| | | Library Bookshelves Tall bookshelves are scattered throughout the library, the smooth wood gleaming brightly in the sun that shines in through the stained glass windows. Tens of thousands of books rest upon the shelves, all waiting to be explored by eager minds. They stretch along the walls, filling each shelf and dark corner. A catalogue system has been put in place to ensure that finding and retrieving a book becomes a simple task, for the sheer amount of books can be overwhelming, particularly to the youngest of students.
At the end of the first few bookshelves in the front of the library sits a pedestal. An open book with a soft golden light emitting from it, has been placed upon the pedestal. As you approach the book, you hear a rustling and then a gentle pop. “Come closer, come closer. Don’t be afraid.” A jolly voice speaks.
When you finally do peek into the pages of a book, an elderly gentleman peers out at you, one hand rising to adjust his spectacles. “Now. What book is it that you seek? I can give you a general location or a more specific one if you know the exact title of the book.”
Once you speak your request, the man ponders for a few moments before scribbling on a piece of parchment. Squinting at what he has written, he looks back up and smiles, before speaking the location of the book. “Happy reading!” He exclaims before settling back down into a still flat image. OOC: Please note that the jolly man is for entertainment purposes only. I will not be RPing him each time a student approaches asking for a book. |

That would have been the day! “Well, just to clear things up, I don’t plan on hurting your cousin. Ever,” Seth said seriously, back to leaning against the bookshelf with his arms crossed. Why did girls have to be so difficult? “All I want to know is her name. What is really the harm in that?” And how exactly was he going to get this Ravenclaw female to spill the Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans to him?
A miniature sly smile appeared on the Hufflepuff’s face as he stood upright, just feet from the other prefect. Perhaps reverse psychology would work on this? It was not as if he did not know how to use it, especially with his father working in St. Mungo’s with a bunch of crazies. Some days it was a little hard to tell who the crazy person was: his father or the patients. “But, as you said, I can probably just go and ask someone else for her name. So, since you aren’t really helping me at all, I might as well just go and do that. I wonder what your dear cousin would think about her own flesh and blood not giving something so simple as her own name to someone who asked for it….” Elizabeth looked seriously at Seth as he first smirked, and then went back to being serious himself. "You better not hurt her. Or even think about hurting her," she said. Cause she'll beat you down if you did, she thought afterward. A fleeting thought of Asteira going after him, and her helping with her beater's bat followed, but she pushed it to the back of her mind quickly. There was no reason as of yet that she should be thinking that way about her fellow prefects, as far as she knew, and she wasn't going to start. "I don't know where the harm is in you having her name. But once again, if she wanted you to have it, why didn't she just give it to you herself?," she mused out loud.
Her green eyes flashed as he then tried to trick her. "I'm not that stupid, you know. I can tell when you're trying to use psychological tactics on me. Not only am I a Ravenclaw, but I have brothers. And my dad is in the military. I've never been taught to give in. And I'm sure my "dear cousin" would understand why I didn't just up and give you her name when you asked. All I need is some proof you won't do anything with it. Then maybe I'll give you her name." She knew she was caving, a little, but she had been having fun being difficult, and he had threatened to leave.

Ludo walked down an aisle of the library bookshelves. His face was a bit flustered. He held a book in his hand...for once not caring about what happened to it. "Why I signed up for Divination...I'll never know. he thought, placing the book on the shelf he'd retrieved it from.
With O.W.L's approaching, Ludo was a bit preoccupied. But he knew better than to let his stress control him. He rested against the shelf and took a deep breath.
As he relaxed he heard a familiar voice from the next row over.
He walked to the end of his aisle and glanced around the corner. As he'd thought, Liz was there, talking to another boy. "She's busy...don't bother..." he thought, stepping back into the Divination section.
He scanned the rows, hoping to find a volume that would be easier to comprehend.

Hannah, walking backwards searching for a book, bumped right into a boy. "Oh! Gosh! I'm so sorry," she said. She looked at his face. "Hey, didn't I meet you at the feast? I came over to the Ravenclaw table just for a minute, but I'm sure I remember seeing you. I'm Hannah, by the way." She smiled. Wow, that was kinda random. She hoped he didn't think she was a freak or something.

DIVINATION!
Why did all the books just look as dull as ditchwater? Because they were? Aw maan, why did she have to rip the spine to her own book on a day which she'd rather not be in the presence of anyone at all? Because life sucked. Like a baby sheep. Lame metaphor. I KNOW
So, skimming her finger along the books, she glared at them as if they'd done her a incredible wrong. They possibly had... At some point in time.
Well, they were divination books after all..

She knew she was caving, a little, but she had been having fun being difficult, and he had threatened to leave. Seth sighed when his newest attempt in getting Elizabeth to tell him her cousin’s name failed yet again. Seriously, what was it with people having to need ‘proof’ that nothing bad would happen? How was he going to prove to her that he meant no harm whatsoever to anyone? He looked up at the blonde female with his blue eyes and just stood there as motionless as he possibly could.
Okay, it was time for a new approach at this. Maybe telling her why he wanted her cousin’s name would help? Hopefully that would give Elizabeth enough satisfaction to tell him Slytherin Girl’s real name. Maybe, just maybe. “Right. You’re a Ravenclaw, meaning that you are very smart. But … if you are so smart, you’d know that I would never plan on hurting your cousin, as well as anyone else in this entire school,” he stated as a matter-of-factly, looking out of the nearby window. Unless you’re someone that enjoys chucking acorns at my head or someone with an overflowing cauldron of ego that ends up causing an emotional hurricane. “I don’t want to sound mean by saying that at all. It’s just … I kind of like your cousin….”
The fifth year male prefect ran a hand through his blonde locks once again and rubbed the back of his neck with the same hand. He looked back at Elizabeth and quickly added, “As a friend, of course….”

He looked back at Elizabeth and quickly added, “As a friend, of course….” Elizabeth rolled her eyes as Seth tried to flatter her. Sort of. He wasn't doing a very good job of it. "Thank you," she said, then continued. "I'm smart, not psychic. And I just met you, so there's not really any reason for me to know what you would or wouldn't plan to do to anyone. And the last time I saw you, you were embroiled in whatever was going on between Anna and Cale. So excuse me for being suspicious." She paused. "And I never said you would plan on hurting her. Sometimes it's difficult to avoid. Accidents happen, you know."
She blinked as he then confessed he thought he liked Asteira. Okay . . . Can't say I expected that one, she thought. But before she could actually respond, he added a qualifier, and she raised an eyebrow. "Of course . . .," she echoed. Then she said, "You do know there's really no reason I would care if it was as a friend or otherwise, right?" Just because it appeared nobody liked her didn't mean she had to begrudge her cousin of anyone.
Pulling a small notebook out of her bag, along with a pencil, she scribbled on a piece of paper and then tore it out. Folding the paper once, she handed it to him as she slipped the notebook and pencil back into her bag with her other hand. "She can make her own choices."

Folding the paper once, she handed it to him as she slipped the notebook and pencil back into her bag with her other hand. However, things are back to normal so no biggie really. But I do see your point in being somewhat suspicious about that, so you are forgiven … this time.” He smirked and chuckled for a few short moments – the whole ‘this time’ thing was meant to be a joke, hopefully Elizabeth was a girl with some sense of humour.
Seth watched as the Ravenclaw pulled out her small notebook with wide eyes. Oh Merlin, was she going to hit him now? With eyes wide open, he watched as she scribbled something with her pencil – hopefully the real name of that belonged to the ever-mysterious Slytherin Girl – and then tore it out. He then blinked his eyes once or twice to make sure that this was really happening. … It was, and he wasn’t going to get hit. Whew! “Yeah, I know,” the boy said with a appreciative smile on his face as he took the folded paper from her hand. Almost immediately, Seth opened up the folded piece of paper and read the only two words that where written on it. He then looked up at Elizabeth and nodded his head. “Thank you. I really am grateful. … Well, I better get out of here. I don’t want too many more people catching me in here,” he said with a small chuckle before he began making his way out of the library. “I’ll see you around, I guess.” Asteira Blood ... Asteira Blood ... Asteira Blood.... Elizabeth grinned. "Divination is a little different than being psychic. Or, at least, divination is only a tiny part of being psychic. Plus, you can learn divination, while truly being psychic is more of a innate talent . . ." She trailed off as a corner of her mind reminded her that Seth probably hadn't wanted a lecture. So she simply listened as he discussed the incident from earlier in the term. "Okay. Thanks for explaining that. I'll try to be less suspicious from now on. At least with you." She smiled as he joked about her being forgiven. At least, she was reasonably certain he was joking. And she was kind of hoping he'd end up a friend, since she was looking at it as the more friends she had, she was better off.
She had to stifle a giggle as his eyes bugged out when she had taken her notebook out. She didn't see herself as extraordinarily violent, despite the fact she had ended up as a beater on the house Quidditch team. And then his relief when she hadn't hit him was almost palpable, which entertained her even more. She watched as he immediately read her note, then nodded back to him with a smile. "You're welcome. But don't forget that you're gonna have a lot of trouble if you misuse that and hurt her." Then she grinned again as he said he should go. "Wouldn't want anyone to think you liked books," she teased before he started to leave. "Sure, see you around," she said, then leaned against the bookshelf and watched him leave with another smile.

Ludo raised his eyebrows as a dark look passed over the Slytherin girl's face. Maybe it had been his his friendship with Asteira that had given him the mindset to surprise a Slytherin. However, the tension seemed to pass and she responded.
He smiled, "It's probably stress. O.W.L year is such a nightmare. Arithmancy's not so bad...but that's just me...Divination? Dull as dust."

Suprising herself by giggling at the Ravenclaw boy's comment, Alyss replied with humour in her voice, "I've got my O.W.L's this year... All I've got is the satisfaction of having them finished soon enough." Personally, what she'd just said didn't make any sense to her at all, but, unknitting her eyebrows, she pushed the book back into it's place and pulled another one out. "Oh," She exclaimed, after a moment of ignoring him in trying to get through the prologe, "Where are my mannars? I'm Alyss Glass, it's nice to..." Uhumm... "Know that there's someone else in the world with my opinion of Divination."

Ludo grinned, "Yes, I've got them too...and the stress is starting to set in."
The Slytherin reached for another book and then became surprsied. She introduced herself. "Hey, nice to meet you Alyss. I'm Ludo...Ludo Snicket."
He looked at his watch and frowned, "Well...I've done all the damage I can do with Divination for today. I should get back upstairs. Maybe I'll see you around." He said, smiling.
He put his book back on the shelf and turned to head for the library entrance. "Guess I should go work on Switching Spells now..." he thought.

Ludo... What a... Interesting name.
Well she wasn't excatly one to speak, someone who's name couldn't even be spelled in the conventional way. Oh, she could have been Alice, but no, her mother had to be different. "Yeah, I think I'm done here too," She responded, "I probably will see you around, this place is smaller than you think." She added with a grin.
Then made her way out of the opposite door to him.

Glancing down at the book she had noticed earlier that Fabian held, she looked back up at him curiously. At his explanation, her eyes widened slightly in surprise before she looked at the book again. With another laugh, she nodded. "Yes, you and Fex are both forgiven." "Classes are going well, I've actually come to request your permission, the book was sort of a decoy to gain your merits" he made a cute face to flush her anger away. Angela smiled, carefully holding the book in her hands as she watched Fabian. "Oh, I believe you." She reassured him. "I'll have to make a pass by and see him myself. It has been a while, after all."
As Fabian went on to speak of requesting permission from her, Angela's expression changed slightly, now curious. "Of course." She answered, soon laughing at the expression on Fabian's face. "Ah, I see. You wanted to soften me up before asking. I see how you operate." She added teasingly.

"Is it working?" he asked cautiously with a playful smile.

Angela laughed again. Fabian was being his usual playful self. It was certainly nice to see. "Yes, it's working. You're quite good." She complimented as she too leaned against a shelf. "So what do you wish to ask my permission for?"

"Wouldn't want anyone to think you liked books," she teased before he started to leave. "Sure, see you around," she said, then leaned against the bookshelf and watched him leave with another smile. Ludo doubled back into the library. The boy from Hufflepuff had exited right behind him. He walked along the rows of shelves until he found Liz leaning against one of the shelves. "Hey Liz." he said, grinning. "Don't think I didn't see that. More boy drama?"He made sure not to poke too much fun at her.

"Glad it did" his smile got wider, "well thank you Angela" he rubbed his chest and cleared his throat deciding to move on instead of milking the situation.
"With your permission of course, I'd like to run my next class down here in the library. I know it can get crowded" he held both of his hand sin the air to hold her thoughts - well to hold her from responding immediately, "but I think my students can learn a lot from here. I thought maybe we can use the study tables area to keep everyone contained" he looked up at her hopefully, "I'll make sure they behave" he wasn't really sure at all. But good faith in students always worked.

The place smelled like he remembered and Vindictus was tempted to toss a book at Fabian's head when he saw him talking to the librarian. "There you are!" he said in a loud whisper and he kept his hands balled into two tight fists at his side. At least he managed to give Angela a polite nod of the head.

But good faith in students always worked. Ang laughed again quietly at Fabian's antics. "You're quite welcome." She replied as she absently turned the book over and over in her hands.
Her initial thought of holding a class in the library had, she would admit, made her take a pause. Goodness...she wondered if that was the smartest idea. Though, as Fabian went on, stating his case and promising to make certain that the students would behave, Angela began to have doubts about her first impression.
"Well....I suppose that you can hold the class here...though any mischief from the students and I'll be after both you and them." She warned. Quote:

Just as she had finished speaking, a loud whisper sounded near them. Turning her head, she noticed Max standing nearby. A quick glance at his expression and posture told her that this was not a social call. "Hello..Max." She looked back towards Fabian, wondering what had happened between the two.

Then she got a puzzled look on her face as his next words registered. "More boy drama? When have I been involved in boy drama before?" She racked her brain, trying to figure out why Ludo would make a comment like that, and tried to remember how many boys she had even talked to. Discounting the Quidditch team, which, granted, was mostly boys, she could only remember talking to Ludo, Nicholai, and now Seth. And Cale in the prefect lounge, but unless someone had gone around gossiping about that incident and she had remained oblivious, she had to figure that wasn't what Ludo was referring to.

Jack was on a mission. What he was a mission on...was temporarily not known. He walked rather quickly towards one bookshelf, then another, then another, on and so forth. He did not pick up a single book, look at a single title, or take a single step. Yep, Jack like imagining things.
He did none of what I just recently stated. Nothing. Zip. Zero. Nada. You know what! Just...just erase it from your mind. Like a white board. A PURPLE white board. Or should I say...a PURPLE board...with purple bread. Because it tastes good.
*Sigh* Okay, lets get to the point. Short, Simple, and Sweet. He stood. And watched. That is all.
And no, his eyes were not glimmering.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Liam Coleman Seventh Year | Irish eyes || Nanny McPhee A new found curiosity had hit Caitlin with a force she was not expecting. She needed more answers about her life. About her ... eternal life. And she wasn't exactly sure where she was going to find it, so at first she absentmindedly ran her fingertips along the spines of the books.
Hoping ...
That maybe ...
She'd find something to give her answers. |
