Heheheh. It was so ridiculous. Everyone had named all possible modes of communication but the most obvious. Cavemen, all of them. Freeman raised his hand.

"Professor. . . wizards talk."

He could totally argue that talking required magic. Especially talking to girls. That required a miracle.
Fallon rolled her eyes at the boy. "They're actually not that hard to walk in once you get used to it. I even ran all the way here." That was the end of that. Fallon was no longer talking to this boy about her amazing choice in foot wear.

Fallon smiled at Professor Carlton. Patronuses were really interesting and Fallon always wanted to learn one just to see what hers would be.

Quidditch game... She tried to rack her brain. She raised her hand again. "Well, at a quidditch game a person might use signs or banners to show what team they're supporting." It wasn't an exact answer, but it was a form of communication.

Anyyyyway. "Oh.. and sound! Sound is very, very effecfive especially with lots of people. And um.. sight as in posters, flags, banners. The bigger it is, the more attention and therefore the better your message will be gotten across.

Luna understood when he placed his finger on his lips. Class had started and she didn't want to lose points for the Ravvies. When he answered the question that the Professor asked she smiled. Why didn't I think of that? she thought. It was so obvious. She didn't know why but she found this boys way of following the rules quite charming. Trying to get her head out of the clouds she looked up and payed attention.

She raised her hand. "We could make banners with messages to show our support also if there were cheerleaders in a Quidditch game there could be a special cheer for the team" she said which was very true.

"By acts of hoolinaginsims" Abbi quirked a brow thats probably not even a word so she smiled at the Professor for the small poopie she made, then tried to explain what she tried to say, "by being .. eh... wild; scream and use their body to show support".

Zane raised his hand in response to Professor Carlton's question. "Wizards can charm banners, their clothes, or even shoot letters into the air."

"Well at the Quidditch World Cup there were fans with fake wands that emitted sparks in the color of that country's flag and little sparkles that spelled out the country's name while emitting the names of the players. These wands were also painted in the colors of that country's flag." Okay, so that wasn't something they could make in class but it was a way to magically show what team you supported.

Mina thought a moment about just how one could use magic and raised her hand. "Well, once I used charmed paint to paint a mascot on my face to support a team," she offered. It was quite good in her opinion and rather realistic and all.

Alex rose her hand again, "Witches/Wizards can make magical banners by painting letters on it then charming it to change between the colors of their team and then having a picture of their team's sign or they're favorite player displaying underneath the letters.." Alex stated, she liked to explain her ideas after all.

Two-way mirrors...can be used if the person you're trying to communicate with has the other mirror," she said.

"Now, let's get a little more specific with certain types of communication. Think about this for a moment. What are some ways a person can show support for their favorite Quidditch team?" she asked. His heart started yammering in his chest as Professor Carlton walked over to him. She smelled like warm cupcakes. He tried to keep that stupid expression of his face that puppy dogs had when they were begging for a strip of bacon, but he wasn't sure he was achieving that. He nodded vigorously as she told him he had a good answer. "You can wear underwear with the team colors," he blurted out with a raised hand, and then he flushed so red his hands blushed that he said underwear in front of Professor Carlton. He shrank down in his chair just wishing he could sink into the floor.

Lexi smiled at the young Stuart boy. He was a quite a character, that one. "Yes, wizards do talk," she said, her voice and expression showing that she was definitely amused by his response. "Today's lesson, though, relates more to something only wizards and witches will be able to do."

"Wouldn't most people make, like, banners or something to show their support? Like, out of a large piece of parchment or fabric. You could use charms to animate the message on the banner."

Iris nodded to herself a little, and sank into her seat.
"Team colors...hmm, that's getting close to the theme of today's lesson," she said. A second later, though, Iris said exactly what Lexi had been looking for, even though she didn't call the charm by name. "Changing color...you're on to something there."

"Thank you, Captain Underwear," Lexi playfully replied. "Anything you can do to support the team is just fine...if you like wearing underwear on the outside of your clothes, that is." She smiled at Dillon to let him know she was just playfully replying to his answer and meant no harm.

"The Paint Flashing Charm---that's what we're going to be learning and working with today. As a lot of your classmates mentioned, this charm is typically used on banners, such as the ones you see at Quidditch matches, to show support for your favorite team," she said. She stayed quiet for a moment as she moved from one side of the classroom to the next.

"The charm does just as its name suggests. It charms paint to flash a variety of different colors. It's a real attention getter at those Quidditch mathes," she pointed out. "The charm, of course, doesn't have to be used at a Quidditch match, though. I'm sure if you think hard enough, you can come up with many different uses for the charm. Today, though, we're going to focus on its use in creating flashy banners."

"Wands out, for those of you who haven't already taken yours out. Now I haven't given you anything to practice on yet, but I will soon. We're going to work on the incantation and wand movement first," she said. She raised her wand into the air, ready to demonstrate the charm.

"The incantation for the charm is Colorus Fulgeo, and the wand movement is a tap on the color you want to change...and with your wand still pointed toward the desired object...one complete circle to the right then one complete circle to the left," she said, her wand waving through the air to demonstrate each motion as she talked about it. "For example, if I wanted the red color on a picture to flash gold, I'd tap the red color, swish my wand in a circular motion to the right...then to the left...and say, Colorus Fulgeo red to gold!"

"Now, take a few moments to practice the charm. Just pretend you have something nice and painted in front of you and get a feel for the incantation and wand movement," she instructed.

Alex blinked before doing as she uh instructed getting a feel for the odd wand momvement first. She pulled out her twisty cherrywillow wand and tapped her.. paper before moving it in a full circle to the right and tehn left making sure her wand was still pointed at her parchment. She did this a few times before chanting out, "Colorus Fulgeo White to Green." She said it correctly a few times glancing around. She didn't attempt the spell yet waiting to until Zane tried first.

Emma had been unusally quite today for the first part of class. She had been taking a lot of notes. Her notes looked like this:
The Paint Flashing Charm
incantation: Colorus Fulego
Wand movement: tap on the color you want to change the object, with your wand still pointed toward the desired object. Then one complete circle to the right then one complete circle to the left.
use: It charms paint to flash a variety of different colors.

Emma grinned and put her quill down. Then she got out her wand. Ooh, colours! She loved colours! No doubt that this would become her favourite charm! She said. "Colorus Fulego red to green!" She then repeated it several times over, until it was in her head. Next, was wand movements. She her green snake and then tapped the desk. She then completed one circle to the right and one to the left. She smiled as she perfected it. It was quite easy, but putting it all together would be another challenge.

Awesomeeee!

Destiny had already thought of about three things she could do with this spell. Like..she could soooo change Evelyn's bed sheets to flash Huffie colors. HA! Imagine the look on her friend's face when she wakes up to THAT!

Pulling out her wand, she too held it up, to show the Professor she had come prepared. She watched intently at the demonstration, and when she was given the okay to practice, she didn't hesitate. She WOULD master this spell.

Because it was sooo COOL!

"Colorus Fulgeo. Colorus Fulgeo." she repeated aloud a few times.

At least the incantation wasn't too hard. Something she could easily remember.

She gave a tap to an imaginary object, and with a complete circle to the right and one to the left, she, once again, said the incantation only she added the colors to it this time, "Colorus Fulgeo green to yellow." She smirked in Evelyn's direction afterwards.

Mwahaha!

And he could feel his toes blushing as she called him captain underwear. If a hippogriff swooped into the classroom he would jump on its back and fly out in a flash. He couldn't believe he had told Professor Carlton that you should wear team underwear.

He smiled weakly at her when he realized she was pulling his leg. He still wasn't any less embarrassed.

He went to work on his charm as he tried to make himself calm down from his utter embarrassment.

Watching and listening to the Professor he had to keep calm. This spell sounded really cool and he couldn't wait to use it for real. But what would they get to use it on?! Oh banners, would he get to keep his awesome banner?!

Ok so just the movement and incantation first? Pulling out his wand the Head Boy made a clockwise circle and then a counterclockwise circle and then said, "Colorus Fulgeo." confidently. He didn't use any colors though because he wasn't changing anything now. He would definately need to try this on his room when he got home this summer.

Charmness. This was AWESOME. Hehe.
Miranda listened to the Professor, squinting, and watched how she moved her wand around and shouted that...long incantation. Hmmmm... "Professor?" She raised her hand, "What's the longest incantation known to Wizards...do you know?" Hehehe.

While waiting for an answer, Miranda gripped her wand firmly in her hand and swung the thing around, one full circle to the right and then the same but to the left. "Coloruuuuusssss FULGEOOOOOOO!" Loud and proud and...loud. Hopefully this would help when they later had to actually make things change colors. Hehehe.

Fallon smiled. What on earth could we be learning that has to do with Quidditch banners?!

Her question was soon answered by the professor. That is so cool! She really liked the idea of this charm. She could have soooo much fun with this! She paid close attention to the incantation and wand movement (which seemed quite intricate). Soon, it was time to practice.

Fallon pulled her wand out. "Colorus Fulgeo." She said as she moved said as she tapped her wand before she moved it in one full circle to the right and one to the left. "Colorus Fulgeo." The wand movement didn't seem so complicated in practice. After a few more tries, she decided it was best to add in the color. "Colorus Fulgeo green to silver." Hehe. Slytherin colors. She kept practicing until the Professor said that they could move on.

Kylie unholstered her wand, a little upset with herself that she hadn't answered any of the Professors questions. It was
1) Very unlike her.
2) Kind of lame, considering she could have gotten points for it.
Regardless, she loved charms. She was good at charms. And having a charms class today brightened her day considerably.

Kylie began practicing as the Professor had indicated to do, she'd studied this spell in theory before at her grandmother's house... as she had many other spells. She copied the professor exactly, tapping (in the air, of course, nothing to cast on!) the imaginary color, a circle to the right, a circle to the left... "Colorus Fulgeo orange to yellow." They weren't Hufflepuff colors exactly. But, she really just liked those colors today. Bright. Happy. Open.

Very much like Kylie.

She continued this practice a few more times before raising her hand, "Professor, would it be possible to have a banner change between more than two colors? For instance, if one were to say... 'Colorus Fulgeo red to orange to yellow to green to blue to indigo to violet?'"

Rainbow colors. In order. She was just wondering...

Freeman felt a twinge of pity for the boy named Captain Underwear.

It passed just as quickly.

"You really. . . wear your team colors? Underneath?," Freeman said, amused. Ridiculous. Team spirit was a mystery to him. People getting all frothy at the mouth, sweaty, shovey, frenzying just for a game created to entertain during leisure time. Now, if money was at stake. . . that he could understand.

Ugh. The Paint Flashing Charm. No doubt a valuable skill he would use time and time again in all aspects of life from this moment on. Displeased, Freeman raised his wand hand and followed the instructions exactly. "Colorus Fulgeo black to grey," he said, lip curling.

Paint flashing charm?

Now how cool was that?!!

Now her pictures didn't have to stay one boring color all the time. Well, boring, and holographic. However, she had forgotten that spell long ago. Dangit. It would've been incredibly neat if she was able to combine all those spells, including the one she figured out for making the pictures move slightly. At least that one she didn't forget.

"Colorus Fulgeo." she mumbled to herself as she pulled out her wand. Hmm, which color to which? "Colorus Fulgeo silver to green." Teehee. She was sooooo using this spell at the Quidditch championship game, of course, cheering for Slytherin. WOOOOT!

The wand movement however, was a whole different story than just saying the spell. It was incredibly confusing. So, it was a tap, and a circle to the....left? No, the right. Then the left. Or was it...left, then right? No, right to left. Right to left! Got it. "Colorus Fulgeo silver to green." she said, trying to practice the wand movement. It was shaky and definitely needed improvement, but at least she had to basics of it down.

Weird wand movement.

OOC: Remember, this is the Paint Flashing Charm, so it only works on paint. The incantation Lexi taught in class one---Colorus Revolvo ____ (color)---is the Color Changing Charm that works on just about anything.

"Hmm?" Lexi asked, spinning around to face the Hufflepuff Quidditch captain. "Oh, well, let's see...I believe it'd be supercalifragilisticexpialidocious." At least, according to Mary Poppins, it was. "Honestly, it's hard to tell. There are so many things you can add to current charms, such as the colors we just added to this one, that it would be hard to say any one incantation is the longest."

Lexi smiled at Miranda as she ever-so-loudly began practicing the incantation. Nothing wrong with a little enthusiasm, nope. Nothing at all.

Then in order to use four colors, you'd need to first master using just three," she explained. "Otherwise, the charm won't be very long-lasting and will likely fade quickly. You can most definitely work your way up to many colors, though."

OOC: You may continue practicing the wand movement and incantation for the charm. I'll post again in the morning when I wake up.

Gold raised a hand. "I wore a charmed hat to a match, last term," she said, cheerfully. "Lion hat. We can wear robes, caps, watches and stuff - accessories, in general - that bear the team symbol or mascot. Oh, and there's face-painting. To show support."

Like she had had her cheeks painted, at the World Cup. AND! Too late. Gold lowered her hand, and grinned at the fact that Professor Carlton had chosen this very moment to move on. Oopsies.

Oh. Gold knew this charm. Obviously. But she still gave the incantation a shot. Tap, point, circle to the right, circle to the left, Colorus Fulgeo Gold to Ted. It had sounded pretty complicated, when Gold had first attempted to learn it; but, once you got the hang of the wand movement, it was smooth sailing all the way to the short.

She raised a hand. "Professor, I already know the incantation. If it's okay, can I help people who're having trouble, instead?"

Gold raised a hand. "If we have robes that are fabric-painted though, ma'am, I assume it would work on them?" She asked, politely. Come to think of it, she had never tried the Paint-Flashing Charm on fabric-painted cloth, or clothes. She had mostly used it for banners.

But now she had something new on her mind, for experimentation.

Yep!

Mina smiled as she pulled her wand from its holster. Her example of face paint was liked. She's definitely have to use it again, maybe at the Championship match later in the term. Of course, she wasn't sure about who to root for and all, but she could decide that later. First things first, practicing and then teams later.

Looking at her wand, she silently recited the incantation in her head as she moved her wand in a circle to the right and then in a circle to the left. It wasn't all that hard, but she kept doing it.

Colorus Fulgeo
Complete circle to the right.
Complete circle to the left.

Colorus Fulgeo
Complete circle to the right.
Complete circle to the left.

Pretty circle right. Pretty circle left.

Practicing a bit more, she smiled and turned back to the desk before her. Imaginaing a painting before her, she aimed her wand and cast "Colorus Fulgeo Blue to Bronze" as she tap the imaginary painting and moved the wand in a pretty little circle to the right and then in a pretty little circle to the left.

Oh this was going to be a fun charm for her.
