James Wilkes was set up in the Observation Ward after Healer Moretti had patched him up. Blood was not exactly the best thing to see when you woke up from flying into the stands during a Quidditch game, after all.

Unconscious was not fun. Or at least, if Jimmy was consciously aware of not being conscious, he wouldn't find it fun. Or funny. Or anything. On the second day, he started to wake up, feeling much like he was swimming through tar after being hit by a truck. Groggy. Ouchie. 38 hours unconscious will do that to a kid.

Since there was only one Healer, and she needed to be in many places at once, Lilyan had charms set on the devices in the room to alert her should anything change in a patient's condition. So, when the boy started to wake up, she let herself into the Observation Ward, and went to check up on him.

"How are we feeling today?" She asked, opening the curtains at one of the windows before she went to the side of his bed, "Better?"

Okay so Jimmy wasn't sure if he should go for the sympathy vote when the hot nurse came in or... "owww." He groaned and winced away from the light, a legitimate reaction despite his first thoughts.

"Yeah. I'm all better." Liar. He put on a brave face and tried to sit up.

...

Failure.

Lily gave the child a look. This look quite obviously asked if he thought she was born yesterday. "Uh huh." Leaning over, the woman checked on his vitals, and went through the routine she had been doing even when he had still been asleep.

"How does your head feel?" She wasn't about to tell him anything about having visitors until she was sure he was all right to see them.

Grin.

Jimmy endured the routine of checks, a woozy sort of smile in place.

"My head?" He had to think hard about it. "Its... I'm... fuzzy." Not sleepy like he had been, but kind of like his brain was still asleep. Usually when his brain was so very switched off it was because other parts had taken over, instinct usually. Not so this time. This time it felt... wrong.

But better.

He supposed that the fact that he was awake was a good sign of that,right?

Wait.

Was he awake?

He stared at the nurse and blinked a few times.

She wasn't convinced. Not really. "Just fuzzy, a little dizzy maybe? Is there any pain?" He definitely was not ready to leave her care yet, but it was possible he could have one or two monitored visitors.

MAYBE.

"Can you sit up?" She knew he had tried before, "If you feel you can try, go slow."

"A bit dizzy." Jimmy agreed, in mostly cheerful tones. "My head ain't really sore." The rest of him was thought.

He bristled a bit. OF COURSE he could sit up.

He tried again and he took it slow, trying to make it seem like he just WAS and it had nothing to do with the fact that the nurse had said he should take it easy.

Jim managed it, but it wasn't easy since it just seemed to remind his body that it had taken a beating of sorts. Playing nonchalant and swaying a bit, he tried to adjust his pillows so he could lean back against them and still stay sitting up.

It was almost as if she was waiting for him to fall over. She tried not to let it show, but it probably did anyway. She was impressed enough when he seemed to manage it, but she still waited a second or two to make sure he didn't tip over.

She retrieved a pain potion and handed it to him, "Drink this, love."

For a moment, she gave him another considering glance, before she continued on, "You've got quite a rescue team out in the waiting room. They all want to come in and see you."

Jimmy took the potion gladly and gave the nurse a brief,but genuinely thankful smile.

He sipped it tentatively, made a face, then downed the whole thing.

"I do?"

Stare.

... "Like who?"

It didn't occur to him to guess, he just simply wasn't used to counting on anyone to be there for him, even when he needed it.

"Miss Bott was quite distressed when left to come check in on you." Lilyan replied, crossing her arms, "More have come since then. I think you should be okay for a few minutes of visits, if you're feeling up to it."

She was staying put, though.

Jim blinked. "... Bo... Neptune's here?" Really? He swallowed and leaned against the pillows.

Then he gestured with one hand, all regally and whatnot.

"I suppose I can spare a few minutes." His voice sounded heavy, a bit indistinct, but at least the humour was obvious. He was on the mend.

"All right then." Lil nodded as she spoke, passing the boy another glance before she headed for the door, "I'll be right back."

Lilyan returned with Miss Salazar in tow, "Visitor number one." She said to Jimmy as she conjured a chair next to the bed for the girl to sit on. "I won't be leaving, however I will be doing work over there." She pointed towards the other end of the room, "You won't be able to stay long." She added to the girl, before heading off in the direction she had said.

Marie's heart was racing as she followed the healer back to see Jimmy. She knew she wasn't going to get much time to be with him, she was just happy she was getting any time at all. She needed to see for herself that he was going to be alright.

As she walked into the room she felt a wave of relief come over her when she seen that Jimmy was sitting up. He in no way looked his best but she was happy to see him awake and sitting there.

It took all her willpower not to run over and give him a huge hug and kiss. As much as she wanted to she still wasn't sure how badly he was hurt. She didn't want to cause him any more pain than he was most likely already in.

Looking to the healer when she said Marie couldn't stay long she frowned a bit. "Right, short visit." Of course she was gonna stay until she was told to leave. She was in no hurry to let anyone else come back... unless it was Finlay. She knew he was pretty worried about Jimmy too and would probably want to see him... if the healer let him come back.

Forgetting about everyone else for now she turned all her attention back to Jimmy as she sat in the chair next to him. Taking his hand in hers she gently stroked the back of it with her thumb. "I've been so worried about you. You have no idea how happy I am to see you awake." Or how happy she was that she made that Bott Brat leave. "How you feeling?"

That was quick. Jim eyed the conjured chair and then managed a half hearted grin. What, did Healer Moretti think if she weren't there to chaperone he'd get right back into the snogging?

... well, it probably WOULD make him feel better.


"Marie." Jim's voice was tired but glad. "You don't need to worry about me, I'm tough and all that." He gave her hand a squeeze. "Take more than a crash to bring me to my knees."

As for how he felt?

"Better, I guess." Was the healer looking? Jim wondered if he could lean forward enough for sympathy kisses.

"You may be tough but that's not gonna stop me from worrying about you." She knew that even the toughest of wizards could be brought down. Of course she wasn't about to say that out loud.

He was feeling better huh. Well she knew something that might make him feel even better. She looked back to make sure the healer wasn't looking then turned back to Jimmy. Leaning over she kissed him gently on the lips. "A little something to make you feel even better." She whispered in his ear before sitting back up.

Now that she knew he was feeling better maybe she should tell him what she had been trying to tell him for weeks. There was no way he was going to be able to walk away from her now. He would have to listen to what she had to say.

"That does help." Jim grinned at her after she kissed him. Hah. He didn't even need to do anything to get kisses. Yeah he was the man.

Maybe this hospital business wasn't such a drag after all.

"... Did anyone else come to see me?" He tried to ask all nonchalantly. Not that it mattered. Not that he needed anyone. Ever.

Marie smiled at JImmy. "I'm happy to hear that." She knew her kiss would make him feel better. Kisses always helped everything.

Right, she figured he would want to know if anyone else was there to see him. She had a pretty good feeling who he meant too. That Brat that she made leave. "Well... right now Finn and Mia are out there and right before I came back Satine gave a fruit basket to the healer for you, then she left." Yep, that's all that was out there. Of course that wasn't all that had been out there. "Matty was here but he left when he found out I could come back to see you." Not that he knew who Matty was since he really didn't know any of her friends other than Destiny and Evelyn.

She knew she should probably tell him about the others but she would just wait to see if he asked. Knowing that he probably really wanted to know about a certain blonde 'claw she figured he would be asking if anyone else was out there or if they had been there.

"Thats... Finn and Mia, thats epic." He grinned happily. Sure knew who your friends were right? He hadn't expected anyone to take particular notice, it just wasn't something Jim was used to. "And Satine, thats nice of her." He was surprised at that part, but it just showed he'd been right about her. She was good people.

"Matty.... that 'puff kid right? Sniffs around Mia a bit." Yeah he so did.

Anyway. Wow. People. He smiled to himself, kinda marveling over it. "Still, the most important part is that you came. Glad you did, you know. I just didn't expect it." A rare serious moment from James S. Wilkes.

"Yeah, they're out there waiting for me to come out and tell them how you are." Since Healer Moretti said no one else would be allowed to come back now.

"Yeah, that's Matty. He was the only one that was actually here for moral support for me." Seeing as how everyone else was so dang worried about how Neptune was doing... that is until she left. Then Finn talked to her and Matty. And Mia didn't show up until right before the healer let her come back to see Jimmy. "He knew I was worried and just wanted to make sure I was alright. He's a really nice guy."

Did he seriously think she wouldn't be here for him? "You didn't think I'd come to see you? Why would you think that?" Did he think she was that terrible that she wouldn't care how he was doing? If that was the case then he was really going to think she was rotten when she told him who else had been there.

"So um, there were others here to see you too." Like one in particular who had even arrived before Marie did. "Sal and... Lexi were here. Lexi said she would be back later. Not sure about Sal, I think he left with Lexi." She really wasn't keeping track. She had been too busy telling Neptune off at the time to worry about others around her. "Oh and Jake stopped by too. Pretty sure he was just here to check on...Neptune though." Neptune who had pulled her wand out like she was gonna use it on Marie when Marie didn't even have hers out. Pfft, like Marie needed a wand against that brat. Her words were enough to make her leave.

Huh. Well. Fancy that. Jimmy sorta sat back against his cushions and thought about it a bit. "Well you can tell them I'm fine... you know, in a bit." After he got all the attention that he could get and all right? Yep. They could wait.

Moral support for... why would Marie need moral support?

"Nice of him." Jim brushed it off. Like it mattered. If Marie felt she needed moral support to visit him when he was injured that was her business. Weird, but definitely her business.

"Its not just you, its anyone. I'm just not used to it, thats all." He shrugged, giving her a bleary eyed, but serious look. "I take care of myself, always have."

He grinned at news of Sal and Lexi and managed a half a nod at mention of Jake. The guy was good, and Jim respected that, the half part was because Jim froze, expression cautious at mention of Neptune.

"What happened to Neptune?" Like, hospital wing, surely she was injured and thats why she was there, nothing to do with him.

Marie looked a little shocked when Jimmy said he had always taken care of himself. "You mean you've never had anyone there for you when you needed them?" She really found that hard to believe. He had lois of friends, even if he didn't have the most supportive family. "Judging from all the people that came to see you no one would ever guess that you didn't have anyone who cared about you."

She didn't miss his reaction to hearing Neptune's name. Of course, he automatically thinks something happened to her. Just another one to add to the list of those who worried about how Neptune was. Than again why did this surprise her? After all that had happened she was no fool. She knew that it was Neptune that he cared about. Even aparecium could see that, as did everyone who read it.

Letting go of his hand she sat back. "Nothing happened to Neptune." Mostly in part thanks to Matty stepping in and stopping Marie from punching the girl in the nose. "She was here to see you... being her usual dramatic self. She thought she should get to see you first. We got in an argument. She accused me of not caring about you, that all I cared about was the status of being your girlfriend. I may have told her that at least you didn't hide the fact that I'm your girlfriend and that it was too bad we couldn't say the same about her..." Yeah, that's when the Brat started crying like a baby.

Whatever. Marie really didn't care anymore.

"My parents love me and all that, they're just busy a lot and they know I can take care of myself. And when I was homeschooled, it wasn't like I got to see Finn or Ivan every day or anything." Jim reached out one hand and stroked Marie's cheek grinning gently. "Its not like I don't appreciate it, its just... different, thats all." And nice.
It was nice.

"She was here to..." He trailed off and listened to the rest of what Marie had to say, brows going up.

... wait, there was status associated to being his girl? Hah. Funny.... ehh. He rubbed at his face. As if stuff with him and Neptune was ever that simple. He chose not to comment on it.

"I know thats not what this is. For you or for me. I guess... I wonder if she knows that you've made me a better person." He did wonder. Not that it mattered if she had or not. And did Marie know? Jim gave her an earnest look. "I'm glad you came. It means a lot. Maybe we shouldn't talk about Neptune anymore."

It was just easier not to.

He was feeling better but starting to feel tired. He hid a yawn and then shot a glance over at the healer. He didn't want her to kick Marie out or anything. That would suck.
