Default Transfiguration Final: Practical Exam
Granddaddy Ravenclaw | | Jermione Granger

Please complete this portion of the exam within five days from the time of this post (July 23, 9pm EST / July 24, 1am GMT)

Please complete the exam in ONE post. This is worth 20 points; You will be marked on accuracy of spell, completeness (did you follow directions? how detailed is your post?), and creativity.

The test room is set up with four stations, each a single table. There are no chairs. You will transfigure three items at the first three stations and you will bring them all to the fourth and leave them there to be inspected. When you have dropped off your items, you may leave.

Station one is a regular desk. On it is a simple silver bracelet set on top of a picture. The picture if of the original item: a Hogwarts tie. The instruction sheet on the table reads: revert the bracelet to its original state.

Station two is a stool upon which rests a pink Frisbee. The instruction sheet beneath it reads: make a watch.

Station three is a small table. On the table is a box with holes cut in it, containing a chicken; a small pail with chicken feed and some space to work. Under the table is another box with a stuffed chicken toy in it. First and second years may choose to use this toy, instead. All others must receive special permission BEFORE their final to do so. The instruction sheet reads: make a pillow.

The fourth table is a long table with three boxes taped out on the surface, and the numbers 1, 2 and 3 taped out in them. The sheet reads: lay out your items in the appropriate boxes and leave the testing area.

Hope is the only thing stronger than fear.

Daisy walked in and read over the set of directions three times to ensure she knew what she was doing. She walked up to the first station and looked at the pictre then looked at the silver bracelet. She pulled out her wand whch was shakng a bit fro her nervous state. She took a deep calming breath. With a light flourish of her wand Daisy said, "Reverto." She watched as the bracelet became a tie. She compared it with the one in the picture and her heart fell a bit. There was still a small trace of silver in the tie. She took another breath and thought on the positive side, at least it turned into a tie. She picked it up and moved on.

Moving onto the second station Daisy had to try to visualize a watch. The Frisbee wasto clock shaped. he stood there and closed her eyes imagining that the Frisbee was flying and that as it flewis transfored into the face of a small clock. A wristband began to appear on the end of this small flying clock. Then the watch landed in her hand where a Frisbee should've been. It was one of thoes fancy watched her dad had. Stars for hands and Roman Numerals for numbers. The background would even change images between a sun and a moon depending on the time of day. She made three tight clock-wise circles, with a flick at the end and said, "Horolos." When she opend her eyesthe Frisbee sat there no longer and in it's place was the exact watch that Daisy had invisioned. She gathered it in her hand with the tie and went to the fnal station.

Daisy was hesitant when it came to this one last task. She felt the confidence from her last station but the fear that dhe's do something wrong and mess everything up right here. She decided to be a risk take and try using the real chicken. she gave it some chicken feed first to calmher nervous stte of mind and looked at it's feathers. The where a nice eggshell white and looked like if she were to pluck all of them they'd make a very comfortable pillow themselves. With that thought in her hed she pulld out her wand one last time. With a swish and flck she said, "Pulvinus." She watched the chicken form into anice comfy pillow and the smiled happily, until the pillow clucked. She sighed and picked up her clucking pillow after storing her wand in her robe pocket.

Walking up to the three boxes she reviewed each three items again. Item number one: A tie that had a hint of silver in it but was a tie none the less. Check. She dropped it into box one. Item number two: A perfect identical copt the watch her father owned down to the hands and te magically changing face. Check. Into box number two it went. And last but not least item number three: A chicken tranformed into a pillow, a clucking pillow, but a pillow. She squeezed it and it clucked at her. not a pillowshe'd ever sleep with. With that last thought she dropped it into the box and it gave out one more sqwak before she left.

Perhaps it was foolish of her, but Gold wasn’t nervous. She had worked hard this term, worked like this actually was her NEWT year, spending long days and even longer nights pouring over books - whenever she could get the chance, that is.

Soo. She had juggled friends, classes, homework, patrols, an abraxan, a baby clabbert, a scooter project, the return of a Slytherin who had left her without a word, and a love life – not necessarily in that order – alongside ot all and, at the end of the day, she had a right to be proud of herself. Because she had managed it all and, as she stepped into the classroom and looked around, come to realize that she was both happy and at her ease. This term hadn't worn her out.

Mm, she felt good.

Good, and ready for this final. Because, no matter what the grade she would receive on it, she was aware she would have the satisfaction of knowing that she had given it her best shot and – far more importantly than anything else – picked up more than a few moments of contentment and knowledge and light and learning, along the way.

Reversion.

What with all the practice she had had in classes and throughout the past terms, the spell that she would need to cast to transform the bracelet back into its original state had become a part of the basics she had picked up, as a student of Transfiguration. It was, in Gold's opinion, one of the easiest to work with, if you had the finer points such as incantation and wand movement down correctly.

And intent. Intent, Gold sometimes felt, was everything. Not only where magic was concerned, but in a lot of other situations, too.

She picked up the silver bracelet that rested atop the picture. It was important to get a feel of it, so that she could know what she was working with, what the properties she wanted to change actually were. Gold ran her slender fingers over it, examining it in the glow of the lighting. It wasn't sparkling, in an in-your-face kind of way. It was plain, but pretty, and it felt a bit metallic. Her green gaze shifted from it, to the photograph in front of her, that of the original item.

Tie. That would be much softer, much more 'flexible,' so to speak. Longer and - obviously - much thinner. Squishy even. The bracelet was round, lighter in colour than its original state, a near-perfect circle. Gold kept this in mind, concentrated on the differences, on the circle breaking open, stretching outwards, on the metal being replaced by softer, much softer, cloth. Momentarily, she closed her eyes as she gave a slow flick of her wand, moved it in an almost sweep-like flourish.

Re-ver-TOE.

Gold opened them again, and a small smile tugged up the corners of her mouth. There it was. A Hogwarts tie. She picked it up, and felt it between her thumb and forefinger. It felt much softer than a bracelet alright -- exactly the way a proper tie should.

Station two is a stool upon which rests a pink Frisbee. The instruction sheet beneath it reads: make a watch.
Oh.

Myy.

GOSH!

It was PINK! The Frisbee that rested upon the stool was PINK! Gold resisted the urge to flail her arms, and grab it, and run right out of the room, out into the grounds where she could play with the pretty, PINK! toy!toy. Because, you know, this was her final exam. She couldn't do that. It would mean a T, and how would she explain that?

Right. She had to turn it into a watch. Gold thought it was a pity, to be honest, that something so pretty [PINK!] had to be transfigured into something else. But wait! Intent, like they say, is often everything. Half the thing, if not all of it, at any rate. In other words, she didn't have to get rid of the PINK!ness. She could make the watch a pink one, too! In fact, Gold decided, she was going to make it a brighter shade of the colour. The Frisbee at the station she was at was a rather light - pale, if you will - shade of the colour, and a brighter one couldn't hurt.

She raised her wand, moved it in three, tight clockwise circles, and then gave a little flick at the end. Horolos. Her eyes, half-closed, could already picture the watch that she would get. Smaller than Frisbee of course, with a big dial, and a niice, flexible strap. It would be PINK!, of course. Dark shades of PINK!

She opened her eyes.

Viola!

The watch that lay on top of the stool was perfect! Of course, it wasn't like the elegant, rose-gold or silver watches she usually conjured, not even one of the old-looking but smart pocket watches she was so fond of, but PINK! Gold picked it up, and petted it. It obviously needed a name. Obviously. "You're Little Red II," Gold told it, cheerfully. If she could have red hair and be called Gold, a PINK! watch could be called Red, no? And of course, it was smaller than, say, an elephant.

So it was Little Red.

Little Red II.

The instruction sheet reads: make a pillow.
Gold moved on to the next station, wand lowered, though not relaxed. There was a box there, a little box that had holes cut in it, and those were a dead giveaway. Because, of course, the holes signified that there was something that could breathe, inside that box.

Most likely, this was going to be a case of animate-to-animate or animate-to-inanimate transfiguration. The latter was more probable, in fact, because that was something they had studied properly this term. It would clearly make far more sense for what they had been made to pay greater attention to, in the school year, to be included in the final.

Her guess was confirmed, when she looked at the instruction sheet. Make a pillow. Merlin, there wasn't a chicken inside that box, was there? Gold's mind flitted back to the last Transfiguration lesson of the term, to Mr. Peckerz - and as she finally let her gaze take itself off box and move away, she realized that there was a chicken, in there. Because there was a pail and chicken feed, next to the box. She had been so curious about and intent on the latter that she had missed the first two items, completely!

Silly of her.

But what did it matter, now?

She took a deep breath. "Here we go," she said and, gently, she lifted the lid off the box. Next moment, there was a sudden noise and Gold actually took a step back in alarm, as the chicky inside flaaaaaaped its wings [noisily, trust you me] and flew!hopped!no-idea-what'ed right out of the box. She was instantly aware of the need to make no sudden movements, to lower her voice if she did speak at all, so that the chicken's sudden distress would not cause it to make a dash across the classroom, and maybe even escape, flapping its wings all the way to freedom.

Because that would mean she would fail, and Gold didn't want to fail. Please no. Not after she had worked so hard all term.

Presently, the chicken seemed to realize she wasn't threatening him. Gold made a slight move towards him, unsure if she could pet him like she had petted Mr. Peckerz. This chicken didn't resemble Mr. Peckerz at all and, to be honest, was much, much cuter. Sort of smallish, not fully grown up perhaps. She actually wanted to hug him, he looked that adorable and biiig-eyed. Using some of the feed as a lure, she was able to convince the chicken to remain calm. "Think nice thoughts, Daffodil," she said, as if to encourage Daffodil - yes, that was his new name. To make sure he wasn't scared, or flustered, and continued to enjoy the feed.

Now that Daffodil was at ease with his surroundings, Gold could finally attempt the transfiguration. Swish, flick, point.

Pulvinus.

Chicken into pillow. The softness to remain, but to be reshaped. The beak to melt away, the limbs to disappear, the soft, warm feather to convert into smooth, cloth-like texture. Gold concentrated on all of it, on the switch from animate to inanimate, as she performed the spell. Then she bent down, picked up the warm, pink pillow that had replaced Daffodil and, tucking it under an arm, moved on to the next station.

Quote:
The fourth table is a long table with three boxes taped out on the surface, and the numbers 1, 2 and 3 taped out in them. The sheet reads: lay out your items in the appropriate boxes and leave the testing area.
The tie in the first box, the PINK! watch in the second, and the once-Daffodil, PINK! pillow in the third. Gold placed the items in their respective boxes, gently and one-by-one; and, when she had finally placed the pillow into the last one, straightened up.

She cast a happy look round the stations, satisfied that she had done as good a job as she could, and quietly withdrew, heading out of the testing area. She could do with a good meal, now!

Transfiguration. Matt had never really liked this subject, but he managed to get along with it by thinking that it could be of use in duelling. Anyhow, he felt that he was ready for this practical final. Even more than usual. Was the fact that he had confessed his undying love towards Tori Hardene helping with his mood? Well, we had better cross our fingers that it did and it would.

Alright. Flick and swish, no big deal. "Reverto," There. Perfect. The tie sat innocently on the picture, waiting for Matt to pick it up. And he did - which caused him to really appreciate the long hours of trying to transfigure his guitar into a piano. Of course, trials and errors are bound to happen once you add Matthew Archuleta and his wand together... but thankfully the guitar is now back to its original state.

A Frisbee? Suddenly the memories of an once-happy family hit him smack dab between the eyes, with the father playing that same game with the soon-to-be Hogwarts student in a park while the mother watches lovingly from under an oak tree... But those days were long gone. Not until the news of his father's rescue comes bounding into the Archuleta household, and especially not until Coraline recovers from her nervous tension. Sighing fervently to push the reminiscence out of his mind, he casted the Horolos spell on the Frisbee. It turned into a pink watch immediately, and Matt picked it up also.

"Pulvinus." The chicken turned into a soft, beige-colored pillow - his parents' favorite color. Cringing internally at the memory of what his mother had done to the pillows in her room just before he left for Hogwarts last summer, he picked it up between two fingers and continued to the next table.

Matt did as the instructions told him to, and quickly stride out of the area without another word. He would do well without anything more that reminds him of the past, which he is in a complete denial of right now.

Rex was interested to see what the final transfiguration lesson was going to involve. He looked around the room and saw that there were four tables. This could take a while, there were four assignments he needed to do. Well he better get started and get it finished as soon as possible, especially since there was no place for anyone to sit.

Rex walked to the first table. There was a silver bracelet here, it was pretty but there was a picture of a Hogwarts tie and a note. The note said to return the bracelet to its original state, could it have been a Hogwarts tie? Rex flicked his wand at the bracelet, "reverto", he said. The bracelet turned into a Hogwarts tie. That was a shame in a way, it was probably worth more as a bracelet, Rex thought as he moved to the next table.

Oh, there was a frisbee here. Rex had remembered playing with frisbees before, they were fun to throw around, though he had never seen a pink one before. This must have belonged to a girl. But it didn't matter, he was supposed to turn the frisbee into a watch. "Horolos," he said, making three circles with the wand, ending with a final flick. The frisbee was gone, it was now a large gold colored watch. Was that real gold, Rex wondered?

Rex almost laughed when he saw the third table, there was a live chicken here, together with a pail full of chicken feed. Then he saw what he was supposed to do. Oh. "Pulvinus", he said, flicking his wand. The chicken turned into a pillow, but Rex knew it was still a chicken underneath it all. It was even the same exact color the chicken had been, kind of a golden brown. He had better finish this project before the pillow clucked!

Rex moved towards the final table. There were three boxes there, and instructions to leave his items in the appropropriate boxes. He placed the tie in Box #1, that had been the first thing he had transfigured. Next, he put the watch in Box #2. Finally, he put the pillow in Box #3. "Goodbye, little chickie," he whispered, turning to leave the room. There had been plenty of chickens where Rex came from, in Texas. He liked them.

This being the one final she was most nervous on, Evelyn had studied long and hard for it, going over everything they had done in their lessons during the day, night, and even in her dreams...

...over...and over...and over again.

Which could have been the cause of why the dark bags under her eyes had appeared again. She had been going so well without them too. It was a shame they appeared again. Even the potion Lafay gave her couldn't help. Even though happy dreams were good, the potion didn't actually help her fall asleep. Rubbing her eyes, which of course matched the bags under them in color at least, Evelyn made her way into the test room and glanced around. Mhmm. Just as she suspected...

The sight of the four tables made her nerves kick in. Fantastic...

Quote:

Deciding to just get this over with, quickly and hopefully accurately, the slightly tired third year went over to the first table in the line to check out her DOOM the first challenge. A silver bracelet on top of a picture. Wonderful. Whaaat was she supposed to do?

Aw wait, a parchment! Mwaha! Would be helpful to read it, yes?

Scooting the parchment towards the edge of the table, closer to herself, the Slytherin's black eyes skimmed over the words, making sure they registered in her mind before looking back over to the picture and bracelet. Thank Merlin it wasn't a complicated bracelet. However, this was something she knew she could do, having done it time and time again before. Perfectly too. Well, she thought they had come out perfectly. Who knew what tiny details she could've missed.

Moving the instructions out of the way and moving the picture and silver simple bracelet closer, she gently scooted the bracelet off the picture, leaving them side to side as she glanced between the two. So, this bracelet was supposed to be transfigured into...that picture. The...tie in the picture. The...Gryffindor tie in the picture. Like, SERIOUSLY!? Couldn't she turn it into a Slytherin tie instead? Meh!

Having already known what kind of bracelet the one she moved was just by that simple touch, Evelyn was starting to become a bit more confident in this task. Staring at the slender, smooth, light, seven and a half centimeter, fake silver bracelet, and then to the Gryffindor tie picture, the cringe was hard to keep off her face. Oh well, she just needed to get through with this. Just to make sure though, Evelyn looked down at her own uniform, or more specifically her Slytherin tie, for a moment, she just held it in her fingers, making sure she knew how the other one was supposed to turn out. Except the other one, was red and gold. Not the awesomeness of green and silver.

Alright then. Deep breath and..."Reverto." she said, almost forgetting to put a bit more emphasis on the 'toe' part of the word, while lightly flourished her dark ash wand...all the while concentrating very hard on the Gryffindor tie. Eesh, Transfiguration was hard work.

Not realizing that she had been squeezing her eyes shut since she first started focusing on the Gryffindor tie, Evelyn slowly opened them to reveal...the Gryffindor tie sitting in front of her. Perhaps the tiniest bit dull in color but eh, what the heck...it was a tie! Not daring to touch it though, the third year moved onto the next station, willing her nerves to stay down and show themselves only AFTER she was done with the rest of the final.

Quote:
Station two is a stool upon which rests a pink Frisbee. The instruction sheet beneath it reads: make a watch.
Letting out a slow, calming breathe as she moved in front of the second table, Evelyn cringed at the sight of the pink...whatever it was....before once again, spotting another piece of parchment. Probably instructions.

Not bothering to scoot the thing closer, the girl quickly skimmed over the words, a little antsy to already be done with whatever this task was. Make a watch. Well, she could do that! This was probably the one spell in Transfiguration that she was rather good at. Sure, she may have been good at the Reverto spell too, but this one...she was the most confident on.

With a small smirk appearing on her lips, Evelyn laid her wand on the table for a moment to pick up the rather ugly pink thing. Raising a brow at it, and feeling how light it was compared to how it looked, she hastily put it back down...realizing that it was...

A muggle thing.

Yea, she had seen the muggle children playing with such a thing now that she remembered. She also remembered seeing them throw the thing and having dogs chase it. Probably some sort of torture advice for the dog or something. Meh. Crazy school, giving them crazy things to transfigure.

Apart from all the craziness though, she had a watch to transfigure! Poking the torture device PINK thing once more and sneering at it slightly, the Slytherin held her wand up before quickly thinking up what kind of watch she wanted the thing to turn into. Something, not pink. Yea, she would show it! How dare it flaunt that disgusting color in front of her! Pfft, like it didn't have a choice but to be that color.

"Horolos." she said, creating three tight clock-wise circles with her wand, and with a final flick at the end...the PINK monster was now a rather good looking watch.

Well, it wasn't exactly how she wanted the watch to turn out, (and thank Merlin it didn't have Kingsley's face on it) hoping that it would have been completely silver instead of...Pink... but, well, the Professors and test graders (whoever they were), didn't have to know that. Mwaha!

Smirking at the thought, Evelyn finally moved onto the third and hopefully last table as it looked to be.

Quote:

Under the table is another box with a stuffed chicken toy in it. First and second years may choose to use this toy, instead. All others must receive special permission BEFORE their final to do so. The instruction sheet reads: make a pillow.
The rather...strange and mysterious table.

Her eyes widened however when she heard an unexpected, and unwanted noise, come from the box that had holes in it. The familiar chicken feed in a small bucket to the side only confirmed her suspicions.

There was a chicken in there.

Obviously, however, this was something that was neither comforting nor encouraging. She knew which spell this called for, and it was the one spell she had troubled with. She had practiced loads on that stuffed animal she had borrowed from Professor Kingsley, but this was a live chicken. It was full of organs and stuff, instead of the fluff stuff inside the stuffed animal.

ALRIGHT! She was going to do this. CHICKEN...prepare to be a pillow! Grabbing a handful of chicken feed, Evelyn took a hesitant step back and leaned forward to open the top of the box. There was indeed, a live, clucking, wing flapping chicken in...there...

Nooooooo....WAY!

Once again, her eyes widened in surprise as she saw just exactly which chicken it was. She knew this chicken. Yes, she did. It was the one that kept staring holes and craters in her head and arm during that one class. Kingsley did this on purpose, she was convinced! He knew that this chicken bothered her to no end. What with it's beady little black eyes staring at her...just...

...staring. Like it was right now. Pffft. Well, she was just going to stare right back at it! And perhaps, waste five minutes doing so!

Once those five minutes were up however, the Slytherin slowly reached forward and placed the feed in a small pile in front of the chicken, who still hadn't moved from out of the box yet, and waited. It was still...starring... "Stooop." she whispered unnervingly, leaning back away from the table and unsure what to do.

Scoffing when it did the exact OPPOSITE of what she POLITELY requested it do, instead, she tried to picture the dang thing as a pillow. Can't stare at her like that while it was a pillow can it?! NO! It couldn't!

"Pulvinus." she said with a flick and swish of her wand, putting alllllll of her intent behind it. Hehe.

Hehehehehehe. Pillow action has juuuust taken place here folks! Poking the pillow just to be sure it didn't cluck at her or anything, for a moment, she paused and stared at the pillow, unsure if the feathers were supposed to be on the outside of it...orrr...

If the feathers were on the outside, then what was on...the inside? Not wanting to find out, Evelyn quickly moved on to the next table. Stupid chicken.

Quote:
The fourth table is a long table with three boxes taped out on the surface, and the numbers 1, 2 and 3 taped out in them. The sheet reads: lay out your items in the appropriate boxes and leave the testing area.
And, another parchment of instructions! What a surprise...

Reading over it though, a silly little half smile, half smirk on her face as she realized she really was done now, Evelyn moved back over to each table to gather the things she transfigured and then...back to the final table.

One, nearly-awesome-Gryffindor-tie for the first box, one almost-all-silver-but-some-reluctant-PINK-still-stuck-on-it watch for the second box, and finally, one not-so-sure-if-the-feathers-are-supposed-to-be-on-the-outside pillow for the third box.

Ohhh yeaaaa. She was done. She would've done a victory fist pump in the air, buuut, well yea, that just wasn't her style. She would just have to stick with the mischievous little smirk on her face as she turned to leave the room.

Sleep. Sleep was good before the nerves kicked in.

Taking deep breaths, Dianna walked inside the classroom. This was her first final exam and surprisingly it was much more quiet than she'd thought it would be. She slowly strolled to the four stations where the exams will take place.

The first instructions read "Revert the bracelet to its original state.". No problem she thought. Slowly but surely she pointed her wand at the bracelet and concentrated.
With a simple flourish to her wand she muttered "Reverto.". The bracelet quickly turned back into a Hogwarts tie. Good.

The second table's instructions said "Make a watch.". Yes, she knew this. Thinking hard she said "Horolos." with three clockwise circles and ending with a flick. She smiled as she saw that the frisbee had turned into a simple watch with a green strap. Just a little thing to show her house pride.

Walking over to the third and final table she began to tremble. Gripping her wand tightly she took a step forward and read the instructions. "Make a pillow." as simple as that and then this would all be over. Choosing the live clucking chicken she closed her eyes. "Pulvinus!" and the chicken was now a nice white pillow.

Breathing a sigh of relief she gathered the items from the first table to the third and placed them all on the labeled boxes of the fourth just how the instructions told them to do so. She smiled once again before leaving the room.

Good Lord. Ella, who was walking as slowly as possible into the classroom, was sooo nervous. Transfiguration wasn't something she took seriously, but then again, she hadn't taken many of her lessons seriously this term. She had been too focussed on more important things.

No! Social/Love life was NOT more important than classes. School was a place of learning. Mehhh.

Quote:
Station one is a regular desk. On it is a simple silver bracelet set on top of a picture. The picture if of the original item: a Hogwarts tie. The instruction sheet on the table reads: revert the bracelet to its original state.
Approaching the first station, Ella took a deep breathe before looking at the instruction sheet. Reversion. Well, at least the first obstacle was pretty easy for her. The fact that she was quite confident about the first station, made her more cautious of the following ones. Obviously, the instructions would get more difficult as they got through the exam. Bllleh, back to this station for now. She always remembered the spell because it did exactly what it said on the tin.

And with that confidence shining through, "Reverto!" She said with her wand facing the braclet. Oh, dare she look??!

Phew! When she finally looked down, she sighed a breathe of relief as a tie sat before her. Although it didn't look like a very tidy tie. It was like, someone had scrunched it up into a ball, then thrown it around the room, then un-scrunched it and placed it on the table with all the creases. But.. Ella didn't know a spell that got rid of creases, so this would have to do. And she was fine with that.

At least she had managed to produce a tie, and not something like.... A tie-GER. Hehe, but that probably wasn't possible... But it could be. *cringe* Ella smiled, but that disappeared immediatley as she looked towards the next few stations.

Quote:
Station two is a stool upon which rests a pink Frisbee. The instruction sheet beneath it reads: make a watch.
.... A pink frisby? Transfigured into a watch? WTH, that was so random. And it sounded bloomin' difficult too. Now was the time to think, 'cause Ella seriously had no idea what to do at this point.

Tobloronos? Uhh, no, that was a muggle chocolate bar. H-Holobos? Something in her mind stuck with the letter 'H', but she still wasn't sure about the spell. How many chances were they allowed? Ahem. She whispered, "Holobos!" With her face sitting directly in front of the frisbee, nothing happened. She stood up straight an considered it again...

Now she was just thinking of every word in the dictionary that began with 'H'. But then something clicked in her mind. *gasp* Was this a recollection of a lesson?! "Horolus!" She said spontaniously. Aaaaaand....

o_O That is the ugliest watch she had ever seen.

Not just because it was pink, the shape and size of it was just.. Ew. She figured that she had only just done the spell to a good standard. It looked a little like a a literal cross between a frisbee and a watch. And the fact that it was still pink, confirmed that she hadn't done a very good job. She hadn't wanted it to turn out pink..

Quote:
Station three is a small table. On the table is a box with holes cut in it, containing a chicken; a small pail with chicken feed and some space to work. Under the table is another box with a stuffed chicken toy in it. First and second years may choose to use this toy, instead. All others must receive special permission BEFORE their final to do so. The instruction sheet reads: make a pillow.
With two, kind of, completed objects, Ella made her way to the third station, feeling a lot calmer than she did at the start of the exam. She was half way through now! Awesome! She stood still for a moment and reluctantly opened up the box......

!?

There was a live, yes, in the flesh, chicken sitting inside the box! Well, it WAS sitting. As soon as the box opened, BAM, the chicken flapped around and couldn't keep still for a moment. Jeeeeesus, how was she going to focuss if the chicken couldn't freaking keep still!?

"Keep... Still!" She muttered to herself as she tried to move the chicken back into the box. After a couple of failed attempts, the creature finally was placed back into the box. Now, she had to act fast before it got up again.

"Pulvinus!" She said confidently. Whee, a spell she actually knew from the top of her head. And, hey presto, the chicken transformed into a fluffeh pillow. You know, one of the kinds that feathers come flying off when you flap it around. Ironic, that. Wow, this had to be the only object that seemed romotely perfect to her. The others had some sort of minor problem.

Quote:
The fourth table is a long table with three boxes taped out on the surface, and the numbers 1, 2 and 3 taped out in them. The sheet reads: lay out your items in the appropriate boxes and leave the testing area.
Right, just one more station to go. OH! It wasn't even another challenge. It was just boxes to place their finished objects in. Blimey, what a relief. So, in the first box, she placed the scruffy tie in. In the second box, she placed the pink, abnormally sized watch. And in the third box, she put down the feathery pollow.

So, that was that, and the exam was finished. Wheeeeee. And it wasn't even as bad as she had expected it to be.

Destiny was really looking forward to the Transfiguration final. It was the subject she studied the most for and it was one of her favorite subjects. Plus, she felt she was good at it, but she was probably wrong. Oh well. She would just keep telling herself that she was..

..until someone told her to stop.

But that would mean people were reading her mind since she never said that stuff out loud! Great. Now she was paranoid, and she was afraid to walk into the room. She would be thinking about people reading her mind the whole time.

Sighing, she stepped into the classroom, and noticing the four different stations set up and the lack of chairs, wiped her mind of..people reading it. She was too busy wondering where she was supposed to sit! Surely, they couldn't take the test standing up! Unless..it wasn't a written exam! Ha! It wasn't, which meant she wasn't going to need a chair. Phew. She didn't know how to conjure one anyway.

Quote:

Making her way over to the first station, and seeing the bracelet sitting on top of a picture, she KNEW what needed to be done. She had to balance the picture on her head, and try to clasp the bracelet on her wrist WITHOUT the picture falling off. Pfft, that was easy. She didn't know what that had anything to do with Transfiguration, but she was not the Professor, and she didn't know what was going through that wonky brain of his. She picked up the picture, finally noticing what it was a picture of, and then glaced at the bracelet.

Oh.

Ohhhh.

Bahaha! She wasn't supposed to WEAR the bracelet; she was supposed to change it back into a tie. Good thing Destiny is observant and noticed what was on the picture, yeah? Yeahhhh. Setting the picture down, she picked up the bracelet and examined it. She wondered if it was expensive..but it couldn't be, since it was really a tie! Mentally slapping herself for even thinking that, she placed the bracelet down in front of her and drew her wand. She could SO do this, she could! It'd be easy as pie..which reminded her that she was hungry. As soon as she finished this final, she knew where she was going; to the kitchens.

Taking a deep breath, she glanced at the picture once more. Was that a..Hufflepuff tie? Crud..why couldn't it have been a Slytherin tie, hmm? Kingsley did that on purpose, she was sure of it. Frowning at the tie that WOULD appear on the table, she concentrated on changing the bracelet. "Reverto!" she said, making sure to emphasise the 'TO', and gave her wand a light flourish. At first it didn't seem like it worked, and she was juuuuust about to give her wand a rather rough shake when she looked down and HUZZAH! Sitting on top of the table, a Hogwarts tie appeared in place of the bracelet.

After poking it a few times, to make sure it wasn't going to vanish, she picked it up and slung it around her neck. This would be the closest she would ever get to being a Huffie.

And she didn't like it.

Quote:

Only two more stations to go.

Destiny made her way over to the second station and spotted the FRISBEE sitting on top of a stool. She figured the stool wasn't for her to sit on, but it was tempting. Something else that was tempting, was throwing that frisbee, but she figures neither was allowed. Picking the frisbee up, she bent over to read the instructions. Turn it into a watch..that seemed easy enough..

..unless it was a TRICK!

She narrowed her eyes at the frisbee in her hand, just daring it to do something. What if it was one of those fanged frisbees?

SWEET MERLIN, WHAT IF IT WAS!?

Placing the frisbee back down on the stool, she took a few steps back. That frisbee was not going to get her, nope. It was going to be a watch in no time at all.

"Horolos!" she said, moving her wand in three tight circles then giving a flick. Now sitting on top of the stool was a rather..ugly watch. What kind of watch was that!? Merlin! She would have rather had a butterfly watch or something, but THAT!?

Eww.

Afetr poking the watch a few times, making sure it didn't disappear or bite, she picked it up and placed it in her pocket. She didn't need to be seen with a Huffie tie around her neck AND an ugly pink watch in her hands.

Plus..by the look of the next table, she was going to need BOTH her hands.

Quote:

The instruction sheet reads: make a pillow.
Very slowly, Destiny made her way over to the third table.

A box with holes could mean one thing and one thing only: There was a CHICKEN in there.

Yeah, it wasn't obvious or anything with the clucking and all.

Taking the final step towards the table, a grimace appeared on her face. It looked like the same chicken from class. "You again?" she asked crossing her arms, and waiting for an answer. As the chicken clucked, she nodded her head, "Yeah, it's me." She could totally understand chickens, since she was one herself once for five minutes. Uncrossing her arms, she placed her wand in her mouth so she could reach in and grab the clucking creature.

Easier said than done, that's for sure.

As soon as her hands went inside the box, the chicken flapped and clucked and PECKED at her. Pulling the wand out of her mouth, she placed it on the table next to the box. "What is YOUR problem, hmm? Don't want to be a pillow, eh?" The chicken gave a cluck, and Destiny FROWNED, "You wouldn't DARE!" There was no way she was going to allow the chicken to lay another egg, since that was what that cluck meant.

Tilting the box, so it now lay on it's side, she reached in the pail and spread some chicken feed on the table. She KNEW the chicken would come out, since it wouldn't be able to resist it. Heck, Destiny was SO hungry, she was about to eat it..if, you know she was a chicken and all. Slowly, and I mean slowly, the chicken made it's way out, pecking the food that was laid out. As the clucking monster was distracted, Destiny picked her wand off the table and gave it a swish and a flick, "Pulvinus!"

Oh SWEET MERLIN!

Even in pillow form, the chicken got the last word cluck.

After giving the pillow a couple pokes, making sure it would disappear or change back into the annoying chicken, Destiny picked it up and, resiting the urge to throw it, she placed it under her arm and walked over to the FINAL table.

Oooo, she wonder what she would have to do next.

Quote:
The fourth table is a long table with three boxes taped out on the surface, and the numbers 1, 2 and 3 taped out in them. The sheet reads: lay out your items in the appropriate boxes and leave the testing area.
Oh.

It was over.

The final was FINISHED!

Removing the pillow from under her arm, she gave it a quick wave over her head in triumph. She quickly remembered the pillow was, in fact, a chicken, so she stopped swinging it and placed it in the box marked with a three. "Sorry, chicken pillow." she said, and gave it a wave goodbye. Moving to the box marked two, she dug in her pocket for the ugly watch and when she felt it in all it's ugly form she pulled it out, and without a second glance, she placed it inside. Now she just needed to get rid of the Huffie tie.

It was starting to itch.

Standing in front of the box marked one, she removed the tie from her neck and placed it inside.

Now officially DONE, she stowed her wand, and quickly left the room. She needed to eat!!

Patroclus squared his shoulders, rolled his neck and gripped his wand, all the while remembering to breathe.
As he pushed open the door to the Transfiguration final, the mantra of spells, incantations and wand work, rotated in his head, like the broken record of some long forgotten gramophone.

Flourish reverto 3 clockwise circles flick horolos swish and flick pulvinus, flourish reverto 3 clockwise circles flick horolos swish and flick pulvinus, flourish reverto 3 clockwise circles flick horolos swish and flick pulvinus, flourish reverto 3 clockwise circles flick horolos swish and flick pulvinus, flourish reverto 3 clockwise circles…

The chant cut off, as the boy lost himself in the room, four tables, four boxes – one with holes, a Frisbee and a bracelet. Taking it all in, Patroclus prepared himself, for Mother he thought as he made his way over to the first table.

Quote:
Station one is a regular desk. On it is a simple silver bracelet set on top of a picture. The picture if of the original item: a Hogwarts tie. The instruction sheet on the table reads: revert the bracelet to its original state.
Patroclus was pleased to see an image of a Hogwarts tie and set of instruction underneath the bracelet. As his eyes rolled over the text, whooping occurred in his stomach; Patroclus had become quite proficient at reversion, but the added stress of the situation momentarily frightened him.
Taking a breathe, the boy regained his nerve, no time to lose your head, he heard his father in his thoughts. Taking the picture in his hand Patroclus studied the Hufflepuff tie he saw before him. He knew what a tie felt like, he had worn one nearly every day this year, the Lion let the feeling fill him, he felt the heaviness of his own tie around his neck, and slowly his mantra began to creep back into his brain. Flourish reverto, weight of a tie, flourish reverto, the colours of the badger, flourish reverto, the feel of the threads.
His foot began to twitch, his toe pinching at his sock, toe, toe,Toe!

“Reverto!” with a light flourish and an emphaise on the ‘toe’, Patroclus marveled as the simple silver bracelet before him vanished replaced with warm tones of a tie from the House of Helga Hufflepuff.
A smiled filled appeared on the boys face, he had done it. The tie was perfect!
Rolling up and leaving the tie, still smiling Patroclus made his way to the next station

Quote:
Station two is a stool upon which rests a pink Frisbee. The instruction sheet beneath it reads: make a watch.
Perfect another instruction sheet, Patroclus thought, before realizing, they were actually necessary.

The boy’s face remained dead calm, 3 clockwise circles flick horolos 3 clockwise circles flick horolos, his study song returning once more.

Of all the spells they had covered this year, it was the Clock spell that had given Patroclus the most trouble. However he was determined not to panic, he knew the theory; in fact the blasted song wouldn’t stop bothering him, he would manage. Patroclus began to survey the item they were to transform, it was a Frisbee. Patroclus had played with them many times before, often enchanting them to fly on their own accord, but alas now was not the time for fun and games, it was time for Transfiguration.

Formulating a clear image of a wrist watch in his mind; Patroclus began to mentally perform the spell, seeing himself complete three clockwise circles with his wand, and speak the incantation. In his head he could do it, perfectly at that, why should reality be any different……

Clearing his throat Patroclus hung his wand over the Frisbee, “Horolos” he cried, simultaneously performing three quick clock-wise circles and ending with a flick. The pink Frisbee slowly shrank, its colour and size changing, till at last before the boy was a wrist watch. It’s metal still held a soft pink hue, but at least it was a watch. More than pleased with his efforts Patroclus moved on.

Quote:

The instruction sheet reads: make a pillow.
No instructions were necessary for station three. A soft chuckling noise, and the faint smell of farm earth, told Patroclus that housed in the box with holes, was a chicken, a chicken he was to transfigure into a pillow.

The Old Pillowrization, it brought back fond memories, it had been only a few days since his parting from Mr. Feathers, but to Patroclus it felt like years.

The young Gryffindor couldn’t help but hope as he began to lift the flaps, that housed inside would be his beloved chicken, but alas in its place he found a rather proud looking old rooster, his plumage lacking the luster Patroclus was sure it once had. Had the chicken been Mr Feathers, Patroclus would not have hesitated in lifting him from the box, and allowing him to parade on the desk, however with the new rooster the boy was quite unsure. “I am going to leave you in the box, but I still need your total co-operation, is that agreeable?” Patroclus began, taking the chicken’s look of indignation as a sign of agreement, [B]“I need you to imagine you are a pillow, that’s a good boy!”[B]

The spell and incantation were fresh in the boys mind, having been taught it only recently. However that did not stop his mantra from appearing in his thoughts; swish and flick pulvinus, brushing them aside Patroclus readied himself.

With the image of a pillow in his head Patroclus raised his wand, swishing it to the right, then rounding his movement into a downwards flick, “Pulvinus!” he cried. With an audible pop in the place of the proud old rooster was now a pillow that seemed to represent him to a ‘T’. In honour of the birds red and gold plumage now sat a just as aged damask pillow. True it was not the pillow he had planned but he rather preferred it, not only Gryffindor colours, it was the pillowy embodiment of the rooster.

Quote:

Moving to the next station Patroclus was ecstatic to see that he was finished, and that the final three boxes were for his transfigured goods!

Gigging with delight, Patroclus danced his way back up the row of tables, collecting his tie, watch and pillow.

Storing each one in its allotted box, the Lion couldn’t but cry out, “Thank Merlin!” as he said farewell to his work.

Transfiguration; Tick!

Okay Sarah, you can do this. You've done OWL's, this shouldn't be too hard. Really. Urrrr.

Sarah was trying to psych herself up as she entered the Transfiguration classroom. It was a subject she liked, but you never can be sure of getting things right all the time. Heh. Clearing her throat she walked over to the first station, reading the note that was resting alongside the objects. "Revert the brac--- . Okay, I can do that."

Picking up the picture, Sarah ran her fingers over it and tried to imagine what the tie would actually feel like. She remembered that they had to try and find the similarities between the two things, but from what she could see, the bracelet was not really anything like the tie. Didn't have the Ravenclaw crest for a start. But she would have to remember what that looked like. Shame it couldn't be Hufflepuff, she thought to herself, replacing the picture on the desk with a sigh. I know that one off by heart.

Twiddling her wand between her fingers, Sarah took a longer look at the picture of the tie, making sure the image was burned into her memory, before fiddling with the bracelet. It was smooth, like a tie was. And in a loop, like a tie could be when wrapped. Maybe there were some similarities after all. Putting it back down, she closed her eyes and concentrated on what she wanted the tie to look like...

"Reverto!" Sarah gave the customary little flourish of her wand, and put more emphasis on the TOE part of the word. There on the desk was a Ravenclaw tie, all coiled up, just like in the picture she'd been given. Beaming in delight, Sarah clapped her hands together before wrapping it around her neck and moving on to the next station.

O__________o

A pink Frisbee? Which they had to make a watch out of? Presumably it would turn out to be a pink watch, as Sarah was struggling to get past the colour. Lori would just love this, she could see her happy smiling face now, not wanting to change it. Hehe. Anyway, back to the action.

Tracing around the rim, Sarah imagined the face of a watch. They were round too. Mostly. Hers was square, but that wasn't important right now. This one was going to be round - and pink. And... yeah, mainly pink.

Racking her memory, she thought back a few weeks to their lesson, visualizing the wand movement for the spell. It was slightly more complicated than the last one, and she was determined to get it right. She didn't want to end up with a gigantic... Frisbee watch, or something. Spreading her fingers around her wand, she flexed them as she pointed the wand at the now back-on-the-table Frisbee.

With three tight circles, and a little flick, she said the incantation. "Horolos!" All the while picturing a fancy, sparkly watch forming from the Frisbee. It shrunk, and the top and bottom stretched into straps, leaving the middle indentation as the face of a brand new Pink!Watch. "Heh. Well at least it looks like a watch. Wouldn't wear it outside this classroom though," she mumbled, attaching it to her wrist and moving on.

It was a chicken. She knew it was, even before she opened the box. The holes in the top, and little bowl of grain food was the big giveaway.... Plus she could hear a slow, gentle clucking coming from inside. Sarah was nothing if not quick in picking these details up. HEH. Although at least trying to picture a chicken as a pillow wasn't going to be too hard, most were filled with feathers anyway. Now getting the chicken to cooperate was another matter.

Taking a handful of the food, Sarah spread it out across the area of table she was going to work on. She thought it best to do that BEFORE taking chicky out of the box, so it would give him/her something to focus on besides trying to fly, or hop, away. "Okayyy little buddy, here we go." Carefully, she opened the flap on the box and peeked in. There, staring back at her, was a brown chicken. Quite plump actually, and giving her the sad eyes. It knew what was coming, didn't it?

Sighing, Sarah reached inside and placed a hand either side of it's stomach, stroking it in a reassuring way. "I promise this will not hurt you. You won't feel a thing." Maybe. Depends on how well I perform the spell. Gulp. LIVE CHICKEN ALERT!

"Oh oh oh oh oh!!! FLAPPITY FLAP FLAP. HELLLLPPPP!" Sarah screeched slightly as the bird fluttered it's wings as soon as she put it down on the table. "Noooo, Kentucky don't do that. Calm down!" Yes, she had just called the chicken Kentucky. Pffttt, she could be evil when she wanted, and it had just smacked her in the eye with it's wing. She wasn't totally heartless though, and gave it another handful of feed to keep it occupied. "I'll make this as quick as I can," she said to the now stationary bird.

Taking her wand back out of it's holster, she pointed it straight at the chicken. With a swish and flick, and a strong "Pulvinus!" Sarah imagined a yellow puffy pillow in it's place. Hopefully less flappy too. With a little pop, the pecking chicken turned into exactly what she'd been thinking. Grinning, she gave it a slightly suspicious look, turning it over with the end of her wand. Yep, no trace of chicken left... Except the feathers it had shed in it's initial panic. "Lovely."

With the first two items still on her person, which may not have been a good idea with a flapping chicken, Sarah picked up the pillow and wandered over to the fourth, and last station. Eyeing the boxes, she then looked down at her things. Shrugging, she placed the pillow in box three. Undoing the watch from her wrist, she put that in box two. Then the tie was next. Taking it off her neck, she carefully placed it in box one.

Nodding in satisfaction, Sarah looked up and around the classroom, smiling at having finished. Turning on her heels, she nearly skipped out the room.

Ellie slowly stepped into the testing room. Looking around, she saw the four tables. It was very intimidating, being in a room with nothing but four tables. Four unforgiving tables that would, ultimately, decide if she had accomplished anything in transfiguration her first year. If all her work had paid off. It was unfair, in a way. What if her wand failed her? Not that it had failed her yet, but what if this was the one time it decided to act out? The one time when she had depended on it most since the day it chose her in Diagon Alley...

And now she was thinking too much. She was psyching herself out. She couldn't do that to herself. Her red hair whipped around, encompassing her head as she shook it, clearing all her negative thoughts. She had done everything. Attended all the lessons, practiced every spell. There was absolutely nothing she should be afraid of. Nothing.

So, with that new mind-set, she approached the first table.

Quote:
Station one is a regular desk. On it is a simple silver bracelet set on top of a picture. The picture if of the original item: a Hogwarts tie. The instruction sheet on the table reads: revert the bracelet to its original state.
Her eyes caught the picture first. A picture of a simple Hogwarts tie. Then they drifted up to the glinting bracelet. Finally, just as she was wondering what Professor Kingsley had expected them to do, her eyes found the instructions. Revert? Oh, that was easy. She could do reversion. That was, perhaps, the easiest thing she'd been taught this year. And it never took her more than once to revert an item back.

But she took her time, anyway. Remembering the strategy they were taught their very first lesson, Ellie thought of properties. She picked up the bracelet from the picture, and placed it onto the table. It was cold. Most likely from being made of silver. So, it would have to soften up. It would need to become un-shiny, and thicker, and black. And, finally, much longer. The trickiest part, however, would be getting the Hogwarts crest to appear on it. But..if she concentrated hard enough...she would be able to do it.

The first year took her wand from it's holster, and pointed it at the bracelet. Giving her wand the usual small flourishing, she said, "ReverTO!" in an ordering manner. She wasn't going to mess around with failed attempts. Especially with something that came at great ease to her. She had also payed close attention to the emphasis on 'toe'. Just the way they were taught.

Looking back at the what was once a bracelet, a smile appeared across her face. Why? Because there was no bracelet on the table. Instead, there was a tie. Oh, and not just any tie. A black one. A black tie, at the very bottom of which-the wide part-was a crest with a tiny snake, lion, eagle, and badger, and the Hogwarts motto. An exact replica of the tie in the picture. Merlin, she was good. And that was easy. No sweat.

Feeling much more confident now that she'd proven herself against the first menacing table, Ellie moved on.

Quote:
Station two is a stool upon which rests a pink Frisbee. The instruction sheet beneath it reads: make a watch.
When she saw what was sitting on the second table, her eyes brightened. A frisbee! They were going to play frisbee?! But as she read the instructions, she had to admit she became very disappointed. How could Kingsley trick her like that? Placing something fun in a room, only to have something boring done to it. What would someone want with a watch anyway? What could you do with a watch? Certainly not entertain yourself for an afternoon, that was for sure. SIGH.

Wand still in hand, her mind wandered to properties again. Think of the properties. Well, this was a frisbee. It was hard, plastic, solid, round, and pink. What did a watch look like? Well that depends... Ellie thought she'd try something different. After all, the instructions didn't specify what type of watch they transfigured the frisbee into. So, she began thinking of the properties of a pocket watch. Like the kind that rabbit used in that muggle movie?

A pocket watch had a chain. It was usually silver, or gold. Ellie would make hers silver. It was more macho, more suitable for a male professor. And they were flat, for the most part, with a large face. Some closed, but Ellie thought she was safer not to try that. She might have been able to make it read the correct time, but she wasn't about to fail her exam for having a fail door on her watch. Instead, she would creatively make Roman Numerals. Right. Ellie closed her eyes. So the watch was silver, flat, large white face, black roman numerals-one through twelve, a long, silver chain...oh! and that little thingy that you use to set the time on it.

She raised her wand and pointed it at the frisbee, closed her eyes, picturing the pocket watch she hoped to make one last time. As soon as her eyes opened, before the mental image left her mind, she moved her wand in three, tight circles and, once agian, ordered, "Horolos!" as her wand flicked.

There on the table, much to her liking, was the perfect little pocket watch. One corner of her mouth twitched into a smile. She mentally patted herself on the back before moving to the third table. She was proud of herself, but didn't want to mess up her chances of O-ing her exam because she had been careless on the other tasks, thinking she had it in the bag.

Quote:
Station three is a small table. On the table is a box with holes cut in it, containing a chicken; a small pail with chicken feed and some space to work. Under the table is another box with a stuffed chicken toy in it. First and second years may choose to use this toy, instead. All others must receive special permission BEFORE their final to do so. The instruction sheet reads: make a pillow.
Her head cocked and brows furrowed as she saw what was on top of the third table. A box? What would they possibly have to do with a box. Only when she noticed the feed in a pail did everything click. There were holes in the box. For breathing. For a chicken to breath. And the instructions pretty much confirmed her theory. Just as in their last lesson, they were going to transfigure the chicken into a pillow. Really, though?! She had only gotten the chicken to transfigure at the end of the lesson! Granted, she was doing the wand movement wrong for most of the time, but still! She began frantically looking around the room. Help? Someone? Please!

It was as she was doing this, that she spotted the box under the table. Bending down to look at it, she noticed that it had stuffed chickens in it. Thank Merlin! She reached into the box and pulled out a stuffed chicken. Before she placed it on the table, though, she stared at it a while, squeezing it. And thinking, 'You know what? I don't need this silly toy. I've done this in lessons. Once I had gotten the wand movement down, it was a breeze. I can do it.' She later thought that that was her mom in her head. It sounded just like her..she had always had that kind of attitude and all. Not that her dad didn't, it was just in her mom's voice. Don't know why...Things just happen like that sometimes.

She tossed the stuffed chicken back under the table. Phooey. And she reached her hand into the pail of chicken feed, placing a small pile on the table where the chickens head would be. Easy access, you know? And she opened up the box to see the chicken. Ugh, she shuddered. They still creeped her out. Taking a deep breath, she reached with both hands into the box, standing on tip-toe. People really needed to consider the shorter people in life.

She set the chicken on the table and it began pecking at the feed. Just like the one in class had. But it wasn't the same chicken, unfortunately. It might have been easier if it was, though. They already had some kind of connection. But then again, that chicken in class was stubborn. It didn't like to be transfigured and had tried it's best to avoid it. Maybe this chicken wouldn't? Hopefully not.

Once again, the girl closed her eyes and pictured a pillow in her mind and the process of the chicken turning into the pillow, what needed to happen. The head would vanish, along with the feet and beak. The wings would melt into the rest of the body. The feathers would disappear and be replaced by soft, pillow, fluffiness. Then she thought 'Swish THEN flick. Swish THEN flick.' Very important.

She opened her eyes and gasped that the chicken was staring right at her. And she felt bad for it. Poor chicken! "Aw, it's okay, little guy. No worries. This won't hurt. Do you trust me?" Of course it didn't answer. They had a staring contest for a few minutes. Ellie was trying to give it a most comforting and regretting look. As if to say 'Everything's going to be fine, but I don't have any other choice.' And it was giving Ellie a look that she could have sworn said 'You touch me, you die'.

This made her unsure of what to do for a while. She began wondering if she could get another chicken. But she kept her gaze on the one in front of her, and eventually it went back to pecking the feed off the table. Good. She slowly raised her hand and gave it a few strokes. This made it flutter it's wings a bit. But, in all, it didn't move.

Thinking this was a good thing, maybe it was beginning to trust her, Ellie closed her eyes once more. Swish. Flick. Swish. Flick. She was most concerned about mixing that part up again, obviously. Yet, she took a deep breath, and mustered up all her confidence, and her blue eyes flung open. "Pulvinus!" she said. Swishing and flicking her wand, and pointing it at the feeding animal. She GLARED at the chicken. Oh, it had BETTER change. After no time at all, thought Ellie had somehow gotten it into her head that it took several minutes, the chicken had vanished and in it's place stood a fluffy, round, white pillow. Awesome.

Ellie couldn't help but let out a small chuckle. She had over-thunk that. Definitely. (She really didn't. She probably would have failed if she hadn't done exactly what she did. But we'll let her think what she wants.) And she turned from the third table and walked to the fourth.

Quote:
The fourth table is a long table with three boxes taped out on the surface, and the numbers 1, 2 and 3 taped out in them. The sheet reads: lay out your items in the appropriate boxes and leave the testing area.
Her eyes widened when she read the paper on it. She was done! She survived her first Hogwarts exam! And she thought she'd performed very well. She layed her tie, watch, and pillow into the appropriate boxes and turned, heading for the door, pocketing her wand again.

It was time to treat herself to some ice cream. And she was gone.

Iris walked into the transfiguration classroom feeling quite confident about the final. She'd remembered everything from this term quite easily, so hopefully it wouldn't be too difficult. Still... there had to be SOME challenge to the final. Other wise it would be pointless.

She looked around at the four "areas" that were in the room, glancing at the table where there were clucking sounds coming from it. Ignoring that, she took out her wand and walked over to the first table and looked at the things that were on it.

Quote:
Station one is a regular desk. On it is a simple silver bracelet set on top of a picture. The picture if of the original item: a Hogwarts tie. The instruction sheet on the table reads: revert the bracelet to its original state.
Iris stood at the desk with her hands on her hips, staring at the objects on the desk, trying to figure out what she had to do. She spotted the instruction sheet and picked it up.

Ooooh... So, she had to change it back.

Seemed easy enough.

Iris picked up the bracelet. It was really pretty, even though it was very plain and ordinary. The bracelet was almost like the one she'd given to Mr Henry in first year. She concentrated on all of the properties and qualities of the bracelet, and made mental notes of them. Like how it was perfectly circular, and the shine of the metal and the thickness of the bracelet.

Then she looked at the picture of the school tie. Okay... So she'd be turning it back into a tie for a Lion. RAWR. Hehe. But seriously, focus Iris. YAY. Why couldn't it be a green tie? Hmpf. Looking at the picture, Iris took in the crimson and gold colours, and also the shape of the tie. How it would be more soft and moveable than a bracelet. Keeping focus on the bracelet, and imagining it slowely changing and morphing into the tie, She raised her wand.

Aiming her wand at the bracelet, she closed her eyes and kept the image of the bracelet changing into the tie there strong in her mind. Flourishing her wand ever so slightly, she said the spell "Reverto!" Being sure to put plenty of emphasis on the "toe".

Iris opened her eyes to find a gryffindor scarf sat chillin' on top of the photo. The Slytherin picked the tie up gingerly, as if scared that her own tie will tansfigure into one the same, and shook it. Just to make sure it had changed properly. As she shook it, the tie wiggled to and fro; just like how a tie should do.

After examining the tie, to make sure it was completely cotton and not silver and stuff, Iris put it around her neck - seriously hoping that she wouldn't suddenly become compelled to do something stupid that some people would see as extremely brave - and moved on to the next area of the final.

Quote:
Station two is a stool upon which rests a pink Frisbee. The instruction sheet beneath it reads: make a watch.
She walked up to the stool and looked at the object on it. A frisbee... It looked, relatively normal. Hopefully it was JUST a normal frisbee. Iris hadn't ever transfigured a fanged one before ...

Why did it have to be PINK? Pink was such an ugly colour. But a lot of girls LOVED it ... so maye the professor had done that on purpose, as a distraction. Well, it wouldn't distract her. Iris couldn't wait to get rid of the pink.

Okay. So the task was to make a watch. Trying not to remember how terrible her first 6 or so attempts at this spell were, Iris raised her wand and got to work on the frisbee.

Watches... Right.

Iris closed her eyes again and focused on the image of the frisbee on the stool. She imagined it slowly acquiring a face, with roman numerals around the edges. She imagined the hands growing from the middle of the frisbee, and then them beginning to move around the face. Then she imagined the ticking sound that would come with the moving hands.
When she had a steady ticking sound in her ears, Iris then pictured the Frisbee!watch become a white colour, with a silver edge around it. Iris then imagined it shrinking to a normal watch size. After that, she imagined a chain loop growing from the top of the watch, above the 12, and a long, thin silver chain growing from that.

Keeping this animation in her head, Iris raised her wand. As she said "Holoros!", she made three tight circle movements with her wand, and then added the little flick.

Iris opened her eyes slowly, hoping the technique Professor Kingsley had taught her to use had worked. She grinned happily as she saw that a shiny silver pocket watch had replaced the frisbee.

And there wasn't the slightest bit of pink left over.

Feeling very pleased with herself for how well it'd worked, She held the watch up close to her face, double checking that the pocket watch was working properly.

Then she put the watch into her pocket and moved over to the third area. The clucking wasn't very reassuring. Nope. Not at all.

Quote:
Station three is a small table. On the table is a box with holes cut in it, containing a chicken; a small pail with chicken feed and some space to work. Under the table is another box with a stuffed chicken toy in it. First and second years may choose to use this toy, instead. All others must receive special permission BEFORE their final to do so. The instruction sheet reads: make a pillow.
The chicken to a pillow. Whoopydoo. Iris really didn't enjoy this one in class at all. And it didn't help that she was ever so slightly terrified of chickens. She wasn't quite sure why she'd not gone and asked to use the toy chicken, anyway. Probably because part of her knew that wouldn't have been any challenge for her.

Iris put her wand on the table, figuring she'd need both hands for this. Then she got the chicken food and scattered out a little path from the box to the space on the table, where she put a lot of the food. Then she went to open the box. Inside the box, was the scrawniest chicken she'd ever seen. There was NO WAY there would be enough feathers on him to make a pillow.

Before she ever attempted to pick the bird up, Iris poured some chicked feed in her hand, and lowered her hand into the box; tipping the feed into the box, to get the trust of the chicken.

Iris picked up a slightly bewildered looking UNDERFED chicken, and placed him outside the box, where the big pile of feed was. She figured it was pointless luring him to the middle of the table because he'd quite happily let Iris lift him out of the box. While the chicken sniffed at the seeds and began to eat them, Iris picked up her wand again and got ready to turn Mr. Skinny Chicken into a nice big fluffy pillow.

She quickly went over the wand movements again, even though it was a simple swish and flick, the whole "potential animal cruelty idea" tried to plant itself in her mind. "Pulvinus!" She said, as she swished and flicked her wand towards the chicken. With a pathetic squawk, the chicken POOF'D into a feather pillow.

Clearly Iris wasn't concentrating enough though, because when Iris went to pick the pillow up again, it begun to cluck angrily at her.

O____O...

It sounded VERY angry, too.

Iris COULD just "reverto" it, and try again... but she didn't know if there was enough chicken feed left to calm the confused chicken. She decided to risk it. A couple of chicken bites would be worth it if she got a better mark.

She cleared her throat, and then repeated the first spell she'd done. "Reverto!" The chicken sat, fully in it's original form, looking extremely irritated with Iris. The girl quickly deposited some feed at the chicken's feet, and then set out on doing the transfiguration PROPERLY.

Iris focused on the chicken turning into a pillow that would be so fluffy and SILENT that even Dumbledore would have wanted to use it for a nap. She then raised her wand again. Swish aaaaaand FLICK! "Pulvinus!" Iris watched as the Chicken poof'd once more.

At least this time she did it properly. The pillow didn't cluck. It had a lovely polka dot pattern to the pillowcase though. Hehe.

Picking the pillow up, she squished it against her, to ensure it didn't squawk in protest. When it didn't, Iris pocketed her wand and carried the pillow over to the next table.

Quote:
The fourth table is a long table with three boxes taped out on the surface, and the numbers 1, 2 and 3 taped out in them. The sheet reads: lay out your items in the appropriate boxes and leave the testing area.
She looked at the three boxes, and then took off the tie from around her neck. All of a sudden, she felt normal again. AHA! Maybe it was the tie that made her struggle with the chicken. Silly Lions. Iris dropped the Gryffindor tie in the first box, and then moved to the second box.

The pocket watch was still sat inside her pocket, weighing it down considerably. Iris took it out and examined her work once more, fore depositing that in the second box.

Then, she picked up the polka dot pillow off the floor, and dropped it into the last box. There. She'd finished it. Iris was done with the practical bit of the Transfiguration Final.

Wow, relief much?

Iris took one last look at the boxes, and then left the room, feeling quite happy with herself.

Jimbo will set his turtle loose on you. { The Farley } "That's trademarked, don't use it."

Alright. He could do this. He had to do this. He could do it well, though. He's good at practical exams...sorta. Well, he has to be, failing isn't an option. Did they only get one try for these things? He wasn't sure. Probably, though. He'd have to get everything the first time, then.

Sighing, Jimbo held his wand tightly and walked over to the first station.

He read the instructions and looked at the picture. Alright. So, Hogwarts tie. Silver bracelet into Hogwarts tie. Easy, right? Right. He is good at this stuff, and besides this spell was like second nature to him, so really, he should get this on the first try. He was just overthinking it and getting himself all worked up and nervous. Calm down, Jimbo.

He lifted his wand and pointed it at the bracelet.
"Reverto!"
He said it clearly, making sure to pronounce it the way the Professor taught them. Rever-TOE, not Re-VER-to. He had the proper wand movement...well, proper wand flourish. He had that. He did it right. He had the mental image of the tie as well as the actual image in front of him, so really, he couldn't fail. But he was still a little nervous when he looked down at the end result.

He got it! There it was before him, the Hogwarts tie in the picture. Not that there was any doubt. Of course he got it right. He had a 100% accuracy rate with that spell by now. He never failed. Why was he so nervous in the first place? He wanted to jump in joy, but he reminded himself that he still had more to do. He picked up the tie and moved on to the second table.

Okay, instructions. Make a watch. Hm. He could do that. He gathered some confidence after that first part of the exam. And so what if he practiced doing clocks more than he did watches? He could do this. It's his second best subject. Right. Well, focus.
Okay, so a frisbee is completely different from a watch. Nothing like the muggle lock they used in the first lesson. Hm. Well, he'd practiced, hasn't he? He could do this easily.
But he had to focus a lot more with this. Reverting something to it's original state was so much easier for Jimbo than these newer spells. His parents had taught him the Reversion spell when he was really young, so it was really easy by now. But this newer stuff took a lot more concentration for him.

So, focus. Focus on the differences, no, the similarities between a frisbee and a watch. Well, they're both round. And if he makes a pink watch, they're both pink. But that's all he had to work with. That was fine. He could do it. He produced a mental image of a pink watch with proper working hands and a non-pink strap, because that's the only way he could picture it. It made it easier that way, since the frisbee is only a pink circle, the watch will have only a pink circle.

He lifted his wand and pointed it at the frisbee. Three tight circles to the right and FLICK! "Horolos!"

Alright. A watch. Sweet. See, he could do this. He picked up the watch and inspected it. Oh. Wait. Some of the numbers were missing. Okay, MOST of the numbers were missing. He looked at it some more then smiled. This could pass as intentional. There was the triangle-y thing where the number twelve should be, if he just...

He pointed his wand at the watch and tried to add something. Hm. No. Didn't work. Well, this would work. It actually looked pretty nice. He liked it, and even though he could change it, he didn't want to. It was nice, and it was a watch and it WORKED. The hands were moving and everything. He smiled and moved on to the next station.

Okay. Easy enough. This exam is quite the breeze, isn't it?
Oh, shoot. Spoke too soon. Angry chicken. Terrible noises. Doesn't seem to like Jimbo much, does he? Alright. Object #1: Calm down the chicken.

Jimbo took a handful of chicken feed and tried to approach the chicken.
Nope, nope. Not working. Still angry.
Soothing words?
"It's okay, chickendude. Calm down. I'm not going to hurt you. Everything will be fine. You will continue to be fluffy. Don't worry. Your fluff will not be taken from you." Well...it was the only thing he could promise. What else was he supposed to say?
No change in the chicken. Jimbo tried for the food again. "Want some food? Huh? Chicken food for the chickendude? Oh, haha, That rhymes."
Hmm. Chicken seemed to be calming down. It was heading for the food in Jimbo's hand. He got closer to the chicken carefully, praying it wouldn't eat his hand off.

Chicken was being good. Eating from Jimbo's hand. No eating OF Jimbo's hand. Good, good. With his right hand feeding the distracted chicken, Jimbo put down the items in his left hand and retrieved his wand from where he'd dropped it when the chicken scared him. All the while, he made sure he didn't move the hand which was feeding the chicken. Pointing the wand at the chicken he focused on turning it into a fluffy pillow. It had to be fluffy. He promised the chicken. He pictured the fluffy pillow and then pictured the fluffy chicken turning into that fluffy pillow. No beak, nothing, just fluff and pillow-ness.

Swish and FLICK! "Pulvinus!"
Fluffy chicken currently replaced with a fluffy pillow. Jimbo wins. Chicken loses. Well, not entirely, he supposed. The chicken kept it's fluff. The pillow really was similar to the chicken. He did a good job.

Jimbo dropped the chicken feed and wiped his hand on his robes. He picked up his three items - with special apologies to the pillow - and went over to the fourth station.

Taking a deep breath, Jimbo put away his wand and grabbed his items. He inspected them one last time and then put them in their respective boxes. Well. There was no turning back now. He was done, though. That's one exam off his hands. And for doing his best and doing well, he would reward himself. Cupcakes. He would have cupcakes. He would head down to the kitchens and get himself some cupcakes and he will savour them even more because it meant that he was finished with the practical part of the Transfiguration exam.

Maybe he would get Monty to join him? If she wasn't busy. Hm. Maybe.
Jimbo smiled to himself and left the room feeling elated and looking forward to the yummy cupcakes.

Selena walked into the exam room quite nervous, but she was pretty sure she'd do alright. She took a deep breath. 'Relax,' she told herself in her mind and she walked over to the first station. Okay. Ready or not...

Station one is a regular desk. On it is a simple silver bracelet set on top of a picture. The picture if of the original item: a Hogwarts tie. The instruction sheet on the table reads: revert the bracelet to its original state.
She looked at the silver bracelet and tried to recall what they had learned in class. The spell... it was 'reverto'. Taking out her wand, she remembered one of the most important parts was to know what you were transfiguring it into, to have a good image of it in your mind. She thought about the way the Hogwarts tie looked, the way it felt, just like the image. She did a light flourish of her wand, "Reverto," she said clearly, putting an extra emphasis on the "toe" part of the spell.

And when she looked at it, it matched the image perfect. She smiled and touched it, to make sure it wasn't made of silver or something like that. And it was soft, like cotton and she knew she did the spell correctly. Selena then moved onto the next station, hoping it was as easy as this one.

Quote:
Station two is a stool upon which rests a pink Frisbee. The instruction sheet beneath it reads: make a watch.
Selena looked at the pink Frisbee. It was pink... She shook her head, disregarding the color. What mattered right now was that she completed the exam. Pink watch. Alright, it wasn't too hard... hopefully. She recalled the incantation and the movements and looked at the bright pink Frisbee. Selena did three tight clockwise turns around the object, then a smooth flick right after it as she said, "Horolos."

The Frisbee became the watch she had imagined in her mind. A pink watch, but it was a pretty pink watch. It was silver with a T-bar fastening so it looked a bit more like a bracelet. She smiled and moved onto the next station, quite happy that it was going pretty smoothly right now.

Selena looked at the chicken there and winced. Oh, it was the pillow thingy. Selena wasn't very good at this and she hoped that she was able to make a decent pillow. She sighed and picked up the chicken. She set it down carefully, slightly glaring at it. If it pecked at her, she was sending it down to the Kitchens. Then she was going to be having chicken for her next meal.

The chicken was surprisingly calm. Perhaps she knew that if she did something out of line she was going to become fried? And then Selena would have a new pillow as well. "Pulvinus," she said as she did a swish and flick movement while imagining a pretty green pillow. When she looked at it, there was the pillow. She poked it to make sure it didn't cluck or something equally as ridiculous. Ooo... it was soft. She hugged it and then went to the fourth and last table with her transfigured items.

Quote:

She looked at it and smiled. The end of the exam... at last. She placed the tie in the first box, the watch in the second and huggled the pillow one last time before dropping it into the third. She wanted to keep the pillow. But she couldn't wait to leave the testing area. SHE WAS DONE. Selena grinned and left the classroom, 100% satisfied with her results.

As soon as he got into the Transfiguration Classroom, Fletcher rolled up his robe sleeves and shook out his wand hand. Oh yeah. He was about to get down to bizness on his favorite final.

Maybe they'd get to transfigure some #cupcakes? One could only hope. Then the boy read the instructions and saw the four stations and no chairs.

Hmmmkaaaay.

Fletcher strolled over to the first table and read the directions there.

Aiiight, I got this, the boy thought confidently. He picked up the bracelet and inspected it carefully, noting the weight, silver color, and dimensions of the clearly girly bracelet. He compared it to the picture of the green Hogwarts tie, obviously belonging to a lazily-dressed Slytherin.

Wondering briefly how much the bracelet was worth if he were to.... sell it.... on the sly, Fletcher placed both the bracelet and the photo back on the table and readied his wand. He had a clear image of the tie in his mind (since he did have a good friend in Slytherin) and knew the spell.

"ReverTO," the boy ordered, placing extra emphasis on the "toe" of the spell and flicking his wand at the bracelet as he imagined the Slytherin tie. Boom, like magic, the tie was neatly rolled in the exact spot the bracelet had been. Step one down! Fletcher picked up the tie and kept it rolled as he slipped it into his pocket.

Aww yeah, watch making! Fletcher was all over this. He had mastered the spell in the lesson AND he was pretty sure he'd impressed Rae when he did it for her too.

Imagining the sight and sound of a fancy old-style Muggle pocket watch in place of the Frisbee on the stool, Fletcher quickly moved his wand in three tight, clockwise circles and finished with a flick at the end, saying, "HOROLOS!" as he finished the flick. The boy was careful to pronounce it as Hor-eh-los though. Yeah didn't want to be messing up that one!

Perfect! There sat a nice little watch with a cover and a chain. Fletcher popped it open to make sure it worked and even checked the watch's time against his own cheap wristwatch. Yep, right on schedule, and what a beauty. He whistled to himself and put the watch in his empty pocket to move on to Station Three.

Well it was rather obvious that the third task involved chickens, as Fletcher clearly heard clucking as he approached the table. They were supposed to make a pillow out of this bird? Wot?

The boy leaned down and peeked through one hole in the box, trying to see what the chicken looked like. Oooh it was brown. Would that make a brown pillow? And would it still be soft?

Hmm. Nevertheless, he knew this spell too. It might be best to calm the chicken a bit before attempting to pillow-fy it though, since the clucking was starting to get on Fletcher's nerves.

The boy scooped up a handful of feed and attempted to pour it through the few holes in the box without getting plucked. Once he had been successful and the bird was preoccupied with the food, Fletcher stood up properly and readied his wand.

"Pulvinus!" he commanded with a swish and a flick, and instead of the boxed chicken there now sat a chicken-leg pillow surrounded by some feed.

"Heh," Fletcher chuckled to himself as he picked up the pillow and squished it with his hand. Cool, it was soft!

Well that was that! And here was the end of the final. Fletcher carefully pulled out his tie and dropped it into box number one. Then the watch went into box number two and lastly, the chicken-leg pillow fell into number three.

Bada boom, bada bing, Fletcher was pretty confident he'd at least passed one class this term.

Marie walked into the Transfiguration final feeling pretty confident in herself. Transfiguration had come pretty easily to her this term so she wasn't worried about the final at all.

Looking around she seen the four different work stations. So it looks like there will be four tasks to complete. She could do this, no problem.

Taking a deep breath she walked over to the first station.

On the desk she sees a silver bracelet, a picture of a tie and instructions. Reading the instructions she smiles. This would be something she could easily do. She looked down at her own silver bracelet and thought about how it had been in the form of a clock when Carter gave it to her. She had to transform that back into the bracelet she now wears every day.

Picking up the bracelet she closes her eyes and pictures the tie in her mind. She knows that the key to being successful with any transfiguration is to concentrate on what you are transfiguring. With that in mind she pictures the bracelet turning back into the tie in the picture. She repeats the incantation over a couple of times in her head and pictures the wand movement.

She put the bracelet back on the desk, unholstered her wand and took a deep breath. This was it, it was time to see if she really remembered what she had learned this term. Pointing her wand at the bracelet she closed her eyes, pictured the tie and said "REVERTO!" (with an emphasis on 'TOE') as she gave her wand a light flourish. Slowly she opened her eyes and...

YES!

She did it! There on the table was a perfect looking Slytherin Tie (and yes, she still had hers on).

Picking up the tie she hung it around her neck, reholstered her wand then went on to the next station.

So now to turn this pink frisbee into a watch. She picked up the frisbee and instantly started thinking about the frisbee Carter brought to the CoMC nursery for them to play with Kali and Frankie.

Getting her mind back to the task at hand she thought about the watch transfiguations she had done before. First she changed the lock in class, then there was the snitch she gave to Carter that she changed into a clock, then she changed a keychain into a watch. Yeah, this frisbee should be pretty easy for her to change. She studied the frisbee a little while thinking about what this watch was going to look like. It would probably have some sort of pink in it somewhere, she just wasn't sure where.

Closing her eyes she repeated the incantation 'Horolos' and visualized the wand movenents, three tight clock-wise circles and a flick. After doing this a few times she felt ready for the real task. Setting the frisbee back on the stool she took a step back, took a deep breath and unholstered her wand. "HOROLOS!" she said as she moved her wand in three tight clock-wise circles and gave a flick at the end.

Oh yeah, she was on a roll today. She picked up the silver and pink watch that was laying there and looked it over. Everything seemed to be in working condition so she must have done it right.

Phew!

Halfway there, only two more stations to go.

After reholstering her wand she put the watch on then went to the next station.

Marie did not like the looks of this station. From the looks of that box with the holes in it she knew there had to be something alive in it. And seeing the pail with the chicken feed in it she just KNEW there was going to be a chicken in that box. Not to mentioin the instructions said to make a pillow.

Slowly opening the box she was glad to see it wasn't that same ugly chicken from class. Instead it was this ugly chicken. Well of course she got another ugly chicken.

Grabbing a handful of the feed she put it in the box. Hopefully the thing was hungry and would be distracted by the food, that way he wouldn't even know what hit him when she pulverized pulvinused him.

While the chicken was busy eating she unholstered her wand and mentally practiced the incantation and wand movement. She closed her eyes and pictured a fluffy, fuzzy pillow. 'Pulvinus,' she thought while picturing her wand doing a swish and a flick movement. This should be farily easy she thought, after all is was the most recent transfiguration they had learned.

After putting a handful of the feed on the table she carefully reached in the box and grabbed the chicken. It started to flap around just a little as she set it on the table but quickly stopped when he seen the food... The food in the pail that is. Not even bothering with the handful of feed on the table, the thing went straight for the pail and started to eat out of that.

With the thing totally distracted she pointed her wand at it. "PULVINUS!" she said while giving her wand a swish and then a flick. Instantly the once live chicken was trasfigured into a pillow that looked like... a rooster standing there. Well that's not exactly what she had pictured in her mind.

Picking up the pillow she poked at it making sure there were no live parts still showing, you know since it looked like a rooster... only green. Satisfied that it was a pillow only she tucked it under her arm, cleaned up the feed on the table then reholstered her wand.

Time to go to the last station... Finally.

Stepping up to the fourth and final table she seen the three boxes and thought she was going to have to perform three more tasks. Then she seen the note.

YES!

She was finished with this final. She put the chicken in the box with the 3 taped on it, then took the Slytherin tie off (the extra one she had on that was NOT her own) and put it in the box with the 1 taped on it. She then stepped over to the box with the 2 on it and put the silver and pink watch in it.

Happy that this was one final out of the way she left the testing area.

Time to go get some lunch.

Was he nervous?

A little.

Xylon took a moment to take in his surroundings. Four stations, no chairs. It was a setting that radiated a very Professor Kingston-like aura ---- calm, peaceful, brisk and somehow patient.

Xylon didn't think he was going to fail. Or get a bad grade. He was sure he could scrape by with an E. Maybe he ought to have studied harder and aimed for an O. But his grades were always most Es and he had made his peace with that quite a few years ago.

So here he was, as ready as he would ever be.

Station one is a regular desk. On it is a simple silver bracelet set on top of a picture. The picture if of the original item: a Hogwarts tie. The instruction sheet on the table reads: revert the bracelet to its original state.
The instruction sheet was the first thing Xylon looked for. He noticed it even before he properly noticed the picture and the item atop it, simply because that was what he had been on the lookout for.

Rule # 1: When you head into battle look for the obvious signs first!

Err final examination. Not battle.

Once he had read the instructions he let his gaze land on to the other two items. One was a picture, the other a bracelet as indicated by the words written on the sheet. Removing the bracelet he looked down at the picture. It was that of a Hogwarts tie.

This was going to be easy. In fact it had to be easy. Because it would be a shame if Xylon, who would actually be done with his elementary magical study in a few weeks, couldn't revert a simple item. Something back into its original form. It would have meant he didn't know the most basic of transfiguration.

Untransfiguration to be exact.

He held up the bracelet. It was light, nearly six centimetres in radius. Not exactly circular of course. A little on the elliptical side. The tie would be different in a lot of ways. It would not be much heavier but it would occupy more space. It was going to be a lot 'smoother' too.

"Reverto."

He flourished his wand as he emphasized the last syllable, the 'toe' part.

There it was. A Hogwarts tie in place of the bracelet.

Station two is a stool upon which rests a pink Frisbee. The instruction sheet beneath it reads: make a watch.
Make a watch. How funny! Wouldn't 'turn into a watch' have been a better way of phrasing that sentence?

But he was here to pass a final, not to make judgments.

Xylon picked up the Frisbee. Pink. What a ------ ladylike colour. He almost smirked at that thought. Ladylike?!! Feminine was more the word. Of course it had to be admitted that Xylon had no problem with pink. He was one of those guys who actually don't believe that certain colours should be restricted to one of the two genders.

But ever since his arrival at Hogwarts at the beginning of this term he had begun to realize just how crazy the girls here were for it.

"Horolos." Three tight circles and a final flick. The muggle sports item was now a watch. It was an elegant silver one, its dial huge and blue behind the circular glass, its needles quaint with a certain touch of metallic lustre to them. Xylon half smiled when he realized they were ticking.

Maybe he should set the watch's time.

Or maybe not. He had a final to complete after all. He glanced down at his own wristwatch before picking up the one that had originally been a Frisbee.

Make a pillow.

Make a pillow.

Xylon knew what this meant at once. His mind instantly went to the runaway chicken!pillow and the corners of his mouth turned up very very slightly into the shadow of a rare smile.

Though hopefully this wouldn't be another case of a chicken dashing off, and him dashing off after him or her or it.

It?

Xylon shifted the pail to a side as he let the chicken out. It was big --- much bigger than he had expected it to be -- but it looked surprisingly docile. Docile. Hmm. Xylon was fully aware however how deceptive appearances could be. He wasn't going to take any chances today.

"Hey," he said, his tones light as he placed some feed in front of the chicken. The chicken, soothed by the calm voice decided he might give the feed a little peck. It obviously liked the taste of it because it gave the feed another peck. "Go on, it's all yours."

Encouraged, the chicken had soon let down its guard and allowed itself --- yes, itself. Because Xylon had no idea if it was a he or she --- to enjoy the feed to its heart's content.

Of course the moment Xylon was aware that the chicken had started to trust the presence that was he himself, he struck.

"Pulvinus." The simple swish and flick of his wand as he imagined the transformation --- a sudden absence of animation. The feathers into pillow feathers. The total lack of a beak (that was a must, must, must!!) and limbs. Within moments the poor chicken was no more.

In its place was a fluffy white pillow with a simple design of intertwined red and green stars in the middle.

Quote:
The fourth table is a long table with three boxes taped out on the surface, and the numbers 1, 2 and 3 taped out in them. The sheet reads: lay out your items in the appropriate boxes and leave the testing area.
Moving on to the next station Xylon was quick to notice the absence of any real items here. Unless they had to work with the boxes. He picked up the instruction sheet and read it.

He was done?

Seriously?!

Grinning, he began to lower the items into their appropriate boxes. The first box received a Hogwarts tie, smooth, striped and thankfully clean. The second saw an elegant, silver and blue watch being settled at its bottom and the third was soon full of a big fluffy white pillow, with a red and green motif in the middle.

Having laid out all three objects, Xylon made sure everything was in order, cleared up the mess the chicken feed had created on and below its station and wordlessly left the testing area.

Man!!

Sleep called now!

Vashti was SO ready for this final. She had studied and practiced her heart, so surely she was going to pass... Right? Merlin, she really hoped so. She'd die of shame if she ever failed a class. That would just be absolutely, positively...

But let's not think about that right now. Happy thoughts! That was what she needed to focus on! Happy, happy, happy thoughts!

First Station. Ooo, what a pretty bracelet! And it was originally a Hogwarts tie? Wow, who knew Hogwarts ties could become such pretty bracelets! It seemed almost a shame to change it back...but she'd just have to get over it if she wanted to pass this final.

...

Alright, she was over it. Moving on.

So. She had to revert the bracelet into a tie. So the spell she needed was Reverto. That was easy to remember. Now...what was that wand movement...

Starts with an "F"...flo...flour...flourish! That's it! Great! So now she had the incantation and wand movement. All she needed now was to concentrate. Really, really concentrate. She couldn't mess this up. She couldn't let herself fail. Not on the first station, not at all.

Just focus on it changing back, she told herself. Don't think about anything else. Not the rest of the exam, not about failing, not any other exam...FOCUS.

Focus... Focus... Vashti closed her eyes and took a few deep, calming breaths to relax her mind, thinking only of the bracelet being transfigured back into its original form by her. No one else. It was just her and her wand. She could do this, she believed she could. Just concentrate...

With a flourish of her wand and her eyes still closed so she could continue picturing the transfiguration occur, Vashti calmly cast the spell. "Reverto." And she waited, still picturing it in her mind, willing it to happen. She was almost afraid to open her eyes...because what if it hadn't worked? Well she'd have to find out sooner or later.

Slowly opening one eye, Vashti bit her lip, half-expecting to have failed...

...but she hadn't! There, where the silver bracelet had once been, was a Hogwarts tie, just like the picture. She did it! She'd succeeded! YAY!

She honestly wanted to jump up and down, she was so happy, but she controlled herself. She doubted it would help her grade at all, hurt it at worst. So instead she simply grinned and moved onto the next station.

Oh, the watch spell! Vashti remembered this one. It'd given her a lot of trouble in the beginning, but she'd practiced extra hard throughout the year. This, hopefully, would be pretty easy.

At least... Well, she hadn't exactly ever tried with a frisbee...but still, if she focused and concentrated hard enough and did the wand movement and said the spell correctly, she'd be fine.

Okay, first, the spell incantation. Horolos. Easy enough. Now...the wand movement was harder to remember. Something about clockwise...or was it counterclockwise? And how many times? And was there something else after it? Think, Vashti, THINK!

She shut her eyes tight for a few moments, trying hard to remember, picturing in her mind the paper she'd taken notes on for it. She could see where she'd underlined "wand movement"...now what had she written after it... Three clockwise circles and a flick at the end. Bingo! That was it! She was so glad she'd read over those notes so many times now.

Alright, so she had the incantation and wand movement once again; now she just needed to focus and do it correctly. Closing her eyes and taking several deep breaths again, she began picturing the frisbee becoming a watch. They were already the same shape - she would just have to add in a chain or band, numbers, and clock hands.

Three clockwise circles - flick - Horolos - frisbee becomes watch. Three clockwise circles - flick - Horolos - frisbee becomes watch. She repeated it over and over in her head until she finally could stand it no longer.

Her wand hand moved in three clockwise circles, she flicked her wand, and she said, "Horolos." Then she waited, still picturing it, still willing it to work properly. Frisbee into watch, frisbee watch, frisbee-watch, frisbeewatch...

Then she opened her eyes, both of them this time, and her face broke into a grin. The frisbee had indeed become a watch. The numbers looked a bit odd and yet kind of cool at the same time. Vashti kind of liked the wacky sizes. And it certainly looked like it worked. YES.

Two down, two successful. She again resisted the urge to jump up and down, instead moving on to the third station.

Oh Merlin. The chicken one. But now Vashti had to make a decision, a very crucial decision - should she try the stuffed chicken toy, which she'd actually managed to transfigure into a pillow, or should she try the live chicken, which she hadn't gotten to practice on in class? The toy would obviously be easy, and she'd be more likely to succeed with that one...but that made her look like a chicken, in her opinion. She didn't want to take the easy way out. If she never tried on a real chicken, how would she ever know if she actually could have done it?

Her mind was made up.

Scooping some chicken feed into her left hand and setting her wand down on the table, she used her now-free hand to open the box the chicken was in. She lowered her hand with the feed down to the chicken's level, hoping to get it to trust her before she picked it up. She really didn't fancy getting pecked to death - or pecked at all really.

The chicken just stared at her hand at first, probably trying to decide if it was beneficial for it to go near her hand. Vashti made sure she didn't move her hand or fingers; anything might scare the chicken away and make this even more difficult. Fortunately, after several more seconds and a few clucks, the chicken seemed to think it was fine to eat the feed from her hand, and it moved forward a pace or two and began pecking at the feed.

Perfect. Now if she could just reach in with her other hand...the chicken was still pecking at the feed...place her arm over the chicken's back and her hand on its belly...pick it up carefully...moving her hand with the feed within reach of its beak...then finally set it on the table and pour the feed from her hand onto the table. Just to be safe, she scooped out a little more feed, dropped it onto the other feed pile, and watched the chicken eat contentedly for a few moments before picking up her wand again.

Step one done. Step two: turn it into a pillow.

She could remember the incantation and wand movement easily - Pulvinus with a swish and a flick. Now to make sure she was concentrating even harder. She couldn't fail now. She'd already completed the other two successfully - she wouldn't let this station be the one that caused her to fail her final. No sir.

Close eyes. Deep breath. Imagine the chicken becoming a pillow. A complete pillow, not a chicken-shaped one, not a flying one, a pillow.

It was now or never.

Swish. Flick. "Pulvinus!"

She waited.

The pecking...seemed to have stopped. Unless the chicken was suddenly a silent eater, she let herself hope that she'd done it. Open your eyes in three...two...one...

Open.

The chicken was indeed gone. And in its place...was a pillow with a chicken picture on it.

Vashti was silent a moment, not sure whether to be thrilled that she'd succeeded or what. It was definitely a pillow, she was sure. Felt like a pillow, looked like a pillow, motionless like a pillow, silent like a pillow. There was just that picture. Was that going to count off her grade? She hoped it wouldn't...

But she decided to accept it. It was definitely a pillow, and pillows didn't always have to be plain white, did they? A person could have a chicken picture on their pillow if they really wanted to. And if it counted off, well...she'd just hoped it wouldn't be too much.

Moving on.

Oh. That was it? Boy, was she relieved! Those three stations alone were stressful enough - she had no idea how she would've survived any more. Thank Merlin.

She quickly placed each item into their appropriate boxes and, with another sigh of relief, left the classroom, ready to relax for a little while.

Emma step forward to the first table. She read the instructions. Okay, so turn the silver bracelet bake into a Hogwarts tie. She smiled, she could do this. She steadily held her wand in her hand. She looked at the picture of the Hogwarts tie, for a few seconds. Then she looked at the bracelet. It looked very familiar. She felt like she had seen it before.. somewhere... She took a deep breath and used the proper wand flourish while she said. "Reverto!" She smiled as the bracelet, turned into the Hogwarts tie. Perfect. Task 1; done. She went to the next table.

Emma reached Station 2. Huh, now she had to turn the pink frisbee into a watch. She had to turn it into pink... that would be okay. It wasn't exactly her favourite colour but it would look nice as a watch. She looked at the frisbee, then closed her eyes. She could see it in her head. She then imagined a dark pink watch with all different shades of pink on the face. She saw in her mind the new watch having a dark pink band, the face having a mixture of colours with light pink, a middle pink, an oangey pink, a redy pink, and a magenta pink. The hands and the small numbers would be black and the face of a watch would look like a stamp.

Emma opened her eyes. She took a deep breath and using her wand. She pointed at the pink frisbee, then she circled three times to the right and did a flick with her wand. She did this while she said (pronouncing it corerctly) "Horolos!". The pink frisbee turned into the square faced watch with black hands, small black numbers, and with a face of different shades of pink. It was awesome! Step 2; done! Emma placed the watch on the table and went to the next station.

Emma came to Station three. She read the instructions, so she she decided to choose the chicken, because she was pretty good at this, or at least she thought. She had to turn the chicken into a pillow. She put a handful of chicken food in her hand. "It's okay." she said to the chicken, as it approached her. Next thing she knew the chicken was eating the food out of her hand, once it was all gone. Emma took her and told the chicken. "Sorry." She picked the chicken up.
She quickly pictured the world's most comfiest pillow in the world. "Pulvinus!" she cried quickly, with a swish and a flick. The chicken turned into a pillow. Few, that was done. She went to the next table.

Emma walked up to the fourth desk. She grinned, this was the last part of her exam. She felt great! Nothing could go wrong.... right?
Oh it was just putting the items in the boxes... And then she was done?? Yipee!!
So Emma put the items in the boxes, in the correct order and then she cleaned up the table. She then took her bag and went out the door, ready to have a little break before the next exam. Ahh, she felt like she had done well on this exam!

Three whole words, Eight letters late(8)

Isla walked into the class room and over to the first station. She had never been so nervous in her life, hands were even shaking as she pulled out her wand. She read over the instructions and sighed. She had always had trouble with reverting objects but she had to try this was an Exam after all. She picked up the picture and studied it carefully, trying to memorize every detail.
She pointed her wand at the bracelet and thought only about every detail of the tie as she said "Reverto" and a tie appeared infront of her. Studying the tie she smiled, it was a good as she could of hope for. There were slight difference, one of the colours was a slightly different shade but at least it had not turned a completely different colour. She picked up the tie and moved to the next station.

When she reached the second station, which was a stood with a frisbee on it. She picked up the frisbee, her hands were shaking less now, and read the instructions. Make a watch. She had to really think on this one. She closed her eyes and tried to remember the lesson. Ah yes she remembered now. She pointed to the frisbee and imagined a lovely bronze pocket watch and said as clearly as she could "Horolos" while making three small circles then a flicking motion with her wand. I could have been better. She had imagine a bronze watch and this one was still the same pink as the frisbee had been. She sighed, there was nothing she could do now. She hoped that she would only lose some marks because she had made a perefectly good watch and that is what was asked of her. She picked up the tie and the pink watch and moved along to the next section.

At the third station the was a table which had a box and a small pail on it. She placed the tie and watch on the floor where she saw another box which had stuffed chicken toys in it. She decided that she would use the real chicken because she though this spell was one she could do easly. After taking the chicken out of the box she placed it next to the pail so it could feel comfortable and not in any distress. I pointed my wand at the now feeding chicken and with a swish and flick of her wand while saying "Pulvinus" the chicken turned into a pillow. The was a little less stuffing that she wanted but that didn't matter. Feeling significantly beeter than she did when she enter the room, Isla picked up the pillow, The watch and the tie and made her way to the fourth and final station.

This station was just a table with three boxes lable One, Two and Three. The instructions read lay out your items in the appropriate boxes and leave the testing area. Isla sighed in relief. I was finally over and i hadn't been as bad as she had expected. She took the tie and placed it in the box labled One. Then she took the pink pocket watch and placed it in the box labled Two. Finally, she tool the pillow and placed it in the box labled Three. She put her wand into her robes and double check that she had everything. The tie, The watch and The pillow. All there. After that she left the room, quite happy with the exam she had just done.

Arya nerviously fiddled with the sleeve of her robe as she entered the test room. Of all her finals, this class was one of the classes she had spent most of her time studying. Though she had gotten better at the spells, it still didn't help her nerves as she wasn't too consistant with a few.

Glancing around the room, she noticed that there were no chairs in the room. Just four stations with a few items on each. Taking a deep breath, she pulled out her wand, and twirled it between her fingers as she walked over to the first station.

Standing infront of the first station she stared at the silver braclet and the picture that it was set apon. After a short moment of just twirling her wand, she picked up the instruction sheet and read it once. Change the bracelet back to a hogwarts tie. Surely she could do that.

Arya exchanged the instruction sheet for the picture. It was a simple Hogwarts tie, nothing special. It wasn't house based like she thought it would be, but a simple black tie with the Hogwarts crest resting on the bottom. Arya examined every feature on the tie in the picture before placing it back on the table and picking up the bracelet.

The bracelet wasn't too flashy, something she would consider wearing if she wore jewlery on a daily basis. Arya ran her fingers over the item, tossed it around a bit and even twirled it on her wand. Realizing that she was having just a tad too much fun with the object, she placed it back on the table and began to focus. Closing her eyes she envisioned the bracelet turning into a Hogwarts tie. For another long moment she just pictured the Hogwarts tie in all its shining glory.

And now for the untransfiguration. Slowly twirling her wand she stared at the sliver bracelet, the image of the Hogwarts tie in her mind. With a light flourish of her wand she said, "Reverto" making sure to add emphasis on the "toe" in Reverto.

Without hesitation the silver bracelet began to untransfigure until it matched the black Hogwarts tie in the picture. Smiling softly at her handy work, doing mental backflips at her success, she picked up the Hogwarts tie and examined it. A black tie with the Hogwarts crest at the bottom, just like the picture.

Relaxing just a bit, now that one part of the exam had been complete, Arya slung the tie around her neck and tied it loosely. And now for the next task...

Arya walked over to the stool with her tie tied loosely around her neck, feeling a tad bit better about the final. Glancing at the pick frisbee, she picked up the instruction sheet and read it. Make a watch. Not as simple as the last task, but still dueable.

Picking up the frisbee, she couldn't help but think about the first time she atempted the spell in class. He had given her a frisbee then too, which only makes this task easier. Sticking her wand behind her ear, she began to study the features of the frisbee. Spinning it between both hands, running her fingers over the ridges of the frisbee. Placing the frisbee back on the stool, she plucked her wand out from behind her ear and twirled it while envisioning the gold pocket watch she wanted to transfigure it into.

Once she was ready, she aimed her wand at the pink frisbee. Moving her wand in three tight circles, she ended with a flick and spoke the incantation. "Horolos!" The frisbee took its sweet time changing into a watch, making her nervious. But after a moment, it had transfigured into a gold pocket watch. It was slightly more detailed than the watches she had done before, but it was off by a few minutes. Atleast she thought so...she didn't carry a watch with her so she couldn't check.

Frowning slightly, disappointed by this small factor, she examined the watch. Besides the fact that the time was off, the watch was working fine. Running it through her fingers for a moment, she slipped it in her robe pocket and walked over to the next task.

All feelings she had about the watch not being on time had vanished when she saw what sat at the next station. Chicken!! She thought she would never get to see the chickens again. Atleast not in the castle. Her muggle friends had some, but it wasn't the same as chickens in the castle.

Going to the box first, she opened it and carefully picked up the chicken that rested inside. The chicken clucked a bit before growing quiet and looking at his surroundings. "Wanna watch me transfigure the stuffed chicken, Bubba?" The young girl still hadn't transfigured a live animal and had not intentions of doing so. What if she had transfigured the creature? Oh the pain he would be in, she couldn't do that to Bubba.

Bubba clucked as she stroked him for a moment before placing him on the table. Scooping out some feed, she placed on the table beside her before Bubba had the chance to jump off the table and run around like a mad man. Now that the she had a friend beside her, kind of like when she had her kneazle there to watch her, Arya could concentrate on the next task.

Reaching under the table, she picked up the stuffed chicken as Bubba pecked at the chicken feed. Make a pillow, she already knew the task without having to read the instruction sheet. Squishing the chicken in her hands, she studdied its features. It looked just like Bubba, a simple brown chicken that hadn't been played with by some child like all good stuffed animals should be.

After sudying its features, she placed in back on the table, not to close to Bubba. Giving the chicken some more feed, she turned all her attention back to the stuffed one. What was the incantation again? Something that started with a P.....Pulvinus? Ah yes! That's the one. Twirling her wand, she kept her eyes on the stuffed creature before preforming the spell.

Giving her wand a small swish and flick she said, "Pulvinus!" The stuffed chicken didn't take as long to transform as the frisbee had, but it still took longer than the bracelet did untransfiguring. Picking up the ugly pillow, she examined the pillow before offering it to Bubba. "What do you think, Bubba?" The chicken looked up from his feed indifferently, pecked at the brown pillow and when realizing it wasn't food, went back to eating his feed. "I think its ugly too. But he didn't ask for a pretty pillow....did he?"

Arya tossed the pillow around as the chicken finished eating his feed. Once done, Arya picked up her feathered friend and gave him a few strokes. "Ya gotta go back into the box, Bubba." Giving him a few more strokes, she gingerly placed him back into the box and gave him a little more feed. Picking up the pillow, she stuffed it under her arm and walked over to the last station. Sparing her feathered friend one last glance.

She was gonna miss Bubba...

With all three items she made her way to the last station, not sure what to expect. Picking up the sheet she read it, a smile spreading across her face. She was finished!!

Giving the pillow a last squish, she placed it into the box with the number three. Then Arya reached into her robe pocket and pulled out the pocketwatch and glancing at it.....still off by a few minutes. She placed it into the boxed labled two and moved on to the last box but her first task.

Untiying the tie, she slipped it from around her neck and glanced at it also. She wouldn't have to wear anything labeled Hogwarts all summer. It saddened her a bit, she was gonna miss this place. Arya placed the tie into the last box and let her eyes wonder over all the object once more.

A wave of relief washed over her as she turned and skipped out of the room. Now time for a much needed ice cream break.

Torin did not like Transfiguration. He was not great at it, and he wasn't sure how good he would do in this Final. But he also wanted to try. Nothing wrong with trying really. Hopefully he would do okay, because it was the magic of this subject he got more than the theory.

He approached the first station, and read the instructions:

Quote:
Station one is a regular desk. On it is a simple silver bracelet set on top of a picture. The picture if of the original item: a Hogwarts tie. The instruction sheet on the table reads: revert the bracelet to its original state.
Reversion was pretty simple as far as Torin could remember. He had reverted objects before, and he knew the spell and wand movement. So he figured that he would have no trouble with this part of the practical.

He picked the bracelet up from on top of the picture, and started to inspect it, taking in the feel and appearance of it so he would have some idea of it's properties. Then he looked towards the picture of the Hogwarts tie.

The tie was different from the bracelet. It was soft and flexible, unlike a hard and circular bracelet. He took in all the differences between the bracelet and the tie, and then he started focusing his attention to imagining the bracelet breaking free from it's form and turning back into a tie. Closing his eyes, he then flicked his wand at the bracelet slowly in a sorta sweeping matter and muttered, "Reverto."

And there was then a tie in his hands instead of a bracelet.

And moving on to the next station:

Quote:
Station two is a stool upon which rests a pink Frisbee. The instruction sheet beneath it reads: make a watch.
So he had to turn a Frisbee into a watch. That was easy really. He remembered doing this with Brody. But then he decided that he didn't want to think about that right now after the fight that they had. He wasn't even talking to her right now.

Sighing, he cleared his head of thoughts about his girlfriend.

He was going to make his watch orange. Because orange was the best colour ever, and he didn't want to make a pink watch. Violet would freak out if he made a pink watch, going on again about how he should be a girl.

Anyways.

Raising his wand, he twirled it in three tight clockwise circles and gave a little flick at the end. "Horolos." He was imagining what his watch would look like while he muttered the spell.

And he had an orange watch. Success. He was amazing like that. hehe.

On to the next station:

Quote:
Station three is a small table. On the table is a box with holes cut in it, containing a chicken; a small pail with chicken feed and some space to work. Under the table is another box with a stuffed chicken toy in it. First and second years may choose to use this toy, instead. All others must receive special permission BEFORE their final to do so. The instruction sheet reads: make a pillow.
Great. He had to turn a chicken into a pillow.

Looking at the box with the holes, he frowned. He wasn't sure how good he was at this stuff. animal-to-object transformations... he wasn't really sure he was confident with them.

Taking the lid off of the box, he was startled when the chicken started hopping around and making loud noises. He didn't want the thing to jump out and start running around the room. That would make things more difficult for him. So he started trying to soothe the thing, talking to it in a soft and friendly manner. Not that he was sure that it made any difference. The thing was so loud, he was being drowned out.

Carefully reaching under the table and into the feel pail, he grabbed some food before holding it out for the chicken to eat. Then he started petting it gently as it began to eat. He was getting the chicken's trust and trying to make it feel more at ease.

And it was a rather nice chicken really. He wasn't too fond of the animals, but it was rather cute in a weird way.

Now it was time to work on the spell.

With a swish, flick, and point, he muttered, "Pulvinus." He had focused on the chicken turning into a pillow. The chicken to change from a soft creature with limbs to a nice soft object made of cloth.

And he had a pillow. A nice soft and fluffy white pillow.

On to the last station:

Quote:
The fourth table is a long table with three boxes taped out on the surface, and the numbers 1, 2 and 3 taped out in them. The sheet reads: lay out your items in the appropriate boxes and leave the testing area.
Right. Time to put the tie in the first box, the watch into the second, and the pillow into the third.

He placed each into the proper box and smiled, crossing his fingers that he did a good job and wouldn't fail his practical.

And then he walked out of the testing area.

Pam walked slowly into the classroom. She could feel butterflies in her stomach. Exams made her nervous, no matter how hard she had studied for them. She read the instructions given to her properly before heading towards the first station.

Quote:

Hmm,what's this? She had studied for this! This made her a little less nervous. She looked carefully at the picture of the Hogwarts tie and then observed the simple yet shiny silver bracelet. She looked for a little while more and kept the images of the items in her memory. She flourished her wand at the simple silver bracelet and said, "Reverto!" There. She had said it. Her heart was thumping fast and hard. Before she could recover from her state of shock, the bracelet had turned into a Hogwarts tie! She picked up the Hogwarts tie and it took awhile for the fact that she had succeeded to get to her mind. When her senses came back, she was so elated. However, that wasn't the end. She knew she still had two stations left to go.

Quote:

Pam thought that the pink Frisbee was rather cute. However, that wasn't the main point. She had an exam to finish. She closed her eyes and tried to recall whatever she had memorised. Lucky for her, her memory was pretty good. She took into account of what the pink frisbee looked like already, and she had an image of a watch in her mind. A rather pretty one. She focused and aimed her wand at the pink frisbee. She waved her wand in three clockwise circles, flicked her wand and said,"Horolos!" This time she wasn't so nervous anymore. A pink watch lay in place of the pink frisbee. It wasn't exactly what she wanted it to turn out to be but still, it looked alright. Just a little...unusual. At least it could tell the time. Or so she thought. It seemed to be working fine so she picked it up and decided to just move on.

Yikes. She had to make a pillow? She realised that she could choose between the chicken which was alive or the stuffed chicken toy. She decided to pick the stuffed chicken toy. She didn't want anything strange happening to the chicken which was alive. That would just be too cruel. Besides, she was only in her first year so she wasn't very good at it. She examined the stuffed chicken toy. It was soft and she wanted to cuddle it. But she probably shouldn't. She swished and flicked her wand at the stuffed chicken toy before saying,"Pulvinus!" The stuffed chicken toy turned into a fluffy pillow! It wasn't flawless or anything, but she was still happy with it. She picked up the pillow with delight and headed to the last table.

Yay! It was the end of the exam. Now she just had to lay out her items in the appropriate boxes then she could leave. She placed the items down carefully and heaved a sigh of relief. It was finally over! She double checked that she had placed her items in the correct boxes, and she left the testing area.

Carter walked in to the classroom. There were four desks and tables set up. He made his way to the first station.
Quote:

Okay. So he had to revert this silver bracelet back into a tie. He could do that. He had gotten a lot of practice doing it. He sat the bracelet down on the table and picked up the picture. He looked it over and examined every detail of the tie in that picture. He closed his eyes and the image of that tie flooded into his thoughts. Opening his eyes again he aimed his wand at the bracelet. " re-ver-TOE!" he exclaimed flourishing his wand. The bracelet transformed itself into a tie. Smiling he took the nice soft tie and headed off to station two.

Quote:
Station two is a stool upon which rests a pink Frisbee. The instruction sheet beneath it reads: make a watch.
Slinging the tie over his shoulder he read the instructions for the next task. He was going to have to transform the pink frisbee into a watch. He also felt pretty confident in his skills doing this. Since the Frisbee was already a circle he just had to imagine numbers and hands. And then since the Professor wanted a watch he also had to think about wrist straps. Thinking clearly of 12 numbers, 2 hands, and 2 wrist straps he aimed his wand at the frisbee. "Horolos!" he said moving his wand in 3 tight, clock-wise circles and adding a little flick at the end. The Frisbee grew numbers and two hands. It was changing into a watch! It also was growing straps on either side.

Carter's jaw dropped when he saw the results. He was looking at a GIANT watch. A giant watch with a face the same size as the pink frisbee. Whoops.

Hmm... the Professor didn't say that it had to be a human sized watch, did he? Maybe this was alright. It was a watch afterall. Shrugging he grabbed the frisbee!watch and headed to the next station.
Quote:

Carter heard the chicken before he even arrived at the table. He guessed he'd be turning it into a pillow... but just to make sure he read the card. Yup. He guessed right. He carefully removed the chicken and gave it a little pat. Imagining a nice soft pillow he gave his wand a swish and a flick and said "Pulvinus." As he was doing so a thought popped in his head. The thought involved how much he didn't want this pillow to turn out like the one he made in class. To his horror the same exact pillow appeared with a *pop*.

*cringe*

Taking the pillow with him he headed to the final station.

Quote:

Alright. He had to put things in the correct box. That was simple enough.

He placed the Hogwarts tie in the box labeled one.

He then placed the frisbee!watch in the second one. Or tried to anyway. The box was too small for his giant watch! Sighing at his mistake he took out his wand and used "engorgio" on the box. The box grew in size. He then placed the frisbee!watch into the now larger box number two.

He then moved to box number three. He put the super embarrassing chicken!pillow into that box.

Mission For-The-Most-Part accomplished. And with that he left the room to prepare for his next final.
