Ivory made her way into the nursery, nodding around to several students she recognized and cooing at a few of the animals that were just plain adorable, until she finally made it to the cage that was extra special to her. Extra special because a certain special someone lived in there...

"Hey buddy..." She whispered quietly as she dug out a few things from her bag and tugged on her furry bobble hat."Wanna come out and play...AAAH!"

A look into his cage had surprised the bejesus out of her. A bunch of little quills were scattered around his cage and for a moment she had a horrible thought that he had been eaten or self combusted or something equally outlandish and sad. But oh wait....there he was.

It was at that moment, that she tried to remember how many months had passed. Aha...that was it he was quilling. Normal for a knarl at his age, which was when he barely began to lose his baby spikes in favor for his tiny adult spikes even though he still had a looong way to go.

Chuckling at how fast he was growing, she dug into her pack and took out the small exercise wheel she'd gotten him and added it to the corner before scooping him up and feeding him mushy insects from a little jar she'd brought.

Although yes it was slightly sickening it made her feel better that he seemed to like them as he licked the pinky she'd used clean.

Once he'd had his fill, she set him down to let him try out the new wheel. Playing would have to wait for next time since it seemed today would be a cleanup day.

Staring at the cage once she was done cleaning it out, she bit her lip as she had an idea. Could she make him a litter box? Could she even teach him to use it?

Pondering this, she rooted around in the supplies before she found something that would work. It was a flat triangular dish that after a quick hunt was filled with aspen shavings perfect for a knarl litter box.

Setting it in a far corner, she watched attentively. Since he'd eaten it wouldn't be long now....

As it turned out it was a bit long, considering he went and sniffed around before merely marching off and doing her business in an opposite corner. Sighing in exasperation, she tried to think of what to do.

Finally an idea popped into her head...

It wasn't ideal or even very sanitary but it would possibly work. Holding her breath, she grabbed a little pooper scooper and used it to transfer a few of her droppings from a separate part of the cage to the litter and then waited...

Well she waited and did a few other things-went to refill the water bottle- checked to make sure the little charmed to be warm bedding was still working-added a few little toys to her cage...and finally when it seemed there was nothing left to do that was when she noticed there were a few fresh droppings in the litter dish.

"Hoozah! Congratulations Sonic! You're a big kid now!" She announced in a sing song voice. Giggling, she blew him a kiss and skipped her way out of the nursery, scribbling in her journal as she walked.

Resting on her belly in the soft grass, she ran her free hand through her hair before using it to rest her head on, other hand taking notes in her journal. It was a lovely afternoon, the sun was high and a soft breeze was blowing over the grounds. Arya decided that this was a great day to spend with her clabbert. She had so much studying to do with finals coming up, that she needed something to take it off her mind. Not to mention she was excited to try feeding Rafiki a new food. He had matured past insects and was now ready for his first lizard.

The young clabbert was stalking the small dead lizard that his keeper had hidden in the grass. Keeping still, his eyes stared at the lizard for a moment before he took a big leap and pounced on the lizard, rolling on the ground as he played with the food in his mouth.

Giggling softly at Rafiki, she watched him play with his food as she wrote down his reactions to his new meal. It seemed he enjoyed the hunt just as much as the meal, if not more. Once he got used to eating the lizards she would move him to small birds....if she could handle it. The only reason it had taken her so long to give him the lizards is cause she thought she had to kill the poor babies. But since she didn't she had no problem feeding him lizards. Like feeding rats to a snake right?

As Ivory stepped into Nursery, she couldn't resist a yawn. A huuge yawn. It was a Merlin awful time in the morning, and the sun wasn't even out yet.

Now what would incite a sleep lover such as herself to be awake this early...well it was a who actually. Sonic. Her baby knarl. Her baby nocturnal knarl.

Although she'd come and visited him throughout the week, it seemed every time she did he was either napping or waiting to be fed so he could nap some more. Sure, they cuddled, her in her furry Mama-Knarl type clothing and him in his little dull spines, but they hadn't had a chance to really exercise yet. But today...that would change. It was still dark and she was awake, and from the little huffy sounds coming from his cage so was he.
Looking for all the world as if it was the single most important thing in the world, her little knarl was chewing on one of the little logs she'd added to his cage last week. Chewing and gnawing and well teething it seemed.

Chuckling, she pulled open the little door and reached in with her furry gloved hand. "Sonic, buddy are you sporting baby teeth now?" As if in answer, his little claws hooked onto her thumb and began gnawing on the fabric.

With a small gentle shake, Ivory dislodged his hold. "Dummy this isn't for chewing..." Cradling him in her gloved hand, she brought him out and let him curl up in the crook of her arm the way he liked to. Immediately, he started hunting around for the bottle she usually hid there for him or the mushy fruits and started spitting and huffing when he couldn't find it.

She did actually have the bottle in her bag but since he was teething well it seemed it was time for solids.

"Now, now buddy its time for other foods now. Don't worry..." She assured him as she made her way to the designated area outside. "I think you'll like it." Setting him down so he could explore, she took the time to set up what she'd been planning.

Rooting through her bag she took out a little bag of berries and mealworms, and made a small piles on the floor. Next she took out a sack of ground corn cobb and wood shavings and made little hills over the food with little cave like openings. When it seemed ready, at least to her although she wasn't a hedge hog, she scooped him up and brought him close.

Setting him down next to her, she got on all furs and made a dramatic point of scurrying and foraging through the shavings as if she was looking for something. Hopefully if her Mama-knarl apparel technique had worked he'd follow her example and forage too.

"Come on Sonic, forage! dig! Be a knarl!"

At first it seemed that he was just going to sniff around and grab little wood shavings in his paws and turn them this way and that, but eventually whether because she was doing her best to look like she was foraging or merely because it was natural instinct, he eventually began digging around....and with vigor too.

It seemed he'd caught the berry and meal worm scent and was going crazy burrowing and trying to find it. Finally, she saw him triumphantly horde a little pile and begin digging in with gusto. Smiling happily while he ate and then continued digging here and there just for fun, she took notes in her journal and giggled as she watched his little form pop up here and there.

It wasn't until she noticed he'd slowed down some and come to huddle beside her that she realized that the sun was rising and that the little dear was probably all tuckered out.

Placing him back in his cage with care, she smiled down at her little baby before changing out his littler box and picking up the few stray quills that were laying around. "Night night little Sonic." And with a small check that he had water and the addition of a small pile of berries and mealworms in a corner, she was gone.

Legend was actually sad. Today was his has day with Charmander. The "little" (now big) guy had been fun to take care of. He wished that he could keep him. Maybe that would show his dad that he was actually good with animals.

Arriving in the Nursery Legend was carring a big container full of crickets. It was his last time seeming Charmander so he had to give him a treat. And the dude couldn't get enough crickets.

"Hey man." Legend said greeting the bird as he opened the cage. The beautiful bird straightened his wings to reveal his giant wingspan and it's amazing. Legend was in awe for a few seconds. "Charmander this is for you." Opening the top of the container he had made sure that it was long enough for the green creatures to not be able to jump out, but so that Charmander could still eat them. The bird did not move to the food he simply turned his head to the side.

"It's a goodbye present? I guess I'm done taking care of you. You're not a baby anymore Char. You're well...an adult Phoenix. You have your colour and your tail feathers...and you're even way to big for that cage." Legend felt like he just HAD to explain him self. He just felt sad though.

It was as if Charmander sensed his sadness and opened his mouth. Legend blinked, he was shocked with what followed.

A soft melody erupted from the bird's mouth. It filled the room and the Gryffindor instantly felt warmness in his heart. He instantly knew that the bird no matter what would be okay, because that was what he was trying to show him. By singing his song. Petting Charmander Legend grinned and pushed the crickets toward him again. The bird stopped singing, but the warm feeling remained as he watched him gobble down the helpless creatures.

It was his last notebook time.

A single tear rolled down Legend's eye but he brushed it away quickly. HE COULDN'T BE CRYING! He was a boy-MAN!....Almost! And men didn't cry. Ushering the Phoenix into the cage, Legend took out his wand and expanded the cage so he wouldn't be squashed inside. "Later man. I'll see you again one day." Letting his hand trail in the Phoenix's head he slowly locked the cage and made his way out the nursery.

For the last time.

It was late afternoon when Ivory found herself at the nursery again. Hopefully late enough that her nocturnal buddy would be awake...

” Hey you.” she murmured adoringly through the cage as she opened the little door to reach in. Whether it was because he really consider her a mama-knarl or because he simply adored the one who fed him and played with him, Sonic waddled to the lip of the cage unceremoniously and began clicking impatiently.”There, there now,” she chided softly as she picked him up in her gloved hand. ”Don’t you go getting your spikes in bundle…”

Taking him to the outside area for a bit of foraging first, she took the time to hide a few berries, some small worms, and a few pieces of ripe fruit and some crickets among the leaves and grass. Almost the instant he was set down, Sonic was off. Scurrying this way and that as he hunted around for his meal. Knowing he’d be able to get his own food in the future made her feel more at ease, since he’d probably never fit in with any wild knarls if he was hand fed.

Observing him as he foraged here and dug there, she realized he didn’t really know much about rolling up, at least not defensively. She’d already put some thought into this a bit and had planned out a strategy and now…well the only question was would it work. Making sure he was occupied she removed a large stuffed animal from her bag and set it a bit of a distance away.

Clicking her tongue a few times to get his attention, she turned dramatically to hiss at the innocent faux German Shepherd named [i]Sheep[i]. Hissing and spitting, Ivory had to admit she felt a bit foolish as she rolled herself up into a ball and sort of semi rolled closer to Sonic. But it was all for a good cause right? Imitating what she now named his annoyed sounds she tried to act for all the word like she was threatened by the stuffed dog very vehemently.

Realizing he might not be getting it, she reached an arm behind her as he once again began foraging. Biting her lip since she really didn’t want to do this, she willed herself to continue and brought the stuffed animal until it was right next to him, and then with a small clearing of her throat she brought her hand up through the stuffed animal’s belly to work the puppet like mouth.

”Ruff ruff. Grrrrr. Sounding as ferocious as she could, she brought down the soft puppet mouth open and closed as she growled and barked, messing up his little food pile and nudging his little body with it's snout. Slowly, Sonic began to sputter and huff a bit, but just seemed to waddle away.

Sighing, she brought the cloth mouth down to lightly try to grasp him. As gently as possible, she wiggled her fingers inside the fabric, knowing she could never really try any more than this since just this small gentle action made her feel horrible as it was. ”Grrrrrr RUFF”

But then…she didn’t have to worry anymore because whether it was because he was just annoyed to be interrupted during his meal or because his primal instincts had kicked in, Sonic had bunched himself into a ball and had thus contracted the little muscles on his back to straighten out the spines on his back. Although they were mostly still baby quills with no edge she could still feel the slightly prickly sensation through the cotton of the puppet.

Smiling in success, Ivory made a few whining sounds and made a big show of having the stuffed dog run away behind a nearby crate.

[b”You sure showed him, didn't you. ”[/b] she cooed enthusiastically as she scooped him up in her furry glove.”Sonic the Knarl. Be afraid dogs…be very afraid.”

Giggling she took him back to his cage, and cleaned it up a bit for him before placing a special little fruity treat in his ceramic bowl buried under some of the aspen shavings.

”See you later, alligator!” she called cheerily as she pushed through the nursery door and out onto the grounds happy that it seemed her little knarl now knew a little bit about defending himself.

Marie and Frankie followed Carter and Kali back into the nursery. After putting Frankie back in his cage she sat next to Carter so she could write in her journal.

"Yeah, lunch sounds good." she said as she was putting her journal away. She then looked down at her wet clothes. "Yeah, I better go change. Meet you there in about a half hour?" she said as she got up to leave. She really needed to go take a shower now.

"See you tomorrow Frankie," she said as she walked past his cage.

It had taken Rafikit longer than she wanted to eat the lizard. All he wanted to do at first was play with the thing, she thought he would never eat it. But just when she was about to take it from him and feed him his normal meal, the clabbert started to nibble on the lizard. Resting her head in her palm, she stopped taking notes and watched as he started to eat the dead lizard.

So he didn't know what to do with the lizard at first. He had hunted his meal and tossed it around a bit to make sure that it was dead, but the young clabbert didn't know how to start off eating the new meal. Wasn't she suppose to show him how to eat it or maybe take the first bite. He wasn't sure. Staring at the lizard's long tail, he debated whether or not to it was a good place to start eating the meal. Picking it up in his mouth, he began to nibble on the tail. It wasn't long before he was pulling off a small chunk then quickly swallowing it. His instincts kicking in, he picked the small lizard up with his mouth and quickly devoured, then he turned to Arya. More please.

She had watched curiously as he ripped off the lizards tail and began to chew away like it was beef jerky. He seemed a little lost at how to eat the meal, but quickly learned. That was her little clabbert, such a fast learner he was. Arya scribbled down a few notes in her journal before she could forget the whole experience in detail. Now it was time for her to eat her lunch, but she wasn't gonna do it out here with him. She had tried that last time and ended up with Rafiki covered in her food and her going to class on an empty stomach. Not a wise decision on her part. Picking up the clabbert, she placed him on her neck and let him cling to her as she gathered her belongings.

She was leaving again, he just knew it. Once he was placed on his favorite place to cling to her, he knew that she was leaving him and he would be all ALONE until she came back. Sure there was the other nice keeper, but she never stayed as long as this one, and she didn't climb to the tops of tree's with him. POUT. Clinging to her neck, he idly swatted at her ponytail while she picked up those things she always had with her. He figured them to be toys, but she never let him play with them, and it wasn't food cause she didn't eat it either. Plus he had tasted them and knew it wasn't food. Getting bored with her neck, Rafiki crawled up to the side of her head and clung to it.

Once Arya had gathered all her belongings and shoved them into her bag, she slung the thing over her shoulder and walked back towards the nursery. It didn't phase her when Rafiki had climbed to the side of her head, he tended to enjoy a different view every now and again. Opening the door to the nursery, she walked over to his cage near the back and opened it up, taking a peek inside. "You need a bigger cage, I'll fix that when I get back from lunch." Pulling him from her head, she gave him a little kiss and placed him in the cage. Giving him one more lizard before closing the cage door and walking out of the nursery, towards the kitchens.

'Twas a sad day for Destiny.

She knew it was going to be the last time she was going to be able to visit her Jarvey before the end of term. With finals coming up, she was going to be way to busy, and she was just sad. Sure, they didn't really get along too well, but she had grown attached to him and she was definitely going to miss him during the summer.

Imagine how big he was going to be when she came back next term!

The thought of being able to see him then brought a small smile to her face as she made her way inside the nursery and to Captain's cage. Aww! He was SO cute when he slept, and she didn't really want to wake him, buuuut she was going to and too bad if he didn't like it. At least she had a pocket full of chicken that she was going to feed to him, so maybe he'd be a little happier to see her.

Somehow, she doubted that.

Running her finger along the bars of the Jarvey's cage, her smile widened as the not so little guy stirred and rushed over to her. He must have known she was upset!

"FREAK!"

Or it was to call her names. Either way, Destiny opened the door of the cage, allowing the Jarvey to climb to sit on top of her shoulder. Of course he just HAD to look at all the other creatures. Shaking her head, she turned around and headed outside, placing the Jarvey down on the grass. Haha! She liked when he ran around, and rolled in the grass. Sitting herself down on the grass as well, she pulled out her notebook and started to work on her last journal entry.

Sigh.

As soon as the Jarvey caught site of the journal, he scurried himself over and jumped right on top, making it hard for Destiny to write. Grinning, she picked him up and placed him on the grass once again, "Go play, Captain. I need to write!" Shooing him with her hand, she picked up her quill and started to write again.

Apparently Captain liked to have all the attention, and Destiny once again found him jumping right on top of her journal. "Captain, no!" she scolded as she placed him on the ground AGAIN. Pffft, he was cute as he rolled around, but she couldn't look at him the WHOLE time. She needed to finish this journal. Picking her quill up..again, she placed it against the page she was writing on when Captain came and SNATCHED it right out of her hand. "Hey!" she exclaimed, and jumping to her feet, she went to chase after him. "Give that back!"

Destiny knew if Captain didn't have a quill in his mouth, he would have been calling her all kinds of rude names. The not so little guy was fast, and Destiny was not. The chase lasted only a few minutes before she gave up, and she plopped on the ground to catch her breath. The Jarvey stopped too, but kept the quill in his mouth. There was no way she was getting that thing from him..

..unless they traded!

Mwaha!

Digging in her pocket, she pulled out the wrapped up pieces of chicken and laid it out on the ground. She could tell the Jarvey wanted it, and he slooooowly made his way over. As he made his way closer and closer, he dropped the quill, and started to eat the food. Destiny jumped to her feet and grabbed the quill, shoving it in her pocket. HA! In your face Captain!

With the quill in her pocket, she made her way over to her journal while the Jarvey ate and when she returned, he was done eating and she scooped him up. "I think it's time to go back in now, Captain." Petting him, she walked back inside the nursery and placed him in his cage, closing the door behind him. Pulling the..chewed up quill from her pocket, she finished writing down her journal entry.

With one last glance towards the Jarvey, Destiny gave him a salute and headed back to the castle. She needed to study!

Arya was running down to the nursery, bag slung over her shoulders and hair flying behind her. It was sunrise, she hadn't woken up not to long ago and was exited. Today was the day that Rafiki would be moving to an adult sized clabbert cage, with a whole tree branch ans all. The girl knew he would be excited as well, even if he couldn't speak wizard.

A small could of mist forming around her face with every breath, she slowly pulled the door to the nursery open, slightly winded. She didn't want to wake up the other creatures, but knew that her clabbert would be awake. Walking through through the nursery, she peeked into a few cages of creatures she helped take care of before reaching Rafiki's cage. "Morning, Rafiki." She opened the creatures cage.

The clabbert had been up and was curdled up in the nest that was too small for him. He was waiting for her, to fed him, to play with him, to cuddle. All of it and more. Rafiki heard her coming through the window like she did every morning and his excitement grew. He knew something new was happening to day, but since he couldn't understand her strange language, didn't know exactly what. When she walked into the nursery, he jumped down from his small tree branch and started to run for his door. He collided with her face and CLUNG to it with all his might.

Giggling she carefully pulled him off of her face and placed him on her neck. "Its good to see you too, Rafiki. Ready for breakfast?" She went over to where the fresh dead lizards were and pulled out a few for the growing boy. "Here ya go bud, breakfast is served." Pulling him off of her, she placed him and the lizards on a small table, then went to strip his old cage of its contents. She started with the small tree branches, taking them outside to be placed with a pile of them and then she moved to remove the toys and his bedding.

The only thing that could distract him from the girl was his meals. Releasing his hold on her head, he hopped on the table were he ate all of his meals when they were inside and took his time eating the lizards. He gobble them down like the first few times he had eaten lizards. Instead he began to take them apart peice by peice, ocassionaly playing with them before he finished off the dead creatures. When he was finally done, he looked up at his caretaker waiting for what was next.

By the time that Rafiki had finished eating all of his food, she had completely finished cleaning out his old cage. Walking over to him, she picked him up and placed him on her neck. She went back outside and levitated larger tree branches into the nursery to his bigger cage. Slowly Arya began to set up the creatures new cage with all his toys and bedding. By the time that she had finished, it was early morning and a few more creatures had woken and began to watch her work. Setting up his bedding high in the tree branches, she allowed Rafiki to climb off of her and explore his new cage. "This is your new home, baby. Now you don't have to worry about your bed being to small, your fully grown now." Once done, she gave the clabbert a small pat and closed the cage door. "I'll be back when I get some studying done." Turning, she skipped out of the nursery.

Ivory was a bit hesitant as she walked into the nursery this time around. She had a small tub, a small tin of oatmeal, and a few other bath essentials in her arms. Setting them all down in the designated area, she knelt down in front of Sonic’s cage.

As usual upon examination of her furry Mama-Knarl get up he started huffing and clicking and whistling enthusiastically until she picked him up, upon which point he began to sort of purr. Well sort of. Nevertheless it seemed a sound of contentment.

Hoping against hope that this mood kept up, she let him cuddle there while she set up the small tub with warm water and some oatmeal. Now that his adult spines were coming in more frequently it was more common for knarls to experience patches of dry skin. So what was the solution...well a bath! And not just any bath but an oatmeal bath! One that would help his little body feel clean and well.

That is if he even realized it was for his own good, because as soon as she tried to lower him in the water he went stir crazy attempting to scurry up her furry coat sleeve."Come on Sonic, its not so bad..." But even as she spoke he was scurrying around and she herself was preforming some sort of intense juggling act as she tried to keep him from slipping out of her hands.

Finally some time later after many attempts and feeling very winded, Ivory succeeded in plopping him down into the tub. It was just enough water to wet his little legs so it wasn't like he was going to drown but from the way he was acting well anyone could've been fooled differently.

As she grabbed the little ladel to start the bath that was when she realized that for some unknown reason Sonic had decided the only way to get himself out of there was to soil his bath water. Which was exactly what he did.

"Sooooonic...this isn't your poopy area!" Chuckling in spite of herself, she tipped the tub carefully until it was dropping free and filled it with warm water again. Thankfully either he was all pooped out or he learned that it was inevitable, because it didn't happen again. What did happen though was a flurry of movement as he tried to climb out of the tub only to discover the sides were to high and on top of all that it was to slippery.

Giggling, she was finally able to catch him unawares and ladel some oatmeal water onto him. Sure he spluttered and shook out his quills wetting them both, but Ivory felt this was a small form of success.

From then on it just grew hilarious...at least for her. It was an amazing feat to chase her around the tub with Knarl Specialized Organic Shampoo and an even greater feat to rub it into his belly but eventually what seemed like hours had passed and her little knarl was clean...even down to his little feet which she'd specially used a gentle toothbrush for.

"Silly it's not sanitary to drink bath water..." Chuckling again, she took this as a sign that he'd had enough and wrapped him up in a furry towel before taking him outside to dry off naturally. Of course keeping him from hightailing it to the dirt was difficult but thankfully she'd chosen to do this in the afternoon and consequently it wasn't long before he'd curled up against her furry pants and fallen asleep, still huffing occasionally in what she could only translate as annoyance.

Setting him back in his cage, a little worse for wear, Ivory promised she'd be back soon and wearily made her way back to the castle.

"See you tomorrow Kali." Carter said giving the crup one last pet. "Tomorrow we'll work on doing a trick." he said. He then grabbed his bag and headed out with Marie.

After she had studied as much as her brain would allow for her finals, she made her way out to the nursery. Today she would be adding small birds to his meals since the lizards weren't enough to satisfy his hunger. She wasn't really looking forward to watching him eat birds, especially if he was going to eat them like he ate the lizards, but she could only feed him so many lizards.

Making her way through the nursery, she first cleaned the cages of the crup and kneazle she had been taking care of and gave them a little food. Tallulah and Miles had both gotten bigger over the year and Tallulah had even learned to play with other kneazles. Miles was still a crazy crup but he knew a good deal of tricks.

When she was done playing with them, she went to Rafiki's cage and searched it for the young clabbert. It wasn't as easy as before now that he had a bigger cage and more places to hide. "Rafiki...." The little clabbert came swinging from the tree branches and landed on the cage door. "Want some small bird?" Walking over to the food, she picked up the smallest of the fresh birds. Then she went back to his cage and opened the small compartment that was for food and slipped the bird in. He swung down and grabed the meal, playing with it before he began to tear into it. "Eww, have fun, Rafiki. I'll be back after my swim." And with that she turned and headed out towards the pool.

It was kind of a bittersweet day for Mina. Yes, she was off to celebrate her birthday with Evan but it was also the last time she would get to see little Chloé for a while. Of course, she would so visit her next term and all. But she knew it wouldn't be the same at all.

Sliding her bag over her shoulder, Mina entered the nursery and headed right over to the cage. Opening it she pulled her little friend out and smiled. "Hey princess," she smiled as the knarl squealed a bit. Oh Chloé was a happy knarl today for sure. Looking at the contents of the cage, she shook her head and giggled. "I see you have been feed and you must be in the mood to play."

The cage looked a bit of a mess, as Mina could only conclude that Chloé had probably spent most of her morning running about. Setting her bag down, Mina pulled out a blanket and laid it out on the ground, before sitting a top it. "Okay, since this is my last visit to you this term, I'm going to allow you to play a bit in the open. But if you run away again, you are going back in the cage, understand?"" she scolded as she looked the knarl in the eye. Chloé squealed and squeaked slightly as her little knarl head tilted and she blink.

Mina laughed and lowered Chloé to the blanket, allowing her to hop down and run about the blanket. Reaching up, Mina smiled and played with something on her necklace. Yes, she was going to miss this time she would spend with Chloé. With one eye on the knarl, Mina pulled out her journal and started to write. Chloé was behaving and she trusted the knarl not to run.

Setting her journal down, Mina felt something on her shoulder. Looking up, she laughed. Chloé had managed to climb up her arm and was now staring at the small silver object on her neck. Moving her hand, she picked up Chloé and moved her closer to the object of her curiosity. "It's a birthday present from Evan. You never met him, but maybe next term, I'll bring him down to see you," she smiled as Chloé squealed and snuggled the silver lion with her nose.

Hearing a tiny sneeze, Mina pulled her hand and Chloé away from the necklace. "You silly thing. I hope you weren't trying to eat my gift." she laughed as she got up and cradled the knarl. "It's probably not tasty at all, plus you just ate and I'm sure you are in need of a nap now." The knarl only squeaked and blinked as she lowered her into the cage again.

"You know I'm going to miss you, but promise to be good and I shall visit again next term." she smiled as she tidied up her small mess and looked back to the cage. Chloé was now laying out and staring at her. Oh, she was so going to miss her little friend.

It was only a matter of minutes before Chloé was out. Yes, the knarl needed a nap and with her asleep, it was a bit more easier leaving without Chloé staring at her with sad eyes.

Yes, she so would have to visit again.

Carter entered the nursery holding a large bag of treats. He headed straight for Kali's cage. "Hey girl!" he said opening the cage door. Kali responded with happy barks. After licking his face, Kali headed for the bag in his hand. She began pawing it trying to get to the treats.

"Not yet. I want to teach you something first." he said sitting on the floor. Kali sat down on the ground in front of him.

Well... now he couldn't teach her to sit... since she was already sitting. He'd have to do something else.

"This is called 'shake'." Carter said taking Kali's paw. The crup swayed unsteadily for a second. She was not expecting that to happen. "Good job." he said setting her paw down. He then gave Kali a treat. Once she was finished they'd try again.

"Shake." he said once again lifting her paw. She swayed once more. He then told her she did a good job and gave her another treat.

After a few more tries of this Kali stopped swaying as Carter lifted up her paw. "Good girl!!" he exclaimed happily giving Kali two treats.

"Shake." Carter said once more. But instead of lifting Kali's paw up, Carter had has hand a few inches from Kali's paw. She looked at it and then lifted her paw to his hand. "Very good job!" he said happily.

They practiced a few more times before Carter returned Kali to her cage. "You did so well today." he told her while he was filling up her water and food bowls. "We'll have to show that to Marie and Frankie tomorrow." he said.

He then sat on the bench and updated his journal and wrote a note to Marie.

He folded the note and then moved the treat bag to in front of Frankie's cage. He set the note on top. "Marie should be here soon." he said to Frankie giving him a pat. He then said bye to Kali and headed out.

Holding the little jar away from her, Ivory stepped into the nursery once again at a very early dark time in the morning. Today would be the day that she took foraging with Sonic to the next level.

Already she'd hidden berries and other goodies around but the important food source was what was in the jar. Live crickets and meal worms rather than dried ones.

Stepping into the outside area, she gathered up her little shovel and hid some of the worms and let the crickets roam free. Hopefully she'd gotten enough that they wouldn't all jump away before Sonic got here.

Wiping her hands on her pants, Ivory sighed in satisfaction at her work and put on her Mama-knarl furry gloves before going over to his cage.

"Hey buddy," she greeted him enthusiastically as she realized he was very much awake and running as all get out on his little wheel. "We're hunting crickets this season, yesh we are..."

Cuddling him to her chest, she made her way outside again and plopped him down next to her.
"Alright now Sonic...pay attention this is your food to go..." Bringing up the jar where she'd left one live cricket in, she set it down next to him. Not surprisingly he started clicking and huffing excitedly and sort of pawing at the glass as if not understanding why he couldn't get to his meal, so then very slowly she opened the lid and let him watch as the cricket paused for a second and then took off to hide among the leaves. "Come on Sonic catch!"

But he didn't have to be told twice because he was off scurrying his little weight forward after the cricket mildly distracted when in his search his paw brought forth a not so deeply buried meal worm. A giggle rose from her lips, as she watched him try with intense concentration to hold it down between his paws as it wiggled around finally just nuzzling down to chomp down on it.

"Whooo! Good job Sonic! That's Food-nil Sonic-One!"

And so went the early morning as he shuffled to and fro burrowing and foraging for little worms and only three crickets.

One time he'd almost caught one and the dear little thing began spitting and clicking angrily when it got away to such a tantrum that Ivory was almost rolling in laughter. Sure he managed to catch those three and each time he did he would make these little huffy noises that sounded for all the word like he smug and taunting the poor other critters.

The other little buggers turned out to be quite fast for him though and eventually he resorted to merely digging around for the worms and the hidden berries. Nevertheless, it seemed to her that he was now a little more competent in the getting his own food area so when he started to merely chew on a large twig and settle down she lost no time in scooping him up and returning him to his cage.

"That was really good Sonic you'll be ready to fend for yourself in no time!"

Smiling down at his little form as he burrowed in the little bedding for sleep, Ivory ran a little finger down the tip of his tiny snout, giggling when he latched onto it and began to nibble on the tip of the glove.

"Don't you worry, I'll be back in no time." Gently removing her hand and closing the door, she made her way out of the nursery closing the door quietly behind her so as not to wake up any of the non nocturnal animals.

Marie had been hoping that she would have a surprise for Frankie today but things didn't work out as planned. Hopefully she would have it for him when she came to visit the next time. Today she would just make this a quick visit as she wanted to get back to the workshop and finish his house.

When she entered the nursery she found a bag with a note on top of it in front of Frankies cage.

She read the note and smiled when she seen it was from Carter. "Look Frankie, Carter left you some treats." she said as she opened his cage.

Frankie came running out and jumped up on her. "Not yet, you can have the treats in a little bit. First we are going to go outside and play." She put his leash on him then looked over at Kali. She was sleeping so Marie wouldn't take her out this time.

She grabbed the treats and toys then went outside with Frankie. Of course Frankie wanted to RUN as soon as his paws hit the grass. She let him off the leash then took out his ball. She threw it as far as she could (so he could run a lot), "Go get the ball Frankie," she said. He ran after it and brought it right back and dropped it at her feet. She picked it up and threw it again. They did this several times and each time Frankie brought it right back.

After she threw the ball to him at least a dozen times she decided to work on getting him to sit. Something she had been meaning to do since her first visit but never got back to working on. Now that she had the treats Carter left she could do it.

"Okay Frankie, time to teach you how to sit," she said as she grabbed the baag of treats. Of course right away he started jumping up and down when he seen the treats in her hand. "Not yet boy," she said laughing. "First yu have to sit." She took a treat out, help it above his head and said, "Sit!" Which he didn't do. He was still jumping to get the treat. "I'll give you the treat after you sit for me," she said. She held the treat up again, "Sit!" she said as she put a hand on his back and gently pushed his bottom down. "Good boy, now stay," she said taking her hand off him. He stayed there for about ten seonds then jumped up again and tried grabbing the treat. "Okay, here you go," she said as she gave it to him. He did sit, even if it was only for a few seconds.

"Let's try this again Frankie. Sit!" she said as she held up another treat. And he didn't. She had topush his bottom down with her hand again. "You have to sit here like this if you want the treat boy." She held her hand on his back for a few secomds then slowly moved it. "Now stay there, don't get up yet," she said. She watched as he eyed the treat in her hand. After having him stay there about twenty seconds she gave him the treat. "Good boy Frankie, you did it. Now let's see if you can sit without me helping you."

She took out another treat and held it up. "Sit!" she said. And to her amazement he DID it... and he stayed. "Good boy Frankie," she said as she gave him two treats for that one. She gave him a hug and kissed the top of his head. "You are such a good cruppie," she said laughing.

She looked at her watch...

Crap, it was getting late and she still needed to get to the workshop to finish Frankie's house.

Grabbing everything she stood up. "Come on Frankie, time to go back inside." Once inside she put Frankie in his cage, put the toys away and the treats up where he couldn't reach them, then filled his food and water bowls. She then sat down to update her journal and write Carter a note.

She stuck the note to Kali's cage, petted Frankie one last time, "See you tomorrow boy," then left for the workshop. She was going to be working through dinner tonight if she wanted to get his house done by tomorrow.

It was with a heavy heart that Ivory made her way into the nursery. Over the past few months she'd grown quite attached of the little knarl. It was almost difficult to think back to a time before him. It seemed the term had revolved around her either being in the nursery, or thinking about the nursery, or even reading about nursing a baby knarl. To think the term was almost over and she wouldn't get to see him...well it made the reason for a very very heavy heart.

Finding herself in front of his familiar cage made her smile. "Morning buddy.." Her eyes took in his not so tiny form anymore as he rolled around his cage in excitement and began the little whistles and clicks she associated with a happy knarl. It seemed not that long ago when he was so tiny that he could fit in the palm of her hand, now she actually had to use two hands to scoop him up.

Letting out a big sigh because she knew she was probably about to alienate him she held him against her, cuddling him while she could as she took him to the outside area where she'd already spread out his usual hidden food.

Setting him down, she let him go off and chase a few crickets while she did the one thing she had not done once since the first time she visited him. She took off her Mama-Knarl outfit. The furry gloves, jacket, and even the bobbly hat that looked almost just like a knarl head. Then she brought out some hand sanitizer and the most generic lotion she could find and covered her legs, arms and even her face, to mask her scent as much as possible.

Then with a deep breath, she filled her hand with some of his regular food. Except it wasn't regular...it was actually a bit bad already...and had the sickly sweet smell of the overly ripe. Then clicking her tongue the way she always did when she was going to give him a treat, she watched with a serious face as he bobbed out of a pile of leaved and shuffled her way, his little spines swaying this way and that as he walked. At first he seemed without suspicion, his mind only on a treat, that is until he got to her hands and sniffed around. Smelling the ripe food and then the unfamiliar scent made him retreat a little and then slowly start to get closer. Nibbling on a small piece he almost immediately spit it out and started bristling when she purposefully brought out a hand as if to grab him.

Watching him shy away from her hurt a bit but she knew it was for his own good. He had to learn to be suspicious of humans or else he'd never fit in with other knarls. Biting her lip, she tried the final test.

This time, after hand sanitizing and lotioning again, she filled her hands with unspoiled food. His little head cocked to the side quizzically when she clicked her tongue again and he approached even more slowly than the last time. But as soon as he caught whiff of her new smell he took off balling up and rolling away, preferring to forage for himself.

Putting the food aside as she wiped a stray tear, she tugged on her furry clothing for what might've been the last time. Crawling forward to scoop him up, she was glad to see that although he resisted at first he at least still recognized her actual scent on her gloves."Oh Sonic...what am I gonna do without you..."

Murmuring how much she was going to miss him, she let him cuddle in the jacket hood while she cleaned out his cage and changed his water. When it was finally time to say goodbye, she couldn't hold back another tear.
"Now you be good okay and don't take food from strangers....aaaand don't let those crickets get the best of you." Smiling tearfully down at him, she reached into her pocket for a small piece of mango to offer to him. Clicking her tongue, she was sad to see that he was really hesitant and went and dropped the piece in his burrow. It only made sense for him to be suspicious now.

"Just remember somebody out here loves you, 'kay little buddy?"

Giving him a final little belly rub, Ivory took a mental picture of him and promised herself that this wouldn't be the last time she saw him. Then with a small parting wave to the inhabitants of the nursery, she walked with heavy feet up the path.

They were in the tree tops again, watching the students by the lake as they enjoyed the warm weather. Well......Arya ws watching them, Rafiki was busy hunting down a lizard that had called the tree its home. Her eyes flickered to the creature as he tried to fit into a hole to small for his fully grown body, before returning her gaze to the students swimming.

The term was coming to a close and she was somewhat sad to be leaving her second home. It was the reason she was letting him play and not trying to teach him somthing new, she knew that Lady Lawson would do that over the summer. "I'm gonna miss you, Rafiki." She pulled the clabbert out of the tree and held him at eye level. "Its too bad I live in a muggle neighboorhood, otherwise I would bring you home with me." Though she knew a few ways to hide the creature on their acres of land.

Rafiki almost had gotten hold of the lizard when he felt himself being pulled out of the hole. Gazing at his keeper he showed little interest in what she was saying, not realizing that he wouldn't be seeing her for a few months. Reaching out with his long arms, he grabed hold of her face and clung to the side of her head affectionately.

Arya giggled softly as he clung to the side of her head, comforted by the fact that she would atleast get to see him when she returned next term. "Lets go back inside and get you a lizard to snack on." Shifting on her branch, she took one long gaze back over the lake before climbing back down the tree. This would be her last visit and it saddened her greatly, but she held on the fact that she would get to see him again next term.

Marie ran into the nursery hoping that Carter was there. She wanted him to see what she had made when she took Frankie out to it.

Frankie came running up to her jumping up on her like he always does. "Hey there boy, I have something for you but we have to go outside for you to see it." She didn't even bother putting his leash on this time. She had a feeling he was going to run right to his new house anyway... or she hoped he would.

"Come on let's go, Kali might like this too." she said to Carter as she headed out the door with Frankie close at her heals. If Kali liked it maybe she would build her one too. Or help Carter build one for her.

Once outside Marie led the crups and Carter around the corner to the place Professor Man Lawson had put the cruphouse. She was a bit nervous now that someone other than the professor was going to see what she had built. Hopfully Carter wouldn't laugh at it, you know since it wasn't perfect and all.

"Are you ready for this?" she asked as she started to pull the cover off of it. Frankie was running around barking like it was Christmas. Well it was sorta for him. Haha, Christmas in June.

"Look Frankie, I built you a house," she said as she pulled the cover off all the way. Frankie ran around it a couple times before going inside and running around. "I think he likes it," she said to Carter.

Now what did Kali think about it?

Carter smiled. "It's cute." he said. You know, minus the uneven sawing. But it was really good for someone who hadn't done anything like that before. (And he could only assume Marie hadn't done anything like that before.)

"When did you do it?" he asked. Perhaps it was a muggle studies assignment.

"Now, you want to see what we did yesterday?" he asked. Without waiting for an answer he called Kali back over to him. During the time he talked with Marie the little crup had wandered over to the cruphouse and was celebrating the house with Frankie.

Carter sat in the ground as Kali trotted over. She stopped in front of him and sat down. "Shake." he said. The crup raised her paw and put it in his hand. He moved the paw up and down before allowing her to set it back on the ground. "Good girl." he said rubbing her head. He then gave her the treats he'd grabbed earlier.

"What do you think?" he asked Marie standing back up.

"Yeah, I want to see what you did yesterday," she said as she watched Kali come over from Frankie's house. "You know I think we may have to build Kali a house too," she said with a smile. Carter probably knew how to use those pawer tools that were in the shop so it wouldn't take as long to build another house.

Sitting on the ground next to Carter she watched as Kali shook hands, or was it paws with Carter. "You taught her that yesterday? I can't even get Frankie to sit still for longer than twenty seconds and here you have Kali sitting and shaking paws, or hands with you." Wow, she was impressed, maybe he could teach Frankie how to follow directions. "How'd you do that?"

And, here he comes again!

Treyen didn't bring the Snitch this time, he decided he was better off playing with the nice Phineas, instead of arguing with the niffler every time he left.

And so he did, he opened the cage to the adorable niffler, and simply played tag or some version of it with the creature, and fed him some food and FINALLY the niffler agreed to some water without much discussion.
