This dress was turning out to not be a good idea. Sarah was alright walking in it, but it was other people she felt a little sorry for. The bottom of it was quite wide, hence the reason she was sweeping across the room towards the seats in the corner, practically brushing the floor as she went. How on earth did Queen Victoria wear these all day, everyday?

Mooshing the front of the dress together, Sarah swept the back around and plopped herself down on a free seat. As with the last ball they'd had, she was dateless - no boyfriend. Nothing. Sigh. So she resorted to people watching. One of the best pastimes ever.

Walking ever so...peacock like... Daisy found a seat and took it. She looked at the peacock feathers on her dress. She had enlarged them to make the dress and at this size she could see the colors ever so clearly. Peacocks were so pretty and elegant. She pulled at a curl hanging on her shoulder and sighed.

Eeeeeep! Melanie loved costumes! She didn't like dances or balls much, but that fact that it was a costume ball all made up for it in her mind. She was rather proud of her Robin Hood costume and it was quite clear, by the grin on her face, that she was already in an excellent mood.

She didn't feel like dancing and she wasn't hungry just yet so, naturally, she drifted toward the tables. Melanie was hopeful she'd find someone she knew, but she didn't. Maybe it was a little early. She didn't want to sit alone, though.

The girl shifted uncomfortably, hesitating for a moment before making her way over to the Head Girl's table. She'd never spoken to her before, but Melanie was pretty sure she'd been friends with Miranda. And if she was friends with the former quidditch captain, she had to be pretty nice, right? "Hi... I'm Melanie. I've seen you around before, I think. Do you mind if I sit here?" She usually wouldn't have bothered to wait for a response, but she found the fact that she was Head Girl somewhat intimidating, so she awaited her answer courteously. Huzzah, for manners.

Scratching the end of her nose, Sarah scanned the room. She actually wanted to dance, but doing it on her own would look kind of...well sad. And she didn't want that. She was beginning to wish Torin was still at school - or at least still wishing he was. He'd been a nice partner when they learnt dancing the previous term.

Getting lost in memories of her friend, she didn't immediately notice the girl approach her. Not until her view of the dance floor was obscured. Glancing up, a flicker of..something...spread across her face. Melanie? Melll--, OH! Yesss, she knew a Melanie. Not well of course, or the girl wouldn't have said just "seen her around". Miranda used to play Quidditch with her, yes? Well she could find that out in a minute.

The look Sarah sported now was a broad smile, as she nodded and pointed to the seat near her. "Of course not, be my guest." She put a hand to her chest and adjusted the necklace she was wearing. "I'm Sarah, it's nice to meet you Melanie." Pause "You played Quidditch with Miranda, didn't you?"

"Awesome! Thanks." Melanie's grin broadened, her sudden shyness fading rather quickly. She flopped into a seat sitting beside Sarah's, smoothing out the skirt of her costume and crossing her legs all lady-like. Meh. Melanie wasn't quite used to wearing skirts. "Nice to meet you too." Ohhh, yes, she did know Miranda! Melanie nodded proudly at the other girl's question. "Yep." she confirmed brightly. "Miranda was an amazing Captain. It's too bad we couldn't have quidditch this year, though." Pouuuuut. She wouldn't be surprised if her broom was mad at her, it got so little use during the school year.

"Do you like Quidditch?" Yep. It was a test.

Kita entered the Great Hall, one hand holding part of the skirt of her dress and the other hand holding her mask. She made her way to one of the seating areas and sat down.

She loved costumes! And even though hers wasn't exactly original, considering the fact that so many people had come looking Cinderella-ish, she loved the fact that she was able to dress up in a princess-y way. She could almost hear her mother's voice saying, 'every girl has a little princess inside who wants to come out every so often'.

She smiled as she looked around at everyone else's costumes. Everyone looked great! And they were so much more original than her. Hogwarts and costumes! These people really knew how to look great.

The moment Lavi had entered the Great Hall his breathing intensified. He never liked big crowds nor the idea of having to dance with someone. Having noticed a few seats at the side of the room, Lavi shuffled towards them. Letting his feet drag him to one of the tables. He looked around the ballroom, looking at the people talking, laughing and dancing. He sighed when he saw none of his friends anywhere.

Just as he wanted to sit down, he stopped halfway in a awkward position. Lavi noticed a girl with a beautiful Cinderella like dress sitting a few tables away. Not knowing what had gotten in to himself because mostly he avoided these situations, he walked up to her. Lavi nervously fumbled on his shirt as he tapped her on the shoulders, a shy smile on his face. "Uhm...hi..can i - can i sit here?" he asked with a slight stutter in his voice and pointed at the seat next to the girl.

Kita looked up at the boy dressed quite formally who was greeting her and smiled. "Hey. Yeah, sure," she said. She made sure her dress wasn't flowing on the chair and then looked back up at him again. "I'm Kita by the way," she said.

Lavi smiled in relief when the girl didn't tell him off. He bowed for her like he had learned when he was still in Asia and at a ball it wouldn't be weird , right? "Nice to meet you, Kita" he said as he stood up straight again "I'm Lavi" He mumbled a thank you as he sat down on a chair. He started to play with his hair that he had styled for the ball , trying to stroke away a few locks. Playing with his hair was a habit of him when he got a bit nervous.

Lavi never felt comfortable around girls, they always made him nervous and he never knew how to act cool around them. Because, let's face it. Girls like cool guys. Yea Lavi defenitely wasn't the cool type. People had called him too cute to be cool and at a moment as this it frustrated him. Right, he needed to say something, anything! "uh...i..nice, i mean... you have a beautiful dress, Kita" he said and could feel the warmth creeping up to his neck and face. Yup, girls still made him nervous. He really needed to talk to Art ...and fast! "So..uh, what house are you in? I 'don't think i ever saw you in the Slytherin house..." or he was just plain blind.

Kita blushed a little as he bowed. No one has ever bowed for her like that. She made a mental note of the word 'gentleman'. "Nice to meet you too Lavi," she said, smiling and still a bit flustered from the bow. Maybe she should courtesy?

The compliment made her blush some more. And to think she was asking for a smaller mask. "Thanks," Kita said, looking down at her dress and realising just how blue it is, "I like your outfit as well. It looks good on you." She clenched her teeth slightly and wondered why she had said that. "Well, the reason why you haven't seen me in Slytherin house is because i'm in Hufflepuff," she said, smiling, "And you're in Slytherin?"

Lavi shifted a bit in his seat, trying to sit up straight but still relaxed. He hadn't noticed the girls blush because he had to rub his eye carefully. When his father had send him his dress robe he had also given him a pair of contact lenses. Lavi knew, and apparantly even his father, that if he tried to use magic for his eye sight he would probably end up poking his eyes out. So now he was ditching his black framed glasses for lenses...and they were irritating him.

He stopped trying to adjust his contact lens and blushed a bit when the girl complimented on his suit. "Thank you" he said with a cute smile. "Ah so your a Hufflepuff" he repeated and loosened his tie a bit. "i'm a Slytherin , yeah" Even till this day he wondered why he had been sorted in that house. But it didn't matter right? he must be lucky to be in a school like this! "It was the Hufflepuff who became the champion of the tournament right?" He asked with a confused look on his face and then rubbed the back of his neck, laughing a small bit.

Kita smiled and re-adjusted herself. It seemed as though the dress was going everywhere. And to think it was perfect when she tried it on in the store. Pssh. She looked back at Lavi to see him... fiddling with his eye? Or something in his eye. If anything, she hoped it was the latter. "Lavi..." she said, being ever-so-concerned, "Are you ok?"

Kita smiled, secretly glad that she got his house right. The awkwardness would have been unbearable if she got it wrong and he ended up being in a different house. "It was? One sec," she turned to face him fully, "Are you telling me that Fletcher made it through?" The smile on her face grew as she clapped her hands. "But, what happened to the other champions?" she asked, "Sorry, i don't know what happened after the second task." She couldn't believe she didn't know that. And a Puff being a champion. Wooo!

Iris wandered into the hall on her own. Pfft. Where was Jimbo these days? It was like he was hiding from her! Never mind him right now, though. The prefect walked through all of the students that were all ready there, looking for either someone she knew, or somewhere to sit.

Yet there was NO ONE that she knew. Greeat. Pushing some of the many, many layers of tulle down , Iris found a seat and sat on it. Just like that.

Maybe if she sat here for long enough, then someone she knows might spot her...

"Yeah..i'm..fine" he said, starting to rub his eye again. "It's just, my dad send me a pair of contact lenses for this ball." he slowly lowered his hand away from his eye and blinked a couple of times before he chuckled a bit. "I prefer my good old glasses though, they don't irritate as much."

When Kita said 'one sec,' he was slightly confused. Was she going away? But then she looked at him and he couldn't help but laugh. The girl's smile grew wider and then she was even clapping her hands. "I haven't seen the Tournament. I don't really like big crowds. But from what i've heard from other students is that the Hufflepuff dude won" Lavi stroked away the hair that fell in front of his face. Awww man, he needed a mirror! "Raiden was second place, he's the prefect from my house but i don't know who was third place..." He tugged on his hair again, getting a bit annoyed that his styled hair was getting in to his old hairstyle again in this short of time.

Swish. Swish. Every time he moved his costume made a quiet swish sound. That was SO awesome. Legend gazed around the floor trying to spot one of his friends...there really wasn't anyone here yet...or anyone he could see at least.

The Gryffindor didn't mind balls. Last year was alright, but THIS one. Now this one was sooo much better. He got to dress up like an X-Men, how could it not? Plopping down on a chair, beside some girl he looked around again. Well...this was boring. "Um...hey?" Legend turned his body to face the girl.

Kita's confusion disappeared. She looked at his eyes and tried to see whether she could notice the lenses. It certainly didn't look as if anything was there. "Oh! That makes sense," she said, "I it your first time wearing lenses?" If it was his first time, then no wonder it was irritating him. Lenses had that power.

In her nervousness, and the fact that Lavi was laughing, she giggled. Yeah, she probably looked silly doing something like that. It's not like she cared. "Oh! I'm glad i'm not the only one who missed out. Wow. He actually won," she said, still feeling slightly disheartened by not cheering for the champion, "Oh! Well done! You must be proud for him. A Hogwarts champion and the runner-up being from Hogwarts as well..." She couldn't help thinking, beat that!

She turned back to him as a question popped into her head. "So, um, what year are you in?" she asked

Iris looked away from the dance floor when someone sat down next to her. When he spoke up, the girl smiled brightly. Like the glitter and rainbow colours on her face. Teehee. "Hey." Quickly, the prefect (who'd cleverly used her prefect badge to attach her rainbow hair piece to her hair ) looked the boy up and down. His costume was something very... Muggle. "Uh... I don't mean to sound rude, but what are you dressed up as?"

That did sound a bit rude, didn't it? Ahhh well. She could just flash him a SMILE to make it all better. Hehe.

Ohh! He had seen this girl...somewhere. Maybe? Legend wasn't sure but she looked familiar. He grinned back as the girl smiled at him. ALRIGHT so she wasn't going to attack him....yet...he had to wait and see if she was one of the sane ones. "Iceman. He's an X-Men." And of course some people at Hogwarts might not get it. By the looks on the girl's face she didn't get it either.

"He's like a Muggle Superhero, who has special powers that could turn stuff into ice." Which made him the best one. "Muggle Superhero's are pretty cool cause they have powers like us...'cept probably more limited." THERE that was enough information for anyone to get his coustume. Unless she was extremely Pureblood and didn't even understand anything he just said.

...Or she was just a stupid girl. "Are you like...a rainbow princess or something?" She had rainbow colors..and a dress...that made sense right?

Lavi nodded his head rapidly when she asked if it was his first time wearing lenses. "It is my first time wearing them, i could take them out but then there is a possibility that i'll start talking to the chair and think that's you" he let out a cute dolphin like laugh.

Lavi was amazed to find someone who also didn't go watch the Tournament. He had always talked to people who had seen it and he never liked to get a confused look on his face when they talked about what had happened. "yes, your house is the champion" he turned his gaze away from the girl and looked at the Hourglasses at the other side of the room. He squinted his small eyes but couldn't see the hourglasses , but the colours were easy to notice. "But Slytherin is winning the housecup now i'm looking at it." He said with a stupid proud smirk on his face. "So our houses are both winners" he laughed.

Lavi nodded his head again. "Of course i'm proud, i mean, i never met the guy but he's in my same house so yeah..." Lavi's stomach began to growl all of the sudden. He rubbed his stomach slowly hoping the girl wouldn't hear the growling. Aww man he was hungry! His eyes darted towards the food table and the hunger was visible in his eyes. No focus Lavi, Focus... He snapped his gaze away to look at the girl, glad she asked a question so that his mind was off the food...for a few moments. "I'm a fifth year, i came to Hogwarts in my fourth so that means i'm technically a second year" he chuckled at the idea. "What year are you in?" he asked back and tried to keep looking at the girl, not wanting to be rude. But he couldn't help but steal a few glances towards the delicious looking food.

An X-Man... Hmm. Riiight, so this kid liked Muggle stuff... Like superheroes. Oooh. Superheroes... They sounded cool. It's a pretty awesome costume, really. So that meant that this kid must be pretty cool. "Oooh... Okay?"

She listened to him explain what the superhero was. Which confirmed Iris' idea. Superheroes WERE cool. Because heeeello - they have costumes. Wizards don't have costumes. "wow... Well, I guess that means that you've got a pretty awesome costume on, then." She said, with a small nod of her head. Hehe.

When the boy asked what she was, Iris laughed. A rainbow princess... Teehee. "Rainbow Goddess, not Rainbow Princess." Iris corrected "Besides, I have no tiara for that Princess nonsense. I'm dressed up as how I imagine Iris the raiiinbow goddess to look like." The girl nodded and smiled. Then, she stuck her foot out from under all the tulle, showing the pointe shoe with the (magically) flapping wings on the back. "I've got the wings and everything." Well... Nearly everything. She didn't bother with a cadeus, because it'd be too much effort to carry about.

Kita started laughing. "That's why it's irritating you so much," she said, "My friend had them on and she wanted to scratch her eyes out. Sorry, that's not helping." She couldn't help but love the way he laughed and she laughed along. "At least i know that if that happens, it's not because you're being rude or something," she said.

She smiled. It sounded nice. It's not like she knew him but hey, he won. And she was proud of him. One Lavi mentioned the fact that Slytherin were leading the housecup, she looked over towards the hourglass and noticed the crystals. How is it that we're last? she thought, And why have i not noticed it before? Confused, she sat back a little. "Yep, we're both winners," she said, "Congrats!"

"That actually makes a lot of sense," Kita said, secretly glad that she wasn't the only one who was proud of someone she barely knew. It was when she was looking down at the ends of her brunette curls that she heard... something. She looked up sharply and looked around. Thinking that she was probably hearing things, she looked back at Lavi. "Really? What school did you used to go to before?" she asked, "Oh. I'm in my fourth year here." Was it really that long? Something she noticed was the way Lavi's eyes kept on darting somewhere. She followed his gaze. And that's when she noticed the food table. Why had she not noticed that before? Smiling, she looked back at him and asked, "Do you want to go get something to eat?"

Yeah alright, this girl seemed smart. If she could figure out that X-Men was cool, then she HAD to be"Of course I have a pretty awesome coustume. It's 'cause I'm a pretty awesome person. I'm like the coolest Gryffindor in the castle right now." And that was not a lie.

Blink. Goddess? Princess? Honestly...this was why girls were wacko. What was the difference? He wouldn't say that though of course. By her response though it seemed like a Goddess was so much better than a Princess. "Ohhh, yeah the Princess thing seems over done." If he looked around he could spot at least 5 girls dressed as Princesses. "Who is Iris the rainbow goddess?" Was he suppose to know who that was? Did they teach them history of magic when he was sleeping?!?

"Woahh! Those are cool."Okay..he had to admit that the flapping wings were cool. Everything else though...wasn't Legends style. Wait! Where where his greeting-a-non-crazy-Hogwarts-girl manners?"I'm Legend Chosen by the way."

"I was born in Japan, my father is Japanese wizard and my mother an English muggle" He smirked at his own sentence for a moment. "yes i'm a halfblood in Slytherin" Lavi stood up and grabbed another chair, he placed the chair beside him and layed his black boots on it. Ah, comfortable! "These boots are killing me" he laughed. "Anyways, i went to a magic school in Asia until my father decided to live here." Lavi thought back at the time , memories of his friends flashed through his mind and his eyes started to shimmer a bit. He blinked rapidly, he was NOT going to cry ! specially not in front of a girl! She must think he is weak or a softie or something...oh wait..he is.

Lavi looked up , face beaming as if a ray of sunlight glowed up on him. His stomach started to growl again and this time he didn't try to keep it quiet. "Yeah~! so sorry , but i'm so hungry! haven't eaten very well last night" Which was true, Lavi had only eaten a pancake and that was it. So not him, maybe he had been sick yesterday? "Eh...if you dont mind, of course..." he muttered, a blush covering his face as he fumbled with the hem of his shirt.

Kita gasped. "You're Japanese? You're the first person i've met who's Japanese! That's really cool!" she said, "Wow. That's even more amazing. Although, it just shows that you don't have to be pureblood to be in Slytherin." A confused look spread across her face as she saw Lavi bringing another chair around. But she laughed when she realised what he did. A girl in heels can totally understand that. "Wow," she said, "So you grew up there. Do you miss it there?" It was then that she realised that she probably shouldn't have asked what she asked. "Um... you don't have to answer that question," she said while a voice in her head said 'well done' sarcastically.

Kita smiled back and heard that sound again. So it was his stomach... she thought. "No, that's fine," she said, "Wow! No wonder you're hungry." Just the mention of food made her hungry. Although there was always the fear of spilling something on the dress. "No, i don't mind," she said, "I'm kind of hungry as well."
