Hawken appeared in the doorway with Kay clinging to his elbow. “Common. It’s not going to be that bad. You could have brought Pierre if you wanted…” Probably would have had a better time with him too. “I just wish I knew if Amber was going to be here…I think Tag said he was coming.”

HE tugged at his tie feeling a bit underdressed. Perhaps he should have worn formal robes not that he owned any. He’d have had to rent them and the shop was probably out anyway. “I’m thinking we should get some punch.”

Yep…Hawk was babbling. Why exactly he was so nervous – who knew?

It seemed that all it took was just one little hello from Sage and Lexi's nervousness was already easing away. Later, long after the ball was over, she'd probably mentally scold herself for being so nervous in the first place. There was absolutely no reason at all for her to feel that way, even if she hadn't seen most of her old classmates on over ten years.

An awkward silence was just about to set in, when Sage finally found enough courage to comment on her dress. "Thanks, Sage. You..." look like your pants need to be a little bit longer "...look nice, yourself," she said. Outside of the length of his pants, though, Sage really did look nice. He was her friend, and she'd never say anything to make him feel bad about himself. She smiled at him and added, "You really do."

She felt like hugging him for giving her that comment in the first place. She knew it had taken a lot of courage for him to say. She didn't hug him, though. Merlin, his whole face was already red! She didn't want to draw even more attention to the fact that he'd said her dress was nice.

"Thanks for being my date, Sage. It means a lot to me that you're here with me tonight. So---, where to now?" she asked. She peered over his shoulder and eyed the ballroom area. She didn't see anyone knew right off the bat. The ballroom looked like a sea of unfamiliar people. Or maybe there was just so many people here that it was hard to tell who was who. "There's a...hmm, a food table, a seating area, and a dance floor..."

His already scarlet face flushed a shade or four deeper when she complimented on his appearence and he mumbled a quick 'thanks.' He'd never been too good at compliments.

Lexi was still surveying the ballroom area and trying to decide where to go next, when Sage mentioned this being his very first ball---as in, ever. Her eyes flickered away from the dance floor, the main area she'd been scoping out, and she refocused her attention on Sage.

He'd...never...been to a ball before? Now that she thought about it, though, Sage was so awkward and so shy that he really didn't seem like the type to have been to very many social outings like this one. Suddenly, Lexi was even happier that she and Sage had come to the ball together. She was glad to be able to share this 'first' with him.

She smiled warmly at him and said, "It's alright, Sage. I've been to lots of these type events, so I'll help you out. You don't even have to tell anyone else this is your first ball unless you just want to. It'll be our little secret." This meant the dance floor was out---for now, at least. She wouldn't dare drag him out on the dance floor right off the bat.

"Let's try the seating area first, hmm? We can sit and talk for a little while before we make the rounds," she said. She grabbed him by the hand and gently tugged him away from the entrance hall and toward the seating area.

Wearing his awesome, attention-grabbing polka-dotted suit, Jimbo walked over to the Entrance Hall on his OWN. No one else. Just him.
He was thinking about asking someone before, but who exactly would he have asked? He assumed Monty was going with Aaron and Leilani must have someone as well, right? Why wouldn't she, a girl like her.

And without those two as options Jimbo couldn't even begin to think of anyone else he'd like to bring. And coming on his own seems so much FUNNER. So he walked with confidence, in his crazy suit. Everybody was so dressed up it was giving him eye-strain. He didn't exactly like the fancy dress of this whole scene. Which is why he wore the polka dots. Fancy, but not formal. Well...not EXACTLY.

There was a crowd at the Entrance Hall and it made him cringe. He would have walked right past everyone but there was a group of girls blocking half the entrance. That would have been just fine but he noticed it was Monty and two other girls he didn't recognize. Well, he found Monty, but she seemed preoccupied...where was Leilani? Maybe he should wait for her? Or maybe she was inside? Or outside? *sigh*

This might just take forever.

Kay was still pouting about the whole ordeal. Well to her, going to this Alumni Ball without Pierre was an ordeal. Her husband opted to stay in France with the twins (excuse me, we have a nanny and the Fraises!) and because of something to do with him needing to be there for some important business transaction.

"Pierre should be here," Kay mumbled softly to Hawk. "He promised and at the last minute backed out. He even gave me these expensive earrings and bracelets as a way to say sorry." Yes, she was repeating herself . . . again.

"Tag said that Amber was coming? I don't recall her mentioning that the last time we spoke." Kay shrugged her shoulders and took a deep breath. "I guess that we should put on a happy front and pretend to enjoy ourselves tonight."

She patted Hawk's hand and smiled. "Relax. I'll quit complaining if you quit babbling. Deal?"

Before Hawk could answer, she noticed a familiar curly head of hair.

"Hawken, is that Tag over there? Who is he speaking to?" she asked casually and craned her neck to see if she could make out the woman's features.

Kay was repeating herself. It wasn’t unusual for the woman. One to many bludgers to the head over the years would cause that. It was just one of the many results of being a long-time quidditch player. Then again, Kay always was a bit nutters. Tag would certainly attest to that. Hawken was just the last minute replacement for Kay’s husband, and he simply chalked it up to his managerial duties, not because he was probably the only man she knew how was coming to the ball without a date.

“hmm…Tag? Where?”

Well Tag being here would explain why the man had raided his closet for a tie. “The girl? Don’t know her. She’s kinda cute though.” He caught the look Kay was giving him. “Um…for a younger lady.”

"Do you two mind if I walk in with you, tonight I am a date-less wonder?," He blushed, he had been so excited about the ball, he had forgot the most important part, a date. But hey this way he could dance with everyone and hurt no ones feelings!

She took out a small piece of parchment from a hidden compartment in her shoe, this wasn't her first rodeo.. she knew exactly what to do. "Okay.. we need to wait until everyone's arrived.. then the fun begins." Hehe.

Turning around, Lani noticed one of the coolest looking monkey-suits she'd ever seen. Leilani grinned and ran up behind the mysterious suit wearer who happened to be Jimbo and tapped him on the shoulder. "Well look who it is!" she commented, giggling afterwards.

It seemed like she hadn't seen him in forever!! .... Mabey it had been forever?? Oh well. She could see him now.

Oops, now it was his turn to blush. "Thanks," he said as she wiped her lipstick off his lips. "What would I do without you always looking out for me?" Probably walk around looking like a fool, that's what.

He chuckled a little when he heard what her trouble was. "Haha, I should have figured it was a fashion problem." He never would understand women and their obsession over shoes. "Well, your sister has good taste in shoes, they look very nice on you." Oh heck, who was he kidding, they looked fantastic on her, her whole outfit was fantastic. All other women paled in comparison to Hadley. Yes, he had the most beautiful date of the night.

"Shall we go in?" he asked holding his arm out to her.

Maddox, slightly annoyed but very happy, pulled Lima's hand towards the Entrance hall. "Darling, you look gorgeous! Especially after just having a baby only a month ago." He stopped, and pulled her into a hug. He knew she was still a bit self-concious, but she really didnt need to feel that way. She was amazingly beautiful in her long black dress. He couldn't keep his eyes off of her. ~~Let alone his hands.~~

"I promise, you are the most beautiful woman here tonight." He smiled, and kissed her forehead.

Lima frowned a little as she was being dragged towards the ball. She got that he was excited like she was, but it was hard for her to walk in her heels. She would forgive him because she loved him. "You really think so?" That made her happy because she had been trying hard to lose weight again. She hadn't wanted to look fat in her dress so she had been hitting the gym a lot.

"I hope I am the most beautiful every night." She giggled. She wanted to be told that she looked that good.

They seemed to be the safest, and she did look nice, not as much as Mina. "Now, if you don't mind me taking my date--" There was no way he was letting Violet know that he and Mina were friends. Might as well work as she thought she was his girlfriend. Suited him better, and hopefully would allow him to take a breather. "--inside, see you later. With Dillon, your date." Clear enough? He thought so. Without waiting for a reply, he smiled briefly and walked in the Great Hall with Mina, his mood returning.

Mina could help by blush at the words Evan was saying. Every girl liked to hear such things, but she had a hard time believing the works nonetheless. She wanted to believe them, but it was rather embarrassing to tell herself that maybe Evan was right and she was all those things and he thought the words true as well.

Standing to the side, she shrugged. She wasn't about to really allow Violet to ruin her mood. She was there to have fun with Evan and no one would ruin it now. It was probably for the best that she kept her mouth shut for the time being. Besides, it was often best to just kill someone with kindness and not stoop to their level. Evan had it under control anyway.

Taking his arm again, she leaned into him and followed him in. Glancing back, she smiled. "Nice seeing you again, Violet." she called out as they walked through the doors. Looking over at Evan, she shook her head, a small smirk on her face. "Well, you handled that rather well." Masterfully done actually, she actually found some amusement in watching him handle that. She knew very well what he was doing and she would do her part to help him. She knew very well, she was there as his friend and not a true date. It didn't bother her all that much that it wasn't a true date, she could live with being Evan's friend, even if Violet thought differently.

Well, that made her feel better. She smiled as he kissed her. He was wonderful really. hehe. She wondered why he was grinning at her like that though. He had better not be making fun of her because of her height because that was not cool.

"Well, you just earn yourself more points in my good books," and that was great place to be really. Because it made her feel better about her weight. Tag's eyes had nearly returned to normal size when he heard someone calling his name. He caught sight of a tuft of blonde hair bobbing along above the milling guests. "Hawk, over here!," he called, a grin sprouting up on his face. He'd only recently discovered the identity of Hawk's date. Incessant ribbing ensued. Kayleen Harrison--married woman, slightly kooky, and one of his own Quidditch players. What was funny to Tag was that Hawk didn't really like big parties, and now here he was, with someone who wasn't even romantically available. Could you call it a date if the person was married? To someone else?

Armed and ready with a teasing expression, Tag watched them approach for about 2 seconds before he got a good look at Kay. His jaw dropped. Apparently twins and a life of hard athletic career hadn't gotten a number on her. She was terribly gorgeous, bedecked in sparkling jewelry and a slinky dark dress. Still off, probably, but gorgeous just the same. He swallowed. "How's it going, you two? . . Kay," he nodded, bowing just slightly. "You look- lovely. Oh, and you too, Hawk," he winked.

He turned to introduce his new acquaintance. "Hawken, Kayleen, I'd like you to meet Miss--uh--er. . . " Dang it. Had she told him her name?

Maddox grinned. "YAY good book points!" He chuckled, and then gently stroked her cheek. He was so completely happy with her, and the life they had. It was wonderful. Especially with their son. River was their world. This was their first night away from him, and he knew Lima would be itching to call his mother at some point.

Maddox rolled his eyes at that comment. "Which also means, I know what looks good. And baby......" he pushed her away from him about a foot, and gave her a once, twice, and third over, "...you look mighty fine." He grinned, and then noticed that there was a picture of the two of them behind her from when they first got together, and grinned more.

"Yes, points. Now you just need to be good and not lose any." She patted him on the arm and wished that he wasn't so tall. It meant that she couldn't ruffle his hair unless he bent down. "You think he's alright now?" she added randomly asked. She couldn't help it. It was hard for her to leave him.

She rolled her eyes as he looked her over like that. "You're supposed to say that. It's your job." But she still smiled because she liked hearing it. He should do that more. "And what are you grinning at?" Because she had no idea really.

Oh Merlin's underpants, why did she decide to come to this place again?

Valentine doubted that she would even see anyone she knew as she walked into the entrance, and looked up and down. It all seemed to much the same. Same walls... same doors. Well she knew they couldn't just get new walls, but it just seemed to much the... the same. It was defiantly eerie.

Although she couldn't really be one to talk. Valentine looked a little more mature since the time she left. Her dark black hair now replaced by white blond locks, almost down to her waist. Yet her face was still covered in dark eye makeup, and metal jewelry going through her lips and nose. Also managed to put a dress on, albeit nothing too fancy. A short sleeveless dress, just plain black with a little while fringe on the bottom.

Well let's get this over with. Valentine took a deep breath, continued on as she wondered why she even bothered coming.

They totally could've semi-matched if she had worn her white dress like previously planned. But that wasn't what was on her mind at the moment. The fact that she matched Josh was though...

"Oh I know." she nodded, looking through the giant doors to see the decorations they had put up. Everything looked brilliant of course. "And hopefully none of it gets ruined." she added at the end before looking back to the two Gryffindors.

Hmm? Dateless wonder? Patroclus? He didn't have a date? "Well, of course you can." she said, the smile reappearing on her face once again before looking at Josh. "Right?"
