"Buhh-b-bag lady!" Jake replied, still bounce-bounce-bouncing as he stared at the caaaaandeh jar, which had lifted his spirits almost straight away. Ohhhhh sweet sugar. "I'm fuhh-fine, thank you."

Errrm...

"Yuhh-you?"

After a little more silence, Jake bounced a little higher (stumbling a bit when the older girl left, brushing close to him, since he was in the door) and theeeen... "CANIHAVESOMESUGAR?!"

Hopefully nobody was here that could stop him from having any...

Oh.

Kaite was stupid. Katie was stupid. Katie was stuupid. He was NO LONGER acknowledging her. Nope that was a waste of his time. Nope, Katie was not important enough. The Gryffindor shuffled as far away as he could from the evil one.

PRETTY!!?!!?!??!

How in the world was he pretty! He was NOT a girl! Perhaps Lainey was insane. Perhaps she thought he was a girl.

No. Lainey was just insane. Hopefully it was the good type of insane though.

And she would not call him pretty again. "Thanks Professor." He said awkwardly.

"Well...actually my sister gave me the name but....yeah, I'm gonna be the most famous person in the world one day. You'll have the pleasure of saying 'HEY I taught him'" Now her calling him impressive made MUCH more sense. He was impressive. Duh. Annnd then she turned all loony again by doing a random kick. Alright he was out of here. "Yeah, so....nice meeting you Professor. I'll see you in class." And without another word he bolted out of the office. There was only so much time with a crazy lady AND Katie that he could take.

Katie's eyebrows raised, a slight look of puzzlement crossing her features. "I usually don't, but because it was my sister who told me about you.. I kinda trust her." the young girl nodded for emphasis, and then shrugged. She should probably explain, right? "She finished school right before I came, so she tried telling me a little bit about the Professors that might still have been around when I started first year. Just what they taught and stuff," of course, most of those Professors weren't around by the end of that summer.

Okay. So Legend was mad at her, that much she expected. It was not unusual. But leaving almost as soon as they came?

Katie shook her head, gazing at the spot the Gryffindor had left. In all truthfulness, she should have known better than dragging him along. She kind of did know better, and had pushed him to come with her anyway. Oh well.. more students were coming in and going out too.

"Cute baby," The Hufflepuff commented, noticing the photographs on the wall, behind the desk. Really cute, actually. She smiled softly.

Cedric tried not to chuckle but he couldn't really help himself so he burst out laughing... a bit. He kinda found it funny when Lainey saluted him and Ced was loving this capricious demeanour of Lainey already. She seemed... awesome!

He winced as Lainey said that he was 'eyeballing' her dinosaur. And then he eyed the must-be precious thing again. He liked it but she needn't worry for he wouldn't really steal it.

"May I have it, Sir? I mean.. Ma'am?" Craaap. Lame excuse. And he was worried that she might thought he was actually asking for it. "Er, I mean may I take a look at it?" Cedric thought he sounded like an idiot and deep within him, embarrassment was reigning.

Lainey held hand in front of her mouth and breathed into it, then took a DEEP sniff of her "breath." By the way those two had just bolted.... One had to wonder.

"Can I assume that Legendary Legend is going to check on Becca?" Probably. Becca was allllllll grown up now, she was probably bringing boys to the yard like cr-aaaaaaaa-zy.

Scary, but true. Lainey scratched at her lip and pondered this. Her breath smelled fine (green-peppermint-y, even), so.... something else was going on here.

Bag Lady. Heh... Lainey giggle!snorted. "Um. Yes.... Yes, I believe I am just fine now, thank you very much. You seem much better, too. I give us both O's for being much improved."

But Lainey so didn't want the bag back. Germs. And what if he needed it again? No. The bag was a gift.

As was the candy..... though, even as Lainey lowered the candy jar in Jake's direction, she had the strangest feeling she was making a mistake.....

hm...


"Ohhhhhhh. Well, in that case -....," Lainey's words were lost to the mumbles. Again, she knew, there was just no telling WHAT her sister had reported about Lainey.


She twirled the front of her robes and looked like she MIGHT say something, but each time thought better of it and just kept quiet. Well, until she mentioned BABY. "That's MINE!" It so was, too. "My Colby Jack. I birthed him."

In case that part was unclear...


Hmm. Lainey's dinosaur toy was setting fire to various papers on her desk, but really she wouldn't have traded it for anything. CJ had obviously slipped it into her lunch bag that morning... and well, CJ was Lainey's soft spot.

Unfortunately, so were students.

"You can look at it," Lainey instructed, cautiously, "but that's real fire. I don't do first aide, so do be careful, Cedric." And don't you dare run away with her dinosaur!

William knew he'd have to visit professor Lainey or else face the wrath of his cousin, not something he wanted to face thank you very much. She might threaten him with babysitting Sienna, or worse doing their laundry. Shuddering he stopped at the door peering in as he heard voices. Hmm seems she had a packed office. Aw well, he'd going in anyway and just... hang. Yeah hanging out was cool, right? And besides he might find someone he was looking for, though he doubted she would be here right now.

Knowing he should at least go back into his dorm and study for whatever class he had next he shook the thought off, too much studying caused him to loose out on sugar and he just couldn't have that. Not when he was in such a good mood. The letter from home was still clenched in his hand and he looked down at it before shoving it into his pocket before looking at his fingernails.

Putting his hands into his pockets, he slouched in, a sly grin on his young face as he leaned against the door frame nonchalantly. Bright green eyes took in the office and he nodded to himself; hadn't changed at all since the last time. Except for the pictures. Hmm. Lifting himself off of the door frame he took the few more steps into the room and took out the sugar quill that was in his mouth, tilting his head as he frowned. shaking the thought of bolting and never coming back William said "Room for one more?" in a teasing voice as he stuck the quill back in his mouth, moving it back and forth like one of those weird cow boy dudes he'd seen in a movie.

"If you were a Gryffindor, I'd have said no. But since you're not, come on in!!!" Lainey greeted and waved young Mr. Ravenclaw on in. He had that "man on a mission" sort of look in his eyes.


"Sup? Speak your busines, my young man." Lainey chomped down loudly on what was left of her peppermint and chewed on it for a while. Hmm. She'd need a toothpick later.

"Wwwell, that's one O I'll guhh-get in my lllifetime," Jake grinned, his eyes aaaaaalways on the candy, following the jar's slow progress through the room as though he was some kind of Huffie lion stalking a candy gazzelle.

Mmmm... candy gazzelle...

"Thankya!" the boy beamed, thrusting his hand straight into the candy jar and grabbing a handful of sugarry goodness before kind of darting to the side to devour the candeh, which he was already gobbling down like a starving sugar addict.

Already, the shakes were starting. As were the bouncy feet.

Lainey scratched her nose as she watched the Candy Lion devour his Candy Gazelle. It wasn't quite Discovery Channel, but it wasn't far from it either.


"Um. Beg pardon. But should I be concerned?"

No, really, should she?

Hmm, so he hadn't been kicked out. Yet. That was a good thing. Smirking at her joke he relaxed a bit more, removing the half eaten sugar quill from his mouth. His lips were sticky, at least he wouldn't be kissing anyone anytime soon. Throwing that disgusting thought away he shrugged, "Just thought I'd see what you're really like. See if my cousin was right about you or not." he replied mysteriously, crossing his arms.

Eying her as she began chomping on something in her mouth he nodded to himself, tilting his head as he took his hands out of his pocket and crossed his arms. Looking around her office once more he frowned, "Is it true you have a strange fear of bananas?" he asked curiously, asking random question. He was a random kid.

Lainey sucked bit of peppermint from her teeth, her eyes moving from the potential disaster in her corner to the inquiring Ravenclaw.

"Hum. Well. That's a very deep question, you know? It's not really as simple as asking if I am afraid of bananas. I mean, where'd the banana come from? Did a House Elf have their grubby little hands on it first? Who grew it? Why are you offering me a banana? I'd feel exactly the same about an eggplant, you know." You know?

Perfect sense.

Shaking his head ferociously quickly, so fast he might have contracted whiplash or something, Jake just continued bolting down the sweets he held, the odd sweet wrapper going down to his stomach too.

Nothing wrong here. Nothing at ALL.

When he was all finished, Jake found himself blinking in confusion. No more... candy? Why? What did he ever do? Blinking up at Bag Lady, Jake thought to himself for a moment, befor ebouncing forwards again, and then bouncing up and down. "MOAR PPPPLEASE?"

Oooops. Too loud.

Making a dramatic 'OH NOES!' face, Jake changed his voice to a loud whisper. "MOOAARRRR PLEEEEASE?"

Ok he had to admit that hadn't been the answer that he had expected but he'd take it. "So you're saying you're afraid of anything anyone gives you, or is it just the House Elfs? Ariana was right." he inquired, nodding to himself before breaking out into a grin, eyes dancing. Yup she was going to think he was nuts, that's for sure.

Looking over to the corner where he'd seen Jake before his eyes widened. "You gave him candy, didn't you?" he asked, a hint of unease in his voice. Super mega hyper Jake was going to come out any minute if she had. Clearing his throat he stuck the sugar quill back in his mouth and sucked on it.

"I wouldn't say afraid. Overly cautious and exceedingly intelligent, maybe, not necessarily afraid."

Hah. Lainey tried to keep a straight face, snorted loudly, and moved right along to the next thing.

"I might have. All the witches in those stories give kids candy, you know." It clearly justified her giving candy to the crazy Bag Boy. Right? Right.


Errrm.

"I'm not entirely sure that is such a good idea. I think a much better idea would be for you come over here." Lainey had moved near to her wastebasket. She leaned down, making no sudden movements, and lifted it up. "Could I interest you in vomiting in my rubbish bin? I'd feel a lot better if you did."

Hearing that oh-so-familiar voice, Jake looked over at Will and found himself nodding frantically, so much so that his glasses kind of had delayed moved and kept tapping down on the bridge of his nose as his head was coming back up. Noticing this, Jake giggled loudly, crossed his eyes to watch, and did it again.

"She DID!"

Was it really that noticeable?

"Ewwwwwwwwwww..." Jake drew out the word all looooong and childish. "I duhh-don't wanna vvvomit. That ddon't huhh-happen 'til the allery kkkkicks in anyway," he added, suddenly finding alot more joy in essplorin'.

Moving straight to the window, Jake found himself attempting to kneel up on the window sill as he smooshed his face against the pane of glass, trying to see out to the... the...

Well, outside.

"Your wwwindows need cuhh-cleaning," the boy remarked as his face and breath smear!smudge!fogggged said window.

Holding onto the wall on either side of the window, Jake leaned allll the way back, tipping his head back so he looked at everyone upside down. "Let's hhave a tuhh-treasure hunt! YAY!"

He looked over to Jake again, his eyes going wide as he watched him nod his head. Waiting for his glasses to fall from his nose and break on the floor. Will knew what was coming and prepared himself, knowing that soon enough it would get interesting.

"Err Jake, a treasure...hunt, seriously?" Will asked quirking an eyebrow as he tried not to crack up laughing. And people thought he was strange Will thought eying the poor kid with the sugar allergies. That was the strange part he thought, him Jake.

Jake - normal.

"I see. I guess in a castle full of strange people you need to be overly cautious." he replied nodding a bit.

He frowned, "But in those stories the witches are bad, or they're made out to be. You clearly are not bad. Just misinformed. Jake and candy do not mix. as you can see." he replied smirking slightly as he eyed the boy who he was semi friends with. He took a few steps closer to the wall, a safe distance away from him he thought and watched what he would do next.

With a gleeful laugh that totally got rid of all the other emotions he'd been feeling lately, Jake kind of rocked back and forth as he looked at everyone upside down. "Yyyeah! Muhh-more c-c-candy!"

He NEEEEEDED it.

"AAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAH!"

Jake didn't want to puke! That was stupid, the sugar would go away and everything. As the window flew open, Jake leaned the top half of his body aaaaaaaaaall the way out, so his feet were off the floor of the office. He wasn't bothered about falling. It never really hurt, and he obviously wasn't thinking about dangers.

"Hey luhh-look! A ttttreehouse! Reckon I cuhh-can jump there fffrom here?" the boy asked, looking over his shoulder. "Or into the lllake?"

Not possible. Too far.

"MOAR CCANDEH PLEASE!"

But... he was starting to feel the effects. His throat felt slightly constricted and his stomach was starting to hurt... but he wouldn't puke, right?

Errrr...

"Ohhhh man," the boy suddenly groaned, leaning back into the office, a slightly green tinge to his skin. He wouldn't be sick. Wouldn't need a wastepaper basket...

Hmm.

Hmmmm. Why was it that Professor Lainey seemed.. nervous? Maybe? About being mentioned or spoken of? She didn't seem like a bad person, so why did it seem as though she might have thought whatever was said would be something unpleasant? Katie had no clue, but decided to dismiss those curious thoughts from her mind.

The Hufflepuff nodded once, smiling as she looked from the collage of photos to the baby's mother. "I kind of thought so. He resembles you," and.. even though Lainey was proving to be quite an interesting lady, it would be strange for anybody - including her as far as Katie knew, - to have pictures of a random child. "That.. makes sense. He's cute!" She had already said that but the whole birthing comment threw her off. On the inside she shuddered at that icky word, but kept visibly calm on the outside.


Ooooh. William was here! And Jake, who.. apparently couldn't have candy? But had gotten candy, from Lainey. Was candy the reason he had acted so funny last term in Professor Lawson's office? She wondered. "Erhh.. are you okay, Jake?" Katie asked, her nose wrinkling at how odd it sounded to her own ears to say his name - she never had before, never really spoke to him, though that wasn't uncommon and she could say the same about a LOT of students. This one, Jake, did not look okay. Had Legend stayed longer, he would have pointed out how stupid that question was.

Cedric eagerly took the dinosaur from Professor Lainey. Holding it with proper care, Ced started studying every single nook of it. Well, it seemed pretty harmless and didn't seem like it produces fire at all. He guessed the professor just told him that so he wouldn't run away with her cute dinosaur.

"Finished looking... Here's your dinosaur Ma'am." He handed it to Professor Lainey and smiled gently. He took a glimpse of his wristwatch and just noticed that he'd best be going.

"I uhh, gotta go now professor. Pleased to meet you." He grinned and walked toward the door quite casually. And then upon leaving the room, he scurried hastily down the hallway .

He began edging towards Jake, his eyes full of concern and fear as he leaned out the window. Oh no not again; the last time he had been like this it didn't end well, and well he liked Lainey and well he liked this office, it was cozy.

"Jake, too far to jump, and I don't want to jump after you." he replied, his voice normal even though the thrill of jumping out the window did sound kind of fun. Keeping an eye on Jake he looked over and smiled a bit at Katie finally seeing her for the first - or second? time that day.

And there it was; William knew the time was coming when he saw the look on Jakes face. "Uh oh..." he mumbled as he stopped almost standing in the middle of the office looking like he honestly didn't belong.

"Deep breaths Jake, you're fine." he reassured him, while trying to reassure himself. Yup he was in an awkward position all right.

Looking over to Katie again he shook his head a bit, the grin now on his face again. "He'll be fine soon enough." he replied looking over to the boy again. He felt bad for the kid, having a strange sugar allergy sucked, especially since it was Jake, King of Candy.

"You're on the first floor. So unless some sort of atypical and possibly dark wind comes through, I seriously doubt you'd make it up to any treehouse." But Lainey wasn't totally opposed to him trying. She was all about life experiences. If Jake needed to eat too much candy, then jump out her window and throw up to gain knowledge - then Mrs. A. Lainey (Cooper) was ALLLL for it. She watched with interest...

... then used her foot to push that garbage can his way again. "Don't puke on my floor. In the basket or out the window, my boy."


"We named him after cheese," Lainey told Katie. She moved over towards the girl and put Katie in front of her. Human puke shield. Hufflepuffs were kind and understanding and Katie would probably get over Jake's puke far faster than Lainey would. She put a hand on each of Katie's shoulders and made a bit of a hug out of it. Hugs were good. Nothing to be suspicious of.


Yeah..... Probably smart. Ditch the dino and run from puke. Smarrrrrrrrrt.




"You guys aren't the type that puke at the sight of puke, right? I mean, I sympathize with pukers, I hate it for them.... but..... I just got this office back. And it's so pretty in here. These blue walls...."

Jake looked confusedly between everyone who was talking at him, starting to shiver and tremble. This was an icky feeling. What he really needed to do was...

The boy fell forwards onto his knees and grabbed the wastepaper basket and hugged it close before-

"BLEEEEEUUUUURRGH!"

Jake emptied the contents of his stomach into it.

"Mmmerlin..."

But there was still something he wanted. "Cccan I hhhave more c-c-candy nnnow?"

"Let's talk hypothetically. Let's say, I said ... no. Let's pretend I said no, that you just THREW UP in my office and I'm not wishing for a round two and I refused you candy. What would happen then....? Hypothetically speaking."



Not being able to help herself, Lainey leaned over her garbage can and... viewed the vomit. Egad.

What Jake wanted to say was that if that should happen things might get potentially problematic, but he was sure his mouth wouldn't allow him to say that.

He didn't say anything... Because he knew that Bag Lady would refuse.

Instead, Jake glanced at everyone in the office, eyes lingering on Bag Lady before staring at the candy jar…

And then he dodged around the puke basket... And pounced for the candy jar.

Bahahaaa.
