October. This meant that the kids from Hogwarts would all be swarming the village of Hogsmeade. And for the first time they would be allowed into the Hogshead.
Standing behind the bar and wiping a glass with a tatty and dirty looking rag, Samuel Huxley grimaced at the thought of kids invading his bar. But the other shopkeepers thought it would be good for business if they gave the kids coupons for free stuff at their shops.
He had been outvoted of course and so now he had to hand over free butterbeers. How does one make money by handing out free stuff?
THAT was the reason the little thirteen-year-old had stepped into the SCARY and CREEPY and FILTHY place. Ew. What exactly WAS she doing here anyways? There she had been, small and cute, fluttering around Hogsmade like a little butterfly when suddenly she had this ... IMPULSE to check this place out while her mind was telling her to run in the other direction.
But then, suddenly, checking the Hogs Head out seemed like a tiiiny adventure just waiting for her and ... here she was.
Beam.
With a dramatic flick of her hair, Madiison Winloch looked around the pub, crinkling her nose. EW. DUSTY. COUGH. COUGH. COUGH. So much DUUUUUST. Cough.
Caaarefully, as though there was danger in her every step -WHICH THERE WAS! She could SEE the spiders crawling around the place- the redhead made her way to the counter and SMIIIIIIILED up at the bartender.
Teehehehee.
GIGGLE. "Hello!" Smiiiiiiile.

Jake had to admit, it was quick thinking on Tibi's part to dash in here rather than the sweet shop or whatever. His heart racing as his annoyance tried to wane, Jake headed straight over to sit down at one of the tables and wait for Tibi to follow, rooting through his pockets all the while, looking for his free butterbeer coupon and some money to buy Tibi a drink.
Hopefully in here you couldn't tell how pale Jake looked, but the boy kept his face averted from anyone else in here.
Ugh. Some people were just able to bring out his ugleh side.

Lorcan led the way into The Hogs Head, still holding Lexi's hand. He glanced around and murmured; "This is a lovely spot." and gave her a lopsided grin.
Dropping her hand, he walked up to the rather forbidding looking barman and said "Two butterbeers please." He dug around in his money bag for the right money.
He glanced over his shoulder at Lexi, wishing he could do the Legeniwhatisit spell that he'd heard someone talking about and see inside her head. He might get half a clue what was wrong with her if he could do that.

The glass Samuel had been wiping was placed onto the counter with a loud thud as he peered down at the smiling little girl. Why was she smiling? No one smiled in the Hogs Head.
"What can I get for you?" he asked in a gruff voice. Samuel decided to just ignore the giggle maybe if he just got whatever it was she wanted then she would leave quickly.

Spotting another student enter the pub and make a beeline for one of the tables, Samuel glared in his direction. If the kid thought he was going to wait on him then he had another thing coming. If he wanted a drink then he could come up to counter and ask for one.

Two galleons? Lorcan thought, My wand only cost seven! He tried to keep his face impassive, but he had never been very good at that sort of thing. He handed the barman the money and realised that he had been snorting in Lexi's direction. He furrowed his brow, wondering if the man thought that he was being cheap by bringing her here. Cheap isn't the word I'd use, and he looked up at the man. "This was her idea you know, not mine." He said a little defensively. He knew exactly where he'd rather be at that moment in time. Back at school where there where fewer people.

Fourth Year Slytherin," she told him, pulling back her long dark brown hair. "Who are you?" she asked him back. Okay. The stuttering could get annoying too.
Thalia chuckled slightly when he leaned back in surprise. She was full of them. "Sorry about that," she apologize. Waving a hand in someone's face really annoyed some people. "I'm Thalia Munroe. Yeah. That was about all he could say at first, and then his manners belatedly kicked in. Flashing the girl a smile, Jake wondered what was keeping Tibi, but focused on the girl before him.
Zach had never been allowed in a bar before, or a pub for that matter. With his gold striped tie, tied into a tight bow, he held his white rabbit close to him while his top hat sat at his feet on the floor. .
Nursing a butterbeer, his blue eyes scanned around the room. Definitly not as glamorous as he imagined. Some time away from the big castle was appreciated though.

He looked down at the boy and was tempted to say more but quite frankly he couldn't be bothered. He already had the kid's money, he didn't need to get involved. Thank Merlin, they didn't seem to have one of those coupons. He was here to make money not give away free stuff.

Samuel vaulted the counter of the bar and strode over to the kid that was sitting on his own and drinking a butterbeer.
"Oi. You can't bring your own butterbeers in here. You have to buy one just like everyone else." He glared down at the boy, his nostrils flaring. "Where did ya get that from eh?" Probably from that squeaky clean pub down the road. The Three Broomsticks. Pfft...what a stupid name for a pub.
Oh now wasn't she the feisty one! Samuel's lip curled back into a sneer as he rested his hands on the counter and lent forward. "But I already have your money sweetheart and I ain't giving it back"
Pfffft... after growing up in the home she had this bloke didn't frighten her one bit. "Well, I suppose you aren't in need of anymore money then, are you? Because your attitude is despicable." she said to the man, without flinching at his scary little Elvis lip curl. Oh my Merlin, why did she even leave the castle today?

Samuel Huxley was always in the need for more money. With a resigned sigh he attempted to smile at the girl and her boyfriend. It sorta came out more like a grimace but it was a start.
He withdrew his wand from underneath the counter and pointed it at the nearest table and chairs. In a flash there was a nice tablecloth, a vase with a slightly wilted rose in the centre and the chairs moved outwards a touch.
Looking back at the couple in front of him, Samuel gave his head a sharp nod towards the table. "Is that better?" he asked directing his question towards the girl.

He withdrew his wand from underneath the counter and pointed it at the nearest table and chairs. In a flash there was a nice tablecloth, a vase with a slightly wilted rose in the centre and the chairs moved outwards a touch.
Looking back at the couple in front of him, Samuel gave his head a sharp nod towards the table. "Is that better?" he asked directing his question towards the girl.
Alexa smiled sweetly at the man and said, "See, it's not that difficult is it? Being...erm... nice. Thank you very much, sir." she said to the trying too hard to be creepy barman.
She turned to Lorcan and said, "Shall we?" Waiting for him to lead her to the table, like the gentleman he was.

Hmm. Madiison hadn't really thought about what she WANTED from the Hogs Head. Tapping her foot impatiently the girl peeeeeered up at the bartender, who was being rather RUDE by not smiling back at her, and tried to think about what she wanted from this fiiiilthy place.
And she could think of nothing. Absolutely nothing. She would NOT drink in that ... DISGUSTING glass, now would she? No, siiir. Imagine all the tiiiny dust particles entering her little body. MAJOR COUGH.
So the girl popped herself onto a stool (with a little trouble as she was so small) and took another look around the place.
CREEPY SPIIIIIIDER! "Could I haaaaaaaaaaave ..." Pause. "A butterbeer?" BEAM. She had the a voucher ... might as well use it.
"In a clean glass, please?" The red asked as her eyes fell on one PARTICULARLY dusty glass sitting behind the bartender.
Samuel vaulted the counter of the bar and strode over to the kid that was sitting on his own and drinking a butterbeer.
"Oi. You can't bring your own butterbeers in here. You have to buy one just like everyone else." He glared down at the boy, his nostrils flaring. "Where did ya get that from eh?" Probably from that squeaky clean pub down the road. The Three Broomsticks. Pfft...what a stupid name for a pub.
Zachary was so startled that he fumbled the perspiring glass, which slipped from his grasp and went spilling into his hat. In all the excitement, he managed to lose a shoe as well."I-- uh..what butterbeer? I'd like to buy one if you could help me with that..please?"
After the glass, and the shoe, went tumbling into the boys top hat, the rabbit on his lap figured it to be the safest place away from the proprietor, and leapt into the end meant for a persons head. With his butterbeer, shoe, and rabbit gone, Zach picked up his hat and turned it over, tapping the top with his palm to show that nothing was coming out.
The butterbeer he thought he saw? All an illusion. He'd buy that, right?

I started my term off thinking I was royalty from a different century, then I have to sit through that stupid Dark Arts class with the creepy Professor and you can't decide if you want to be nice or huffy and I am in a foul mood about all of it, Lorcan. Not to mention that that barman's attitude stunk, so I felt that I needed to tell him what I thought." She picked up her butterbeer and took a sip. "Is there any reason you ask? Isn't it my typical nature to act crazy, Nems?" she said as she put the bottle down with a slight thud.
She smiled crookedly up at the tall boy and was happy to see him loosing that hood. Oliver had looked so gloomy with it on, like he was hiding, but now he seemed more like himself. Or maybe it had been raining before?
And he wanted to get her back? Ugh. Miranda grimaced a little at that and wondered wether the DADA class comment had been his little revenge, or if he had been planning to...jinx her or something. But, she would let it go. There was no need to bring it up again or continue on that awful subject.
And then...her smile slowly turned into a thinner one as she raised an eyebrow, looking at Oliver like he was...something odd. Why was he staring at ther. Was he gaping!? What the... But then it dawned on her that he did not know she was joking. And how could he possibly, it wasn't a good one. "Oliver..." Miranda was about to tell him this, but then he spoke and she shut her mouth. She swayed a little with the elbowing and then there might have been some blushing. Her gaze dropped. "Aslong as you don't either." Because, really, he wouldn't be Oliver if he did.
Miranda gladly took his hand and smiled at the gesture. She agreed, the Hog's Head did look a bit odd and she was doubting that they had chocolate cake. Pout."I'm sure it's...cozy?" Anytwho, he'd have to accompany her to Honeydukes later then, hehehe. Having a butterbeer with Oliver would be nice though, and she'd try not to get on his nerves... But she couldn't promise no poking incase something aquired her to use her battle skills again. Snort.
Nah, she was sure they'd have a good time. They always did, even though they sometime's ended a bit...intense.

All this chivalry stuff was oblivious to her. Well, exept for the door opening and...this. "Yeah, sure." She nodded and turned to look around for a seat. "Uh, over there, maybe?" Point!

Well, exept for the door opening and...this. "Yeah, sure." She nodded and turned to look around for a seat. "Uh, over there, maybe?" Point!
Oliver smirked. “What theme do you reckon? A Victorian outhouse perhaps?” He mumbled quietly. He chuckled a little as Miranda examined their surroundings.
He watched her pause as he asked for the voucher noting the puzzlement on her face. He smiled and took the voucher from her and nodded when she pointed at a table. "Perfect." He said. He shoved his hands in his pockets once again, tensed his shoulders and turned to go to the bar.

Jake had to admit, it was quick thinking on Tibi's part to dash in here rather than the sweet shop or whatever. His heart racing as his annoyance tried to wane, Jake headed straight over to sit down at one of the tables and wait for Tibi to follow, rooting through his pockets all the while, looking for his free butterbeer coupon and some money to buy Tibi a drink.
Hopefully in here you couldn't tell how pale Jake looked, but the boy kept his face averted from anyone else in here.
Ugh. Some people were just able to bring out his ugleh side.
Tibi sighed and turned from the door, following Jake over to a table. The place was... creepy, but at least they were away from other people...

Tibi let up on the eavesdropping when it became clear that they didn't know each other and that he wasn't going to need to bolt into the street to find help. Exhaling, he finished walking over to the table and plopped down next to Jake.
"Er. Sorry. Thought I'd dropped something," he lied. "I'm Tiberius," he said brightly to the girl, before plopping his elbows on the table and sorta extending a hand.
