out "slowcoach! as he darted past her.

Alyssa quickly dismounted her broom ran over to see whether Nicki was alright. "Are you okay? You sure took a tumbler there. I noticed that you had pulled up too hard on your broom when you were trying to stop. You need to pull it up slowly."Alyssa advised Nicki. "Here let me show you".

Alyssa mounted her broom and kicked off. She leaned forward on her broom moving a little closer to the handle to pick up speed. She pointed her broom handle upwards and immediately flew up. She then pointed it down a little so that she would make a complete circle heading back downwards towards Nicki. As she got closer to Nicki, she sat upright and pulled back slowly on the handle. The broom came quietly to a slow hover right in front of Nicki.

"Why don't you try it. Remember don't pull up too hard." I'll take off with you and help guide you if you want."

Penny regrouped after bumpy landing, both hands on the broom, she kicked hard off the ground again ... She knew that this was the best feeling ever and felt such freedom whenever she was in the air..

She decided to try the one-handed flying trick, that was always a move worth knowing, given that she was hoping to get back onto the house quidditch team.

Slowly taking her left hand off the broom, keeping a good grip with her right hand - She felt very daring, and a little scared... "Grow Up girl", she scolded herself again...

Penny flew one-handed for a few minutes before placing her hand back on the broom... She was going to try landing again - this time smoothly !!

Pointing her broom towards the ground, Penny slowly descended to the grass below.... coming to a stop a few inches off the ground - Reaching out her feet to touch the ground - she allowed herself a smile.

"Much better", she thought happily.

"Hey!" Lilly realised she had slowed down a lot. She leant forward, racing Matthew. "Right back at ya!" Lilly called back to him as she narrowly overtook him. Then she slowed down and gently stopped. Lilly wasn't that bad as it had been her first time ever on a broom.

Nicki was grateful for Alyssa's help. "Thank you so much for asking whether I was okay. I'm really okay. It's just my ego that's bruised. Yes I'm ready to try again. Thanks again for the offer to help.".

Nicki quickly got back on her broom and kicked off. She leaned forward on her broom and slowly the broom moved forward. She decided to lean a little bit more forward to get some speed and the broom complied with her wishes. It moved swiftly forward and Nicki was back up flying!!

Indiana was feeling a little tired now. This was bad, she was tired after only about 5 minutes. How was she going to manage for a whole quidditch match, she was definetly to need excersise a bit, so that she was active enough for the match. But for now, she slowed her broom down a bit, so she wasn't going so fast. Hopefully that would conserve a bit of her energy though, she really didn'rt want to be that tired. It would really suck. As she went a bit slower, she was able to watch a few other people. Ooh. Some of these people were really good. She wasn't surprised though, they looked much older than she was, which probably meant that they had had loads of flying lessons. Indiana only hoped she was that good at flying when she was there age. She turned her attention fully back to her broom, and leaned forward a little, speeding the broom up. She gripped tight, and leaned slightly over, turning the broom, so that she could follow the curve of the stadium. Ooh. That felt fun, even though she could kind of look down at how far she was up now. Big height. Good thing she liked heights.

After she got done taking in the beautiful view from above, Jayden decided to fly around a bit after seeing that no one had fallen off of their broom or was going to fly into her...

"Here we go!" She giggled, happy to be in the air. Sure the broom wasn't the fastest one she had been on, but might as well enjoy the experience.

She circled the air a few times, and then took a small dive down to the ground, practicing landing.

Alyssa mounted her broom again when she saw that Nicki was safely off the ground. Kicking off the ground, she leaned forward on her Firebolt and sped up to catch up with Nicki. Flying alongside her, Alyssa felt free as a bird flying up there on her broom. She loved flying. She suddenty felt a pang of disappointment. She had failed to make her House's Quidditch team. The first in her family's line to not be in it. Her Dad had been in and her grandfather and great-grandfather before him. But she shook off her disappointment. There was always next year, and she made a promise to herself that she was going to practice all year round.

Flying in circles around the pitch, she leaned forward to speed up, she pulled slowly back in the handle to slow down. She leaned forward on her broom and pointed the handle upwards and downwards to make another small circle in the air. Then she straightened out her broom and looked over to see whether Nicki was still on her broom.

Nicki was grateful to Alyssa for flying alongside with her. It's not like she hadn't flown before. She had plenty of times. "I guess it was just nerves plus this is the first time I'm flying my Moontrimmer. It definitely is fast".

Nicki leaned slowly forward and her broom quickly sped up. Now that she knew how fast her broom was, she was able to figure out how far forward and how close to the handle she needed to lean forward to get the right speed. "Okay now to slow down and stop".

Nicki leaned back on her broom and slowly pulled back on the handle. Her broom started to slow down and eventually she was hovering over the ground.

"Yes I did it!!" She punched the air with one hand. She yelled over at Alyssa "Thanks for your help. I think that I've got the hang of it now."

Luna looked around for a few minutes and then started zooming around the pitch again up and down

Luna excited to learn to fly but shy not knowing anyone walked over to an empty broom and waited for further instructions.

Indiana had gained some of her breath back now, and she wasn't feeling that tired anymore. That was good, maybe she was getting a bit fitter. That was very good. She was having so much fun, flying was turning out to be one of her favorite lessons at Hogwarts. She was also feeling a little braver now, and was getting used to flying at a faster speed. She was really going to enjoy these lessons. As long as she didn't get hurt anyway. She leaned forard a little, making the broom go a little faster. She really didn't want to go too fast, but not too fast. She didn't want to lose control, which would be bad, and she didn't want to look bad. It would be really embarrassing. Leaning to right she followed the curve of the stadium, but she hit a bit of wind, and kind of lost control a little. Eep. She held on tight, and leant back a bit, slowing the broom down, so she'd be able to control it a bit better.
