Potions for Muggles Club Hecate was sitting in a seat at a round table. The following was written on the blackboard: Quote:

Selina hesitantly walked into the club. She seemed to be the only one in the classroom besides Lafay. It was awkward to say the least. So trying to diffuse some tension Selina walked up to the Professor and greeted her warmly, "Hello, Ma'am. How are you?" She could feel her hands playing with the ends of her uniform. It was a habit she had picked up for when she was nervous. Lafay was her hardest teacher and also the toughest. She was hoping that this club would not only help her fight for a worthy cause she believed in, but also fight her fear of the Professor. |
Helena walked slowly to the Potions club, where professor Lafay was sitting at a round table. Were they all going to share that table? Just to be sure, Helena didn't sit down yet. Instead, she looked up and tried to smile. "Hello, professor." Okay, so they were going to discuss about muggles, again and again. But she'll learn something useful, maybe? |
Carter entered the potions classroom. With his parents both being doctors he figured that this would be a good opportunity to discuss something that he felt should have happened a long time ago - muggles having magic potions. It sure would have made things easier on his parents, especially when they did humanitarian work. "Hello Professor." he said as he took a seat at the table. He nodded a greeting at the two girls already there. |
It wasn't that Kurumi wanted to torture herself more in the seemingly never ending discussion of non-magical people and their relationship to the magical world...it was more of her unyielding curiosity that wouldn't let her ignore the possibility to expand her education and view. Setting her book bag down on the floor, Kurumi addressed the Potions Mistress before sitting down. "Good day, Professor Lafay." She then took a seat next to Selina. |
K-Lee after Potions had decided to go to the Potions for Muggles club, mostly out of curiousity. Walking into the room, she gave a small smile to the teacher. "Hello Professor Lafay!" Seating herself down on a seat away from the others, K-Lee looked around to see the other students that had arrived. |
Sierra hesitated just outside the door. She was trying to convince herself that she didn't belong at this club meeting, but she'd promised her father that she'd give this whole idea behind helping muggles a second chance. He'd visited the school on the day of her first Quidditch match, and she'd briefly talked with him about the many class discussions and lessons that had recently revolved around muggles and how the wizarding world could make their lives better. She'd expected him to side with her--to agree that the entire concept was nonsense and should be ignored. He'd surprised her by doing the exact opposite, though. Apparently, her father was a bit more lenient than she'd thought he would be. He'd encouraged her to open up her mind to the idea and try and find the good in it. ...and so she found herself attending some meeting regarding helping muggles via potions. With a soft sigh, she opened the door and went into the room. "Hello, Professor Lafay," she greeted, remembering exactly what her Head of House had taught her about being nice and respectful to others. She took a seat at the able--away from Hollingberry, of course. |
Emily entered the... Potions for Muggles Club... room... if thats what it was called. "Hello Professor Lafay", said Emily as she ventured forth and took a seat at the table. She wasn't entirely sure what to expect from this club... so she took out some parchment and her quill ready to take some notes... because she always took notes... its what she did. Patiently she waited as other students arrived. |
Emily opened the door and entered the room. She was... sceptical about this whole thing, but after talking to her sister she had decided to give the whole 'muggle' concept another chance. To at least hear it out. "Hello Professor" she said as she passed the teacher and took a seat near the other Gryffindors. She wished Nika was here... |

"Hey, Kurumi." Low under her breath she asked, "Are we allowed to talk?" |
Sakura walked into the classroom, looking as confident as one could. She was also observing the others who were in the classroom and the groups they were sitting in. It was a force of habit of hers to examine the dynamics of the room when she was in a surrounding she wasn't used too. Still as she passed Lafay she made sure to smile and say, "Hello Professor," as she remembered what the woman had been saying about manners. Which was why she also smiled at the others in the room before taking a seat. Hopefully this club would be interesting. |
For Emily. (Sorry, forgot to quote) Rowan entered the room and glanced around. "Good day, Professor," she said as she passed by Lafay's desk. Seeing her Potions partner from earlier, she walked over and said hello. "Hi Emily. May I sit here?" she asked, indicating the seat next to the Gryffindor. She looked around again and discovered that she was the only Ravenclaw here. Figures, she thought to herself. |
Potions for Muggles. Iris didn't like Potions; it was an insanely hard class. She just did not understand it. The prefect had no desire to be involved in the making of potions. However, helping put forward an argument to get the potions out into the Muggle world, to help them? Yeah. Iris would totally be there to help out with that. She didn't feel guilty about not being good at Potions; there were thousands of Wizards out there who were phenomenal at potion-making. Iris was just going to stick to her transfiguration, because that's what she does. Walking into the room, Iris nodded politely at the professor. "Hullo, Professor Lafay." She smiled a little at the table. It was big, and round and cool. The prefect found an empty seat and sat in it, then sat there quietly. |
"Hello everyone, and yes you are allowed to talk. Just don't be too distracting." She said waving the kid off, as it didn't matter. "In front of you, on the table is a cup, just raise your wand and the teapot will come and pour some tea in it. Sugar, lemon, honey and Milk are on the table, should you need them. Also if you wish to eat something, just say the words 'High Tea Please'..." A three teared plate appeared in front of Hecate with scones, sweetbreads and sandwiches, "and the house elves will send this up for you. If you with for it to disappear..." she said and took a cucumber sandwich, "just say 'thank you'..." the plates vanished. "and it will be returned to the kitchen, where you can call it again." She raised her wand and the teapot poured her a cup. "Now. You already know about the Vaxifloo potion... Think about muggle ailments... and we'll see if we can get a cure for it. Anyone?" She asked. |

Emily raised her wand and the teapot came around and poured steaming tea into her cup. Once it had finished pouring Emily added two teaspoons of sugar and a dash of milk.... Mmmm yummy. Emily turned back to Professor Lafay. She cleared her throat lightly and offered a muggle ailment to the conversation. "What about diabetes Professor?" Emily suddenly thought about the two spoons of sugar that went into her tea.... |

Okay, now focus on the ailments. "Cancer?" She suggested, not sure if it was a suitable answer. "Can't we do something about that?" |

"High Tea Please" she said and the three teared plate appeared in front of her. She took a scone off it. "Thank you" and the plate disapeared. So cool! Now, a muggle ailment? She took a bite of the scone and thought. She subconsciously started to scratch her arm. Hmm... "Eczma?" she said hoping people knew what that was. It ran on the muggle side of her family and her and her sister both had it. If there was a cure in the wizarding world... that would be the best thing that had ever happened to her... |
His reasoning for coming down here was certainly a very good one. Professor Lafay had said to come, and so he did. Of course, the fact that he liked Potions played a very important part, but really, who could say 'No' to Lafay? Yes, exactly. "Hello Professor," he said, with a nod, as he took a seat in the round table. Haha. Round. Like a 'Knight'. Quote:

He was running late, something with being caught up in a moral debate with himself just outside the classroom. It had taken a good deal of pacing and scrubbing of the back of his neck before he had forced the decision out of his mind and simply acted. Only problem with coming in late was that you stepped into a discussion that was either in progress or just beginning. This one thankfully, was just beginning. "Strokes." The word left him before he had time to think about it or reign it in, and there was a great deal of solemnity to his tone. Was he here to learn about new potions and cures or try to undo the past? Bitting his bottom lip and shutting the door behind himself he bowed his head in slight apology. "Professor Lafay, sorry I'm late." Ducking his head a little, he slipped into the room and found himself a seat. |
Kurumi raised her wand as received some tea which she added just a little it of milk to before taking a sip. This certainly was a pleasant surprise, Professor Lafay offering them food and drinks. Still, Kurumi couldn't help but get the sinking feeling that there was a chance that the woman had done something to the tea...it tasted lovely though. Hearing Professor Lafay address the room, Kurumi thought for a moment. "Professor, what about HIV and AIDS? Non-magical people find it not only fatal but also incurable. The disease is caused by HIV, and then AIDS attacks and destroys the immune system until there is nothing left." Kurumi thought for a little more and remembered a book she had read over the summer called 1 Litre of Tears. "There is also," she swallowed hard. "Spinocerebellar Degeneration. The disease causes the person to lose control over their body, but because the person can retain all mental ability the disease acts as a prison." |
Isobel watched intently as Professor Lafay called up a delicious looking tray of food. "High Tea Please," she said, and it appeared in front of her. She took one of the things in the middle, she wasn't quite sure what they were, but they looked good. "Thank you," she said before taking a bit. Yummmmmmm, it was good. Isobel had missed the lesson with Vaxifloo, sooooo she felt...left out. But she would get it...later. Hopefully. |
"What about Arthritis?" Sakura asked as she listened to everyone else's answers. "It may seem kind of trivial compared to other ailments but it affects so many people and really does limit what they can do in their lives due to the pain and the fact that they cannot necessarily move the way they once could." There were other things as well..."Or even Macular Degeneration..." Sakura stopped and waited to see what other people would say as well. Sakura raised her wand slightly and was glad to see the teapot coming towards her. She was thirsty and she loved tea. Tea literally got her through the day sometimes, and coffee. Definitely needed coffee. But for now the tea was great. |
Nika raised her wand and took some tea from the plate. "Thank you" she whispered as it disappeared. Nika nodded her head to other's suggestions and then she raised her own hand. Are we supposed to raise our hands!?!?! Because technically this isn't a class.... "Professor, Cancer is a big problem and we, I mean the muggles are yet to find a cure for it. They have procedures to help get rid of some forms of it, but other forms there has been no such luck. Is there a potion that could help with that?" |
