Default The Firing Room

The instructions on the door read as followed,

Quote:
For homework you will have three shots at the target, the better the shots**, the more points! As a bonus, after your homework is done, I will leave the firing range open for the rest of term! Feel free to come in and practice the spell, or any other spells, on the targets.

Please remember to place the protective spell on yourself before you start firing arrows!

-Professor Pierce
Inside was a large room with a long table against one wall, and a bunch of targets on the oposite wall. On the table were safety glasses and parchments explaining how to cast the protection spell and proper safety in the Firing Room.

OOC: **= 'Better shots' means, like the previous homework, will be graded on creativity and success with the spell.

For this particular homework, it will be due in 4 days instead of the normal week.

Amanda headed into the firing room and set her bag down, she for some reason was quite eager to get this homework started. She grabbed a pair of protective glasses and put them on, before she had done anything else, she had to put the protective spell on her. "Impiriano" She said clearly and moved her wand in a circular motion, she looked down and noticed a light blue sphere around her.

She looked at the wall with the targets and took aim, she was going to try a trick shot now. She could do this blindfolded since her aim was quite good, but that would be quite stupid. Instead she thought that she'd try the shot from standing on an angle. She moved to one side of the room and hoped this shot would work. "Shrowan!" She yelled slightly and an arrow fired out of her wand, hitting dead center of a bulleye target diagonal from her.

She was quite pleased with that shot however, a bit of a challenge could be added to this, so for her 2nd shot, she only glanced at the target slightly as she took aim. "Shrowan!" She yelled for a second time and once again an arrow fired from her wand, hitting the target directly beside her first arrow in the bullseye.

Last shot, this was it. She was going to make this one count, no one could get hurt since they had the protective charm on them, so she decided to do something fun. She took out an apple from her bag and set it infront of the target. "Shrowan!" She yelled for the final time and the last arrow flew out of her wand, going all the way through the apple and hitting in the bullseye. She walked up to the target with the apple and pulled the apple off of the arrow, needless to say, she didn't trust eating it now.

She took off the protective glasses, and put her wand away, she grabbed her bag and headed out of the room.

Ray headed to the firing room, after he had practiced this charm so many times, also his aiming was still not that perfect but he had managed to hit three bulleyes before.
He placed his bag on the floor next to him and took out his wand. He practiced his hand movements before moving to stand in front of the targets.
First, Ray waved his wand in a circular motion and said the protection spell quietly Impiriano, he looked down and noticed that a blue light, his charm had worked. This spell is turning to be much more easier than the other one, Ray thought to himself before getting his focus back at the targets.
Ok lets start with something simple, he said to himself as he pointed his wand at the first target and muttered "Shrowan!" and a arrow flew out of his wand and landed just in the middle of the bulleye.
Ok lesson one - hitting a target directly complete, Ray thought. Lesson two - hitting a target from an angel, Ray thought as he moved to the left side of the room and pointed his wand at the bulleye at the far right end of the room. "Shrowan!" Ray muttered and for the second time an arrow appeared from Ray's wand and zoomed at the target, this time however the arrow hit the bulleye at the far left end, a 1/2 of a centimeter and it would have hit outside of it. "hmmm! I should have pointed much more to the right" he said out loud to himself before checking that his second training was now over.
"Lesson three- Hitting a moving target!" Ray said as he flicked his wand at one of the target and it started moving to the right and then to the left at a considerable speed. Focus... Focuse!! Ray started encouring himself as he saw the target moving right and left, left and right. Suddenly, Ray yelled "Shrowan!" and an arrow flew out of his wand, Ray had made sure not to on the bulleye but on the trajectory of the target so that it would hit the bulleye of the target as it passes by that point.
Luckely to Ray, His time was accurate and his arrow ended inside of the red bulleye. "YES!" he screamed before lowering his voice and placing the target back in it place.
"Lesson three- complete!" Ray said to himself as he observed the fruit of his training.

Twirling his wand restlessly between his fingers, Clifford made his way to the firing room. This was a really neat spell, he just couldn't seem to get the hang of it! It was soooo unfair. Hmpf.

First he had to try get that protective sphere around him. Hah! This should be fun. NOT! "Im-Impiriano." He stuttered nervously, pointing his wand at himself. Nothing happened. What a surprise there. Hoping noone was pointing and laughing, Clifford took a deep breath. He could do this. He COULD do this. What was it Evangeline had taught him in Charms. "I am the BOSS!" He growled, pointing his wand at himself again with an "Impiriano."

Whoooa! The blue sphere thingymabob! Okay, so it was a very weak blue, and it was kinda fuzzy.. But it was there! WOOT!

Freya entered the Firing Room, 'Oh goody...' She thought to herself, 'I get to make a fool of myself in front of others.' Her skills hadn't been up to par for some odd reason, and she had been beating herself over the fact at every opportunity she could. However, Freya approached the table and read the instructions then put on a pair of safety glasses; which made her already large eyes look even creepier. 'Great, I look like a bug now. Wonderful.'
She cast the protective spell over herself and was pleased when the blue shield appeared around her entire body. 'At least I won't be killed today, that's a plus.'

Freya stood over at the line facing the targets, taking a deep breath in attempts to calm herself down before she would fire anything off. After a moment or two, Freya raised her wand and pointed it at the dead center of one of the stationary targets. 'We'll do vocal first, see how we do.' "Shrowan!" She commanded and made a stabbing motion with her wand. Again, she felt no recoil as the arrow emerged, but she felt frustrated as the arrow hit the target in the far left side of the bullseye. 'Why am I always doing that? It shouldn't be that far over...'
While she pondered her own question, Freya brought her attention to the second target. It was much different than the first, and it looked very much like a hula-hoop that muggles had, although it was much smaller and was hovering in the air. 'Okay, lets see about this one now.' Freya raised her wand again and aimed for the center of the hoop. Unlike the last shot, this time around, Freya decided to conjure the arrow non-vocally. 'Shrowan', the arrow flew out of her wand and soared through the center of the hoop. But again, it was far over to the left and managed to scrape the side of the target.
'What is going on?' Freya wondered and looked to her final target. 'Okay, last one, gotta make this really count now.' She raised her wand towards the target...which was hardly a target at all. Instead of being a large piece of wood or a hoop, this one was just a simple rope with a balloon tied to the one end. The balloon was keeping the rope straight up as it floated and there was a gold mark on the rope. 'So, we have to break the rope and not the balloon...this time I really have to concentrate. No messing up here.'
Freya raised her wand and directed it towards the rope, at the last moment before she fired, she moved her arm slightly to the right thinking it might help...and it did. The arrow that was fired from the wandtip flew through the air and hit the rope, snapping it right in half and allowed the balloon to rise to the ceiling of the room.
Freya let out a sigh of relief, 'Looks like I'm going to have to aim to the right from now on. At least I've solved my problem.' She then removed the protective shield and placed the safety glasses back onto the table. Her job was done here, so Freya left to tend to other matters.

Huffie Through and Through

Ana entered the room and walked near a table with the instructions and she read it. Protective spell... and if i can't do it...okay...focus or next place you'll visit is the St. Mungo's Hospital "Impiriano! Impiriano!" and a blue shield appeared around her. great I'm not going to die she thought [I]... and put the safety glasses...[I]. After she was well prepared she approach the targets.

So we can try a simple thing to start she thought. Ana held the wand firmly and raised it pointing to the target "Shrowan!" and an arrow came out of her wand right in the middle of the target. Cool! she thought.
Now I can try with...with... my eyes closed... yeah that should be good. she thought. Once more she lifted her wand but now with her eyes closed "Shrowan!" and she felt the arrow leaving her wand, she opened her eyes but no signal of the arrow she looked around and there it was right in the middle of a portrait oops... omg... and now what do I do?! she ran to the portrait think, think! she thought getting a little stressed I can repair it that's right... what is the spell?... ripairo...no no.. reparo yeah. But i hadn't learn this spell yet... let's try. Ana focus the most she can on the spell "Reparo! Reparo! Reparooo!" and the little hole disappeared. for Merlin's beard! It worked! she thought.
Ok let's finish this This time Ana moved around the target and said "Shrowan!" and for the last time an arrow appeared from the wand and stopped in the middle of the target.
It was fun! she thought to herself. Despite the little incident Ana really enjoy the homework. She took off the protective glasses and left them on the table she gave a last look to the room and left.

The REAL Sorting Hat: "Ravenclaw!" This monkey is bananas.

Entering the firing room he looked around, glad he wasn't alone. What if he couldn't do the spell properly and turned himself blue instead of doing a proper protection charm? Wait, being blue would be cool he grinned, walking over to the instruction, glancing at them and blinking. He had to do the protection shield on himself? OH, well this changed everything he thought glancing around, feeling smaller by the second. Walking over to the far end of the room, where he could be alone and not have stray arrows flying in his direction, or so he hoped he practiced saying the protection charm on himself "Impiriano" After saying it a few times and feeling very confident of his abilities as of late he moved his wand in a circular motion around himself and said clearly "Impiriano" A soft blue glow surrounded him and he grinned. "Excellent!" he said cheerfully.

Now for the hard part; actually hitting the bulls-eye with his arrow. He had only managed a small dent the last time, though that was when he was extremely nervous and uncoordinated. Now he was more sure of himself, knowing he could do it fully. Putting the glasses on his face - of which he completely forgot to do before he did the first spell - he stood tall and firm, eying the target before him. "You will go into the center by the time I'm finished, you hear me arrows?" He said, muttering into his wand. Yes, so he talked to his wand, who didn't?

Satisfied that he knew the correct pronunciation of the said spell, he moved his legs a few inches apart from each other, turning into the left a bit, so he looked like a sword fighter ready for a duel. Only this time it was him against a target. Very fair in his opinion. At least the target wouldn't chase after him. Holding his wand arm out he jabbed it into the area of the target shouting, "Shrowan!" with all his might. The arrow shot out of the tip of his wand, heading straight for the target. Halfway through it seemed to slide off to the right and clip the side of the target.

"Huh." He muttered watching as it fell to the floor. He had just wasted an arrow. Standing he tried to figure out what he did wrong. The arrow was perfectly straight, yet it still wobbled uselessly halfway through. Thinking he should check out his arrow he walked over into the battlefield and bent down to pick it up. "Weird." he muttered as he looked down at his zig-zag looking arrow. "No wonder it doesn't go right." He said to himself running a hand over the smooth wood. Now he had a problem; how did he fix this ziggy looking arrow to actually hit the target?

Walking back to his bag he slid down the wall, twirling the ziggy looking arrow in his hand. He thought hard; perhaps the reason for the ziggy-ness was that he wasn't concentrating hard enough, or his voice shook slightly near the end. OR maybe it was because he was secretly nervous of having it zoom off hitting one of the portraits or something else. Either way he only had two shots left and no idea how to fix the problem. Crossing his legs, he closed his eyes, putting his hands up in a meditation stance and concentrated on emptying his mind of all distractions.

After a few solitary minutes of meditation he got up, stretching his mind and body at the same time. At least he didn't have to go through the maze again he thought, before clearing his mind off that thought and staring at the target before him. "Be one with the arrow, let the arrow guide you, and not you guide it." He muttered, humming softly to himself. Anything to help he figured his eyes focused on the target and forgetting everything else. Raising his hand, he pointed it at the target, the middle dot directly in his line of fire and jabbed his wand as he shouted "Shrowan!" with all his might. The arrow shot out of his wand, moving faster than he had seen it move before. With a thud it landed, sticking to the target like bees to honey. "Yes!" He exclaimed, as he saw it very close to the center.

His little eyes gleamed with pride as he stood there, doing nothing but smiling happily. Oh yeah he was good. He had a knack for spells it seemed, getting them easier than any other classes. He had to stop feeling so smug though; he had one more shot left, and this time he was determined to get the dead center. Aiming his wand one more time at the target, looking at his second attempt straight and stuck properly he concentrated again on his task. Jabbing his wand one last time he shouted "Shrowan!" and watched as once again the arrow shot out, this time moving so fast he blinked and missed as it hit the target.

Running up to the target he grinned, his face flushed as he looked up at the target seeing the center of it struck by his arrow. He had done it! He had gone and done something fun for once! Pumping his fist once more he stood there grinning happily like a goofy child before shaking his head. With nothing else left to do he walked back to his bag, placed his wand in it carefully and slung it over his shoulder, the exhilaration of his accomplishment fueling his need to celebrate. Perhaps a romp through the grounds he thought walking out of the room and heading towards the outdoors.

Varius entered the firing room Professor Pierce had made for them. There seemed to be a lot of conjuring magic in these Transfiguration classes. It made Varius seem rather advanced, really, as this was apparently one of the trickiest forms of Transfiguration.

He entered the room, seeing not as many students as he would have been expecting. Maybe he was the only one who liked to get a head start and not leave all of his homework to last minute?

He retrieved a pair of the goggles from the table so that no flying arrows would poke his eyes out (something that was guaranteed safety, unlike the dubious results his attempt at the safety spell might bring). He reached for the parchment that explained the protection spell and read over it a couple of times... he had to get this right otherwise he could be in trouble.

Breathing steadily, he closed his eyes, pointed his wand and himself and cleared his head. "Impiriano," he cast... looked at himself, there was no glowing blue sphere which he had witnessed during the lesson when Professor Pierce did it. "Damn," he cussed, clearing his head once again, this time keeping his eyes open so that he was aware of what he was doing just in case it was a miss-aim of the wand..."Impiriano," he repeated again, but this time with hopeful success.

Now for the main part of the homework. The shooting aspect. He took position behind the line, facing the targets on the other end of the room. Breathing again to try and clear his head, he pointed his wand toward the bulls eye and muttered, "Shrowan!" His wand felt as if it expanded slightly as the arrow was conjured from the end of it.

It made it's way half way across the room before doing a flip in the air and then... heading straight back for him? "AHHHH CRAPPPPPP," he screamed, not caring who the bloody hell was watching him make a tool out of himself. He ducked in nice timing before the arrow had the chance to impact with his forehead... not that it would have mattered with the spell, right?

Next try.

"Shrowan," he incanted for the second time. The arrow this time made it to the end of the wall, but missed his target completely. Instead it bounced a meter above the target and snapped with the impact. "So I get over the boomerang effect and now I can't aim for beans!"

"Come on Varius. Final shot, let's make this baby fly!" he said, whilst preparing himself in the usual way, ready to take his third attempt. "Shrowan," he cast once more.

Varius wanted to close his eyes as the arrow made it's way across the room again, but thought against it just incase it decided to detour once more and take aim for his head again. However, there was no need to worry about the arrow making it's way back to him as it hit the target. Needless to say it was on the outer most rim of the target and not exactly spot-on central, but how could he complain? Hopefully that earned him some nice points.

But onto more important matters, LUNCH!

Natka entered the firing room, looking around her at other students practicing the firing spell. She left her bag by the door and walked up to the table, picking out a pair of glasses and fitting them on her face.

I must look like some great big owl stuck in a Hogwarts uniform she thought to herself as she picked out a target on the far wall and drew out her wand. Oh, well, nothing I can do about that, and besides, I’ll be safe, at least.

Just before she was about to give the actual shooting a try, the Ravenclaw remembered a vital safety precaution she had almost forgotten. How typical of her, Natka mused, always forgetting the most obvious things. She moved her wand carefully in a circular motion, hoping her spell would work.

“Impiriano!” she muttered under a breath. A cool blue glow enveloped her, but it disappeared after a moment.

Frowning in concentration, she tried again, and this time, a blue sphere formed around her. Grinning, she punched the air.

“Yes, it… woah,” she stopped moving as she noticed the sphere faltering slightly. “All right, that proves I should avoid making any sudden movements for now.”

Now to the homework itself, Natka stared hard at the bull’s eye, taking a deep breath. “Shrowan!” she exclaimed, jabbing her want in the direction of the target.

She hadn’t aimed carefully enough, however, and her arrow embedded itself right along the edge of her chosen target. Sighing, she tried again.

This time, the arrow landed about ten centimeters away from the bull’s eye.

“Oh, come on,” she said aloud to herself, and stilled as a memory suddenly invaded her mind. A memory of a day out with her father, years ago when she’s been about five, perhaps six years old, and he had taken her to a shooting range. She’d watched the people sending off arrows whizzing at targets, some hitting, but most of the missing by a long shot.

”Remember, if you ever do try to shoot, always take your time to aim well, and only slightly above the bull’s eye,” her father said.

He was always an avid shooter, Natka remembered that with a smile. Feeling suddenly more confident, she aimed again, this time her eyes never leaving the bull’s eyes as her wand pointed a few millimeters above it, unwavering.

“Shrowan!” she whispered to herslelf, and watched the arrow spurt from her wand, spinning off straight for the…

“Bull’s eye!” she yelled out loud, jumping up and down.

Finally, she’d done it!

Now he had the fuzzy blue protective sphere looking after him, Clifford grabbed himself a pair of the super duper FUNKEH safety goggles and made sure his toes were juuuuuuust behind the guide line.

Now, to try and do this blasted spell. GRRRR!

He watched the others for a while, hoping to perhaps pick up a few tips on wand movement and pronounciation and stuff. They seemed to be his flaws. That and nerves. But he wouldn't be nervous this time. Nope. Because HE WAS THE BOSS! WOOO!!!1

That's right. He just needed to remember and pay attention to Evangeline's advice, and this would be easy peasy lemon squeezy. That was sorta the plan anyways. Heh.

So he had three shots. Okies. Rolling up his sleeves ready, Clifford drew his wand and glared at the targets ahead of him. Did they know who was boss? If they didn't, they soon would. MWAHAHA! "Shrowan!" He ordered his wand firmly, jabbing it in the direction he was hoping it would go. At least an arrow flew out of wand this time ... shame it flew in the wrong direction and stuck itself in the wall. Oopsy daisy.

Two more tries. He could do it ... at least he'd try. Right. "Shrowan!" He exclaimed a second time, this time experimenting with the jabbing movement he did with his wand. OOOOH! The arrow flew from his wand and this time hit the RIGHT target. Yeah, so what if it oooooonly just hit it and ended up dropping off? He still hit the target! YEAH!

Final try. This one would RAWK! Hopefully. "I AM THE BOSS!" He growled menacingly, forgetting the others around him. "Shrowan!" The final jab must've been the lucky jab, and the arrow landed just shy of the balls-eye.

"Yeaaah!"
Clifford whooped, punching the air and pocketing his wand. Oh yeah, he was the boss and he showed those nasty targets. Hmpf.

I'm ready!

Barry stepped into the room, ready to begin shooting at the target. He drew his wand and dropped it, and it rolled into shooting zone, bad sign. He quickly ran towards it, narrowly missing a arrow. He picked up the wand and then cast the protective spell "Impiriano" then he moved his wand in a circular motion as the teacher put it. The blue sheild thing then appeared. Just as he wanted it.

First try. "Shrowan!" he shouted and he moved his wand with such force that an arrow flew out of his wand but his wand flew again. The arrow was two rings away from the centre and his wand.... a bullzeye! But that didn`t count then did it? But now he`d have to go get his wand, please don`t hit it, he thought.

Achoooo!

Sneeze entered the firing room and smiled. He had tried this out one time at home because his mum was into outdoor spells. He took out his wand and said the protective spell. "Impiriano!" He put on some goggles and walked to a target. He held his wand with a hard grip. "Shrowun!" Nothing happened. He then heard what the others were shouting. "Uhh... wrong pronounciation." He took a deep breath and shouted. "Shrowan!!!" An arrow flew out and hit the far right side of the target. He smiled and then calmed himself. He looked at the target squarly. "Shrowan!" The arrow flew out and hit the bullseye. "Yeah!" Sneeze breathed in one more time and shouted, jabbing the wand forward. "Shrowan!!!" Soon enough the arrrow when straight through his second arrow, hitting the bullseye. Sneeze smiled, and couldn't stop.

I'm ready!

Barry crawled towards his wand would he get it? Only one arrow hit his spell and it bounced off his sheild, he finally got his wand and went back for a second try.

Wand ready he shouted the spell "Shrowan-achoo!" He had cast the spell, BUT he sneezed and so the arrow bounced around the room finally hitting the target in the outmost ring,

Ludo entered the room Professor Pierce had set up for students to practice the latest spell. He hadn't quite gotten the hang of it in class and knew he needed the extra practice. Several students were already doing the same thing...although one boy seemed to be sick. His arrow had gone way off course and Ludo had taken cover behind the table to avoid a body piercing.

He pulled his wand from his robes and tapped it in his hand and tried to remember.
"First things first, the safety charm. Better go nonverbal."

He pointed his wand at his chest and thought Impiriano! Ludo looked down at his feet and noticed a blue cirlce surrounding them. Hopefully it wouldn't have to be put to the test.

Now for the challenge. Was Ludo a good shot? He aimed his wand the target across the room and thought, "Shrowun!" Unfortunately the force of the arrow caused his hand to move off taget and miss the mark.

He mustered his thoughts for another attempt. He wasn't quiting this early in the game. Ready this time, he aimed his wand at the target. Shrowun!
he thought and the arrow flew from his wand, across the room, and hit the target an inch away from the center.

Ludo smiled. He was getting better, but he felt confident he could do even better than that.

Wowza!

Nodding to herself as soon as she finished reading the instructions on the door, the fifth year stepped inside the room in order to do her assignment. Granted, shooting arrows was not her idea of homework, but that did not mean she would just not do it. Transfiguration was her best subject, after all, and not doing the homework would be simply inexcusable.

Eyeing the protective glasses with an expression that was not far from being a disgusted one, the girl fought back a groan --she was not Juniper Goodwin, after all-- and proceed to take one. Ugh. Never had Willow imagined she would have to wear glasses at some point in her life. Those things so didn't flatter her features--more like opposite, actually.

With her nose wrinkled, she put them on, and tried to not to think about how ridiculous she probably looked.

Tying her hair in a ponytail to keep it from falling on her face, and thus blocking her view, Willow took out her birch wand and pointed it at herself. "Impirano." The blue sphere instantly appeared around. But it seemed a bit too weak, so she tried once more, "Impiriano!" There. Perfect.

Now it was time to practice the spell. Uh. . .

Clearing her throat so her voice would not come out hoarse or anything of the like, Willow's wand pointed to the target on the opposite wall. Now, now, calm down. You love transfiguration, remember? "Shrowan!" Almost instantly, the arrow came out from her wand and went straight to the target. Wellll, not really straight to the target. More like WAY off the target. Perhaps if she had done the proper wand movement, the spell would have worked perfectly fine. But she hadn't, so. . .

Ugh. Right. Time to try once again.

Grumbling to herself and eyeing the arrow scornfully as well as her wand, the girl pronounced once again, sounding a bit angry, "Shrowan!" And. . . OH! The spell had work! The arrow had hit the target, at last. Only problem was, though, that it was not her target. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh!

Deep breaths, Willow. Deep breaths.

Following her own mental advice, blinking a few times as if she trying to improve her sight, and nodding one curt nod to herself, Willow pointed her wand at the target once again, and spoke clearly. "Shrowan!" And FINALLY, after having practiced the spell one hundred times --okay, not one hundred times, but it sure felt like it, for Willow was used to getting all the spells they learned in Transfiguration at the first try-- it had worked. The arrow had finally hit her target. Not someone else's, but hers.

Smiling a rather smug smile to herself, the girl pocketed her wand, and quickly exited the room, completely forgetting to take off the protective glasses.

Mackenzie entered the firing room to finish the homework. She was very proud of how quickly she had picked up the spell. First things first she thought, I have to put the protective spell on myself. She stood there for a moment, trying to remember the spell. "Oh right!" she said outloud to herself, finally remembering it.

Mackenzie pulled her wand out of her pocket. "Impiriano!" she pointed the wand at her chest. For a moment there was a blue haze surrounding her, but then it dissappeared. "Impiriano!" she said this time with more force. This time the shield stayed and she was hoping that it would last.

Now for my first shot, Mackenzie thought to herself. "Shrowan!" she said with as much force as she had the first time she hit the bullseye in class. She watched excitedly as an arrow quickly shot out of her wand and landed in the dead center of the bullseye. I really have a knack for Transfiguration. she thought to herself.

Now for the second shot. I think I'll try nonverbal, even though that's really advanced for a first year. Mackenzie thought real hard and practically shouted in her head Shrowan!, but nothing came out of her wand. She tried once more and was shocked when something came out of the end of her wand. It was only a stick, but it was still amazing.

For my third try, I'll just stick to verbal. Mackenzie took a deep breath and shouted "Shrowan!" while jabbing her wand toward the center of the target. Like the first time, the wand soared out of the end of her wand and into the dead center of the bullseye. Mackenzie was so proud of herself, that she skipped out of the room smiling.

Elizabeth entered the room set aside for the Transfiguration practice carefully, trying to stay clear of the arrows that the students inside were shooting off. I don't have the protection spell on me yet, she thought wryly, Don't want to get any holes punched in me. Making her way around the room to the table, she managed to get there in one piece, only having to duck once to avoid an arrow that got a little too close for comfort. And once she got there, she selected a pair of safety goggles, slipping them over her eyes before glancing at the parchments, It wasn't exactly that she had forgotten the spells, she just wanted to make sure she remembered them right. Especially since she had planned on trying to do all of them non-verbally.

Then, stepping a foot or so away from the table, she pointed her wand at herself, moving it in a circular fashion while thinking [I]Impiriano!" emphatically. And then she glanced at her arms, feeling ten million times safer when she saw the blue glow surrounding them, as well as the rest of her body when she double-checked. Time to choose a target. Moving toward the line, she instinctively ducked a few more times, even though she was fairly certain the protection spell was going to hold. Sometimes it paid to be careful.

As her green eyes took in a target, she focused on it, trying desperately to focus since she knew that was imperative for nonverbal spells to work. But, she had noticed both Willow and Ludo when she had headed in here, Willow leaving, and Ludo still inside, and her mind wanted to wander. To whether or not the Quidditch roster had been posted, to the fact that she was curious as to what Ludo had been up to. And then her mind wandered even further, to Hogsmeade, and the whole issue between Robert, Mari, and Cayden. Blinking, she tried once again to focus her mind, clear the distractions out, and forcefully thought Shrowan!, jabbing her wand at the target. But her aim had been off, and the arrow ended up jutting out of the target on the far edge, just barely having made it. If it had been any further off, it would have hit the wall.

Squeezing her eyes shut, she mentally yelled at herself. Focus! Do you want to end up hurting somebody, or something, because you couldn't focus? Jonathan would laugh at you And that last comment snapped something inside herself. She would do anything to avoid her brother thinking she was a failure. Taking a deep breath, she cleared her mind before opening her eyes to look at the target, glaring at the lonely arrow sticking out from the side. Narrowing her eyes determinedly, she turned her gaze to the little red dot at the center. The bulls-eye. She could make it in there. She did it once in class, she could do it again.

Blocking everything else in the room out, sounds, images, everything, she concentrated her whole self on that little red dot, then jabbed her wand directly at it. Shrowan!, she thought for a second time, and kept her focus on the bulls-eye until she saw the arrow hit it dead center. Then she grinned, taking another breath as she felt vindicated. She knew she could do it.

For a second, she contemplated going over and taking both arrows out of the target before she made her third shot. But then, she tilted her head to one side as she remembered something from a Muggle movie her father had made them watch once when he had been home. A man had shot an arrow, that hit so accurately it had split another arrow in two. Narrowing her eyes again as she examined the arrow she had gotten into the bulls-eye, she wondered if she could manage to do the same. Except without the bow and arrow that the Muggle had had to use. And it would be something to gloat about to Jonathan, since she was fairly certain he never managed to do something like that.

Taking another deep breath, she focused all her attention on the teeny tiny point that was the end of her other arrow, in the target. Then she lifted her wand, lining it up exactly with the point, since she knew that accuracy was going to be key if she was going to accomplish this. Bringing her other hand up to steady her wand, she took a third deep breath before focusing every fiber of her being on her self-made target. She was going to make this. She knew it. Her green eyes intent on that tiny little point, she cast the spell once again, thinking Shrowan! as she jabbed the wand directly at her other arrow. And then she held her breath as she watched the newly conjured arrow fly straight at the other one, landing directly in the smae place and neatly splittling the other, before imbedding in the target.

At which point her eyes widened, as she realized she had actually done it, and she froze in place for a second before a huge grin split her face. She bit her lip to keep from cheering, and simply turned to make her way back over to the table to return the safety glasses. Leaving the protection spell active until she got safely out of the room, she carefully worked her way to the door again and slipped out, letting the spell fall once the door had shut behind her. And then she walked down the corridor, still feeling the excitement generated by her accomplishment.

I'm ready!

Final go, Barry tried this time and he wanted to do it so badly that he had his back to the target wall "Shrowan!" he shoyred and the arrow headed for the door, but amazingly did a black flip and headed back towards him. Barry ducked just in time and the arrow hit the centre of the target, a bullzeye.

He really needed to work on this, but having finished the homework he placed his glasses back and removed the spell and left

Celandine walked into the firing room nervously being sure to read the instructions on the door first. Okay. So protection spell first. "Impiriano!" she spoke firmly and moved her wand in a circular motion, gratified to see the blue aura appear immediately. It was nice and strong too. Cela tucked her wand behind her hair and walked around the edge of the room to the table. She picked up some safety glasses and put them on before picking up the parchments and reading them.

Well she was fine with the protection spell, so Cela put those instructions aside before rereading the directions for the arrow-firing spell. Something niggled at her about that particular conjuring charm; something to do with a Quidditch game, but Cela decided to look into it later.

Alright, so arrow-firing spell. Shrowan. "Shrowan. Shrowan." Cela repeated the incantation a few times, enunciating clearly. Next she practiced the wand movement, jabbing sharply at the targets and beginning to enjoy herself immensely. Alright, she was ready.

Celandine marched up to the line, wand at the ready and her eyes locked on the targets. "Shrowan!" She jabbed her wand at the target, attempting to line up her eye, the tip of her wand and the bullseye. She watched the arrow shoot forward and pierce the target halfway between the centre and the edge. Okay' not too bad. Cela tried again, "Shrowan!" The arrow flew straight and split her first arrow down the centre.

Cela stared, gobsmacked at the two arrows; what was the likelyhood of that happening? Cela thought for a moment before taking a large step to the left. Celandine jabbed her wand again, "Shrowan!" The arrow flew straight, almost hitting the bullseye, but missing it by the tiniest fraction. Celandine let out a little exclamation of happiness before leaning forward and peering at the target. Wouldn't it be the coolest if she could split the arrow again? Thought they were only supposed to take three shots. It was kind of better just wondering about it, really.

Celandine evanesco'd the arrows she had shot and returned to the table before taking the goggles off. She headed to the door and waited until she had left the room before casting finite incantatem on the blue protection sphere- not wanting to accidentally miss and cast it on someone that still needed the protection. And now to the library to figure out what that Quidditch niggle had been.

G1GGL3R! *giggles* My GarBear

Briskly stalking into the practice room that had been assigned to them, Terry came to a stop several yards away from his chosen target. Right, first things first. Drawing out his wand from his jeans' pockets, he twirled it around in his experimentally, trying to recollect what that protection charm they'd been given had been. Impiriano, was it? He totally hadn't heard that from the blonde the next target down at all, hehe.

Clearly stating the spell aloud, Terry whooped to himself as the familiar blue glow surrounding him. He was almost tempted to throw him across several targets just to then smirk smugly at them as the evil arrows bounced off him uselessly. But naaaah, he didn't think he should be pushing his luck here.

Right. The actual spell, he remembered easily enough. As he collected his goggles and snapped them over his head, he murmured the incantation to himself several times in preparation.

Hokai, here goes. His feets planted firmly on the ground, he brandished his wand fiercely in the air, declaring 'Shrowan!', thrilled when an arrow shot out, then a second later winced as it dug hard into the wall about a METRE away from the stoopid target before flopping onto the ground. OOPS. Hastily covering up the indentation that had been left behind on the plaster, he swept his hair of his forehead, ready for a second attempt.

Maybe he'd been getting a little too excited with his wand-waving? Hrrm. Narrowing his eyes as he focused on the rings of his target at the far end of the room, then took in a clearing breath. 'Shrowan.' Terry waited with baited breath, only allowing a tiny sigh of relief as the arrow this time pierced the edge of the target comfortably. WOOOT.

One final attempt? Nawwww. He was kinda getting into this! Taking on a sideways stance again, he cocked his head to the side, dragging his wand up into the air and aligning it with the very centre of the board. Flicking his wand forward, he murmured the spell for the third time. The arrow whizzed through the air, nicking into the very edge of the bull's eye, and Terry huffed, mildly disappointed. Still, he had all of the summer to practice, right? His sister would make a perfect target.

Feeling pleased, he dropped his safety goggles back onto the main table, then swished his wand at himself, examining himself as the blue glow vanished. He could go now! WOOT. No more homework for the evening, he was FAMISHED.

Vanessa the Snot Girl l Rachels Rule | rock, tumble,&roll ❆ adorable coffee bean

Neverously Vanessa entered the firing room. Truth be told she was a little bit scared. Yes she was good at aiming when it came to hiting a bludger, but surely that was just a adrenaline thing? How on earth would she manage at firing an arrow at a target. She just hoped that she wasn't going to look like some plonker, who couldn't aim for toffee.

Staring down at the target she was standing in front, the midget hufflepuff sighed. Better get started then. Pulling her wand out she lookeda round nervously, before putting the protection charm on herself. "Impiriano" She spoke, waving her wand in the right way, and hoping that it would work first time. Success! She grinned, looking around as if she expected everyone to suddenly stop what they were doing and give him a big round of applause. Like that was going to happen. Glancing back down at the target, she smirked. Game on.

"Shrowan" She spoke, directly her wand in the right movement, before pointing at the Target. Praying it would work, Vanessa was delighted when something in the shape of a hour proceeded to move out of her wand and towards the general direction on the target. "Awesome," She thought, until the arrow just skimmed the top of the board, and clattered to the floor behind the target. Great. A little better aim next time would probably help. Glancing around, for anyone who seemed to be watching, she grinned, ready to have another go.[
"'Shrowan" She spoke, a little more confidenty this time, maybe that would help with her aim. She smirked as she watching the arrow smoothly move towards the target, and land in the red bit. Well that was something, and she was now hitting the target.

She had one shot left now, and she really did not want to muck it up. Giving the person on the next target to her a nice smile, Vanessa turned back to her target, and sighed, third time lucky?
"'Shrowan" She confidently spoke, pointing her wand at the target. Perfect, the arrow, moved smoothly down to the target and into the yellow area of the target. At least she was getting a little better now.
Smiling, satisifed at her work, she put her wand away and moved out of the firing room.

Ruby walked into the Firing room and walked over to where the saftey glasses were she picked them up and looked at the targets across the room she walked confidently, she decided to make sure she had the incantation right before she had her three shots she made sure her wand was in her pocket and read the instructions that the Professor had left.

She placed the instructions down and said to herself "Impiriano" waving her wand in the correct way and the protective blue glow surrounded her and she smiled first part done she thought she wanted to make sure she had the pronuciation right for the other spell so she placed her wand away again said slowly first "Shro-wan" she exhaled and said it altogether "Shrowan" once she was happy with the pronuciation she went to stare at the first target.

Ruby stood there and looked at her target and made sure no one was going to get injured she aimed her wand in the right direction and said clearly "Shrowan" she hoped that something would come out of the end of her wand and it did she saw a arrow shoot out of her wand and fly for the target she hit it, from what she could see it wasn't a bullseye but still she hit it yay

Ruby regained herself and aimed her wand at the target again and a little more confident she said "Shrowan" and once again a arrow flew out of her wand and went for the target she watched it hit the target and she was closer to a bullseye just a few centemeters out EEP

She moved a couple of centemeters to the left and she was now on her last shot and she wanted to have a bullseye she said "Shrowan" which was closer to a yell and she watched her third arrow fly to the target she heard herself egging it forward "come on come on come on please bullseye" she heard her arrow hit the target and she looked and smiled she had a bullseye she was happy.

She put her wand away and placed the protective glasses back and walked out of the firing room and decided to go to the great hall for something to eat.

Zane walked into the Firing Room and looked at all the people firing arrows. He stood in the door looking around nervously, "Well, better safe than sorry." he said, preparing to cast the protective charm around himself. "What was it......oh yeah, Impiriano." he said, and the glowing blue ball appeared around him. He had practiced this spell earlier, right after the lesson, but he still wasn't very good with it. "Well, here goes." he said pointing the yew wand at the target and saying, "Shrowan". A arrow flew out of his wand and hit the target just to the right of the bullseye. Estatic with himslef he fired another two arrows. The second hit the target dead center, but the third ended up coming back at him and hitting the protection charm right at his wand arm. "Whoa......that was scary." he said, still shaking. He looked at his arm, wanting to see the arrow protruding from it, but he was fine. He shot a fourth arrow and it buried itself into the target, right at the outer ring, almost missing it. He didn't care about where it had hit, he completed the homework. He dropped the saftey glasses on the table and walked out of the room, not bothering to take the protection charm off of him.

Kayla made her way into the firing room and was pleased to see that not many people were in here, she picked up a pair of safety goggles and stood quite still as she made circular motion with her wand over herself, "Impiriano" she said confidently. She made sure that the protective spell had worked and noted the blue glow around her body and so she proceeded over to the line.

She looked down at the target and then raised her wand, holding her arm straight and steady. She sighted down her wand, closing one eye so that she could get a better lock on the bullseye. Kayla, waited a few moments making sure that her aim would be true. Confident that she now had the target and the bullseye in sight, she gave her wand a jab and said the incantation, "Shrowan." An arrow flew out of her wand and hit the target straight in the bullseye. Kayla, did a little dance at her success, "Oh yeah, uh-huh. Who's the best at Transfig?" She cleared her throat and looked around at the other students...oops best get back to business.

Kayla took her stance behind the line once again and raised her wand. Once again she sighted down her wand, closing one eye to get a better aim. She was aiming straight at the arrow that was already in the target and she knew what she wanted to do but pulling it off might be a miracle. Giving her wand another jab and she said the incantation once again, "Shrowan." The arrow left her wand and she opened her eye and stared opened mouth at what she had done. Kayla, jumped up and down in the air screaming, "One, two, three, four...who's the best of them all?" Okay that didn't exactly rhyme but hey how many people could do this?

Succeeding with the first two arrows, Kayla decided to have a little bit of fun. She took a picture out of her pocket. "Wingardium Leviosa" she muttered and levitated the picture onto the next target. Raising her wand once again and closing one eye and sighting down her wand, she gave her wand one last jab and said the incantation again, "Shrowan." Seeing that the arrow had landed where she had wanted it to, Kayla gave her wand a swish and thinking hard of what she wanted she said, "Risona." She watched as the ribbon tied around the picture and she smiled to herself...yeah it was cheesy but hey cheesy is fun.

NU. NUUUUUU. Cam was holding his wand with both hands outstretched while giving a pleading look. It was like looking at a mime trying to get hold of a rope, but for Cam it seemed like he was possessed by his own wand. He could have eaten the thing if he wanted to but what else could he use magic with? Precisely. Nothing. So he cursed at his magical tool, how cruel it was it to drag him here. Was he a freak for thinking that his wand had its own feelings and secretly talked to him in his mind? Precisely. Yes. This homework was mean; he didn’t even get the chance to fully finish that arrow-spell thingy. Stupid wand, it distracted him for making him think it was chocolate.

He put the wand in one hand and grabbed those protective goggles, making a “plop!” kind of sound when he put it on. Safety goggles were awesome; it made him look all smart and evil-scientist-ish! Not only the goggles but that blue spherical shape around him! Too bad it wasn’t edible, he’d seen people have it around them and it looked like a giant blue gumball! Quickly he went to the “arena” with all the people doing their homework and looked at some of them in amaaaazement. How’d they do it without saying the incantations? They’re… cheatererererereesssss!

Of course, Cam wanted to try the “no-incantation” thing too but all of the people who did it looked… older and smarter. He only had three tries so he wasn’t going to waste one away, even though he would probably fail anyways. And how would the professor know it was his arrows? Oh! Maybe their names were secretly engraved in the targets. There was one target, but it looked so… unCam-ish. Probably wasn’t his target. It was like finding a wand all over again, only a bit easier. What if he picked the wrong target-thingy?! Being very superstitious, it took him several minutes until finally finding a target which looked like it was just for him.

Yes he would do very well with target. He could just feel it, he could feel it in his… pancreas! ”Shrowan!” he screamed. Screaming was good, it made him feel relaxed. But seeing that the other students did it so … calmly made him feel no better. OH! In a quick second an arrow came out of his wand and it was going straight at the target! Yes, it hit almost at the center of the bulls-eye. Cam put his hands up, to cheer for his achievement. But he immediately put his hands down when the arrow… quickly fell off the target and landed on the floor.

Stupid chocolate wand! YOU FAILED ME. WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT, YOU USELESSSS TOOL.

Then he forgot that his wand had feelings and spoke in his mind. Ooooh. It had cursed so much at him that he felt like crying. The wand was cruel, it was a bully. The thing wasn’t supposed to have feelings since it was supposed to just do the work for him. A disobeying meanie should have been its name. He frowned at the fallen arrow, wondering if the thing didn’t have much force with the spell. But he still had two tries, which was like a bajillion trillion for him!

”Shrowan!” he yelled but less louder than the last time. Again an arrow came out of his wand, and smiled when it hit its target. He waited for a few more seconds to see if it would fall, but it didn’t so he basically had nothing to worry about! However it didn’t hit bulls-eye, it hit at the really tip so he was lucky… kinda. One more try, he knew that he could have done it perfectly. Even his wand mentally told him that the last try would be the best! Cam took a really deep breath before performing the last try. Ooh it made him feel like some weird meditating guy. But he did it anyways and he pointed his wand at the target.

Like some sniper he followed his eyes through the wand and tried to steady it. ”Shrowan!” he yelled and then watched with delight as that arrow came out of it again. It looked perfect but… but it didn’t hit the bulls-eye. It was a tad bit off, but he didn’t care. No bulls-eye meant bad and bad was like, bad! An extremely sad frown came upon his face as he tried to hide the embarrassment while watching some of the other people, even in his year hit it straight at the center. That wasn’t faaair! Can’t I get anothah chance?!

Cam knew he couldn’t though, so he took off his goggles, violently put his wand in his pocket and stormed out of the room still with that sad face.

It’s noooot fair!
