An old, dusty room has been converted to serve as gallery of sorts. As you enter, the aroma of parchment both ancient and fresh beckons you inside. On the side of the room opposite the door, broad windows overlook the grounds, framed with heavy velvet curtains that tend to change colour at random due to a decorating accident. Professor Truebridge likes the unpredictability of the curtains, which also like to draw themselves open or closed on occasion. He thinks the curtains are just like him; basically boring until you spend a moment examining them.
In front of the curtains, facing the window is a long faded green leather couch; precisely the right enough for Truebridge to stretch out on for a nap. To the left of the window is a display of ancient looking devices… A remarkably intact looking Egyptian wand, a dragon-sized harness and is that perhaps an early sneakoscope? Have a closer look; there is sure to be something to catch your fancy.
To the right of the window a complete set of chocolate frog cards is proudly on display, pressed between two sheets of glass and suspended at precisely the right height for viewing.
The walls are completely covered in portraits, most of them empty; some of them torn; all of them old. A low bookshelf runs the length of one wall, crammed full of old books and rolls of parchments. Perhaps there is some sort of order to the apparent chaos contained therein; though you’d have to ask Truebridge if you wanted to find anything specific.
Along the other wall, several desks are arranged, each with ink and quills provided; some with books or crumbling scraps of parchment arranged carefully on top. Haphazardly, almost as if Truebridge had merely used any blank piece of wall (he had), his favourites of the student submitted homework from the previous term was stuck here and there.
The floor is covered in a thick and soft carpet; quite perfect to sit on with a book in hand and big enough for an entire class to relax on.

The room was empty or so it appeared; Copernicus wasn't foolish enough to believe Truebridge couldn't lurk somewhere unseen if he so desired. He was very respectful as he moved to examine the displays the Professor had set up. Very interesting artifacts, actually, and something he'd normally be very happy to examine.
He rocked on his feet, antsy in the vast empty room. It was far too empty in there.

Cela quietly slipped into the room, closing the door behind her. She hesitated and changed her mind, opening it again and leaving it slightly ajar.
Security measure against stuff.
"Hi." She spoke quietly, shifting the strap of her satchel to a more comfortable position on her shoulder. She looked around, eyed up the couch and headed over to it, carefully holding her bag in her lap.

"Hey. Did you see this?" He pointed to the complete collection of chocolate frog cards as if they were the MOST fascinating things in the entire room. They were not.

She did turn her head a little, glancing over her shoulder, "Sit with me?"

"But Bloxam was the first reason I spoke to you in class last term," he did turn at that, surprised she hadn't understood. She always picked up so much. "I admired you so much after that class, and I wanted to speak to you. I should have. If I had spoken to you then..." Well, it didn't have to be said. Then he would have been there first, not Plymouth.
He followed her to the couch, waiting for her to seat herself first. Chivalry stuff.

Celandine tucked her feet under herself on the couch and looked up at him. "I know that silly. "But Chauncey Oldridge had the first recorded case of Dragon Pox." She gave him an impish little smile, though it was tinged with a little sadness still.
"Do you... when we did our astronomy homework together..." Celandine smiled a little and bit her lip.
"I have your birthday present, and I should probably hurry up and get you a christmas present too." Cela was playing with her pink bracelet as she said this.

"I don't have your Christmas present here," he seated himself, but his expression was closing in on distraught. Of course, he couldn't be expected to carry gifts with him all the time, but it didn't prevent him from feeling bad about it.
"What about when we did our astronomy?" Cope let himself snuggle back against the couch cushions, away from Celandine and her little sad smile.

"I liked you then I think, I just didn't know what it was." Celandine admitted. She'd been confused enough at the time considering that had been not long after Plymouth had kissed her. Then the next thing she knew, Plym had read her that poem in the student garden and it had sort of come from nowhere and the next thing she knew she'd somehow gotten a boyfriend.
She stared at her bag on her lap, building herself up to giving Copernicus his birthday gift.

"Yeah?" He thought about that for a moment, a goofy little smile playing over his lips before he recalled himself and tamped it down. "I kind of wish I could say I didn't enjoy hearing that. I'm trying to be all... do-the-right-thing-guy, you know? But I can't even tell what that is anymore. I can't fix anything right now."

Celandine just nodded, "That was you trying to 'do the right thing' when you found out Plym had kissed me that time." She peeked at him, "You kind of just assumed, right? And... you didn't think to ask me if it was the right thing. I..." Cela hesitated, "Maybe..."
She rummaged in her bag and pulled something out as she turned to look at Copernicus, "...maybe you should try to 'do the right thing' for yourself instead of worrying about everyone else all the time." Celandine finished quietly, biting her lip nervously as she awaited a reaction to her words.

And your brother... he'd agree with me, you know? He blamed me last year when we met. Told me I was ruining you."

That was just irritating if Nicholai could tell so much from such a brief meeting. How had he known it was Copernicus and not Plymouth who had that power over her?
It was annoying that he was so insightful, sometimes Celandine forgot that about Nico, and generally most people overlooked his sensitive side.
Celandine lifted her chin a little and looked away from Cope, frowning at the colour changing curtains instead. "Maybe I want to be ruined by you."

Well, that made his mouth fall open comically. "Let me think about that one for a bit. I'm still working through the whole... lack of definitions thing. So..." Was it rude to rush a gift-giving when the accompanying conversation was getting a bit... heavy? "Happy birthday to me, right?"

Copernicus pulled aside the wrapping, and the sight of the bolt of lightning contained in the small glass bottle made him jump. He nearly dropped it, letting it bobble from hand to hand before he caught it again. Merlin, that was the scariest thing he'd ever seen.
With a very shaky hand, he lifted it up to examine. "Pretty."

She stared at her feet. She was wearing her mouse shoes again since they were cheerful. It was a bit of a failed attempt at making things alright, but the pink ladies had taught her that shoes did make things better.
Most things.
"It is pretty." Cela agreed.

"Is it... a spell?" He shook the jar again and watched the lightning flash again and again. "Merlin, Celandine. You are a clever witch. How safe is this little thing?" He shook it in her direction, watching the light flash on her face and hands.

She watched the lightning flash and gave Copernicus a tentative smile.

She had nothing in particular to say so she just sat quietly and watched Copernicus and the lightning.

Cel flinched a little at the 'hehe' noise, but she did like that Copernicus appreciated the present.
"Boring?!" Cela stared and stared, "You?! No! You are the most fascinating person I know!" It was true, ridiculously true.
"You are brave, and you are too smart to be reckless! Sometimes... a little bit of risk is a good thing," Cela knew that when she took risks they tended to be TOO big, "But... calculated risk, you know? I just... you aren't boring and I like you the way you are, and if you ever changed I'd like you that way too just because you'd still be you."
If that wasn't an admission, Cela wasn't sure what was.

And where WAS the good professor? Were they going to get in trouble for being in here and not thinking deep history related thoughts, or was Professor Truebridge good enough to recognize that making your own history was pretty important sometimes too?

"Sometimes." Celandine agreed, putting her hand flat on chest, "I think being smart is using your brain and your heart and finding a balance between them? I... don't know how to do that yet, so it's probably a good thing that we don't get graded on that."
She leaned back and rested her head on the armrest.
