Amy looked at the plant and My names Amy Samson proffessor,but um how do you milk a plant? she asked, feeling uterly stupid

Jimbo grinned at the professor when he took his cupcake and skipped to his desk. Once he got there he finished up the cupcake he'd been holding and sat, waiting for class to start, twiddling his fingers.

Once people started answering questions, Jimbo listened on. He didn't want to answer questions, he wanted to do something. He was already starting to feel the buzz of sugar and felt like he needed to do something with his hands. Once they passed around the leaves, Jimbo grabbed one and fiddled with it while the professor was talking. He was glad to have something in his hands but he was wondering what it was for. Feeling a sting, he looked down at his hands and noticed he had caught some of his fingers in the spikes he hadn't known were there. Ouch. There was a tiny bit of blood but otherwise, nothing. Shrugging, Jimbo kept listening and was glad when they were told to milk the leaves. Haha, milk. A leaf. Ha.

He took out his wand to get rid of those pesky spikes that made him bleed and squeezed the leaf until the goo came out. Laughing, he squeezed some more until he felt he had gotten it all out. His hands were covered in goo. He laughed some more as he started playing with the goo in his hands. Unfortunately it was starting to go away. Hmm. He tried to grab the leaf and milk it some more but he had gotten most of it out. No more goo. All gone. On the plus side, his hands were really soft. Smiling, he rubbed his hands together, feeling the softness. Ooh. Yay. Soft.

Aaron laid his leaf flat on the desk. Okay, he thought. He casted the spell... Twice. The second time, it started cutting. He cut off all the spikes and pushed them to the side with his wand before continuing. He then cut open the middle revealing the goo. Cool. He placed hind wand down before sticking out his index finger. He scooped it out and placed it on the table. He did it again to make sure he didn't miss anything. Now what to do with this...

"Professor," he said raising his hand. "My name is Aaron and I wanted to know, would this have any positive affect on someone if eaten?"

Iris looked at the people who were speaking up and answering. She didn't really know much about Aleo Vera, other than it was meant to be good for you, and that Muggles liked using it in EVERYTHING. So she made notes. Lots of mental notes.

When the professor dude said they were going to be studying the goo in it, Iris frowned a bit, not really understanding how. She smiled to herself a little as he said some people called it 'milking' the aleo vera, and watched him as he got the goo out of it. Yaay. Looked like fun. Not.

She took out her wand, to begin to do what the professor did, but then a thought hit her. Iris raised her hand, "Professor... Why does it get called 'milking'? Because ... You're not really milking it. It's goo... And you're cutting it open.. Not, y'know - "She made a small motion with her hands, as if she was milking a really small cow, or something, " Do you get what I mean?" She asked him, sounding more than a little bit confused herself.

Ok his first lesson. Going ok so far. Herbology was one of his faveroute subjects. Less reading. More doing. Daniel collected his leaf and then pointed his wand at the leaf. He was going to do magic! Since he hadn`t been doing it for very long it excited him. He closed his eyes and thought about the leaf splitting in half. He could do this. "Diffindo!" he said and oppening his eyes he found that to his delight it had worked! Sure it was a simple spell but how many first years can do it on their first trys? Well Daniel didn`t know any.

Now for the easy part the scraping. He attacked the leaf with the spoon and started scraping the leaf. He dumped the gel into vial. His fingers reached towards his mouth. How would it taste? Hand raised he asked "Proffessor what would happen if one were to eat the aloe vera?" Hopefully nothing. Subconciously his finger went into his mouth.

Trixie had zoned out a little during the class thinking about her injured foot. Blimey it still hurt and that potion was disgusting. Eww. She looked up a little while later after realizing everyone had already started what they were meant to be doing. But she saw a leaf in front of her. She decided to call over the professor. "I'm sorry Sir, I think that potion the nurse gave me has affected my attention span" she giggled slightly but was actually serious about it. "Do you mind repeating exactly what it is we're supposed to be doing" she asked sweetly. Darn High Heeled Shoes. But that broken ankle really hurt.

Lysandra took a leaf from the basket and passed it on, listening to the professor explain what they were going to be doing to it. Milking? It sounds like we're working with cows she thought. She watched Professor Dosdon cut the spikes off of the side of the plant with the spell Diffindo. She layed the leaf flat against the table and took her wand out of her pocket and pointed it to the right side of the leaf. Diffindo she said. The spikes were cut off, at a jagged angle, but she could still see the goop. She did the same thing to the left side, this time it was cut a little neater, but not perfect. Cutting the sides of the leaf, she could see the inside and gel more clearly. She touched the gel with her index finger. It felt cool against her finger. Cool she said.

When she was done, she raised her hand and asked Professor, what are we supposed to do with the gel after cutting open the leaf?

Ellie used "Diffindo" and cut her aloe leaf. Then she sqeezed the gel out. She'd done this before, when she'd gotten sunburnt.

:: Ehgad sneezed and wiped his boogery hand on his robes. He pulled out his wand and tapped it on the table. Using his sticky booger hand, he tore some aloe leaves off and placed them on his table. "Allo leaves, eh? They seem to have boogers for insides just like me." He commented as he observed the goop that the Professor was beaming about. Ehgad liked boogers as well.

He pointed his wand at the leaves, "diffindo!" and although shabby, they were cut up the sides and ready to be milked.

Ehgad smiled with delight as he squeezed and scraped the gunk out using his fingers. The sensation of the goop was so pleasant it made the young boy giggle. His thoughts went to mischief as he pictured flinging the stuff at a nearby girl who seemed not happy about the subject.

Ehgad smirked and raised his hand, which was now sticky and a bit dirty. "Professor, when I put it in my hair, it sticks straight up!" Ehgad was using some of the goo that covered his hand to fix his short bangs into a row of spikes. "It's making my hair stick up funny!" He laughed and pointed at his discovery. ::

Milking?

Okayyy thenn.. The world was an odd place after all. Shrugging, Cedes held the basket that had been passed to her and took out a leaf. She handed the basket to someone else and looked at it, squishing it gently. Ahehehehe. It made her giggle. Yes she was very immature but this was the girl that still believed in cooties. She just hoped that Professor Dodgson had gotten his cootie shot. No man was safe anymore.

Mhmm... Cedes took out her wand and placed the aloe leaf down on the table. Pointing it at the leaf, she said the incantation, "Diffindo". Immediately, the sides were cut and GEEEEELLLTIIIMMMEE. She picked up the leaf and squeezed it giddily.

Great. Now what?

He'd been hoping they could move on pretty soon, but it seemed some of the students hadn't even started. He hoped he didn't run out of time. "Well, Amy," Sage said, moving towards the girl and her leaf, "using your wand and the severing charm.. the incantation 'Diffindo' .. you need to trim the spiny edges, and then down the middle of the leaf. That way you can get to the gel inside.

We'll be looking at some more healing plants very soon though, so you can wait for those if you like."

"It's not unheard of," the Professor said, nodding at Aaron's question, "some people like to consume the gel within the leaves if they're feeling particularly poorly. Personally, I don't like the taste."

That was a good question. Unusual, but good.

"Sometimes," he started slowly, "the juice.. gel.. whatever you want to call it that is inside the leaf of the aloe vera, is referred to as 'milk.'" Sage explained, "I'm not exactly sure, seeing as it looks nothing like milk, but that's why."

What was it with these young men and their appetites? Sage chuckled slightly. "Nothing terrible would happen were you to ingest the gel-like substance," he explained, "it's the yellowish, greeny sap that seeps out of the leaf when you cut it that you don't want to ingest. You'll get a bad tummy if you do."

Another one who hadn't started! EEK.

Sage bustled towards her, trying to remain patient. Apparently she had a bad memory, so it wasn't her fault. "We're extracting the gel from inside the leaf. You simply need to use a severing charm to trim of the spiky sides and then make a cut down the middle!"

"If you don't want to use the gel yourself," Sage told the girl, "just scoop it up and put it inside a vial. We don't want to waste it. It's good moisturiser though, if you want to rub it into your hands or forearms."

Sage grinned at the boy who was using the goo in his hair. "Must be the consistency," he said in amusement, "you can keep the rest in a vial if you like. Aloe vera hair gel."

He moved back towards the front of the class. Almost time to move on.

Keeley giggled. She had succesfully chopped her leaf without being too messy, and she hadn't even chopped off aaaany fingers!! Buut... what were they supposed to be doing with this aloe stuff? It was kinda just being all globby and was starting to leak out of the leaf. The pale, yet suuper duper happy girl then heard Mr. Awesome New Professor Guy's reply and scooped out all the jelly. Ooooh! Now her hands were all soft and moisterised! FUNN!!

Cadence, unlike most girls her age, was not afraid of rubbing things into her hands. After rubbing so much chalk rubbed into her skin that it had practically been turned permanently white, this moisturizing aloe vera gel would be very welcome! And Esme would probably be very proud of her for using it, too! After scooping some out of the leaf, she worked it into her dry and cracked hands, instantly feeling how much happier her skin was.

Trixie nodded and sighed in relief. "Oh I get it. Sorry I've only just got back from the nurse healing my...OW!" she exclaimed as she bashed her foot against the work space. Merlin's beard that hurt. She hopped on one foot as she started to use the severing charm to split and trim the spiky sides and extract the, eww! What was that?

Ericks tried following the instructions, using "Diffindo and trimmed the edges,then went deeper. He had reached the gel

Sage nodded in approval as the students who had been a little behind with their aloe milking finally caught up. "Remember if you don't want to use the gel for yourself, I'd apprectiate if you could scoop it up and put it into a vial." But moving on from that.

"Healing plants!" He said, clapping his hands together to catch their attentions once more. "Does anyone know of a plant or herb that can be used to soothe feet?"

Ellie shook her head. She had no idea...

Destiny was just staring at the piece of aloe on her desk. It wasn't doing anything! A rather boring piece of..something. At least some plants *coughDevil'sSnarecough* would have been wiggling at least.

Oh well.

"Plantain. People used that to soothe feet."

Heh. She hoped there wasn't going to be a demonstration..

Trixie raised her hand. "Does it have to be a magic plant sir, or posses magical properties?" she asked. "Because after my musical theatre classes I use Lavender, sage, rosemary or pine" she declared. That was actually a true fact. It has been proven to relax aching muscles withing your feet. "Or peppermint" she added as an after thought.

"Professor is Chamomile one?" Simon wasn't sure about the answer, he just had this voice in his head telling him to say it.

Ainra raised her hand. "My friend used Marshmellow root herb to soothe her feet once." She said.

Evelyn really had no clue. A plant or herb that soothes feet? Really? Glancing over at Destiny when she answered, the Slytherin thought about it for a moment before smiling. She had no clue what soothes feet, but it was worth a try.

"What about ginger?" she asked after raising her hand. Yes, complete guess. Everyone else was naming off random stuff...Pfft, she was going to say chamomile, but someone already mentioned it. Pssh.

Chris knew this one. He raised his hand excitedly to answer his new favorite Professor's question. "Professor Dodson, Copaiba Balsam is a herb that can treat inflammation and atheletes foot! I know gross right?!" he chuckled excitedly. He was soo happy for the mans first class.

Keeley went blinked her bright green eyes excitedly. She kneew the answer! Weell, not exactly. But she did know a plant that soothed you in a bath! Perhaps a footbath? Well, she didn't know andy other thing, so this would have to work. "Umm... would witch hazel help feet?"

Cadence raised her hand again. "Well, professor, anything that helps release tension would help soothe feet, right? So what about massaging them with peppermint oil?" she said with a smile. Hey! It was worth a shot!
