Selena nodded again. She was learning a lot. Maybe it was a good idea she came to this thing? "This may be a bit rude but..." Selena started as she bit her bottom lip, "why won't you go inside and dance with someone?" she asked before her face flushed pinkish. Because Miss Aveira was pretty and all, but no one was asking her to dance!

Eight years... that was a long time... Selena was just three years older than that. "You're probably right," Selena sighed. She couldn't even find a date for her friend and she hadn't been asked to dance yet, how was she supposed to help Miss Aveira get a dance partner? Selena pouted though. Rawrs!

He was starting to get annoyed b her tugging at him like this. Why couldn't she just leave him alone? He didn't want to go back in there. "Cadence, I will not go back in there now. I can't." He wanted to go in there with Miranda because she was helping him feel better and said she would keep people from laughing at him.

And now she was looking at him with panic. "What's wrong?"

At least someone here was alright even if it wasn't him.

"Can't say I am really." He shrugged at her. At least he ws feeling a little bit better.

Right. They would forget about the bearded man that Torin had never heard of. There were other things to worry about.

"I don't want Brody to know. She might laugh at me." And he couldn't take that. It would be worse than if anyone else laughed at him.

And now he heard someone else calling his name. People kept coming to see him now.

"Hey, Nancy," he called out as he watched the girl. He wondered if she had laughed at him too.

Aveira smiled triumphantly, but, honestly, it wasn't much of a good thing for her to win, that point of their conversation. "Hey, you could at least pretend it's plausible," she replied, laughing slightly.

Selena sighed. Pretend... okay... she was good at that... "Okay then," she said with a grin, "Miss Aveira is bound to get a dancing partner!! You shouldn't say that!!" Selena said with too much enthusiasm before cringing. She sounded so... preppy... so... girly. Ewh. "I just scared myself," she sighed. Again. Third time this month.

Leilani burst out the door into the cold, night air. Good. It ws dark. She walked towards an empty bench, far off from everybody else and sat down. Nobody needed to see her face right then. Or watch her cry. And silently, cry she did.

Lani curled up on the end of the bench, her shoes (or by then shoe) in hand. It was just like what happened last time. Almost exactly like what happened last time. She wouldn't hide anymore. She wasn't going to be afraid.

"Nice try," Aveira replied, grimacing slightly. She sounded just like Priya... who she desperately hoped wasn't there... "You get brownie points for the effort, poppet, but nothing else, really."

Selena pouted. "I don't like brownie points, I like brownies," she pointed out with a smile, "you can actually eat brownies, brownie points, not so much," she said. She had a feeling she scared Miss Aveira as well. She gave a glance around. It sure was pretty here. Then she saw Miss Leilani. The girl who made her attend this. Except, she seemed so sad... "Excuse me, Miss Aveira, I will be but just a moment because my friend seems kinda sad," Selena excused herself and curtsied before walking over to Leilani.

"Leilani, are you alright?" Selena said softly as she hugged her friend. Hugs were free. And they made people feel better.

Leilani turned to see Selena hugging her. She smiled weakly replying, "I will be." Now there's an attitude her Mama'd be proud of. You go get 'em baby girl! she heard her mother saying. And she would. Lani'd make her Mama proud.

Carter smiled at Mina. "Oh, I'd call that much more than 'cleaning up quite well'." he said to her. "You want a drink." he asked holding out a cup of punch to her.

"I'm having a great time." he said. "Whoever made this pond did a great job. What about you? Are you having fun?" he asked her.

He then noticed her expression changed all of sudden. Looking around he saw Evan and Marie. "She said they were friends again." he told her. Then he saw him grab her. Uhh.. that wasn't something he should worry about, right?

She then glanced over at Aveira. "Do you want to meet some new people?" Selena asked her. Aveira was nice, maybe she should meet Leilani. It was always good to meet new people. She smiled at Aveira. Nice tall people, there was a surprising amount of them at this ball.

Mina blushed ever so slightly and shook her head. Really the boys tonight must be seeing things. "It's the dress isn't it?" she laughed. It had to be the dress, she was pretty much the same girl as she always was. The dress was getting the attention, it just had to be the reason for sure. Seeing the offered cup, she nodded and took it. Sipping from it slowly, she then set it down. "Thank you, I was a bit parched before." Dancing with a few friends must have done that to her.

She nodded and smiled. "Why thank you, it does look better than I envisioned it for sure." she grinned. It was after all her baby of the project. It was probably the one thing she really wanted to see in the garden. "I'm having a great time actually, kind of wondering where my date ran off to though," she added with a shrug.

Listening to Carter, she still couldn't really turn her eyes away from it. "Well, it's nice to know they can still be friends and all," she voiced as she attempted to look away and back at Carter. Seriously, she didn't want to go through this again with him and hoped it wasn't what it looked like.

This was supposed to be the part where Leilani curtsied or something to show respect for her elders.

"Wait. You did this?" he asked looking around. "Wow Mina. That is incredible." he said to her. It seriously looked amazing.

"Oh yeah?" he asked. "Who did you come with?" he asked wondering who her date was. He'd have to meet him.

He looked back over to Marie and Evan. Yup. Just friends. Friends whose faces were mere centimeters from each others. he thought as he dropped his drink and his eyes widened. Friends who hold hands and look into each other's eyes...

Leilani stood up next to Violet and bowed her head in respect. "Hello ma'am." She greeted. "How are you this evening?" when it came to manners, Lani was practically stuffed with them. Growing up, her parents often invited many people over. She was taught to respect anybody older than you and to chew with your mouth closed. Hehe.

Mina smiled and let out a soft laugh. Carter had a point, it was more enjoyable to have someone bring her a drink. "Well, thank you again. I actually like it out here," she smiled. It was really enchanting sitting out there.

"I didn't do it all alone, but the pond was the one thing I really put my heart into." she smiled. "Thanks, it really came together beautifully, didn't it?" she blushed slightly. She really wasn't going to get used to getting praise from her friends. It was just strange after everything that had happened and all.

Looking at the water in the pond, she bit her lip slightly. Carter was her friend and she had a feeling he wouldn't be all that happy with her choice of date, but it was her choice after all. Looking back at him, she took a slow sip of her punch and set it back down. "I came with Evan."

Just as the words left her lips, she felt some liquid on her dress and jumped up. There was punch on her dress now and her eyes went back to where Carter was looking....Evan and Marie.

Great! She had punch on her dress and her date was staring into the eyes of his ex and holding her hand. There just went her night.

Lyra tilted her head towards Robert. No use in looking at Christian for the moment as she knew the look he would be giving, the same one she gave to the groupies that hung around the locker rooms after a game. So they were a little protective over one another? It happened with beautiful people.

Lyra instantly gave a surprising look to Robert as she listened to the rest of his story. Quidditch right after school and...who was this Liz person that he kept speaking of? The only Liz she knew was eLIZabeth. "Before we go any further, who's Liz?" She loved being her nosy self as it was a way to gossip about people later.

And then Vannie grabbed her attention as she finally had the chance of meeting her very own Christian. "Of course I speak of you all the time, Vans. We are practically together all the time, almost joined at the hip." She couldn't help but giggle lightly. "Don't worry though, it's all good." She winked at her friend, clinging a little more to Christian.

"Christian is so busy winning the hearts of muggle football fans with his fancy footwork and handsome smile." Was that enough buttering up to the man she loved? She was thrilled at introducing the love of her life to her peers from school. "Actually Christian and I were walking around for a bit seeing those we have missed over the years, with the first stop of Professor V."

There was a voice calling out her name, a familiar voice she had not heard in...a short time. "Marco?" And there he was, the Marco she remembered seeing in Diagon Alley the summer before her last year. "My, my Marco. What have you been up too?" Small talk? A little. But with Marco, it was best.

Selena smiled at the two. "Miss Aveira's job is really interesting, she's thinking about transferring departments though," Selena said with a smile. Hehehe. Something just told Selena that the two didn't mix well together now.

Oh. A ministry employee. Of course. Leilani faked a smile and said, "Hmm, really? I didn't know it was possible to do that." Psh. Yeah she did. She was playing dumb. Only way to get around these people. Sigh.

Yeah. Leilani pretty much hated the ministry with a burning passion that only smashing glass could describe. Intense much? Yeah. Just a little bit.

Carter required a few seconds to regain his thoughts. Mina had come with Evan. And Evan and Marie were like that. He then realized he dropped his drink. And it spilled all over Mina.

"Oh, I am so sorry Mina." he said digging through his pockets for his wand. Retrieving it he waved away the mess. "I am so sorry about that." he said making certain to look only at Mina.

"I... I..." he said completely at a loss for words. Despite him trying his hardest his mind still wandered back to what he hoped was not actually happening.
