The Office of Professor Nolan Reynolds As soon as Nolan lets you into his office, you see that it is decorated exactly the way you would imagine a Divination professor's office to look. On the south wall there are numerous bookcases filled to the brim with books on Divination and it's many forms, although there are books on other subjects scattered across the shelves as well. There is a big cushy armchair facing you that is a faded shade of yellow--Nolan probably got it because it reminds him of his old house, Hufflepuff. On the desk, you see a few stacks of tarot cards scattered about, as well as a pretty crystal ball perched in the corner. Directly across from the giant yellow chair are two small grey armchairs...feel free to have a seat! OOC: In order to post in this thread, Nolan MUST have invited you in IC from the Waiting Area thread. If you have not posted there you will not be allowed in his office! |
As the Professor entered the office ahead of him, Chris took the few seconds of the man's back being turned to him, to examine the office and it's contents. Chris was impressed, he hadn't realized so many things could be crammed into the small office; most likely it wa helped by magic but still. The many books sparked the Gryffindor's liking aswell, it looked like this Professor had one thing in common with him, Books. He walked towards one of grey armchairs by the desk and before he sat down his eyes caught and stopped at the large, ornate Crystal Ball on the corner of the man's desk. "That's a very nice Crystal Ball Professor." he said his eyes stuck on it. |

"Thank you," he said with a smile as he sat down. "It's my oldest one and therefore, closest to my heart." Gah. Listen to him talk about it like it was his pet or something. "So, what can I help you with?" he asked. Hopefully it had something to do with that purple present he had. Hehe. |
:D Permission from Tegz! Quote:
"You are very welcome, it's very nice though." he said as a side note as the Head Boy sta in one of the chairs opposite the Divination Professor. "Well I'm sure you heard about the events that happened here last term, correct?" well he was sure most of the people outside of the school has heard about them at least. "Well you see Professor, one of the students involved and the one to be actually taken was..."this wasn't his place was it? "Celandine Touissaint." ..... Wait, did he even know who that was? "Oh she is the Head Girl this term, a Ravenclaw." he added quickly as if he was afraid of being cut-off. He then leaned up closer into his chair, the purple package almost forgotten, slipped behind his back. Chris scooted to the edge of his seat and then continued in an almost whisper. "Professor, I think there is something different about her." he swallowed hard. "Something to do with the subject you teach, I think. That's why I came to you." He looked a bit worried. "Professor I don't think it's anything wrong with her, she is one of my good friends, it's just as if she has something others don't, you know what I mean?" he said, knowing he probably didn't. But he couldn't underestimate the Divination Professor's views on different abilities. ....."Do you think you can possibly, you know, help slash teach her." The Head Boy finished sheepishly. He was going to have to give more detail wasn't he? |

Ok. Head Girl. He could remember that. The boy seemed to be implying that the girl had a certain ability...hmm. Like...HIS ability "If that is the case, Mr. Potter, I appreciate your concern and I will do my best to help Miss...Toussiant," that was what he had said, right? "Unfortunately, unless she comes to ME for ask for help, I'm not sure I can do much...I don't want to make her feel uncomfortable if I approach her in class about it," he said. It was just one of those confidentality things. He didn't want to have to explain to her HOW he suspected something. That would just cause trouble! |

Chris was hoping that, by the slight sign of recognition and excitement that he saw ever so slightly flutter through the Divination Professor; he would be agreed with and ready to help guide Cela with her sight. But he was let down, Professor Nolan said she would have to come and ask. "I understand Professor. Thanks anyway." Well that just meant that Chris needed to get her there and let her know what he suspects of her. She was a pretty close friend, and they were a team this term, she would tell him if she was or not, right? Oh well, that was lost for the time being. Chris sat back in his chair, feeling slightly defeated and felt somehting hard pressed against his lower back. Oh the Present! He had almost forgot about the purple package. "Oh Professor sorry about that, I had brought you this present to welcome you to the school and almost didn't give it to you because we were busy talking!" he chuckled. He held the package out before him and raised it closer to the man over the front of the desk. "Here you go, I hope you like it." he couldn't wait until he saw the cards. He had searched all over for those tarot cards with celestial bodies and stars on them. |
Quote:
"Oh, a present? How unexpected! Thank you," Nolan said with a smile, taking the box for him. He wondered if presents were common around this school...he carefully ripped open the package to find...tarot cards! And very pretty tarot cards at that. "Thank you very much, Mr. Potter...these are great, I always like to keep a deck around somewhere, just in case," he said with a chuckle, admiring the pretty star patterns on the back of the deck. |

He placed the cards on his desk next to his little desk calender and looked back at the Head Boy. "Is there anything else I can help you with?" he asked. |

"Um actually Professor that was all. Thanks soo much and I am very glad you liked your gift." he stood from his chair and then glanced again at the man, the tarot cards, and the crystal ball. "I can not wait for your firts lessob Professor Nolan. I hope you have a great day! I need to head on down to the Great hall for some lunch, I missed my breakfast this morning." he smiled patting his stumach with a chuckle and then left the office with a wave. |

"Take care," he said, waving as the boy left. As the door swung shut, he happened to catch a glimpse of another visitor outside. Another one?! He must be popular! He stood up and walked out of the office to invite his next guest inside. |
Simon walked into the office in tears, he tried to calm down a bit but he just couldn't he was so sad, he hoped that the Professor could help him, he had been in an arguement with his best mate and that's what had caused the problem in the Corridor and now she wasn't speaking to him and he was so upset about that. Simon looked around the office, to try and see what it was like, he liked it but he couldn't say anything through the tears, he was having a very bad day, he was homesick and now this what else was going to go wrong. |
Quote:
"Simon...what's wrong?" he asked, sitting across from him and looking at him in concern. "Are you upset over what happened by the kitchens?" |

"Let's see..." Where to begin? Nolan decided to go with the stuff he KNEW he had good answers to, "As for losing house points, remember that it's only three points--you can easily make that up by attending class and doing homework! In a few weeks, no one will even remember that incident. And it's always challenging coming into an environment where you have to be more independent when you're used to having someone help you, but I assure you, it WILL get easier being on your own," he said with a smile. Being a Hufflepuff himself, it irked him to know that someone was telling the first year that he wasn't supposed to be in that house. "The sorting hat put you in Hufflepuff for a reason. You're only in first year, and you need time to adjust and get used to your house. While you may not see why you were put there now, I'm sure you will in the future," he assured him with a nod. "Now, as for Amy, maybe she needs time to cool off before you approach her again. Perhaps if you waited a little longer to try and talk to her, you might have better results." Especially since this argument had apparently happened VERY recently. As for the secret...Nolan was not going to pry into that. It was Simon's business, and if he wanted to share that he could, but if not--Nolan wasn't going to be nosy. That wasn't his place. |

Simon then continued after wiping some of the tears of his face. "I just can't get used to it, I'm used to having someone around me all the time." He was used to having a bodyguard and his personal nanny with him all the time. "I normally have a bodyguard with me all the time and it was made me seem safe." Simon liked it when he did have one. "So you see it's hard to adjust to live here. Simon smiled at the Professor. "How do you know the sorting hat sorted me into the right house?" He suddenly asked, he was starting to wonder if he was in the right house or if he belonged into a different one. He looked again at the Professor. "Do you think she will forgive me at all?" He asked, "I'll wait awhile before I try and talk to her again." |
Quote:
"I can assure you, Simon, you're very safe here," he added. This was Hogwarts! It was the safest place on Earth, right? Erm...right. "Is there a reason you don't feel safe? If so, feel free to talk to any of us and we can try and help you," he said. "And as for the Sorting Hat--it doesn't make mistakes. You'll come to realize why you're in Hufflepuff in no time," he told him. "For example, the fact that you're so concerned about losing house points definitely shows loyalty! You're afraid of letting down your house, right? If you weren't a loyal Hufflepuff, maybe you'd feel differently." Not to say that other houses didn't care about points. He knew they did. "I'm sure if you just give her some time, she'll forgive you, or at least be opening to talking to you about what happened. If not, maybe suggest to her that you try and resolve it with a prefect or something? Sort of like a peer mediation session," he suggested. Nolan hated to see friends fighting over something that was probably a huge misunderstanding! |
Quote:
Simon smiled at the Professor. "I do care about Hufflepuff, it was just when this other Hufflepuff said it, I just had second thoughts because it was an older student and they are more wiser." Simon sighed, he was still wondering if he was in the right house. "I'll do what you suggest about Amy." Simon smiled at the Professor, he was still wondering what she thought about him telling her he was a prince. |
Quote:
"Regardless of who said it, I think the best thing for you to do is to try and not let it bother you. If YOU know deep down that you are loyal and a hard worker, you don't have to feel like you need to prove anything to anyone," he assured him. The older student in question couldn't see deep down in Simon's brain, right? Right! |
Quote:
Simon looked at the Professor. "I do believed deep down I belong in Hufflepuff, I love the House and I want to do my best." Simon smiled he knew that all the time deep down but the other student had just casted doubts on his judgement. "Professor what house was you in?" Simon was curious. |
Quote:
"So, is there anything else I can help you with?" he asked. |
Quote:
Simon smiled. "I am sure I'll have a great time and I'll have loads of fun." Simon hoped that it was the case anyway, he was scared that some of his years wouldn't be good but he was going to give it a good time. Simon looked at the Professor again because asking the question that was most on his mind. "Professor if I ever need to come see anyone for advice, can I come and see you?" He smiled. "I really think you give great advice." |
Quote:
Anyways, enough about him. "Of course you can! And I'm glad you think I give good advice," he told him. That had worried him. "If you ever need to stop by, just come on and knock if I'm in!" he said. "Now, do you mind if I cut our session short? I have a lot of people waiting outside, I believe," he said. He didn't really trust Lucky out there with all those people. Lucky + Violet did not equal GOOD in his mind. |
