Default Professor MacFusty's Hut

When not looking after the baby Abraxans, checking the Nursery, or tending to the puffapods outside the stable, Lachlan can be found in his hut, napping, lounging by the fireplace, grading papers, or loudly arguing with his old jarvey, Stanley.

Though crowded, the hut appears to be quite cozy, with its perpetual smell of peppermint, cinnamon and grass. Shelves laden with books are lined up against one of the walls, and a hammock seemingly suspended by nothing, neatly hovers in front of a love-seat, the love-seat's matching single couch and the coffee table. Pictures are located above the fireplace and on the wall behind it, along with miniature dragons and an old radio attached to the wall, playing whatever happened to be on WWN.

Lachlan enjoys reading several books at once, and he has the rotten habit of leaving them hanging around instead of putting back on their respective shelf. So please excuse the potential disarray, and make yourself at home. Except not really, because otherwise you may want to stay and not only would that be inappropriate, but also highly unhealthy, too; after all, Professor MacFusty likes to believe he needs at least couple of hours by himself, away from hormonal teenagers who may or may not threaten his mental health.

OOC: Once you've posted your character knocking the door over here and Lachlan has invited you in, you may post in this thread. Otherwise, please refrain from doing so unless there's some kind of emergency. Thank you!

He never got the chance to answer to Michael's question about the House Cup, but he'll do so, some other time, maybe, because now he had something of EXTREME importance with this new Professor.

Sigh.

He missed Maya. Too much. She shouldn't have left.

Anyway, his eyes widened slightly when he noticed the Jarvey, hehe, this Professor must be a hilarious one if he had a Jarvey. But this was not the purpose of his visit. So, Treyen straightened himself and smiled, "Morning, Professor," he started to say, "I'm Treyen Lockhart, Hufflepuff Prefect," yeah, he had the badge to prove it, "And...I sort of wanted to discuss something with you." Something that was already approved by Maya, but still needed to be sort of approved by this one, no?

This one. What was his name again?

MacFusty left the door opened for Tiberius to walk in and close it after him. The jarvey clinging to his arm, seemingly tired of this new position, climbed down from its owner and proceeded to sniff the shoes of the Hufflepuff Prefect.

Lachlan frowned down at the creature. At least, Stan hadn't said anything inappropriate just yet--though knowing the jarvey as he did, it was just a matter of time. "That's great, Mister Lockhart, but I think we should discuss first how my jarvey is about to claim your shoes as its new toy and what exactly you are planning to do about it."

Treyen Lockhart. He could remember that. Maybe.

Maybe not.

Suddenly a big owl was inside his hut, and Lachlan was quick to cast an impervious charm on the floor of his small place. He didn't mind owls, and he had one himself, but the are of Magical Creatures Professor didn't want to see his carpet quickly filled with owl droppings.

Lachlan listened to the story with a small grin on his mouth, and reached to stroke the owl's head. It was big and pretty... and holding something on its beak for him? MacFusty gave Bobba one last slight pat and took the gloves from the owl. "Norweigan Ridgeback, you say?" He examined them carefully. "These are quite valuable, Mister White. Are you sure you want me to have them?" It seemed almost too much, not to mention that Lachlan had a couple of pairs, though his were made of Chinese Fireball scales.

Recalling that the boys were still standing there, and so was he, Lachlan gestured them towards the couches. "Sit, you two. Is there anything you'd like? Butterbeer? Pumpkin juice? Tea?" Water? Because those were the only things he had.

He frowned down at it. "You are pest," MacFusty said, not without affection, as he opened the door.

And then proceed to blink.

"Tiberius Pryce?"

Did he get kick out? Unlikely. Had Beaxbatons burned down after he left? Lachlan had always known that Winter festival they had was dangerous. Stepping aside, he smiled. "Come in, mister Pryce."
His breath caught in his throat as the door opened and a smile broke out across his face. "It was you!"

It just sort of slipped out and Tiberius immediately winced at his outburst and blinked. "Sorry. Good morning, Professor MacFusty!"

Following through the door, he spied Treyen and another Hufflepuff already inside. That was fast! Standing, he slipped his arms into his robe, allowing them to find his trouser pockets.

"I thought I'd seen you at the feast but it wasn't until the end, so I wanted to see if it was really you," he offered by way of explanation. And now, well, he was inside. Did he actually have anything to talk about?

Better let the others go first.

Treyen Lockhart. He could remember that. Maybe.

Tiberiuuuuuus! Wait. Tiberius knew the man? Where they...related?

That wasn't the important part, though, the main thing had been that Tiberius mentioned the man's name, and now Treyen could call him something other than 'Professor', or 'Sir', or...actually, that wasn't completely bad, calling him by either one of those options. But still, that was not the point.

MacFusty?

Why did it ring a bell?

"MacFusty? As in...the Scotland's MacFustys?" Treyen knew a thing or two about dragons, since his sister had been rather interested in them, and kind of still was. Weird girl.

The obliviousness was such, that the boy didn't even notice the Jarvey at his feet. It wasn't until MacFuzzy mentioned the creature, and then Treyen shrugged. "I...don't know? I carry no Gnomes...," which was something Jarveys loved to hunt, no? "...but...does he like Peppermint?" it had been widely known that this boy had a thing for Peppermint. Leaves, grains, mints, gum, you name it, he's got it. So, the smell of it would be obvious to creatures, like Walnut, Kurumi's cat.

Frown. "I'm not planning on giving him my shoes, just so you know," he wouldn't walk barefoot to the Castle, mind you, and if this got him in trouble with MacFuzzy, well, he could still sneak Aslan out of Hogwarts. He already HAD permission to do so, never mind what this Professor said.

Tiberius enthusiasm was contagious enough to make Lachlan smile enough for one of his dimples to show. It was also flattering because it meant the boy had enjoyed his classes back in Beauxbatons; it was an indication, really, that he hadn't been too terrible.

Or if he had, perhaps it'd been the fun sort of terrible? Was there even such a thing? "Why don't you take a seat, Mister Pryce?" And why were the other two still standing up? Lachlan shot the hammock that hovered near the middle of the hut a quick look, and vanished it with a flick of his wand. "Would you like anything to drink? Butterbeer? Pumpkin juice?" Had he had breakfast already?

Had any of the kids? Lachlan shot them all curious glances, and used his wand to summon a bottle of butterbeer and a glass for Michael. "Well, as long as you're sure, Mister White." Sometimes he wondered if affluent kids had any sense of value when it to gold. "It was very thoughtful. Thank you." There was absolutely no need for the gloves to be left hanging around so Lachlan vanished those, too, sending them to his room.

Michael White seemed to have no mouth filter, and Lachlan gladly let the boy rant to his heart's (or mouth's?) desire while he took care of picking up the magazines strewn on the carpet. "I'm glad you feel so strongly about your owl, Michael. Most people don't." A lot of people didn't think of owls, actually, as something other than a means of communication. Lachlan snapped his fingers at Stanley, and the Jarvey grumbled something that would have made MacFusty's mother blush.

Lovely. While Stanley scurried out of the hut by sliding out through the slightly opened window, Lachlan busied himself with placing the magazines on the coffee table. "The very same, Treyen. You're interested in dragons, I take?" He had a deathwish, then? Hufflepuff Misfit. "Please forgive Stanley's rudeness. He doesn't really like visitors. Or anyone, really.

...Were they still standing up? "Sit down, all of you, or this will get awkward, and awkward is bad."

Oh, that's right! He'd forgotten to reply when MacFuzzy asked them if they wanted beverages or something. Well, Treyen was good, so, none for him. "No, thanks Professor," he nodded, his breakfast at the Great Hall had been rather satisfying. Much more than dinner.

And why was Michael giving the man gloves? Man, odd Hufflepuff.

But his eyes weren't on Michael, they were on the Jarvey, and his shoes, until he heard a snap and looked up. Not before snorting at the creatures' words. He didn't find the words amusing, but the fact that it could speak was...well, let's say you didn't see that everyday.

Funny, indeed.

Oooooooh, so he came from those MacFustys. How interesting. He smiled when the man answered, and then smirked at the mention of dragons, "Nah, my sister does, though, she's worked with little Opaleyes before," like, before following her Quidditch career, that is, "And my uncle works in Romania...," he couldn't help but make a face, he didn't like the country as much, "...I only think they're cool creatures." Interesting choice of words. Cool.

In all fairness, Treyen has already been bitten many times by his sister's owl, so, the Jarvey's behavior was nothing compared to that, and...it was common behavior for Jarvey, anyway. "It's okay, I don't mind," as long as he gets to keeps his shoes. But, it appeared it was going to be that way, because the Jarvey flew out the window. Not literally.

Oh, of course. The sitting down part, he forgot. Next to Tiberius seemed like a good spot, no? Yeah, totally.

Taking the butter beer and glass "TA" Mikey slides down the couch to make room "Well Bubba's mom Bertha was my moms owl.She never got to tell me what magical folk used owls for.i just thought it was neat that she would bring the mail in from the mail box. Then she got hurt right after Bubba hatched so I sort of had to teach him stuff.I think that is why he dont get on too good with outher owls.Wich is why I was kind of hopeing you wouldnt mind if he set himself up around here " pointing outside to one of the big trees " As long as he goes by your rules "

If the boys didn't incline to sit down, Lachlan wasn't going to force them. Instead, he busied on sitting down himself across the couch where the boy should sit, and began to arrange the magazines on the coffee table, in alphabetical order. "Antipodean Opaleye? Are your sister and your uncle people I should know, then?" Opaleyes were hardly his area of expertise, of course, but Lachlan prided himself on knowing enough about not only the Hebridean Black but other type of dragons, too.

They were one and the same in the end, really. Kind of like relatives who rarely saw each other and would not really get along.

Sounded a lot like his family.

An unconscious smile tugged at MacFusty's lips when Michael went on to explain the origins of his owl, Bubba. "I didn't really like owls when I was young, myself." Wait. That'd sounded like he was ancient. "Younger, I should say."

He wasn't old. Almost Thirty-two was perfectly young. "But that may have stemmed from the fact that my own owl was a brat." Ruefully, he smiled. "You can say she worked by her own schedule and disregarded any orders I gave her." MacFusty scratched his cheek, while he's other hand momentarily discarded an old issue of The Snitch to the left side of the table. "Well, there's the School Owlery," That he'd never approved of--there were owl droppings everywhere. "But if you'd like, she can stay in the Nursery. She'll be surrounded by other creatures, but unless I'm mistaken--" And Lachlan knew he wasn't, [b]"--there aren't really any other owls there."

Looking up from July's issue of Wizard's Health, Lachlan's head tilted to one side. "Was that the sound of a kneazle out there?" And the sound of someone's steps?

Huh.

Tiberius smiled and took a seat, sliding over to make room for Treyen. "Pumpkin juice, please," he said, softly. Butterbeer was still, well. He had to work up to it. "Thank you."

He listened casually to the others chatted with MacFusty, eying the gifted gloves a tad enviously.

His eyes bugged, slightly, when the jarvey went a bit foul and scurried out the window. He'd forgotten how rude they could be, exiled to Muggle Londo as he was during the summers.

"Everyone really missed you when you left," Tiberius said simply, hands in his lap. Sure, he hadn't taken a survey, but he had missed the man, so that was enough. "It's good to have a familiar professor, here."

Sitting back and getting a little more comfortable, he eyed the Hufflepuffs, wary of making a request with an audience.

"The current Magizoology professor at Beauxbatons and I were speaking last year about some plans for my studies this year, and I was wondering if I might speak with you about it?" Was that vague enough?

Lachlan dispatched the bottle of butterbeer and glass Michael had used, and summoned a clean one and a bottle of pumpkin juice for Tiberius. "I was missed? Compliments will get you far, Mister Pryce. But thank you." It wasn't entirely hard to believe, but there was a slight hint of disbelief on his tone that was covered by a small smile. "Tell me something, though, how is the new professor treating my Abraxans?" MacFusty did not attempt to correct his own statement to say the Winged Horses belonged to the school; as far as the professor was concerned, they were still his.

Tiberius' somewhat business-like stance--as well as Treyen's--had not been missed by Lachlan and he had the half-mind to tell them to leave and come later; that way they would be able to freely talk with him about whatever it was they needed help it or just simply wished to discuss. He did not, however, and after one curious look for the boy, he said, "Absolutely. I'm imagining those studies will be outside your regular Care of Magical Creatures classes?"

And he was a sixth year, was he not?

Well. Maybe it was time for Tiberius to say goodbye to his social life. Poor child.

"Lex Lockart, you say?" That sounded familiar, did it not? MacFusty's head tilted to one side. It was familiar, yes, but not enough to put a face or a proper reaction to it. "I've visited the Romanian Reservation a few times," Five of them to be more precise, "Perhaps I know him." He made no comment regarding the dragons, and instead leaned back on his chair and summoned a cup of tea for himself.

The Hungarian Horntails, for some reason, tended to dislike him. But Lachlan MacFusty was not admitting that, ever. It was, in a way, a low blow to his ego. He took a small sip of his tea. "Your sister is on the Quidditch business now?" Well, no wonder his last name sounded familiar. "Kaika Lockhart, right?"

Not that Lachlan remembered for what team the girl played for. He was only truly aware of the Holyhead Harpies.

Lachlan set his cup of tea on the table, and laughed heartily at Miachael's serious tone. He stood up and accompanied him to the door. When he opened it for the boy, MacFusty poked his head out and gave the people waiting outside a nod--and picked up the kitten meowing outside.

"Mister Chosen. Miss..." I don't know your name? "I'm afraid you'll have to wait a little bit longer." Or they could leave and come back later. That was always an option. Nodding respectfully at them, the Care of Magical Creatures professor stepped back inside his hut and returned to the couch he'd previously been sitting on.

For some reason, the kitten did not appear to be fond of him, and after raising his eyebrows, he placed the animal on the floor. "Is he yours?" The kitten, of course. "It was meow-ing outside, as if looking for someone." Carelessly, he shrugged and then stared at the two remaining students. Apologetically, he smiled. "Please tell me you know each other. Otherwise, forgive my supreme lack of manners for not introducing you with each other before."

Walnut had been pawing at the door when it had opened and his fur had stood on end when a MAN had appeared.

WHAT HAD HE DONE TO THE BEAUTIFUL MANGO LADY?!

Next thing the feline knew, his stubby legs were dangling in the air as he was brought inside of the strange little house. Nope, there was nothing here that smelled like mangos. In fact, this man was giving off the rather unusual smell of musky lavender, which Walnut wasn't sure what to make of it.

The cat then heard the man speak. WOAH!? Did he just call him a kitten?! While he was flattered that the man thought him young, he just knew that it was an indirect attack on his legs. HOW RUDE!

If this man ever decided to put him down, Walnut would be setting direct course for his shoes and pee on them. Yep.

Feet still dangling in the air like a rag doll, the cat began swishing his tail back and forth and a rather pathetic sounding meow escaped his clenched kitty mouth.

Then, he saw Peppermint Boy and his ears perked up.

Ah, at last! An inferior being that knows how to worship me properly.

Er, MacFuzzy was eying both him and Tiberius rather funny, as if he was annoyed they were trying to discuss something with the man other than just visiting him.

Seriously, he HAD something to discuss, and the letter that was NOW in his hand begged for someone to read it.

But he seemed more relaxed the next time he looked at MacFuzzy, "Yes, Lex Lockhart, my uncle's been there ever since he left Durmstrang," the boy nodded before replying again, "It's quite likely." And then the dragons topic was dropped, no? He should've never brought it up, because he was wasting super important time of discussing Aslan's future. Unless MacFuzzy was already aware about Treyen's visitation purposes and he wanted to delay some awful negative answer.

His eyes widened at the thought, and remained that way for a couple of seconds. He wanted Maya back.

The man changed topics, and Treyen instantly smiled, "She is, my father also is," and he mentally kicked himself for saying that, the little time he's been knowing MacFuzzy and he knew that the man asked oh-so-many questions about new given information, "The one and only," he nodded once. And he knew there was only one Kaika Lockhart in the Quidditch world, because, well, there hadn't been too many Lockharts to begin with.

"Do you like Quidditch, Professor?" and he kicked himself AGAIN. Sigh.

But....LOOKIT!

WALNUT!

"Oh, I know him, he's Walnut, King of Gryffindors," he said, with a small smirk on his face. Right. King of Gryffindors. Hehe. That was amusing. "He belongs to Kurumi," which he kind of suspected was standing outside, yes?

The kitten looked mildly put off by Lachlan's grip--though really, it was more like he was currently put off by everything. Lachlan leaned in until he was nearly touching the kitten's nose with his own; but when one of the kitten's paws took a swing at him for his insolence, he was forced to lean right back.

Laughing seemed like an option, but MacFusty instead opted to keep his distance from the small feline. "I love Quidditch," Lachlan said in a matter-of-factly tone of voice as a respnse to Treyen. What was there not to love about it? "Do you play Quidditch, then, Mister Lockhart? Thinking about following the family's footsteps?"

Walnut? That was the kitten's name? "King of Gryffindors, you say?" Lachlan grinned at Walnut the Great, "My apologies, your highness," Finished the man formally, before placing the distinguished animal on the floor.

He loved Quidditch? Well, MacFuzzy was alright. If he liked Quidditch, then it was all perfect, no? Yeah, we'll see.

"Do you have a favorite team?" NOW, that was important, it spoke a lot of the person, which team they favored against another. The boy still didn't know how exactly, it was more connected to the way they played Quidditch than anything else, because his sister was only fierce on the Pitch, while she appeared to be nice outside it. Appeared, don't be fooled. "Mine is the Arrows," Appleby Arrows, yes.

And...eh, what? "Oh, yes, I do, or well, did, last term, tryouts will tell if I still get to play it this time around," details much? "But I don't plan on doing so professionally," and why was all this important now?

Treyen nodded, he approved of the way MacFuzzy was treating Walnut, and probably the creature will approve of it as well. Yes?

"Professor, I kind of wanted to inform you of something that our former Care of Magical Creatures Professor decided last year," yes, that was the best possible opening line ever.

Default <3 It's okay. I've been busy.
Wowza!

Now, that was a silly question Treyen was asking. Was it not impossible to be a fan of Quidditch and yet not have a favourite thing? In MacFusty's mind, it was. "The Arrows are good," He allowed, because it was true. "But I'm more of a Pride or Portree, Holyhead Harpies and Kenmare Kestrel fan myself." Pride of Portree above all, though. Of course.

When the Hufflepuff prefect mentioned not following the family steps, Lachlan nodded. He was aware that most people had a choice when it came to choosing what they wanted to do with their lives, but he hadn't had much of one; well, he supposed he had, but it wasn't exactly common for a MacFusty to simply opt for a career that didn't benefit the family business--though most would call it tradition--in one way or another. "What position did you play?" He was quite short, so perhaps seeker? Either way, definitely not a beater. "I wasn't much of a flyer myself, back then." Still wasn't. But there was no need to add that.

There was another knock on the door and Lachlan wondered, really, what was it with students visiting professors. When he'd been a student himself, the only places he interacted with his own teachers was in class. His friends had been the same, too. "Oh," Something the other professor had done? "What did professor Saylen decide last year, Mister Lockhart?"

...And he should go and check who was waiting outside. Giving Treyen a small smile, Lachlan moved swiftly towards the window and peeked in. Oh. Just another Hufflepuff. They were awfully friendly, apparently.

WHAT was this man doing sticking his nose right where it didn't belong. At least it let him know what scent this man had and it was NOTHING like mangos.

Now, where had HE put the lovely Mango Lady...

Before he could investigate further, he was back on the floor with his stubby legs holding him up. Well, at least he wasn't dangling anymore. THAT was a bonus. That, and the mad had addressed him properly.

Yes, YOU, Mr. non-Mango Man could sleep well knowing that this cat would not be peeing in your shoes anytime soon.

Kurumi sprinted down from the castle knowing that this was the only place she hadn't checked yet. Why was it that the thing you are looking for was always in the last place you looked? Oh, that's right...BECAUSE YOU STOPPED LOOKING AFTER YOU FOUND IT! So of course it would be in the last place you looked because you didn't need to look anymore.

She was going to strangle the cat for making her over think such such an innocent saying. No fish cookies for him for at least a week the rest of the day.

Marching right up to the hut, Kurumi heard Treyen's voice inside and leaned her ear against the door just in time to hear Professor MacFusty say something about King of the Gryffindors.

Not waiting a moment longer, Kurumi threw open the door and was just in time to see Walnut about to jump onto Treyen's lap.

"WALNUT!" she scolded marching up to the cat, promptly picking him up, and cradling him in her arms. "I'm so s-s-sorry!" she stammered bowing to the professor. "I-I hope he didn't cause any trouble. H-He has been running off a lot recently." And peeing in people's shoes...but she didn't really want to get into that.

Mmmhmm. Nod. The Arrows are good. He was earning a spot on the list of cool people of Hogwarts...and then mentioned THREE teams and never made the list.

MacFuzzy was like Ellie, they'd so get along. Even more since they had two teams in common, no? But instead of arguing with the man, no, no, scratch that, he was still arguing a little, never mind that he was a Professor and all, "How come is not ONE team?" he said, eying the man.

Quidditch was a fair topic to discuss with this one, it would've been a GOOD one if he'd only mentioned ONE team, but whatever. "Keeper," he said, with one nod, "And I subbed for the Seeker once, but mostly Keeper," his sister was the Beater, and his dad always welcomed the Chaser position, all they needed is a Seeker...but wasn't Gilderoy one during his time at Hogwarts, eh?

Okay. He got a little nervous after the man asked about Saylen, but managed a smile after Treyen extended his hand to him, "It's some sort of a permission note," not to wander around the Restricted Section at the Library, of course, a different kind of permission, or rather...qualification.

Text Cut: THE LETTER!
To whomever it may concern,

Mister Treyen Lockhart, of Hufflepuff House, came to me in regards of the possibility of keeping the creature, a Niffler, he had been taking care of during the school term of '74.

During the school year, Mister Lockhart has been proving that caring for the Niffler has been a manageable task, and it is clear he has a passion for creatures and their well being. Mister Lockhart has not been afraid to ask for more information about the creature, or guidelines about them, and that is one of his more stronger suits.

It is therefore that I, Maya Saylen, previous Care of Magical Creatures Professor, hereby assert that Mister Lockhart is a suitable and responsible caretaker of his pet Niffler. I am sure that by the time he graduates, he will have learnt further knowledge of Nifflers and how to make sure they are properly taken care of in his own home - specially how to keep them away from the eyes of Muggles and other possible malignant forces.

Hope you take this into consideration, and Mister Lockharts willingness to be a magnificent caregiver.

Sincerely,
Maya Saylen - 2072-2074 Care of Magical Creatures Professor

OOC: the post.

So, yeah, Aslan was his. And if Aslan was gone, then he still had the permission for any Niffler on the grounds, yes? He just...wanted Aslan, it reminded him so much of Saylen.

Truth be told, Treyen was completely ready to take hold of Walnut. It's not like he minded him at all. But then Kurumi begged to differ.

He smiled at her and simply said, "Not at all, he was being a good guy," seriously, if he'd somewhat attacked MacFuzzy, it was all MacFuzzy's fault for treating Walnut like any other cat, when in fact, he wasn't like any other cat, he was Kurumi's cat. BIG difference.

Wowza!

Lachlan was still peering out the window when he saw a small figure seemingly running toward his hut. "Well, it is one if you think about it, Treyen. One for each country. Kenmare Kestrels for Ireland," And the student was fast approaching. Was the castle on fire...? "Pride of Portree for Scotland," He watched the girl ignore the people already waiting outside and instead just--barged in as if she owned the place. "And then the Harpies for Wales, which in my mind just represents England altogether."

And so the girl was inside his office now. She'd disregarded the rules. Lachlan supposed this meant she'd get some minor scolding--but, oh. Kurumi Hollingberry, the owner of the Noble Cat. Lachlan massaged the back of his neck, and watched the girl do some bowing and apologizing. He waved his hand around, making sure she knew it wasn't a big deal. Well, it was because he didn't very well wanted kids to just enter his place as if they own it, but he supposed he could overlook Kurumi's behaviour this one time. "It's fine," he told the girl, "He's been well-behaved so far, but I don't think he likes me much." Lachlan shot the prissy cat a slight grin. "Why don't you take a seat, Miss Hollingberry? Would you like anything to drink?"

Oh, right. The letter. MacFusty approached the boy, and took the letter from his hand. Professor Saylen, Niffler, permission, good with creatures. Hmmm. "And I take this means you were allowed to take the niffler outside the Nurery?"

Hmm.

Hmm.
Wait. Wait. Waaaait.

That was the greatest explanation ever. The man was simply brilliant. Treyen had never considered such reasoning. It was mind-blowing. Honestly. And that placed MacFuzzy as close as possible to Mr. Stryker on his list.

"Wow." Yes, mind-blown. The Hufflepuff couldn't even say anything else. Now, if Ellie had said something like that from the start, he would've left the topic go a long time ago. But she didn't, though, it was highly possible that Treyen forgot to ask why.

Haha. No, MacFuzzy, it seemed Walnut didn't like you so much. That was obvious.

Oh, my Gilderoy! The CoMC dude was reading the letter, and he had such an unreadable expression that he failed to understand if his words were leading towards any remark on the man's behalf. Like Saylen, she always asked tricky questions. "I suppose I can do so now, but she was too little when I started to take care of her, and she still needed to learn her ways around," but now that Aslan was over one year old, well, he could take her a couple feet away from the Nursery, no? And, er, MacFuzzy should, like, make a different hut or place for Aslan to stay if the man stayed long enough, but she'll be happy to stay in the Nursery. Yup.

Kurumi raised an eyebrow slightly at Treyen when he said that Walnut had been behaving himself. At this point in time, that simply meant that he wasn't peeing in anyone's shoes, which Kurumi took to be a very good thing.

Looking down at the cat who was softly purring in her arms, Kurumi sighed and scratched him behind the ears. "As long as he didn't have a repeat of his...um...leakage in the common room," she said looking at Treyen shyly.

"I'm afraid he doesn't like many people these days, Professor," she giggled softly. Yep, a real king in his on rite at the moment and anyone who so much as looked at him strangely woke up with a few surprises in their shoes. Bowing once more before taking a seat, Kurumi rested Walnut on her lap. The cat stood up for a moment, twirled around, and curled back up into a ball again. "He had a sort of kitty crush on the former Care of Magical Creatures professor," she said covering his ears for a moment. She knew it was a sensitive subject for the feline seeing as he had run all the way down here. She smiled nervously at the man. "I'd love a pumpkin juice...i-i-if you have it."

Kurumi then listened as Treyen and Professor MacFusty discussed The Hufflepuff's niffler. Kurumi and Treyen had discussed he niffler in question a bit last term, but Kurumi hadn't been able to meet him yet, but would very much like to do so.

She was suddenly struck with a thought as the professor asked about Treyen taking Aslan away from the nursery. She didn't suppose he would be allowed to take it to the old ship and see if there was any pirate's gold on there? She was sure that there was some sort of hidden secret there just waiting to be discovered.
