Alone

Sapphyre walked into the Great Hall and sat down at the Slytherin House Table, smiling to herself as the wood felt smooth against her palm and the back of her knees as her skirt tucked under her bum as she sat. It was good to be here again, even if she couldn't see.

Kiera looked around and smiled. But that smile was nothing more than a fake. she hated big asemblies of people, and all her friends were no where to found...

But she did not want to wait around for them so she figured might as well sit at the house table and grab a yummy bite to eat. She heaved a sigh of relief, yes the number of people was low so perhaps she would get through these horrible events more easliy than she suspected. Still...maybe there was someone around she could talk to. With out Jasper and Lissa, most of her pent up and abuntant energy was beginning to leak out rapidly.

Phyre put her hand to the table, grabbing the wood firmly. With a deep breath, her magic filled her arm, her wrist, her fingertips... And then extened along the extremely long table in either direction. Slowly creeping along, she found nothing but wood and food - which looked mighty appetizing, as she hadn't seen food in quite some time. And then, finally, the extenstion branched onto a being. A girl nonetheless, sitting alone. The only other one at the table. Sapphyre wrinkled ehr nose curiously. Was it earlier than she had thought? But, nonetheless, she smiled in the direction of the girl, eyes hollow, as they always were these days. If she was to be here alone, blind, and currently friendless, then so be it. Her only friend in Slytherin had died over the summer, and she needed a new one...

Kiera then noticed the other girl sitting at their table. She seemed young, but hey being a fifth year and only five feet tall, she shouldnt be talking about that. So she smiled remembering what her friends advice on being nice and said "Hey there I'm Kiera Valkere. Nice to meet you Darlin" Kiera laughed at herself, oops the darling slipped out, as she was used to calling everyone that even if she didnt know them, boy or girl. She flipped her blonde hair once while waiting for the other girl to reply.

"Kiera?" Phyre asked as she heard the girl reply to her smile. "I'm Sapphyre Black, but people usually call me Phyre." She smiled as Kiera laughed, hoping that it wasn't at her. "It's nice to meet you, then. I like your name."

"Alright i think i'll call you Phyre also then!" Kiera smiled, she was glad to meet somebodyto talk to, she had feared this whole year she wouldnt know anybody at all beeesides her two friends from home Lissa and Jasper. "Haha thank you! i like your's to, sounds like your mom has a thing for shiny stuff then?"

"Expensive things, actually," Phyre replied. "You shouldn't even ask my father about that... It's a bit scary, how he rants on forever." She laughed weakly. "Shiny... I was named for my eyes." Which are now useless... "Why Kiera? I mean, it's a pretty name, but is there any meaning behind it?"

Kiera laughed, her mother was just like that. "I know the feeling, although both my parents love to spend money, so its really my uncles and aunts that have the long drawn out lectures." Kiera noticed the girl looked awfully sad, and hoped everything was alright. "I'm named after some relative my mother was close too, but apparently i look nothing like the woman. Short and blond instead of tall and brunette. Is somethng wrong?"

"Well, I can't say I very much look like a jewel, so it's fine," Phyre replied, laughing. "Something wrong..." She hesitated. "I just don't like talking about my eyes, I suppose."

" Oh im sorry..." Kiera hoped she didnt say anything wrong to Phrye "Do you have any brothers or sisters here? I dont have any siblings," Kiera sighed she wished she wasnt an only child. then maybe she might have had more fun at home.

"Oh, it's alright," Phyre replied, smiling just as happily as she had before. "I don't like to dwell on bad things, but sometimes I can't help by be bitter." She shook her head. "Nah, no siblings," she said. "Though, my cousin's a first year. She was sorted int Gryffindor. Pity, right?" Sapphyre didn't have anything against the Gryffindors, but it would be nice to have someone in her own House like her...

"I prefer just to get it all out their. I dont paticullarly like keeping things pent up because eventually you blow up. Althouh, some people find that to be rude. Whatever their opionins dont really matter to much to me." Kiera hated keeping secrets, in her eyes it was what caused all the problems in the world.

"Oh thats a Shame. I dont really like Gryffindors, but some are alright i suppose..." Kiera never got along with them, they just thought she had attitude issues. Sometimes sure. Not all the time though.

"Right," Phyre replied. "I just get upset about being blind. It's nothing all that horrible. I mean, there's nothing I can do about it. Your theory is nice, I think." She shrugged and played with her walking cane's head, the snake and fangs. "I don't much mind them, as some of my best friends here are Gryffindors, but the competition is unwelcomed and it means we can see each other less."

Selena walked into the great hall for some late breakfast. She sat down at the table and looked around. It was quite empty. Selena sighed. There were two girls who were already engaged in a conversation, she found it quite rude if she were to interrupt them. Selena took some waffles, covering it with chocolate sauce, and a goblet of pumpkin juice. She opened her notebook and her pen, and while she ate she wrote.

Saiyomi walked into the great hall and smiled and when she saw Selena. She walked over to her and sat down beside her, grabbing an apple and biting into it. "Good morning," she said happily. She was happier today, and it was noticeable, very noticeable.

Libriana looked at the empty Slytherin table and sat down to eat.

Selena looked up and wiped her mouth with a napkin. "Oh, good morning," Selena smiled, "you seem happier today," she said, "that's great, that's really great," Selena said as she slid the book away. 'It seems like this school is a bad place to keep secrets...' Selena thought to herself. "So, what are your plans for today?" Selena asked.

Etoile entered the Great hall, spotting Selena.
"There you are! I just signed up for the Quidditch team tryouts!" She said smiling. She slumped down in an empty seat opposite her friend.
"Yum, Waffles!" She exclamed, putting three waffles on her plate and covering it with chocolate. She spotted some whipped cream down the table. She took out her wand. "Accio Cream!" she shouted. The bowl of cream zoomed into her hand. She put her wand in her pocket and put cream on her waffle tower.
"Do you know if we have any classes today?" she asked Selena.

"Really? That's great!" Selena exclaimed, "too much chocolate is bad for you," Selena teased, "and whip cream too?" Selena smirked. "tsk tsk." Selena grinned. "As for classes... hmm... I'm not really sure..." Selena shrugged.

"At least I don't carry half of honeydukes with me at all times!" Etoile smiled.
"Not that I don't mind! It's great! If it wasn't for you I'd probably die of hunger before long!"

"Please! Don't exaggerate!" Selena laughed, "I only carry one-hundredth of Honeydukes," Selena smiled. "I don't think there's enough food here for you~" Selena joked.

"I would hate being blind, then I'd never get to watch clouds, but who knows maybe someday you'll get your sight back!" Kiera smiled hopeing Phrye didnt take anything she said badly, she couldnt imagnie what it would be like to be blind. She rellyed on her eyes so much living without them would be tragic.


"I love competition, but i suppose its not exactly great when making friends, but imagine after school and over summer it'd be easyier without the whole house points going on. " Kiera hated the points system, it made her feel bad whenever their house lost points...which it seemed was going to happen alot this year.

"Maybe," Phyre replied. "Miracles happen every once in a while, after all..." She smiled hopefully. "It's unnecessary trouble between Houses, but it makes everyore workd harder. So I guess it's an even trade-off, right? And people can still get along..."

Etoile glanced up and down the table, taking in all the food.
"Nope. There's not enough toast." She pointed at a big stack of toast. She took a piece and put butter on it.
"I just thank got I have a fast metabolisim, or I'd be so fat they'd have to widen the front doors so I could get into the school!"
She said and thrusting the toast into her mouth.
