The usual lab type benches and stools had been pushed aside for todays lesson, and the classroom instead contained two long, horizontal planters. Don't be put off by the large slug-like plants that protrude vertically out of the soil.. nor by the subtle smell of petrol that lingers in the air.

Professor Dodson pushed open the classroom door and stood back to wait for the arrival of the students. Last term he'd got the impression that a few of them had been slightly ... well, squeamish. How they were going to get on today, he had no idea..

He hoped they'd remembered gloves.

YAY HERBOLOGY!!

Trixie almost skipped into the lesson. She loved Herbology and this was reflected in the grade she got for her OWL's. It was a very helpful lesson. You never knew when it could come in handy. So she had an excuse for loving the lesson. And well, the Professor helped as well....

The Blonde took a seat in the classroom grinning over at Professor Sage quickly. "Good Morning Professor. How were your holidays?" the sixteen year old smiled, ear to ear. Now where were all her friends?

Actually rephrase that, where was ANYONE? Was it just her in the lesson today? Or was she simply very early. Pfft...Swot.

Adeline sauntered in. EWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!! Who in the world wanted to play in dirt??

She looked around and almost fainted. SLUGGSS?!?!?!?! What the heck.... well she mumbled "Hello Proffesor, how are you?" as she put on her gloved immideatley. Seriously? This was definatley NOT her type of class. Never in billions of years. And the smell, how the heck was she supposed to withstand this class?

Simon had nearly run down to the greenhouses having enarly forgotten about Herbology class. Managing just walking quickly, he paused a short distance from the door to gather himself not wanting to appear distressed.

"Good day professor," he greeted the man just inside the door as he walked up to him, his bag of supplies on his shoulder. Stepping further inside, Simon observed the planters down the middle of the classroom and tried not to make a face at the slight smell of oil.

This should be fun, he mused to himself with a touch of sarcasm as he waited for class to begin.

Hmm..

Evelyn was in a particular mood at the moment, that even she herself didn’t know how to describe. Blissful, yet mischievous? It was such a weird combination that she couldn’t help that half smirk, half serene smile to be played on her lips, with an air of laziness about it. As if she could just lay down and sleep.

The smell in the classroom slightly brought her back to reality however, but that didn’t stop her from smiling widely at the professor. "Good day to you, Professor Dodson." It was a nice day wasn’t it.

Freezing, yet sunny! Sorta. Was it? Aw well, that’s what it looked like in her mind.

Ella wandered into the Herbology classroom, feeling good. Besides the smell and occasional icky-ness of this lesson, she actually rather liked Herbology. It was kind of unknown as to why this was, but she was kind of interested by it.

She took a seat, then smiled at the Professor. "Good day, sir." BEAM. Such a teacher's pet when she wanted to be. Although, it didn't do her any favours when she was in Lafay's office.
Something told her that it was impossible to get on Professor Lafay's good side. Sigh.

Brittany walked into the Herbology class Cautiously. She had heard about some strange plants in this class so she wasnt to stoaked to be getting to up close and personal with them. The first to things that hit her was the smell and that creepy looking slimy plant. *shudder*. She didnt know if she was going to make it in this class

Today was and awesome day, and even the freezing cold of the december air couldn't change that. The first Herbology lesson was today, and theres nothing greater than dirt beneath your fingernails! She whistled a merry tune, as she skipped down to the greenhouses. Her nerves were not goingto bother her today... hopefully. She paused at the door, looking for one of her friends, Seeing Brit, she hurried over to her and sat down. Hey, she said to her friend and then truning to the froint of the class, "Hello, Professor!" she said brightly.

Destiny was looking forward to Herbology until she actually stepped foot into the classroom. The smell was just gross, but she refrained from holding her nose. She knew what was going on, and she did not want to hurt Dodson's feelings..yet.

The smell was coming from Dodson himself. He must have thought Lafay would leave him be if he smelled bad. Well, not only was the smell going to make Lafay leave him alone, it was going to make Carlton leave him alone as well. The man was going to be alone forever with only his plants to keep him company!

Meh, not Destiny's problem.

"Hello, Professor." she greeted, her nose wrinkling a bit as she made her past him.

FINALLY, it was time for her first Herbology lesson.

*SQUUUUUEEEELLLL!*

Rubiey was uber excited; she loved plants, and other nature things. Yeah, they were awesome. But magical plants? They were like 20times better. Well, as far as she knew anyways.

As she walked in, Rubiey spotted Professor Sage. "Heeeeeello, Professor." Cue BEAM. She was planning on this being her favourite lesson. Yups.

She went over and sat down, pulling her dragon-hide gloves out from her bag,and placing them neatly on her lap.

Let the lesson commence.

Nia walked into the Herbology classroom with a grin. She was in the mood for getting nice and messy in this lesson, so she hoped that such a lesson was on the cards. When wasn't it really? And it case it was a bit too gross, er gloves were slung across the top of her bag.

"Hi Professor," she said as she headed for the planter. Sniff, sniff. Interestinggggg. And slug like plants? Looked like fun. Grin.

Oh thank Goodness!!!! A familar red head walked over to her table and sat down next to her. "Hi Em." Brittany said looking relived. "I didnt know if i could make it in here by myself." she added. She then realied she had been rude an not spoken to the professor. "Hello Professor." she added with the best smile she could muster up. Yea today wasnt going to be a good day

Kita walked into the greenhouse with a huge smile on her face. She loved Herbology! It was such a great lesson and she certainly didn't mind all the plants they had to deal with. Even if they grossed her out sometimes. Ah well.

"Hello Professor," she said, looking at the professor briefly before turning to the rest of the class. That's when she noticed the plants. Woah, she thought approaching the slug-like plants with more caution. She knew all too well to make sure that she didn't touch a thing. Who knew what they were and what they could do to you. Another thing that annoyed Kita was the smell in the air. Is that petrol?! she thought. She hated the smell of petrol. Simple as. She took a step back from the plants, hoping she wouldn't be able to smell it.

One of her favorite lessons was beginning. Awesome. Thankfully it was in the greenhouse since it was a bit cold outside. Skipping into the greenhouse, her nose scrunched up at the smell. Think she would have gotten used to strange smells, but no. Apparently not.

"Hello, Professor Dodson." The girl beamed at the professor as she passed by him. Ready to get a bit dirty.

Ah! Someone else had remembered to bring along their dragon-hide gloves. "Hello, Miss O'Rielly. Hope you enjoy the lesson!" He smiled before turning to the next arrival.

Quite a turn out it was proving to be. Sage gave another polite bow of his head, this time in the direction of the Ravenclaw Prefect.

The Hufflepuff that hadn't looked very impressed addressed him, and Sage sent her a comforting smile. At least, he hoped it was a comforting one.. it felt more like a grimace.

At mention of gloves and how they would be needed if they were to touch the plants they would be learning about today, the 5th year was glad he had remembered them. reaching into his bag, he pulled out his own pair and slipped them on before placing his hands on his lap to await the continue.

Ellie HAD her gloves, of course. Ever since last term's 'blood' assignment, she took her gloves pretty much everywhere. But... "Exactly WHAT would happen if we DIDN'T have our gloves on?" Would it..burn their hands off. Like ACID?! She was too fond of her hands...

Nahnah. HERBOLOGY was uber fun.

She traipsed into class, with a huge smile and spotted Trixie. HEH. Of course SHE would've arrived as one of the first.

"Morrrrrrning sir," She greeted Professor Dodson and her nose crinkled. Uhmm.. what was that smell..? Erm.. EW?

"Is that the plants?" She asked, coughing a little. Because they'd need gas masks as well as gloves if so..

Marie wandered down to the greenhouses for the first herbology class of the term. This wan not really one of her favorite classes but it was one she knew she had to take, so here she was, entering the greenhouse.

Ewwwww, what was that smell? Snd why were those disgusting looking plants in here? Forget the fact this was herbology, they were just nasty looking.

"Hello Professor," Marie said as she cautiously walked passed the man. Was he aware of the smell in here? Spotting Evelyn and Destiny, Marie went and stood with them. "Hey guys, I think we need nose plugs to go along with our gloves." she said as she took her gloves out of her bag.

Of course Tory had her gloves with her. She wouldn't wanna get on the teacher's bad side in her first lesson. But what the professor said worried her a tad too. "Uh, Professor, why's it so important to have gloves on when touching the plants? What kind of plants are they anyway?" she wondered.

Of course Destiny had her gloves. Perhaps she had to slap them across the Professor's face for him to see that, but she really didn't want to serve a detention with the man. He'd probably stink even more by the time they made it to the dungeons.

Holding her gloves over her head, she waved them around a bit to show that she did have them. Besides, she did not want to resort to the closet gloves. Merlin knows whose hands were in them last and putting them on could result in some serious skin rash. No thanks.

Putting the gloves on her hands, she smiled when Marie came over. Hearing what her friend said they needed, she tilted her head in Dodson's direction before whispering, "You don't need nose plugs, he just needs a bath."

Destiny could help him there. A nice Aguamenti Charm would clean him right up.

Amy pulled on the new dragonhide gloves she'd bought in diagon alley. she smiled, though her gloves were clean now, they'd soon be covered in dirt and... etc. hehe
Amy raised her hand " what exactly are these plants professor?" she looked at the strange slug like things sticking out of the dirt.

With a bemused shake of his head, Sage turned to a couple of students that had question what might happen should they touch the plants unprotected. "Well, let's see if any of you know that," he said, pacing back and forth before them and glancing at the class. "Do any of you recognise the plants in front of you?" He hoped a few of them would.. They had read the textbook, right?
