Across from the main doors stand four giant hourglasses filled with gemstones. The stones in the bottom indicate the current number of house points each house has earned so far.

Hmm... house points hourglass. How in heaven's name did he end up here? He could have sworn he'd gone DOWN some stairs. The dungeons were down and that's where he'd set up his office. Now, why couldn't he find it again? It was first year all over again! Professor Bontecou groaned and looked around, wondering when someone would come along so he could ask for directions... or better yet, an escort.

Lucas had on his green hardhat with a small light attached at the top and it was on as he walked the darkened corridors just exploring. He had a pencil and a journal to record all the fun things he found. He was watching a slow moving warm with little legs and a fuzzy body when he came upon a Professor who seemed to be lost. Lucas switched off the light on his hat as he walked over to him. He pulled on his robes to get his attention. "Um excuse me sir." he said timidly. "Are you lost?" He asked.

"Oh! Spelunking! That's fun but, I'm not all that good at the navigational aspects," Professor Bontecou smiled. "And I'm not lost. I know exactly where I am. By the house points hourglasses, of course. Now, the real problem is finding the potions office."

Lucas giggled. This man was fun and he made him laugh. Luke loved to laugh. "I was exploring. Like Dora the Explorer does, she goes everywhere with her backpack." He told the man with a smile. Lucas looked around well of course the man wasn't lost. They were both standing by a giant hour glass that already had some red rubies in it. Lucas' hand shot in the air and he was jumping up and down. "I know where that is." He said excitedly as he pulled his book out of his backpack. He has seen a red spider by the potions office earlier. "Its right here." he said pointing to the simple map he had drawn. "Is that where you want to go?" He asked him.

"Ah, yes, it is," he grinned. "That's not a bad map. I had one I made when I was in school but, I never thought I'd come back and I lost it. I have some books on map making if you want to put more detail into that. I even have some measuring instruments so you could make it to scale," he added.

"You can have my map." Lucas said. "I can make another one." He offered. He didn't like being lost and he didn't want to imagine how a big person would feel being lost. His eyes twinkled at the thought of getting to play with the man's toys. He could put some color into his map and maybe get some moving people on his map! "We can make a map together. So you will find your way everywhere." Lucas told him. he liked being helpful. His mother called him her little helper afterall.

"That sounds like it might be a good idea. If we combine our efforts it might not take us the two years it took me when I was a student," he chuckled. He started walking off in completely the wrong direction. "Let's get going!"

"I can draw really fast too sir. It won't take us two year to make a really good map." he said proudly. Lucas scrambled after the man when he turn to head back into the main part of the school away from the potions office where he said he wanted to go. "Sir we are going in the wrong direction." He said. He didn't know if the man really wanted to go to the potions office or if he just wanted to explore. He turned on the light on hit hat. "Are we exploring now?" he asked.

Lainey was a little late with getting back to campus. She'd been late before, sure, but never quite this late. Before going up to her office, she swung by the House counters to see if her favorite House had gotten any points yet. Two boys were at the counters, "Boys," Lainey smiled at them. It'd been a long year with no boys last year. She definitely was going to have a sweet spot for the boys this year.

Lainey moved past them and wrinkled her nose at the blue hourglass.

"OH! Are we? No wonder I've been walking around in circles. I could have sworn I went down some stairs before but, I still ended up here..." he stopped and bowed slightly to the familiar looking witch who rushed past them to the counter with a quick greeting.

"Professor Lainey! It's been ages! You look great!" he exclaimed, a little surprise coloring his voice. And she really did. The last time he'd seen her she'd only just barely come back from the dead and the pictures since then in the Prophet were anything but flattering.

Professor Lainey's face stayed crinkled as she turned slowly around. Oh. Not a boy. Or, less of a boy than the other young Slytherin. She frowned severely at him, knowing the face but not quite able to put her finger on the name. She scratched her nose as she moved closer to him.

Who are you? How do I know you? Where's your face from? were all questions that came to mind, but all seemed their own version of rude. She settled instead for a simple, "Thanks. Not looking too bad yourself."

He grinned and stuck out his hand. "Reynard Bontecou, Ravenclaw. Last time I was this close to you I couldn't have shaken your hand," he explained.

"Why? Did I stink or something?" Lainey, chronic verbal diarrhea sufferer, said before processing what he had actually said. It took a moment, but finally sunk in. "Oh sweet Granny Merlin's knickers - Oh no. No, no, no. Please tell me you dropped out and are back to finish up your seventh year." Lainey was looking at Bontecou like he might have just spit venom up her nose. She'd have to apologize to the other poor friendly dear later - but currently she was in mid-life crisis mode.

"Sure, in a moment," he said, with a sideways glance at the kid, though his attention was focused on Lainey. "I guess you were a little preoccupied at the end of my seventh year but, I did manage to scrape through alright," he chuckled. "I'm teaching potions, but unfortunately my sense of direction hasn't improved any."

"Oh NO," Lainey groaned. "Oh, Merlin, just ... well, just bury me. Just go ahead and put me in the ground. One of my STUDENTS is now teaching? Oh I am SO old!" Lainey still had the 'acid-in-the-nostrils' sort of look. "If you tell anyone you were one of my students, I'll...," Lainey flickered a glance to the young Slytherin boy she'd just told. "This is a disaster!"

"You don't look that old," Rey 'helped'. "And I won't mention I was one of your students, though really you were so cool. All ethereal and all. Not that you aren't cool now... Actually, you're pretty hott...." He blushed but, did not clean his glasses like his predecessor would have done. He just sort of gave a short laugh and ran a hand through his hair while looking away. His gaze fell on the student and he twitched his lips to the side as he decided the hourglasses were quite enthralling. Yes, the rubies and sapphires were quite pretty the way they caught the light and the crystals could be used for many different potions and as focal points for spells and...

"That is completely inappropriate," Lainey "scolded" but it was more than clear that she'd been appeased. She let her face smooth and hair fall around her face. "It's good to see you again, Rey, but I'm leaving before I make a bigger... bum ... of myself." Lainey stared at the back of his head intently before pressing her palms onto her hip bones and backing away.

He cowarded when she glared at him. "I won't tell anyone I promise I won't" he said trying to hold in the tears before she yelled at him.

Lucas looked up at the professor. You never tell a girl they didn't look that old! He spent enough time with his 11 aunts to know that. He didn't know what to do. He usually ran away when one of his aunts was about to blow. Big girls scared him. "Professor," he squeaked out. "I think that it just says how pretty you are that you look better than most of your students." he said trying to get him and the professor out of hot water. He pulled a chocolate frog out of the front of his jumper and offered it to her. "You can have this." he said.

Lainey's chin raised a little bit higher at the influx of compliments she didn't entirely deserve. "Now, now, let's not blow my head up so big I can't walk around. I have hard enough time with a fairly normal sized head." Lainey reached for the chocolate, but immediately put it in her pocket. She'd had soooo many food-related potions go bad - she never ate anything she didn't test first or make herself. "Thank you, honey pop. You're a sweetie. Are you two lost or should I get you back to the main hall?"

Lucas wanted to sigh in relief that the professor hadn't exploded. He didn't have on his rain slicker. "Thank you. My mommy says you should always leave someone with a smile." he told her as she took the chocolate frog from his hand. "We aren't lost. We are exploring. Like Dora." he explained to her.

Who the heck was Dora? "Right, well, then I'll leave you two.... explorers .... to it. I guess I'll send out the search crew if I don't see you at dinner," Lainey snorted loudly at her own pathetic joke before heading off quickly. She needed to digest that a former student was now... a teacher. It didn't seem right.

Kaika walked by and noticed the Hourglasses. Slytherin was down by 20? But earlier it had been down by less, how's that possible? She wondered for a moment if the Slytherin girl she'd been into an argument somehow managed to loose points afterwards.

She sighed and shook her head.
