A surly looking Mr. Stryker is seated on a bench. As you enter the gazebo, he'll motion for you to take a seat on either a pillow, beanbag, or good ol' concrete. Your choice.
Please, come in! The lesson will begin shortly (OOC: 4pm EST, 9pm GMT (I think...) tomorrow), so feel free to talk amongst yourselves.

Falling into a string of soft giggles at the simple task of standing up, Alfie stood before him, turning her blue eyes over to him with pure amusement shining behind them. "I'm up, first step!" she chirped with a soft chuckle. Stepping away from the many bean bags on the ground, the pair stepped a bit more towards what had apparently been dubbed as a make shift dance floor. Standing as they waited for the instruction to start, Alfie stood right before Theo, one hand still entwined with his, but the other seeming completely out of place dropped at her side. "Do you know where I put this?" the blonde asked, holding up her free hand to show him with pure confused innocence behind her gaze. Of course, she'd never danced a waltz before, so she had no idea where the proper placement of her hands would be, so this question was completely legitimate. It was only as she registered her own question that she let out a sheepish sort of chuckle, realizing how silly it sounded.

Theodore scooped her up from the depths of the bean bag chair, which had threatened to swallow her up like quicksand. Beaming, he looked over his shoulder to see all of the other students and the lone professors reluctantly pairing up. Now wasn't the time for public displays of affection, which Alfeodore wasn't really a fan of. Alas, sometimes they couldn't help it. And being reprimanded for kissing your girlfriend in class by a professor, especially when you were a seventh year and should have known better, would be horrible. Thus, he kept his eyes off of Alfie's pretty face for the moment. It was too tempting.
Opening his mouth to answer her inquiries, he subsided into a light laugh. "You heard Professor Stryker," He laughed, standing erect in front of Alfie as per the teacher's instructions. Taking her right hand in his left and holding it into the air, Theodore reached around and placed his right hand on her upper back. "Easy enough, right?" He grinned, looking down at her to complete her own stance. "And... if I step on your feet, I apologize in advance," He mumbled, smirking. Although he truly would have felt guilty had his clown feet stepped on her small toes.

Alfie listened carefully and turned her curious gaze over to Professor Stryker as he instructed everyone in the class on how to stand, turning her expression back to Theo to figure out how to duplicate what was said. As Theo moved himself, placing his hand on her back and raising their clasped hands up closer to eye level, it seemed much easier to fall into the correct stance. Alfie gave a soft smile as Theo mentioned that it was easy enough, gently placing her left hand on Theo's right arm, as they were instructed. "Easy enough," she agreed with a warm smile, standing up a bit straighter and letting out a soft, friendly chuckle as Theo apologized in advance for possibly stepping on her feet.
"Theo, something tells me I will be the one stepping on your feet, so this is me apologizing to you in advance," the blonde assured him with an apologetic smile, rather amused with how they both seemed to be apologizing already. "You seem to give me credit for much more grace than I actually have," she pointed out with playfully raised eyebrows, flashing him a bit of a grin before glancing down at their feet curiously, her head gently resting on his chest due to their proximity. Realizing this, she quickly returned to her standing position, letting out a sheepish chuckle, "I guess we're not really supposed to look down at our feet, huh?"

Now she knew two people who lived in Cali with her, then moved here.

As his feet started moving perfectly in time of how a waltz should be, Matt thought about if he had indeed heard of the school that Maybelle was from; even though he knew the city like the back of his hand, he hadn't exactly heard of that school. "Hmm, Sands Academy? Where is that in comparison to the downtown core? Luke O'Connor, that name definitely sounds familiar.. I probably had met him at some point but a lot of other things this term have kept my mind pretty occupied so I can't exactly focus on anything else that doesn't have to do with the school mysteries." He wasn't distracted by just the mysteries, but the mere idea of the other thing that had caused him to get easily distracted made me grin ever so slightly; now was not the time for that.. it was time to focus on getting the steps right.

Huffing out a breath of air, Ellie nodded. Merlin, she needed to relax. This was just practice. In fact, they weren't even dancing yet. She took a deep breath. "Okay." She said with an embarrassed laugh. She was freaking out too much.
Watching their feet, Ellie saw Dallin wiggle his right foot. So that meant Ellie would use her left foot to move forward. Got it. And now he was counting? Was that supposed to mean something to her? Maybe it was a beat. Beat? Sure, why not. Ellie didn't know. So when Dallin started moving, she followed with her left foot. And back again. And, OH, to the side. Ellie didn't know where he was going to her movement was a bit choppy. She made a weird face, but managed to keep her balance. They stopped and she looked up at Dallin and blushed. "I'm a horrible dancer." She told him with a little laugh. As if he hadn't noticed.
"Hey, you aren't bad!" Dallin's tone was genuinely surprised. Sure, she wasn't a ballerina, but she hadn't even stepped on his feet yet! And they had only done three steps. But it was a start!
...A backwards start, though. Realizing this, Dallin's eyes widened and he looked down. How embarrassing; he should have stepped forward, not back. But um... it was okay, he could cover it up. He was willing to bet Ellie didn't know the way they were supposed to go anyway.
Ahem. "Let's try going the other way. So... you step back with your... right." Yeah, that sounded right. Hopefully.

It was a good thing Chad was good with instructions and directions, Seren found it almost effortless to follow him.
She tried not to focus too much on lefts and rights, because she would get ever so confused if she did. Rather she maintained eye contact and followed Chad's lead. He made it seem so easy!
"Your toes are still in tact," she mused, laughing lightly. That was one thing she hadn't been expecting.
No, that wasn't it, exactly. She was kind of fond of French. It was exotic. What Ellie did mind was the 'mademoiselle'. The word sounded too...nice for her to be addressed as such. And she wasn't precisely sure what it meant. Just female? Yes?
"I don't reall-" Hey! He found it amusing when she tried to copy Stryker? That was...Heh. "Unfortunately for you, then, my French vocabulary's nearly nonexistent." It pretty much only consisted of what she heard the Groundskeeper say. Actually, it very much consisted of only what she'd heard Chad say.
....Mind reader. Ellie pouted...for a brief moment. "Fine. I'll let you bask in your growth spurt.......for one dance." Treyen actually made it all the more tempting to stand on her toes.
She didn't...?
Whatever, he didn't care much for the ending of that sentence. He cared more for the ending of the other one, and he smiled once she was done talking. "I should be almost fluent in it, actually," but he wasn't, his cousins had learned English, so, he knew only the basic stuff in French. But what he knew, he knew well.
If she wanted to...they could try and expand her French vocabulary, though. Even expand his while they're at it, BUT...he didn't have that much interest in learning French. Now...Italian, that was something he wanted to learn.
His eyebrow was raised as she pouted. But he laughed wholeheartedly as she decided to let him fell taller (or be taller) for at least ONE dance. "I'm still taller," TRUE. Smirk.
BY AN INCH!
He shouldn't be too proud of that. But he truly wasn't. He never cared for heights before, yet being eye-leveled with Ellie was all he'd been wanting for a while.

Same if you wish to move sideways. The key is to make sure you are in sync, so...talk to each other. Communicate where you wish to go. Now...go!"
He turned his attention back to Seren. "Shall we?"

Treyen still nodded and...started to do as told by Stryker, or what he supposed Stryker had said, the Hufflepuff Prefect was only moving, swaying or whatever it was he did when waltzing, according to what he'd been taught before.
"Do you think Bentley is teaching him to dance, though?" he said TO ELLIE, meaning that Chad wouldn't be able to hear, maybe Bentley, but not Chad. Truthfully, Bentley seemed more at ease than he did.
Minnie looked up at Harvey and smiled. "Ok Harvey it's time to move. You just follow my steps. When I move this foot you move that one." They started the waltz. After a few minutes Minnie noticed something. She looked around the room. Well this is not fair she thought. Minnie knew how to dance she had done it all her life. So she turned and looked at the two standing off to the side. "Umm one of you could join us if you would like." Minnie turned to Harvey and gave a sheepish smile. "I hope you don't mind I just feel so bad they are being left out." She hoped Harvey understood. She was able to spend all the time with him outside of class she could share him during class.
Elsie continued to walk around untill someone in hufflepuff asked to join them to dance. She was so happy to finnaly be included she ran over. "Thankyou! I didn't think I would find anybody to dance with!" Elsie said smiling. "I'm Elsie!
Eris stepped back from dancing to wave at the girl quite childishly. "'ello!"
Then again, this would put their group at four, which would mean it would be best to split into two pairs. Besides, Eris could pass for a boy any day.
"So then why don't you lead Miss. Witsy to the dance floor and I get a turn with Miss. Janice....Madmoselle?" the young witch turned to face Janice with a grin, extending her hand lightly.
" Ok. I will dance with Witsy" Willaim told Eris. " You dance with Janice" William sadi to Eris. " You and Janice are reaaly cool" Willaim expalined to them.

The passive-aggressiveness (or just outright spoiled-brat-ness) that was radiating from Tori was beginning to be highly amusing to Stella, especially as she certainly had no intention of stealing poor, clueless August from her. Sure, he'd offered to partner with her, but that was the extent of her involvement of the situation. Well, that and having spoken to him on the train ride over, but neither detail meant anything other than possible friendship. She didn't work that way, despite what people might think of her. In fact, she'd be perfectly fine excusing herself if there was the odd chance anyone else would offer to step in while she was waiting for them to finish.
She could tell Auggie at least was curious about her statement about knowing the waltz already, but she let Tori have her little moment as they started dancing. Instead, she simply started semi-going through the steps herself, mostly in her head. Just because she didn't have a partner right now didn't mean she couldn't still at least hypothetically practice. Plus, she could amuse herself with watching the others in the gazebo. Espcially Monsieur Stryker and Professor Bentley, as they looked just as tentative as the students. This was certainly appearing to be yet another quite interesting Hogwarts lesson.

The.. other way? Oh, now he was just trying to confuse her, huh?! ...Probably not.
Right foot back? Sure, whatever. Ellie didn't have any idea, so she just did what Dallin told her to. Ellie stepped back with her right foot with Dallin, "And then...?" Like we said, Ellie didn't have any idea.

He turned his gaze to Cassie as he started to lead the way. He first stepped forward and then stepped backward. Nice and easy. "That's good" absolutely. At least he wouldn't get himself injured. "You're from Hufflepuff right?" he asked. He just wanted to confirm that one. He has seen Cassie before but he just couldn't put which house she was. he should have asked the first time but that would just be rude. Is it?
Right, this was going pretty decent. She liked this kid. He didn't talk too much and he didn't step on her toes. He was also way shy and Cassie needed to help him with that. He was probably a fifth year for crying out loud. To be a shy fifteen year old was just bad, plain bad. She looked around wondering if he had a girlfriend. Probably not..or she'd be dancing with him right now. Yeah she needed to help the poor kid.

Of course all of Hogwarts knew that the Puffs were the prettiest.

"Yeah, one of the guys in the crew I'm in back in New York is Brazilian and his brother taught him, and he taught me." She replied smiling. "I figured, I like music and I like sports, so why not? And I hated it instintly because it was so hard, but once I got in shape enough for it, I loved it! And the bonus...I've got a nice toned tummy now." She said jokingly, even if it was true. "But Tribal! That's something I've never done before. Can you teach me?" She asked Lauren hoping she'd say yes.
"Well, you're beautiful, there's no chance a guy wouldn't want to be your partner, and thank you by the way." She stated, still smiling, like always, she was just a cheerful person.
Orchid nodded at Mr. Stryker before she turned to face Lauren again, making sure they were in the right position. "Okay, so I guess I'll start by going forward three steps, left one, backwards two, make two right turns, and then go forward again. You follow?" She asked hoping she did, she really only did it like this cause she wasn't used to leading dances like this and she didn't want to step
on her feet. So, after that little explination she started to lead them and with surprising grace and composure as well.
"Oh, wow, you're so cool," Lauren smiled warmly at Orchid. She meant it to. "If I ever come visit you you'll have to let me join in! And introduce me to this Brazilian guy," she joked with a wink. "Oh, of course! Anytime," Lauren offered "I know a few different types from all over the place, but we can start with something simple."
"Well, clearly we should both be fighting off menfolk with a stick," Lauren joked, her cheeks warming at Orchid's compliment. She was so not used to hearing nice things about her appearance, but that had changed substantially since she became friends with Orchid.
Lauren instantly stepped into dancing mode, focusing on the steps with practised ease, her hand resting gently on Orchid's arm. She live for this, movement, rhythm. It was one of the few contexts where she took things seriously. "I follow," she affirmed, with a brisk nod of her blonde haired head.
"You're doing well," Lauren complimented Orchid with a lopsided grin.

Harvs stepped in to be Elsie's partner, it felt a little awkward not dancing with Minnie but he knew he could spend time with her outside classes. "Hi Elsie, How are you? My name is Harvey and I will one of you dance partners. Are you liking the class so far?" they are dancing

Jonathan noticed as the girl's head turning somewhere. Looking for someone, perhaps? A boyfriend? A friend who is a boy? Jonathan wanted to ask. A girl in her age should be having some love life nonetheless right?! Well, maybe not. Or maybe she is just looking fr her friends who came to this lesson. Who knows really. It was rude to ask her that since they barely know each other, so Jonathan didn't bother in asking anyways.
Jonathan began to lead. She's actually good at this, which is really a plus since Jonathan had his own fair share of dancing with clumsy girls. By the way, his toe can't still recover from the aching. His toe doesn't deserve being stepped on.
Jonathan laughed lightly as Cassie went on ahead with the conversation. Jonathan has to admit that yes, she was pretty and she did have a warm smile but how is that a connection to being a Hufflepuff anyway? So the sorting hat sorts them by smiles and beauty now? That's really funny. "Well..." Jonathan said still dancing the waltz. "I have seen you around school with the Hufflepuff uniform" probably the most basic and safest answer he said. Thing is, Jonathan doesn't know whether she is in the sixth or seventh year. "Graduating this term?" he guessed.
"I-I...don't?" she asked, taken aback a bit by his assumption. Kurumi never thought that she really radiated dancer - unless you wanted to look at kendo as a form of dance, which it could be a time with its foot work and sharp movements. In fact, her brothers were often telling her that it was the most complicated dance routine they ever learned, which wasn't really saying much considering that they all had two left feet. And then he was sliding down the wall and...sitting. Kurumi frowned a bit as she looked down at him. "I...can't really follow suit if I don't have a partner." She looked at him sheepishly. Perhaps some small part of her was picking up on his flirtation, but it certainly wasn't the conscious bit. Boys literally had to be declaring that they loved her before she realized that they had feelings for her - like last term...which had been awkward.
Her hair?! OH MERLIN SOMETHING WAS HAPPENING WITH HER HAIR. Kurumi ceased her tugging, failing to notice his slightly awkward dance-arm-jab towards her, and pulled her ponytail in front of her face. Nope, nothing strange happening...at least not at the moment. "W-W-W-What makes you think I did something to my hair?" she asked, only slightly panicked now. "I...just brush it..." A lot thanks to her mother insisting on at least one hundred times in the morning and another hundred in the evening. Could they stop talking about her hair now, please? Before something DID happen.
She took a deep breath and tried to compose herself. "You mean Chorophobia," she corrected, with a slight giggle to her tone. "And I suppose I have a fear of it because...I haven't had a proper dance before..." And some more awkward silence. Wait, had he been asking something different. Perhaps he had been asking about what she had asked him? "Oh, you meant something else..." she said as a deeper blush appeared on her cheeks. "I, um, well....you are sitting on the ground..." she continued looking down at him. "I don't think...I'm the only one with Chorophobia." She giggled a bit this time.
"I'm...Kurumi...by the way," she said with a slight bow.
Her eyes then glanced back towards the dance floor. Well, she had already stepped on this boy's foot...so she had already jumped that hurtle, right?
"No. You have this quality." He started, squinting his eyes as he tried to come up with the right word for that particular 'dancey' attribute he saw in her. Maybe it was her dainty stature. And then, it came to him. "Ever heard of Ballet?" He asked with a smile, still feeling sick to his stomach at the memory of him being dressed as a ballerina on his 2nd birthday, twirling around the guests in tutus. Why!? Why would someone do that to their only son? "You look like a ballerina and that's NOT a compliment." He immediately glanced down, fighting the urge to chuckle but he didn't want to let her off so easily. She squashed his foot, remember?
Aw. She needed a partner. Oh wait - Shocker. "Welcome to the club! You just earned a free membership for life." He joked, totally failing to decipher her attempt at luring him to be her partner. It was okay though. He'd probably pick up on this later tonight in the boys dorm when he'd be reviewing his day with his pet sparrow.
His question offended her....like a lot because she was in a tizzy now which he found cute. "Now THAT was more of a praise. I meant your hair looked great." He clarified, chuckling a little because only a crazysauce like him would ever give such an ambiguous compliment. "I brush my hair too.." He pointed at his stupid spiked hairdo, touching the top of his head. "They never grow this long. Do you brush yours one hundred times in the morning and again before bed or what?" He laughed, dismissing the idea with a wave of his hand. It was a myth. At least in his head.
"Oh great...NOT! They even named this as well. Can't they not name fears for once so that an actual victim might get the chance to do so?" It really bummed him out because by now, he had mentally planned a dance-o-phobia name-a-thon in his head. He even chose the cupcake flavor! Not fair. "I don't like it." He said with a grimace, "And I'm now pretending that the word doesn't exit." Ahhh. The best solution for even problem - pretending that it does not exit.
And just because he was sitting in a dance class without a partner doesn't make him Chorophobic. Or does it? But then, it occurred to him. Both of them couldn't dance, right? Wouldn't it be fun to do some bad dancing intentionally? Though before her could speak, the girl introduced herself, "Kurumi?" He questioned as he stood up, "That's an unusual name. I'm Ezra." He said, ignoring the irony of the situation. If Kurumi sounded unusual, then what did it make Ezra?

Elsie felt a bit bad breaking up Harvey and Minerva from dancing, but they didn't seem to mind too much. Before she knew it she was dancing with Harvey, who was surprisingly good. Luckily Elsie was able to hold her own as is verily coordinated herself. "Nice to meet you Harvey! Yeah I'm great. Can't belive that I'm actually at a dance class in Hogwarts! But its fun! What about you?"

She had a quality about her? Kurumi innocently cocked her head to the side like a baby owl wondering just what it was that the boy in front of her was talking about. Then he was asking her if she knew what ballet was. Well, of course she did. She often went to see the Christmas ballet at the small theater in her hometown. She often wished that she was as graceful as them, but growing up with three older brothers had all but removed any ounce of grace she may have had with dancing. “What is that supposed to mean?” she asked, folding her arms across her chest. She looked like a ballerina, but she wasn’t supposed to take that as a compliment?
“There is a club?” She supposed it was nice to know that she belonged to a club instead of not belonging to anything. Either way, it seemed that her and him were both without partners, so that was something at least. “So..you don’t have a dancing partner either?” Now she was fidgeting even more awkwardly with the hem of her skirt now and swayed a bit back and forth.
“Actually…that is exactly what I do,” she replied with an airy giggle. “Mother insists on it. She wishes I was a bit more lady-like, which is why I suppose I am here right now. To try and learn some of the grace and poise that my mother already has.” She shrugged a bit and looked down at her shoes, and then to the ones that she had stepped on earlier. “You hair looks nice too,” she smiled. Could she touch it too? The spikes were really interesting looking.
“We can call it dance-phobia if you want,” she winked. It had a better ring to it than the real medical term anyway. “I suppose it is. My name means Walnut in Japanese.” Just to add more flame to fire of unusualness of the situation at hand. “Ezra is rather unique sounding as well.”

"Well, this shall be fun." She said smiling. Then she looked at Chad-dude. "Mr. Chad-dude, will we be able to do other dances?" She asked, liking this dance class. Maybe it was because she met someone from where she came from. Now she knew two people who lived in Cali with her, then moved here.
