Herbology Lesson III A note had been placed on the greenhouse door, just incase some of the students couldn't find where today's lesson was due to take place. Yep, because this lesson was scheduled to take place on the little patch of grass just outside. The little patch of grass had been transformed though and the Professor eyed the several rows of freshly plowed earth with apprectiation. Perfect. |
Trixie, prepared for the final Herbology lesson of the term, sauntered over to the Herbology classroom, just to find it had been moved. Ooh.... Exciting. Teehee. Good Mood Trixie, practically skipped over to the patch of grass and looked down to see it, err...well no longer a patch of grass as such. Hmm.... "Morning Professor" the Slytherin Chimed. "How is ones wonderful self?" she asked with a grin. Err yep. Definitely a good mood. Well happy Trixie was better then angry Trixie. Angry Trixie was just, scary. Meep! |
Eeeep! Herbology! Lori had SKIPPED down to the greenhouse, to find that they were on a patch of grass for this lesson! Wahoooohah! Giving the Professor a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig wave, Lori smiled at him, before putting her hair up into a bun. Warm weather + long hair down = EW. Sweat! "How are you, Professor Dodson? Why're we out here instead of in the greenhouse. I mean... Sure I like being out here, but whyyyyyyy?" Hehe! Time for twenty questions! WOOT! Haha! Grinning, Lori eyed the area surrounding them, and smiled as she inhaled the looooovely smell of ... ... outdoors? |
Aw yes, finally...Herbology. Now, she normally would not have been so willing since...well, just look at the past Herbology Professors. But now, since she KNEW it would be Professor Dodson teaching, Evelyn was in a bit more lighter mood than usual. Smiling juuuust the slightest, she made her way over to where class would be taking place and paused more towards where she thought the back of the class would be. "Hello, Professor Dodson." Mmhmm. Yea, she saw him sitting with Professor Lafay. Bahahahaha! Not that she was giving him a look or anything... |
Oi Herbology. Destiny was starting to enjoy this class more and more. So far this term, they had not made any trips to the Unless that butterfly came and landed on Destiny's knee..then it wouldn't be so safe. Making her way towards the patch of grass, Destiny gave the Professor a wave and a smile..or it could've been a smirk, it did disappear rather fast, "Hello Professor!" She walked over to Evelyn and gave her a look..and then shuddered. Memories. |
Marie went to the greenhouse for herbology only to find that class had been moved outside. She was starting to like this time of year more and more with every class they had that was held outside. Walking around she found the class and the professor on the oher side of the greenhouse. "Hello Professor," she said as she stood near Destiny and Evelyn. "Hey guys." It appeared that there was still something going on with her friends but now did not seem like the time to ask about it. Maybe she would find out later. Looking around she didn't see Carter yet. Hmm, maybe he will show up soon. |
Skipping towards the greenhouses, the young puff glanced around at all the purty plants. Arya was loving all of these classes that were being held outside. It made it much easier for her to pay attention to the professor, unless something interesting, like a butterfly, crossed her path. Taking her usual seat in the front, she scowled inwardly as she spoted that sea scum in the class, glaring at her for a slit second before turning a smile to the professor. "Hello, Professor Dodson!" |

And another happy looking student! He hoped the reason they were all grinning was because they were attending Herbology... "I thought it'd be a nice change!" Sage said in reply to her curious question. He took a deep breath, filling his lungs with the fresh air. "It's a beautiful day and it's not nice getting all hot and bothered in the greenhouses." Plus, the theme of the lesson would just work better out here. Quote:

And here came Evelyn and Destiny. These two scared him.. but they were even more frightening when they were together he decided. He knew it was pathetic getting all creeped out by a pair of adolescent girls, but yeah, he just couldn't help it. The way Eveyln was looking at him too.. he didn't like it one little bit. "Nice to see you, girls." He lied badly, giving them both a shaky smile. Quote:

Carter neared the greenhouses to find the class gathered outside. "Hello Professor." he said passing Professor Dodson. He then joined Marie, Destiny, and Evelyn. "Hey." he said greeting them. |
Vashti was walking quite merrily towards the greenhouses when she paused, seeing the note. Hm? They weren't in the greenhouses today? Well, that was okay. So she headed over to where she now saw the other students had gathered. "Hello, Professor," she said, giving the professor a bright smile. "How're you?" And then she spotted Trixie - oh, hooray! Someone she knew! "Slytherdove!" She grinned. |
Noticing the note on the greenhouse, Mina smiled. Yes, another lesson heard outside. Major score! It was too nice to be stuck inside all the time anyway, but she had been looking forward to the lesson. Maybe they would be out in the garden or something today, she thought. The possibilities were endless really. Seeing Professor Dodson, she smiled politely as she greeted him. "Hello, Professor." she said as she passed by. Looking at the ground she stopped slightly and looked at it questionably. There was grass there once, was there not? |

"Mister Phillips," Sage smiled at the young Gryffindor who had made his way over and joined the group of Slytherin girls. Brave kid. Quote:
"I'm great, thank you!" Sage said brightly with a smile towards the Ravenclaw. All the happy looking smiles were making HIM feel more merrier! As though they were contagious! Quote:

"Hullo Professor Dodson!" Zane said, excited for his favorite class ever. Again, the class was outside, it must be the end of lesson fever that had everyone wanting to be outside most of the day. |
Selena walked in and smiled at the professor. "Hello Professor, how are you?" she said. Herbology was okay... at least she knew what was going on. She looked at the sky. It was nice, to have lessons outside. It gave her a place to look around, other than walls and other boring stuff. It looked like they would be planting or something, with the plowed ground. |
Patroclus flitted up to the door, and noticing the post-it, flitted away to the patch of grass. Seeing the luch grass, Patroclus had teh greatest urge to kick off his shoes, and wiggle his toes in the greenery, pushing the temptation to the side just for a moment, Patroclus greeted the Professor, "Good Day to you, Professor Dodson!" the phrase sound much more formal than intended, some Patroclus continued so to make it more informal, "the grass looks wicked comfortable!" |

Ah, some more students. Just what he liked to see. Sage beamed at the newcomers with much enthusiasm. It was safe to say he was pretty excited about todays lesson.. it was after all sort of his area of expertise so to say. "Glad you've all made it," he welcomed, glancing around to see if he could see any stragglers making there way over. Hmmm, nope. "Let's get started, shall we?" He gave his muddy hands a clap and grinned some more. He was getting used to this whole teaching thing now. Sort of anyway. "As I'm sure you all remember," he started, looking around at all the faces, "our previous two lessons have revolved around how Herbology is helpful in different careers. Now, in todays lesson.. we're going to be looking at how Herbology is helpful in the culinary career." He took a breather and looked around some more.. "So! Any ideas why Herbology might come in handy in the culinary world?" |
Selena raised her hand. "Well, Herbology can help in culinary careers because that way you can make up new foods and they can have certain effects that you want," she said hoping she got her point through. She wasn't sure if she got the phrasing correct though... eh... |
Aw. The sheer tranquility of having class outdoors. It was a nice day for it. Abby raised her hand, aiming to answer the professor's first question. "Some plants might have sort of calming effect on the person consuming it. Thereby, making food seem to taste better," she suggested. It could be the job of someone in the culinary field to create foods that made the consumer feel something, anyways. |
Alex raised her hand from where she was by Zane and Sel, "You can grow your own food and thus save money on having to buy it like once a week or so." Alex offered to him, she still wasn't that good in Herbology. |

"Professor, our knowledge of Herbology can help us decide which plants and herbs we can use as part of our food, and which we had better leave aside, due to harmful or poisonous properties." Potential life-saver, of course. "Oh, and it tells us which food - or combination of foods - derived from plants will be the most advantageous, for us - delicious and healthy." There was so, SO much more Gold could say on this topic, but she resisted the urge, so that everyone else in the classroom could have a fair chance of making a little contribution or two, to the question-and-answer discussion. Oh, and she was hungry, now. It didn't help that she had skipped breakfast, either. |
Ah Yum! Patroclus prayed their would be a practical section to the lesson! Raising his hand, Patroclus begun to answer, "Well a look at the very word Herbology would convince us that the subject has applications to the culinary world, as the first part is Herb. Many plants are edible, and certain magical planets that are edible would certainly have magical affect after being consumed!" Maybe they were to eat the grass....... A meal is a meal! |

SPOILER!!: too many quotes! Aw yes, there was Destiny! Bahaha! And it looked like she remember what Evelyn herself was remembering too. They should chat with Dodson sometime. Since well... ...there wasn't a very good chance of 'chatting' with Lafay and getting away with it. Unless she liked those chats... Whatever! Back to more important things. Oh, nope. There was Carter. Bleh. Nodding tensely at the Gryffindor, Evelyn moved her attention back to the Professor, saving that smile for him instead. Yup. Quote:
Raising a brow, the Slytherin smirked before her black eyes automatically moved towards Patroclus when he spoke. She still wanted that recipe of the dish she..forgot the name of. Perhaps she could get it from him later. Realizing that he was done speaking though and she was staring, Evelyn shook her head before raising her hand. Pretty everyone said everything there was about how Herbology might come in handy in the culinary world...except one! "People have been known to garnish their dishes with certain plants or flowers. Sometimes mostly just for decoration, like a rose on the side or something. I don't...know why though..." she trailed off, before dropping her arm down to her side. Both edible and not, but mostly it was for decoration. It still came in handy though! Pretty food! |
Jayce was barely listening as the professor spoke. He was slowly inching his way over to Trixie and Vashti. As soon as he was right next to Trixie, he grabbed her hand and smiled over at her. Then, he turned his attention to the teacher. He was talking about... FOOD. Jay's favorite subject. He couldn't help but let out an appreciative "Yum." And then the teacher asked a question. He watched as everyone's hands shot up and they spoke. Jay barely ever answered questions. So, he decided he wouldn't start now. |
