Kellen walked up the stairs to the owlery, a present for Mary Tsu tucked in his pocket. He knew he was only supposed to feed her pellets, and let her eat whatever prey the minuscule owl was able to catch, but she'd got into his sisters' room before coming to Hogwarts and taken a lick of a candy, and that was it. Seeing the candies stuck to the underside of the Ravenclaw table had reminded him of her sugar obsession, and she was no doubt grouchy at going without it for a few days.

It was easy to spot the little Boobook, nestled among owls five times her size, and he held out an arm for her after wrapping it with the leather cloth he'd brought along. Little owl, sharp talons. She fluttered down to him immediately, the same undignified look on her face as always, and he rolled his eyes, "You look like a bug-eyed guinea pig, did you know that? A poofy, feathered, twitterpated, bug-eyed guinea pig."

She hooted at him and ruffled her wing feathers as if to say, 'I know, I'm gorgeous.'

"Oh, you're something alright," was his response, fishing the candy from his pocket. "Now, it's a hard candy so you'll have to eat it in piec--"

Chomp! That candy was gone! Kellen stared at her, about to snap that she could have taken off a finger, when he saw her eyes go larger than normal and she sent him an 'oh dear, this might be bad' look. She bobbed her head up and down, her beak open and her tongue starting to poke out of her mouth.

"Are you kidding me?! My owl is choking on a peppermint?!" Kellen stared at her for a few seconds, and finally he had a solution. Mary was probably expecting mouth-to-mouth, if her past devotion to Kellen and hatred of other female animals was any indication, but what she got was something much less romantic; the Heimlich, owl style.

Kellen wrapped a hand around her from the back, tipped her so she was facing up, and pushed down on her feathery belly with his fingertips. The peppermint shot into the air and stuck to the underside of a roost with a faint shpuck! that sent three owls irritably fluttering to another perch. He watched the mint for almost a minute, sure it would fall, but no. That thing was stuck there.

He looked down at Mary. She was giving him an even more adoring look that usual, 'you just saved my life!'. "You're ridiculous. From now on it's Pixie Sticks or nothing."

"Hoot."

"I'll bet Chaucer doesn't have problems with his raven..."

Esmerelda entered the owlery and looked around at the owls. The owlery reminded her of the owl shop in Diagon Alley; an owl flapping its wings every now and then, bright eyes following her movement. She lookecup and finally found the owl she was looking for. She held out her arm and said softly, "Selena." A white owl swooped down and landed on Esmerelda's arm. Selena nipped Esmerelda's ear in a lovingly way and hooted. Esmerelda reached into her pocket and pulled out some pellets. She held them up for the owl and said while the owl ate, "Maybe you should go flying tonight. Stretch your wings." The owl looked at her, her head tilted slightly. Stroking her gently, Esmerelda carried Selena to the nearest window and the owl took off. She watched the white speck disappear into the sky then left the owlery.

Michelle entered the owlery with a tearstained face. Lokking around her, there were two more people, and she slid past them over to where Scruffington was waiting.

"Hey Scruff, did you miss me? I missed you lots...", she whispered in a shaky voice to her gorgeous snowy owl.

She gently stroked his feathers and slipped some food into his cage. As she watched him eat up all the snacks, tears welled up in her eyes. Remembering that there were people around, she tried to blink the tears away.

Jacob made his way up to the owlery to see Piper. She flew down to him as she saw him approach. They had really bonded in the weeks before school. Jacob had writen a letter to his mom, explaining he got sorted in to Ravenclaw. A lie, yes. But that's what she wanted - and she had made it very clear that she didn't want him in Slytherin...

He attached the note and gave Piper a pellet or two. She flew off, he wasn't sure how he was going to keep this lie up, he'd have to figure that out later.

Nina walked into the owlery with a letter in her hand. She couldn't wait to tell her parents all about the feast and the friends she already made. Following suit to other people, since she had never sent mail by owl before, she called Barney down from the highest window. She thinks he likes the hight, being so small himself. She tied the envelope around his leg and hesitantly led him to the window. He does know how to get to Mom and Dad, doesn't he??
"Well off you go." She said as she gave him a small rub on the neck and held her arm out. After watching him disappear, she gave an audible sigh and turned back to the castle.

Slowly and very carefully Allison walked in with her baby white elf owl in her hands. The poor thing was so tiny she had no need for anything to hold him with but her bare hands. He didn't even hurt her with his tiny claws.

Robin hooted once or twice at the sight of all the other owls and even Allison had to give it to him; there were too many and some didn't look to happy to be awaken. Avoiding any owl excrement Allison sat near the edge of the tower and kissed Robin's beak.

"You're a small one. However I got a small job for you. It won't be too hard. I doubt mum has even left Diagon Alley. She said you weren't good enough for letters. But I say she be wrong! So what say you meh dear? Let's prove meh mum wrong. I've got much to inform that evil lady."

Snickering Allison was about to attach the letter to his foot when Robin hooted in disdain and opened his beak. And that's where she was at loss. Although she did believe he could deliver the letter, she didn't believe he had a tough enough beak to hold onto it.

"Now now Robin. I dunno about that."

She really shouldn't have said that. Suddenly the bird was out of her hands and scurrying out the door. Yelping Allison got to ger feet and ran after him, "Hey! Yo! Roooooobin! You can't do that! Nuh-uh! No! Rooobbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbin!"

Robin was out the tower. And Allison yelling for him to stop, hurried down the stairs after him with letter in toll.

As Chelle stroked Scruffington's head, she noticed another guy walk upto his owl. He seemed pretty sweet, and his owl was sweeter! Michelle decided that it wasn't gonna do her any good to keep thinking about the incident that occured in her vacations. Besides, it only made her feel sad! Instead, she decided to talk to the guy.

"Hey there, your owl is so sweet!", she said. She actually felt that Scruffington was cute too, and snowy owls were her personal favourites, but the other one was sweet.

Jacob was surprised someone was talking to him, it seemed he was off to a bad start. First spilling pumpkin juice all over everyone at the feast and then getting into an argument with a stupid second year girl in the common room... he wasn't having the best luck. He shoved his hands into his pockets, "Hey, yea thanks. She's umm kinda a baby still."

He looked at her owl, her owl was way cooler - it was all white. His eyes got big, "Wow, is that yours?" He took a step towards her.

Thomas was going to start his third term. As usual like every term, that he was in Hogwarts he first visited the owlery before the common room. He just loved his gray owl, Jacky. He walked up to the bird petted her under her smooth soft chin. Thomas took out of his pocket a few owl pellets and put them in front of her. The owl ate only one pellet but slowly, she wasn't hungry and neither was he. Thomas petted his owl one last time and began walking out of the owlery.

Walking into the owlery - or rather running, although he didn't realise it - Adam ran a hand through his hair and paused in the doorway, looking around for the familliar Tawney owl. Feeling someone bump into him, Adam looked down and saw the kid from Diagon Alley, the one who'd called him Russian, or whatever it had been.

"Oi, watch were you're going mate," Adam said with a scowl down at him, his hand dropping from his hair and pulling a letter from his pocket.

Luna ran into the Owlery and clashed with two boys. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" she panted, and she placed a hand on her hip. "I'm looking for Yvaine, my snow owl..." she then mumbled, and she shifted her gaze through the Owlery. Then she saw her: Yvaine. She smiled widely and ran to her. "Hi sweetie!" she said with a bright grin. "You're beautiful, you know that." Yvaine looked at her with two dazzling gold eyes, and hooted. "Yeah." Luna stroked her white feathers and stuck her finger into her beak. She nibbled lovingly and flew onto her shoulder. "I swear. You're much heavier than when I bought you a few weeks ago." Yvaine hooted again and stroked her beautiful head against her ginger hair. "Yes, I love you too," Luna giggled. She looked into her pockets and took out some food for her owl. "Bon appetit," she mumbled with a smile, and she held her hand up.

Thomas felt someone bumping into him and rolled his eyes when he noticed how it was, "Oh, hi A-dumb, and just to tell you I didn't bump into you. You bumped into me okay!" This Russian boy was sometimes really irritating but this is just the way of life. "So how is it in Hogwarts?" Thomas asked with a sly smile.

"Hey there City!"Chelsea said too her owl. She patted it back,and fed it a treat, "You up for some trravel?"the owl,City hooted in response. "Good Boy."she siad handing him,a letter , filled with two pages worth of words. The script handwriting,sseen threw the page. She was a writer,or an aspiring writer,and when she got the chance she would write,out ,all she could. Until she realized she was rambling, The owl flew away in the sky. "Be good, City!"she hollered as it left. A silent hoot,being heard as she left the owlrey.

She had homework to do. That was true. Astronomy was not going to be waiting for her.

With Robin hooting on her shoulder, Allison entered the Owlery and stomped all the way in. Even though the anonymous letter had entertained her, at this point she didn't know what to think. Apart from her family, she didn't know anyone with magical blood who would send her a letter. And even though the letter had come from the family stack of letters, Allison did not recognize the writing.

Shrugging she turned to Robin and kissed his beak, "You see my ankles?"

Robin acted as if deaf and instead followed Allison mother's conjured butterfly with his eyes.

"I know you are acting as if you can't hear me. But you can! I got healed yesterday night. I'm all better, tomorrow I'll be able to take these ugly white wraps off. So remember: You. Did. This. To. Me. You owe me Robin."

Taking out a treat from her robes Allison handed it to him, "I'll come visit you when I get my mum's letter ready. Sleep well Robin...and eat well. None of this fighting with the other owls!"

Placing her hand on her shoulder, Robin jumped and pecked it lightly and flew to the roof top of the owlery, where it hooted next to a bigger version of himself. And just as quickly he closed his eyes and didn't give Allison a moment's thought.

Rolling her eyes Allison closed her robes from letting the cool late evening air hit her. Descending the steps, she wondered if she'd be able to finish her homework before she got angry with anyone else.

Chelle gave a tiny laugh. "Umm... yeah, that is my Scruffington! I know, strange name!", she replied, stroking his head. "By the way, I'm Chelle!" she held out her hand.

Jacob watched her owl a bit longer, "I don't think it's a strange name." He shrugged. She was a nice girl, he shook her hand. "I'm Jacob"

He waited a minute, there was an awkward silence. "Sooo... Umm, what house are you in?"

Nate wondered up to the Owlery. He himself didn't have an owl but he liked playing with other's owls. It also gave him time to think. How did he just fall for this wonderful girl so quickly? How could he assume Ella was just going to be ok with it? He couldn't but he did. He looked over the edge at the sun rising. He almost felt at peace with it. But he didn't feel at peace. He still had Ella's brothers watch and she still had his ring. He decided to write his mum and dad while he was here.

He used one of the school owls to send it off.

Cadence was wandering the school grounds and had decided go visit her owl Arya. She was quite surprised, however, when she found Nate there, watching an owl fly out the window. She snuck up behind him and then jumped on his back. "Hiya!" she said with a giggle.

"Hey." he said sort of sadly. He hoped her being here would make him happier but it wasn't seeming to. He was just stressed and concered about everyone's well being.

Something was wrong. He didn't seem happy to see her in the slightest. She slid off his back and stepped in front of him. Arya must have recognized her voice because just then, she flew down and landed on Cadence's shoulder. Cady stroked her owl absentmindedly. "What's wrong?" she said, with a concerned look at Nate.

"Nothing. Just I feel bad for dumping Ella then 5 minutes later going out with you. It's not about you at all. It's all time. And other stuff. Don't worry about it." he said shrugging and looking at the dirty floor.

"Oh..." Cadence said, turning away a little with tears in her eyes. She was sure that Nate was regretting his decision to get back together with. Was she about to get broken up with. She fed Arya an owl treat in order to keep herself busy, trying not to cry. Cadence knew last night had been too good to be true.

"Oh, Cad. What's wrong?" he said as he eyes filled with tears. He could see her fighting not to cry in front of him. "Caddy, I just feel bad for breaking up with her for falling for you."

Cadence still didn't look at him, but her voice cracked as she said, "So, what are you saying? That you don't think we should be together?" Arya flew off Cadence's shoulder and landed back on a perch some ten feet above them. She tucked her head under wing. Cadence continued to watch her, feigning some sort of fascination with her owl. In reality, though, her insides were squirming with nervousness.
